˚。✮ Yandere! Darth Vader {Anakin Skywalker} x Apprentice Reader
˚。✮ Bad, bad news, One of us is gonna lose I'm the powder, you're the fuse, Just add some friction, You are my strange addiction
˚。✮ We've talked about Yandere! Anakin Skywalker falling for Padawan! Reader... But what about Vader falling for his acolyte/apprentice?
Tumblr media
⋆˚☆˖°⋆。° ✮˖ ࣪ ★⋆.˚
Vader isn't nurturing.
It feels almost sacrilegious to entertain the thought.
That's why it's so troubling when the galactic empire's staff take note of a smaller morbid figure trailing after the ebony monstrosity.
I can see there being many interesting scenarios in which Vader would pick an acolyte. The most heartwrenching and particularly curious case would be if his acolyte used to also be Anakin Skywalker's Padawan.
˚。✮ Imagine Vader searching for you across the galaxy. He feels your force signature reverberating inside him, calls out to it, tries to bind and morph it. A sardonic love letter he pens with rage and perplexion. Still, you always slip away. He keeps your hunt a secret, some ancient wound that's never healed right. The swing of your saber still haunts him, your satisfied grin as you land a blow on him. The force works in mysterious ways and Vader's desperation can't fully be reasoned. He's given up everything that Anakin once had. Forgone to an almost spiritual level. But you are the one pesky thing that still lingers. He likes to think that it's because he knows your true power. That you're a threat as long as you live.
˚。✮ Imagine Vader finally, finally finding you. Mesmerized by how much you've grown. You're rugged, wild. Some strange creature wearing the skin of the girl he once loved. You don't hesitate to attack, and Vader signs it off as a blessing. He needs a reason to hurt you, to drag you back kicking and screaming. He needs an excuse to push his fury between your bones and drown you in his sorrows. He needs revenge in the worst way.
˚。✮ Imagine Vader winning because of course he does. He leaves you bruised and broken, bleeding on the soft grassy ground. Your eyes are so beautiful when they're filled with terror. Your voice melodic as you scream in agony as his saber severs your leg and arm. Vengeance, Vengeance, Vengeance. You left him, left him to face Obi-wan alone, left him to be mutilated and disfigured.
˚。✮ Imagine Vader only coming to terms with who he is, and what he is as he's watching the medical droids repair your body. He can never escape Anakin, cause that's who he still is. Anakin hasn't died just grown. He's no longer the kid with a schoolboy crush on his pupil and supernovas under his tongue. He's swallowed the burning stars, let their fires and explosions paint him in shades darker than the nights on Tatooine. He runs a cybernetic hand across your head, feeling you for the first time in forever.
˚。✮ Imagine Vader training you once more. It's been months since your capture, months of brutal and tender torture. He's ripped you apart and rearranged you so meticulously. Picking favored parts to hem and sew with a buzzing red needle and dark doctrines. Only when Vader notes the red-rimmed golden shift flicker across your eyes does he know he's truly won. Your connection to the light is nearly completely severed. Your past is left to rot on the green planet. What stares back at him from the corners of the dark, damp cell is a creature forged of hate and malice. A sith in every way.
˚。✮ Imagine Vader only ever happy when he's with you. He's finally free to train you as he pleases, to touch you as he pleases, to kiss you as he pleases. He's taken you to ice worlds to bleed kyber crystals and to Mustafar to forge your new armor. He kisses you on a battlefield littered with the corpses of dead resistance soldiers. Metal clancks against metal all wretched sinister love. You're beginning to love this new master, he's everything Anakin had repressed, he's everything you have always feared. But the thing you must realize about fickle fears is that once you fall in love with them, you begin to lose yourself.
˚。✮ Imagine Pulling up Vader's mask and kissing the burns across his face. Your kisses are laced with such passion and hate he feels like he's drowning in lava once more. He's brutal in the way he handles you, each touch leaving a plethora of bruises, singing I love you. You like the way each training session starts with a deep all-consuming kiss and ends with him using the force to smash your head into the ground as you laugh and laugh. His force signature is different now, you like the way it slithers across your body, all fire and pain, all destruction. Love the pain that comes with him, this grisly bloody love affair that makes the stars shutter.
The staff of the galactic empire, Find the little midnight creature all too bizarre.
She trails after their commander with vicious playful skips and plays uno with their lives. She twirls around the galaxy's most feared as if she's playing hopscotch.
The staff of the galactic empire doesn't know whether to feel pity or terror...
Tumblr media
I think about how at the beginning of being Vader, Anakin was so quick to reject who he once was. Trying desperately to kill off any semblance of Anakin. But by the time of the Original Trilogy, he's sort of come to terms with who he is and who he once was. Anakin isn't really dead he's just grown stronger now, and in a strange way, he even seems to embrace his past as a Jedi, wearing it as - a not so obvious- badge of pride.

Antianakin's Second Anti-Anakin/Pro-Jedi Fic Rec List
Same general idea as the first one, this rec list is dedicated to fics that are critical of Anakin Skywalker. That can mean anything from just emphasizing that the Jedi's philosophies are right even if it means Anakin is wrong, to killing Anakin off in the most gruesome (and probably cathartic) way possible as a consequence for his choices. Since I know there are differing levels of feelings towards Anakin in the people that follow me, I'm going to add in some new helpful terms and redefine the categories slightly. Please note that these are MY personal interpretations of the fics, not the authors' stated intentions.
Helpful terms:
Unfinished - Any fic that is marked as incomplete, or a series where the fic(s) in it are still incomplete and cannot stand alone.
Ongoing - Any series marked as incomplete, but the fics in it are marked as complete or can stand alone as they are.
Critical - The fic critiques Anakin's philosophies and choices, but allows for more sympathy towards his character and situation should the reader desire it.
Anti - The fic specifically presents Anakin in a very negative way without any sympathy for him or his choices.
Anakin/Consequences: Anakin experiences consequences for his actions, but does not die. These fics can be anywhere between "critical" to fully "anti" depending on the author's take.
Spoiler Alert, He Doesn't Make It: Anakin experiences the specific consequence of dying. These fics will likely all fall under the definition of "anti" as opposed to just "critical."
The Galaxy Deserved Better: Focus of the story is more on characters' reactions to Anakin's choices or using other characters and their relationships to critique Anakin's choices in canon. None of these fics will be "anti" Anakin probably, since the critique of Anakin is at best a catalyst for the rest of the story.
I've had people ask me how to FIND more anti-Anakin fics, so here's my tips:
Look at your favorite authors' bookmarks. If you like something someone wrote, chances are they like reading the same stuff you do.
There's always the option of looking into tags, but I've found that very few people actually use "anti" tags on fanfiction, so your best bet is to look into pro Jedi/Jedi appreciation tags as much as possible, and the ones that are truly pro Jedi are often also critical of Anakin simply by design (if he shows up at all).
A lot of these fics take things like the Tusken massacre, Order 66, and Anakin's treatment of Padme, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, and the clones very seriously. Please take that as a warning if any of those things might be triggering, and keep an eye on the tags for all of the fics included here just in case.
There is no specific order to this. I tried to group fics from one specific author together, but other than that, I didn't place anything in any specific position for a reason.
This is not an exhaustive list of good anti-Anakin fics that exist, obviously. If your fic or your favorite fic isn't on this list, please feel free to rec it yourself in the notes, leave a reply or reblog with a link. I'm happy to read more anti-Anakin fic, especially if it's very Pro-Jedi!
One final reminder: NOTHING IN THIS LIST IS ANAKIN FRIENDLY! That means it's likely not going to be friendly to Anakin specific ships either, particularly Obikin and Anidala. If that's going to bother you to read, please just skip this entire list, it's not for you.
Anakin/Consequences
Blood-born Memories by Siderea (anti, 725):
Quinlan touches Obi-Wan's robe after his "assassination" by Rako Hardeen and ends up picking up some memories and emotions from Anakin that give him some heart-breaking revelations about Anakin's true nature.
Technically this one ends just before any real consequences and so the consequences are more implied, but I love the way Quinlan reacts to the revelations he has in this fic. Quinlan is so obviously horrified by it and heartbroken on Obi-Wan's behalf, but also strong enough as a Jedi to know what he needs to do now. He's already grieving his friend, but he has to set all of that aside to deal with this now more important issue. This fic is supremely unlikely to ever get any follow-up, but thinking about how Obi-Wan would deal with this development upon coming back from his stint undercover is delightfully angsty.
Malfunctions & Mutiny by BitterChocolateStars (anti, 6k):
Obi-Wan loses on Mustafar, but Anakin takes him prisoner and proceeds to kill Palpatine and make Padme Empress. He puts Cody in charge of guarding Obi-Wan, and one day Cody's chip breaks when Anakin tortures Obi-Wan. Cody starts working on an escape plan for everyone, Jedi and clone alike.
The nice thing about fics post Order 66 from clone perspectives is that Anakin tends to be represented as an unforgivable monster and little else. Cody's priority is saving everybody he can and getting them as far away as possible, so he's not interested in trying to understand or sympathize with Anakin when it doesn't serve his purposes. One of the things I really like in this fic is the way we see Rex and Ahsoka react to the revelation of Anakin's betrayal. Ahsoka takes it a lot better than she does in canon, but we get a nice sort-of outsider perspective of Rex struggling with believing it until he doesn't have any other choice and the way this impacts his relationship with Cody.
The Temple vs Order 66 by LauraBWrites (anti, 4k):
The Temple has become semi-sentient over the years and starts preparing to protect the Jedi in the eventuality that Anakin Skywalker fails.
The Temple itself being a character is really fun, and I quite loved the way it was almost arguing with the Force about Anakin and how to handle the growing darkness in him and the galaxy. I also really appreciated that, while Padme ultimately leaves Anakin behind, her selfish choices during the war aren't swept under the rug, either. I liked that it insists that Anakin is taken care of and not just left to rot, but that whether he gets better or not remains up to him. It doesn't matter how much therapy he's given by the Jedi, he has to choose to accept the help or it won't work.
For want of a horse, the rider was lost by LacieFuyu (critical, 19k):
Anakin doesn't get left in the dark about the Rako Hardeen mission and it goes disastrously as a result. Everyone has to live with the consequences of that choice.
This one takes place within the Rako Hardeen arc, but it does deal with the revelation of the Tusken Massacre and the Anidala marriage as well. There are a lot of truths being thrown at Anakin in this particular fic by the people around him who start to discover more of what he's done and who he truly is, most of whom choose not to sugarcoat anything for him. Several of the characters choose not to forgive Anakin for what he's done, even as some of them continue to work to help him figure out how to heal and get better. There is hope left for him at the end, but the consequences for him in this feel very real and substantial, it goes far beyond Anakin just having to live with what he's done. He loses a lot of the people he cared about, he loses certain privileges and ranks, and they leave open the possibility that he might have to face a pretty serious consequence for the Tusken Massacre from the Tuskens themselves. So while it's sympathetic, it takes Anakin's choices seriously, which I appreciate. I also liked seeing some of the ways other characters were dealing with their own pain and betrayal, the ways they were taking comfort from Jedi teachings and loved ones to heal in a more healthy way.
Spoiler Alert, He Doesn't Make It
here on the edge of silence, half afraid by Siderea (anti, 4k):
Pirate/Mer AU where Fox and the Guard work on Palpatine and Anakin's ship and Fox manages to kill Palpatine, causing Anakin to throw him overboard only for Mer!Obi-Wan to save him.
I like the development of Fox and Obi-Wan's relationship in this one, from some very understandable mistrust to attraction and the beginnings of a friendship. The glimpses we get into a wider world and a rebellion of sorts and how Obi-Wan being a merman fits into the Jedi still existing and fighting alongside the clones under Palpatine are SO tantalizing. Fox's opinion of Anakin is immensely low and Obi-Wan himself is far enough along from whatever betrayal Anakin committed in this AU that he is able to criticize Anakin's behavior and obsessions with people. Anakin never actually appears in this fic, he remains a far-away obstacle to be removed, and I love that for him.
The Galaxy Deserved Better:
Ahsoka is Mace's Padawan series by SkyeBean (ongoing, anti, 442k):
The title of the series speaks for itself for the most part, but this is an AU where Mace chooses Ahsoka to be his Padawan around a year prior to AOTC and it follows the various consequences of that change both to Ahsoka herself and to the galaxy at large. The first fic goes all the way through the end of the Clone Wars, but other fics in the series continue beyond that to at least the end of ROTJ and explore the impact of the Empire on the Jedi as they struggle to survive.
I made an entire separate post strictly about this series because it basically changed my brain chemistry for the week it took me to get through everything, and I know several other people have recc'd it in various lists, but I'm putting it here again for anyone who hasn't yet seen it because it's just that good and that worth it. This fic understands how to make Ahsoka develop and mature without making her some angel or goddess of light without flaws. It is BREATHTAKINGLY pro Jedi and especially pro Mace Windu. There's some really great exploration of Ahsoka's relationship to the clones both before and after Order 66 as well a lot of delightful diversity in her relationships to other Jedi. This fic does not pull punches with regards to Anakin, Padme, and Anidala, or the consequences of their choices. If you were disappointed in how the Ahsoka show treated her reaction to Anakin and his atrocities, this fic is the OPPOSITE of that.
After the War (Part the First) by KChan88 (critical, 7k):
Instead of Obi-Wan, Mace and Yoda choose Quinlan to be the one who goes undercover during the Rako Hardeen arc. Obi-Wan, who has been in an off and on relationship with Quinlan since they were teenagers, reacts to the loss.
This is actually incredibly positive towards Anakin, but I'm leaving it in here as "critical" because pretty much any fic that has someone else reacting to the Rako Hardeen act is sort-of critical of Anakin's canon behavior by design, and the underlying issues that ultimately lead him to darkness. Obi-Wan reacts like a Jedi should, letting go when he believes Quinlan to be dead, and understanding when he has to face Quinlan after he knows it was a lie even as he is still angry at the circumstances putting Quinlan in that position in the first place (not the JEDI, just the war and the way it's forcing the Jedi to run themselves ragged and put themselves through the wringer). That anger gets acknowledged and accepted and Obi-Wan and Quinlan are shown to have an incredibly healthy relationship with each other that's incredibly sweet.
After the War (Part the Second) by KChan88 (critical, 6k):
Quinlan manages to catch up to Obi-Wan during his confrontation with Anakin during the Obi-Wan Kenobi show and the two have a reunion after things settle down on Tatooine.
Part of the same series as the above, this one lands more sympathetic towards Anakin than positive, since it's set post Order 66 and, for obvious reasons, it's pretty hard to be positive about what Anakin's done and what he's chosen to be at this point. But it's not unsympathetic, both Obi-Wan and Quinlan remember good times with Anakin, Obi-Wan has a line about having felt some kind of light in him during that last conversation they have in the show, and Quinlan makes comparisons to Anakin sounding like a scared and lonely little boy. So the critical aspect of it is relatively soft and minimal aside from the obvious references to his betrayal. Much like the fic above, I really love the way Obi-Wan and Quinlan's relationship is represented and the dynamic they have with each other.
Meet in the Middle by BilbosMom (critical, 9k):
Baby Luke and Leia are working on some Force shenanigans to try to find a way to speak to each other through a middle ground within the Force, but have trouble getting to each other on their own and end up recruiting Rex and Obi-Wan to help them.
This one is also pretty positive about Anakin in that it talks a lot about how Luke and Leia are going to save him by reminding him of how to love and things like that. I'm leaving it in here because it is also set post Order 66 and does reckon with the impact of that, especially on Rex who is finding out this betrayal for the first time, so it's hard not to end up at least a little critical just naturally. Anakin has done some particularly heinous shit and is still DOING some heinous shit. That remains true whether he can be saved in the future or not, whether he used to know how to love selflessly or not. I particularly like the structure in this one, the way it bounces back and forth between Obi-Wan's perspective with Leia and Rex's perspective with Luke. I like the way that Luke and Leia land sort-of wiser than their years due to their stronger connection to the Force but also still very much children who get impatient and annoyed with the adults around them.
scraps series by grumpyhedgehogs (critical, 9.5k):
Cody's chip fails when Obi-Wan dies on the Death Star and he goes searching for Rex and the Rebellion. He deals with his grief and guilt along the way.
Cody isn't Anakin's biggest fan, obviously, but both he and Rex acknowledge that Anakin USED to be a better person. The focus of the story is on Cody's relationship with Obi-Wan and how, even after he's died, that relationship still helps Cody move forward from his grief and find some measure of peace. I like the way Cody, Rex, and Ahsoka all connect over the different ways Obi-Wan had meant something to them and the ways he impacted their lives.
may you inherit his light by notbecauseofvictories (critical, 2.5k):
Leia reflects on her relationship to Bail Organa and the impact of his loss in the years after ROTJ.
Leia is also not Anakin Skywalker's biggest fan and dislikes that she inherited anything from him. I appreciated that Leia never forgave him in this. Even in the moment where she claims to wish he showed up, it's so she can rage at him for being the reason she ISN'T Bail Organa's daughter instead. It's a heart-wrenching story and dive into Leia's character, the ways her life at constant war have defined her as well as her experience as an adopted child who wanted nothing more than to have something physical to connect her to the family she loved and to make them proud. Mon Mothma saying Leia reminded her of Bail about made me cry.
Thank the Gods, I'm Not Alone by BitterChocolateStars (critical, 16k):
Obi-Wan and Rex from ten years post Order 66 both get sent back in time to the Clone Wars and work together to make sure it doesn't happen a second time.
Since Obi-Wan and Rex are primarily dealing with an Anakin who HASN'T betrayed the Jedi and the clones yet (depending on whether you count his marriage to Padme and his murder of the Tuskens a betrayal of the Jedi or not), they both have to figure out how to forgive this version of him that hasn't committed the crime they're angry about yet. He's the same person who DID go down that path before, but circumstances change enough to make different choices this time around. I appreciated the acknowledgment that it's okay to choose not to forgive the version of Anakin that DID make those choices, even as they recognize that it's not fair to hold this version of Anakin accountable for things he didn't do.
Gentle Welcome by Miandraden1 (critical, 1k):
Short and soft post-Rako Hardeen one shot where Obi-Wan reflects on Anakin's reaction to his stint undercover but gains comfort from the people who understand.
I love Obi-Wan discussing his worries about Anakin with Mace, it's such a nice call back to AOTC where he was more explicitly pushing back against the Council's decisions and had less faith in Anakin, whereas here he's so clearly trying to continue to have faith in Anakin's ability to grow and learn, even as he can tell Anakin's struggling. There's no lack of acknowledgment of Anakin's continued struggles, but there is a choice to continue to believe in him. I love how sweet the clones are in how they react to the Rako Hardeen deception, in some ways this is just another Tuesday for them, but Waxer explicitly leaving Obi-Wan a little gift he knows he'll like says something slightly different and it's adorable.
The Temple of Hope series by Zarz (ongoing, critical, 93k):
Obi-Wan, Anakin, and their battalions stumble across a very old Jedi Temple that reveals certain truths about both the Jedi and the clones and changes everything.
This one is also mostly about just forcing Anakin to face his own truths and fears while everybody else gets to make their way to a happy fix-it AU as a result. One of the tags on the first fic is "anakin skywalker faces consequences" but the primary consequence is just Anakin feeling bad about what he's done more than anything else. It's overall a sweet, soft, Force-sensitive Clones!AU with a lot of pro Jedi vibes to it.
"... if you remain his student" by Peppermint_Shamrock (critical, 4k):
The Wrong Jedi arc doesn't happen which leaves Ahsoka at the Temple during Order 66 and she was never going to be enough to save or stop Anakin.
To be perfectly honest at this point, this is the ending I'd have wanted for Ahsoka. It wouldn't have been able to happen in canon given she's not in ROTS, but like... this is probably one of the most impactful ways for her story to have ended (and one of the kindest, given how shitty her character has become). I love the way this fic insists that Ahsoka isn't enough, any more than Padme or Obi-Wan were, he'd have cut her down the same he did the others, no matter what he might have felt for her once or what she believed he felt for her.
Reversi by LacieFuyu (critical, 2.5k):
Anakin and Obi-Wan's roles are reversed in the Rako Hardeen arc and Anakin is startled by everyone's reactions to his deception.
This is yet another one that is critical by comparison to canon. Even Anakin himself acknowledges by the end of the fic that he's pretty sure he wouldn't be reacting this compassionately and calmly and reasonably if their positions were reversed, something we know to be true. There's also a small moment where Anakin begins to doubt his choices regarding the Tusken Massacre, but instead of actually reflecting on it, he buries the feeling all over again and chooses to learn nothing. It's very in character for Anakin.

Star Wars Fic Recs Feat. Time Travel
I think this is my favorite Star Wars trope… maybe just because sw is a tragedy and i want the characters to be happy.. maybe because I’m a sucker for the “reveal moment”… i don’t know.
Hopefully you all enjoy these as well!
-
(All fics are Gen unless otherwise specified!)

Back From the Future: Episode VI The Clone Wars by Ariel_Sojourner
“In which Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader travel back in time together to the Clone Wars era, have amazing adventures, and save the galaxy.”
Basically, Luke and Vader time travel and take over a clone battalion to change the major battles of the war. This is. A masterpiece. It’s insane. It feels like an actual, published story when you read it. It is told in a nonlinear way, so if you’re not into that, you probably won’t enjoy this. But I promise it’s one of the greatest fanfictions I’ve ever read, and there’s a reason it’s first on this list.
(Padme/Anakin and Obi-Wan/Satine, though neither ship is a focal point of the story)
-
there but for the grace of god by wanderlove
“There’s nothing particularly remarkable about Sullust.
Well, except for Obi-Wan’s time-traveling son. But, you know. Apart from that.”
I LOVE this fic. Young Luke is sent into the clone wars, and since he’s been raised by Obi-Wan on Tatooine, everyone assumes that he’s Obi’s kid. His appearance changes everything by causing the people around him to reveal deep secrets that would otherwise have led to the fall of the Jedi.
(Padme/Anakin and referenced Obi-Wan/Satine)
-
Old Masters, New Tricks by soft_but_gremlin
“Sixteen-year-old Obi-Wan Kenobi finds himself on Lothal in the middle of the Imperial Era. He has no idea why he's here or what all these white-clad troopers are for, but after a rocky start with a little Mandalorian, he finds out that his friend Luminara is in trouble and vows to rescue her.
Sabine Wren has no idea what this other Mandalorian is doing on Lothal, but he looks just like former rebel Korkie Kryze and he's got lightsabers on his belt. He's either going to be a fierce but foolish ally, or the Empire's paying bounty hunters to track down Jedi.”
One of the few SW fics I’ve read where characters are sent FORWARD in time! This one is really great, and I reread it all the time. The heartache Obi-Wan feels when he remembers that all his friends are dead and the heartache KANAN feels when Obi-Wan does something that reminds him of the Jedi…. Amazing.
-
Free Jedi to Good Home by soft_but_gremlin
“Jango Fett expected several things from this hunt on Galidraan. Three hypothermic Jedi children stumbling into his camp was not one of those things.”
Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka (and maybe a few others, later on 👀) are sent back in time to change the outcome of the massacre at Galidraan. This one is REALLY great and I especially love the sequel (which is currently unfinished but very suspenseful and exciting)
-
The Making of Mavericks by AppoApples
“Master Obi-Wan Kenobi couldn't let her just walk out into the galaxy without a lifeline. With Commander Cody and Captain Rex at his side, Obi-Wan tries to give Ahsoka some well meant advice. But the Force was listening and decided these four souls needed to blaze a better path. With all that has happened to them, waking up twenty-five years in the past shouldn't be a big deal, right?”
Time travel with Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Rex, AND Cody! FOUR people. Crazy. The classic “Obi-Wan is sent back to his childhood to change things before Anakin ever enters the picture” fic. It greatly surpassed my expectations for a time travel fic though! One of the best for sure.
-
Legacy by myrlendi (thehistorygeek)
“Three months after the Battle of Endor, Luke Skywalker goes in search of a rumoured Jedi temple in a secluded part of the Mid Rim. He finds within the temple nothing but a strange artifact, which unexpectedly brings him much closer to the Jedi of old than he ever thought he would be.
When Luke fails to return from his mission, Leia goes after him, retracing his steps to the ancient temple — and to the past, to the time of the Clone Wars and the waning years of the Old Republic. Under suspicion by the Jedi Order, the twins struggle to find a way back to their own time while trying to keep their knowledge of the future from affecting the past.”
Okay, time travel with Luke Skywalker is great (one of my favorite things!), but time travel with Luke AND Leia??? Perfect. I love when she’s included.. it usually leads to some very interesting interactions between her and Anakin.
-
Luminous We Are by AppoApples
“Master Obi-Wan Kenobi is filled with regrets when the Padawan he chooses is assigned to Anakin. When he discovers that it was Yoda's meddling that had prevented him from being a Padawan in his own youth, the betrayal runs deep. Wondering what could have been, a trick of the Force throws him back in time, where he learns to put his trust in the Force, not the High Council.
Redemption of Qui-Gon Jinn had he not been forced to take a Padawan before he was ready, and where the Order learns to take another course that put quite a wrench in the Sith plans. Start of the Clone Wars to 44BBY AU of the Apprentice books. Cheeky Obi-Wan and Mandalorian shenanigans.”
Obi-Wan Kenobi being adopted by Mandalorians is QUITE a popular trope in this fandom for some reason… I think it’s actually a tag on Ao3 now (don’t quote me on that). Anyway, this fic is one of the few where the time traveler is unable to rely on (very much of) their knowledge from the future.
(Obi-Wan/Quinlan)
-
The Kenobi Scandal by AppoApples
“One moment they are speeding on their way to Mos Eisley, only to be hit by a Force instigated sandstorm, and the next thing Ben Kenobi knows is he wearing his old armour with the Jedi insignia and Luke can't find the droids. What's a Jedi to do when he finds himself back before the fall of the Republic? Come up with a cover story more scandalous than time travel: ‘Luke, this is Anakin Skywalker. Anakin, this is my son, Luke Kenobi.’”
Amazing! I really like when we see the potential Luke has with some formal Jedi training. And although there is a cover story for Luke’s (and Obi-Wan’s, technically) time travel, there are still some lovely emotional outbursts :)
(Obi-Wan/Satine and Luke/Ahsoka)
-
Gone Are The Days by theycallmesuperboy
“While investigating an ancient Jedi distress signal in the Outer Rim, Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles are mysteriously sent back in time to the last days of the Republic, and stranded on Naboo, meeting two people Luke could only have ever dreamed of meeting: his parents.
Only, due to Luke's "quick thinking," the two are lead to believe that Luke and Wedge are just like them: a secretly married couple, due to Luke's status as a Jedi.”
Luke gets an opportunity to really get to know his dead parents, and Wedge gets to kiss Luke. I’m a sucker for the fake dating trope lmao, and combined with time travel? Zoo wee mama!
(Luke/Wedge and Padme/Anakin)
-
Significant Brain Damage by AppoApples
“Luke Skywalker finds himself in the past as Anakin Skywalker. Obi-Wan finds himself retraining his old apprentice who has permanent amnesia while also taking on Anakin's Padawan, being a General, a Council member -during a Galactic Civil War, and fighting for a Republic he's beginning to lose faith in. Clone Wars, no paradox, no easy fix it.”
I love this one so much. Luke has to kind of pretend to be Anakin.. but everyone around him just thinks he’s had some amnesia and a major personality change. I LIVE for the “why is Anakin so much nicer now” moments.
(Padme/Sabe and Obi-Wan/Satine)
Also you may notice that this is the FOURTH fic by AppoApples on this list… I love their ideas so much.
-
May Death Find You Alive by Must_Be_Thursday
“Anakin finds himself trapped in a nightmare, reliving the same day. He tries. He tries to change things, but it always ends the same.
With a broken bond and a dead best friend.
He's not sure how many times he'll be able to watch the life leave Obi-Wan before he loses his mind.”
Let’s switch it up! Groundhog Day style time loops are always fun, and this one saves the universe! So yay! Fr though, Anakin learns to trust Obi-Wan and it changes everything.
-
The More I Live The More I See This Life is Not About Me by K_R_Closson
“After touching a mysterious artifact, Cody's general is suddenly a child with the memories to match. Cody has to coax a suspicious adolescent back to base without alerting the nearby Separatists of their presence.
Reversing his general's age an easier fix than Cody thought it would be, but he didn't factor in the possibility that Obi-Wan might not want to give up his self in order to become General Kenobi again. It'd be easier to think if he didn't have an insidious voice in his head, whispering to him to distrust the Jedi.”
This one is technically just de-aging, with Obi-Wan becoming his thirteen year old self, but I consider it similar enough to time travel to be included, and it has a lot of the same tropes. It’s very well written, and the dialogue flows excellently with the descriptions.

what is necessary (for love and war) by hellowkatey
“His fingers reach for the hilt that has become as familiar as his own after that three-day journey back from Melida/Daan. He couldn’t stand to put the boy's saber down until he reached his quarters and reality finally set in.
Obi-Wan didn’t come back with him. Once again, he is without a Padawan.
The moment cool durasteel meets his fingertips, the overwhelming presence of Obi-Wan slams into him so hard the room begins to spin. Qui-Gon sinks to the floor, saber clutched in both hands and pressed tight against his chest as though it’s actually Obi-Wan he’s hugging.
‘You have to go back.’”
This time it’s Qui-Gon who is sent forward through time, into the clone wars. The time travel in this fic doesn’t really change anything (as in, it’s not a fix-it), but it gives some great insight into Qui-Gon’s character.

Chosen One (derogatory) by annathecrow
“Asajj Ventress, the chosen savior of the galaxy. Force help us all.”
VENTRESS is the one to go back in time. Isn’t that crazy??? Isn’t that an insane premise?????? It was SO fun to read.

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back by K_R_Closson
“Ahsoka Tano told Din to bring Grogu to the Seeing Stone on Tython, and Grogu would be able to call out to other Jedi. Ahsoka Tano did not say that other Jedi might call out to him or that the pillar of blue light was actually a type of planetary transportation.
Din ends up on a planet he's never heard of with nothing but his armor and his child. A lot has changed but his mandate hasn't. He must reunite Grogu with one of his kind. But first, he has to help these ade win a civil war against the dar'buir who abandoned them.”
Din travels back to the war on Melida/Daan, where one of our favorite padawans was struggling to lead the Young to victory (hint: he’s a fan favorite who almost always ends up being adopted by Mandalorians). I really like this one! It’s less about changing the past, and more about character growth and relationships.

from this moment hangs eternity by EvanHart
“If Luke – Force, his son – was talking about slave chips, something must have gone wrong in the future.
Or, a six-year-old Luke ends up in the middle of the Clone Wars, meets his father, and changes the fate of the galaxy on the way.”
I’m a real sucker for child Luke. Gotta say. He’s ADORABLE. and moments of gut-wrenching sadness interrupted by his little sunshine smiles?? Oh my god?

Oya Manda’lor! by Cloud__Chaser
“After giving up his child to Luke Skywalker, Din Djarin has found himself without a purpose. Filling in the gaps by completing bounties for Boba Fett, Din comes across a strange artifact that leaves him stranded in time.
Who knows, maybe Din's complete lack of knowledge of the world outside of the outer rim will lead to the fall of the empire before it even begins...”
Din basically becomes the most admired person on Mandalore in the span of like. A week. after he travels back in time. It’s really funny, and something I like to read when I’m in a good mood!

Sith Lord Swell by AMournfulHowlInTheNight
“‘Well, looks like we're all Sith Lords, now. I hope you've all been practicing your most menacing laughter for our first run in with the Jedi Council.’
Ben could only sigh and raise a distasteful eyebrow at the cross shaped, red lightsaber he was given. Down the line other students were also handling their new weapons and robes with a raised eyebrow here and quizzical expression there.
‘Really, uncle?’
‘Really. I don't want to compete with the local Jedi population.’
Why did Jedi politics and time travel have to be so difficult?”
Like most Star Wars fans, I’m not a big fan of the sequels (‘somehow, Palpatine returned’ my ass), BUT! This fic, involving a young Ben Solo and old Luke Skywalker, was a lot of fun to read.
Chapters: 13/?

There is another Skywalker by WabiSabi

‘Siblings,’ Master Kenobi completes, voice faint. ‘Full-blood siblings.’
The clone nods. ‘She was estimated to be around 30-years-old, so by process of exclusion, Leia Solo would be General Skywalker’s older sister by 9 years.’”
This time, it’s just Leia who’s sent to the past! Technically Luke lives as a voice in her head, but it’s pretty much just Leia. Also, I really like the premise that the temple runs a DNA test and assumes that she’s Anakin’s sibling. It’s a lot of fun!
Chapters: 10/?

Companion of the Ancestors by Omegarose
“Ahsoka finds herself in a strange place, out of contact with Obi-Wan and alone with the twins. The Force feels like it hasn't in years, and she runs into a man who has to be an idiot for the way he's acting like a Jedi two years after Order 66.
((Dooku, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka all meet each other when they're 19 years old. With the addition of the Skywalker twins and a slightly-younger (than Ahsoka remembers him) Yoda.))”
I love Ahsoka, I love Luke and Leia, I love Obi-Wan… I love this fic. All of the secrets and reveals and drama! So much fun!
Chapters: 10/?
You’re not able to read this fic unless you have an Ao3 account, but those are easy to make. If anyone doesn’t know how to make one, I’m happy to make a post explaining the process!

That’s all, folks! 20 fics is… a lot. And there are A LOT of characters in all that… So, sorry for the exorbitant amount of tags I’ll be using here. Happy reading!

Love and Affection
Note: This is my first fluff fic on Tumblr! But feel free to make suggestions if you want!
You impatiently waited for Anakin to get back from his particularly long mission so you both could relax and enjoy each other's company. You could barely recall the last time where you both sat down cuddled, talked and became all lovey-dovey. You paced back and forth, the royal blue satin train of your dress gliding smoothly behind you as you turned and walked. "I'm sure Master Skywalker should be arriving soon, Miss." C-3PO reassured you. " Thank you." You said with an overly sweet smile as you tried to think of what could possibly be holding him up for this long. Then, you heard the door slide open and you turned to see your Padawan, in all his sweat and tired glory, smiling at you sweetly. You ran and practically jumped on him, hugging him tightly and sighing, his arms instantly wrapped around you as he hugged you back. "Ani, you're back!" You exclaimed, pulling away to look at his face. "Of course, my love. I'll always come back for you." He leaned down and pressed a tender kiss against your lips. You gazed into his eyes, content with this moment. " Do you want to cuddle or..?" You asked, and he chuckled. "A shower would be nice first. Did you make dinner already?" Anakin asked as he left the main room to go to your guys' shared bedroom, getting undressed and ready to take a quick and much needed shower. You shook your head and hurried to get something started. Minutes pass and you hear the shower turn on, knowing he got in already you place Roast Porg on the table, you waited patiently for him to get out and eat with you. Minutes turn to hours as the food gets cold in waiting for him, and knowing the mission lasted about a month, you waited without complaint, he needed this. Then, you hear the shower turn off and muffled shuffling, you heat the food up and continue waiting. Anakin is out in a few more minutes and sits in front of you, smiling warmly and lovingly at you. " How was your mission?" You ask, wanting to get a conversation going. "It was successful. Obi-Wan thought I could handle it. Going to another planet, far away." He looked at you and began eating. "How about you, how was your month?" Anakin's eyes glanced over your face curiously. "It was lonely, I missed you." You replied, looking at him as well; your eyes locked. He smiled. " What? You were afraid I died or something?" He said jokingly. "Of course not. I am no fool to how keen and aware you are." You replied, seriously. The two of you let those words hang in the air as he finished eating and you averted your eyes to look at something else. " Well... do you want to cuddle?" He suggests and you turn to look at him, smiling slightly. " Duh!" He smiles warmly and lovingly at you and stands up, completely forgetting about the dish of his. You both walk to the nearby living room couch and you sit down on it, waiting for him with a happy demeanor. He sits down next to you and you both hug, he leaves little pecks on your cheek as you warmly embrace him. You relished moments like this, when you two could just sit down and forget about everything else. "How about one of those cheesy holofilms?" Anakin asked, smirking. You nodded and you got off and practically ran to find one you both liked. It was a sort of hobby of your guys' to watch movies together, although Anakin found some really shallow or just too cheesy, he secretly liked them because he's a big romantic. You click the play button on the film and run back over to Anakin and he wraps his arms around you as the movie started.

March on the Temple pt. 1
Tumblr media
Summary: As Tech's scrolling through the holonet, he comes across his first piece of imperial propaganda, and it brings to light some very delicate news for a member of their team
On AO3
Notes: wow, my very first fic! I posted about the idea of who told Echo and/or Rex that is was the 501st who marched on the Jedi temple, and I could not get it out of my head. So I put it into words. I turned it multi part because I ended up giving a lot more background and character cues than I thought I would, so the actual conversation with Echo will be pt. 2. Italics in the body refer to a flashback. Thanks for reading and enjoy!
1.6k words
Tags: slight angst, Order 66, suggestion of younglings being killed, mention of Jedi being killed, Jedi and clone attachment, Obi Wan is mentioned, Anakin is mentioned, third persom. the batch dealing with post-order 66. This is overall a light tone with the overarching theme of finding out which battalion marched on the temple

There was a certain atmosphere that settled over a ship just before a mission. When the doors of a LAAT/i closed, covering the troopers in dim red lighting, the energy immediately turned. Conversations became hushed as tense anticipation fell over each trooper. Uncertainty of making it to the surface, let alone through the mission, taking over. Overwhelming uncertainty.
That was the only way Tech could describe the atmosphere in the Marauder right now. He gave the Kaminoans credit; their engineered adaptability was on perfect display for observation. At least, that’s all he could give credit to for his brothers seeming relatively normal as if the Republic didn’t just fall and the Jedi weren’t wiped out in the matter of hours and they weren’t now fugitives of an Empire that gained strength every minute. As if they didn’t just lose one of their own.
But Tech knew his Batch and he knew their ticks, even their newest member. Like how Wrecker couldn’t go more than 5 minutes without having to lift the GNK droid. Or Hunter flipping his knife more often than usual. Echo went quiet, to the point where it was easy for Tech to forget he was even on the ship. Arms crossed, leaning back in one of the seats in the cockpit, eyes closed. Honestly, Tech couldn’t tell if he was meditating or sleeping half the time. He didn’t know of clones meditating, but he knew that the 501st legion were particularly close with their Jedi general so it wouldn’t be surprising to him if they picked up some of his Jedi habits. Although, thinking back on it, meditating didn’t seem like General Skywalker’s style. Maybe that was an influence of General Kenobi. Echo would often joke that the 501st had two generals the same way that Commander Tano had two masters.
“You didn’t really get Skywalker without getting Kenobi,” he’d say.
“I’ll have to do more research on the Jedi and their philosophy on attachment because maybe the Jedi have a different understanding of attachment. Or at least, General Skywalker and General Kenobi certainly seemed to. Or perhaps it was that they encourage attachment? I’ll need to check on this” mused Tech as he scrolled on his datapad.
When Tech was faced with uncertainty, he took it on the same way he does everything else: knowledge and data. If he knows all of the possible outcomes, he can properly prepare himself and his brothers. So here he was, bathed in the blue of hyperspace on the way to Saleucami, scouring the holonet and some imperial records trying to understand the state of the galaxy. He knew that Order 66 came from the top. He knew the Jedi were being called traitors and were being accused of attempting to overthrow the Chancellor.
“Emperor. He’s an emperor now,” Tech corrected himself.
If Tech was being honest, it all seemed improbable to him. His limited interactions with Jedi gave him enough information to know that they were not power hungry loth wolves like they were being made out to be. It didn’t sit right with Tech, but he guessed that’s why he was sitting on the Marauder as a deserter instead of clad in all black armor right now.
There were still too many blanks for Tech’s liking though. One of the biggest mysteries was the location of General Skywalker. Every other Jedi had been reported killed in action or missing and are now wanted by the Empire, but when it came to Anakin Skywalker, it was like he was a ghost that disappeared into the stars.
As if he conjured him with his mind, Tech suddenly catches General Skywalker’s name as he glances over a holonews report. Just posted a couple hours ago, it’s the headline that Tech notices first.
“The Heroes of the Empire! The Brave Story of the March on the Temple and How the Boys in Blue Rose to the Occasion” As many brave troopers stepped up all across the galaxy to stop the scourge known as the Jedi before they were able to overtake our fragile republic, it must be recognized that the most dangerous task, confronting the Jedi at their home base, was taken up by the brave men of the 501st legion (affectionately known as the Boys in Blue across the holonet). Led by General Skywalker, the 501st marched into the temple and swiftly took ….
Tech didn’t need to read anymore. He didn’t want to read more. A sour pit he was becoming familiar with started forming in his stomach. It always happened anytime he read about the clone troopers turning on their Jedi. The thought of his brothers flipping like that always made Tech feel a little bit ill. The Bad Batch may not have had a Jedi with them, but he knew from observations and Echo’s stories that the Jedi were quickly adopted into each battalion like family. The war barely started before troopers started painting their armor in tribute to their generals. Commanders, Jedi padawan, were cared for with the same affection one would put on a younger sibling. It was an unspoken, friendly competition of who’s general was more adored, but Tech thought nose art stating “Plo’s Bros” on every LAAT/i of the 104th sealed that competition easily.
When Echo first joined the Bad Batch, he didn’t smile much which didn’t come as a surprise to anyone given his prolonged trauma on Skako Minor. Since Tech is the unofficial medic of the Batch, he worked closely on Echo’s recovery; nutrition, physical therapy, even psychological exercises Tech researched early on in the war. As his recovery progressed, Echo slowly started engaging with Tech more and more during their sessions. Tech heard stories about the 501st the most often. It was the only topic that brought a small smile to Echo’s lips, fondness oozing out of the reg.
“This one time, we were going to be in hyperspace for about 3 days going from Coruscant to the outskirts of the Outer Rim. Well, Fives gets stir crazy after just 30 minutes so …”
“This Fives seems to be the catalyst to many stories of mischief that you tell”
Echo chuckles, “Yeah well Fives’ idea of passing the time usually involved giving Rex a headache. Maker forbid Commander Tano was also bored, and she and Fives started conspiring.” A fond softness would enter Echo’s eyes, and a small smile would stay on his lips as he continued his story.
Tech never commented on it, but he’d find ways to bring up the 501st so that Echo could focus on those memories full of light rather than the dark chamber of Skako Minor. And now, here Tech was, reading that the 501st are the ones who marched on the Temple. He didn’t need to read more to know what that entailed. Everyone in the GAR knew how efficient and deadly the 501st was. He was confident that even if the temple had their best warriors there to defend it, they wouldn’t have stood a chance. That’s how good the boys in blue were. So a temple at half capacity and the majority of the population younglings? Tech suddenly felt very sick.
Turning slowly in his pilot’s seat so as not to disturb the ARC behind him, Tech rose to walk to the belly of the ship where Hunter was. He spared one quick glance at Echo, who could’ve been dead for all Tech knew with how still he was. With that thought though, Tech was quickly hit with a great sense of relief that he was looking at Echo alive in red and black armor instead of in a holonews article sporting white and blue. With how much his heart was thumping since he read the article, Tech wasn’t surprised that he was only a footstep into the belly before Hunter addressed him. The sergeant’s probably heard him for the last 5 minutes.
Not looking up from the knife, Hunter speaks, “What is it, Tech?”
“I think we have a delicate situation on our hands,” Tech responds. That got Hunter’s attention. His eyes shoot up to Tech’s, not pausing his flipping. It was so second nature to him that Tech was sure he could do it in his sleep.
Silently, Tech hands him the datapad with the article still loaded, quickly scanning the words before his eyes widen and Tech hears the knife clatter to the floor. Hunter immediately glances into the cockpit, instinct telling him to check on his newest brother.
“Does he know?” Hunter says in a hushed tone.
“Doubtful. This was posted on the holonet 2 hours ago, and we were just entering hyperspace at that time. He’s been busy running diagnostics since and recently just settled down to sleep. Or meditate. I am still not sure which one it is”
Hunter gives an amused huff as Tech focuses on his newest puzzle. But the weight of the datapad in his hand reminds him of the topic at hand. “Delicate situation” was putting it lightly. Hunter knew the regs bonded with their battalions the same the Batch bonded with each other. He thought it was bad enough seeing Crosshair in all black, sleek armor. If this were his batch he was reading about? Hunter was finding it impossible to imagine that scenario without wanting to double over.
“So, what’s the play here? We’ll be in Saleucami in a couple of hours. We could tell him then, give him the opportunity for space if he needs it,” Hunter thinks out loud.
“I do not know, but I do agree that it is best he hears it from us. It is widely accepted that sensitive news coming from a source of familiarity can lessen the unwelcome effects.”
Hunter lets loose a deep sigh. He’s been faced with tough situations before, but this. This one might be his toughest.

A/N: i love mace windu i just needed him to be a hard ass for the ✨plot✨. My brain was tempted to make this a Anakin x OC x Obi-Wan fic just so y’all know.

“You know I haven’t actually gotten to talk to you since before you left for your mission on Kessel,” Anakin’s voice didn’t startle Lyra as she had felt him approaching before he even entered the elevator that would take him up to the balcony she had decided to spend the evening on. She watched out of the corner of his eye as he leaned over the railing next to her, looking out into the busy Coruscant night sky. “And the Council just cared about what you accomplished on the mission, they didn’t actually care about how it impacted you so I just got the intel version. They just care about how it helps or hurts the Republic.”
“That’s typically how it goes,” Lyra didn’t spare Anakin a glance as she continued to watch the sky grow darker, traffic having died down significantly in the last half an hour “It’s for the future of the Republic.”
Annakin let out a small laugh and hung his head between his shoulders. “Yeah, it’s for the future of the Republic.” Lyra heard the sarcasm dripping in his voice as she finally turned to face Anakin, her hip resting against the railing she had just been leaning over. Anakin was attractive, everyone knew that, and he carried himself, at least in public, like a true Jedi, it had many fawning over him, the Republic’s future golden boy. Lyra, however, had often got to see the true Anakin when they were younger. The version of Anakin that was critical of the Jedi Order and all of its rules, of the Senate, of every body of authority really. Lyra had very quickly been going down the same path as Anakin, but Master Windu had quashed that, quickly.
Letting out a deep sigh Anakin pushed himself upright before turning to stand in nearly the same position as Lyra. His muscled arms crossed over this board chest and his hip leaning on the railing. “How are you really though, Lyra.” Lyra found herself looking the boy’s features over while she tried to formulate an answer in her head. His hair had gotten longer, but his Padawan braid still hung over his shoulder, and his jawline had begun to sharpen more. His face now contained no traces of the baby fat it still had the first time Lyra had met him; he was much more mature now, a young man really.
“Honestly?” She ran a hand through her hair that she had left down earlier, her fingers tangling in the end of her Padawan braid as they went. She felt her cheeks puff up with air as she slowly let a breath escape.
“Honestly.” Anakin relaxed his stance significantly, his eyes soft as he searched Lyra’s face for any hint of how she was feeling. He wanted to reach out to her, feel how she was feeling, like they did when they were younger, but he didn’t want to overstep any boundaries. The two rarely connected in that way anymore, it had been conditioned out of them throughout their Padawan training; although Obi-Wan tended to be more understanding of Anakin’s feelings than Mace Windu was with Lyra’s feelings.
Anakin’s eyes watched as her top teeth began to chew on her bottom lip, pulling at some of the loose pieces of skin until he saw her flinch once, retracting her teeth and puffing out a deep breath as she licked away the small amount of blood that collected where skin had just been ripped away. Neither of them were ever particularly good with their words. If the order had taught both of them one thing it was to suppress their emotions. “I’m still tired,” her shoulders slouched as she relied on the railing more for support, “and recovering, physically, mentally, kriff I’m even trying to rebuild my bond with the Force. It’s hard, Anakin. I was cut off from everything and everyone I’ve known since I was four, no warning, for two months.”
“I-” but Anakin didn’t know what to say. I’m sorry your Master cut you off from everyone you knew completely for six months and locked you in your room for nearly that entire period. I’m sorry he only let you have supervised conversations with other Padawans until you were fifteen. I’m sorry the moment he was able to, he sent you off planet for a solo mission that just distanced you from everyone even more. There weren’t the proper words for Anakin to express how he felt in the moment.
Anakin did, however, know what used to make both of them feel better after a particularly hard day. He reached into his robes and unclipped his lightsaber from his utility belt, igniting the blade immediately after. For nearly five years the only way Lyra and Anakin had been able to communicate were through their practice duels. After catching the pair leaving Lyra’s room together after The Gathering, Mace Windu immediately took Lyra on as his Padawan, and with that she was cut off from almost the entirety of the outside world. She spent the first six months of her Padawan training locked inside her living quarters, reading and meditating, deepening her connection with the force. Master Windu said she could have no distractions, even when Obi-Wan insisted it would be good for her development to interact with the other Padawans. She had no combat practice and took no classes with the other Padawans. After that six month period, she was only able to interact with other Padawans if one of their Masters were present, and thus continued until well into her fifteenth year, making it nearly impossible to truly form a friendship with anyone. It deterred her from truly being able to understand what attachment was.
Everyone knew that had been Master Windu’s intentions, cut Lyra off from everything she knew so she could truly dedicate her whole being to the Jedi way. It had been a grueling time in her life, and the intended purpose was exactly the outcome that had occurred. Lyra didn’t get close to any of the other Padawans until nearly her sixteenth birthday, and now she had just begun to build friendships.
“Want to finish what you couldn’t earlier?” A wide grin broke out on Lyra’s face as she rather skilfully tied her hair back into a messy bun in a matter of seconds. She unclipped her own lightsaber from her utility belt before igniting one of the blades.
“Both.” Anakin insisted, skilfully twisting his own lightsaber in his hand while he waited for Lyra to ignite the second blade on her’s. If Anakin was anything he was confident in his abilities, sometimes too confident Lyra had managed to discover. His signature little twist he loved to do really just embodied the word ‘cocky’, but it was rather attractive, Lyra had discovered over the years.
She hesitated, watching Anakin carefully, but he nodded in conformation. Lyra closed her eyes and sucked in a deep breath while she ignited the second blade on her lightsaber. “You don’t need to fight clean, Anakin,” she took up a defensive stance. “I- I need this right now.” Of course, Anakin already knew that. She needed a distraction, she needed someone who could help remind her who she was, what she was capable of.
Anakin lunged first, his lightsaber making contact with Lyra’s and the all too familiar sound of the blades connecting spiked the adrenaline already coursing through both of their bodies. While Lyra was strong from her years of training, Anakin was six feet and two inches of pure brute strength. Unlike many of the other well built Padawans though, Anakin didn’t rely on his strength to help him win duels, he relied on his skill and ability to connect with the force; his physical strength only enhanced those natural abilities. He was truly a force to be reckoned with, and most other Jedi knew that, which is why his pool of dueling opponents had grown rather small as not many others could keep up with him. Lyra, however, had always been at the top of the list.
Lyra skilfully turned away from Anakin managing to face his back but she wasn’t able to complete her attack, the older boy quickly blocking her swing behind his back. They continued fighting for quite some time, the only sound filling the patio being their lightsabers connecting and their heavy, ragged breathing. They both moved gracefully, almost as if they were dancing, attacks and counterattacks flowing cleanly into one another, their lightsabers simply acting as extensions of their limbs. Each move was carefully calculated, appearing nearly choreographed, any onlooker would be entranced by their dance.
Eventually though, Anakin was able to gain the upper hand, Lyra was growing tired and sloppy and he took his opportunity to truly gain the upper hand when it presented itself to him. In less than a second Anakin saw Lyra’s grip loosen on her lightsaber, enough so that he was able to swipe at one of her blades with his own when her grip was nearly non-existent. The motion sent Lyra’s weapon clattering to the floor and the girl in question tumbled back to the ground bracing her fall with both of her hands. “I made up for earlier,” Anakin’s blade hovered at Lyra’s side, nearly grazing her robes, and she let out a defeated sigh, using her Force abilities to deliver her lightsaber back to her hand, both of the blades turning off as she did so.
“Yeah,” Lyra felt her breath stutter as Anakin turned off his lightsaber, still standing above her. His arms were now crossed over this broad chest and his feet were set shoulder width apart. He embodied what a Jedi was supposed to be, and the fact that Lyra could compete with him, could best him at times, it made her truly believe at times that she was not actually weak. “You made up for earlier,” Lyra pushed herself up onto her elbows and Anakin uncrossed his arms, offering Lyra a hand to help her up.
Lyra looked at the hand that was being offered to her and hesitated momentarily, she could just reach out and grasp Anakin’s hands, it was right in front of her. Human contact of any kind had been conditioned out of Lyra for the past six years, the only time she had any hands other than her own on her body had been to patch up any injuries she couldn’t take care of herself; which tended to be few and far between. “Oh come on,” Anakin extended his hand out even further and Lyra let out a small huff, finally reaching her own hand out.
Anakin’s hand was warm so incredibly warm, Lyra wanted to jerk her own hand away, not used to human contact feeling so intimate. The hands of the medical droids were usually cold and metal, not even truly human as they patched her injuries; other than the droids the last person she had skin to skin contact with was Master Windu. Lyra had managed to slice her leg open from the top of her ankle around to the back of her knee when trying to escape a rather hostile group of Spice traders while on, what was supposed to be, an intel gathering mission in the Underworld.
Her leg had gotten caught on a jagged piece of glass while trying to follow her Master out of a broken window to escape an onslaught of blaster fire. However, in the process she had snagged herself on a broken piece of glass still attached to the window and obtained a nasty cut. Master Windu had been able to quickly patch her leg up before the pair had to continue moving, to avoid being caught.
Mace Windu’s hands had moved quick and had a mission in mind, but Anakin’s hand? His hand was warm and his touch was familiar. Even after Lyra had been pulled to a standing position their hands remained clasped together. The last time Lyra had felt Anakin’s hands he had been twelve and she had been ten, now at eighteen and sixteen the pair found themselves barely a foot apart with their hands clasped together in the small amount of space separating them. Their force signatures reached out to each other, trying to find comfort in one another after years of forced separation. Their force signatures used to have no qualms about intertwining, wrapping around one another at any chance they were given. Now though, they hesitated to mingle, both Jedi unknowingly holding back from the other.
“Anakin!” Lyra dropped his hand quickly, as if he had burnt her with only his touch, at the sound of Obi-Wan’s voice. “Ahh Lyra too, perfect!” Obi-Wan didn’t even seem to consider questioning how close together the two padawans stood, he just continued to make his way toward them R2 trialing not far behind. “You’re needed in the council chambers immediately,” Obi-Wan turned to Lyra as he spoke, his words clearly intended for her. Lyra let out a small groan knowing that meant she’d likely be sent out on another mission. Obi-Wan didn’t seem frantic, meaning it wasn’t necessarily an emergency, but it was clear that her presence was needed in front of the council as soon as possible.
“I’ll head down momentarily,” Lyra tried to keep her composure as she untied her hair from the rather messy knot she had put it in, running her fingers through it to make it appear more presentable. “I’d assume that means I’m being sent to Kessel again already.” She’d barely had time to recover from her last trip, she wasn’t quite sure how she’d fair on another two month trip away from the Temple with no one going with her. Obi-Wan didn’t respond, only offering a half-hearted smile to Lyra who began straightening her robes out.
Obi-Wan cocked his head to the side slightly as he caught Anakin’s eyes rather focused on Lyra while she adjusted her utility belt. “Anakin you are also needed in the council’s Chambers. They requested both of you.” Lyra let out a quiet sigh while she pulled on her cloak, a dark blue material that she had gotten much pushback from Mace about the first time she had it. Her Master had complained it was too colorful, it would be seen as an act of defiance by the council to wear the material. Pretending she hasn’t heard her Master, Lyra simply walked out of her chambers with the cloak on and the dark blue had become a staple color in most of her outfits.
“Sending two Padawan’s on potentially deadly missions at the same time, incredibly intelligent,” Lyra huffed as she looked toward Anakin. “You coming, Skywalker?”
“Yeah,” Anakin shook his head and cleared his throat, “yeah I am.” Obi-Wan crossed his arms over his chest while he watched his Padawan and Lyra depart the outdoor training area. R2 beeped from next to Obi-Wan and he laughed lightly, placing a hand on the droid’s head.
“Yes R2, we’re heading that way as well. I’m just thinking for a moment.” The droid let out another series of beeps. “Yes, yes they are R2.” Obi-Wan let out a small sigh as he and R2 began to head to the Council chambers themselves.
*-*-*-*
“With all due respect Master,” Lyra turned to face Master Windu, “I don’t think it’s smart to send both of us on this mission together, and that’s absolutely not me discrediting Anakin’s skills or ability to succeed.” Lyra and Anakin stood in front of the High Council, the half-moon of the most powerful Jedi suddenly becoming somewhat intimidating as she tried to make her voice heard. She’d spent the past two sessions attending council meetings, getting to know them on a more personal level, but she just felt small standing directly in front of them.
“And why would that be?” Master Kit Fisto’s voice reached Lyra’s ears and she turned to face him. “I feel that Skywalker and yourself are more than qualified to take on this mission.”
Lyra took a moment to center herself as she did not want to lash out at any of the council members, knowing it would not been seen as an appropriate use of her emotions. “Master Fisto, again with all due respect I nearly died twice while I was on Kessel last time I was there, and that was over the course of two months while my identity was incredibly well concealed. What happens this time?”
Nearly died. Anakin hadn’t been privy to the knowledge that Lyra had nearly been killed twice while she was on Kessel, “and the second time was by Jedi Knights that you yourselves sent to trey and break up the Spice ring,” Anakin tuned back into the conversation and Lyra’s voice again filled his ears. He saw that Obi-Wan was watching him carefully, giving his Padawan a small nod when they made eye contact.
“We told you that your safety could not be guaranteed on the previous mission my Padawan.” Mace Windu now spoke; Anakin felt as Lyra metaphorically dug her heels in, her force signature instantly becoming more centered and more grounded. It was a tactic that Obi-Wan had taught him to help become more centered before a fight, meaning that Lyra clearly saw this conversation as more of a fight than a conversation.
“And why wouldn’t any of you suggest informing the Jedi that you had sent to infiltrate a Spice ring that you had one of your own undercover inside!” Her voice raised significantly just within that single sentence. “If you told them who was undercover I very easily could have avoided being nearly sliced in half by a lightsaber!”
“Wise of you to control your emotions would it be. Yes?” Master Yoda now spoke up. “In the fight did we expect you not,” Yoda let out a short hum as he nodded.
Lyra looked to Obi-Wan, her eyes almost pleading for support. However, this was a decision he had been outvoted and outranked on. He had been a strong opponent of sending Lyra and Anakin, the two most powerful Padawans the temple had, on this mission together, but no matter how hard he argued to keep the two away from Kessel, other members of the council just pushed back harder. “Yourself and my Padawan leave in two days time.” It was the only response Obi-Wan was able to offer in the moment, but Lyra felt the wave of comforting energy that Obi-Wan sent her way.
“It isn’t safe! What’s Anakin’s cover going to be? Oh this is my brother, my made up diplomat father won’t realize either of us are gone don’t worry. It’s not going to work.” Anakin had never expected that Lyra of all people would speak up against the council in that manner, being so openly defiant was frowned upon and seen as disrespectful. Anakin stood in shock next to his fellow Padawan, he was unsure what he should say or if he should say anything at all.
“Anakin will pose as your lover,” Ki-Adi-Mundi spoke up, “it’s the most realistic role we could approach the situation with.” Master Ki-Adi-Munda didn’t see phased in the least by Lyra’s reaction. “You escaped the Jedi Assault to Tatooine, there you met Anakin who was working as a moisture farmer and you fell in love. He wished to return to Kessel with you to join the Spice ring to try and make a more prosperous life.”
“I’d assume your previous injury is healed?” Master Windu squinted at Lyra who had her arms crossed tightly over her chest. She felt the anger inside of her beginning to bubble over and likely knew she would be scolded by her master later, but she was in too deep with this argument to back out now.
She took in a deep breath and glanced around the half circle before speaking. “My previous injury healed as best it could given the level of medical attention I received and the speed at which it was delivered.”
“We would like to see what remains to ensure that your story and what the other Spice traders saw would properly fit what remains.” It was Obi-Wan who spoke this time. The council knew that their request to see her scars would likely be met with pushback, and having the council member she trusted the most make that request would lessen just how much push back they received. It was disgusting really.
Anakin began to feel Lyra’s force signature fill with discomfort and pure sadness, he wanted to reach out with his own and comfort her, but he knew that the council would feel it as well. Instead he opted instead to take a step closer to her and he saw her cheeks fill with air as she began to undo her utility belt. She let it clatter loudly to the floor as she shrugged off her cloak as well, the blue fabric crumbling into a ball on top of her belt.
Anakin watched as her hands shook, moving to the bottom of her tunic and the top of her pants waistband. She hadn’t fought the council on this matter, only accepted they would need to see her previous injury before making any further determinations. Standing next to Lyra, Anakin was unable to get a clear view of what remained as she separated the fabric and put a thin band of skin on display. He didn’t need to see the remains of her injury to know how gruesome it must have been. Obi-Wan’s eyes widened as she saw the exposed flesh and Anakin would have sworn he saw tears gathering in his Master’s eyes. Lyra slowly turned so that the remainder of the High Council could see her scar and Anakin found himself unable to look away from the exposed strip of skin. A dark pink and angry scar stretched from hip bone to hip bone and looked as if it never properly healed, the skin still looked sensitive and raw, like a wrong movement would tear it open again. “I hope my injuries meet your expectations,” Lyra pulled her waistband back up and tugged her tunic down, shrugging her cloak on and picking up her utility belt and slinging it over her shoulder haphazardly. “I’ll be on the launch deck in two days time.” Lyra didn’t wait to be dismissed before she turned and walked out of the High Council’s chambers with a slight twitch in her hand the door opened and closed behind her.
Anakin was left standing somewhat dumbfounded in the center of the center of High Council chambers. “Trust you we do, Young Skywalker.” Master Yoda gave Anakin a small nod. “Successful you will be.” Anakin swallowed and nodded once.
“Thank you, Master Yoda.” He wanted to speak up and say something on Lyra’s behalf but he wasn’t quite sure what to say. He knew that he and Lyra were expected to begin completing the trials soon, but the pushback Lyra was giving them likely meant that the council may reevaluate her ability to complete the trials and her ability to control her emotions.
“You are dismissed, Skywalker,” Master Windu let out a deep sigh as he let Anakin know he was free to go. “May the force be with you.”
“May the force be with you as well Masters.” As soon as Anakin exited the High Council’s chambers he reached out to try and find Lyra’s force signature. However, she was blocking him out and she was doing a damn good job at it. Anakin found his feet leading him back to where he and Lyra had dueled before Obi-Wan had found them and told the pair that they were needed in the counsel chambers. No one often left the temple at night, most Jedi took the evenings to meditate and unwind and very few used the evenings for anything except that.
“Ani, I really don’t want to talk about it.” Lyra spoke into the chilly night air once she felt Anakin reach the space. She leaned over the railing again, both her arms hanging freely and her head rested on the cool metal. Anakin could tell she was distressed, embarrassed, angry, she rather thoroughly felt nearly every emotion that could be considered negative. Her robes had been straightened out and her utility belt sat clipped around her waist, it seemed like she never even had shown the council what remained of her old injury.
Anakin, as he had earlier that evening, approached the railing to the balcony and rested his forearms on the metal, hanging his head between his shoulders while he let the silence linger between them. “I don’t need you to talk about it, but it would be nice to know what I’m getting myself into.” He heard Lyra release a deep sigh as she let her head rest on the railing for a few more moments before standing up straighter.
“If I’m talking about this we’re going to the Cantina,” Lyra pushed away from the railing and began to walk towards the entrance back into the Temple, “you coming or what, Skywalker?”
“But we, I can’t-” Anakin stumbled over his words.
Lyra laughed lightly before looking over her shoulder at Anakin. “I’m emotionally unstable and they’re practically sending us on a suicide mission in two days,” Lyra cocked her head slightly to the side, “I promise no one is going to stop us form leaving the Temple tonight. If it would make you feel better I can ask Obi-Wan if he’d like to accompany us.”
“You can- Obi-Wan?” Anakin thought about his Master accompanying both of them on an unapproved trip to the cantina most likely in the underworld, and it didn’t sound all that logical.
“Yeah,” Lyra let a small smile stretch across his lips, “Obi-Wan and I sneak out to the cantina fairly often.” She saw Anakin’s face fall as he realized his own Master had never asked him to accompany them to the cantina. “It’s never something that you’d want to go with us for, emotions we shouldn’t be experiencing that we try to drink away, and all that,” she dismissively waved her hand and grabbed her comlink out of the pocket of her robes.
Obi-Wan’s hologram appears a second later, clearly inside his chambers, likely trying to decompress after the rather stressful counsel meeting. “Ahh Master Kenobi!” Lyra spoke as she walked to Anakin’s side. “I was just about to fill Anakin in on my last mission to Kessel at Moshi if you’d like to meet us there.” Anakin watched as Obi-Wan lifted his head from where he had been taking off his boots.
“I can meet the two of you there in about,” he paused for a moment, clearly thinking, “thirty. I’d rather not leave the temple as a group. That would likely draw too much attention.”
“You’ve got it, Master!” Lyra’s smile grew into more of a smirk as the comlink call ended, “you ready for this one Skywalker? Because I’m not sure if you are.”
*-*-*-*
Walking into Moshi Lyra pulled her hood down and Anakin followed not far behind, the bar seemed somewhat crowded and most of the tables were taken. Lyra nodded towards an empty booth and Anakin took that as his sign to claim the table as Lyra approached the bar. “My favorite Jedi!” Tiggs Leo greeted Lyra at the bar, still mixing drinks as he spoke to her, “no tab for you tonight!” He slid three drinks down the bar to waiting patrons. “You came with a new Jedi, is Obi-Wan not joining you?”
Lyra found her eyes skimming over the bottles of alcohol behind Tiggs as he spoke. “That’s Anakin, Obi-Wan’s Padawan,” she elaborated, “Obi-Wan will be joining us shortly.”
“Ahh! Excellent! What can I get started for you then?” Tiggs put down the bottles he had been holding previously and directed his attention towards Lyra. She glanced over her shoulder to see Anakin looking around the space rather uncomfortably.
Tapping her finger on the bar counter Lyra thought about what Anakin may like; she was unsure if he’d ever been to a catania before. He looked rather surprised when she had mentioned it earlier, but he was older than her and Obi-Wan, of all people, was his Master for Kriff’s sake. “A blumfruit cooler, cassandran brandy and a courkrus lomin.” Tiggs was making the drinks before Lyra even had the chance to finish ordering.
“I hope whatever you ordered me isn’t a surprise.” Obi-Wan must have arrived while she had been ordering drinks. He had changed into more casual robes than he had been in at the council meeting and his cloak had been shrugged off and crumpled next to him in the booth. Following suit, Lyra shrugged off her own cloak and slid into the booth next to Anakin.
“A cassandran brandy for the Jedi Master,” Tiggs approached the booth and slid Obi-Wan his drink. He gratefully accepted the glass and took a small sip as soon as he received it. “A blumfruit cooler for my favorte Jedi customer, and I would assume the courkrus lomin is for the newcomer,” Tiggs set the final glass in front of Anakin. “As soon as you’re ready for another round just let me know the order!”
As Tiggs slinked back behind the bar Lyra switched her glass and Anakin’s. “You’ll like it,” she offered him the glass, picking up her own and drinking nearly half of it on the first sip. “Tiggs is adding our tab to the senate’s again,” Lyra smirked at Obi-Wan over the rim of her glass.
Obi-Wan tilted her glass towards Lyra and Anakin, “I’ll drink to that.” He lifted his own class and took a slow sip. “And I’ll drink to that kriffing Council meeting being over.” Obi-Wan quickly knocked back the remainder of his first drink and Tiggs almost immediately brought over another one. “For the record, sending both of you, either of you, to Kessel was not my idea. I was just outvoted on the issue.”
“I guessed,” Lyra finished her own first drink and pushed it towards the end of the table, indicating that she too was ready for a second. “I’m here to fill Ani in though on my last mission to Kessel, figured it might be umm, helpful insight.” Lyra and Obi-Wan hadn’t included Anakin in on the conversation yet and he was beginning to feel rather left out.
“Oh you need to finish the rest of your drink for this one, Anakin.” Obi-Wan addressed his Padawan, “and then maybe another one or two after that.”

Funny OT AU fic idea I just had:
Rex figures out that Luke and Leia are Anakin’s children very quickly after the first Death Star is blown to bits.
He uses the following details to support his determination:
Luke’s last name is Skywalker. He has Anakin’s lightsaber. He can wield the Force. (Luke is the easy one to figure out.)
R2-D2 is particularly protective of both Luke and Leia.
Only one other person ever achieved the combination of stubborn forthrightness, boldness, and (almost reckless) unconventional leadership that Leia possesses.
It takes about ten seconds into one mission planning session with Leia for Rex to flash back to 501st shenanigans and crazy Jedi General schemes.
Absolutely no dead Jedi can come back as a Force Ghost fast enough to stop Rex from immediately adopting Luke and Leia and telling them all about the stupid shit that Anakin got away with during the Clone Wars.
And then Ahsoka finds them. She verifies Rex’s claims and then proceeds to go, “OMG, I’m your Aunt Snips. Neither the Jedi Council nor Master SkyGuy can’t stop me from looking after you now! We’re going to get into so much trouble together.”
Vader’s reveal to Luke on Bespin becomes even more hilarious. Vader expected many reactions — except the one he got. Luke has heard all of the tea and knows all the embarrassing stuff that Anakin did in front of the 501st and Ahsoka. Vader was not prepared to get ribbed as hard as he did as Luke buys time for a rescue from Leia and Rex.
And Han gets trolled hard as soon as Rex figures out that he’s into Leia. (Someone has to make Han’s life hard when he’s trying to pursue Leia romantically. Bail and Anakin aren’t there to do it, so Rex and Ahsoka have to team-up.)
Also, it makes Luke and Leia finding out they’re twins extra funny. It isn’t some big reveal by Obi-Wan as a part of explaining destiny and a greater purpose. Nah, it was a clone with a finely-tuned “Skywalker is about to do something crazy, reckless, bold, and possibly stupid” sense who told them.

Ko-Fi prompt from Uncharted_Constellations:
I don't know enough about econ to ask about econ, but maybe a tip on how to actually start writing a story instead of just over-planning it? love your stuff!
So, I've been putting this one off for... significantly longer than I should have, because it's so much more subjective, and because I've been having so much trouble with my writing recently.
But let's give it a go.
Write some bullshit to start with. Frequently, I don't start with a real 'hook' of a sentence. I start with nonsense that could go anywhere, just to get something down on the page. "This is how it starts" or "[character] is [X], but not [Y]" does a lot of legwork for me. If I kick off with a basic opening that guides me to define the setting or problem in a prose manner before I start engaging in actual narrative, it lets me get the ball rolling with getting any words down at all. Often, it's enough to put me in the right mental space in terms of tone and style. Sometimes, repetition or parallels get you rolling. Whether you keep this section or not is up to you, as you can come back to it to fill it out later, but I find that writing something down is more effective for me than just skipping to a scene I want to write more. - Big Damn Kiss is an example of a fic where I kept this opening structure, by setting character ages and inciting incident in mirrored phrasing - Rex and Anakin Raise a Family is one where I use "the beginning of the end is this" four times in sequence to establish the premise - Imperial Consort Rex Skywalker shortens that process further, by using a numbered, step-by-step format to skip to the 'good part.' - Fake Spontaneous Training Bond is the three POVs of the first chapter, each established with a short paragraph headed by "it starts like this"
Alternately, I get a lot of mileage out of "When [character] [verb and setting, possibly age], they [action, emotion, or reaction to premise]." In fanfiction, you can usually use a character's age or location to shorthand a lot of information that lets the reader settle in quickly. if I start with "When Ahsoka is nineteen, she falls into the past," the reader immediately knows the main character, her age, what work she was doing, how much trauma she's been through, who she cares about, and what the premise is. If you're lucky, that's all you need to start, and you can always come back and change it later.
The next option for starting a fic I'm having trouble with is in media res. You can just... skip the setup. You might have to go back and add it in later, but it's frequently superfluous. You probably aren't writing television for twelve-year-olds, so you don't need to have missions assigned and explained on screen. Unless you're writing a fic that focuses heavily on politics and the ramifications of military actions, which TCW actually was, in a way meant for children... you can just start already there. Sometimes I try to pump myself up to write establishing facts and setting and Why The Characters Do This, and then I realize I don't need to. Why are Anakin and Obi-Wan exploring a Sith Temple? Because that's the shit that happens to them. Don't need an opening scene where they meet with the Council, have the mission assigned, and ask for details. You just open with someone hacking away at the foliage to get at a door and drop a line about how they aren't seeing signs of Ventress or something to handwave why they were sent here.
Get yourself a cheerleader. I have a few friends (these days, usually @firebirdeternal, @atagotiak, and @jebiknights) that I send things to as I go. I generally screenshot to send (none of them have particularly severe visual impairments, so it's easier on me in regards to maintaining formatting; discord eats italics), so the chunks are a few hundred words at a time. They do some beta-ing, too, but it's mostly just me going "is this still good?" and mostly getting 'Heck yeah, I like [X]" about individual bits.
This is a bit mean, but find a story with similar tropes and characters (not hyper-specifically, but if you're writing an Obi-Wan time-travel fic, there are tons to look at)... which is not your style at all. With a ship you hate or a characterization you disagree with or a plot progression you find illogical. Find something that gets your back up so you are fueled by the spite of "I could do this better." I don't actually do this on purpose, but the sheer fury of "She would not fucking do that" has propelled me through many a one-shot.
Playlists can help, depending on the fic and how you personally respond to music as a driving force. If you find the right song/album, you can railroad your brain into thinking about a premise or scene so hard that you have to get it out of your head to stop going over the same three moments from occupying your mental replay button.
I can't help with 'how do I finish' though. I only have like... two complete fics over 100k.
(Prompt me on ko-fi!)

7 and 21 for the character asks... for Anakin 😁
Hello there! Ok, so I'm particularly glad it was you who asked that first question for the ask game 😁hehe
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
When it comes to Anakin Skywalker, some people in the fandom, I'm not saying it's me, (okay, I'm the worst offender), some people color him blameless. . . like pretend he's done NOTHING wrong EVER in his life! And then others are like, "What about all the murders??" And then we're like, "Murders?? Psshh. What murders??" 😆 He’s the best guy around!
21. If you're a fic writer and have written for this character, what's your favorite thing to do when you're writing for this character? What's something you don't like?
Something I like to do with Anakin's character in writing fic is make him cry 🫢🫣 I'm just being honest! But I like to make him cry over remorse mostly. . . because maybe he's not as blameless as I like to pretend. . . MAYBE. After a good, and utterly beautiful cry, I like him to be pampered and loved on and hugged on 🥰 because hurt/comfort is the greatest ever 🙌🏻 And I do like it when he does the comforting (and hugging and kissing) as well 💗 As long as someone's getting comforted!
Something I don't like to write is true Sith Anakin. . . it's just so unrealistic to me (flips hair). I mean, he would NEVER! Okay, he would, but I can't bring myself to write it 😭 I just always want him to be a good boy. Because he is!
Thank you so much for the ask!! This was fun 😊❤️

Stars Fading
Cody x Oc
Summary: A war erupts between the Jedi and Separatists, but you already know that story. This is the story of love blooming in a time of chaos, pain, and disorder.
What will become of our heroes? Who will win? Who will survive?
Ao3 link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/49394683/chapters/124650316
Due to trigger warnings related to PTSD, blood, war, and the inclusion of other mature themes as well, I will be posting all of my Clone War Auxiliary fics under the cut as I move them over. I’m moving this one over first because I really hope @starstofillmydream can read it easier this way 💚 she’s been very helpful in the characterization of our beloved Commander. Each fic has a song or lyric for the title, this one is a cover of Dream a Little Dream of Me by Kina Grannis.
Chapter 1: Sunshine
There was a reverent beauty in the setting sun and all that it touched, the skies bursting with pinks and oranges. The peachy color illuminated the part of the hanger where Kyra usually worked on broken or damaged fighter ships. She usually had her black hair pulled back, splotches of ink or oil on her face and the GAR issued mechanic suit.
Always disheveled, always covered in a dark liquid to some varying degree, and yet a certain Commander always found his heart beating a little more loudly as he watched her work. She had no idea he was there, talking to another one of the techs. She was looking up, focused on a wing that took damage. Her googles were on, hair in a messy bun today.
He recognized the other tech to actually be the weapons expert, Isla. She smiled slightly at him, now trying to discreetly get Kyra’s attention but failing.
“I’m just glad it was Kenobi instead of Skywalker. Anakin treats my ships like they’re bantha fodder, made for explosion only. I’ve asked Rory to have a chat with him, I don’t think she does or he doesn’t care when she does.” She said, scanning the wing with the data pad to fully assess damages.
Isla opened her mouth but shut it when Kyra kept going. Cody looked a little amused now.
“I’m tired of these Jedi thinking our resources are expendable, easy to come by. The senate pays the bill for it, sure, but what of it when they don’t or won’t anymore?”
“Do you have something against the Jedi? I might be able to launch a more formal complaint.” Cody said
Kyra almost hit her head, pulling away from the wing now.
“Hello commander.”
Kyra was just a hair shorter than him, able to basically look him in the eyes as she crossed her arms over her chest. She rested the googles around her neck now, beautiful brown eyes on him.
“I apologize if it sounds that way, about the Jedi. I’m fond of the generals, just frustrated. My people have a very intricate and annoying relationship with them too, it doesn’t help their case.” Kyra admitted with a sigh
“Where are you from?” Cody asked, genuinely curious.
“Mandalore.”
The answer was short and didn’t offer too much personal information but he had several follow up questions. Maybe this would be a good time to ask her to dinner, which is something he’s been wanting to do for a while. Before he could, Isla witnessed the darkening of his expression. It was like a storm passed through the man at seeing Kenobi approach and Kyra’s expression brighten.
“You’re officially my favorite general, you barely scratch up my work.” She said with a smile.
“I don’t particularly try to be mindful of that in the heat of battle but happy it works out that way. Is Cody bothering you?” He asked
“No, he could never. The man is like sunshine is plastoid.” Kyra said, not able to look at Cody as she said it.
Isla winked at Cody, “I’m gonna head back to work on some stuff and see Jesse. Are you going to 79s later?”
“Yeah, I’ll see you there.” Kyra said before beginning to work on the wing again.
“I’m inclined to agree, Cody is a wonderful asset to our team. As are you, you work very hard to keep us in the air.”
“Did Skywalker crash another one?” She asked, pulling some wires out of the wing as she spoke.
Those probably weren’t supposed to come out so easily.
“Yes. But I mean it, you’re a great asset to this team.”
Kyra blushed and waved him off, “thank you but really. Please. Yell at Skywalker.”
Kenobi smiled at that, “I’ll do my best.”
He left at that, it was just Cody and Kyra now. Did she have feelings for his general? Why did that sit funny with him?
“Will I find you among the other commanders and captains tonight, Cody?” She asked
“Maybe.” He answered, genuinely unsure.
He had so much to do in terms of paperwork and preparing for tomorrows meeting, but those beautiful brown eyes seemed to shine in the sunlight when they looked at him. They were an amber brown.
“I’ll look for you.” She said
That made his heart flutter but he chose to ignore it. She probably did like Kenobi, who wouldn’t? He had developed a slight crush on the man but it seemed to go away with time. Cody was pulled from his thoughts by Waxer, who was showing him a data pad to sign off on shinies.
Kyra had gone home after her work was done to wash up and change, going to 79s after. Isla was the only one there and she was preoccupied by Jesse so Kyra sat at the bar by herself. She was two whiskeys in when Cody approached her, sitting next to her at the bar now.
“Not going to go fight off potential bed warmers at the high command table?” She asked, probably a little too bold from the liquor.
Maybe Cody had misread what she meant when she said she would be looking for him but he wasn’t going to back down now, especially as Wolffe and Gregor gave him a thumbs up from their table. Kyra smiled a bit at that, maybe she should go easy on him.
“I’m only kidding, I know most of you have partners and aren’t like that. Although, sex is actually a great stress reliever.”
Too forward, too much. Someone kill her now. Kyra downed the rest of her whiskey and ordered two more.
“I think you’d like this stuff. If you don’t, hey. It’s a free drink.”
Cody took a sip of it, taking in the bitter somewhat smokey flavor of the liquor.
“It’s nice, thank you.” He said
“I’m not good with people. You put me in front of a broken ship or even building one, I’m spectacular but I can’t uh…I’m not the talker. I don’t talk to people well.” She admitted
“You don’t say.” Cody said, sarcasm laced heavily in his words.
Kyra blushed a bit at that, she wasn’t doing well with this at all. She opted for silence after and Cody hoped he didn’t offend her.
“I’m not much of a talker either.” He admitted.
“No?” She asked
He shook his head, “too much going on in my head. Sometimes I switch between Mando’a and basic without meaning to and one time, I accidentally insulted master Yoda. He was a Jedi about it but I still felt bad.” Cody sighed
“I insulted the Chancellor at a dinner once.” Kyra said, “to his face. It was an accident too. Kenobi really saved me from being arrested. Not that Thorn would have, not without me actually doing something illegal.”
“Have you ever been arrested?” He asked her.
Kyra faced him a little more now and he did the same to her, their knees bumping together going ignored by the two of them.
“I was held by the Corries for 1 night once. I accidentally stole a necklace but what happened was I was still kind of magnetic from an incident with one of the ships. Senators are dramatic and a necklace flew off of one of them onto me. Really, holding me was just a formality. I didn’t even go into a cell, I sat in Thorn’s office and played with Grizzer.”
“How did Fox let that slide?” He asked, taking another sip of whiskey.
“I’m friends with Kavra, she helped him take mercy on me. They should just shut up and date already. The world would be a happier place if people let go and let their feelings win sometimes.” She shrugged.
She was about to order another one, but Cody stopped her.
“Let’s get you some water and food first, okay? I know that hangovers during briefings are no fun.”
“Ah fuck, I have to sit in on that tomorrow?” She frowned
“Sorry.” He chuckled.
He ordered her water and something small to eat, Kyra watching him as he did so. He was in a black T-shirt and pants, no doubt the blacks from under their armor. He had various scars down his arms, but she noticed how toned his arms were and how long his fingers were. She shifted in her seat, clamping her thighs together.
“What?” He asked, noticing her watching.
She had to keep herself in check because it wasn’t polite to tell your sort of new friend you wanted them to choke you while railing you into next month. Kyra opted for a random fact that popped up in her mind, knowing it would divert the confused looking man from her semi-strange behavior.
“Some call you Commander Sunshine.” She said, smiling at him with teeth.
She had a small gap between her two front teeth and it lit up her whole face to smile. He felt his heart flip flop at that and couldn’t help his own smile.
“Why is that? I’ve been told I can be harsh on my men at times.”
Kyra vaguely gestured at him, as if that was answer enough and he laughed.
“Thank you for not clearing that up.” He said
“You’re welcome.” She smiled again.
After they both ate, continuing to talk, Kyra decided it was time to close her tab instead of keep drinking. The food seemed to sober her up a little bit and she knew a walk back in the cool air would help too. Cody insisted on walking her back to her apartment, it wasn’t far from here but he wasn’t going to take no for an answer on this. She was tipsy, he wasn’t going to leave her alone.
They walked in silence, enjoying the sounds around them as the cool air seemed to do the trick. It was a comfortable silence between the two of them and Kyra made a decision as they stopped outside of her apartment building.
“Did you want to come up for a cup of caf?”
Cody was a little startled by the question but said, “sure.” He followed her up, silently looking around the apartment while she went into the small kitchen. It was a little cluttered, lived in. Boots by the door, a jacket and scarf on a hook by the door. There was a couch with blankets draped in various spots and a data pad charging at a desk pressed against the wall in the corner. There was a small kitchen with barstools at an island instead of a table.
The counter top island had various jars and half drank cups of old caf on them. She had an easel set up too, tarp under it. A half painted bowl of fruit was on it, making him smile a bit. There was a small table in the middle of the room and another next to the couch, an end table. There was a helmet, beskar, but it seemed old. Worn, but not worn. The color of it a grey-blue mixture. Cody noticed there was a picture of a man with her by one of the lamps.
“I had a husband.” She said as she handed him the warm mug.
She was so quiet, he almost jumped out of his skin when she spoke. To sneak up on him was a feat many didn’t possess but he knew Kyra wasn’t going to harm him. Maybe.
“Had?” He asked
“He died. We had only been married for two years but it’s okay. It was an arrangement to bring our clans together, we were friends. Nothing more.”
“I’m still sorry.” He said
She nodded, “most people are.”
They both sipped their caf in silence. She sat on the couch and patted the spot next to her. Their legs touched again, silently enjoying the closeness but not admitting it.
“We should do this more.” She said suddenly.
“What?” He asked
“Hang out. Talk. Whatever this is.” She said, still not entirely sober but not entirely drunk either.
Cody brushed a strand of hair out of her face, the touch seeming to startle her. There was something slightly odd about the woman, anybody who spent more than 20 minutes with her could see it or sort of sense it. She seemed warm and kind, though, generally. The silences with her were comfortable, never tense or awkward. Eventually, Cody had fallen asleep on one side of the couch, Kyra falling asleep on the other. When she woke up, Cody was gone and it made her frown. She rather enjoyed his presence, she found, and it was sort of cold without him. She couldn’t explain it beyond that. There was a note taped to the fridge, the caf pot still warm to indicate he hadn’t left that long ago.
“Sorry if the caf is cold when you wake up, I didn’t want to bother you. See you at the meeting.”
Kriff. The meeting. She checked what time it was and saw she had an hour left to get ready and head over there. The caf would end up in a to-go mug after being microwaved due to waiting until after her shower. Her hair was down, air drying and she had on leggings and a tank top for now. She brought her data pad, just in case. She slid in next to Isla, maybe only 5 minutes late, and immediately felt a gaze on her.
Commander Cody, through his visor, staring right at her. She heard he hated tardiness and informalities, he was a proper commander after all. She smiled sheepishly at him before pulling up notes on her data pad. She paid very close attention, not noticing after a while that Cody seemed more interested in her than the meeting. You couldn’t really tell beyond the visor because it hid his face but Kenobi certainly noticed.
It was concern enough for the Jedi to pull Cody aside after the meeting, telling him he wished to speak to him in private. After everybody had filed out and it was only the two of them, Kenobi’s expression turned from friendly to very serious.
“I don’t know what your true relationship is with Kyra and it is not my business to pry in such matters, but you need to consider the relationship very carefully.” Kenobi said
Who was she that Obi-wan was warning him?
“We’re just friends, general. Nothing more.” Cody replied
“Even being her friend could lead to precarious situations. Her life is not as simple as it looks.”
How did Kenobi know all of that? Who or what was Kyra? The question seemed to entice him towards her more, sliding down to where she was working later in the day. She was with Aurora.
“So when is the wedding?” Kyra joked lightly.
“Shut up.” Aurora blushed
“Apologies, on interrupting.” Cody said as he approached.
“None needed, what brings you all the way down here?” Kyra asked
Ask her to dinner, for a drink. Kriff, she looked so beautiful in those leggings and tank top, her hair pulled up in a bun again out of her face. She had freckles across her nose and a few scars here and there down her arms and back.
“Cody?” She asked, tilting her head to the side slightly now.
He cleared his throat, “I need to speak with the General. I came looking for her.”
Why couldn’t he just ask this woman on a proper date? Cody was smooth, he could usually sweet talk his way into anybody’s bed but with Kyra he always found himself falling short.
“Well, I am done with her for now so I suppose you can borrow her. Only for a little while, commander.” She said, giving him that bright smile again.
“You should come to 79’s tonight.” He blurted out.
Yup. Smooth.
“Why is that?” She asked, looking amused still.
“You made a comment about the commanders and captains turning away bed warmers and I wanted to turn that jab into a bet.” He said
Something unreadable flashed through Kyra’s expression, there and gone in a second.
“Deal. I’ll be joining your table tonight then, warn the others.” She said
“Don’t you mean inform the others?” Aurora asked
“I didn’t stutter.” Kyra said before going back to working on repairs.
Maker, what had Cody gotten him and his vod into?

Hello!!!! 7 and 12 for the fic writer game? 💙
7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?
Probably the magic/Force system and culture in Anakin Skywalker, Witch. I’ve actually done a lot of research into modern and historical uses and meanings of plants and stones (and trees) in occultism/mysticism. Some might say too much research.
(There have been field trips to occult stores. I have a little shrine for writing now. I did carefully choose each stone.)
12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?
…. Daddy kink. I didn’t really get it. Then I start reading fanfic about Daddy-Wan Kenobi.

2, 8, 38, 42!
Hello and thank you 🥰 (for this fic writers game)
This is very long for some reason (I know why and it's the same reason all my one-shots are ridiculous) so I'll put a cut
2. Go to your AO3 “Works” page, to the sidebar with all the filters, and click the drop-down arrow for “Additional Tags.” What are your top 3-5 most used tags? Do you think they accurately represent your writing habits?
Absolutely fascinating to do this, thank you. My results:
Alternate Universe - Modern Setting (9)
Rimming (6)
Top Obi-Wan Kenobi (6)
Anal Sex (4)
Bottom Anakin Skywalker (4)
First what this tells me is that I failed to tag anal sex at least twice so that's on me. The top/bottom disparity puzzled me for a moment until I remembered I'd tagged at least one fic with power bottom Anakin and I bet the filter didn't catch that.
It's funny, tagging dynamics wasn't really a thing in my previous fandoms but I saw it was in obikin so I've adjusted my habits. This also shows that I a) have a lot of wips that have not gotten to the sex and b) I write more M and under and non-penetrative sex than I realized.
The modern AU thing is definitely accurate, I write a lot of those. Although I have 22 works in total so I guess more than half aren't modern AUs. They're a combination of canon divergence (which I never tag although I probably should) and other (like historical au). I like modern AUs! I love reading them and I love writing them. Sure you can angst it up but it's nice to have a setting where I don't have to think about whether Anakin's already gone on a murder spree or not.
8. What song would make a great fic (to either write or read)?
I am the worst person for this question because I've never been inspired to write by a song. Sometimes I'll have an idea and go looking for a song with the right vibes to listen to while I work but that's the closest I've gotten.
Oh you know what? I was listening to Criminal by Fiona Apple one time and thought something fun could be done with that premise (with all the "girl"s changed presumably). I never went anywhere with it but I could see Anakin being the Fiona Apple character? Is there something there? Maybe he and Obi-Wan broke up because Anakin was callous in some way? I don't know!
38. Did any of your fics get surprisingly popular (whatever that means to you)? Which ones? Why do you think they were so successful?
To this day I'm a little surprised when anyone reads anything but I maybe my one shot Out of the Bag? The general pattern I've noticed is that longer fics end up being more popular and my catboy Anakin is one chapter, short (by my standards) and fundamentally pretty cracky. They don't even actually hook up in it, it's just kissing and the suggestion of a further relationship!
What this tells me is that a decent number of people also want to see a cat eared Anakin get absolutely wrecked by Obi-Wan and you know what? I want to see that too.
42. Have you ever received a comment that particularly stood out to you for whatever reason?
The cheap but true answer is that whenever someone takes the time to really engage with a chapter it stands out to me. I can remember writing à la carte and getting comments wondering what would happen next and about Anakin's backstory and that's all I've ever wanted! When people have theories??? It's the most fun ever and I always have to hold myself back from confirming or denying them.
The sillier answer is that someone bookmarked one of my fics with the comment "guilty pleasure unfortunately" and I think about it like once a month and laugh. I've been there too, bookmarker. I'm just happy you enjoyed it!

Headcanons: The Prequel Trilogy and Original Trilogy Characters When They Find Out That You’re Feeling Insecure About Your Weight
MASTERLIST | AO3 | KO-FI
Relationship(s): Anakin Skywalker x plus size!gn!reader (romantic), Obi-Wan Kenobi x plus size!gn!reader (romantic), Padmé Amidala x plus size!gn!reader (romantic), Leia Organa x plus size!gn!reader (romantic), Luke Skywalker x plus size!gn!reader (romantic), Han Solo x plus size!gn!reader (romantic), Lando Calrissian x plus size!gn!reader (romantic)
Warnings: Mentions of insecurity/body image issues (obviously). (Let me know if I need to add any)
(A/N: Let me start off by saying that I don’t intend on everything I write specifically for PS!readers to be about insecurity. I wrote this (and intend to write some more PS!gn!reader stuff) because I feel like, in plus size-specific fanfiction, the reader is almost always written as fem, something that I am not. It sucks not having many fics that I can relate to as an enby AND plus size person, so I thought I’d write the fics I want to see more of. My work is written with the intent of including as many people as humanly possible, and I’ll keep writing work that isn’t specifically for PS!readers, but I want to write some more PS-specific work (that fem readers can also read!) that includes my fellow plus size non-women. If you’d like some more plus size!gn!reader stuff from me, drop a request in my ask box or DMs (after reading my rules, of course!) Also, I included Lando on here because I don’t see enough SW fics for him, and I think he’s incredibly hot.)
Tumblr media
ANAKIN
Tumblr media
Anakin would be quite frustrated if you expressed insecurity about your size.
He wouldn’t direct his frustration at you, though.
Eventually, he might let his frustration show (regrettably), but profusely apologise after, assuring you that how he’s feeling isn’t your fault.
He’d just keep it inside (or at least attempt to).
He’d put on a brave face, sit beside you and talk you through your feelings as best he can, but he can’t stop himself from interrupting and arguing every negative point you make about yourself.
He’d try to assure you that he loves you no matter what, and, at the very least, you shouldn’t worry about how he perceives you.
It’s not like he particularly cares about the size of anyone, least of all the people he loves.
But, he knows it isn’t all about him.
That being said, he’d make even more of an effort to tell you how much he loves you, and all he can do is hope that you’ll realise how wonderful you are regardless of your size.
OBI-WAN
Tumblr media
Obi-Wan would be quite heartbroken when he realises that you’re insecure.
Not only heartbroken but confused too.
How could you doubt yourself like this?
He certainly had no issue with you nor your weight; it didn’t matter what you looked like.
In the moment, he’d try his best to comfort you, spluttering out a frantic attempt at reassuring you of your worth.
However, relatively soon, he’d realise that there’s no quick fix for this kind of thing.
Instead, he’d make sure to show you how much you mean to him, while also trying to remind you of your worth separate from him.
After all, with or without him, you’d still be the best person in the galaxy.
Hopefully, it would only be a matter of time until you realised it.
PADMÉ
Tumblr media
At first, Padmé would become Sadmé (sorry I couldn’t resist) when she finds out about how you’re feeling.
But, she’d soon grow beyond determined to help ease your insecurities.
She knows from the get go that she shouldn’t let you focus on her perception of you, because it’s your perception of you that needs amending, and how she sees you has little impact on that.
Sometimes, she’ll end up telling you about her occasional bouts of lacking self-confidence.
When it comes to you, she radiated adoration before finding out, and she does so tenfold after finding out.
Throughout the day, she’d pay you little compliments.
At night, when you two are lying in bed, she’d hold you in her arms and, as you’re falling asleep, whisper affirming words to you.
Her certainty and persistence is key in helping you work on your insecurities.
LEIA
Tumblr media
Leia doesn’t let herself feel upset upon finding out.
Instead, she goes straight into trying to reassure you.
If you let her, she’ll hold you in her arms and tell you everything she loves about you.
She also assures you that how you’re feeling is completely normal.
But, she’ll insist that you shouldn’t let yourself lose sight of how wonderful of a person you are.
Your size doesn’t matter to her, nor should it matter to anyone else, especially yourself.
She’ll also assure you that there’s nothing inherently wrong with your size either.
Of course, she’d get a tad frustrated if you don’t take in what she’s saying.
But, the frustration comes from a desperation to help you.
If she lets her frustration show, she’ll 100% apologise for it and soften completely, going back to doing her best to reassure you that you’re great no matter what.
LUKE
Tumblr media
Luke would be quite alarmed and a bit upset upon discovering how you’re feeling, though he’ll try his best to stop your feelings from making him upset.
However, as someone who has dealt with insecurity and self-doubt, Luke is extremely empathetic.
He’d sit you down and face you, more than likely holding your hands, and, with a small smile he can’t suppress, tell you everything he loves about you.
Like Padmé, he’d start doing this when you two are in bed falling asleep.
He’d meditate with you with the hope that it’ll help you gradually feel better.
He’ll also calmly talk you through your thoughts and feelings, and help you combat the ones of insecurity.
Sometimes, though, he knows you just want, or need, a hug, so he’d be more than willing to give you non-verbal support like that.
He’ll feel terrible if things don’t start to improve for you quickly, but he’ll keep at it until you start to feel better.
HAN
Tumblr media
Han, at first, would probably be dismissive of how you’re feeling, saying something easy like: “What are you talking about? You look fine to me.”
But, he’ll clock on to the fact that this isn’t just a one-off thing.
That being said, he has no idea what to do with this realisation; the last person many people would choose to go to for comfort is Han Solo.
That night, Han would probably lie awake, feeling pretty lost and trying to figure out what to do.
In fact, when you wake up the next morning, you’ll assume he’d just decided to forget about it.
You wouldn’t think much of it when he paid you the first compliment of the day, nor the second nor third, and so on.
It’d probably take a few days for you to notice the desperation in his eyes.
Soon, though, you’ll realise that this is Han’s clueless way of trying to show you how wonderful you are.
LANDO
Tumblr media
Lando would appear extremely calm upon discovering your insecurities.
He’d pay you compliment after compliment in an attempt to reassure you of your worth (and to make your insecurities go away, because he doesn’t realise how big they are at first).
On the inside, though, he’d slowly but surely descend into some kind of panic mode, something that gets worse when you can’t just get over how you’re feeling.
Of course, he’s not annoyed at you for how you’re feeling, but he just hates seeing you like this.
Gradually, he’d become more serious.
It would go from easy compliments to a serious talk.
He’d look you dead in the eye and wipe that charming smile off his face as this happens.
He’ll say how great of a person you are, and to hell with anyone who values you solely on your appearance.
He’ll do this kind of thing more often, so you don’t dismiss what he’s saying.
