Sigh. I've been bullied. I guess. I did a big swing and a miss on last years list, but I have a Plan this time. A Theme. A Goal. This will be mostly comprised of my Illumicrate books so I can decide if it is in fact worth it to keep my subscription going until the Alecto edition gets announced. If I don't actually enjoy the majority of the books in these boxes then what's the point, yknow?

PHEW. Okay. A fw things to note. A Dark and Drowning Tide is an Illumicrate book, but I didn't pay for it. A friend gave it to me after I skipped that month because she wasn't interested. I always look up book spoilers and skip if I'm not interested and if I'm uninterested in any of the stuff I'll skip even if the book seems neat. That month the box was full of fandoms I didn't care about, so my friends said "here, take my copy" and I said "yay! Free book!"

The Last Hour Between Worlds I think was also an Illumicrate book? They do fanart for it so I assume it was at some point. I did not get it. This is not the IC edition. I was not thrilled about The Tethered Mage so I was going to get this out of the library. Then my mom bought it for me for the holidays. So yay! Free book!

I think I would also like to keep track of books I purchase this year. I'd like to cut down on buying books that I won't love. So I'd like to utilise my library more. Win win, I think! And that seems easier than a full out ban since yeah sometimes I do enjoy little treats! Books purchased for other people do not count, obviously.

There are also some books I'd like to reread this year, mainly The Bone Maker because I've been saying that since I read it the first time. And honestly, I've been chasing the same vibes and haven't been able to match it (Godkiller got close!).

As usual, I reserve the right to pretend this post doesn't exist, but I think I've set myself up for success here :)

i can't believe my wife is a groupie now.. they just went to their 8th king gizzard and the lizard wizard concert this tour, and got a set list from one of the band members who doesn't usually give out set lists but he recognized them... and they have so many groupie friends now? they drove to this concert with someone who's done ketamine with kesha.

Hello bitches, would you happen to have any advice about selling your car?

The only time I've sold a car was a complete fluke. I happened to sit next to a local mechanic while waiting for a flight home after a business trip, and mentioned that my Subaru had just broken down and I couldn't afford to fix it. We exchanged numbers, got back to our home city, and he bought it off me for $1k. He fixed the engine himself and sold it for a profit.

So... nope! I don't have much hands-on advice. I recommend you look up the value in Kelly Blue Book to figure out how to price it, but that's the extent of my advice.

Any people with sheep in the central florida area willing to sell wool to me?

I'm willing to clean and process it myself - I want to try making my own wool batting for quilts. But I can't have the damn cute things in my back yard ( not enough space, HOA would also say no).

If you also know cheaper ways to get 100% wool for quilt batting let me know too ( that stuff is expensive); but yeah I'm happy to throw money at local people who can give wool.

Is there like a network or forum I can join of sheep farmers willing to sell wool? Come on guys, we gotta keep the sheep people in business!!!

i am now gonna speedrun buying some plants cuz i realized that Aquatic Arts has a sale ending today. and i might add in a B-grade nerite snail... just for funsies.... (enrichment for betta that he might not kill? i know they kill shrimp but what about snails??)

i am looking at a java fern on driftwood and a dark red ludwigia for the 5gal, and a red jungle val for the goldfish tank (to root in a jar). they are supposedly hardy fellows. many plants intrigue me, but i know i gotta start small v_v

another reason I hate the trend of chapter releases of official manga is because there’s a nonzero chance the translation just stops for over half a year and you get no explanation. is the official translation dropped? is the series on haitus? who knows!

I got a refurb canon rebel t7 as a wedding gift last year and have several good lenses (Tamron something for landscape, and a canon 55-250 mm for zooms) both of which are second hand from camera shops, but I was wondering what exactly do you recommend for a birding setup? Preferably dedicated amateur-friendly, and not national geographic level! Also I'm limited to the t7 for at least a while. The 55-250 is blurry at max zoom but I can get decent pictures with good lighting and a stationary subject and I wonder if better lens will help. Thank you!

Hi! I'm gonna be honest, 85% of my wildlife photos on this blog were taken with my Canon Rebel T6i and a Canon 55-250mm. It is not a professional level lens but it is extremely versatile and was my go-to for years and years. I would highly recommend it as a budget lens for pretty much everything!

I would personally stay away from the Canon 75-300mm. It's a decent lens but you get a lot of distortion and I found the image stabilizer lacking. I used my 55-250mm much more than my 75-300mm.

My current set up is a refurbished Canon 7D, which I really like so far, and a Sigma 150-600mm. You can definitely get better lenses (and better cameras) but for where I'm at in terms of skill, usage, and budget, it's pretty much perfect. I'm really excited to get out more this year now that I have a really solid set up!
