'Reise Reise' turns 20 today 💿🎶

20 years from today, on the 27th of September 2004, Rammstein's fourth studio album 'Reise Reise' was released in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and several other countries. It was most likely named after the old saying "Reise, Reise!" as a signal for the sailors of a sailing ship to get up.

Recordings of this album took place in the El Cortijo Studio in Málaga, Spain, where the band gathered in November 2003. Producer for this record was once again Jacob Hellner, and a making of about this recording process and the band's time in Spain was released on the 'Völkerball' DVD in 2006. During interviews for this documentary, the bandmembers expressed that this recording session seemed to be more relaxed than the last ones, and thought about several alternative names for this album - Schneider liked the title "Rot", Flake rooted for "Nein", Paul thought about "Amerika" and "Amore" as titles, Olli liked "Reise Reise" and Richard, a bit clueles, refrained from making a suggestion. Till apparently wasn't asked or declined talking about his ideas. Documentary parts with english subtitles can be found here, here and here.

The album was originally planned as a double album, but this idea was ultimatly discarded. The following songs were recorded during the session for this album, but were used on 'Rosenrot' later: Rosenrot, Wo bist du, Mann gegen Mann, Zerstören, Ein Lied, Feuer und Wasser and Hilf mir. Additional demos exist for the following: Absinth, Eisenmann, Holz und Sonntag bei Omi.

The promotional photosession for this album was done by Olaf Heine and most likely was inspired by the movie "Falling down", starring Michael Douglas.

The cover for this album shows the outside of a aircraft's blackbox with the German imprint "Flugrekorder nicht öffnen" ("Do not open flight recorder") on it. Linked to this design, there is a hidden track before the first song on REISE, REISE - it can be heard on standard CD players by rewinding. It features radio messages (the black box recording) from the Boeing 747SR (Japan Airlines Flight 123), which crashed on August 12, 1985, killing 520 people. Up to now, it remains the deadliest single-aircraft crash in history. This dark aesthetic of all of this combined also suits the song "Dalai Lama" on the album. This song is based on the German ballad "Erlkönig", written in the 18th century by Goethe, and for this song the first instrumental tracks were written and finished for this album.

The limited digipack contained a picture from the above mentioned photoshoot.

The Japanese cover of the album is the same one that was later used for Rosenrot, a picture of the ice breaker USS Atka in the Antarctic from 1960.

As part of the promotion for 'Reise Reise', three additional CDs were published with interviews of the band members. CD 1 contained an interview with Till and Flake, CD2 with Olli and Paul and CD3 with Richard and Schneider. The linked videos contain the original soundtrack with the german interviews and a spoken english translation.

Regarding the success of this album: REISE, REISE reached number 1 in the album charts in seven countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Iceland, Estonia and Mexico). After the release of REISE, REISE, Billboard declared Rammstein to be the most successful German-speaking band internationally. The album achieved 1x silver, 3x gold and 6x platinum. The song 'Mein Teil' was nominated for a Grammy. All in all, Reise, Reise reached 47th place in the Top 50 album charts of 2005.

The Reise Reise tour started with one concert (September 30th 2004) at the Label showcase party "10 Jahre Motor" and marks the only acoustic concert the band has ever played. For the occasion, the band dressed up as East Berlin police women.

After that, three concerts at the Knaack club followed on the 11th, 12th and 13th of October, 2004, where the album was presented at fan club only concerts.

Spatial immune landscapes of SARS-CoV-2 gastrointestinal infection: macrophages contribute to local tissue inflammation and gastrointestinal symptoms - Published July 16, 2024

Background: In some patients, persistent gastrointestinal symptoms like abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea occur as part of long COVID-19 syndrome following acute respiratory symptoms caused by SARS-CoV-2. However, the characteristics of immune cells in the gastrointestinal tract of COVID-19 patients and their association with these symptoms remain unclear.

Methodology: Data were collected from 95 COVID-19 patients. Among this cohort, 11 patients who exhibited gastrointestinal symptoms and underwent gastroscopy were selected. Using imaging mass cytometry, the gastrointestinal tissues of these patients were thoroughly analyzed to identify immune cell subgroups and investigate their spatial distribution.

Results: Significant acute inflammatory responses were found in the gastrointestinal tissues, particularly in the duodenum, of COVID-19 patients. These alterations included an increase in the levels of CD68+ macrophages and CD3+CD4+ T-cells, which was more pronounced in tissues with nucleocapsid protein (NP). The amount of CD68+ macrophages positively correlates with the number of CD3+CD4+ T-cells (R = 0.783, p < 0.001), additionally, spatial neighborhood analysis uncovered decreased interactions between CD68+ macrophages and multiple immune cells were noted in NP-positive tissues. Furthermore, weighted gene coexpression network analysis was employed to extract gene signatures related to clinical features and immune responses from the RNA-seq data derived from gastrointestinal tissues from COVID-19 patients, and we validated that the MEgreen module shown positive correlation with clinical parameter (i.e., Total bilirubin, ALT, AST) and macrophages (R = 0.84, p = 0.001), but negatively correlated with CD4+ T cells (R = −0.62, p = 0.004). By contrast, the MEblue module was inversely associated with macrophages and positively related with CD4+ T cells. Gene function enrichment analyses revealed that the MEgreen module is closely associated with biological processes such as immune response activation, signal transduction, and chemotaxis regulation, indicating its role in the gastrointestinal inflammatory response.

Conclusion: The findings of this study highlight the role of specific immune cell groups in the gastrointestinal inflammatory response in COVID-19 patients. Gene coexpression network analysis further emphasized the importance of the gene modules in gastrointestinal immune responses, providing potential molecular targets for the treatment of COVID-19-related gastrointestinal symptoms.

I just want a green chocobo for now but even the tutorial I understand the best says I have to level up my chocobo but it's in Golden Saucer and sorry, I know many loves this place but I hate it with all my soul because I don't understand a thing with the bets (I lost soooo many gils because of that, I just wanted to SAVE) and I've been told I need to level up my chocobo to rank A before I even try to create another chocobo

HOWEVER to rise up my stats, I need specifics vegetables, the one which coast like 5000 gils and that I need a specific materia to duplicate the vegetable during a fight and avoid losing all my money

Oh my gosh, while I fully understand and also have the strongest desire to get to stream letter CONSTANTLY. I don't think it's ever gonna happen unfortunately. Its not just a SoundCloud song or a random release for ARMY like Still with You or other mixtape songs we are now finally getting... it's a hidden track on the album.

Hidden tracks aren't new to BTS and they have performed them occasionally, but they are special hidden gifts to BTS and ARMY and I think they will always stay off streaming services. Unless BH decides to really spoil us one day 😭

Album Review: Weezer "The Blue Album 30th Anniversary Edition"

In 2024 Weezer are alt-rock elder statesmen, but back in the early 90s they were just making a name for themselves in the L.A. scene. A band equally influenced by metal bands like Quiet Riot as they were The Beach Boys. They were too nerdy and full of irony to fit in with L.A.'s metal scene and it was a little before emo had begun. But it was their 1994 debut album Weezer (known as The Blue Album) on DGC that put them on the map. Their brand of power pop was reminiscent of new wave and particularly The Cars and appropriately, the album was produced by The Cars leader Ric Ocasek. I first became aware of the band in the Fall of 1994 when I heard “Undone (The Sweater Song)”, which had this infectious rhythm that just stayed in your head long after hearing. That music video was directed by Spike Jonze, who did their so memorable next video “Buddy Holly”, which is amazing in the way it combines classic Happy Days footage with newly shot footage of the band performing at Big Al’s! I got the album around that time. It didn’t exactly set the world on fire when it was first released in May 1994 (the alt-rock world was still mourning from Kurt Cobain’s death a month earlier), but in the years that followed, The Blue Album has been looked at as leading the Emo movement and it’s appeared on many Best-Of lists, notably 90s lists. I saw them in 2005 when they co-headlined a tour with Foo Fighters, known as the Foozer Tour.  Great band! Singer/guitarist/songwriter Rivers Cuomo is still a power pop genius. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the band's biggest selling (and arguably best album), UMe is releasing a deluxe box set this week.

The band had formed in 1992 with Cuomo, drummer Patrick Wilson, bassist Matt Sharp (he left the band in 1998), and after starting with guitarist Jason Cropper in 1992-93, Brian Bell replaced him and the classic Weezer lineup was in place. This box set is a deep dive into the album and the demos and live recordings of that era. I got to review the 3-CD set. CD1 is the remastered album and BBC recordings. CD2 is early Kitchen Tape demos and early recordings. CD3 is early live recordings and LMU sessions. There is also a fanzine with liner notes from the band's friend and collaborator Karl Koch, lithographs, a poster of Weezer as Kiss, song-themed sticker sheet, twelve-sided die, enamel Bokkus pin, and the box set boasts “sweater” embossed graphics complete with a pullable and retractable thread.

Here is the thing with this box set: It is definitely For Fans Only, but not nearly as much as I thought it would be. I thought you were going to have to be a Weezer fanatic to truly appreciate it, but to my surprise it was kind of impressive with some of the early rarities. There's loads of bells and whistles that fans are going to eat up, but the biggest treat for me as a fan of The Cars is hearing their early rehearsal demo cover of "Just What I Needed" that they did to woo Ocasek, which worked. He worked his magic on this album and produced two more albums with them. There are some gems in here, but a double album would've been better. If you can afford it, there's definitely some cool bells and whistles in the packaging itself. But the real treat is the album itself, still their best IMHO!

Today the governor spent another day on the campaign trail not just focusing on the Harris-Walz campaign but on some down ballot races and ballot measures. He was joined on the campaign trail by US Representative Sharice Davids and congressional candidate for CO3 Adam Frisch.

While campaigning in CO3 and door knocking for our campaign and Adam Frisch's, we also handed out flyers showing how the Harris-Walz Administration views the ballot measures in Colorado. See flyer below the 'official' schedule.

Fort Collins, CO Event Location: Colorado State University Event Type: Get Out the Vote Event Time: 19:00 - 22:00 MT *A Get Out the Vote campaign was launched by the campaign at Colorado State University, this was a unique opportunity to talk to students about more than just the presidential ticket. We talked to many students about how to vote, where to vote, and what was on their ballots. The down ballot measures were a key opportunity for voter education with this demographic, many of whom are going to be voting for the first time.

Who do you think are promising candidates for the presidential election and Arizona’s elections?

I wouldn't say anyone is particularly promising like they're fresh blood who might go places. There isn't really anyone new running for the federal stuff here and I'm not expecting any big shakeups. Even downballot stuff doesn't look too exciting yet, but that might change. Here's what I'm thinking federally:

Obviously the presidential is pretty much just between Trump and Biden at this point. Biden will win, both in Arizona and nationally.

Congress:

AZ Senate - Kari Lake will be the nominee and lose to Democrat Ruben Gallego, who I cannot stand.

AZ CD1 - Schweikert has like seventy five primary challengers but I doubt any of them take him out this year. He probably squeaks by with another win in the general, but his days in office are numbered.

AZ CD2 - For a while I was hearing rumors that Eli Crane might not run for re-election but I guess he decided to run. I don't think he'll have any trouble holding the seat.

AZ CD3 - literally not even worth talking about any Republicans that may or may not run for this one. It's D+53. The Dems will pick their candidate - probably either Raquel Teran or Yassamin Ansari, who are both dreadful - and that will be that.

AZ CD4 - Probably Kelly Cooper for the nomination again. I like him quite a bit but it doesn't matter. Greg Stanton will be re-elected.

AZ CD5 - Andy Biggs is the incumbent and Andy Biggs will hold that seat until the day he decides he longer wants it.

AZ CD6 - Ciscomani is probably safe but he's going to have to put up a good fight still. Dems are pissed about losing that seat.

AZ CD7 - again, not worth even asking which Republican is dumb enough to run for this one. D+35 means Raul Grijalva will hold that seat until he either drinks himself to death or manages to piss off the wrong cartel boss.

AZ CD8 - probably Abe Hamadeh will win the primary, which means he will win the general. I don't even know who the Dem is in that race. Doesn't matter, it's R+15. If I were going to call anyone 'promising,' it would be him. That's a seat where he could either just sit on cruise control for the rest of his life or he could use the safety of the voter spread and do something really interesting.

AZ CD9 - I'm hearing rumors about Gosar stepping down in the near future but I'm always hearing those rumors about him so I'll believe it when I see the announcement. If he runs again, the seat is his. If he doesn't, the list of people to replace him will be long and probably very annoying.

haha this dumb bitch just reversed-gerrymandered herself out of CD3, and while i'm glad she's gone, it really just reaffirms that she doesn't care about representing the people of Colorado Congressional District 3, but she just cares about power, but in her time in Congress, she has failed to pass one single bill, so it's not really about power, but she just wants a perch to attack people (cause, y'know, she's a christian).

stoked CD3 will have the chance to have a real representation in congress to advocate for issues important in western colorado, including climate change, water rights, helping migrants in our community, and protection of public lands from energy exploiters like gramma bobert's oil man ex-husband (not the beetlejuice dude haha (who has been know to host drag shows at his bar here in aspen)).
