When did high society shindigs get a monopoly over undercover missions??
bro most of the core Bats are already rich af. Idgaf about seeing then undercover if it’s in their usual surroundings. Boring!!
(Yes this includes Matches Malone and associated personas)
I want Jason Todd pretending to be a really buff sorority girl bc Steph and Cass had their own shit to deal with and someone had to do it—
I want Kathy (not Kate) Kane to pretend to be a military personnel in charge of training the new recruits.
I want her niece Betty to be one of those new recruits.
I want Tim pretending to be a nurse and screwing up so badly he ‘accidentally’ misdiagnosed someone with the clench
I WANT Damian to have to go to a specialized hippy acts school. (THINK OF THE CHARACTER DEPARTMENT WE COULD GET!!)
#do you see the vision#because the vision is beautiful#I want meaningful side characters that matter#but won’t really matter by the end of the mission#but the impact still is meaningful#ykyk?#batman#batfam#dc comics#dc robin#bruce wayne#tim drake#jason todd#red robin#crowbar victim#redhood#kathy kane#betty kane#damian wayne#damian al ghul#robin dc#caroline hill#dc redhood#dc red hood#dc red robin#batwoman#batgirl#dc batgirl#matches malone

Finally now that the comic is fully public on comicfury, I get to share it with all of you here, too <3
If you enjoyed, please consider supporting by buying a PDF of the comic on itch.io: https://tawnysoup.itch.io/home-in-the-woods
#I'd rather not clutter the caption so I'll ramble a little in the tags#HitW is short but special to me as it represents and encapsulates some hard life experiences I was going through at the time of its creatio#Ofc in a more metaphorical manner! but. I have been very much enjoying reading people's comments and speculation as its been posting#the interpretations are so meaningful and varied and i love that and really want to encourage anyone to reflect on what it means to them#for me making this comic was a way to process and move past trauma. i feel like it ends anti-climactically but i wanted to be true to#where i thought things were actually going in my life moreso than to veer towards impact. ultimately im glad i managed to finish it#and for it to finish going public right before the new year? maybe i can see this as shedding that old pain in time to become something new#so thank you for reading for supporting and for still being here. lets wake up to 2025 with wind in our sails#Home in the Woods#my art#my comics#original comic#cw guns#cw blood#cw body horror

i really don’t think it’s “typical dragon age fandom nonsense” for people to be genuinely upset about the world state choices. combat, level design, art direction, gameplay gimmicks, those have all varied across each dragon age game. the one thing that’s remained constant are nods to our previous choices.
i wasn’t expecting my HoF to come riding in on a griffon, but i can’t find a monument dedicated to warden tabris somewhere around the anderfels? lucanis couldn’t have some lines about the time that one arainai boy was stirring up trouble in antiva city? you’re gonna tell me that making a mage the new divine wouldn’t have some impact on nevarra and antiva? on the anderfels, the supposed most devout militant andrastian nation in thedas? you’re saying nobody in the north is paying attention to who rules orlais or ferelden? come on.
#dragon age#yes i’ve seen john epler’s explanation on only wanting to carry forward choices that they could ‘really do something with.’#and i understand what he’s saying and i’m curious to see how those 3 choices they brought forward will impact the story!!#but i’m still disappointed. and i think telling people why they shouldn’t be disappointed is just gonna make them More disappointed.#also don’t really appreciate dev comments like ‘careful what you wish for with cameos. it just gives us an excuse to find new and horrific#ways to kill your faves teehee 🤭🤭’ like okay???????? what???#alistair came back twice & could be fine both times. loghain’s inquisition cameo was so meaningful because who the hell expected to see him#again? leliana can straight up die in origins and yall brought her back anyways. like what are we doing out here.#also when i think of ‘typical’ nonsense for this fandom it’s people doxxing each other over fictional character opinions. or what#fictional side your fictional inquistor took in the fictional mage-templar war. or just plain old racism.#NOT ‘damn it’s fucking upsetting that this excited replay i’ve been doing of the previous games and all the recommending i’ve been doing#for new fans to play the other games before veilguard has turned out to be pretty fucking pointless.’#might as well tell someone to watch a let’s play of trespasser and that’s it.#11/26 in a hater mood so i’m turning rbs back on lol. go forth & be petty

The splendid Suns of Celestial Phenomena, my TSAMS AU over on AO3. Mind the ratings. Spoilers for the characters below.
Left: Blue Eyes (imaginatively named by a very grumpy Eclipse), a world-weary and eerily perceptive sunny-model from the "A Place Where It NEVER HAPPENED!!! in VRChat" episode. Someone (spoilers!) more kindly bestows "Bluebell" as an improved monicker later on.
Centre: the original Sunrise, love of Solar's life and brother to Nexus and Old Moon. The one who's seen it all and has perhaps more startlingly survived it all too. One of the main characters of Celestial Phenomena.
Right: Solar's Sun "Swift", rescued from Solar's home dimension and forging a new life for himself. He's weighed down by a torrent of grief and guilt, but he's doing his best - and hero worships Sunrise a bit. He owes him his life, after all.
@fairyfoxprincess-blog and @starlightstudio1987 - you might both see little elements from your wonderful fan art of Bluebell and Swift featured here, thank you so much!
#tsams celestial phenomena#sun and moon show#the sun and moon show#tsams sun#tsams au#tsams solar's sun#tsams cp blue eyes#tsams cp swift#tsams sunrise#tsams impact event#I tried really hard to make their expressions all different and meaningful#bluebell hardly ever smiles so consider this a rare gift#swift thinks the absolute world of sunrise#sunrise can't believe he's still alive to be honest#character reference

like i do not think we have to reinvent the wheel when it comes to interesting and meaningful theatrical storytelling / i am someone who is wholeheartedly and directly invested in the development and production of new theatre (as this is quite literally part of what i do for a living) and yet i can count on both hands the number of new plays i've read and/or seen this year that i would consider groundbreaking in terms of content form aesthetics politics etc. and the plays and playwrights that purport their work to be oh-so-radical and "out there" and avante-garde rarely are doing anything i find remotely novel + the plays and playwrights that have stuck with me most this years are ones created by artists who i think are invested in (not to sound hokey but) what the art itself is doing and what reactions are drawn upon viewing it and what bigger conversations can occur when we engage with this particular piece of storytelling in this moment
#because for me the purpose of radical theatre isn't simply to smash through boundaries be them formal or aesthetic or whatever it's to tell#a meaningful and impactful story that still has weight on the viewer after the lights come up and you leave the building and go home#the theatre friends i have on here who have done me the great honor of not only allowing me to read their work but trust me and my#perspective enough to give them dramaturgical feedback so excite me with their work because they imho have an approach to storytelling that#resonates with what i think theatre can do and that to me is so exciting to see but i need people to produce their work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Broke (2016): BBC Sherlock is a phenomenal piece of media and anything that seems like a flaw just hasn't been fully explored yet
Woke (2020): BBC Sherlock is an incredibly flawed series run by an egotistical writer, it never deserved the hype and is actively bad on so many fronts (especially representation)
Bespoke (2024): BBC Sherlock is flawed and bogged down by increasingly poor writing, which many fans refused to see while it was airing, leading to hugely misplaced expectations (particularly for the final series), AND it has the seeds of some compelling characterizations and portrayals, some genuinely solid performances, and touches--albeit imperfectly--on complexities that are still being discussed today (particularly as it relates to the relationship between Sherlock and John). The huge cultural impact of the show has created a massive pendulum effect in its public perception, leading to most people today remembering a caricature of the show (whether positive or negative) rather than appreciating its nuanced merits and failings...that being said Season 4 sucked
#these just sum up my personal takes at the years in question and also what i'm seeing on tumblr/other social media#bbc sherlock#sherlock holmes#and i actually have a lot more thoughts to share on this series#specifically relating to the cultural impact#there is SO much about the show that goes unappreciated in hindsight because of how public perception of it has soured#and i totally fell into this as well--i still regularly rewatch hbomberguy's video absolutely dismantling the series and he isn't wrong!!#but what i'm saying is that i think it's easy for us to look at a piece of media (especially one so massively popular) like sherlock...#with very black-and-white lenses. it wouldn't have become so popular if there wasn't something inherent in it that resonated with people#and that's being buried (and i totally forgot it) because 'sherlock is cringe and problematic. can't believe i liked that'#which again it IS full of issues and those are well-documented as they should be. future portrayals should not repeat those mistakes#BUT being able to impact so many people is a merit in itself. and that's only possible because of other genuinely good things about the show#yes the way they handled the relationship between john and sherlock was riddled with problems YES it was often queerbaiting#AND the way they portrayed that relationship had a deep effect on me. i saw a lot of myself in sherlock and the complex way he loved john#the nuanced feelings he had about john's marriage to mary. the part (in s4!) where john calls him inhuman for not feeling romantic love#there was genuine intention and care put into some parts of this show and it comes through in scenes like those. they impact people.#and because of this realization i'm going to (eventually) do a rewatch of the show. i'm much older and i want to see how i'll view it now#but i want to go into it--and i want everyone who engages with it still--to have an open mind and evaluate it for what it is#not what we expected it to be (secret episode anyone?) or what the cultural drift has turned it into (the tiktok of sherlock's mind palace)#but the messy problematic somewhat-heartfelt massively significant and ultimately meaningful piece of media it actually was#anyway that's my thoughts would love to hear y'all's perspectives#funny how after all this time making a sherlock post still feels like i'm poking a bees' nest lol please be kind!#kay can i just catch my breath for a second#kay has a party in the tags

Friede being that bridge between generations and the beloved student of Liko and Amethio's parents, to the point Liko's mother entrusts her daughter's safety to him and that Amethio's father acknowledged his work and kept his ID card long after Friede left Exceed and trusts him enough to let him know he always has a place with him..
Something something, once a student, now the mentor guiding their kids.
#breathtaking. spectacular.#friede beloved by many (me) and stealing the hearts of many (mine)#genuinely though.. he is so likeable. how trustworthy and reliable is friede for lucca (his former teacher!) to entrust liko to him#i just love how he just left such an impact on them. lucca never gave up on him and still helped him even when he was an adult#and crave never forgot him either. friede genuinely has a deep level of trust with both of them#(crave wasn't exactly his teacher the way lucca was but. he acknowledged his thesis so it feels like he is involved in academic stuff)#(probably part of the panel of those who read friede's research. and offered him work so either way in the hierarchy he was higher)#i love how friede is involved with their families. and how his path led him to liko and amethio.#even in the first ep. he stands between them. and knowing what we know now it makes their first meeting really meaningful to me#(also he has roy's grandfather's trust too. it's still not clear how he came to know him but roy's grandpa entrusted him to friede)#anyway.. friede the man that you are. carrying the themes in such a way.#something about him being raised and taught.. and now giving back to others.. namely to the kids of those who helped him#friede#character notes

#throwback to that time I was a freshly out queer kid and was congratulated multple times for not being too queer#the therapist I had to see to get my letter for hrt was happy that I was binary-trans(?) and proceeded to go on a rant about NB identities#*during a therapy session*#there are many spaces that had meaningful impacts on me and I still don't know if I was accepted there#or if I was just palatable#people will ignore your identity and call it support#there was no point to this btw#sometimes you just need to make bad art for that collection of feelings you don't have the words to fully encompass#I love seeing such visibly queer people#and hope that is one day me#my art

(anthytouga voice) why would i be compassionate to nanami ew disgusting nanami’s literally the worst nanami is a cockroach i hope she dies she’s so fucking stupid oh my god being compassionate to nanami is the worsttttttt so what if the worst things ever happen to her and it’s my fault that’s just lifeohhhhhhhhhhh oh? utena is experiencing the worst things ever and i helped? and i helped? oh well i should just kill myself. oh well i should just kill myself and save her because actually utena is Good. and stupid. but Good. unlike nanami lol nanami was born cursed to suffer haha nanami’s got that karmic punishment coming lollllll But Utena Does Not <3
#i find this ‘discrepancy’ (for want of a better word) FASCINATING#bc it’s not like anthy and touga don’t both identify with utena at times#in a manner VERY similar to their identification with nanami (‘you don’t know what i know but you feel and experience the same things’)#but with nanami. die kill maim vibes. and with utena. look at that poor kicked (noble) puppy vibes#something about utena being brought into something so obviously#when nanami has always been here. crab bucket moment idk#nanami in 32 vs utena in 39…. i think the thoughts#like why would nanami extend a hand to anthy. she wouldn’t#what’s crazy to me is she TRIES to do that w touga bc of course she does#but she realises he’s not gonna do that. and her wanting him to doesn’t outweigh her wanting to live anymore#utena reaches out to anthy bc she wants to#it’s like. nanami’s rejection of the system and in turn anthy and touga’s worldviews is that cold hard realisation one needs#perhaps more obviously touga but it impacts anthy all the same — next episode is 33!!!! hello!!!!!!!#but they still feel more or less powerless. just cogs in a machine it’s just that now they’re more aware of their own pain and others’#and touga gets left behind in this bc he’s ruined his meaningful connections with like Everyone Ever#but utena reaches out to anthy as i said before. and utena says ‘i care about you’ and it’s not for herself as much as it is for anthy#ohhhhhh i am just. i am Just#dais.txt

okay genuinely can anyone find out if the academy has beef with luca cuz why the hell did challengers/queer get snubbed like this ??? What is going onnnnn??!!??
no because it's so strange like. in general luca's movies have never been award winners which is Fine except for 2 things. 1) WHY then was call me by your name nominated??? 2) why WASN'T challengers nominated????? like i love cmbyn i loved its noms and i think it's maybe possible that it was nominated because of the james ivory tie-in? that i believe is the only award it won which makes sense and so it's entirely possible that this is what pulled it into the academy spotlight in a sense. i also have found out it's a movie a lot of people misinterpret because like. people were upset that queer wasn't 'call me by your name 2' but honestly it kind of is? if you interpret cmbyn right anyway. whatever. and i Guess for challengers it's the fact that it came out in the lull before "awards season" really starts so maybe there was more buzz around it and whatever. and look i know i'm coming from like. a "filmtwt bias" which means im a gay film nerd in my 20s but usually movies that buzzy get at least something. and zendaya is in it. but maybe only gay people in their 20s saw that movie? i don't know man i really don't know
#asks#movie tag#and of course i will always think it's insane that daniel craig didn't get a nom for queer but it's like. yeah okay so nobody saw that movi#whateverrrrrrrrrr#anyway im chill about it like back in 2018 i cared So Much but now looking at it its like.#i could count on one hand when the best picture was the actual most meaningful/impactful movie of the year in the past probably#3 decades. it's just arbitrary and that becomes more clear by the year. it possibly is actually becoming more arbitrary.#like ultimately i just want people to watch and like and engage with good movies i kinda dgaf about the oscars but like. still

why did agatha tell lilia the truth about her only being able to steal powers if she’s blasted first if her entire plan was to get them to blast her so she could steal their powers??
#agatha all along#aaa spoilers#the more i think about these episodes the more it’s just like… why?#all the components were there for a really amazing ending but it’s just not and that’s so annoying#fucking marvel#and i want to make it clear that my issue isn’t about agatha x rio#because so many people are making it just only about that and so many others are dismissing anyone else’s low opinions on the ending cause#they think they’re only upset about that as well#but like no! there were actual issues#some of them Do have to do with agatha x rio but not all or even most of them do#like episode 6 had people complaining because of agatha x rio despite how well-executed/written it was#but that’s not what’s happening this time?? (okay for some people it is but not anywhere near all of them because there were glaring issues#in these last two eps)#like I don’t think a backstory or anything was actually necessary. I think they could have kept the same amount of agatha x rio scenes and#even kept them the same length and still been able to pull off something so much more satisfying instead of what they gave us#I think that about so much of these episodes too#like they could have done so much better with what time they were given and made everything so much more impactful and meaningful but#instead soooo much of it just feels so lackluster and husk-like#like the body’s there but there’s no soul to it#which honestly is par the course for marvel but this show had done such a good job of distancing itself from them and being its own thing#that I really thought it could be more#idk. I’m just disappointed ig#txt

the idea of sam and paulina's relationship trajectory just being them spending the majority of highschool hating each other's guts and then essentially speedrunning the part where they work pass their initial biases and come to better understand the other as a person and eventually become good friends but then afterwards just remain this perpetual limbo of "do i only like her as friend or is it more than that actually?"
when they FINALLY realize their feelings for each other are indeed romantic and get around to the part where they're actually dating, the relationship only lasts up to year at most is funny and appeals to me honestly
#it's like yes their romance was a bit short lived but it was still meaningful bc of the impact they had on each other#also think the part of abt them remaining in that zone of 'are we just rlly good friends or i am i gay' is v line#w how sapphic teen girls are w each other to me atleast idk#danny phantom#snapdragon#robi rambles

why say this. do you think the testicles are critical for misogyny
#like it's just very weird to use this phrasing when talking about how men benefit from misogyny. are trans men somehow exempt from this?#like good intentions i'm sure but you're still othering trans men as not “real” men who benefit from patriarchy.#moreover what meaningful impact does gender assignment have here? man is a social class that people who are not amab can occupy

lestat being a trans ally is actually the most mind boggling part of this book so far
#twist rambles#i need a tag for this tbh. but its insane i love gabrielle so so much and the ways that he is willing to do anything to make sure shes#comfortable and affirmed is genuinely very sweet.#vc posting#<- my tag nowwww i needd to go back and tag the posts i missed later. show tag is diff but this is my whole series tag as im chugging thru#them all :)#like when i sincerely tell you that the stuff anne is doing here is more impactful to me as a trans person than what ga.iman did in sand.ma#i mean it wholeheartedly. this book (and their relationship) is not w/o flaws but its a fun read minus the horrors#making that comparison btw bc these came out around the same time. TVA being 1985 and the gam.e of yo.u arc started 1991. actually insane#that this came out before and did a more meaningful representation of caring for trans loved ones <- used loosely bc stuff w gab.rielle is#kind of wild and ambiguous but still. would i recommend this to anyone. no.
