Jack barely registered the change in his surroundings, not until he was placed on the bed, then made to sit up and drink -- the taste of rum familiar on his tongue. He gulped the drink down, then fell back on the bed with a weak groan. It would take a little time until the alcohol takes effect on him, but once it did, Jack visibly relaxed, the pain he felt was no longer unbearable. He looked up, vision a little blurry, so he rubbed his eyes, smearing the kohl around them, mixed with the blood on his hand. At the moment, he couldn't be bothered by it.
"James?" He attempted to sit up again, but was too weak to do so. "Where... where am I?"
He looked around, and, slowly it dawned on him. He was in James' cabin. In James' bed. He let his head fall back against the pillow, closing his eyes once again. This time, however, he remained conscious... and a slight blush colored his otherwise pale cheeks. He hoped it wasn't too noticable.
"I'm thirsty," he muttered. "Can you get me some water?"
Another pained groan escaped the pirate's lips, but Jack forced himself to open his eyes and look up at James. Even in his feverish state, he could sense the panic in James' voice, see it in the way the Commodore looked at him.
,,Just make it stop," he muttered, instinctively pressing his head against James' chest. ,,Please. It hurts..." sure, Jack wasn't stranger to pain from injuries, but this damn fever was something else. Each spasms felt like his bones would break.
Then there was something else -- blood had started dripping from his nose. Raising a trembling hand, Jack wiped it away, then gazed at his bloody fingers.
,,No, no..." now he was panicked, too. Nosebleed wasn't a good sign, at all. He looked up at James again, a silent plea for help. His vision became blurry, breath coming in shallow gasps as he nearly fainted. Somehow he held on though, ever defiant.
Everything was a blur from then on, sailors rushing to carry out the Commodore's orders to fetch the doctor. Jack was barely aware of it all.

Jack had returned to the María Celestina just short before closing time. He had made sure to dress different this time, wearing a plain shirt and navy blue jeans. The doubloon he stole was safely tucked away in an inner pocket of his jeans. He waited until the visitors had left, then snuck outside from his hiding place, doing his best to avoid security cameras as well as he could.
He held his breath as he carefully lifted up the glass case, then fished the coin out and put it back to its rightful place. He had made sure to wear gloves, to avoid leaving fingerprints.
Jack put the glass back over the display, then left the way he came, sneaking off the ship and disappearing from the scene.
He had hoped he was unnoticed, and that putting the coin back would break the curse.
,,Aye, that's all perfectly clear, Chief." Jack felt being nervous creep up on him, but he didn't let that show. At all. Instead, he flashed that charming smile again. ,,I can assure you, my hands are clean in this."
,,Have a good day, Chief." He waved at James and the officers. Only when the patrol boat was out of sight, did he dare to breathe a sigh of relief. Best get that coin hidden as fast as possible.
With that, he set a course towards the cove, and once there, he fished the leather pouch out under his sash, then tucked it away in a safe spot only he could find.
Little did he know he was still in for a nasty surprise. As soon as he was back aboard the Eridanus, he decided to take a swig of rum he kept stashed away, being thirsty after the whole ordeal. Only, the rum did not seem to help, not even after the third swig. That was when Jack realized something was wrong.
,,What in the hells is going on?" He muttered, confused. Then it slowly dawned on him.
The doubloon he stole must be cursed. That was the only explanation he could think of.
Jack swore, tossing the bottle of rum back into its place. What was he going to do now?
For the first time in his life, Captain Jack Sparrow felt at a loss as for what to do. Other than one thing. He had to break the curse.
But how?

,,I can assure you, Commodore, this wasn't in my plans." Jack did his best to straighten his posture, though he remained close to the bucket in case another wave of nausea hit him again. His voice lacked its usual playfulness or charm, the way he always talked himself out of trouble. He was far too sick for that now.
He looked up at James, surprised almost, at the way the Commodore appeared to be so caring. He knew he had no time to dwell on it, however. This unforeseen illness had seemed to ruin both their plans. Jack attempted to stand, but found himself losing balance and collapsing -- straight into Norrington's arms.
,,Whatever happens now, please don't let me die..." he groaned, as pain shot through his body, making him tremble in James' arms. Jack closed his eyes -- he was on the verge of passing out. "Please -- get me out of here." He added, voice weak. He knew it sounded so unlike him, to plead like this, but what other choice did he have?
The answer was none.

Jack knew his luck would eventually run out and he'd end up captured by the Royal Navy -- it wouldn't be the first time it happened to him. He always managed to escape somehow; however it did not seem to be the case this time. He had a headache and felt weak, signs of a tropical illness creeping up on him.
Soon, he had found himself throwing up into the bucket in his cell, with fever and muscle aches setting in. He knew what it was. Dengue fever.
,,Fuck," he muttered weakly, wiping his mouth with his shirt sleeve. This was bad. This was very bad.
How on earth is he going to escape now, when he couldn't even think straight?

,,They're waiting for me at the cove the other side of the island, Chief." If Jack was nervous, his expression didn't betray it at all. "It's one of the hidden gems of our little island paradise. Very few people know how to find it. Legends say mermaids have been spotted swimming there, if you believe in such a thing." He grinned playfully at James, indicating that he did not necessarily believe in mermaids.
,,I've been in the harbor at such a time because I like to go sailing when the Sun sets. And when it's just you, the sea and the stars after dark, it is breathtaking, Chief. So that is why I might've been spotted." It wasn't exactly a lie. Jack really did like sailing at that time. His first love was and always have been the sea, after all.
,,As for that gold doubloon, I had no idea it was stolen." He furrowed his brows. "So I'm afraid I can't be of service in that matter. I hope you will find the thief soon."

Jack swore under his breath when he heard the order. Had his luck run out already? He was so sure he could get away with this. His expression betrayed nothing, however, as he slowed the Eridanus down before coming to a stop, the sailboat bobbing on the waves.
,,Is something the matter, Sir?" He asked, flashing James a charming smile. ,,Can I be of service? Because if not, I'd like to be on the way. There's a group of tourists waiting for me to pick them up just a short ways away. I'm taking them island hopping -- just the usual business, you know."
Jack had considered running away, but he knew that would've been impossible. True, the Eridanus was the fastest sailboat of the island, but she wasn't fast enough to outrun a patrol boat. The only option was to somehow talk himself out of this.

Jack had considered running away, but he knew that would've been impossible. True, the Eridanus was the fastest sailboat of the island, but she wasn't fast enough to outrun a patrol boat. The only option was to somehow talk himself out of this.
Ever since Jack had first seen that gold doubloon, he knew he was going to steal it. Though he did his best at leading a good life, working as an honest sailor taking tourists sailing around the island on his little sailboat, the Eridanus, he couldn't deny that pirate was in his blood, whether he liked it or not.
After all, his ancestors were pirates, and bloody notorious ones.
So there he was now, having succesfully stolen the coin from the María Celestina's exhibition, the doubloon hidden away in a small leather pouch tucked away under the sash tied around his waist. He dressed plainly apart from that - wearing a tshirt with a sea turtle on its front and navy blue shorts. Nothing that would've made him stand out too much in a crowd, or so he hoped at least.
He manouvered the Eridanus into port at the moment, letting a small group of tourists disembark, while acting all casual, as if all was well in the world, and he had nothing to hide.
,,I hope you enjoyed the trip!" He called cheerfully out to the tourists. He sure knew how to act innocent, though he suspected it the police might've been looking for him already. Best get that coin hidden somewhere else, he thought. There was a small cove few people knew of... that would be a good hiding place.
Little did Jack know there was a curse on his new treasure. He sure was in for a surprise, one he did not expect at all. He waved to the tourists he had just let off the boat, then he set sail again, heading for that hidden cove on the other side of the island.

Little did Jack know there was a curse on his new treasure. He sure was in for a surprise, one he did not expect at all. He waved to the tourists he had just let off the boat, then he set sail again, heading for that hidden cove on the other side of the island.
The air was thick with salt and tourists.
Chief Inspector James Norrington stepped off the dock and onto the creaking gangplank of the María Celestina, the so-called “crown jewel” of the harbor’s historical attractions. She was freshly waxed and obnoxiously polished, bobbing smugly in the water as if she wasn’t the scene of a high-profile theft.
He adjusted his sunglasses, not because the sun was in his eyes—but because he could feel a headache forming already.
A museum staffer—young, nervous, probably not used to talking to real police—greeted him near the main deck. “Sir, it—it was just gone this morning. No alarm, no signs of forced entry, nothing.”
James held up a hand. “Save the details. Just… show me the logbook.”
They led him past the velvet ropes and down into the exhibit hall, where a glass display case now sat suspiciously empty. The spotlight still shone dramatically on the void. A plaque below it read:
“Gold Doubloon – Circa 1697. Believed to be part of the Mad Red Corsair’s final plunder.”
Of course it was.
James took the logbook and flipped through the pages with a practiced eye. Names, numbers, mostly tourists. Then, at the bottom of the guest list from the night before:
“Captain Jack S.”
No address. No number. Just that—alongside a doodled compass rose that looked suspiciously smug for an ink drawing.
James glared at the empty display case, the stolen coin already weighing on his mind like a stone. He turned sharply toward Gillette and Groves, his tone biting and impatient. “Find Captain Jack S. I don’t care how—trace his steps, check the docks, question every bloody tourist if you have to. I want him now.” He paused, eyes narrowing.
Both officers stiffened and nodded in unison. “Yes, sir.”

So, those who've followed me/have known me for a while know I have an AU where Jack is half-siren... but where did that idea come from?
Well... ^^"" in The Price of Freedom, Jack is described as someone who has a good singing voice, also the fact that he can talk himself out of tough situations. So with that being canon, I thought... ,,what if Jack's mother was a siren?"
And bam. That's how that AU was born 😂

Muse(s) Masterpost

JACK SPARROW
Jack Sparrow was a legendary pirate of the Seven Seas and the irreverent trickster of the Caribbean. A captain of equally dubious morality and sobriety, a master of self-promotion and self-interest, he fought a constant and losing battle with his own best tendencies while living the pirate's life. Sparrow may be the best or worst pirate, depending on whose opinion to take into account, and was the quickest to seize the moment and make it his own; whether by cause and careful planning or mere accident was a matter of debate, but the results were the same and always different. He had been cursed, left for and come back from the dead, and seen his fair share of the supernatural through magic and mythical beings, as well as becoming the center of various myths and legends himself. Captain Jack Sparrow's first love was the sea, his second his beloved ship the Black Pearl, and desired freedom and adventure more than any material treasure.
Born on a pirate ship in a typhoon, Jack Sparrow was the son of Captain Edward Teague, Pirate Lord of Madagascar and Keeper of the Pirate Code. Before he became known as the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow, he was simply known as Jack Sparrow, an adventure-seeking teenage stowaway who sailed on a series of quests and missions for about one year, beginning with a quest for the Sword of Cortés with a ragtag crew on the Barnacle, struggling to find his place on the Seven Seas as he followed his enigmatic father's buccaneering footsteps. At some point in time following his earliest adventures, Jack earned the name "Jack the Sparrow" after a sea battle with the Silent Mary, which he defeated and sunk along with its captain, the merciless and ruthless pirate hunter Armando Salazar of the Spanish Navy, at the Devil's Triangle. In the wake of having facilitated the escape of Christophe-Julien de Rapièr, a friend who had been accused of rogue piracy, Jack was forced to abandon the pirate life and pursued a legitimate career as a merchant seaman for the East India Trading Company. Five years of service later, the wily sailor was given command of the Wicked Wench, a merchant ship owned by Cutler Beckett, the EITC Director for West Africa. Within the year as Beckett's employee, Sparrow searched for the magical island of Kerma and the treasure in the Shining City of Zerzura, until he decided to betray Beckett and keep the island and its inhabitants safe from Beckett and his slave traders. When Beckett ordered him to transport a cargo of humans as slaves to the Bahamas, promising to sell him the Wench for just one shilling, Sparrow initially agreed but chose to liberate them instead and stole the Wench from Beckett. Furious at being disobeyed, Beckett sent ships and men to track Sparrow and the Wench down, in which he was caught, imprisoned, and branded as a pirate, irrevocably returning Sparrow to a life of piracy, while the Wench was set aflame and sunk in order to punish Jack for his rebellion in freeing the slaves. After striking a bargain with the fearsome Davy Jones, the ghastly cursed captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman, in which his beloved vessel was raised from the depths in exchange for his immortal soul, Jack had rechristened the resurrected and transformed Wicked Wench as the Black Pearl, inspired by the Biblical parable of the "pearl of great price." Shortly afterwards, Jack Sparrow began the pirate's life anew and became one of the nine Pirate Lords of the Brethren Court, with Sparrow himself holding one of the Nine Pieces of Eight as the new Lord of the Caribbean Sea.
Verses and AUs
Main verse: is set between the events of Curse of the Black Pearl and At World's End (it is the mun's personal choice not to include the other movies in this verse).
Price of Freedom verse: in which Jack is still employed by the EITC, working for Cutler Beckett.
Siren!Jack AU: Jack is a half-siren in this AU, being the son of Captain Teague and Nethys, the siren queen. He has the ability to seduce people using only his voice, make them to do what he wants (with varying results), though he only uses this as a last resort should his plans go terribly wrong. He can also breathe underwater, and if he fully gives in to his siren nature, he can become stronger than your average human. He just rarely does it, however, in fear of not being able to snap out of it one day.
