Castov Reference Sheet
CASTOV
Name: Play on the term CAST OFF– from square dancing (related to Dosi and his name origin). How do you pronounce this? I say CAS-tov.
Species: Pacific Sleeper Shark
Castov is aiding Esis, Bazz, Ess, and Viri in their secret attempt to rescue Kenne. He’s based on the Pacific Sleeper Shark, a relative of the Greenland Shark that Dosi is based off of. What can I say. He’s a dull boring color just like all my OCs.
Castov is a go-with-the-flow kind of guy, literally. He lets ocean currents carry him up and down the coast of Hyrule, spending winter months down past Lurelin and summer months up past the Akkala Highlands. He basically never comes on shore, and never stays in one place too long.
He’s one of Dosi’s sons by a Basking Shark named Orgulla. Castov will amend his itinerary to check in on Dosi every once in a while; he's outlived her. He’s about as old as King Dorephan (not that he’s ever met him!), but looks a lot younger.
The guy is inscrutable, a bit unnerving. He has unexpected reactions to things and unusual responses– the few who have met him long enough to talk to him are divided on whether he’s insane or a secret genius. Either way, he sees things very differently than most folks. Kind of weirdly touchy, but he now knows better than to randomly touch people
Like his father, Castov has the ability to get past other animals’ electromagnetic and water pressure sense, so he can creep up on the fastest zora or monster despite his big size. He’s a low stamina, high health, low speed kind of guy; though he can manage a couple uncharacteristically sudden bursts of speed when needed.
He’s double the height of the average zora, so he can overwhelm most anything smaller than he is, in water. On land, he’s clumsy and needs help getting around. Castov’s got a couple rows of razor sharp teeth that can turn anything into ribbons, that’s unlucky enough to have gotten caught in his mouth.
He’s extremely long lived, and blind, like his dad. His own electromagnetic sense lets him “see” things underwater in great detail, but he likes to get his hands on those things to understand them as well.
And gotdamn if that's not a wall of text I don't know what is!

Someone asked me where Castov normally hangs out, when he's not saving damsels in distress. He migrates up & down the coast of Hyrule, which means he's definitely had run ins with @capybonara's zorca pod during their annual migrations!
He's been alive a long time (but not longer than Papa Dosi!) so it's entirely possible he's seen babies like Sardon, Cironus, Kaso, and Kaska be born & grow up! Lurona & the moms think he's a little odd, but he makes up for it by being a pretty good babysitter.
Bit of a capricious fellow...!
Oop haha what?! Dosi's got a good nose (and electroreceptive senses) for this kind of thing. How exciting for baby Cironus!!
But one time he was wrong...
...was predicting Kaska! Thrown off by her leucism, maybe? Just having an off day! He'll never live it down. "I got bamboozled by a baby?!"
Technically Castov can't see or stare since he's blind as a bat, but those keen senses practically give him a second set of eyes underwater.
The Zorca and their Migration Routes
Brain zoomies strike again but I wanted to add visual aid to these particular bits of story that have been running in my brain. Putting it all under a cut FOLLOW ME!
Spring: Lanayru Sea
Taking the events going on in @werewolfsister's comic, the relationship between the Domain and the Zorca have grown. Sardon, Cironus, Kaska ,and sometimes little Kaso, have become frequent visitors while their pod remains out in the bay and ocean area.
The water ways allowed Sardon and Cironus to get into all sorts of trouble when they were younger.
When they were just starting to test the limits of how far they could go from their pod, and small enough not to alarm other hyrulian races(mistaken for slightly taller zora boys) They came upon Kakariko Village by chance and during the late hours of the night raided a pumpkin patch and devoured everything. Not knowing they were the reason the present day Olkin is so protective of them. Maybe one day they can go back and make amends somehow…
The end of spring marks their next journey along with their big courting event!
Summer: Akkala Sea
As spring comes to a close, other pods start to converge in Lanayru so they can all make the trip together to Akkala. The main reason for this is for their courting event called Turning the Wheel. Which is a metaphor for life and death cycles, as well as their destination, the Rist Peninsula!
The younger zorca who are of age participate in a race to get to the end of the spiral at Rist Peninsula. But it's less about who gets there first and more about who they end up racing side by side with ("the treasure is the friends you make along the way!"). Older zorca take their time because they're socializing with old friends and previous partners. Those who participate in the game usually arrive a day earlier before the main group.
The pairings can come about unexpectedly! A zorca may hit it off with someone as they race. Or it can be planned, where partners agree to race together. There's no shame for anyone reaching the end without a partner though as they can try next season.
Non-zorca partners are allowed to participate in this event as well. Couples don't have to finish the race either, if they want to, they can break away and join the slower group, or head off together for more private entertainments. But a many enjoy reaching the end because once the entire group reaches the center of the peninsula they have their own party with food and singing to mark the start of summer!
Cironus and Sardon have played the game several times, and always reached the end solo. To avoid the matchmaking attempts by his grandmother, Sardon found a way to avoid courting by simply being faster than anyone trying to keep pace with him. Cironus enjoys the thrill of the game but no one has matched his pace either.
Once the summer of love is over its time to move on to...
Autumn: Necluda Sea
This is an especially important time for pregnant zorca! Their pregnancy can take over a year, so those who participated in last years courting event are ready for babies and need to be prepared for what's to come.
@werewolfsister's Domain of the Sunken Garden is located between the South East coast of Hyrule and Eventide Island. The Zorca have done gift exchanges with Oley and Tajin since the zorca themselves cannot reach the depths of their home.
Somewhere south of Eventide Island is where the Zorca perform their burial rites. When an individual passes, no matter the season, the pod travels to these waters to lay them down to rest in a whale fall event.
When the temperature shifts, and due dates are getting nearer its time to head on...
Winter: Faron Sea
Faron Sea is where the Zorca go to have their babies! Every baby born is a precious addition to their pod since the Zorca are so few in number. New and experienced mothers work over time with hunting and everyone else pitches in to help care for the little ones. The nursery is closely guarded, and anyone who doesn't have business there sticks around in the open waters.
Because the villagers of Lurelin fish in the same waters, the Zorca offer their assistance in any way they can, by helping them catch fish or chasing off monsters!
When spring rolls around again, they say goodbye to their friendly neighbors, and the newborns are strong enough to make the trip back to Lanayru to begin the seasons all over again.
#Zora#zora oc#zorca#lurona#baby#kaska#castov#crunchie munchie baby#this was meant as a joke and now look where we are haha#Werner Herzog voice: I want to see the baby#Every time he sees Kaska he's like oh look there's my child. Lurona kicks him in the ribs.

Come to the Wadden Sea at some point
It is so eerie during epp/low tide
It's truly where sea and land become one
During low tide you can walk to the nearest isles if you know the way. And then the flow/high tide raises the water enough to needing boats.
Always bring (or be) a guide, a compas or follow marked routes or you might get lost. There are no landmarks, it is completely flat and uniform and its often castover or foggy so you cannot see the sun. And if the tide turns, it can rise up to 1,5 - 3 meters and the currents are noticeable so you'll be pretty fucked if no one comes to your rescue.
We all love the beach, right? I sure do. Where the sea meets the land is a magical place. It is the overlap of two very different worlds; our sunny, sandy, beautiful home and the alien waves that beckon you into the inhospitable wilderness of the ocean. When crossing that foam-fringed boundary, one must remember that you are no longer in your world. You are entering the sea, and the sea is vast and dark and dangerous. It is more untamed than the wildest jungle and full of creatures that can kill you in a hundred different gruesome ways. Every wave whispers to you that you do not belong here, you may only visit for a brief time if you want to leave with your life. Hold tight to the warm sunlit sand that fringes the barrier of this place, or you may never see it again. Welcome to the beach. Enter at your own risk.
1. Tamarama beach, Australia
This is know as both the smallest and the most dangerous beach in NSW. There is a permanent rip current that runs along the rocky northern shore, but at any given time there could be more hidden in the surf. Large waves break just a little ways offshore, posing a hazard to swimmers but an attraction for surfers. Although there are rarely deaths here, lifeguards have to rescue multiple people a day. Interestingly, this beach is only around sometimes! Occasionally all the sand will wash away and all that’s left is a rocky outcrop. There’s no way to be certain when the beach will come back or how big it will be or what it might look like. I guess it never gets boring to visit.
2. Isle of Ré, France
This island is not the only place you can go to see square waves, but it is one of the places most famous for this strange phenomenon. This is called a cross sea, and occurs when two opposing wave patterns intersect. Although this is certainly a tourist attraction, it is best to observe from a distance, as cross seas can be very dangerous to both ships and swimmers. Cross seas can cause powerful rip currents and walls of water up to 10 feet high, rolling ships and dragging people underwater. (As a side note, my mother thought I had made up cross seas as a freaky supernatural event in my book. Unfortunately, I did not.)
3. Dumas Beach, India
This is supposedly one of the most haunted places in India. Although this beach is full of tourists during the daytime, no one remains after dark, for fear that they will become the next ghost to wander the sand. Apparently, this beach was once used as a burial ground, and said to be black due to the human ashes mixed in. At night, people report hearing voices and seeing apparitions, and even dogs behave strangely once the sun goes down. There have also been multiple unexplained disappearances and at least one recorded death. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, there definitely seems to be something eerie happening on this beach.
4. Morecambe Bay, UK
This is an interesting one, as it’s not technically the water that’s dangerous. The ground is. This estuary features extreme tides, with the water level dropping and rising up to 32 feet twice a day. This exposes an expanse of mud flats and channels which are composed of loose, wet material that can absolutely suck you in and trap you. If this happens when the tide is coming in, it can quickly turn deadly. This has happened many times going back through history, including one incident in 2004 where 23 people died. Yes, all at the same time. No, I don’t want to delve into that incident too deeply in this list as it’s extremely horrifying and tragic. Feel free to research it yourself.
5. Monastery Beach, Oregon
This has earned its nickname “mortuary beach” by being extremely dangerous. Over 30 people have died here, including people who weren’t even in the water. In 2015, a woman walking along the beach was dragged in by a wave and drowned. The beach has multiple factors that make it so deadly, including a steep drop off, unpredictable waves, and strong undertows. This beach isn’t even safe to walk on. I um. Don’t like that.
6. Hanakapiai Beach, Hawaii
Despite its beauty, this Hawaiian beach is not recommended for swimming except for expert surfers. During the summer, this beach is a popular place for hiking, sunbathing and sightseeing, but during the winter the sand is washed away and the waves crash against the cliffs directly. Even in the relatively safe summer months, this beach has no barrier reef to break up the strong waves and powerful currents, which leads to a dangerous situation where swimmers can quickly be swept out into the open ocean and drown. At least 30 people have died here, and 15 of the bodies have never been recovered.
7. Lake Michigan. Just, all of it.
Despite all the Great Lakes being somewhat terrifying, Michigan takes the title of the most dangerous lake in the country. Yearly, Lake Michigan has more drownings than all four other Great Lakes combined. The reason that Michigan is especially hazardous is that, well, it’s kind of weirdly shaped. Thanks to its 300+ miles of uninterrupted parallel shorelines running north-south, it forms huge waves and strong riptides and long shore currents. It is also a question of numbers; Lake Michigan has more public beaches and large population centers than the other Great Lakes. All in all, a recipe for disaster.
8. Playa Zipolite, Mexico
This is also called the “beach of the dead”, so it’s inclusion on this list seems pretty self-explanatory. These waters have strong undercurrents that rotate in a circular pattern, either pushing you into shore or pulling you out to sea. There is a pervasive rumor that 50 people drown at this beach a year, although this is… somewhat exaggerated. In fact, very few people drown at this beach these days, as it has actually gotten less dangerous over the years. There used to be a steep drop-off that would catch people by surprise, but due to several severe storms in the early 2000s, the beach has eroded back and now gently slopes down instead. Although very few people die at this beach nowadays, multiple rescues are performed every day due to the dangerous currents.
9. Cyclops, Australia
This is a particular type of wave that forms off the coast of Esperance, Australia, as the sea floor rapidly goes from deep, open water to a very very shallow reef. It is… unsettling. The longer I look at it, the weirder it gets. It’s like an ai generated image. I couldn’t even pick one picture of it so I made you a collage.
It is considered one of the most dangerous surf spots in the world, and can only be accessed by boat. To quote pacific surf dot com, “the reason the wave is dangerous is because it does not act like any other wave in the world. It engulfs itself due to the massive change in the ocean floor when the wave rolls up.”
10. Nazare, Portugal
This area of Portugal is home to some of the biggest waves in the world. Just offshore is an underwater canyon, plunging down to 16,000 ft deep. This allows large, fast deep-water waves to move into shore unimpeded, and when they hit the shallows close to shore all the water gets suddenly pushed up, resulting in waves up to 80 ft tall. I think the picture speaks for itself in this case. Probably best to not get in the water if you see that shit.
That was fun, wasn’t it? Before I go, let me end this on a different note than the rest of my lists; some actual advice for if you should you ever decide to visit these beaches (or any beach, really). Rip currents are incredibly strong (believe me, I know) but very narrow currents that run perpendicular to shore. To get out of a rip current, swim parallel to shore. Trying to fight the current will just tire you out and eventually leave you exhausted and way the fuck out in the ocean, which is typically when you die. Swimming parallel to shore will get you out of the current, and once you’re free you can swim back in at your leisure. And, just in general, never fight the sea. The sea will win.

BREMERTON, Wash. — Der Blokken Brewery announced it is changing its name to Chaos Bay Brewing Co. Chaos Bay will continue producing the same top-quality products they have come to be known for and will operate on its commitment to create quality experiences for their customers and being an integral part of the community. The brewery will reopen for dine-in services under the new name on Thursday, June 11.
“We’re grateful for the support and love we have received from our guests and community over the years. As we’ve matured, our original name presented a few challenges,” said Reina Powers, Co-founder. “It no longer reflected the owners, our passions, and the experience we are striving to create. While this has been in the works for sometime, the chaos of current times pushed us to make the leap now.”
Under the Chaos Bay Brewing Co. name, customers can still get their favorite brews including Praetorian Pale Ale, The Black Porter, Castover Belgian Style Ale, Sacred Hop Double IPA, Hop Magnum IPA, and Russian Overcoat Imperial Stout. The Sacred Hop and Praetorian Pale Ale are currently available in 22 ounce bottles; Castover Belgian Style Ale and The Black Porter will be available in 22 ounce bottles by mid July. All beers will be available in cans by the middle of 2021.
Since opening in 2010, the brewery has grown as a community gathering place and weathered several major changes while continuing to satisfy its customers…the real heroes of Chaos. The new name reflects the constant movement around perfecting a craft can feel like a chaotic storm, while a bay is a calm harbor, a center that holds steady, a refuge. Chaos Bay welcomes the creative possibilities found in change, yet holds to their core of making quality products and being an integral location in the neighborhood. They look forward to continuing to host groups such as Pints & Needles, Ladies Paint Night, and the local pinball league.

Sunraylightbeams:
My (8:30) morning sky, (up above) is castover with wimpy looking skyclouds, but I spect sunraylightbeams will soon burn through those skyclouds, which will dissolve into blue molecule thingys, giving the sky its blue-looking color in the daytime. Without skyclouds getting melted by sunraylightbeams, the daylight sky would be as black as the nighttime sky even. The actual sunsphere, visible against a black sky, would be too much bright, for the human eyes to function. Be thankful for melted skyclouds,....as they make the daylight more livable, so we can do stuff without being blinded even. *sigh*

💘Character with romantic partner(s)/pining or being lovey dovey romantic Sona with Sardon selfishly but also I would LOVE to learn more about her past relationships before Sardon!
🔞Character wearing something spicy Your choice of character! After you had mentioned the idea of more clothing being sensual IM CURIOUS
📺 Character in a different piece of media - for Esis
🧬Fuse two characters together Let's see what we get with Les and Castov!
I'm gonna need more time to do the (💘) ask so that'll be in a later separate post!
🔞 Something spicy!
I had mentioned to @capybonara that my idea for the zora was that, since they're already barely clad, wouldn't it be interesting if their version of lingerie or more sexually charged clothing was... just more clothing...?
A regular ol' person covers up their naughty bits, but the Zora don't have any shame about that lol-- and if they are wearing fabrics, they're in a special position. Either they've reached the age of retirement, or they're a member of the royal court. So wearing clothes is reserved for someone of a higher standing.
I was thinking about Japanese geisha, who wear a LOT of clothing but have this fun thing where the back of their neck is exposed. Like every single part of their body is covered by something (fabric or paint) except that spot. Why? Apparently it's a sexy place of the body in Japanese culture! It's a cool idea-- you "hide" everything else, and the only "exposed" part becomes very sensual.
So the more layers a Zora wears, I think like the geisha, the more important they look and the more sensual they become. This is a character we haven't seen in the comic yet, but she's about to appear!
....I think I've had a boyfriend say & do this exact thing to me lmaoooo I guess there really is something to it
📺 Other Media
🎶 Digimonnnn Digital Monsters Digimon are the CHAMPIONSSSSSSS 🎶 it's sharkmanomon ! Digivolve to.... sharkgunmanomon!!!!!!!
🧬 Fusion!
This was hard oh my lord haha Les is my fastest character & Castov is my slowest character!
their weird chill lovechild or something

Alrighty, lets see... for the questions list; 6 for Sona, 9 for Castov, 13 for Esis, 17 for Elfin, and 22 for Les!
Sona: If your OC is in a fantasy setting, what profession would they be in the modern day?
Weatherman!
Castov: How does your OC handle their physical health? Do they take care of themselves?
One contributor to Castov's long life has been hygiene, for sure! He definitely takes care of himself in that sense. However.... He's been alive so long, he's always willing to try something new... even if it hurts... He, like his dad Dosi, can avoid other Zoras' electroreception senses, so unless he's actively looking for trouble, it rarely ever finds him!
Esis: Does your OC have a rival? How did it start?
He's got some bad, bad blood with the Yiga Clan. ....although Thresh is starting to look like a competitor for the title of "rival"
Elfin: If your OC has kids, are they a good parent? Do they ever feel guilty if they have to leave them?
Elfin is a good mom! But she travels a lot and leaves most of the baby-duties to her husbands. And they have a lot of kids. Maybe the boys should go on vacation one of these days...! And no, she doesn't feel guilty. If she had to have the babies, then the other half (halves??) have to put in the work too haha!
Les: Fight or Flight? Are they a lover or a fighter?
Les is a big guy! As tall as Cironus, actually! But when it comes to conflict, Speedy Les is a lover, not a fighter. And he can outspeed almost anything.
@capybonara this was actually a blast thank you c:
