Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Edward Teague —Aesthetic

Captain Edward Teague's Character & Personality
Teague is a buccaneer pirate who's the illegitimate father of Jack and owner of the jail dog. He's also the Pirate Lord of Madagascar and keeper of the Brethren Court's Code. As the Keeper of the Pirate's Code, Teague respects the Code enough to kill anyone who disrespects it, even if it's a brief mention of hanging the Code. He has shot Code-breakers in the head with no more emotion than when crushing a roach. To Teague, the Code isn't only the law, it's everything. He has candor, rigorous personal integrity and uncompromising commitment to the Code. This earned Teague the fear and respect of the other Pirate Lords of the Brethren Court. With an aristocratic bearing, he's a fearsome figure, but with unmistakable touches of sweetness and vulnerability towards his son. Teague has a fearsome temper, but he has some sense of morality. At some point in his life, he took up the guitar and became quite good at playing it. Teague mainly plays it in the Pirate Hall. Although he's captain of a ship, he's a "stay at home" and withdrawn kind of pirate; having done most of his adventuring in his younger days. Teague is quite reserved and dignified in times of victory. Many parts of his life are quite mysterious. When someone would ask him something about his past, Teague's usual reply was: "Sea turtles, mate!"

Pirates of the Caribbean Captains
The other Pirate Lords during the Brethren Court scenes in At World's End are: Ammand, Chevalle, Sri Sumbhajee Angria, Gentleman Jocard, Mistress Ching, and Eduardo Villanueva. The Keeper of the Code, Edward Teague (Jack's dad), is also there.
Other captains more generally could include Anamaria and Joshamee Gibbs, as well as other pirates/merchant/navy captains in the movies or books or rides.

rewatching pirates of the caribbean and looking at the Jack Sparrow family tree made me realize a very funny thing.

Edward Teague is Jacks father.

He is losely based on Edward Teach.
(I know there's a Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean, who is called Edward Teach, but let's ignore that for a second. Blackbeard is a name losely used for any captain who has the vibe honestly.)
If Edward Teague aka Jack Sparrows Dad was Blackbeard....
he-
would be Jacks Dad.
And Stede would be his Mom.

Jack Sparrow has gay parents.

Let me live that fantasy please

Some random headcanons about Redd because she’s the best and I’m just now finding out she has a fanbase:
She actually has no real given name. She’s gone by a lot of names over the years; Ruby, Crimson, Scarlett, Rose, Carmine. Anything that means “red”. But Redd is the name she likes the most, so it’s what she introduces herself as
She may or may not be a cousin of Jack Sparrow. None of the family really knows, but her mother took on her father (Edward Teague’s brother) as a frequent client over the years so they’re pretty sure the kid is his.
Edward Teague felt responsible for Redd after she was born and took her under his wing. He was the closest thing to a father she ever had.
When she was about 18-19 she was auctioned off (like in the ride) but she eventually shot her “husband” and went off on her own.
Jack took the blame for the crime cause he just so happened to be there to try to break her out. Only Edward knows and plans to take the secret to the grave.
Redd can be just as chaotic if not moreso than Jack, to the point where sometimes even he struggles in keeping up with her
To be petty he refuses to ever call her Captain despite her very much being her. Instead Jack will always call her “Rusty Redd”
She LOVES dad jokes. She’s the only soul alive who’s genuinely laughed at Uncle Jack’s terrible jokes
Redd’s got a bit of a drinking problem but she’s able to manage it pretty well.
She HATES chicken. Ever since she was little they’ve had a weird vendetta against her so she refuses to eat them
Redd is just about the only person who never gets mad when Jack betrays her. If anything she expects it. And sometimes she’ll get a good betrayal on him too
She loves to sing and dance her heart out, but she’s not very good at either

new chapter!!! <3 preview under the cut. . .
As the sun inches toward the sea, a group of Teague’s men enter the room in preparation for the ceremony. Looming at the edges of the room, Jack watches them wrap the corpse in linens.
Jack has yet to decide whether or not he will divulge the king’s unsavory secret to her subjects. If he chooses the path of exposure, the burial might just be the most advantageous place to do so. Will Captain Swann’s calm demeanor from the night prior remain steadfast when the eyes of Teague’s brethren are fixed upon her?
Reluctantly, Jack knows that he will struggle to keep his own demeanor when the time comes. He trails behind the funeral procession, hands stuffed into his pockets, eyes askance and brow furrowed. The men who carry the body to the beach cast nervous glances at him. When they lock eyes, he gives them the occasional nod. It isn’t the body he’s worried about now, it's how it got here.
They reach the shore, where the body is placed into a longboat that is half-lodged in the sand, ready to be pushed out to sea to meet the Troubadour , waiting just offshore to watch the flames consume Edward Teague.
A sizable crowd has gathered, with lanterns and flowers and fruits. Elizabeth’s face is illuminated by a candle. She holds the flame in both hands as night begins to shroud the ceremony. And she gives Jack a smile as he falls in line beside her, though Jack has done nothing to indicate what he shall be doing about her and her secret assassination.
Perhaps she has made up her own truths, or perhaps she is trying to ensure that she receives his mercy, for she places a hand on his shoulder in a show of comfort that he does not care for.
The quartermaster is the first to say a few words about Captain Teague and his legacy, during which several old sea dogs stagger forward to chime in, garnering sad laughter and cheers from the crowd. Jack ignores most of it, save for the stories that he remembers.
The few remaining crewmen from those days are looking at him, gauging his reaction. Elizabeth touches him again, and he lets her gently runs a hand over his back. If he appears to be in mourning, perhaps the others will stow away their judgements.
After the quartermaster has said his piece, he cedes the floor to Elizabeth, to speak on behalf of the Brethren. She gives Jack’s shoulder a squeeze, then steps forward to address the crowd. Too well versed is she in diplomacy, he thinks as she begins her speech, too eloquent for a crowd of rotten scoundrels such as this. Perhaps that is why they seem to fawn over her, lowering their hats in respect and suppressing their drunken outbursts.
Jack can ruin this for her, if he wants to.
The inhabitants of Shipwreck may not pay him the respect they pay their darling English royalty, but he can change that in an instant. All it would take is a handful of words. He would merely have to summon his voice, step out of the line of mourners, point a finger, and he could take that from her.

Muse(s) Masterpost

JACK SPARROW
Jack Sparrow was a legendary pirate of the Seven Seas and the irreverent trickster of the Caribbean. A captain of equally dubious morality and sobriety, a master of self-promotion and self-interest, he fought a constant and losing battle with his own best tendencies while living the pirate's life. Sparrow may be the best or worst pirate, depending on whose opinion to take into account, and was the quickest to seize the moment and make it his own; whether by cause and careful planning or mere accident was a matter of debate, but the results were the same and always different. He had been cursed, left for and come back from the dead, and seen his fair share of the supernatural through magic and mythical beings, as well as becoming the center of various myths and legends himself. Captain Jack Sparrow's first love was the sea, his second his beloved ship the Black Pearl, and desired freedom and adventure more than any material treasure.
Born on a pirate ship in a typhoon, Jack Sparrow was the son of Captain Edward Teague, Pirate Lord of Madagascar and Keeper of the Pirate Code. Before he became known as the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow, he was simply known as Jack Sparrow, an adventure-seeking teenage stowaway who sailed on a series of quests and missions for about one year, beginning with a quest for the Sword of Cortés with a ragtag crew on the Barnacle, struggling to find his place on the Seven Seas as he followed his enigmatic father's buccaneering footsteps. At some point in time following his earliest adventures, Jack earned the name "Jack the Sparrow" after a sea battle with the Silent Mary, which he defeated and sunk along with its captain, the merciless and ruthless pirate hunter Armando Salazar of the Spanish Navy, at the Devil's Triangle. In the wake of having facilitated the escape of Christophe-Julien de Rapièr, a friend who had been accused of rogue piracy, Jack was forced to abandon the pirate life and pursued a legitimate career as a merchant seaman for the East India Trading Company. Five years of service later, the wily sailor was given command of the Wicked Wench, a merchant ship owned by Cutler Beckett, the EITC Director for West Africa. Within the year as Beckett's employee, Sparrow searched for the magical island of Kerma and the treasure in the Shining City of Zerzura, until he decided to betray Beckett and keep the island and its inhabitants safe from Beckett and his slave traders. When Beckett ordered him to transport a cargo of humans as slaves to the Bahamas, promising to sell him the Wench for just one shilling, Sparrow initially agreed but chose to liberate them instead and stole the Wench from Beckett. Furious at being disobeyed, Beckett sent ships and men to track Sparrow and the Wench down, in which he was caught, imprisoned, and branded as a pirate, irrevocably returning Sparrow to a life of piracy, while the Wench was set aflame and sunk in order to punish Jack for his rebellion in freeing the slaves. After striking a bargain with the fearsome Davy Jones, the ghastly cursed captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman, in which his beloved vessel was raised from the depths in exchange for his immortal soul, Jack had rechristened the resurrected and transformed Wicked Wench as the Black Pearl, inspired by the Biblical parable of the "pearl of great price." Shortly afterwards, Jack Sparrow began the pirate's life anew and became one of the nine Pirate Lords of the Brethren Court, with Sparrow himself holding one of the Nine Pieces of Eight as the new Lord of the Caribbean Sea.
Verses and AUs
Main verse: is set between the events of Curse of the Black Pearl and At World's End (it is the mun's personal choice not to include the other movies in this verse).
Price of Freedom verse: in which Jack is still employed by the EITC, working for Cutler Beckett.
Siren!Jack AU: Jack is a half-siren in this AU, being the son of Captain Teague and Nethys, the siren queen. He has the ability to seduce people using only his voice, make them to do what he wants (with varying results), though he only uses this as a last resort should his plans go terribly wrong. He can also breathe underwater, and if he fully gives in to his siren nature, he can become stronger than your average human. He just rarely does it, however, in fear of not being able to snap out of it one day.

Writing Time Loops

I love time loop stories. Groundhog Day is one of my all-time favorite movies. But until I started writing The Pinky Paradox, I'd never tried writing a time loop story of my own.
As a writer, I think that time loops are a fascinating storytelling device, but they come with their own unique challenges. I quickly realized that balancing character growth, repetition, and coherence was essential to make the story work. Here's what I learned along the way:
Character Growth
At the heart of every good time loop story is the affected character's growth. The time loop creates a unique opportunity for deep introspection or personal development because the character is stuck repeating the same events.
In Groundhog Day, Phil Connors (played by Bill Murray) grows emotionally. Movies like Edge of Tomorrow and Boss Level show their protagonists improving physically, learning (and sometimes dying) from their past mistakes with each loop.
In The Pinky Paradox, Pinky is the one caught in the loop. While the world resets around him, Pinky doesn't stay the same. His growth may be subtle or profound, but I wanted it to feel authentic. How does Pinky change in response to reliving the same events? What can he learn—or unlearn—about himself, Brain, or the world around him?
Repetition
Repetition is baked into the concept of a time loop, but too much repetition can become tedious for the reader. In movies, you can show the same scene repeatedly with slight changes, and it works visually. But copying and pasting the same paragraphs in writing doesn't have the same effect.
The trick is to keep things feeling familiar without being boring.
In The Pinky Paradox, I tried to highlight the sameness of certain events (like Pinky waking up at the start of each loop or Brain activating the machine) while introducing small variations that kept each loop engaging. These variations could be external, like new challenges or unexpected interactions, or internal, like Pinky's evolving reactions. As the loops progressed and Pinky experienced growth, these changes became more pronounced, adding depth to the repetition.
Coherence
Even though the world resets, the time loops themselves need to be coherent. What changes from one loop to the next? What stays the same? It's important to establish clear rules for how the loop operates and stick to them.
A time loop always starts the same way. But as the character stuck in the loop grows more aware of the situation, their actions shift, creating ripple effects. In The Pinky Paradox, keeping track of what Pinky tried to change—and making sure those changes made sense within the story's logic—was a challenge, but it was also part of the fun.
Writing a time loop is like solving a puzzle while building it at the same time. The repetition should feel meaningful, the character growth natural, and the story itself engaging despite the constraints of the loop.
What are your favorite examples of time loops in fiction? And what do you think makes them so compelling?
Pinky art by Captain Edward Teague.

POTC: OST Musical fan concept synopsis (cruise line version)
TW: mention of self harm and pregnancy, discussion of abuse
The ladies enter the stage and begin to gossip. One lass said she had one rumor to share.
At King George II’s courtroom. King’s guards bring up Jack because he escapes and Gibbs got the Sao’s map. The reason why Jack was brought here to the king is that the king need him to search for the Fountain of Youth before the Spanish claimed it again. Although Jack has already searched before, except he never drank the water from the fountain. Barbossa appears with a peg leg and reunites with Jack and told him that he joins as a privateer and lost the pearl 3 years ago which made Jack pissed at him. Jack escapes again and led Barbossa to ask Gibbs for a map to join his conspiracy for his “plan”
Gossipers said that Barbossa got a peg leg and lost the pearl which pissed Jack off. One said that Jack is questioning his immortality because he never once drank from the fountain after he found it in St. Augustine. Also, Barbossa was angered at Jack for wronging him and Jack accuses him of bribery for his “plan”. One says that Jack’s father, Captain Edward Teague told his son about the two chalices where treasures are rare and kept in the cave that Ponce stored, and also Teague told his son about Captain Stephen Cole.
Gossipers described Cole as tall and majestic yet more terrifying than Blackbeard. And people treat him as their king.
Jack reunited with Angelica, his lover/fwb from 10 years ago. Angelica was upset with Jack because he promised to return to her home city, Havana when they start their relationship and decided to become a pirate to search for Jack for years and became a second mate to Stephan Cole. She told him about taking Cole to the Fountain of Youth and Jack agrees since the King orders him to go to the fountain. Also, she told him about the Carnival in Tortuga and Jack agrees.
Gossipers said that when they first met, Jack thought the convent was a brothel. Angelica was charmed by him. However, he sees Angelica as someone else during the few months of their relationship. And some say he uses her to cope for cannot handle the previous women he met in his life.
At the courtyard, Gibbs was confronted by Privateer Barbossa along with Royal Navy officers, Joseph and Daniel for recruiting him for his “plan” and the map that Gibbs. Gibbs agrees to join the conspiracy and burns the map. Barbossa was shocked and asks Gibbs why he burns the map because Gibbs memorized the map during his sailor years. Nevertheless, Barbossa happily welcomes Gibbs to his company.
Meanwhile, Angelica introduces Jack to Captain Stephen Cole, the most popular pirate of them all. And discusses the fountain and wanting to drink from the fountain to make him look young again. Jack says that the water from the fountain will solve his immortality issues and it will make him immortal. Cole mentions that he fought battles with ships and shrank them as his ship in the bottle collection, and it includes Jack’s beloved Black Pearl, and owned Queen Anne’s Revenge after Blackbeard’s death. Cole told Jack after they drank the water from the fountain, he’ll give him back his Black Pearl. Jack agrees.
Gossipers said that both Jack and Cole are insecure in their own ways and think the Fountain of Youth will solve them. Jack has high hopes that he’ll get his Pearl back from Cole.
They went to Tortuga where the Carnival celebration was held. As they went there, Cole was filled with pride when the crowd cheered for him, but the soothsayer come up with him and told him to better watch out on Friday the 13th of March. However, Cole didn’t care what the soothsayer predicted. Everyone celebrated until the storm came. Jack and Angelica went damped and they have to find the shelter until they found it.
Gossipers said they “do that thing” tonight. They say that Angelica wants more intimacy than affection. But she didn't want to admit her feelings for him.
The next day, at HMS Providence, Barbossa brought Gibbs to the ship. Gibbs claims there are three Spanish ships that sail towards them. Barbossa orders his men but the Spanish ships sailed away without igniting the cannons. However, Barbossa deduces that for the Spanish, the fountain is their prize and not sink, and knew Providence will fall behind to pursue the fountain. Barbossa orders his crew to begin sailing.
A few weeks later, back at Revenge, the crew sword fighting and cannons fired to get supplies from merchant ships. After they collect supplies, they cheered. As they reach St. Augustine, Angelica and Jack spend time with each other. Jack told her about his love for the sea. And so Angelica, she want freedom. After they arrived, Angelica collects “mermaid tears” (sea glass) from the shore and put them in her little bagful, and said it was for Cole’s ritual. As the crew went to the ow, they compliment how beautiful the town is and the townspeople of Augustine praise Cole, too. Gibbs appears again, and Jack asks Gibbs why he was there. Gibbs said that He’ll spy on Cole. Meanwhile, Barbossa traded an emerald to venom from the venomous snake for his sword from the market. As they headed to the cave, Angelica told Cole that she had a dream that Cole died on Friday the 13th of March. As they arrived at the cave, Cole orders Jack to get two chalices and then left both Jack and Angelica at the hotel.
Gossipers said that Cole want Jack to get lost and die in the cave to find two chalices.
Before Jack enters the cave, Angelica told him that she heard that the cave is like a maze, she brought a ball of yarn and gives it to Jack so he could find the way out after he got two chalices and then he enters the cave with the string. Then Barbossa and his crew arrive and Barbossa’s only one enters the cave and follows the string where Jack walks. Then Angelica felt sick, and she quickly goes back to the town where the doctor’s office is located. While finally there, Angelica began catches feelings for Jack.
At the cave, Jack pulled the string of yarn as Angelica said while searching for the chalices. When he carefully goes through, he found the treasure that Ponce stored and finally saw the chalices. But he reunited Barbossa because he was ordered by the King to get the chalices for the fountain. Barbossa also explains about the Spanish stole the chalices from a long time ago. The two stole the chalices, left the cave, and went to the Spanish camp.
Meanwhile, Angelica left the doctor’s office, she said she was stated by the doctor that she was pregnant with Jack’s child, not being sick. She returns to the hotel
Gossipers said that she kept her pregnancy a secret from Cole due to her affair with Jack.
Back at the camp, Jack was told by Barbossa that his sword has snake venom. After they stole the other chalice, both got tied up around the palm trees. Barbossa said that his desire for revenge against Cole was because Cole made fun of him for being emotionally grieving over his late lover’s passing. He and Cole have a feud and got offended by Cole called him "snake". About his peg leg, he battleship with Cole and he cut off his leg in self-harm and grieving over Cole stealing the Pearl and his monkey, Jack. After this, Cole made a false rumors about Barbossa and everyone (except the Turners) turning against him. While on exile, he became a privateer. And he also didn’t like Cole’s popularity that he was jealous of. Jack agrees to help Barbossa to assassinate Cole. they escape the camp with chalices.
Gossipers said that when Angelica went back to the hotel, Jack went to the hotel, and he climbed to the balcony of her home. Then, both have a conversation.
Jack calls Angelica “bossy” and selfish when Cole was around. Angelica reveals that she was stuck on being “used” and “perfect”, and she never asks him to take Cole to the fountain, she is doing it for Cole. This shocks Jack and he told his plan for Angelica until Cole enters the room and Jack escapes.
Gossipers said Cole finds out that Angelica having an affair with Jack and betrays him for helping Jack escape from the cave. Then, Cole cuts Angelica’s hair, dreadfully.
The next day, the crew went to the Fountain of Youth, Jack freed Gibbs and starts continuing going to the fountain. As they finally arrive, Cole blinded Jack with his mirror reflected by the sun. And then Barbossa and his crew arrived and they begin battle. The battle was interrupted by the Spanish and they claim the fountain was a hoax, they left after they demolished the fountain. Before running out of time, Angelica collects water into chalices and puts mermaid tears in each chalice, and waits for the tears to dissolve. Cole drank it finally and he felt look young again. But then, Barbossa and his crew assassinate Cole with many gunshots and stab wounds. Barbossa finally stabs Cole and injected him with venom. While Cole was weak and has few minutes to live, he asks Angelica, “And you?”, Jack threw his pistol at Angelica and she shoots him dead, finally. Cole died on Friday the 13th of March. Angelica ask Jack if he would like to have a drink but Jack declines. Jack’s eyes became better after being blinded by the mirror light.
The crew returns to the town with Cole’s dead body. Cole’s Cabin Boy said that he died by ambition. He said that Angelica, Barbssa, and the rest are noble people. The Boy said Cole left all his fortune to all. And the mob turns angry and turns against Barbossa and his crew and Jack, Angelica, and their crew, too. Jack finally got his Pearl in the bottle back from late Cole and Barbossa taking over Revenge and Jack stole Dying Gull from the harbor and they flee to Tortuga from the angry mob.
At night, after they escape from the mob, Jack, Angelica, and the others briefly stay on the island. Angelica hinted to Jack that she had a child with him.
Meanwhile, Barbossa is now the new Revenge captain of the ship, reunited with his beloved monkey, Jack and he and his crew make their way to Tortuga so people view him as the new popular and powerful pirate than Cole. Barbossa became a master of his fate.
The next morning, Angelica woke up and finds out she was deserted alone and being left by Jack. She felt betrayed by him. Gossipers said that Angelica had an honest comment about Jack. Angelica called Jack a “reckless scoundrel” and also realized that she’s also used by him, upsetting.
One lady asks, did Angelica forgives Jack. Gossipers said yes. The gossipers paused until they realized they have a similar thing as Angelica and began blunting about it.
