A ruckus came from within the office of Principal Larissa Weems, "Y/n, don't touch that! No, not that either!" Larissa whined as she chased around a bubbly, Y/h/c shapeshifter. 

The toddler zoomed around in absolutely nothing, the babe was as naked as the day they were born. 

"Oh God, Y/n. No! Darling, please don't touch that!" Larissa said as she finally caught the stark naked shifter. 

Larissa heaved the wriggling and giggly toddler up safely in her arms, "Please, whatever you do, allow me to get your diaper on!" 

All the little shifter could do was shine a smile so wide that Larissa just forgot about all the mayhem that was just had...partially. 

Larissa took the tot in the shared bedroom and put them in a pull-up until Morticia could get back. 

Larissa didn't know exactly what to do because normally her and Morticia's partner had a plan in place when they regressed, but not this time. 

No, this time it was a complete surprise.  

*2hrs ago* 

Larissa sat at her desk and was finishing paperwork on Wednesday's usual troublesome stunt when her and Morticia's partner came in, Larissa took notice of how tired the usually bubbly and excitable person was and made a mental note to sit with her other halves in a warm, calming bath later on. 

Y/n barely cast a glance but muttered an exhausted, dull hello and kept going into the apartment. 

*1hr later* 

Something seemed off, it was quiet, too quiet. Larissa made a note to herself that even the TV wasn't on, so she got up and headed towards the door where she paused in shock. 

Papers, toys, anything you could name, it was all strung all over the apartment but no Y/n in sight. 

Larissa’s ears perked at the sounds of giggles emanating from the bedroom, and when Larissa walked in, she was greeted by the sight of the tot drawing along the walls. 

Larissa stood gaping at the Y/H/C shifter in shock, but she quickly snapped out of it and carefully but quickly approached the toddler, but before she could retrieve the marker the tot turned around at the noise of feet behind them. 

Grinning happily, the small babe started getting up yelling, "MAMA! MAMA!"  

Larissa couldn't help but smile and watch as the tot finally got up and shot towards her yelling Mama the whole time. 

The tiny one collided with Larissa’s legs and said one simple word with outstretched arms, "Up!" 

Larissa smiled and said, "Now, what do we say, sweetheart?" 

The tiny shifter thought for a minute and then said, "Peeeeaaazzzz! Up, peaz!" 

Larissa smiled at the babe and carefully scooped them up and held them close while exclaiming, "You need a bath! Dear me, you stinky baby!" 

The toddler giggled out an, "Yep!" 

Larissa sighed and looked towards the wall and back at the babe giving them a look, "But let's clean this up first, shall we?" 

Y/n got a sad look and hung their head, they knew they had done wrong, "Sorries, Mama." 

Larissa sighed, she felt bad and so she decided to let it go just this once, "While it is not alright, I will not make you sit in the corner, but you will have to help me pick up all your toys and markers, is that understood? First thing is first, you need a diaper, yes?" 

The tot smiled and nodded, "Oui, Mama!" 

Larissa gave a deadpan look at the toddler, "You sound too much like your Maman, you little menace." 

Y/n gave a bubbly giggle and with that the two got to work, but after 30 minutes she noticed things had gone quiet and once again, it was too quiet. 

Next thing Larissa knew she saw a toddler streak past her wearing absolutely nothing. 

The tot flew out of the bedroom, heading into the living room, and heading straight for the door, which Larissa forgot to shut. 

Larissa shot up from her crouching position, but it was too late, the little hellion escaped and made their way into the office and that's where all of the chasing and grabbing ensued. 

*Present time* 

Larissa, having made sure to shut the door to the apartment, turned on the TV to Y/n's favorite show and set out to make dinner. 

Not 15 minutes later Morticia walked through the door, she heard one, "Shut it quick, Morty!" And another, "MAMAN!" 

Morticia shut the door just in time to feel a tiny body collide with her legs, she peered down and smiled.  

Scooping the babe up Morticia laughed, "Oh my, what do we have here? Do we have a tiny menace on our hands?" 

Y/n giggled and exclaimed, "Oui, Maman!" 

While Morticia proceeded to blow raspberries on the babes cheeks, Larissa spoke over the shrieks of laughter coming from the toddler, "You have no idea, Morty! That little pup right there had strung toys and other items all over the living room and then proceeded to draw on the bedroom walls!" 

Morticia pulled back and gave the squirmy, happy baby a look but of course couldn't stay mad at the look in those Y/e/c eyes, "Is that so, little pup? Did you give Mama trouble?" 

Y/n nodded solemnly and hung their head, "Yes, Maman." 

Morticia gently cupped the child's chin and lifted their face, "Will you do it again, sweet one?" 

Shaking their head furiously, the babe quickly said, "No, Maman!" 

Both Morticia and Larissa smiled, Larissa came over after putting the plates on the table and both gave the small one soft kisses on their head. Pulling back, Larissa said, "Good. Now, little pup, how about some food, yes?" 

The babe grinned, "Yes!" 

Sitting Y/n down in their highchair, Morticia grabbed a bib from the drawer and a bottle from the cabinet and gave the bottle for Larissa to fill up with water.  

Carefully getting the bib on the hungry toddler, Morticia placed a soft kiss on Y/n's head when done and she sat herself. 

Larissa did the same once the bottle was sat carefully on the tray and they all dug in and quickly came to the realization that if Y/n needed a bath now, they would certainly need one after this. 

*After dinner* 

After cleaning up and wiping the face of a squirming Y/n, the women set to work in getting everything for the bath and after ready. 

Morticia drew the bath as Larissa gathered everything for the bath and once all was done, Morticia gently picked up the sleepy darling and got them in the bath. 

Y/n loved bath time, it meant play time AND cuddle time. Once in, Y/n latched onto their Maman and waited for their Mama to get in. 

Once everyone was in the bath, Larissa and Morticia made quick work in getting themselves and the sleepy, and now increasingly whiny, toddler clean. 

Larissa claimed out and dried of first and once in the towel took a fussy Y/n from Morticia and proceeded to dry the unhappy and squirmy babe while Morticia herself quickly dried. 

Now done in the bathroom, Morticia quickly got everything in place and powdered, diapered, and clothed Y/n while Larissa got prepared for their nightly routine. 

Everyone was all done getting ready for bed and so they climbed in, Morticia held a crying Y/n, who was begging for their special cuddles, while Larissa got her top half undressed and shifted. 

Taking the sobbing babe from Morticia, Larissa allowed them to latch on and within no time being spared, Y/n latched on quickly. 

Both women smiled down and the tot who was sniffling and dozing off while latched carefully onto their Mama with their other hand curled around their Maman's finger. 

Larissa settled deeper into the pillows as Morticia curled around both little and Larissa. 

Larissa carefully reached for Y/n's pacifier so she or Morticia could be ready to slip it into Y/n's mouth once the tot had fallen asleep. 

Morticia smiled and pressed a kiss to Larissa’s lips and the little pups head, after Larissa pulled back and looked Morticia in the eyes and smiled. 

As she looked the sparkle in her eyes got brighter, Larissa pressed a soft and gentle kiss upon Y/h/c hair and settled back into the pillows as Morticia curled up and started humming. 

Eyes growing heavy on all three, the babe let their eyes close first. After a few minutes, Larissa could feel the suckling stop and soft even breaths hitting her chest. 

Looking down, she saw Y/n had fallen asleep. So being very careful, the two women carefully unlatched the tot from Larissa’s chest and slipped in the pacifier. 

After dressing her top half once again, Larissa settled Y/n between herself and Morticia. 

Once the tot was settled, the two women said their goodnights to each other, and each pressed a gentle kiss to Y/n's head. 

That night was filled with pleasant dreams all around, Y/n's most of all. They dreamed of their caregivers, cuddles, and stuffies. 

Not a sound, all was quiet and peaceful except for soft breathing coming from each occupant.

A/n: I hope you like it! Tbh I struggle to write outside of my usual same characters but it’s always very fun to do. Thanks for your request!

Telling Morticia about your regression was always something evident in the back of your mind. You had to do it eventually, it’s not something that can be kept a secret forever. Nor did you want to. But her just finding out was never in your plans.

“Darling?” Morticia’s smooth voice called out to you as she rounded the corner to join you in the living room. “Ah, there you are.” She smiled and sat beside you. Seemingly itching to start a conversation.

You hummed in question as you turned to her and smiled as well. “You have a question?” You deduced, it was quite obvious in her tone, which you’ve learned to read quite well.

“I do.. it’s a bit of a serious topic. So, know I just want to sit and chat with you, this is no type of confrontation or any of the sort.” Her serious tone wasn’t helping in making it seem anything but confrontational. You were already worried.

“That doesn’t sound scary at all..” you half joked. But She knew you well enough to understand your mind was already scouring for anything you could’ve possibly done wrong. “Maybe it is, a little. But I promise, you’ve nothing to be anxious about with me.”

Her reassurance helped a bit, so you held your breath and nodded.

“Okay.. I think I found some things of yours that perhaps you’ve been trying to hide from me for a while. Now, I’m not upset, I’d just like us to talk about it.. well- mostly me. I have a few questions.”

You immediately knew where this was headed. There’s nothing other than your regression gear that you’d ever hide from her. And you could see how careful she was about the topic. It was crystal clear.

Panic set in almost instantly after you realized, but Morticia was quick to once again reassure you.

“Breathe. Just like I said, this isn’t something you have to be anxious about with me..”

It took you a second to realize she actually knew. Not just found your things but knew about regression. She wouldn’t reassure you like this otherwise. You breathed, and just kinda looked at her, unsure of what to say.

She didn’t look upset, and it was always clear to tell when she was. And she wasn’t confused, seeming knowing of the topic. “You’re an age regressor..?” She stated it as a fact and then turned it into a question.

Slowly, you nodded. “Okay. That’s- that’s okay. I know a little about it, I’m pretty sure I understand it well enough…”

“You’re being too normal about it and it’s kinda scary..” you admitted quietly, making Morticia chuckle. “I feel pretty normal about it, my love. I’m just unsure as to why this was kept a secret from me. Specially since you seem to regress very young.”

“I- well-“ suddenly you felt choked up again. But for a wildly different reason. It was clear now she wasn’t upset at all, and her casualness about the topic actually reassured you quite a bit. But how were you supposed to explain to her why you hid it? There was no reason not to trust her with it, you were just too afraid to tell her.

“You trust me.. don’t you?” She asked genuinely. And it made your heart hurt. Of course you did. How could you ever create that doubt in her mind?

You felt shy under her gaze, and small as every emotion of this conversation hit you at once. Quickly you hid into her arms. Knowing it was okay, seeking her comfort. “i trust you.. i didn want you to think different of me…” you barely mumbled against her skin.

“Nothing in this world could ever stop me from loving you. You know that. Don’t you, darling?” Morticia murmured as she wrapped her gentle arms around you. Letting you hide and nuzzle against her chest. Her warmth was more than welcome, and she was happy to hear your tone slip as you hid.

“Oh my... how adorable you are, little one. I can’t believe you’ve kept this adorable little part of yourself from me!” She says playfully, like it’s an insult to her that you dare do such a thing.

“it’s scary!!” You reason, looking up at her with a pout and she smiles down at you, gently cupping your face. “I can only imagine, my dear. Thank you for letting me comfort you with this.. even if it took you a little.”

Morticia made your fears feel so validated. Some of your friends would’ve called you a fool for thinking it was unwelcome, or something they’d reject. But Morticia knew this was a big thing, not just for you but to every regressor. It was a valid fear to have, and she made sure to reassure you that it was all okay, specifically with her. To her, it was just about this. About you allowing her to see this side of you, and letting her be there for you. That’s all she cared about.

“I have a question for you, darling.. and I’m not expecting you to have an answer for me right away, okay? Or even agree.” Nodding, you sat up and started listening intently, since it was so important to her.

“Good.. well, I was thinking maybe I could take care of you when you’re like this, so you don’t have to do it all alone. Maybe you’d like me to be your official caregiver, you could call me momma and everything. How does that sound?”

She paused for a moment, but she couldn’t help but try to convince you a little more. “I promise to take care of you with all my love. I’ll make sure you’re happy and comfortable, safe and sound.”

It was rare to hear a tone of unsureness from Morticia. A woman who practically bathed in power and confidence was speaking to you so gently, almost trying to convince you.

Obviously you were overjoyed by the mere suggestion of it. She wanted to be your caregiver? Loving, gentle, Morticia. Your love. She wanted to care for you. She found you adorable.

Immediately you crashed into her with another hug, leaving her surprise with the force of it from your little self. “Oh!” Chuckling, she kissed the top of your head before gently caressing your hair. “I’ll assume that’s a yes, my dear?”

“my momma.” You confirmed quietly, and Morticia's heart leaped. “Yes darling.. your momma.”

Proposing to Lydia during her dad's wake in front of a huge crowd, everyone is appalled including Lydia herself. This man is earning one hell of a death.

Is there any real purpose to Lydia wearing what's essentially her schoolgirl outfit? We really could be expanding her wardrobe a little more, I liked the Morticia Addams dress she wore on the TV set. Some of you might not want to hear this, but we are losing out on huge goth mommy potential.

I did get a spoiler on TVTropes that Astrid's quirky little meet cute boyfriend is a ghost. To be honest, I feel like this is the weakest plotline. It's like there was this entire story happened offscreen and we're just seeing the aftermath of it and left to collect scraps of context. And I say this knowing full well thanks to another spoiler that Delores hunting down Beetlejuice goes nowhere. That's simply how uninvested I am in Jenna Ortega being a 'teenager' whose personality is "ugh my weird mom SUCKS I wish my family was NORMAL". What do you get when someone is countering the culture of someone who's already counter-culture?

Okay, well, they did just canonize that the sandworms are supernatural beings and not just aliens that live on Saturn/Titan.

Oh, I thought for sure Astrid was going to be the one to say his name three times.

Lydia is being manipulated, Astrid is being manipulated...Jesus Christ. You know, I think it would have made the plot a little tidier if Jeremy was actually BJ in disguise doing the same plan he tried with Lydia but smarter. Speaking of which, it's definitely a bit unwelcome the Juice seems to have evolved the bit into an actual attraction towards Lydia.

Well, as much as I love Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz and Michael Keaton as Betel "BJ" geuse, I have to admit this film did not offer much except for the vibes. Luckily, that was basically all I was expecting from it.

So Rory got eaten by the sandworm, right? According to the page in the handbook which I paused because I knew it would be a freeze-frame bonus, a human getting eaten by one causes them to live as a million tiny particles in the afterlife. Which doesn't exactly sound like a pleasant existence. Fuck that guy.

Hellooooooooo love! I have a prompt idea for an agere fic for you.

Idea: Larissa and r have been dating for a while. They live together, r being an English teacher (an extremely talented and beautiful English teacher). Anywho, it's a Friday and the school is crazy because it'd almost the weekend and that means no teachers and all fun. That morning, r woke up with a headache, like someone who hitting them in the back of their head. They new they needed to regress and Larissa noticed too and suggested it. But, r being the stubborn one she is, refused and got ready for her classes. All throughout the day r's headache kept getting worse and she was so thankful when the bell rang signaling the end of the school day. Just before r was going to leave Larissa showed up, took r's things and they walked back to their rooms together. Once there, r saw that Larissa had gotten everything ready for her. All her stuffies were out, her coloring books and utensils were out. R's favorite stuffy and blanket and sippy were layed out on the bed ready for r. After setting her stuff down Larissa turns to r and tells her it's okay to slip, and she'll be there to take care of her and make sure she is comfortable. R ends up feeling comfortable to slip, and Larissas little bunny comes out. Then, for the rest of the night Larissa and r (bunny) color, eat snacks and drink from her sippy (coke) and watch some TV or movies r likes. At the end of the night they get ready for bed and r snuggles up to Larissa and Larissa just holds her and whispers sweet praises into r's hair as she falls asleep.

These were pre written a few days ago but I haven’t had the confidence to write something new yet*

Larissa always tells you that you're stubborn. That is just a plain fact yet you refuse to admit it. Living with you for a year and being together for three meant Larissa had got quite good at knowing when you needed to regress. Most of the time your regressing would be triggered by anxiety or trauma dates. And the Friday where classes would happen before parents arrived for parent's weekend was filled with nothing but anxiety and stress. Morticia Addams would be attending and after the last time it was safe to say the weekend would be anything but enjoyable.

Larissa knew that when you woke up you had a headache, the way you squinted at the slither of light entering the room, or the way you scrunched your nose up in defeat. The small yet pained whimper you let free was the final clue. Yet you still insisted on pretending you were fine and you'd carry out your classes like nothing was wrong despite the sensation of being beaten with a bat. So you picked up your chosen books for todays lessons which were all based on Shakespearean Tragedies such as Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth and headed to your classroom with a kiss to your lover. You'd be fine, you had to be. Slipping here and now would be inappropriate.

As the day trickled on, your headache grew to the point it was throbbing as if you were being repeatedly beaten with a spiked baseball bat. But you'd pushed on despite the anxiety induced dizziness and sickness the headache was bringing on. Larissa must have had a sixth sense with you as she ended up in your classroom at the end of the day to see you leant over the trash can as a particular bout of dizziness which left you feeling rather sick. At least this time all you that happened was a feeling. Somehow, you and Larissa silently made your way to your joint bedroom where you were met with the sight of your stuffies lining the bed, colouring books pens and pencils laid out on the bed along with your favourite bunny blanket and sippy cup.

Tears sprang into your eyes at the thoughtfulness your lover showed and even when she turned to face you, taking the items from your hands to cup your cheek, "go ahead darling it's all for you. I'll be right here with you okay?" She murmured before placing a sweet kiss to your forehead. Being in her arms and cared for in such a gentle way had you finally giving into your regression. "Hello little bunny" she murmured causing you to giggle and blow kisses to the blonde. "Mommaaaaaa" you giggled happily as the blonde kissed all over your face, enjoying seeing you pain free for the first time all day. "That's right bunny. Momma got your colours out little darling shall we?" She put on her formal accent which caused you to giggle even more and nodded.

You happily sat with the blonde colouring together, you doing your best to focus your little mind on staying in the lines and Larissa allowing a few moments of relaxation from her stressful week while watching you. Only when you flushed a bright red colour from embarrassment at your stomach making noises. "Food time for my bunny baby" she informed and you pouted, "sippy momma?" A quick pointed look from your momma had a "Pwease" tumbling from your lips following your request. "Water bunny?"

"No!" You stomped your foot before you even realised what your done. "Coke Pwease I sowrry momma" you whimpered before standing to give her a hug. "Thank you bunny why don't you go finish your picture for momma and I'll grab us something yummy okay?" You nodded happily returning to your colouring. Larissa then simply grab your desired snack and sippy before returning to the bed where she would turn the television on and allow you to snuggle into her warmth. It wasn't long before you were dozing off against the blonde and she immediately began your bed time routine during regression. That was how you found yourself in your bunny nightshirt and some sleep shorts with Larissa praising and cooing into your beautiful soft hair. "Nini momma" you sleepily mumbled as you drifted off to sleep. Not before she murmured a "night my bunny" to you.

What the Hell is Lurch?

Lurch being improbably tall and flat-headed clearly had some inspiration from the Boris Karloff Frankenstein monster.

In the 1960s TV show he speaks like the Karloff Frankenstein monster when he was just learning how to talk.   However he is depicted having a family.   In one episode Lurch's mother comes to visit and Lurch is embarrassed that he's "Just a butler" so The Addams' decide to help by pretending to be his servants.  It's sweet. In the 1990s Addams Family when Gomez temporarily loses all of his money Lurch stays with them, clearly not caring if he’s paid or not. He’s family.

in the Addams family musical Gomez says “Living, dead...” then he looks at Lurch “And undecided”  In the 2019 CG animated Addams Family movie Lurch is an escaped psychiatric patient.   The Addams’s consider him an Addams, which is sweet.  In the 1960s Adams Family Fester was Morticia’s Uncle.  In the 90s Addams family he was Gomez’s brother (and that has stuck ever since).  With Grandmama they often change who she’s the mother of.  In the 60s show she was Gomez’s mother and Morticia’s mother was “Mrs. Frump” played by Margret Hamilton (Wicked Witch of the West in the original Wizard of Oz).  In the Broadway musical Gomez exclaims “My mother!?  I thought she was your mother!” and then they just shrug it off.  They just adopted Grandmama when she could have just been some random homeless person who wandered in one day and that’s just sweet.   It seems if you want to be an Addams that’s all it takes to be accepted as an Addams and that makes them the ideal family.

But getting back on topic... 

So what the Hell is Lurch besides being their butler and adopted Addams?  Is he a Frankenstein-style monster?  A zombie?  A psychiatric patient? Or is he just from New Jersey?

“Here,” he hands you a pen “A good artist always signs their work.” He says and you sigh, a smile spreading acrossed your face as Morticia helps you take it out of the coloring book.

The Addams Family: Mystery Mansion

No other Addams games were produced for more than 15 years, until the tie-in to the 2019 CG animated movie, that features grotesque character designs seemingly based upon the original 1930s print cartoons. As a sign of the times, it is a mobile app instead of a console game. Developed by Pixowl, a studio specialized in making mobile games based on other family-friendly properties (including Garfield and Goosebumps), it’s described as a “home builder simulator” since the film starts with the newlyweds Gomez and Morticia finding their new home, but in practice it’s yet another example of those endless addictive mobile apps that were satirized by a South Park episode (and then South Park itself got its own mobile game anyway, so…).

Re: overall tumblr top 10: I think it’s funny that my throwaway moodboards are often some of the most popular content on my blog. Things I’m just like ‘ooh I gotta make this’ are mixed in with requests, I think that’s interesting! Ms. Frizzle just blowing away the competition, that’s amazing and I love it. Nothing is even close to how popular she is, and she deserves it. Jack Skellington coming onto the list twice? Come through king, I would love to write a full fic in Halloweentown sometime. 

Generally, the more ‘alternative’ characters seem to get a lot more attention on my blog: The Pumpkin King, Morticia, Wybie, Sundrop and Moondrop... Tiana and Naveen really snuck up there though! 

Moving onto the more direct fic comparison: 

....well this made me realize that I never published my Sanders Sides fics from this blog on AO3, whoops 

Setting that aside, fics with angst and plot tend to do better on AO3, while fluffy stories do better on tumblr: Sugary Sweet doesn’t even hit my top 10 on AO3 and it’s one of the fluffiest fics I’ve ever written, coming in at #5 on the tumblr list 

On the other hand, Only Heaven I’ll Be Sent To is by far one of my best performing fics on AO3, but comes in at number 6 (tied with another fic) on tumblr, probably because it features a lot of action and gore alongside the fluffy agere elements, same for Restrained showing up on the AO3 top but not tumblr’s. 

My Harry Potter fics do way better on tumblr, which is interesting? Maybe Harry Potter fans are still reading their fics on independent forums? Or Harry Potter folks on AO3 don’t cross over much with the agere crowd. (Or maybe they’re just overloaded with /reader fics) I haven’t been actually into the HP community since around 2011 so I’m not sure what’s up there. 

Big shoutout to Class Outing for dominating the top of both lists: BNHA is such a big fandom that it makes sense, and I wrote that fic on @agere-fandom-time, which I think got more interaction than this blog: it seems like people are more comfortable interacting with a group-run blog, rather than an individual writer. Or maybe that’s a natural consequence of more writers putting out more consistent content, letting the blog get bigger. I’m not sure! Either way, even if I’m not into BNHA anymore, I feel like it’s a good piece of my writing, so I’m happy for it to be my top spot.

Random Thought Before Bed: I Couldn’t Even Think of a Clever Title for This Post

Well, this is a first for me. While I don’t review every movie I watch (surprising as that may seem), I have never abandoned a piece mid-draft because I ran out of things to say. But that’s exactly what happened when I sat down to sort through my... complicated feelings towards the recent CG-animated adaptation of The Addams Family (God, it’s embarrassing to admit that). Despite my utter failure to prove my argument, I remain... begrudgingly proud of what little I actually managed to produce, so I’ve decided to copy and paste it below.

Because I can’t let all the time and effort I wasted on writing it amount to nothing.

I wish I could say that I loved the new CG-animated adaptation of The Addams Family. Heck, I’d settle for being able to say that I hated it; unfortunately, my opinion is too... complex to be reduced to such simplistic terms.

The movie definitely has its black, shriveled heart in the right place. Like the beloved 1960s television series and Barry Sonnenfeld’s decidedly more macabre cinematic spin, it mines plenty of comedic gold out of the clash between the titular clan’s creepy, kooky lifestyle and the “ordinary” world they inhabit. Indeed, in many ways, it even expands upon this core theme. This version of Morticia, for example, has grown bitter and disillusioned following a few too many encounters with angry, torch-wielding mobs; thus, she reacts with abject horror when Wednesday begins exploring such “deviant” interests as balloons, glitter, and rainbow-colored hairclips. Gomez is equally flawed, constantly berating Pugsley for favoring explosives over the traditional family saber.

The implication is clear: despite their countercultural trappings, the elder Addamses aren’t really so different from the residents of the sickeningly-saccharine prefab community beyond their cozily foreboding abode—they may reject conventionality, but they still demand a certain degree of conformity, and it’s up to the next generation to help them recognize and overcome their prejudices. Furthermore, this conflict cannot be resolved by overthrowing or forcibly converting the “opposition”; rather, both extremes must accept their differences, work to find common ground, and meet in the middle.

...and that’s where the words ran dry. My reasons for disliking the film (most of which related to the quality of the animation) were simply less specific and interesting than my reasons for enjoying it. And since I wasn’t about to go back and change my thesis statement (I’m no liar), I just kind of... gave up.

And that’s why I chose to pursue a career in film production, rather than film criticism. Can you imagine if I had to have this conversation with my boss?
