Finally got around to adding closed captions to our YouTube shorts.
Didn't realize the guy who sent the videos to us spoke in them.
Technically, there should be descriptive transcriptions for deafblind communities and audio descriptions for hearing blind folks. Will have to work on adding video descriptions.
Not sure what's the best way to handle the latter demographic for YouTube since multi-track audio isn't rolled out for everyone yet.
One of my favorite things about tumblr is when people put the transcript or audio description in their reblog, or takes the time to caption their videos
Then I don’t have to worry about if it’ll be funny. But most importantly I don’t have to listen to anything
people who add non-autogenerated subtitles to videos are the most attractive people on this planet and allowed to steal one (1) thing from my home. including a kiss
people who record other people in public are all destined for the eternal flame anyway but ESPECIALLY the people who record unhoused people or people struggling with addiction like what the actual fuck is wrong with you. maybe try being fucking kind and expressing some empathy towards people in your community who are struggling
Nothing funnier to me than a fansite that horrifically white washes pics of the guys until they genuinely look like walking corpses but then will have DO NOT EDIT in all their captions like baby.... if there's anyone here who should have the editing software taken away, it's you...
In honor of the Full Harvest Moon (awooo!) AND Late Quiet Friday at the Crossroads tomorrow, we have a video going up at midnight Pacific on YouTube for our first Forgetmenauts Friday in a while. Hope you enjoy!
seeing a tiktok about how the person who made the video blocks every marauders cosplayer because they get second hand embarrassment from the cosplays : oh! myabe its just because the marauders tiktok community is really shit?
i think auto-generated audio captions are actively unhelpful for audio processing issues actually. imo it's more confusing to have a clearly wrong word in my head than to have a mess of sounds that i could try to work out by context. it's like misheard lyrics. your brain puts the obviously wrong word in and won't hear the correct thing anymore
I'm glad adding captions to internet videos is becoming more commonplace but I hate when they're in that annoying Mr. Beast style where it's one word at a time at a rapid pace. Like yeah maybe some people can read that fast but not everyone can.
Or when the captions are auto-generated and the person doesn't go back and fix them to make sure that they match what is being said.
I'm not even Deaf or HOH but I like to use captions when I can and so I can only imagine how frustrating it can be for someone who actually needs them only to find they're inacurrate or straight up incorrect.
