Collecting up my Celeborn fics!
People were being weird to me about Celeborn elsewhere once again (why, whyyyyyyyyy), and this reminded me I wanted to collect up all the stories I'd written about him, so! These are a collection of Silmarillion/LOTR and Rings of Power canon (but since we don't know much about him in that yet, my headcanon TROP Celeborn is the Doriathrin prince version of his many canon backgrounds).
Softest of Tongues (Silm-LOTR) - Galadriel/Celeborn, from the First Age to the Third, canon-compliant, tagged ‘Sapir-Whorf hypothesis as metaphor for pain at the heart of your marriage’. Silmarillion and LOTR.
Fair as the Sea and the Sun (LOTR) - Galadriel/Celeborn, Galadriel takes the Ring from Frodo.
All the kinds of alive you can be (TROP) - Sauron/Galadriel/Celeborn and all component ships thereof. What if Sauron shapechanged to look like Galadriel, wouldn’t that be fun :)
Say it like the sunrise when it’s talking to the fog (LOTR) - Celeborn/Glorfindel, Celeborn/Galadriel. Glorfindel has come back from the dead a little too bright.
Civil Twilight (TROP), Galadriel/Celeborn, Galadriel/Sauron - Galadriel and Celeborn reunion that goes somewhat poorly but gets better. Also Haladriel.
All that Glitters (TROP) - a story about where on earth he is in Rings of Power.
Rarer gifts than gold (Silm) - Celeborn/Annatar. Because I like the idea of one of Annatar’s gifts being to whisper the names of all the dead of Doriath when nobody else in Eregion dares mention it.
A Green Thought in a Green Shade (TROP) - Galadriel/Celeborn, another TROP reunion fic, playing around with the good old amnesia trope.
When all the leaves are gold (Silm) - Galadriel/Celeborn, Doriath is creepy and so are the Noldor.
So Wide a Sea (TROP and LOTR) - Galadriel/Sauron and Galadriel/Celeborn; Galadriel before her final ship departs.
To hold all the promise of blue-velvet dark (TROP) - Celeborn/Sauron and Celeborn/Galadriel, more Sauron shapechanging into Galadriel featuring half-Maia Amroth.
And a collection of TROP ficlets of Celeborn raising half-Maia Celebrían in the best Tolkien tradition of Dad Who Stepped Up, Celeborn/Galadriel and Galadriel/Sauron:
Suo Gân - Arda Sahta - As little might be thought.
Updating with more recent additions:
Brighten my northern sky (Silm) - Celeborn/Glorfindel, background Celeborn/Galadriel, customs in Doriath are different :)
I do not hope to bind the wind (LOTR) - Galadriel/Celeborn, a couple of moments in Third Age Lothlorien.
As certain dark things are loved (Silm) - Galadriel/Annatar/Celeborn, one summer in Ost-in-Edhil when Celebrimbor is away.
And there will come soft rains (TROP, but 4th Age) - Celeborn/Sauron, background Celeborn/Galadriel and Galadriel/Sauron. At some point during the 24352th Twitter ship war discourse I joked that if we're talking about endgame pairings it's Celeborn and Sauron who remain on Middle-earth at the end of LOTR - and then I thought "oh, hmmm, I bet I could write that..."
Lands far away (TROP) - Celeborn & Gandalf, background Celeborn/Galadriel - written during S2, using the idea that he is one of the Gaudrim and that's how he meets Gandalf.
Five places Celeborn hasn't spent the past eight hundred years (TROP) - Galadriel/Celeborn, Celeborn/Sauron - again written during s2, five different ficlets on five different fan theories about where he might be: 1) actually dead and sent back from Valinor, 2) he's Adar, 3) lost with amnesia (featuring single-dad-of-Amroth Celeborn as per one scribbled JRRT note), 4) Gaudrim, 5) just hanging out in a forest.
Always coming home the same castaway (TROP), Galadriel/Sauron/Celeborn, one-shot for a canon divergent post-s1 storyline in which Galadriel doesn't learn who Halbrand is.
The names of our wounds (TROP), post-s2 WIP - Galadriel/Sauron/Celeborn and all ship combinations therein.

𖤓 Caught in the Fires of a Siege During an attack on a stronghold, Glorfindel is trapped in the flames while ensuring others escape. The reader/you braves the inferno to pull him out just before the structure collapses.
𖤓 The air around you was thick with smoke, acrid and stinging, as the great stronghold was consumed by chaos. War had come, and the battle raged across every inch of the fortress. The sound of clashing swords, the war cries of the enemies, and the crackling of the inferno that slowly devoured the buildings mixed in a cacophony of terror. Yet through it all, one figure stood resolute—Glorfindel. Amid the carnage and confusion, his golden form seemed like a beacon in the night. He was everywhere, commanding soldiers with precision and urging the civilians to flee. His voice was calm yet powerful, cutting through the madness like the edge of a blade. Even now, though his once-gleaming armor was tarnished with soot and ash, he radiated an otherworldly presence, his golden hair still catching the dim light of the fire.
𖤓 His movements were graceful but urgent, like an ancient being who had witnessed the rise and fall of kingdoms, yet was never deterred by the weight of his burdens. As he rallied those around him, you couldn’t help but notice the way the flames danced around him, almost as if they respected him, parting just enough to let him pass. But then, the earth trembled beneath your feet, and the sharp crack of stone and wood splitting echoed through the war zone. You turned just in time to see it—a massive pillar, weakened by the assault, now crumbling from the ceiling above Glorfindel.
𖤓 “Glorfindel!” you shouted, though your voice was swallowed by the roar of flames and battle cries. His back was turned, and he was so focused on aiding his soldiers, unaware of the impending disaster that loomed just behind him. Time seemed to stretch. You could hear the furious crackle of the fire as it consumed everything in its path, the sounds of men shouting in desperation, the clash of steel, and the unmistakable noise of the falling pillar. Your heartbeat thundered in your chest as you assessed the distance—there was no time. You couldn’t think; you could only act.
𖤓 Without a second thought, you sprinted through the smoke, weaving between scattered wreckage and fallen soldiers. The heat was unbearable, the air thick with smoke that made it almost impossible to see. But your focus remained only on one thing—Glorfindel. With all your strength, you launched yourself forward, your body slamming into his just as the pillar began its descent. The force of the impact sent him sprawling to the ground, but you held him fast, your grip unwavering as you dragged him to safety. The pillar crashed just a mere breath away, sending tremors through the ground, a thunderous sound that nearly drowned out everything else. Dust and debris filled the air, choking the both of you, as you pulled him with all your might into the shadow of a nearby wall. Every muscle screamed in protest, but you didn’t stop until the danger had passed.
𖤓 Panting, you both collapsed into the blackened earth, the acrid scent of burning wood and flesh in the air. The fire roared behind you, but for a moment, there was silence. Glorfindel lay there for a long moment, the weight of the near-death experience settling over him. His golden eyes, which were usually filled with strength and unwavering determination, were now wide with a rare emotion—shock. His chest heaved as he gasped for air, eyes flicking over to you with an expression that was part disbelief, part awe. “Why… why did you risk your life for me?” His voice was softer than usual, a tremor in it that you had never heard before. He pushed himself up, wincing as the movement aggravated his wounds, his fingers brushing over a scorch mark on his breastplate. The armor had protected him, but it was clear that the fire had left its mark, even if just a bruise on his soul.
𖤓 You met his gaze, your heart pounding, feeling the weight of his words. “Because it was the right thing to do,” you said, your voice steady despite the adrenaline coursing through your veins. “I couldn’t just let you die here.” A pause. His eyes softened as he studied you, his usual calm composure slowly returning, but something remained unspoken in his expression. He didn’t speak immediately, instead letting his gaze linger on you, searching your face as if to understand the depths of your sacrifice. “Thank you,” he said quietly, the words more profound than any battle cry or speech. “I would have been lost without you.” His voice held a rawness that you hadn’t expected, and it struck a chord deep within you.
𖤓 His gratitude—deep, unwavering—was not one of the common, polite thanks you were used to hearing. No, this was something more. It was the expression of a soul who had nearly lost everything, only to be saved by someone they had not expected to come. You both sat in silence for a moment, the distant sounds of battle still echoing through the stronghold. The fire continued to rage behind you, but for now, there was a strange peace in the air. Glorfindel looked at you, his face finally softening into a smile. It was faint but genuine, the kind that reached his eyes and made them shine brighter than the flames around you. “You have my gratitude, beyond words.” His hand reached for your shoulder, squeezing it briefly. The simple act was almost too much, a silent gesture that conveyed more than words ever could.
𖤓 He looked down for a moment, his golden hair falling in front of his face as he collected himself. When he raised his head again, you could see the quiet vulnerability in his eyes, the quiet recognition of the connection between you two. “You risked your life not for duty, but for me.” He spoke slowly, the words weighted. “Few would do that… even fewer would survive to say it.” You could feel his words settle in your chest, warming you as he gave you a rare, unguarded look—one that revealed just how much your actions had affected him. In the midst of this chaos, in the midst of war and fire and death, Glorfindel—brave, noble Glorfindel—had been moved. And that meant more than anything. The two of you sat there for a long time, the world around you still burning, but in that fleeting moment, everything else faded. There was only the bond forged between you in the face of death—a bond that would never be broken, no matter what else happened in the battle to come.

🩵𝓒𝓮𝓵𝓮𝓫𝓸𝓻𝓷
𖣂 Ambushed by Spies in Lothlórien Enemies infiltrate Lothlórien, ambushing Celeborn during a quiet moment. The reader/you intercepts the attack just in time, defeating the spies and ensuring Celeborn’s safety.
𖣂 It was a rare moment of quiet in Lothlórien. The sun filtered through the dense canopy of golden leaves, casting dappled light across the forest floor. Celeborn stood beneath a towering mallorn tree, his gaze drifting upward to the shimmering boughs, where the ancient tree’s leaves glinted like precious metal in the sunlight. The air was still, the only sound the gentle rustling of the leaves and the distant song of birds in the lofty heights. Here, in this sacred space, Lothlórien’s tranquility had always been a refuge for the Lord of the Golden Wood. For a fleeting moment, he closed his eyes, allowing himself to feel the pulse of the forest—the soft, eternal rhythm of the place he had protected for so long. A moment of peace, far from the shadows of war and the pressing dangers of the world outside. But in such a sacred space, peace was always fragile.
𖣂 As Celeborn stood, deep in thought, the faintest sound reached his ears—so subtle it could have been the rustling of the trees. But the air had changed, the serenity replaced with the faintest sense of tension. His eyes snapped open, and for an instant, the calm demeanor that so often defined him faltered. There were no immediate signs of danger, but Celeborn’s instincts were honed by centuries of experience. He could feel it—a disturbance in the natural order, like a ripple in still waters. Before he could move, the first of the intruders made their move, darting from the underbrush with a speed borne of desperation. In an instant, Celeborn was surrounded. Two more spies emerged from the shadows, their movements swift and precise as they encircled him, weapons drawn, aiming for the Elven lord’s unprotected back.
𖣂 The Lord of Lothlórien stood motionless, his expression one of calm composure, but within him, the old warrior stirred. He would not fall easily, not in his realm. Yet, even as the enemies advanced, Celeborn’s posture remained fluid, almost too serene. His hands rested lightly at his sides, his attention on them—but he did not yet act. The ambush was well-planned, but Celeborn had lived through many battles and survived greater threats. However, he had no desire to engage in unnecessary violence, especially not when the sanctuary of his realm was at stake. It was then that the first sign of intervention came, a blur of motion from the corner of his eye.
𖣂 You, ever watchful, had been nearby—moving through the trees, perhaps scouting or simply enjoying the stillness of the Wood. You had sensed the shift in the air as Celeborn had. And now, as the spies drew closer, you were there, as silent as the shadows themselves, stepping between Celeborn and his would-be assailants with the precision of someone who knew the terrain as well as their own skin. The first spy lunged at Celeborn, aiming a dagger at his vulnerable side. But before the strike could land, your blade intercepted, the sharp steel meeting the enemy’s weapon with a metallic ring. The force of the clash caused the spy to stagger back, surprise flashing in their eyes.
𖣂 With swift precision, you dispatched the first spy, your movements fluid and practiced. You spun, knocking another would-be assailant off balance before swiftly disarming him. The third spy, realizing that their ambush had been thwarted, turned to flee, but you were quicker—closing the distance between you with a few rapid steps, your blade a blur. Within moments, the threat was neutralized, the forest now eerily silent once more. Celeborn had not moved a step. His gaze, steady and unflinching, had remained on the spies the entire time, but it was not in anger or fear—it was an expression of quiet appreciation. His calm demeanor had not wavered, even as the danger had passed in the blink of an eye.
𖣂 The soft rustle of your movements settling back into place was the only sound that remained. Celeborn turned to face you, his normally reserved expression now a gentle, knowing smile. He did not rush to speak, but when he did, his voice was low and filled with quiet gratitude. “You have my thanks, my friend,” he said, his voice rich with both reverence and admiration. “Your timing was flawless, and your skill unparalleled. Lothlórien’s safety is not often threatened in such a manner, but it seems I have been fortunate today to have someone as capable as you at my side.”
𖣂 His eyes lingered on you for a moment, and in them, there was something more than just gratitude—something deeper. Celeborn, though ever gracious, was not one to offer praise lightly. He had seen many warriors in his long life, and yet something about your actions had moved him. His admiration for you was not just for the skill with which you had dispatched the enemies, but for the loyalty and courage that had driven you to act. He took a step closer, his movements dignified but unhurried. “You honor me, and the realm of Lothlórien, with your presence. Should the need ever arise, know that I would trust no other to watch over this Wood.”
𖣂 There was a quiet humility in his words, a recognition that although he was the lord of Lothlórien, in this moment, his safety had been secured not by his own hand but by yours. And that, in itself, was a rare and deeply appreciated gift. Celeborn stood still, composed as ever, yet there was an unmistakable warmth in his gaze, the kind of warmth that only someone who had witnessed countless dangers and lived through untold years of solitude could truly appreciate. You had proven yourself, and in doing so, you had earned not only his gratitude but his trust. “Thank you,” he said, his voice steady but sincere. “You have my deepest respect.”

The Shadow and the Sunrise
Here is the final chapter. Thank you all for reading and I hope you will enjoy it! Read at AO3 here.
Summary: The elves complete their move across the river and away from the encroaching darkness while Thranduil and Ranyare prepare for their wedding and new life together (safe for work)
Work on their new homes continued into Autumn and before the first snow of Winter fell, all the elves of the Woodland Realm had moved across the river. Scout troops continued to monitor the progression of the darkness into their forest and by the time the move was completed, it had engulfed nearly the entirety of the Greenwood. As Thranduil had hoped, the malevolent force did not cross the water and while the size of his realm had greatly shrunk, he did not mind as his people were safe. Extensive work had been done on the caverns to make them into livable quarters and the king beamed with a great sense of pride as so many of his kind had lived in similar abodes throughout their long history.
“I know these halls are not as grand as Nargothrond or Menegroth, but they are still a beautiful wonder” Thranduil said as he and Ranyare toured their new home. “It is amazing how much this space has been transformed. My room is so lovely and instead of the stone feeling cold and lifeless, it actually seems warm and inviting” she explained as they walked along one of the corridors that led to a small waterfall. “I hope you will not get too attached to it. Come Spring, we will move into our shared chamber” he said as they were both living in what were meant to be guest rooms as work continued on their expansive suite. “I am counting the days till then dear one” she said wistfully as they paused and stood hand in hand watching the clear water that fell from a small shaft down into a pool and then out again down a stream flowing through one of the tunnels. Sunlight glittered on the water making it appear as if diamonds instead of water were falling down before them. Thranduil smiled at the magnificent sight and mused, “This is my favorite place in all these caverns. It makes me think of you, and the change you have brought about in my life. Knowing you, loving you, has been like the sun rising and wiping all the darkness and shadows away.” He raised her hand to his lips and tenderly kissed her knuckles. Her eyes teared up as she echoed his beautiful sentiment. “My life for such a long time has been lived in the shadows, hiding away and running from the pain of the past. You helped me face it and overcome it. I will never be able to thank you enough for that and for your love. I love you so deeply nin galad (my light).” They embraced and Thranduil replied, “And I love you, Nendil.” “Nendil?” She was a bit confused by this until he explained. “I thought it was time for you to have a new name for you are no long a wanderer. It means lover of the lake and that seemed fitting for you. You do not have to use it if you do not like it.” She looked up at him with a big, beaming smile and said, “I love it and so Nendil I shall be from now until the end of days.”
Invitations were soon sent to Imladris and Lothlórien regarding the upcoming royal nuptials. Nendil attached the invitation along with a letter she wrote to the carrier bird that would travel the long distance to the Grey Havens. She let it go and watched as the bird rose higher into the sky and further away until it could no longer be seen. “Do you think she will make it?” she asked Thranduil who stood beside her on the hill. “Let us hope she will. I know how much you would like to see him again.” “It is such a long way. I will understand if he is not able to come.” Nendil tried to put on a brave face but Thranduil knew how disappointed she would be if Círdan was unable to attend their wedding. “Come now, let us go on our picnic and enjoy this beautiful day” he said as he picked up their basket and took her hand. Though still in the grip of Winter’s icy fingers, a few sunny days had melted much of the snow and Thranduil meant to take full advantage of this.
“You spoil me too much nin galad” Nendil said as he spread out a blanket and then filled their glasses with wine. He also laid out the food including her favorite cheeses, crackers, and honey cakes. “I do not believe I have yet spoiled you enough nin anor mír (my sunshine).” He reached into the basket and pulled out a small black velvet drawstring bag and handed it to her. “Thranduil, another gift?!” she said with delight and surprise. Ever since she accepted his proposal, he had bestowed many gifts upon her including new dresses, perfumes, vanity items, and jewelry. “It is not much, but I thought you might like it.” She opened the bag and pulled out a roughly oval shaped stone. Her mouth opened in awe as she held it in her palm and admired its beautiful blue-green color. “I remembered your description of Cuiviénen and the color of the water. I found it near the edge of the pool under the waterfall and thought it might be a good match.” “It is perfect” she said unable to take her eyes away from the thoughtful gift. “I shall keep it with me always.” She put the stone in the specially made pocket of her gown where she also kept her knife. Thranduil chuckled and noted that the tailor may need to make her clothes with larger pockets in the future. “Only if a certain ellon continues to give me such wonderful and heartfelt gifts” she jokingly retorted.
--
“Trust me, nin anor mír, you have no cause to be uneasy. Everyone who meets you cannot help but be taken with you.” Thranduil’s words did help to calm Nendil’s nerves about meeting their wedding guests who would soon arrive but a part of her still felt hesistant. “I may be about to marry a king but I do not quite feel like a queen. What if they do not think I belong with you, or with them? They are descendants of high kings and Maia and you are not only a king but a brave warrior of the highest skill. I am a simple Nelyar elf who is special do only to my advanced age.” Thranduil tenderly brushed her cheek with the back of his fingers and then moved his hand down to caress her shoulder. “Your age alone is not what makes you special. You have a gentle, calming presence and a quiet inner strength that shines out through your lovely eyes. Eyes that have seen both good and evil and that look out into the world with renewed hope instead of despair. No one would dare to question your worth or place as a queen.” “How do you always know the perfect words to say?” she said as she put her arms around his waist and pulled him close in a warm embrace. “Because I love you.”
Nendil’s fears were completely unnecessary as their guests found her as enchanting as her soon-to-be husband did. Elrond, his wife Celebrían, their daughter Arwen, and Glorfindel made up the delegation from Imladris. Their sons were left behind in Lord Elrond’s place, to guard over their realm. Galadriel and her husband Celeborn, Celebrían’s parents, came from Lothlórien where they had recently become the Lord and Lady of the Golden Wood after the disappearance of King Amroth who had gone in search of the elleth he loved. Their first dinner together was held out in the courtyard built for just such a gathering. The early Spring weather was cool and the scent of the first blossoms of the season sweetened the air.
Throughout dinner, Nendil noticed that Glorfindel took a few glances at her wrists. She no longer hid her scars and although they were quite faded, they were visible as her gown had elbow length sleeves. She was beginning to feel a bit self-conscious about them but once, when she caught him eyeing them, he gave her a smile and she felt as if he understood. After dinner, Nendil seeing they were low on wine, said she would go and fetch more bottles. Glorfindel offered to go with her. “I hope you are not intending to steal my fiancé away” Thranduil joked as the golden-haired elf was quite handsome and very charismatic. “I can clearly see she only has eyes for you, although I cannot imagine why” his old friend said with a laugh and twinkle in his grey eyes.
“Thranduil, you have found someone quite wonderful and I am very happy for you” Elrond said sincerely. “Thank you mellon nin. I hope we will have as happy and loving a marriage as you and Celebrían and as long and successful as you two” he said directing his last comments to Celeborn and Galadriel whose marriage had already spanned thousands of years. “When you have the right partner, they give you strength making it easier to navigate the ebbs and flows of life” Celeborn said looking lovingly at his wife. “We will all need strength going forward as I fear the stability and safety we have enjoyed for centuries is waning. I am loath to dampen our happy mood but as you are all aware, something evil has overcome our forest and it may not stay contained with the borders of the Greenwood.” “I was very sorry to hear about this change as I have always enjoyed our visits here. The mountains are, or rather were, so beautiful” Arwen explained as she and her brothers had traveled many times between the two neighboring elven realms of Lothlórien and Greenwood. “Future travel may have to be limited as our focus will need to be on the protection of each of our realms.” Galadriel’s words were true, and they cast a sad pall on the gathering of old and beloved friends. “Sadly, I agree. I would not feel comfortable leaving my realm for an extended period of time and I understand that each of you feel the same” Thranduil explained. “Then I am glad indeed that what may be our last gathering for some time is for such a joyous occasion” Celebrían said as she raised her glass in a toast.
“I beg your pardon for my staring earlier” Glorfindel said as he and Nendil walked together to the king’s personal wine cellar. “No apology is needed, but thank you.” “You and I have something unfortunate in common. We have both been in close proximity to the ultimate evil and have lived to tell the tale.” She looked up at him and saw real understanding in his eyes and expression. “It is a terrible burden, one that time had only slightly lessened, until I met Thranduil.” Glorfindel smiled and said, “I may tease my friend but he is a good ellon and will surely be a good husband. It is quite obvious how much he loves you.” “I was nervous to meet you all but you have been so kind and I am very happy that you are all here to celebrate with us.” “I am as well. I love a good party and feast” he said as she retrieved a couple of bottles and handed them to him. “I hope you do not mind me asking and if you do not wish to speak of it, please do not feel that you must, but I am very curious what it was like to defeat a balrog.” Her words were a bit timid as she realized that was a traumatic event that led to his death and he was only there now as he had been rebodied and sent back to Middle Earth. “I do not mind speaking of it,” he said reassuringly before he continued. “If I could not defeat Morgoth himself, I am glad to have killed that foul creature who was bent to his will. I would willingly give up my life again to stop anymore of his minions who remain.” “I do wish I could have done more. I did kill an orc after I saw Amon Lanc had been taken by them.” “We each do what we can. I believe the best way to defeat the dark is to not let it overcome your light.”
“I simply cannot wait until the wedding day. Naneth and I made this for you both.” Arwen said after Nendil had returned. She had retrieved the gift while waiting for the pair to return with the wine. Thranduil took the large box tied with a green silk ribbon and opened it. He pulled out what appeared to be a tapestry and when he unrolled it, he and Nendil were both in awe of it. Celebrían and Arwen had used their impressive needlework skills to recreate the sketch Thranduil had sent them of Lake Cuiviénen. “It is beautiful. Thank you both” Thranduil said as he continued to marvel at his sketch in this different medium. Diamonds made up the stars that sparkled above the trees and fine threads of Mithril woven through the blue-green water gave it a truly ethereal quality. “I do not believe I have ever seen such beautiful work. This shall hang in our chambers so we will be sure to see it every day. Thank you so much” Nendil said. Mother and daughter were happy that their gift had been so well received and the group spent the rest of the evening enjoying the wine and jovial conversation.
Thranduil walked Nendil to her room and as had become their custom, they kissed goodnight. Thranduil was in such a good mood however, he was not quite ready for the day to end just yet. She opened her door and he asked, “May I come in?” “I am sorry. Only my husband is allowed in my room” she said with a sly smile and teasing tone. “I shall be your husband in a few short days.” He caressed her cheek with his hand as he pulled her towards him and kissed her again. “But you are not my husband yet.” Nendil moved her head to the side to give him greater access as his kisses moved down her neck. “That is but a mere technicality” he said breathily between kisses. She smiled and took his hand as she pulled him into her room and closed the door. “Now what shall we do my soon-to-be but not quite yet husband?” He did not answer but instead gave her a smirk and picked her up and took a few steps toward her bed. “Oh! Thranduil, put me down!” she protested while laughing. He set her feet back on the ground but not until they were next to her bedside table. “I suppose I can wait a bit longer” he said taking her hands in his. He noticed a ball of nettle yarn sitting on the table by the oil lamp and he let go of one of her hands so he could pick it up. “Are you going to knit something?” he asked as he was curious why she had that as she now wore clothes made of fine silk and velvets. She took the yarn ball from him and looked at it, and then back to his eyes that glowed with so much love and admiration for her. “I keep it so I will not forget what my life used to be. It is not just our joys but also our pain that makes us who we are. They are both a part of life. I never want to take my new happiness for granted; I never want to take you for granted.” “Every day I wake up and thank Eru that you will be my wife. It is good to have friends and while they may bring much comfort, you have made me feel whole again after so much loss. Goodnight nin anor mír” Thranduil said sweetly as he kissed her forehead. “Goodnight nin galad” she said softly as they reluctantly parted.
It was now the day before their wedding and Nendil was sitting in the garden of Thranduil’s mother’s plants that flourished in the Spring sunshine as she and Galadriel, Celebrían, and Arwen worked on the flower and ribbon garlands that would decorate the courtyard. Thranduil and Celeborn joined them and after a bit of small talk the king said to his fiancé, “I have a surprise for you.” He then gestured for someone to join them and an ellon with long silver hair and a short white beard stepped out from behind the tall hedge that encircled the garden. “Nowë!” she said with a gasp as she used the name she had known him by so long ago. “Dear Nórime” he said walking towards her and she rushed to him as well and as they embraced, neither one could stop the tears from flowing at such a long-awaited reunion. He leaned down to whisper to her, “We never blamed you for what happened. You did the best you could.” She squeezed him even more tightly and the tears she shed then would be the last that old pain would ever cause her.
For a moment, it was as if they were back at the shores of the lake without a care in the world. The others were anxious to speak to him as it had been a long time since they had been in each other’s company. They were happy to let the pair have as long as they needed and once they finally parted, they walked hand in hand to join their friends. Galion brought them some tea and cakes and then work continued on the garlands as they spoke of many things. “I distinctly remember your hair being as black as a raven’s wing” Círdan said. “I do not recall you having a beard mellon nin.” “I suppose time changes all things, including ourselves” he chuckled in response. Galadriel looked at her husband and teasing him said, “I wonder how you shall look with a beard meleth nin?” They all laughed as Celeborn retorted, “I have many years to go before we may find out.” “Celeborn is going to speak for Thranduil and I want to ask if you would you speak for me tomorrow and give your blessing over our union?” Nendil asked her dear friend as it was custom for the couple’s parents or close friends to do so during weddings. “I would be honored. The only thing that would give me more joy would be to one day see the blessed shores of Aman” he said with a warm smile.
--
The time for the ceremony had come and Thranduil waited for his bride in the sitting room. “I am ready” she said causing him to turn and stare at her with wonder. The sleeveless light pink gown accentuated her figure and looked beautiful with her silver hair and violet eyes. Darker pink flowers and greenery had been embroidered along the bodice, down past the waist, and along the hem.
Tumblr media
“I have never seen anyone more beautiful” he said stepping towards her and taking her hands in his. “You look wonderfully handsome” she replied as his silver tunic with charcoal grey leggings and knee-high black boots made him quite a sight indeed. “You are missing something” he said with a grin as he reached for a box and opened it revealing a silver circlet that matched his own. Nendil bowed slightly and he placed the symbol of her queenship on her head.
When they walked out into the courtyard hand in hand, a great cheer erupted from the gathered elves. The couple smiled and waived as they made their way to a small dais at the front of the crowd where Celeborn and Círdan were already standing. Celeborn began the ceremony as the sun shone bright overhead. “We are gathered here today to celebrate a most joyous occasion, the joining of Thranduil and Nendil in marriage. I have known Thranduil his entire life and am proud to call him my friend. As a child, he would often play in the forest until the late hours and his parents would have to send soldiers out to find him.” The crowd chuckled and then he continued. “I remember a time when Oropher confided in me that he was concerned his son seemed to show no interest in leadership or learning about diplomacy and other skills necessary to be a good prince and maybe someday a king. Of course, Thranduil was only 16 years old.” This got an even bigger laugh. “Those worries were completely unfounded however as you all can attest to his strengths as your king. I am confident his parents would be proud of the leader he has become and of the wonderful elleth he has chosen to be his queen. May the blessings of the Valar and Eru himself make your marriage a strong and happy one” he said concluding his speech as everyone clapped. When the applause died down, Círdan began his blessing. “I cannot express to everyone here how much joy I feel at the happiness my dear friend has found. I can think of no one who deserves it more that she. She has at last found a home and will wander no longer. Thranduil, you are not simply getting a wife or even a queen, but a loyal force of nature who will selflessly fight for you and your people. Cherish each other and let your love be a source of strength for whatever may lie ahead. I second my friend Celeborn’s sentiment in wishing the Valar’s blessings on you both.”
The crowd cheered again as the bride and groom now prepared to share their vows and exchange rings. They were both a bit overcome with emotion but they gathered themselves and began. “Nendil, I Thranduil pledge to you my love, respect, protection, and fidelity all the days of my life.” Celeborn handed him the ring, a gold band with leaves carved into it, and he placed it on her finger. “Thranduil, I Nendil pledge to you my love, loyalty, devotion, and counsel all the days of my life.” Círdan handed her a matching ring and she slid it onto Thranduil’s finger. “To the king and queen!” Celeborn exclaimed as the coupled kissed and the elves boisterously cheered.
The celebration included a wonderful dinner, plenty of Thranduil’s favorite wine, and dancing. Nendil felt as if she was floating as she and Thranduil danced under the setting sun. He whispered something to her causing her to blush and smile from ear to ear. She nodded ‘yes’ and then they snuck away from the crowd and back to their shared chambers. “I hope our guests will not be upset that we left early” she said as Thranduil poured them one last celebratory glass of wine. “I would guess they are surprised we stayed as long as we did” he said matter of factly as he handed her the glass. She giggled as they toasted each other and then drank the sweet, fragrant wine. “I have never had anything like this” Nendil said as she savored the taste. “It is a very special wine that is only produced in small batches. I have saved it for only myself but now, everything I have, everything I am, is yours.” “Nin galad, I love you so very much” she said stepping towards him and wrapping her arms around his neck and he wrapped his around her waist. “Would you care to show me exactly how much you love me?” he whispered into her ear, his breath warm and soft against her skin. “It would be my pleasure aran nin.”

Yes to above! and I have many thoughtson Celeborn (as a character, in various ships, fears/hopes for in TROP etc etc etc), but, another time. What I also think is:
1. ‘Ship and let ship’ is basic fandom manners and a valued fandom tradition for good reason, and marching from “I don’t like the ship” to “the shippers are bad people who are doing something Wrong” is never a good move;
2. fandoms are at their best when there are a lot of different views and takes and perspectives thriving; fandoms become grimy and joyless when they slip into One Correct Take Or Else places;
3. it’s kind of funny to see people rec or retweet my Haladriel fic one minute then the next declare that people who like Celeborn are just antis who Don’t Get It!
and 4. each to their own but to me, if you need to dunk on a ‘rival’ ship to build yours up then your ship looks weak. It really won’t work unless you can prove the other ship is awful? Cannot relate; my ships all sail just fine by themselves.
here to talk about celeborn
hiiiiii hello ::taps mic::
My Celeborn hot take: some ship Celedriel purely to be Haladriel antis, some ship it bcs of a bizarre male fantasy that is not supported by any text. Some ignore him. Some are ambivalent. Some find him interesting. Some are obsessed. It is a distinct spread!!
When he’s used as a cudgel, babes, I’m not a fan.
(Now, when I get to play with him and Sauron, feat. Galadriel, I’m the happiest! See lizzenfic: somewhere in the haze (LOTR | Celeborn/Sauron | Stockholm Syndrome | Rated M)
I’ve been on such a journey with the character since 2001 (yall. I love Marton Csokas. I was raised by Xena????) and I’d consider myself between interested and obsessed with Celeborn now (displaced and lost prince?? Doriath sounds like MADNESS), and in certain arguments, I am a ride or die. But I am very sus when people use him for an agenda. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Here’s another Celeborn hot take: because of how much I enjoyed Elrond/Galadriel and especially Adar/Galadriel in season two, I am certain that whenever Celeborn shows up, I’ll be like LATE, AS USUAL, PRINCELING. THERE’S ROMANCE-WORK THAT NEEDS DOING. (Sauron, quietly pointing to himself and mouthing “me?”)

Another Silmarillion fic!
'Brighten my northern sky', Glorfindel/Celeborn, 7800 words, M, complete.
Glorfindel’s first thought is one of regret, of a loss of something he had not quite realised he’d been holding. His second is of hope: for if Celeborn is to marry one of Finarfin’s children then surely he will be some part of their future here in Beleriand. His third is that he has had entirely too much wine.
Written for @yletylyf for the Sufficiently Advanced exchange because I couldn't resist the prompt, and because now I have gone fully down the rarepair slippery slope of joy on these two! And because the last one I wrote was sad and angsty and they deserved some First Age happiness.
Some LaCE handwaving, but mostly by the Sindar who are allowed to not care (and selected Noldor who have some creative definitions of what does and doesn't count as sex).

Can I get headcanons on how elves flirt in general or court someone they have a crush on? I'm assuming it's not like how humans do, since they are wise and fairer than most other races. 💘
How Elves Crush/Flirt or Being in Love ft. my original characters
Tumblr media
pairing elves x reader (separate)
a/n I put many elves as I possibly could - added my ocs too (in italics). I may have changed it up a little - sorry it just flowed. As always I love for you @theladyvanya for helping me out with characters I haven’t written before
HOPELESS ROMANTICS: Sings songs or dedicates poetry or make handcrafted ornaments or trinkets to win you over - something made their with love and admiration for you. Sometimes stumbles when speaking to you. Showers you with compliments daily - although nervous. Brings flowers or handcrafted delicate hair clip pieces. Hair is important to very elf - but they would make it romantic, if even gifting giving is not your style. They makes things special and mark every little occasion and make it romantic. Basically they show their love to through gifts.
Maglor, Finrod, Nerdanel, Celebrian, Arwen, Galadriel, Celeborn, Fingon, Idril, Ecthelion, Míriel, Aredhel, Pre-Oath Maedhros, Fingolfin, Finarfin, Glorfindel, Lúthien, Beleg, Dior Lúthriel, Cóloniélë
THE OBLIVOUSLY OBVIOUS TO GIFT GIVERS: They are really head over heels in love without you - they are usually very stubborn act stern around most. But the moment you walk through that door, it like you ground them - suddenly whatever stress, frustration or anger they felt melted away with the site of you. They think they are being completely oblivious - but the stares and the visually relaxing of their stress-filled bodies, or how they speak to with the utmost care trying to throw in a few nice words here or there, that speaks volumes to others. They do not know show to show proper affection - or it would take time to learn so instead they showers you with gifts once they have come to terms with their feelings - once the gifts come in they will not stop until you tell them it is too much xD
Caranthir, Erestor, Thranduil, Feanor, Haldir, Feanor, Curufin, Argon, Post-Angband Maedhros, Ixalië
HELPLESSY AND HOPELESSY IN LOVE IDIOTS: The cannot make one sentence out correctly to their crush. They try to be discreet but it never goes as plans - easily when other elves easily point it out. They are blushing mess trying to speak with you. Sometimes they try the way of becoming your secret admirer - trying to build up their courageous through sweet little notes it trinkets, before they try and confess to you. They will stumble and fall over their words - embarrassed and flustered - they might try and make a run for it but hold on to them please.
Lindir, Maeglin, Caranthir, Finarfin, Penlod, Amrod, Amras, Beleg, Cala, Lúthriel
THE CONFIDENT ONES: They can be real flirts - yes the smirking, winking, innuendo jokes and all. They are not ashamed or embarrassed to flirt with you - but rather confident in their feeling of wanting to make you theirs. They try and snatch you up fast too as they are afraid of others trying to whisk you away - the faster your heart belongs to them the better. They will make it very obvious they are interest in you so - except lots of PDA when trying to flirt with you, especially when you fall hard and fast.
Celegorm, Egalmoth, Elladan, Elrohir, Amrod, Amras, Glorfindel, Rog, Angrod, Valinor!Quildalótien
AFRAID TO FALL IN LOVE AGAIN: They are truly and utterly in love with you - but they are afraid of the feeling of love or falling in love again. Especially if you are a mortal - they either cannot give up their immortality and watch you pass away or gain mortality and leave behind their family - but if they are from a high rank family or already have children unfortunately they would need to choose the former and it the hardest choice they ever had to make. They are afraid of getting their heartbroken again - please cherish and love them for as long as you can. While crushing on you - they are very overprotective of you and thats how you will know - perhaps an argument breaks out where they have been bottling it all up. They need to know where you are all times to keep themselves sane too. Their overprotectiveness speaks for their lover for you. They are also afraid to put you in danger by being involved romantically with them.
Turgon, Caranthir, Elrond, Haldir, Nerdanel, Amrod, Celebrimbor, Fingolfin, Fingon, Post-Angband Maedhros, Ecthelion, Míriel, Dior, Beleg, Argon, Aegnor, Middle Earth!Quildalótien, Cóloniélë, Cala

A Glimpse of You
Pairing: Elrond x Celebrian
Summary: Elrond discovers his gift of foresight and Celebrian has a surprise for him
Warnings: mention of pregnancy, traumatised Elrond (but not thaaat much)
Celebrian had searched for him throughout all of Rivendell, yet her husband Lord Elrond was nowhere to be found. She had awoken with a sense of dread in the morning, and it did not help that she found the other side of the bed empty. It was unlike Elrond to be up early, and her concern only increased when she didn’t find him in his study, or the library, or his favorite spot in the gardens. It was already late in the afternoon when she bumped into Erestor and Glorfindel. “My lady”, they both greeted her politely. “Has either of you seen my husband? I have been looking for him all day and he is nowhere to be found”, she inquired. Erestor shook his head, as did Glorfindel. But the warrior’s poker face was terrible and soon he found himself being stared down by an angry Celebrian, who as at least a full head shorter than him. Erestor was in equal parts amused and slightly terrified as Celebrian gave the mighty balrog slayer a look that would have made Morgoth himself flee in fear. Glorfindel cleared his throat. “I may have caught a glimpse of some dark blue robes in the very corner of the basement a couple hours ago. But you did not hear that from me.” Celebrian thanked him before heading to the basement. What on earth was he doing there? Soundlessly she walked to the very end, and she heard him before she saw him. The lord of Rivendell, sitting all alone on the floor of the cold dark basement, crying softly. “My love, what happened?” Her voice startled him. “Bri? What are you doing down here?” “Looking for you my love, you had me worried.” He sighed and let his head fall into his hands. “I am sorry Bri. I am so so sorry”, he mumbled. Celebrian sat down next to him and pulled him closer to her, so that his head was resting on her chest and he could hear her heartbeat, causing him to relax instantly. “Why don’t you tell me what’s going on?”, she asked him softly. “Elros.” His twin brother, who had chosen the fate of the Edain and perished many, many years ago never stopped to plague his mind. “Celebrian”, he whispered her name, “tell me the truth. Are you pregnant?” She squeezed her eyes shut. No. This could not be happening. Not like this. Not now. “What makes you think that, my love?”. “I had a dream. Two half-elven boys. They looked so much like Elros and I and when I woke up and looked over at you it all made sense. I don’t think it was a dream, Bri.” Her brows furrowed. “You think you had a vision of the future? Our children?” He nodded. “So please Bri, just tell me now. Are you pregnant?” Neither of them wanted this to happen. They were going to wait at least one more millennium if not longer. “I am”, she finally confessed to him, tears starting to blur her vision, “And if you are right and we are really having twins, I will not let you near me ever again!”, she added. He didn’t know if it was supposed to be a joke. He didn’t know if he wanted to know.
Despite their fear of being horrible parents, Elrond and Celebrian did a decent job at raising the twins, however it might be worth mentioning that Lord Celeborn had all but moved into Rivendell at that point, taking care of his daughter during her pregnancy and helping the young couple during the first few years of raising their sons Elladan and Elrohir. Sometimes Elrond could swear he heard his brother in Elladan’s laughter, and Elrohir’s stupid pranks reminded him of the countless ways in which Elros annoyed Maedhros and Maglor growing up. He didn’t tell Celebrian any of this, but she knew. She knew that every time he looked at their sons, he saw a glimpse of his brother.

21+. She/Her. Looking for some fandom roleplays. Please be 21+ to interact! 🌈
I plot on Tumblr and write on Discord but I'm willing to do everything on Discord, if you prefer it that way. I write in third person, past tense and semi-lit/lit (2-4 paragraphs average; sometimes more and hardly ever less). I try my hardest to get daily replies up but sometimes work, life, or writer's block gets in my way, and it more realistically takes me 2-3 days.
I'm mainly interested in canon x canon pairings (MxM preference but willing to do MxF or FxF). I might be talked into canon x OC (only MxM or FxF). I like canon and canon divergent plots. If it makes sense within the universe, I'll usually be okay with doing it. I don't have any triggers and do have a preference for writing smut for these (with a healthy dose of plot) but that's not a requirement.
All characters will be 18+!
I'll be listing my main muses, and next to them I'll list the character(s) I'm most dying to ship them with at the moment. In other words, on the left is the character I want to write as; on the right is the character I'd like you to write as.
I am open to doing other ships. These will just be the ones I'm most interested in at the moment.
On the left = bold means I have a lot of muse for that character ; On the right = italics means I'm especially interested in shipping my muse against that character right now.

Great addons here and I can see it playing out that it's Halbrand/Sauron too and/or like I posted that she's seeing him but Elrond's also there before she snaps out of the mental bond. Highly doubt it's Celeborn as we've already had the leakers saying they didn't cast him yet and I think that's true. I don't think we'll even see Celeborn till season 3 at the earliest, and I'm actually leaning more towards Celeborn really did die and will come back when Glorfindel does. But it does seem to suggest this could be another Haladriel scene, especially since it's during Adar's capture of her.
Hi!!
So, I have been stalking following your posts related to RoP since quite some time. I hope you don't mind lol.
I would like to know your thoughts on this particular shot from the trailer.
Tumblr media
I know it appears like Elrond. It probably may turn out to be Elrond for all we know. But part of me is inclined to think that the trailer was edited on purpose to make us believe it's Elrond but it's actually a certain someone else whose scenes with Galadriel are meant to be a surprise 🤭
There's something so tender about the way those hands are caressing her face and that look in her eyes that makes me think it just can't be her bestie she is looking at.
That's totally fine. LOL 😀 Yeah, I did wonder for a bit if that was Sauron/Halbrand too. Especially since it looks to be Mordor and where Adar has Galadriel at in that picture of them eating. However, I don't think that is Charlie's hand and it does seem to match up with that shot of Elrond in the trailer too and we do know he launches a rescue mission to get her back from Adar. So it makes more sense that's who it is. But will point out we know now we're likely going to see Galadriel and Sauron's ability to talk and see each other mentally so it's possible Elrond wakes her up out of this state and that's what we're seeing in this frame. Who knows though, they could doctor the scene to make it look like Elrond too and the real scene plays in the episode, or maybe she's seeing both of them in this frame. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Maedhros x Fingon both bottom but Maedhros prefers to especially post-hand amputation.
Galadriel was honestly a bit heartbroken when Lúthien fell in love with Beren.
Galadriel and Celeborn switch roles in the bedroom almost every time.
Glorfindel is one of the only beings who has seen Erestor laugh in the last millennia.
