favorite thing about Soda??

wow. where to begin? how does one look at their favourite written entity, sift through the catalogs they keep so meticulously of bits and pieces of these people they keep stored in their brains, and pick one singular thing to be their “favourite”? maybe they don’t. maybe other people are normal about sodapop curtis.

i could say something meaningful. maybe how trusting he is? how he’s able to bring out the good in people, dig up a shimmering, golden side of themselves to only try and mirror his endless radiance? maybe i could touch on how inherently good he is, how he is soft and caring and fierce and protective.

could i mention that i love how he is unashamedly himself? or maybe i could change my mind, say i love that he breaks himself and puts himself back together so he is a mangled, twisted version of himself, just for others to not appreciate how much work he puts in.

i could also get more personal, mention how i can relate to him as a non-intelligent middle child stuck between two fighting siblings. how i can contrast him, he being someone who loves with every fibre of his being, and me being someone who loves in increments; small pieces.

or i could just cut the crap and say my favourite thing about my dumb tin can man is his affinity for horses and his smile

thank you! ❤️❤️❤️ I LOVE the staff, I wish we got to see more of them -- every once in a while we'll get a little side bit of them interacting with each other and it's always SO good. (for that and more proof that EHN is the best event, see: the teachers trying to hold their own Halloween party without Crowley noticing because they don't want to invite him. why was this one scene and not a long-spanning subplot like it deserved to be. we were robbed.)

I have probably made it pretty obvious which of the staff is my favorite, because I love characters who are huge morons who couldn't read a room if they had industrial-strength prescription glasses:

but I'm pretty fond of all of them! it takes a certain kind of person to work at NRC for more than five minutes. though I do think Trein is probably my second favorite? he LOVES his cat! he LOVES his wife! he LOVES history even though he is fed up with these teens and their wacky misadventures! also, I really want to hear the rest of his saucy makeout story. talk about dangling plot threads. 😔

Was looking at refs and since Viktor has two different leg braces I was wondering, do we think he wears them simultaneously?? The refs don't perfectly line up perspective-wise so it's hard to tell but parts of the one he wears during the Hexcore scenes look like they could maybe line up with the brace that he wears over his clothes, but also some parts really don't and look like they'd be super uncomfy. you kiss the back of toji's hand one day very casually before intertwining your fingers with his and the man just kind of shuts down . bc what the hell did you just do????? kissed his hand?? you kissed his hand????? that's.. what?????? isn't he supposed to be kissing yours?????? and the fact that you're now just acting like nothing happened has him staring at you with widened eyes and slightly furrowed brows. you turn back to check on him because you realize that he's not following you anymore and just laugh lightheartedly when you see the faint blush on his cheeks and his burning ears. brining his hand to your mouth again, you press another kiss to his knuckles with a teasing smile glued to your lips and that makes him snap out of his daze. he tries to brush you off with a quiet click of his tongue but you know he liked it. you know he loved it.

something so fucked up about Chat Noir’s whole deal is that he is in a lot of ways Adrien playing a character. Like Adrien picked up his miraculous and was told he’d be a superhero so he was like “ok, time to act like a superhero!” and he lets himself have fun w it and play up the role and let loose and kind of just allow himself to be silly and goofy and have fun and for once in his life not care about performing Perfection™.

But. But none of the other characters KNOW THAT. So everyone just sees Chat Noir and is like “look at this guy’s ego. He’s so full of himself. Surely it’d be fair to knock him down a few pegs” without being aware of how few pegs he actually HAS. He’s like the “insecure character who overcompensates in ego” trope except he’s really not doing it unironically, he’s just having a fun LARP pretending to have self worth in his off-hours but nobody else is on the same page about it being a game and he refuses to tell them. He just dramatically pouts about it and lets them laugh and pretends like he’s not internalizing it and it is almost 3 am and my brain forced me to write this instead of sleeping I’m gonna take a melatonin
