Good news: It WILL be up tomorrow. It's 99.9% done and I'm just doing last minute polishing and editing. Staring at it all day has me feeling a bit weird behind the eyes though, and I'm not sure I'm doing words so good anymore, so I want a good night's sleep before I actually finalize and post it.

Fun fact about me: when I was a kid, like 5 or 6 years old, my older sister made me dress up in a frilly pink dress and put makeup on me, and you know how I reacted?

I fucking hated it!

She teased me about it, and the frills were itchy and the makeup felt weird on my face and I demanded she take it off immediately. I felt embarrassed and wrong and weird. Was it gender euphoria I couldn’t process? Dysphoria? Social pressure from the fact I felt like I was being judged? Who knows? The point is that I had a reaction to wearing “girl clothes” that would probably have very much indicated back then that I was NOT trans. And yet I am now.

How could that possibly work? Easy. Gender identity is malleable and shifts as you grow and change. I didn’t react like a young trans girl who didn’t know she was trans yet because…I wasn’t a young trans girl. I was, for all intents and purposes, a cis boy.

And that doesn’t make me any less of a woman now

idk the ace part was pretty gradual, it took me a while to figure out that my opinion on sex was Not The Norm and it took me turning 18/19 and realising that hookup culture doesn't gross out most people at that age and that being a virgin is somewhat frowned upon. Then i still had some doubts (hopes maybe??) but those immediately vanished after I kissed a guy for the first time and i hated it and it was disgusting, but all my friends were talking about how great and wonderful it was. so that pretty much solidified my hmmm probably ace moment.

Aro was only after I started to become active on tumbler and looking through the ace tag trying to figure out how exactly that label fit me, i stumbled upon the aro tag and read some posts others made and then compared those to my own experiences and figured that most likely im somewhere on the spectrum. figuring out i was aro was slightly more complicated, though, because i am very much sex averse, but fairly romance positive, i have just never actually felt that attraction so being in a community where at the time i saw mostly romance averse people it got me a fair deal of impostor syndrome and feeling 'not aro enough' (still kind of struggling with this tbh but its getting better)

i realized i was aro way later (after i made this post actually), after my first real break up and was kinda like.. that was NOT it???? idk my idea of romance has always been just cuddles and quality time and i realized that's not the same for other people ??? people actually have a DESIRE to kiss other people????? absolutely not.

For her, Remont had said with one of his proud smiles, as he handed her a small box. Open it when she was on the airship.

She stared at the little sphere sitting in its cushion, while cloud and wind whipped past her and the others on deck. With a grin, she picked it up between finger and thumb, and attached it to her right earlobe. If she recalled correctly, one was meant to tap it with two fingers like so…

The soft trill ringing directly in her ear didn't last too long before it was cut off.

“Salut, ma sœur. Ça va?” 

Oudine chuckled. “Tres bien. Merci pour mon cadeau.”

His voice had a rather tinny quality, but it was certainly clear enough to convey his rather self-satisfied tone. “It will work just as well in Doma, have no fear. I’ve wanted to give you one for ages now, but never got round to it.”

“So what made you decide on this occasion?”

“‘Tis your first trip abroad, alone. I thought this might provide some support.” Her brother’s voice contained his warm smile. “Don’t just work. You must see as much as you can so I can hear more of Hingashi and Doma.”

“I’ll try. Thank you, Rem; give my love to everyone.”

He laughed then. “You’ve only been away a bell! But alright, I will. Call me again when you reach Limsa.”

“À plus,” she said, letting the linkpearl go. Beside her, Eddy looked on with friendly curiosity; she smiled at her faithful lady’s maid. “I never thought I’d raise two fingers to my ear this way, just like all the adventurers do.”

Eddy grinned. “Perhaps Lord Remont thought he’d miss you, so he got you a pearl?”

Oudine laughed. “I’d rather think he wants to make sure I haven’t caused an international incident!” 

But Eddy only returned a knowing smile, and returned to marvelling at the speed at which they cut through the skies. Oudine joined her, silently and slightly more relieved that there would always be a friendly voice within reach.
