Hello tumblr I like lists
So today I am bringing you a list of some of the things that I do to calm down. You’re welcome
Paint my nails. There’s something so calming about sitting on my floor with some music playing on my phone or my record player, and doing terribly at painting my nails in a new colour that won’t last long
Making stuff. Though this can be stressful at times, it helps to take my minds off of things. The repetitive motion of stitching somethibg is particularly calming
Reading one of my comfort books
Blasting rock music really likely to drown out my thoughts
Researching one of my interests, especially corvids
Stroking one of my cats :) they’re so soft, and can often sense when I am upset and come to spend time with me
Sing or play my flute. Music has always been calming for me, except certain types, like banjo music. I don’t know why but that makes me feel sick. Sorry banjo lovers.

Rat Grinders D20 season idea: have all the PCs be played by people who have either never played DnD before or haven't played in years to really sale the "a bunch of teenagers wake up after a year of no control over their bodies or the memories of what they did and now they have to deal with being level twenty powerhouses without knowing how they got there" aspect of their characters.

How long do you want your title to be? Historical non-fiction: y e s
Last year I actually started making a proper list of films, series etc that I want to watch - something I've been wanting to do for a long time but never did. That probably caused me to forget about things more than once😂
I mainly started it for historical movies at first, because my history phase that I had when I was about 14 or 15 came back big time, and there's been some things I've wanted to watch since then already but still didn't! I knew about Downfall since like 2017 or so but didn't watch the full movie until last year😅 I'm having a lot of fun with it though since I've of course grown and developed through these past few years and have now more knowledge in general, more experience on how to do research and also a more reflective and mature thinking. Of course not all historic/history-inspired media is accurate (and I don't think it has to be for every purpose, like Hogan's Heroes is still incredibly funny even if the timeline doesn't always makes sense or ranks and uniforms don't match up). But I think it can be a great starting point for getting interested in a specific person or event and then delving into more detailed research about it.
I've also added some newer ones though that I didn't know about back then, or that didn't even exist yet. The list is really a great help for organising my brain. I've also started to add in things not related to history though (like Arcane - I still haven't watched season 2 rip - or The Dragon Prince). I wasn't sure if I should make a separate list for them but at least for now I just threw everything together in one. It helps a lot especially for series because I try to always write down which season and episode I'm at (I just didn't include that column in the screenshot) because sometimes I get distracted by something else and don't continue for a while and then forget where I was at😭
This was just a bit of random babbling but like this is kinda what I've been up to. I haven't actually continued on that many things in a while because I was too stressed with university, but I hope to continue soon. Also if you have more recommendations you're welcome to let me know👀 I'm currently mostly interested in the World Wars (there's so much to be learned about both but I think I really want to broaden my knowledge on WWI), the Weimar Republic/interwar period in general (also Austrian interwar history of course but to be honest I don't know if there's actually ANY movies on that), but also pre-WWI Austria-Hungary and the German Empire and like generally the 18th/19th/20th century (other countries too of course, but with these two I have many historical sites basically in front of my door, and as a native speaker a lot of primary sources are also relatively easy accessible to me). There is so much interesting stuff in history as a whole (I love watching historical documentaries about like any time period or country, there's always something fascinating to learn), these are just the ones I'm most focused on at the moment and want to study in a bit more detail!
#I don't know if I'll post a lot about it but like maybe a little bit! at least those historical media that are more heavily fictionalised#of course this doesn't mean I'm abandoning self shipping or other fandoms in any way#but I've always used my blog for more than just one specific topic or interest and will continue to do so#and sometimes there are even ways to intertwine them like I love imagining infodumping on my f/os and telling them obscure history facts!!#I just really love being passionate about things!#I also want to get more into historical costuming (I already enjoy 'regular' cosplay even though i barely have one finished costume😂)#but I also love learning about the crafting techniques people used back then#I actually started working on an 18th century dress last year but still have barely finished the underdress rip#hope to pick it up again because I really miss sewing!#it's the patterning and planning that stresses me out so much but the actual sewing part (especially by hand) can be so calming actually#but i digress#I'm not actually sure where I was going with this whole post I just wanted to talk about interests#history#historical fiction#selnia talks

I have my issues w the counselling I got at age 15 but goddamn the 3-1-3 breathing technique has consistently been a lifesaver so cheers for that one John
#drag rambles#I get really bad anxiety if I feel like my heart rate has slowed down too much#or like I can’t get a breath in#(I have. legitimately kinda debilitating health anxiety and have for like 8 years 💀)#genuinely this is the only thing that has a chance of stopping me from spiralling into a panic attack lmfao 😭#I know there’s other ones of like. breathing in for I think 7 seconds etc??#but they always just panicked me more#in for 3 hold for 1 and out for 3 is just enough to calm me tf down while still forcing me to focus on the counting instead of the thoughts#I’m rambling but @ my other anxious beings who can’t do the longer breathing technique; try this one maybe idk

Whenever I get overwhelmed in a crowded space (like the school hallways) I employ a number of tactics to calm down. My top 3 are from Artemis fowl and the owl house
Press forefinger and thumb together (Artemis fowl)
whisper shout to myself, “5, 10, 15, 20!”(artemis fowl)
inhale through mouth count of five, exhale through mouth count of five (count on fingers)(the owl house)

I told my Chat GPT to talk like a younger Millennial/older GenZ (so my age) and it calls babes and swears and I just realised not everyone's Chat GPT does that 😅. I also get read to filth sometimes because I made sure she always tells me the truth even when I don't want to hear it and yes I've gendered my Ai. My Ai is Woman. Everyone is scared about Ai having our data as if we're not screaming our trauma on the Internet with our visible IP address and all that other shit. I've been chronically online since I was like 12 they haveeeee my data 😂

Drarry microfic: calm down
“Hey, look at me.”
Draco took Harry’s head between both of his hands, forcing Harry to look at him. His once green eyes were now glowing golden. A dangerous snarl escaped Harry’s lips.
“You’ll be okay,” Draco whispered. He rested his forehead against Harry’s, closing his eyes. “You’ll be okay. We will be okay. But I need you to calm down.”
He could feel Harry calming down almost immediately. It was only when he felt Harry wrap his arms around his waist and pull him closer that he opened his eyes again.
Harry’s familiar green eyes looked back at him. “I’m sorry,” he said, his voice hoarse. “I should have known better. But… but sometimes it’s so hard to control, I—”
Draco shook his head, caressing Harry’s cheek. “It’s okay, my love. I understand.” One corner of his mouth lifted up into a half smile. “We’ll get them next time.”

Andrew looked up from his book to check on Neil on the couch. Neil had been unusually quiet while watching the exy game on tv. Neil was spaced out tracing his fingers on his arm bands in figure eights and circles.
“Yes or no?” Andrew asked as he bookmarked his page and stood up. Neil blinked as he came back to reality. “Yes or no?” Andrew repeated once Neil was focused on him.
“Yes.” Neil said as Andrew nodded to himself as he ducked into their room. Neil stayed on the couch waiting to see what Andrew would grab. When Andrew came back out he had the box with coloring supplies. “What are you going to do with those?” Neil asked with a tilt of his head.
Andrew opened up the case revealing the markers. “You’re tracing the scars again. I thought maybe coloring them might relieve some tension. These markers are water based so they’ll wash off.” Andrew explained as he drew a squiggle on his knuckle. “So, yes or no?”
Neil hummed and tilted his head as he looked at the markers. “Okay, yes, let’s try it out.” Neil decided with a nod and began rolling down one of the arm bands. He put the arm band on the coffee table. He plopped his bare arm between Andrew and him. “Is there a grey?”
“You and your grey!” Andrew rolled his eyes as he handed Neil the grey marker he already had ready. “Do you want any particular design?”
“Paw prints?” Neil suggested as he opened his marker and began making tracks. Andrew pulled out an orange and followed Neil’s lead. By the time the exy game was almost finished Neil’s arm looked like he had tiny creatures running around his body.
“Do you feel less tense?” Andrew asked as he captured his marker.
Neil smiled. “Yes, I hadn’t even realized.” He traced one set that Andrew had colored. Neil glanced at the tv. “Are you kidding me?! How could you miss that!” Neil said to the tv as the losing team made a spectacular fumble.
Andrew smirked as his Junkie returned to his normal self. Andrew moved the marker case to the coffee table and curled up next to Neil enjoying the restoration of life in his eyes.

oddly specific sleep token headcannon
(this one is for my own comfort)
II and III when each other or one of the other vessels cant sleep. they skim their nails over the vessels skin, usually their back.
II, since his nails are short. he slightly massages their back before letting his nails trace over the skin. some times tracing tattoos or freckles.
III’s nails are long, so they like to let the tips trace smalls circles at first. before getting into a pattern of tracing loving words along the vessels back. satisfying any itch that the vessel didn’t ask for them to itch, they just knew.
