PILE 1

Temperance - The High Priestess - The Sun R - Back of the Deck: The Emperor R

Maybe because the first two cards in my deck present women, plus especially because of the High Priestess, but what comes to my mind immediately is “femininity”. This is an encouragement to lean more into what is traditionally feminine. The more I look into the cards, the clearer this message is - there’s Temperance, the card of balance, there’s the feminine High Priestess, and there’s the masculine Emperor in reverse. Temperance asks you to balance your life more. Work-life balance, logic-emotions balance, as well as how you act around people. Your spirit guides suggest trying to work together and be a team player, both Temperance and the High Priestess tell you this. The High Priestess is also an invitation to trust your intuition more, to tap more into your spirituality. Maybe your spirit guides would like to talk more to you, and they wish you would let them. With the Sun in reverse, they suggest you should have some fun, do what brings you joy, and listen to your inner child. The Emperor in reverse suggests you could have a not fully healthy relationship with your traditionally masculine traits (I want to make this clear - I always write “traditionally” for a reason, think about it as your relationship with what society expects of you, with gender stereotypes). Your spirit guides want you to reflect on how you look at your relationships with other people. Treat them as your equals, they’re neither better nor worse than you. It won’t resonate with everyone, of course, but I keep having this image of someone working an office job who is kind of bitter and so focused on one aspect of their life that they forget the little joys of life and don’t treat their coworkers/subordinates nicely. So, to sum it up, reevaluate your priorities, find some time to be alone with your own thoughts, with your hobbies, and try to treat other people equally. And give your spirit guides a call.

Temperance R - The Hierophant R - The Hanged Man R - Back of the Deck: The Fool 

It’s interesting how, just like in Pile 1, the first card is Temperance, but this time in reverse. Similarly, the message here is to reevaluate what you give attention to and balance your life, but it’s even more urgent. It’s not wise to spend too much on something or to focus on only one aspect of your life, ignoring other ones. Your spirit guides tell you to put some time into self-healing and taking care of yourself. Maybe some home spa would be good, nurturing both your body and mind. Next, the Hierophant in reverse is all about making your own path, challenging the status  quo, and not caring as much about the approval of others. Your spirit guides encourage you to find your own voice and speak your mind. Do what is right for you. The reversed Hanged Man tells you it’s time to stop living your life on autopilot and actually start doing something. Think about what you would like to do, make a plan and do it. The Fool at the back just highlights how much your spirit guides want you to embark on a new journey. Don’t be scared of new beginnings. This whole reading emphasizes how important it is to make some changes in your life, and while doing so, keep in mind what will make you happy. You, not someone else. You are the master of your own fate, nobody else can live your life for you. Your spirit guides are with you, so stop merely existing and start to live. It may be scary at first, but you’ve got it!

The Star R - The Magician - The Hermit - Back of the Deck: The Wheel of Fortune

Right off the bat, there’s a lot of gold and some brown, white and blue color-wise, which makes me feel you should take a closer look at your finances and your earthly matters, but also don’t forget about the more spiritual things. Another interesting thing is how the Magician and the Hermit have a similar pose, both with their arms raised, as if creating something out of thin air or launching an attack. Now, getting to the cards themselves, you had a harder time, huh? The Star in reverse tells me that you could start to doubt whether there is something good for you in this life, whether some higher forces are there for you - and here your spirit guides are, screaming that yes, they are here for you, they always are. So nourish yourself, remember what’s important for you and what you want to do, and do it. The Magician says that, once you get in the right mindset, you have everything needed to manifest your desires. Stop self-loathing, stop procrastinating, it’s time to do the THING. Your passion project, your art, your book, your dance. With the Hermit, your spirit guides encourage you to look inward and take some time for yourself. As I wrote at the beginning, both the Magician and the Hermit in this deck have similar poses, they both create something, and they lay here next to each other. At the same time, there’s this interesting contrast, as one is more dark and blue and kind of nocturnal, while the other is gold and bright. I think these parallels are here to tell you how important it is to both think and act, as only then will you  create what you want. Only thinking about your goal won’t take you anywhere, only acting without thinking can lead to a catastrophe. With the Wheel of Fortune, your spirit guides once again tell you that you’re not alone and everything is temporary, nothing lasts forever. You may feel hopeless right now, but “this too shall pass”.

The Moon - The Chariot R - Strength - Back of the Deck: The Hermit

This pile is all about being with you yourself. Your spirit guides encourage you to have some alone time and not act recklessly. The Moon is about your fears - your spirit guides encourage you to deal with them and stop running away. However, it’s more about healing your inner child and doing some shadow work than about dealing with them in a more physical way. Write a journal, think about therapy. There are some issues here that you need to work through. Tap more into your intuition and be patient, as you may not have the full picture right now. Next, the Chariot and Strength are both about, well, strength - but the Chariot is more about the outer strength and will, while Strength is more about the inner one. And here we have the reversed Chariot. Both of these cards together emphasize how you should work on your self-discipline and commitment. You have this kind of quiet strength for influencing and persuading without raising your voice. This kind of confidence and strength is not as visible as the loud one, but it isn���t a reason to underestimate you. The Hermit at the back yet again tells you to look into yourself and spend some time with your thoughts. Your spirit guides think you can do a lot of things once you start dealing with your fears and insecurities and realize you can be powerful in more ways than one. Your inner strength is your power.

The Christmas Truce

The Christmas Truce of 1914 occurred on the Western Front during the First World War (1914-18). On Christmas Eve soldiers in the trenches spontaneously agreed to a ceasefire. Beginning with the singing of Christmas carols, the unofficial truce developed into soldiers meeting in no man's land, exchanging gifts, and even playing football together.

The Trenches in December

WWI began in July 1914 and quickly turned into a war of attrition, with frontline troops of the French, German, Belgian, and British armies subjected to the tribulations and horrors of trench warfare. The trenches were abysmal places: constantly flooded, thick mud everywhere, the men constantly subjected to shell fire, machine guns, and the stench of war. One brief respite came at Christmas time, the traditional season of goodwill to all. Pope Benedict XV (in office 1914-1922) had called for a truce on 17 December. The German government agreed to the ceasefire proposal, but the other nations in the war did not.

It seemed, then, that the only consolation and source of festive cheer for the troops on all sides would be their Christmas parcels sent from home. For British troops alone, well over 500,000 parcels were sent to the front in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Parcels from home included food, sweets, cigarettes, pipe tobacco, items of warmer clothing like socks and gloves, small gifts, and, perhaps from the more imaginative relatives, a few simple Christmas decorations. British and British Empire troops, in addition to charity and family parcels, also received a special gift tin from Princess Mary (1897-1965), daughter of King George V (r. 1910-1936). The embossed brass tin, one for every single soldier, contained a Christmas card, photographs of the king and royal family, pipe tobacco, a packet of cigarettes, and a tinder lighter. For those who did not smoke, there was a version with sweets and a pencil case. The king's photograph carried on the reverse the following message: "With our best wishes for Christmas 1914. May God protect you and bring you home safe" while the Christmas card read "With best wishes for a happy Christmas and a victorious New Year" (Brown, 124). Likewise, Wilhelm II, German Emperor (r. 1888-1918) gave a present of a cigar case and cigars to all German soldiers at the front. Wilhelm, German Crown Prince (1882-1951), gave everyone a souvenir pipe with his portrait on it.

Trenches were brightened up using candles, Christmas cards, holly and mistletoe scavenged from nearby forests, and perhaps a small Christmas tree or suitable substitute. German troops, in particular, received thousands of Christmas trees sent from home, and many were placed on the parapets of the trenches. On 23 December, as if in tune with the sentiment of the soldiers, mother nature contributed to the festive scene by ending the dreadful period of rainy weather that had bedevilled the troops since early November. Instead, snow began to fall upon many sections of the front line. The frost that night finally hardened up the mud. Next morning, as Rifleman Bernard Brookes noted in his diary, the effect was "a Christmas card Christmas Eve" (Brown, 60).

Whatever is represented by the 10 of swords, it cut you deep, and it might have felt like you were drowning in your pain. With the page of pentacles following the 10 of swords, I can see that your blessing is you becoming and growing into a new and pure person. Someone loyal to their principles and values. Someone who, despite their pain, does not harbor resentment or hurt but instead focuses on their intentions. You are diligently working on yourself and your healing journey. Pentacle energy relates to foundational matters and earthly manifestations. It's where your subconscious meets your ego. Hi dear H. I’m good, thank you for asking. How are you? My reading seem to arrive late, maybe you got your question answered already but let me share it what I got anyways, it’s going to be interesting.

There are a lot of major arcanas in your reading, so this is going to be a really fun spread. These many majors mean that this is going to be an impactful meeting for you, and the cards have to pass on a message in regards to it.

Let’s start with your past, present and future, The Fool, the Wheel of Fortune and Temperance. Finally the Wheel is turning in your favor, the wait is over and the seed of this new beginning with MS was sown. Temperance is telling you to water it, focus your energy in building and strengthening your bond with MS. She’s looking at the Wheel of Fortune, pouring her bowl of water — and the fish inside it — in Its direction; She’s telling you that your patience will be rewarded and a new life will be joining your Fortune in divine timing.

MS’ mind is conflicted, yes, but not closed or unwilling to discuss your proposal, at the end of the day he has high hopes for your connection, too. He seems to be weighting his options at this time, and although your request was most generous, he seems to be worried about changes. He isn’t someone who likes changing his position, is he?

The Advice given to you is one of meditation, you should ponder wisely whether or not you’re willing to step back, view this scenario from afar, and still proceed to pursue your goal. Although it might seem like the best course of action to you at this moment, The Emperor and The Hermit are urging you to consider the process ahead. Since I only have one pairing, I thought the quiz would be redundant so instead...

...I pulled out my nearly 20yr old deck of tarot cards and did a couple spreads :D

Take a look below the cut to avoid a long ass post because I posted pics as proof/show the spreads. I'm a bit rusty, so forgive me if some of the interpretations are a bit off.

Pairing is Cassan and Tomáš.

Three Card Spread first

What brings you closer: Ten of Cups I take this to mean that they're brought closer together by their commitment to each other and supporting each other's interest. Ten of Cups is supposed to be, like, one of the happiest/best cards to get, so what brings them together is HAPPY.

What's pushing you apart: The Chariot [R] For Tomáš, there isn't a lot of support from his family, unfortunately. There's dispute in that they aren't sure if the 2nd in command of their clan should be courting somebody like Cassan. She has a wanted criminal for a mentor, f or one RIP. Their relationship does go through a lot of rough patches. ... A lot.

Which influences are under your control: Queen of Cups Ultimately, the two working to be good people would be what helps direct the relationship toward success rather than ruin.

Five Card Spread (found here)

Your role - What is your role in your partnership?: The Sun [R] Well. Cassan's a source of joy in the relationship. Not exactly as bright and cheery as Tomáš. Fortunately this card reversed is just less intensity rather than total opposite.

Partner's role - What is your partner's role?: Seven of Wands Brave defender. Tomáš is up against A LOT but has an advantage despite that. He is brave and he is the one willing to put a lot at risk for them. Not that Cassan isn't, but Tomáš stands to lose a lot more than her as seen with the previous spread.

Past foundation - What was the foundation of your relationship? How did you two come together? What initially united you?: Two of Swords Honestly, I forgot this card isn't as bad as it looks. It's visuals clash a bit with what it ultimately means. I take its appearance to mean blind trust. Explanations indicate it is a card of thought more than anything else. Which I'd say is accurate--the two (separately) put a lot of thought into it before ultimately pursuing each other.

Present status - What is the current state of your relationship? What dynamics are currently in place?: The Emperor [R] A lot of indecision. I'd say that's how things go for them for a good bit due to the expectations Tomáš is putting up with, but also Cassan. Her fragments aren't making it very easy for her to make a decision. Yet reversed, The Emperor still isn't that bad. There's still kindness to be had, and ultimately understanding between the two.

Looming future - Where is this relationship going? What kind of feelings / partnership can you expect to develop together?: King of Wands [R] Hahahahaaa--they're fucked.

Just kidding. One could argue they end up dealing with some insecurities together, but they, I'm the author so that means they'll get through it.

And here is the last gasp of the story. At this point, the pieces are in place; the factions, the people, the hopes and the dreams of the population and what it means to belong to this world, with its vast and impossible sin that stains the land.

There’s nothing left, but to finish the story.

Decima Vex is a custom magic set created by Talen Lee. It’s composed of 187 cards, with 71 commons, 60 uncommons, 41 rares, and 15 mythic rares. Decima Vex is a custom Magic: The Gathering set, with at least one card spoiled a day, on Cohost, Kind.Social, and the r/custommagic subreddit.

The grand tour of all the established characters anew; the Decima Vex characters escaping, the planeswalkers snapping together again as their two identities collide, and the Emperor watching as his peace is once again interrupted.

Reunite the characters you want for the final confrontation. This can include everyone including Cura, the Planeswalkers, and Jatku II – whatever choices you made about those characters’ fate is up to you.

The Emperor is invincible; something that he has done has rendered him inhumanly powerful and linked to death (possibly the billions he’s murdered and reanimated).

The link to the Ghostlands doesn’t collapse the worlds together – they try but something ‘holds them apart’ – which means that while the Volja, Gwynn, Aszyt and Verge are trying to marshall against the Empire’s borders and attack the core, the portals pulling them apart keep them distant

Kill the Emperor’s Soul, render him mortal, end the world.

Show a world in the aftermath of an empire; not that it’s immediately improved, but that improvement is possible, and that the empire is not a good thing that made the world better, but just centralised improvements where the empire wanted it.

The characters are in place; everyone is known. At this point the only remaining hint is that the Emperor’s own soul is placed in the Ghostlands, where it is willing to wait forever

The characters throughout the story are able to show up again now; each of the five planeswalkers trapped in the Ghostlands are collapsed together with their other selves.

Jatku II and Cazas II are free to use at this point; you can decide what you wanted to do with them and resolve it, showing whether they could resolve their differences, or turn against the empire.

Cura has become a full Jatku style insect lady, and she is ready to fight for the legacy of Jatku, alongside Ksen.

Now reunited the group of heroes – depending on if you have room for all of them to work together, including Cura and Jatku II and Cazas II – all quest into the Ghostlands one last time while the world streams around them into angry threads.

The Cazas Dawn unite – De Rais absolutely stonking with power because everyone that falls in the war is caught up by her – and because they have access to the real sun for the first time, they are absolutely charged.

The Volja are loving clashing with an undead army, a feeling of purpose and death all at once. They’re no longer bound to the cursed moon, so all these moon worshippers showing up when the sun starts to set become much more powerful and dangerous, but still have the same strange inability to die in the normal world.

The Aszyt see the opportunity to act, and rouse their krakens, the deep beasts and scrathes leading the charge as they start flooding the coast.

At the heart of the Ghostlands the heroes find the throne of the empire, in the remnants of Kaius’ throne room. They find there Kraivh I’s soul. They see him on this ancient throne that emphasises how many times he’s done this loop and rebuilt the world.

They confront the soul of Kraivh with what they’ve learned, with the stories they were told and what it means to them.

As the characters confront Kraivh’s soul and rebut his positions, each of the core characters have the chance to show how it isn’t a matter of his ideals being wrong but that he always expresses his ideals through control.

Kraivh IV has already had her break from the empire moment, when she worked with Finn to break the gap between worlds. She doesn’t need to confront her dad. He doesn’t deserve to have her cry over what she had to do in front of him – and he’s a manipulator. It’s entirely okay to have Kraivh IV just avoid dealing with the soul directly.

Eventually Niamh confronts her ideal of inclusion versus the problem of including a monster like the emperor. She has to grapple with the idea that she can’t save everyone, that there are people who make choices and their choices aren’t things you can save them from. How many people did the emperor kill and lie to?

Then they beat him up and kill his soul.

At this point go nuts, the rip between the worlds starts to heal and everyone gets to fight against the empire as their true final powered up moves. Spend time toppling the empire, and show people getting to finally stretch free in the name of revolution.

Then a denoument. It’ll depend on the choices you’ve made with the story pieces so far; It is important that characters are generally okay, because it’s more interesting to show how these characters have handled the changes. Plus, y’know, dying has been a thing with the whole world, like dying and restoring.

Show how the factions have handled settling back into the world, show the way the empire collapsed, and the way that the Kraivh people are coping now with a world where their necromancy is not about controlling an empire but doing the best for people.

hey, (very unprofessional) tarot reader here!

a lot of these placements r rlly good!! irene as the world, vylad as the hanged man, and lucinda as the magician rlly suit - the world is a card of completion, and the hanged man is a card of introspection, n i feel that those charas def embody those cards.

i think the most important thing to bear in mind re: tarot is that each suit (the major arcana + the four minor arcana suits) represents a story. the story of the major arcana is essentially the story of the hero's journey: the hero wakes up in the world, naive and alone (the fool), and, through trials and tribulations, they reach the end of their journey and the completion of their arc (the world).

if ur just going off vibes when deciding which character belongs to which card, i think uve mostly got it down pat. but if ur wanting to tell the story of mcd through the cards, there r some changes id make.

firstly, id move aph to the fool. more specifically, id show aph waking up on the outskirts of phoenix drop. the fool represents the beginning of the hero's journey; with aph being the hero of mcd, i think this is a good change. i think laurance, given his character arc, better fits in representing the moon (ill explain why further down pinky promise).

luci can stay as the magician if u want, but if u want to get a lil funky w it id swap vylad into this position. the magician serves as a card signalling the hero taking charge of their story and properly setting out on their journey; within a spread, it represents manifestation and taking hold of the opportunities that r presented. w vylad being the one that brings aph into mcd, this could be a change that suits (although the hanged man is also a vv good fit for him).

the high priestess is a card signalling intuition and trusting your gut. hyria is a good fit here; i'd keep her in this position. however, if u want to move hyria to the hierophant, lucinda is potentially a better fit here.

i'm still not sure on who best fits in the positions of the empress and the emperor, but i think garte is a poor fit for the emperor. the emperor is a card of masculine leadership, yes, but its a card of healthy masculinity - something that garte is not. if anything, garte fits its reversed position: oppression, excessive control, and inflexibility. garroth could maybe fit here, but i think he's better suited to a different card.

i don't think that zane, even though he's a priest, is the best fit for the hierophant. yes, the hierophant represents tradition and spiritual beliefs, which zane does embody on some level; however, i think he'd be a better fit for the devil card. hyria is potentially a better fit if u want to move her here and place luci as the high priestess, as her role in the story is one that represents what has come before and a desire to keep the status quo (aph becoming irene again). however, if u want to go full steam ahead on the hierophant representing wisdom and knowledge in general, emmalyn/kenmur could also be good fits.

dante and nicole can fit into the lovers. i think that, given that the lovers is about choices and compromises, their story (esp in s2) fits here.

the chariot is a card representing victory and the strength to keep going. zenix could fit here, but i think there are other characters who fit here better. maybe liochant or levin? im not sure - its up to u.

for strength, id slot in aaron. strength is a card about not only physical strength but also emotional and spritual strength, as well as compassion and kindness. i feel like this embodies aaron well, especially given that u could show him with a wolf here as a bit of an easter egg referencing mys.

id put dante or malachi as the hermit. dante, bc he waited fifteen years for aph to return; malachi because he waited ~900 yrs in his castle waiting to be freed. the hermit is a card of isolation and introspection, hence why dante and malachi could fit here.

i still don't know who would fit in as the wheel of fortune, to be honest. its a card about cycles and luck; any of the reincarnations could fit here. alternatively, you could move zenix here, with him sort of redeeming himself after he sacks phoenix drop in s1 by fighting in the rebellion in s3 alongside laurance.

katelyn is a good fit for justice. id keep her here.

vylad is also a good fit for the hanged man, but if u want to move him to the magician, id put jeffory here.

i don't know if shad is a good fit for death, but i also don't know who would go here to replace him. death is a card of change; it represents moving from one state to another. i personally think that shad is better placed at the tower.

as much as i think garroth is a good fit for temperance, i think zoey or kc could also be a good fit here! temperance is all about moderation and balance, and i think zoey/kc are a better fit here than having zoey at the star.

zane is the devil. the devil is a card all about manipulation and addiction - something that zane embodies in droves. id put him here with garroth and another figure (katelyn? jeffory? nicole?) in chains/as game pieces below him, showing how manipulative he is if ur wanting to stick to the imagery of the rider-waite-smith tarot, but a lot of indie decks have different depictions (if u want some indie examples, id be happy to dm u some pictures of the major arcana from my own decks).

shad and the nether fortress are a good fit for the tower. the tower is a card representing unimpeded, unavoidable destruction and chaos; as such, i dont think travis is a good fit here.

conversely, id put travis as the star. upright, the star represents renewal and finding ur purpose; reversed, it represents despair and disconnection, which both fit travis. zoey is also a good fit, but i think travis's arc in mcd better represents the star.

the moon represents fear and the subconscious, hence why i think laurance is a good fit here. he spends much of the series desperately trying to fight back his shadow knight self, and loses control of it several times. i think putting him and his shadow self here is a much better fit here than enki (although enki could fit here).

the sun is a card of unrelenting positivity and warmth. i think garroth could be a good fit here, if u want to move him from temperance! i could be a bit biased tho - ive got a bit of a soft spot for garroth, so take this with a grain of salt lol.

if u want to stick to the major arcana showing aphs journey - given that i dont see her truly stepping up to become the new irene and forging her own path instead - id mayyybe put irene here? specifically, id have judgement showing a scene from the first war of the magi. judgement is all about judgement, but also rebirth and absolution.

irene works as the world, but if u want to really hammer home the major arcana being the hero's journey, id put aph here again, but not alone this time.

You have a lot of opportunities coming your way. Being the versatile person that you are, you would do very well in any one of them. However, you have doubts about whether or not you deserve them, you don’t feel as though you have the skills necessary to complete the tasks required of you. This is because you don’t see yourself clearly, or to be more specific, you don’t see the good qualities that you have clearly. You strike me as being the kind of person who is aware of all your weaknesses, but couldn’t list five of your strengths without needing someone else’s input. What you need to realize is that these opportunities wouldn’t present themselves to you if you weren’t capable. Take time to truly evaluate your strengths and build on them.

Projecting Story Elements for Magic: the Gathering in 2022

OK, I love the Magic: the Gathering storyline which ranks near the top on my list of favorite hobbies on Tumblr.  This year brings numerous opportunities to speculate on the story elements for this year’s premier MTG sets!  So for this post I am going to speculate on: 

1.  Potential story elements of the set

2.  Specific events which may occur

3.  Planeswalkers who may appear in the set

I will go set by set, and try to incorporate as much known knowledge as possible!  I may update my thoughts as sets (and stories from released sets) become known as the year progresses.  Without further ado!

Innistrad: Crimson Vow

Technically not in 2022, but coming soon none-the-less!  We know lots about the story elements, considering Crimson Vow takes place directly after Midnight Hunt.  

Story Elements:

The first known thing about Crimson Vow is the “Biggest vampire wedding in Innistrad history!” which will unite the Voldaren and Markov bloodlines.  We also know from the story so far that night on Innistrad is overcoming day.  Humans who once turned to Avacyn for safety increasingly look to other sources for protection, including ancient magics forgotten when Sorin created Avacyn.  One Coven seeks to restore the balance, and needs the Moonsilver Key in the Celestus to perform the ritual.

We also know part of the Gatewatch: Teferi, Chandra and Kaya came to Innistrad to assist Arlinn Kord, who seeks to help restore the Day/Night balance on her home plane.  Now, while Arlinn & the Gatewatch succeed in finding the Moonsilver Key, and also succeed in starting the ritual: I do not believe the ritual passes.  I suspect Olivia Valdaren ends the ritual and blocks it based on the card: Olivia’s Midnight Ambush.  The flavor text on this card reads:

"And you were almost finished with that ritual, weren't you, darling? How very rude of me. To make it up to you, I'll send you an invitation to my wedding."

I suspect her raid ends the ritual, kills the Coven leader, and spirals us into Crimson Vow.  

Overall, this suggests that much of the plot of Crimson Vow will surround new attempts to restore the balance between Day and Night.  I suspect Sorin Markov, who fights Sigarda in a rage, will unite with the Gatewatch (and Arlinn Kord, & Sigarda) to save the plane.  How they do this is not revealed as of yet.  However, I suspect one plot detail has been spoiled for the set and thats....

Specific Events:

Edgar Markov marries Olivia Valdaren.  

Olivia is the known progenitor of the Voldaren line, as Edgar Markov is the known progenitor of the Markov line.  At first I felt Sorin would marry Olivia, but I find this unlikely as Olivia despises Sorin (and refuses to save him at the end of Eldritch Moon).  Sorin may care for the future of Innistrad but he remains hedonistic and petty; he spends the end of Episode 2 in this story line griping about how nobody sacrificed as much as he did for the plane and why should he be expected to give more?  He also treats Nahiri quite shallowly when she arrives on Innistrad to demand he help her fix Zendikar.  

More importantly, however, we also get card evidence that Edgar Markov is involved in this story, specifically: Fateful Absence.  The flavor text for this card reads:

“Sensing a plot, Sorin raced to his grandfather's resting-crypt. But someone else had gotten there first.“

The plot going like this, I suspect, for the story:

A) Our heroes (the Gatewatch, Sigarda, Arlinn) regroup after Olivia invokes eternal night by defeating the ritual.

B) They join up with Sorin Markov, who is now angry at Olivia for convincing his grandfather to marry her, and hatch a plan to stop the wedding

C) Olivia marries Edgar

D) The wedding turns into a bloody mess as the Gatewatch, Arlinn, & Sigarda all try to reverse the damage.  Sorin spends the story finding a way to get revenge.  

E) One of Edgar or Olivia survives

F) Emrakul is released and everybody dies (Just kidding)

Anyway, with all of this laid out that leaves us with potential planeswalkers.

Planeswalker Appearances:

Each set I will assume only three planeswalkers appear, with speculation for a fourth & fifth.

We already know Arlinn Kord, Teferi, & Sorin Markov will get cards; Arlinn & Teferi will not get cards in this set since they appeared in Midnight Hunt. Sorin Markov appears on the packaging, which nearly guarantees his appearance as a card in this set.

Slot 1: Sorin Markov, WB

Now, Chandra Nalaar and Kaya both appear in the story.  The next quesiton would be: do they get cards in the 2nd set since they are known to appear in the story?  It’s a tough call.  Chandra would fit in nicely since Sorin will almost certainly appear as a WB planeswalker granting a third color for balance purposes.  Kaya, on the other hands, presents two problems.  First, she shares her color identity with the story’s likely main character.  Second, she already got a card recently in Kaldheim (which is still in Standard).  I would guess she lacks a card in the set.

Slot 1: Sorin Markov, WB Slot 2: Chandra Nalaar, R

Now we’re into more speculative territory.  I highly doubt we only get two planeswalkers in the set, which leaves open a spot for a new planeswalker (likely a blue  planeswalker).  That being said, I would not be surprised if Tamiyo makes an appearance in the 3rd slot; she appeared in both previous stops in Innistrad, and two of her colors would fill out the color balancing in the set so far.

Other potential planeswalkers include the aforementioned Kaya, Tibalt (who would love to spoil a wedding), & Davirel Cane.  If I had to make a stab at a fourth walker I’d gamble and guess Davriel, with a final list of:

Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty

Story Elements:

So little is known about the new set except that the set takes place concurrently in the present, and that the set will feature both a new planeswalker, Keito, and that the current Emperor of Kamigawa is “someone we’re familiar with” which sadly does not tell us much. Let’s start by considering some known characters from the original block:

Toshiro Umezawa.  Toshi is definitely not the emperor.  First, Toshi was sent to Dominaria by the Myojin of Night’s Reach at the end of the block (and his descendent will eventually kill Nicol Bolas).  Second, he’d almost assuredly be dead by now.

Hidetsugu.  An ogre who joined with the Oni of All Consuming Chaos, he could conceivably be alive at this point, although he would not be my guess.

The Myojin of Night’s Reach.  Unlikely.  While powerful enough, ambitious enough, to try: I just do not see her being able to take the power.  She was defeated by Bolas sometime after the events of the original block, for instance.

The Sisters of Flesh & Spirit.  Better known as “That Which was Taken” and “Michiko Konda” both characters join at the end of the 3rd book.  They’re the most likely candidate to run the whole plane, the only downside is I doubt many players actually know who they are, or how they became one.

However, their union would potentially explain the futuristic nature of the plane.  If the Emperor is both spirit and flesh, then the spirit world (Kakuriyuo) & physical world (Utsushiyo) may have joined as well, giving the plane its current futuristic (dare I say: neon) appearance.

Specific Events:

I will only predict one event in this set, and that’s the appearance from Tamiyo’s story circle.  I would be shocked if this relatively well known gathering is not referenced in the set.  It would be a surprise, to say the least.

Planeswalker Appearances:

First thing’s first: Keito is confirmed for the set.  We do not know what color identity he has yet, but they did call Keito a “cyber ninja” in the video.  Ninjas are a pretty evenly split tribe between blue and black, so I will call Keito a UB planeswalker for now:

I cannot imagine them returning to Kamigawa without bringing back Tamiyo.  I know she literally is predicted to appear in Innistrad: Crimson Vow but I think predicting her here is also plausible.

Next, they also mentioned that a “mysterious planeswalker” would make an appearance in this set as well.  Now, they did not say whether this planeswalker was a new planeswalker or a returning planeswalker.  Some planeswalkers we know of who I would classify as mysterious include: Kasmina, The Raven Man, The Wanderer, Davriel Cane, Ashiok, & Aminatou.  Ashiok is currently investigating New Phyrexia and shares my predicted colors with Keito; Davriel (I think) is a strange fit on this set, and I do not see us learning about the Raven Man absent Liliana.  That leaves the Wanderer, Aminatou, or Kasmina.  We did just see Kasmina and I do suspect she plays a role in whatever arc they are building up to, but she conflicts with Keito & Tamiyo.  That leaves the Wanderer or Aminatou.  Given Mark Rosewater’s doubts about Aminatou (and her own conflicts) I predict The Wanderer.

That does leave room for a walker with red and green.  Samut fits in, but I will guess Sarkhan who originally appeared Gruul, and may visit with Narset.

Streets of New Capenna

Planeswalker Appearances:

So little is known about this new plane that I will limit myself to guessing planeswalkers.  Ob Nixilis is confirmed, and this is a wedge set, so I am predicting they finally print Nixilis as a Rakdos planeswalker.

They also confirmed this plane is “special” to Elspeth.  You do not name drop that and not include her.

OK.  As far as I know: Ajani has not reunited with Elspeth yet, which suggests to me that there is room for a reunion in this set.

Calix would be my second choice, same colors, since he is currently chasing her.  If there is one other potential walker I would guess a new walker.  I honestly do not see what other walker would fit here, especially with Nixilis taking up the BR space in this scenario.

Dominaria United

Specific Events:

If you read the first story from Midnight Hunt you know that Teferi helped Wrenn find her seventh tree to bond with, and that Wrenn offered to help Teferi repair the damage his spell phasing out Zhalfir from Dominaria did to both his home and his plane.  Given the name I predict Teferi works with Wrenn to restore Dominaria to its full state.  

I also predict that Teferi, Karn, & Ajani all work together to plan out the destruction of New Phyrexia (with an eventual showdown sometime in 2023).  

Planeswalker Appearances:

I think Dominaria United will act like a traditional core set.  So, with that being said, I think the following walkers appear:

Slot 1: Teferi, U Slot 2: Wrenn, G

As said above, I think a big part of the story line is Teferi bringing Zhalfir back to Dominaria.  That requires both Wrenn and Teferi, and since this is a core set both will get only a single color.

Slot 1: Teferi, U Slot 2: Wrenn, G Slot 3: Ajani, W

Ajani will return helping Teferi and Karn plan the destruction of New Phyrexia.  Since Ajani is base white its a good fit.  There are plenty of mono red planeswalkers but only two which make story sense.  The first is Koth, but since I doubt he leaves New Phyrexia I do not think he makes an appearance.  My guess is Jaya Ballard, a native Dominarian, will show up in the fourth spot instead.

Slot 1: Teferi, U Slot 2: Wrenn, G Slot 3: Ajani, W Slot 4: Jaya Ballard, R

The 5th spot is the one I am not sure of; if Wizards wanted to tell a largely Dominarian story they would bring back Liliana Vess, but I do not think she quite makes sense for this story as she is in hiding and as far as I know her appearance would not sit well with Teferi and Ajani (Gatewatch members).  I will toss out three possibilities: 1) Sorin Markov (guessing Teferi recruits him to protect Innistrad against an inter-planar threat), 2) Davriel Cane, or 3) Karn (and go colorless).  They could also just include Karn as a 6th walker like Core Set 2021.  For now, I will assume Karn as the 5th walker.

The Brothers War

This set does not require speculation since the story has already been told.  I would highly recommend reading the book.  The only thing I will say for certain is: Urza finally gets a real planeswalker card.
