Silm Fashion - Part 13/? - Aredhel

I'm BACK! Back on my beloved Silm fashion!

After pondering for a long time, time DEFINITELY NOT spent procrastinating and letting my ADHD get the best of me, I can continue with the Nolofinweans!

This time I am going with Aredhel-Ar-Feiniel!

And for this I'd like to thank @auroramagpie for the precious help in understanding which way I wanted to style her!

And I was suggested hanboks! And I said, "why not, they are cute!" Although I admit I was a bit stuck on colors, but I have done a quick research and learned that the original ones were white and unadorned, but after the Joseon period they start to have more colors and patterns!

And I thought this, albeit a bit in reverse, would fit Aredhel!

So here's my take! As usual, comments, thoughts and prayers are more than welcome!

When Aredhel is born, she is probably the only girl so far. Finarfin will need just a bit more time, but Aredhel is so far the first girl.

This means that she gets the pretty dresses. She will grow up becoming a gremlin just like Ceegorm, but at least for appearances she wears them. And then changes because the Important Event has ended and she can now be free to run through the forest and hunt with Tyelko and Huan.

Then we know what happens, and she finds herself on the Helcaraxe in Fingolfin's personal team bonding hike. And there are so many losses, there is so much grief. Aredhel starts losing the colors of her clothes - it seems just fitting to her.

It is at this point that people start calling her the White Lady of the Noldor. And she takes the title at heart. She will not wear any colors except white. Will she have slight accents of colors? Mh. Onlyaccents here and there, but her wardrobe will be mainly white.

Bonus: ofc we know the whole thing with Eol, and Eol, being very close to Doriath, can provide her only Doriath-fashion clothing, something she definitely is not used to wear. And because she remembers the Helcaraxe, there are never enough layers. Another thing to resent Eol for lol. At least he gets her color right.

Aredhel Ar-Feiniel, the White lady of the Noldor. She was the daughter of Fingofin. She also one of the most badass princesses of the Noldor, who was fond of riding and hunting in the forest (which she should've not gone by herself 🤧🤧). She was also best friend of Celegorm and Curufin.

1st is a warm up for today. Eöl and teeny tiny Maeglin before he grew a head taller than eöl.

2nd one is a reference i made like months ago. i actually made headshots like these for every Finwean and their spouse as a help for coloring and basic face structure

I have a hilarious year of the trees take: Maedhros and Fingon are together (romantically) and Celegorm and Aredhel are completely platonic, but everyone thinks it's the other way around (namely Feanor and Fingolfin)

Like Celegorm is getting CONSTANTLY lectured by his dad and all of society for his relationship with Aredhel, whereas Maedhros is off fucking Fingon by a waterfall somewhere and everyone's like "Oh theyre such good friends :)"

Celegorm would be PISSED. He just wants to go camping with his homegirl (and for her to join the hunters of Orome) but all the parents are trying to tear them apart cause they think they're fucking. Whereas Maedhros and Fingon are giggling together at court, writing each other the sappiest love poems, and dance together at every social gathering and no one suspects a THING.

Bonus points if all of the cousins are in on it, and none of the Feanor/Fingolfin/Finarfin generation ever figures it out.

I did this months ago…I intended to include everyone but sooooo sorry argon I completely forgot u😭😭😭 and sorry to anairë and elenwë cuz this pic is mainly about the first age.

The one behind is Elrond with Turgon’s sword. This, Gandalf, was Glamdring, Foe-hammer that the king of Gondolin once wore.

I’ll post the house of Finarfin, other than that I run out of ideas😭

a while ago i was sent an ask from @waterjewelsspite (answered below) wherein i was asked about different elven fashions.... so from left to right: doriathrim fashion, teleri + nargothrond fashion, vanya fashion :DD these have been sitting in my drafts as uncoloured wips since early 2022 omg, but better late than never i suppose !!!

i didnt have a specific sketch page for the noldor that i did back then hahahaha so i came back to it recently and took it as a chance to do some assorted concept doodles with the kind of outfits i imagine them wearing in mundane situations? i dont quite know how to explain it but i hope my annotations can help show my thought process a bit!!

cant believe it took me this long to give like half the characters proper fullbody refs or designs (im looking at YOU beleg and mablung) but this has been super fun and really refreshing, so thank you again waterjewelsspite for the kind ask!!! sorry again it took. two and a half years. OMG. for me to get it done 😭😭😭 i hope this sufficed!!!

Feanaro: gets way too involved way too quickly, has multiple troll accounts and blocks anyone who sa-si’s.

Nerdanel: can’t really use technology but thinks it’s kind of fun.

Maitimo: instant anxiety attack. Is morbidly fascinated by all the russingon smut. Thinks the Fingon content is sweet. Loves kidnap fam.

Maglor: follows nails-in-my-wall. Immediately starts shitposting about his family. Uncertain why half the fandom thinks he’s a crab.

Celegorm: Deleted his account when he realised Finrod got more rep than him. His new account only is on the low down.

Caranthir: embezzling fanartists somehow. No moral compass.

Curufin: found silvergifting, had a heart attack.

Nolofinwë: Anaire keeps complimenting all the art of him and he’s getting flustered.

Fingon: obsessively saves artwork of Maedhros. Ironically endorses the posts calling him a posh asshole.

Aredhel: gets so much closure from all the online support.

Turgon: disproportionately annoyed by one (1) person who said he was insensitive.

Finarfin: always brings up the youngsters on the internet who think he’s a good king.

Finrod: thinks he’s not famous enough. Works to remedy that.

Aegnor: wonders why everyone thinks he owns and frequently uses a hair straightener; cries over every artwork of him and Andreth.

Galadriel: no one knows and it’s frankly disturbing.

Elrond: periodically censors posts using him as a moral compass. Offers hugs to everyone who reblogged that one post.
