Hi so re: sihkism and Superheros from someone who doesn't know much on the subject of Sihks... But isn't a big thing like... Being obviously identifiable? Like, the head garment and the beard are there so people like me know I can ask them for help? Am I wrong? I was always so confused about the lack of the most Superhero sounding thing ever not having any superheroes. Am I wrong about sihkism?

haha you are not. so sikhism is complicated, but yes, the turban is mostly about a sense of community and to loudly and proudly be "obviously identifiable". it is basically a statement to say that "i am a part of this community" and you like follow the sikh scripture and the five K's (basically it's a list of things sikhs are supposed to do/wear). To be very fair, only THE most religious Sikhs wear turbans. They're actually not part of something we "have to" wear, it's more just for convenience because one of the things we do "have to" do, is never cut our hair, and so it helps keep it up and out of the way. honestly, sikhism does state like "hey, even if you cut your hair and never pray and do none of the five K's, you're still sikh”. the beard just is part of the never cut your hair thing :P

honestly i might start religiousposting (just a little!!!) because there are some fucking metal lines in the sukhmani (basically similar to the bible but for sikhs). i'm not sure about the asking for help thing, but Sikhism does state that we are to help anyone who should need it, even bear arms to defend others if necessary. hell, one of our gurus (basically our main religious figures whose teachings we follow) was like "hey, fuck these assholes oppressing people on religion. make sure to wear this sword so you can defend others and yourself". (paraphrasing ofc) yeah trust me i'm just as confused as you are haha. but considering 70% of the USAmericans don't even know what Sikhs are, i'm not too surprised.

I'll be honest, I think it's boring when people get upset with others for not believing in the exact manga canon of naruto. Just watching the anime is fine, who cares? The Canon of naruto is so fucked up and flawed morally and functionally that think you should be able to warp it however you want with non-canonical bullshit. Or don't. Again, who cares? Whatever makes it more interesting for you imo

Sometimes I wish I had more people interested in my creations, but then I get hit by thoughts like “Imagine the outrage you’d be faced with if your Avatar Suiren AU was more popular. This is the fandom that still cannot ‘forgive’ Korra for SOMETHING THAT WAS DONE TO HER, calling her the worst Avatar for losing the connection to her past lives (which came about because she HAD RAAVA LITERALLY RIPPED OUR OF HER) and acting like that is somehow a worse offence than, say, inaction leading to genocide. The hate you’d get for intentionally making Suiren the last Avatar would be IMMEASURABLE” and go “… actually, I’m glad that for the most part it’s just @katkastrofa and I–”
