Today we begin a new story in our Capricorn House. When I talk about Capricorn, I often mention how this sign teaches us to appreciate the simple things in life. There are times when life is dark and desolate, when we can’t see more than a few inches in front of us. The uncertainty can be overwhelming and we wrestle for control over our environments in any way we can. When we have a lot of planets in Capricorn, (like the Sun, Moon, Mercury and Mars,) it can feel like we are powerless to change anything about our circumstances.

We cannot blow through our obstacles or perform a magic spell to lift away our restrictions. There is only one way forward and it will be long and challenging. It’s easy to get dismayed, but Capricorn offers a change in perspective. It encourages you to consider the way the walls in front of you can serve as a foundation for your exit strategy. It begs to you focus not on how long this ride will take, but rather on what you can do to make it easier on yourself. This path will be easier if you stop to take the pebbles out of your shoe now instead of ignoring it and getting a cramp that forces you to stop later.

This New Moon, consider how small changes can set you up for future success. Reflect on your long term plans and how consistent daily practices could get you where you want to be faster than a quick fix that offers temporary relief. Is your goal worth the effort? This Capricorn new moon is helping us to get clear on what’s important to us and what we are ready to commit to. There is a beautifully creative energy to this new moon; we are ready to make something real in our lives. And we are being shown how to do so – the steps we need to take to get to where we want to go are becoming illuminated.

The energy of a new start is very strong – however this new beginning is a bit choppy. We want to get going, but may feel somewhat stalled. It may be helpful to see this as more of a time of reflection, planning, and preparation than it is for taking action.

This is a beautiful time to dream and feel into the life we want to create. What does your ideal life feel like? What does it look like? How can you embody and align with that energy right now?

The energy of impulsivity, childishness, and self-centeredness is something to be aware of at this time, especially in ourselves. We’ll need to be extra careful about not getting pulled into these energies or letting them take over. We are being pushed to develop emotional maturity and personal responsibility. 

As this can also be a rebellious and aggressive energy, significant unrest in the collective is possible around this time as well.

being the final new moon of 2022, this one is especially significant. in general, new moons are a time for setting intentions and bringing positivity into our lives. so, use this lunar energy to affirm your goals and new year’s resolutions. ground your affirmations.

this new moon is squaring chiron, the representative of our innermost wounds. this conflict may mean that this particular new moon will bring these wounds to the surface, which may have been bubbling beneath during 2022.

but, a focus on these wounds isn’t inherently a negative thing. use your recognitions to begin the process of working through them in the new year. the moon in capricorn can bring stability and practicality, which will aid you in this journey.

just earlier in this week we saw jupiter in aries bringing glow-up energy into our lives, both physically and spiritually, and the winter solstice bringing spirituality to us. jupiter has been bringing rapid change into our lives, and this is only increasing with this new moon.

jupiter has been asking us to take action, as is the moon. these combinations make this new moon particularly potent. use it as a sort of spiritual renaissance: visionboard and reset ready for 2023. do not waste this. get ready for your evolution; new cycles are beginning.
