i think the biggest reason im so bitter about the lotus casino scene is because while i understand why the changes were made, there was something so inherently child-like in the way the trio acted in the books that i feel like just wasnt allowed to be present in the show. they were immediately enamored by the games in the book, and thats what made them so relatable and fun to read. it makes sense for the show that grover and annabeth know immediately what's happening and know that the lotus casino is a trap considering their knowledge of the greek myths but i feel like that change takes away from them feeling like actual kids, which was one of the main things the show intended to hit. i feel like im seeing this in other points of the show too - they dont feel like kids, they just feel like kids' bodies. and yeah okay maybe being a demigod "makes you age fast" but there was always a sense of childishness in the books even with that fact that just isnt in the show.

watched the first 2 episodes of acolyte and so far i like every character except for the main one lol. (also is her name osha as in occupational safety and health administration??)

Finally finished Attack on Titan. My God. Just. Wow.
#I started it when it first came out then was very odd and on#I eventually watched like 3 seasons in and never watched the last season or the long finale eps#I started getting my brother more into anime over the last like 2 years or so#he discovered AOT and finished it a while ago now and has been pushing for me to finish it too for like probably over a year at least#I’ve always been reluctant cause it’s such a heavy show and I had to be in the mood#finally the stars aligned tonight and we watched the final finale ep.#I cried several times.#it was perfect#it was painful and perfect#my fucking heart#hard to believe I finally finished it after over a decade from when I started it#and now I have lots of convos about it with my brother to look forward to#we’ve already discussed plenty tonight. but it’s getting late and idk if my brain’s even fully processed it all#attack on titan#top tier in my books#I don’t think I could ever do justice to the show trying to explain what was so good about it#gotta appreciate the little things. need to take the time to look at where I am rather than just where I want to reach.#peace and freedom are always worth reaching for even if war and suffering are inevitable to life. cherish the lives around you.#those are my takeaways from the series. those are the messages I received. and what a tragic and beautiful journey it was.

not 2 be a "bad" "feminist" but like. okay I know the guy who plays Nate is problematic and etc, but like. like I tried to like Leverage Redemption, but it just. is too flanderized and doesn't quite manage to like both write real-feeling characters nor grasp the charm that made Leverage "work" for me, so like. watching Leverage Redemption mostly has me wincing, and like. does not hold the same place in my heart that Leverage does....
#the thing about leverage redemption for me is#is everyone is just. too 2d#and it has the same problem of sequels where it's like. it takes place in the future so it feels like it *should*#progress from where we left things off??#but instead it like. has to regress things back at least a few steps so there's a place to go again#and it's just. doesn't do it for me#and also the characterization feels so flanderized. it feels like when ur reading the popular fic in a fandom#where it's like. so fanon heavy. and everyone has like 1 or 2 flanderized character traits....#and even the baddies in leverage redemption feel too 2d#like. even the most 2d of the leverage baddies was at least 2.5d. like they threw an extra thing in there that made them feel more 'real'#idk man idk!!! I just. would rather rewatch leverage for the character writing and the plot#it's just. Leverage Redemption also somehow manages to create more problems in like the sj-issues axis#that somehow leverage didn't have despite very much also being a product of its time#like sorry leverage redemption but the problem with making the indian guy the bad guy in that episode#is that you positioned parker as the one diametrically against him#and she's like. a blond White Woman playing old money 8)#like at least in the sweatshop ep of Leverage the 'main client' was a Chinese rep of a Chinese advocacy group#advocating for a Chinese woman who was being taken advantage of#urhghghghghghghg#maybe if I take another look at Leverage Redemption I will find it charming instead of cringely try-hard lmao... :')#sorry to be so mean to Leverage Redemption but the attempts at namedropping character beats just came off too flanderization :')#and poorly placed :') to me :')#*

#XENOGEARS BABYYY#that is VERY impressive considering it wasn't a real con and it was a popup event in the middle of nowhere.#A Glorified yardsale; if you will. With nothing but Star wars and comic books and Pokemon . But I found xeno series stuff hell yeah#They also had xenosaga ep 2 Japan edition but I didn't have the money for both#Didn't have money for mine and my sisters lunch either so we owe someone like 40 bucks now :(#But it's worth it...for xenogears#Only xeno game I don't own now is Xenoblade X which I'm praying gets a switch port.#praying every xeno game gets a switch port actually id love for everything to just be on one console#but X especially because I don't have and probably never will have a Wii u.
