Okay I know I said I wasn't gonna respond but then they hit me with this stupid diagram so now I need to unpack this

From the moment you saw my reblog you immediately assumed a whole bunch of things about me and have refused to let any of those assumptions for this entire reblog chain. I just decided to glare over the obvious issues so that I could at figure out where you were coming from. I now have no more reason to do that, so there's no point in continuing the discussion.

No I'm not. Once again, my original post has NOTHING to do with my own political stance. Yes this is a political book written by someone who's...controversial, to put it lightly, but that does not stop me from having my own interpretation of the book. At no point have I ever said that my interpretation is correct. I have, however, said that I don't agree with the idea that the book is telling you not to stand up to your oppressors (though I would not refute the idea that it's the author's irl intentions). At no point has anyone given me a reason to believe in this interpretation. Instead, you in particular have immediately profiled me as a "liberal" (which may I add, is a word that is also used as an insult by CONSERVATIVES), called me a chimpanzee for having an opinion (mind you, I'm black, so I have a very good reason for finding that racist), and kept trying to spread the idea that I'm trying to be 'revolutional' and that I think George Orwell is peak revolutionary media. My brother in Christ I'm talking about a book. Yes it relates to the real world (read: me comparing the book to Stalin's reign, someone else comparing what I said to what's going on in America with Trump), yes the book is trying to be anti-communist, yes George Orwell is a bad person. None of that changes what I've said.

Can you pls explain to me the proper way to raise a child gender neutrally, especially in a world that loves to push gender? It’s something I always wanted to do when I have my own kid but I’m scared the world is just not ready for that kind of thing and my child will get bullied by other kids/adults.

Unfortunately the feasibility of this does depend on where you live. I’m lucky to live in a fairly liberal college town — the state as a whole is awful, but in this town we have drag shows and a huge pride parade and rainbow stickers in shop fronts. There are still transphobic people here of course, but they generally know that being too overt about it will have social repercussions.

However! It doesn’t necessarily have to be an all-or-nothing thing! When your kid's a baby it’s up to you how you refer to them while in different situations, so you’re free to adjust your language as seems necessary. And then when they’re old enough to care, well, at that point it’s not up to you anyway! (My kid has decided she’s a nonbinary girl, hence the she/hers in this post.)

So here’s a list of things my partners and I did, and you can decide which things seem safe / worth it to you.

We gave her a name that doesn’t have strong gender connotations.

We shopped in the boys and girls sections equally, aiming for a roughly equal number of fancy little button ups vs fancy little dresses, pink diapers vs blue diapers, etc.

We told friends and family that we were planning to raise her gender neutrally and use they/them pronouns, until/unless she expressed a preference otherwise.

Our explanation to adults was along the lines of “We don't want to assign a gender to our child, because we think gender should be a freely-made choice rather than something that is assumed based on body type. So, we're raising them gender neutrally until they decide what they want to be. We’re not assigning them 'nonbinary', either; we’re using they/them to help avoid gendered bias, so they’ll get to experience feminine, masculine, and ungendered options equally. That way every option will be open to them as they learn their own preferences and decide who they want to be.”

Our explanation to kids was along the lines of “I don’t know yet if they’re a boy or a girl or something else! When babies are born, the doctor guesses what gender they’ll be. But sometimes the doctor guesses wrong, and the kid grows up to be a different gender. We decided not to guess what gender our baby will be, because we want to let them choose.” This usually makes perfect sense to 4-5 year olds! (Younger kids might not entirely understand or care, and older kids might have more questions.) However, you gotta be careful with this, bc even some people who are okay with you explaining your own adult transed gender won’t like you implying to their children that everyone should have that option and the whole system is bs. The less objectionable explanation is “I’m going to wait until they’re older to ask them whether they’re a boy or a girl.” Or even answering "What gender is your baby?" with "What do you think?" and then "Maybe!"

We didn’t announce her agab. When people asked, we refused to answer, more or less politely depending on the vibes. If you really want to make them feel bad you can give them a weird look and say “My child’s body is none of your business??” but there’s also the gentler “I don’t think it really matters!” We did fill out her assigned sex for official paperwork, like doctor's forms and legal government stuff, but for more casual forms we sometimes skipped the question or wrote in "we are raising them gender-neutrally" or "they/them".

We generally didn’t correct strangers or explain it to them unless they asked. Nothing wrong with some people assuming “she” and some people assuming “he”, as long as it’s not always just one or the other. If a stranger asked about their gender, I'd go for a quick "We're raising them gender-neutrally." I did also have to clarify fairly often that I only have one kid, when I talked about them and people assumed the "they" was plural, but that was never a big deal it was just kinda funny.

We did correct friends and family, since if they used gendered pronouns it was an active choice or mistake rather than a clueless assumption. Most of our circles are queer so most people were chill about it, but some family members changed one diaper and immediately assigned a pronoun set. We didn't think it was worth fighting over or limiting access, since it's not like they were disrespecting the baby's preference. But we did keep correcting them / emphasizing the neutral pronoun in our replies.

When she started preschool, we preemptively explained to her teachers that we're raising her gender-neutrally, and to please refer to her using "they/them" unless she said otherwise, and to avoid splitting the class into boys vs girls teams or anything like that. Again, fairly liberal town, and the preschool even has a teacher who uses they/them, so the teachers agreed without issue. iirc, they messed up occasionally but they were making an effort, and again I wasn't too bothered as long as my kid wasn't.

When she started using she/her sometimes, I let her teachers know, and told them to follow her lead. When we talked with friends and family we just used the right pronouns ourselves, and explained if they asked or it came up. And then once she was consistently using just she/her, we made a facebook post about it and started correcting people with a quick "She actually decided to use she/her, now."

And then here's how we talked about gender with her, specifically.

When she was old enough to start wondering who's a boy and who's a girl and what that even means, we explained, "Some people are girls, some people are boys, some people are neither or both or something else. I decided I don't want to be a boy or a girl, I'm nonbinary instead. You can decide if you want to be a boy or a girl or nonbinary or something else, too." and "Well, maybe that person's a boy, but they could be something else; I don't know because I don't know them. I don't know their name or anything either." We decided not to explain how differently most of society treats gender, the stereotypes of gender presentation, etc, until she started noticing that stuff herself. Explaining that it's wrong still involves putting those ideas into her head, which was going to happen pretty soon anyway regardless. Might as well start with a foundation of pure gender anarchy while we can.

When she noticed that every other kid she's met already had a gender, we explained "A lot of parents guess what gender their kid will be, and sometimes they guess right or sometimes they guess wrong. [Friend]'s mom guessed that she was a girl, and [friend] agrees! But when Mama was a kid people guessed she was a boy, and then she grew up and decided she's actually a girl. We didn't want to guess for you and maybe get it wrong, so we decided to wait until you were old enough to decide for yourself what gender you want to be."

Occasionally when the topic came up, we would ask if she felt like she wanted to be a girl or boy or something else, or specifically ask if she liked "they/them" or wanted to use "she/her" or "he/him". When she was ~2, she didn't entirely understand and didn't care. When she was ~3, she occasionally said she wanted to be a girl or use she/her, but immediately changed her mind as soon as we actually referred to her as such. (This is quite in-character for her, because she's generally averse to big changes and doesn't like to do anything she doesn't feel totally confident about.) When she was ~4 she finally stuck with it, and now she's a nonbinary girl who uses she/her, and her feelings about gendered terms like "daughter" still go back and forth a bit.

When she started expressing preferences in clothing, colors, etc, we just got things she liked, which ended up being dresses and sparkles.

As she started noticing gender differences, picking up stereotypes from school and media, etc, we'd address them as they came up. "Yes, a lot of people think dresses are just for girls. But I think that isn't very fair. Some boys love to wear dresses, and some girls don't, and that's just fine! It's not very nice to tell someone else what they're allowed to wear. (Unless they need certain clothes to say safe, like a jacket in the winter.)"

We also had to tell her to stop being sexist, lol. "It's fine that you think girls are awesome, they are! But boys are awesome too. It's not very nice to say you won't play with someone just because of their gender. If someone said they wouldn't play with me because I'm nonbinary, I would be so sad! If you don't want to play with [these three classmates] because they're usually too loud and rough, that's fine, but that's not because they're boys; that's because of what games they like to play. Some girls like to play loud and rough, and some boys like to be more careful and quiet like you. Can you think of any boys in your class who you like to play with sometimes? ... See, boys can like all sorts of different games, just like girls can."

We ended up getting the easiest resolution (at least for now): by the time she reached the age where kids start caring about these things, she'd started caring, and settled into being a classic girly girl (with the occasional splash of nonbinary flavor). If she'd stuck to they/them, she'd probably be starting to have a harder time in school -- definitely not full bullying, given her 12-kid 2-teacher private kindergarten class, but probably some frustration with constantly correcting people.

However... if she was more gnc, she woulda ended up that way sooner or later, anyway. If I was choosing between "she's out and proud trans and gets some shit for it" or "she's unhappy with being cis but doesn't realize she has other options," I'd always choose the former, because in that case she gets a choice. By the time kids are old enough to bully each other over gender, they're old enough to decide whether they want to be out at school, y'know? And I've always been ready to pull her from school if it ever became necessary due to peer bullying or unsupportive teachers, especially since she shares a lot of the traits that my wife got bullied for as a child.

It is possible to go 100% gender-neutral, and cut anyone out of your life who opposes it, including moving schools or even moving house if necessary. There are people who will support this choice, even cishet people who don't really get the trans thing but know that unconscious sexism can have a big effect on babies' development. Maybe more people than you think! But it depends on your local culture. And sometimes it takes a certain amount of privilege to be able to prioritize finding those people, and it's simply not worth, say, paying more to switch daycares to find a teacher who won't gender your baby. Sometimes you do have to balance your priorities, and you can't know how much balancing it will actually take until you get there.

So, overall, my advice is just to do whatever you feel comfortable with! What sounds worse to you: gendering your baby, or fighting against society's attempts to gender them? Obviously when you have a trans child you fight for them, but it's a muddier question when the child doesn't care yet. Most of our queer friends aren't going full they/them gender neutral with their kids like we did, because they don't want to have to constantly explain that on top of all the shit they deal with for being queer. Instead they're just being extra firm about shopping in both sections of the store, not falling to stereotypes, and explaining to their child that they can decide to be something else if they want.

And there's a lot of options in between -- maybe you use they/them at home, but he/him at school, or maybe even she/her at home to balance out the school. Maybe you name and dress them gender-neutrally (or both fem and masc) and don't correct any assumptions. Maybe you tell one side of the family that you're going gender anarchy neutral so they should avoid gendered terms, but you only tell the other side that you're going feminist equality so they should make sure to gift both pretend kitchen toys and pretend power tools. It's the same as deciding in what situations you want to be out vs stay stealth/closeted.

When they're a baby it doesn't matter much either way (as long as you're not being sexist in your reactions to their behavior) because they're a baby, they could not care less. And then when they're old enough to pick their gender, you're hopefully giving them that choice regardless of what you did when they're a baby. It's true that the starting point you gave them may affect their gender journey, but that's true of gender neutrality as well.

So if you think it'll be too risky in the time and place in which you're raising your child, you really don't have to feel bad about not doing it. It's okay to save your energy for when your child really needs it. But if it's something you're committed to, it is possible! I'm so glad that my family was able to make this choice. I actually loved the conversations that it opened up with all sorts of people about gendering children! Even though I got in trouble one time for explaining gender too well to the children at the daycare I worked at, lol. And I know that gendering my kid as a baby would've made me more uncomfortable than any number of awkward conversations. I love knowing that her pink purple flower unicorn heart dresses are something she freely chose!!

DISCLAIMER: These posts I'm doing are my own analyses and are done with the intentional eye to examine the relationship between Lucanis and Illario. I try to source all my assertions from what the text is giving me. This is not Lucanis critical nor should it be taken as such.

Going to be a shorter post today because I have things to do this morning!

Starting off strong in the next scene with me… loving on the fashion notes <3 So glad to know that we get stiletto heels clicking against cobblestone. Surely hoping that no magister twists their ankle and falls and breaks their fucking neck because their shoe got caught in a gap!

Also, velveteen is in? Someone who knows fabrics weigh in and tell me if that would be an appropriate material for the climate.

"So the Wigmaker. Tell me about him." / "He's weird." ← Lucanis goes on to say that he 'finds the moment before a job crucial for focus, but Illario was never one for comfortable silence'. To me, that beggars the explanation that the following passage is Illario goading him a bit.

I: "Specifics, cousin. No one hires us to kill normal people." L: "I gave you a dossier." I: "Yes, but I want your assessment." L: "I wrote it. It is my assessment." I: "Humor me." L: "You'll see soon enough."

There was a little bit of debate in my previous post about whether or not Illario actually read Lucanis's dossier. I don't think that the text supports that interpretation, but everyone is allowed to interpret what they want.

I'll argue that Illario has read the dossier: throughout the story up until this point, Illario has made comments about the job that implies he has SOME understanding of what they are doing—even going out of his way to make arrangements with a tailor so that he can be prepared for the part of the contract that Lucanis asked him to help with.

He knows that they need to be in Minrathous, at a party, facing a 'premiere wigmaker', and aware of the fact that they're up against Venatori. He knew they needed to be at a mansion and all of this comes up previous to this point when asking about Lucanis's assessment.

Additionally, asking for more clarification on something that someone else wrote is actually normal when the plan has clearly changed several times. Illario has increasingly expressed confusion on how the navigation is being handled, and, when asking for more information, is specifically asking after the Wigmaker himself, not the entire plan.

Also, the narrator is telling us that Lucanis prefers to be quiet while Illario likes to talk. It was pointed out to the me that this is close third POV, so why would the narrator bring that difference up, and not reference the idea that Illario has a tendency to not read documents?

(A few paragraphs later, while balancing on the rooftops, it's stated that 'At least Illario was too busy concentrating to ask questions'.) ← I wonder why he'd need to ask so many… I'm not trying to be snarky, but I am trying to make a point and using the text to support it. This also is NOT Lucanis crit and I'm worried some people are interpreting it as such.

The commentary from Lucanis about the previous Minrathous parties is insane btw. Retching vases? Acrobats? An orgy? No wonder they kept us in Dock Town in VG… (shakes fist)

First mention of Lucanis's sensitivity toward the Veil. "The backs of his eyeballs itched like he hadn't blinked in days". I think he says this primarily about blood magic at some point in VG? Which tracks and keeps up with WMJ.

"Something's wrong." / "Yeah. We're up here, away from the fun." ← insane of illario to say this i'm sorry. bro there are blood mages down there.

L: "Focus." I: "I am." L: "On the job." I: "To be fair, you never told me the plan."

You guys get it at this point. (That last sentence loops back up to my previous point… Illario has read the dossier. He knows the contract. He does NOT know how Lucanis is going to HANDLE it beyond what he's been asked to do re: getting Lucanis inside).

Lucanis shrugged. "Find Ambrose. Slit his throat." "Sounds complicated." "It will be. The Veil's thin here. Thinner than I expected."

Illario seems pretty fine with this explanation so I am not going to keep dragging it out. I do like how in-tune Lucanis seems to be with his abilities! I wish we could've seen more of that in VG; iirc he doesn't comment on the state of the Veil or magic very often?

This is the part of the story where we get to see their back-and-forth and how Illario is a bit of a rake! Which I personally enjoy. I love a manwhore (*said affectionately). Sorry.

"Plenty of time for some good, old-fashioned debauch—" I think he's funny. And maybe a bit distracted.

The narrator describes Ambrose as 'of average height and build' which is a description that pisses me off when fanfic does it and published works are not immune to my ire. What the hell is 'average'. That's so subjective.

The rest of the description is nice, though: hawkish gold eyes and a jaw that could break teeth. ← I know I said this was a breakdown of the brothercousin dynamic but I need to weigh in on other things sometimes. <3 Heart.

"They're never what you envision, are they?" Illario noted. "What did you expect?" "Hair, for one. Maybe a funny little dog." That got a chuckle out of Lucanis, if only briefly.

Stop being funny!!! I do like this banter back and forth because this feels like it's the least… leaden with underlying, complicated dynamics? I like it a lot and it feels natural for them.

Making notes on the fashion of the guard-captain. 'She wore an emerald gown with a high-waisted, low-tiered skirt and a fitted tulle bodice studded with champagne-colored crystals. Metallic body paint shimmered on her exposed arms and legs'. ← Fascinating.

It sounds like it might be a reference to the women's fashion from the Tevinter concept art. Bit gaudy.

You know, as we've been discussing past campaigns I've seen the argument that Vox Machina had a lot of break time and the Mighty Nein less, and Bells Hells almost none, and while I think there's a case for the last point, I don't think the first two are true!

I found when the comfort episode post was going around that people brought up episodes like 2x62, and the thing is, that is an episode where the party has a period of time to explore the city without an immediate pressing threat and is explicitly told that; but that is only the most obvious way to express downtime; a discrete period of time compressed into one episode that calls itself a downtime episode. [for what it's worth, my comfort episodes happen to be ones where more things happen anyway; I recall finding 2x62 fine but a little dull in the moment and getting excited when the plot picked back up].

What's also weird is actually Vox Machina didn't have a lot of downtime interspersed; they did have one giant time jump that covered a year in a single episode, and while I enjoy that, and while I even think the cast conveyed that time passing well (vs, and unfortunately this is my only real example as it stands out for lacking this sense otherwise I would avoid the most hot-button relationship, the way that Imogen and Laudna at no point feel like two years of travel have passed between them) it's one single episode and in terms of how we view the campaign, it only lasts a few hours and it's all at once, and the plot shortly after kicks into a very fast pace, with the final fifteen episodes taking place over only a few days (barring the epilogue). A lot of their downtime moments take place amid the Chroma Conclave arc, where there is still a pressing issue to get back to momentarily. Episode 1x72 is technically "downtime"; but it is no more or less downtime than say, most nights the Mighty Nein spend in the tower during the Aeor arc, or the entire middle of episode 2x85. It's just that this has the container of One Episode That Is A Downtime Episode vs those being several hours within an episode in which something else also happens, while there is still an overall ticking clock of an overall mission that is not entirely complete.

Downtime is hard to define, but I prefer to think of it as "a time when the focus is on the party recovering from something difficult, when RP and character relationship building takes priority." The Rexxentrum episodes of Campaign 2 qualify as do, in my opinion, episodes 99-100, as, as I have said, a lot of the nights in the tower. It doesn't need to be set aside in its own episode and indeed I think the story is stronger when it isn't.

I do think Campaign 3 does lack that, and I think the compressed timeline and overarching arc the entire time is part of that, but I do not think that having one big plot prevents having downtime. It's just...not something Bells Hells did. They would go to rest at night and do nothing and wake back up in the morning. And the point of this post isn't to discuss why that is, but more to say that downtime in a TTRPG or in actual play at large isn't something you have to wait for the DM to initiate, and isn't something that has to be started at the beginning of one session and ended at the end of that session. All it needs is a few hours for the ticking clock to stop - and in D&D, where long rests are pretty much necessary to mention, that's not difficult unless your DM truly is running the PCs ragged (in which case there's bigger fish to fry here).

It’s often said in the TTRPG industry “a rising tide raises all ships,” implying that all the people flocking to D&D5e is good for the entire TTRPG industry, but that isn’t really true, not when a monopoly and a walled garden are involved. D&D5e doesn’t actually “bring more people into the hobby,” it waits at the door with a net to snatch newcomers and make sure they don’t get any further in. What we do is stand there with a knife and try to cut holes in that yet. This actually benefits the wider TTRPG space, including us.

Everything about WotC’s marketing (and they have so much more marketing than you realize) is engineered to keep you ignorant of your options and present D&D5e as the only, or at least the default, TTRPG. This is how you get people who think that if they don’t like combat they don’t like TTRPGs, or, more often, thinking that if they don’t like combat they can just play D&D5e and cut out all the combat - it’s also how you get people thinking that “combat isn’t roleplaying,” or that rules in general get in the way of roleplaying. To those people I say no, D&D5e’s rules just get in the way of roleplaying for you because 90% of the rules are about combat and you don’t like combat so you stop roleplaying and just try to push through it as fast as possible. Play a game that doesn’t emphasize combat like D&D5e does, or play a game with better combat rules. (D&D5e, for being a game that emphasizes combat so much, doesn’t actually have great combat rules.)

Me personally, I love combat roleplaying. Even though Eureka: Investigative Urban Fantasy gameplay is mostly not combat, one of the reasons the combat rules are so crunchy is because I love a good combat system and the characterization and expression that can come from it.

In my personal group’s AD&D2e campaign which I have posted about before here, a bunch of my characters are Fighters, and even though combat is both simpler and rarer in AD&D2e compared to D&D5e, there’s still plenty there to provide support for characterization through combat.

Some rambly infodumping if you’d like to know more about the AU:

Alastor a feral little rascal but is capable of being a polite little gentleman if he chooses to be! 😆 As a de-aged gremlin he does love to scamper about with his hoovsies out, usually forgoing shoes, which adult Alastor would loathe hehe! In being de-aged, a lot of the things Alastor tries to hard to present himself as (refined, in-control of his every reaction, put-together and neat, etc!) are mostly stripped away, and he’s left even more impulsive, reactive (both negative and positive emotions!), inclined to blab what he’s thinking, act messy and unrefined, etc! Which again, older Alastor would HATE 😆

hi!! so i don't use the preteen mod, but i do use the shortest height preset from this set by luumiasims. so far there really isn't a huge animation issue because her friends are using the same preset and other animations with adults/kids (like hugging) don't look that bad. however, i'm noticing that there are some clipping issues when trying to pose her, though. i hate how teens are the same height as adults and i really wanted to play out the preteen/early teen life stage with the girls. other than the height preset, i think i just made her eyes bigger and cheeks fuller. i think adding blush and braces also make her look younger. i try to use hairstyles and accessories that look "younger", but tbh i'm having a hard time finding clothes for her atm. here's a photo to show what the shortest height preset looks like standing next to an adult and a child. i hope this was helpful!

byeee this is so funny. i forget i never really posted the beginning parts of this save so not many know the lore of these three. oh god, i'm gonna yap for a bit. short story of their relationship is eva & kato got together in their early 20s and were going to have a son named saturn, but sadly eva had pregnancy complications and they lost the baby. unfortunately, it made things really difficult in their relationship and they decided to break up. during their time apart, eva meets judah and falls in love, but she ends up cheating on him multiple times with kato (even the night before she got married to judah ) and they literally wouldn't stay away from each other. years later after both girls were born, she confesses to judah and they take time apart. i know what you are probably thinking, how tf does this end in the big happy family we have now? eva basically made it known that kato is her soulmate and she could never really be done with him. they would have never broken up if not for the loss of their son, but she was also so in love with judah and the family they had created together. she proposed the throuple idea (lmao the audacity) and both kato and judah were veryyyy hesitant, but ultimately, they both loved her so much that they decided being with her was worth it. at first, they decided to just move in together and kept their relationships with eva separate. ngl it was such a weird and tense time in my game and they would constantly get jealous/upset with each other. i ended up using a mod allowing more than one partner and things settled down. after some time living together the guys realized they actually fw each other and they were lowkey bestiess. they have been together #challengers style a few times, but they usually tend to be romantic with eva separately. i know it's a weird situation, but now i'm happy with how things turned out. no one holds any ill feelings towards each other and all three of them just really enjoy doing life together and parenting the girls the best they can. there's soo much more to it, but i tried to keep it as short as i could lol.

hi!! it's actually really easy if you have sims4studio and a photo editing software. i use photoshop. first i find either a painting or photo frame that i like, then i export the diffuse map in s4s. i take the png file and basically paste my photos on top of whatever was in the frame (in photoshop) and then i import it back into s4s & save. if you want an in-depth tutorial i could definitely make one, but there are also a lot of great ones here on tumblr and youtube.

i think i've had this account since 2018, but i didn't start to really use it until around 2022. i was suuuuper involved in the simsta community at the time. i was always kind of intimidated by tumblr (and the people here) and didn't really know how to use it. now that just seems funny.

well, first i think i should mention that i absolutely do get bored and experience burn out. sometimes i don't touch the game for months. i feel like this is common and i know a lot of my friends experience it too, so don't feel bad about it.

not sure how great my cas advice is considering i feel like i make the same sim over and over, but one thing that helps me keep things fresh is using cc, presets, and aesthetics that i don't normally use. i find myself using the same skin details a lot and things can get boring. use that hair that you never touch, try out different aesthetics, mix and match different skin details together, utilize different sliders, pick a fun hair color, try different makeup styles!

when it comes to keeping gameplay interesting, my advice is to try not to micromanage everything. i knowww it can be difficult, especially if you have a certain storyline in your head, but i feel like if you control every little thing, it's easy to lose steam and things can get boring or unenjoyable fast. it's really fun to let your sims tell their own story and it keeps you guessing what will happen next, especially when they decide to do things you wouldn't normally choose for them. for example, when eva had her pregnancy complications it took everything in me not to cheat it away, but some of my sims wouldn't even have been born had i not let things play out. another example is when she decided to be unfaithful. it's not something i'd normally want my sims to do, but it created a whole different story that has been so interesting to play. also let your sims have flaws! not everyone is a saint. let them be mean, let them fail, and let them develop their own personalities as you play. i pay attention to their whims and choose to do the things they want. when my sims age up, i like to use the randomizer on their traits and pretend it's fate. now this isn't to say i don't have some storylines or things that i'd like them to do planned out, i just wouldn't recommend planning their entire life out all at once, you know? but this is what keeps things interesting for me, it may not be for everyone :)

as for the right time to take screenshots, it depends on your personal preference and what you want photographed. i personally take screenshots of my sims doing everything so much that i feel like a proud parent. every once in a while, i go through my screenshot folder from the beginning of my save and watch everything back like a movie :'). when it comes to actually posing my sims for a screenshot, i like to keep it to a minimum because setting everything up can sometimes take me out of gameplay mode lol. i really only pose them when i want to take photos to decorate their home or if there's a pose i really want to use to tell a story.

Darrel Shaynne Curtis:

Darry is a slow lover as I said in almost all my Darry relationship posts. He's gentle with his lover and is always attentive.

When Darry makes out with you, it's got to either be at your house or his. He will never and I mean ever make out with you when you're both in public. God forbid the gang or his brothers see you both swapping spit.

When Darry makes out with you, it's either going to be a quick and sloppy make out session followed by much needed release or a soft and sweet moment away from the rest of the gang.

His hands will find purchase on your hips and thighs. They'll trail up your back and rub at your neck while you're lip locked.

Loves it when you kiss his neck or bite his skin, it just feels nice alright? No other reasons of course.

Keith 'Two-Bit' Mathews:

He's eager. Like eager-eager. If he's making out with you, he's either riled up (think post rumble) or really in the mood.

When Two-Bit is kissing you post rumble, he's really going for it. As in you're cleaning him up and suddenly you're back is agains the wall and he's kissing you so much that you can taste the beer on his tongue.

Two-bit doesn't care where you are and what time it is. If you're at the movie, great. Give him some kisses. If you're at the Curtis house hold, awesome. Mickey's on and you're kissing each other.

His hands are not stationary. One moment they'll be on your thighs and the next they're on your arms.

Two bit adores it when you sit on his lap while you're both kissing. He loves the warmth of it all.

Dallas 'Dally' Winston:

Tongue and teeth, he's hungry and craves for you. When you make out, there is no reason at all.

Making out with Dally is nothing short of possessive. Like he doesn't care, any time or any place is fair game should one of the people he's crossed is in the area.

While Dally can be rough and raunchy, he can also be sweet and kind with it. Picture it: you're just waking up, tired and aching from the night before. Dally's got your head on his chest, blearily blinking away the morning fog. When you're both awake and still tired, he'll tilt your chin up and gently kiss you until you're either tired or drunk on the feeling of tongues tangled.

Dallas doesn't have any qualms with where he puts his hands. You could be at the drive in and his hand will be on your chest (with permission) while you're lip locked with him. Another instance of this happening is when you're at a party and he'll have you against a wall while gripping your thigh.

A little thing Dally loves (but won't admit to) is when you're rubbing his chest, whispering praises and 'I love you's to him between kisses.

Sodapop Patrick Curtis:

Sodapop is a passionate man that just makes out with you just because he can. While he can be soft, but he can be like Dallas (in some ways) if stressed enough.

Another shameless one, not quite on the level of the previous two. He's okay with making out in public to mainly stake a claim but he prefers to keep things like this out of the public eye.

Soda is always really gentle when it comes to making out with you. He would never do anything to do hurt you. So no gripping your hair or groping you too hard. He's respectful about it.

His hands will wander though, don't get him wrong. Soda's favorite places to perch his hands are your arms, shoulders, and sides.

A random thing Sodapop loves when you're making out like this is when you're both alone. Think the lights are dimmed, the rest of the gang is out of the house, both of you are on the couch.... And you just start making out, nothing sexual takes place, just an exchange of passion.

Steve Randle:

Steve is soft. Like softer than soft. He's passionate, he can be rough, but Steve loves and when he loves, he loves like a cat. This applies to making out. Like one moment it can be the softest thing ever and the next you're on his lap and his hands are gripping your ass.

He's not shameless. Like, he's okay with putting a hand around your waist or fighting for you in public should a guy hit on you, but he reserves his affection and stuff like that for the bedroom or when you're alone.

As I said, Steve can go both ways when it comes to making out with you. Some days after a really bad fight with his father, he'll come to your house and sit with you while ranting before you both start kissing and such. Other days, Steve is biting and pouring his anger into those kisses.

His hands don't wander that much, they stay either on your sides or thighs. He will only move his hands if he's worked up about something.

A random thing that Steve loves when you run your fingers through his hair while squeezing his shoulder.

Johnny Cade:

This man is shy, you're his first in everything. So when it comes to making out, you're the first one he's ever done this to so he's a bit nervous.

Johhny is not into and will not do anything in public. So that's off the table. When you're kissing and all that stuff, you're going to have to guide him through it.

He's gentle, like butterfly kisses gentle. Nothing too crazy, nothing too painful. Just gentle over all. He's able to inflict pain but he doesn't want to hurt you.

His hands will stay by his side at first. You'll have to move them to where you want them. When Johnny finally gets comfortable with you, his hand is going to be on your cheek and shoulder. He wants to feel your face.

Something that just turns Johnny into a puddle is when you tell him he's pretty and that he's the best man in the world. PRAISE JOHNNY.

Ponyboy Michael Curtis (aged up):

Ponyboy... Ponyboy is a special case. His heart is a bit guarded but he's willing to open it. Death is on his door (GET THE REFRENCE) and he's going to live with you to make up for that.

He's not going to do anything in public or at his home. He'll gladly kiss you and everything at your house, out by the tracks, or some place private. Just nothing where anyone in the gang can see.

He's a gentle kisser. All the Curtis boys are, I don't make the rules. He'll have you on his lap or vice versa and his dopey grin will surface when you both pull apart for a breath.

His hands don't really have a set place. They'll move around. Hands in yours, hips, sides, face, shoulders. They are never stationary unless you make them stay stationary.

If something were to make Ponyboy melt, it'd be knuckle kisses while he catches his breath. It makes him smile, like a genuine smile, when he feels your lips kissing his scarred knuckles. He can't explain it, he really can't.

Penny stardewvalley makes me so sad because she's SO sensitive to, like, basically everything you tell her (telling her that you can't stand children while two children are nearby is a pretty lousy move but -1500 friendship?? being a jerk to other characters' faces typically loses you about 50 points, and if you choose the option labeled "creepy" and ask Leah for a kiss in her 2 heart event she physically hits you and kicks you out of her house but that's only -100 friendship…) and so if you want to befriend her it's a whole lot of lying and tiptoeing around her feelings (2 hearts: George was right but saying that makes her feel bad. 6 hearts: her food sucks but even if you try to be polite about it she feels like a failure; only a bald-faced lie pleases her. 8 hearts: saying you don't want to be tied down with a family loses you a little bit of friendship and she's only happy if you say you want kids) and I can't help but think she's a product of her environment.
