Thinking about how when they originally used it it was in the vast end, there weren’t many space constraints

But when he got it back they knew he was gonna to have to use it in a tight space, new he was gonna have to use it in the cave of first breath, where he was destined to take his last

So like. We're at Kaleidoscope vs Prison duo. And I want you to consider;

Kaleidoscope are pretty and all- they're the fluff. All the pet names and cute cuddly fics and artwork show this. Malitae is cautious but eccentric, neverendingly curious and creative. Midas is scarred and hurting, but does care about the well being of others, which is clear from their last conversation with Icarus. They seem to have messed up in some way with their world.

And then we have prison duo. Prison duo are two people who are wartorn and scarred. There's fluff there, but those two have had WAY more time to develop. I remember people once saying that Wolftross was a cute relationship, and then people countering it with no- those two found each other after years of being worn down with the world, clutching onto each other like they were the final light in the middle of a neverending darkness.

Icarus and Centross, to me, are another type of relationship like this. They've gone from being partners in crime (with a bit of a spiteful yet friendly relationship) to enemies to close friends. They've seen each other cry and fight and beaten and bruised and evil and snarling and shaking from fear. They've been through most things that throw wrenches in relationships. Yet Violet still hovered over Icarus and told them that they weren't alone, even though icarus hadn't done anything to stop his death.

These two CARE. There is something special about being able to turn to the man who taunted you and hurt you and still call him a friend. There's something special about being able to look at the person who locked you in a prison and almost killed you and still stay near them. There is something special, that after all of this, these two were still friends. And they could be more.

I personally do see them as a QPR. The relationship between these two couldn't just stick as a normal one and them still be around each other. I don't think they'd really be romantic, though I can understand the hype.

To me, though I love and adore Kaleidoscope, Prison Duo has much more backing in the sheer amount these two had to go through.

Take your pick between the two; Rainbow, fluff based smiles and kisses; or war-torn scars healing with smiles and years of cautiously earned trust?

Hehe I got silly and wrote an AU where centross remembers Icarus before everyone else. Anyway for some context this takes place a few years before chronicles of wonder, Veah is probably around 2-3 at this point.

Icarus' the name rung in Violet's ears. It felt familiar to him, though he knew he had never met an 'Icarus'. Rae's bother was named Icarus but he had died far to young for Violet to have ever met them...or did they, perhaps Violet was remembering wrong. The more he thought about it the more his memories seemed to twist and change, something was wrong but he couldn't figure out what...or why.

Violet looked out his window up at the evening sky, he didn't know why but it felt right.

"Icarus" he mumbled to himself. For a second it seemed like the sky shifted at his words, but Violet brushed it off as his eyes playing tricks on him again. He say staring out his window for a while, a million questions racing through his mind, his thoughts were going far to fast to capture anything coherent.

Suddenly a knock at his door brought his thoughts back to the present. Quickly turning his head over his shoulder, Violet saw the familiar face of Fenris. In his arms was Veah wrapped in a soft looking yellow blanket, her eyes were opening and closing slowly as she seemed to be fighting off sleep."

Hi love," Fenris said, his eye bags looking extra heavy.

"Hi love, you look tired" Violet said as he stood up from where he was sitting and began to walk over to Fenris.

"Yeah tell me about it. Anyways, I was hoping that maybe you could watch this little one for just a second while I change and maybe take a shower."

"Yeah of course, take your time."

As Violet took Veah from Fenris' arms fenris gave Violet a small kiss, a sort of thank you. Veah squirmed a bit as she was picked up, her hands still trying to hold onto Fenris' shirt.

As she was being pulled away Veah said a small, "papa-" "

Yeah I know kiddo but he'll be back soon," Violet said before fully embracing her.

Violet never really knew what to do when handed a kid, he had always been much more of a fighter than a caretaker. Violet sat back down, this time with Veah curled in his arms, he calmly stroked her back in an attempt to lull her back to sleep.

At some point it seemed that both of them had fallen asleep because some number of hours later Violet woke up with Veah still in his arms and fenris sitting calmly next to them reading.

"Good morning sleepyhead," Fenris said to the barely conscious Violet.

"Gu'mornin," He responded, his voice very deep as it often times was in the mornings.

He handed the still sleeping child to Fenris and stretched his back, he sighed and went to grab a coffee from the cupboard.

"How long has it been?""Hmm I'd say at least 5 hours, but I'm not entirely sure."

"Oh jeez, sorry" Violet responded seeming a bit ashamed that he had fallen asleep.

"It's okay, you two were cute. Anyway I should probably get back home before Rae thinks I died."

Centross chuckled, "alright, see you later then."

Soon after Fenris and Veah left Violet noticed a crumpled piece of paper next to where he has woken up, he could only assume it was Veah's. He picked up the paper, as he unraveled it he noticed what seemed to be a drawing. Veah's art skills weren't the best but at the top of the page she clearly had Rae write "Birdie". the actual art itself seemed to be a scribble of light yellows and grays. Violet could find a discernable shape but somewhere deep down he knew what it was supposed to be, though he couldn't piece it together. He promised himself that he would return the drawing at some point later that day.

He carefully placed the drawing on a table then he walked back to the window where he had been deep in thought the night before. He hadn't noticed at the time but he had drawn an eye on a notebook that had been beside him, though that didn't quite like up either...Violet wasn't very good at drawing but this eye that had seemingly appeared was quite detailed. The eye was purple, much like violets before he ascended. But they eye seemed to have some sort of blood dripping from the base. Violet stood staring at it for a while, now that he thought about it the eye felt familiar too familiar. His ears started to ring making it hard to concentrate on his already shifting memorys. Violets mind finally stopped spinning and concentrated on one moment, one person.

"... Icarus" he mumbled to himself again.

In his mind Violet could almost see him, that stupid yellow and purple trenchcoat that he always wore...and their eye, they never did figure out why it was bleeding.

"Icarus," he mumbled again.

He couldn't get the thought out of his mind, how did he know him? why can't he remember anything about them? Why is he remembering now? And most of all, why did he care? Why did Violet care so much about remembering this person that he's not even sure he has met?

Thinking about how broken Violet sounds when he says that he can’t help Icarus, when he says that they’re perfectly balanced and that thats the problem

Because if they weren’t balanced he could fix it in a moment, he could just get rid of the wack and they’d be okay, and they wouldn’t be in pain anymore, and they wouldn’t be dying, and he’d be able to hold them without both of them knowing that this would be the last time he’d get to do that

But they’re not

They are perfectly balanced, they are exactly where they are meant to be and he can’t do anything about that. No matter how hard he’d try there’s no way he could help them, remove the wack, without screwing over the rest of the world and balance in its entirety

And maybe that’s fitting, they were doomed from the start,

Creation’s son and the Mind’s soldier

Icarus’ very existence and livelihood defied balance, they were meant to die who knows how long ago and the resets saving them set the entire universe off balance and made the universe unstable

But that didn’t stop Balance from wishing he could help them and wishing he could keep them

He wanted to help them get away from fable, he wanted them to know that he was still alive and that they didn’t have to keep hurting

Once Fable was gone, he wanted to keep them alive, keep them there in their world so they could spend time together and he could watch and help them heal

But in the end doing any of that was against the balance, it would harm Balance, it would set the whole world off motion once again, so he had to sit with them before they faded, and forget them once they had

As they had to fix the pieces that were off balance across the multiverse

Currently thinking about how, of all weapons Centross could’ve been given, he was given a freaking scythe. This guy who was just a casual farmer, who probably once used a scythe to help him with his hobby, was now given this new scythe and told to go use it as a weapon. This tool usually used to harvest crops and various things that he took time to help grow and create, later becoming this weapon to harvest innocent souls

I'm just waiting for Violet to make an appearance and just confiscate the reaver off of Fable, like taking a toy from a misbehaving child.

Like, "Ok, it's their turn to have this now, you've had it for too long"

anyway i feel like fable having the domain of luck under his control makes the scales really unbalanced. maybe even so unbalanced that a certain someone is finally allowed to interfere?
