Aero, Gemstone Wraith (Mixed Wraith AU)

The Gemstone Wraith is one of the more rare Solid Wraith types, as they tend to cycle out old Gemstone Wraiths with new ones. It’s rare for the population of this Wraith type to go up. The Gemstone Wraith is small, smaller than the Oil Wraith (Which is like, half the size of the Water Wraith standing up.), and is square looking. Or rectangular technically. It has gems scattered across its body, the most common color would be the color of the past creature’s eyes, or just a random color. It’s also a grey dirt color, giving off the (Correct) impression that it stays underground.

These Wraiths are one of the few solid Wraiths that hope on the chance that another non Wraith finds them. They would lure them down to their cave, which has a lot of pretty gems, with, say it with me now, trance powers. (Man, these Solids sure do love those). They tend to be able to convince the poor creature to eat one of the gemstones in the cave, which as a result, kills the closest Gemstone Wraith and turns the creature that ate the gemstone into a Gemstone Wraith. As you might be able to tell, the obsession has to do with Gemstones. Luckily for every creature ever, the gemstones on the Gemstone Wraith’s body are not powerful enough to induce the same trance powers, only the ones found in Gemstone Wraith’s caves are. 

These Wraiths are affected by Lumiknolls.

Aero is the fourth member to become a Wraith, and is the third one to lose their memories after becoming a Wraith. Yes, that can happen in the AU, it's quite common for creatures Wraith transformations.

After just losing three of their crew members, the rescue corps head to a frosty place (Valley of Repose.) So while some of the crew is looking around, Aero finds a small Wraith. It guides him over, almost convincing himself to jump in, but Aero snaps out of the daze and attempts to walk away. The Wraith goes into the cave, grabs a gem, and shows it to Aero. This is where Aero learns that these gems have trace powers! (YIPPEE) And he walks back over to the cave, and jumps inside after the Wraith drops the gem down the cave. This cave ends up being that small Wraith’s home, and Aero is already enthralled by the gemstone the Wraith had shown it before. He kinda loses himself for a bit, just long enough for the Wraith to deactivate things like the GPS, radio, all the important stuff. Aero looks up at the ceiling. They come in every color, from blue to red. 

Aero becomes entranced with the pretty colors for a few hours, before seeing a purple gem and suddenly remembering Pom. He ends up shaking himself out of it. Aero attempts to be smart for a second, looking down to try and get to where he’s going, but his plan is foiled after the Wraith puts some more gems around the cave’s next hole. And for the next couple of hours to Aero, and a literal night in reality, Aero just stares at the gems, and falls asleep. He has a dream, and Dream Pom (Not actually Pom) snaps him out of it. After almost falling under the spell again once he woke up, he decides to venture onward, already trapped in the small Wraith’s spell.

Aero lands on the last sublevel, and it’s got even MORE of those gemstones. Aero tries to not fall under, but after just a few seconds, he gives in again. He walks up to some on the wall, unable to stop himself from taking some. Aero walks back up, and then back down the winding path, taking more of the gems, mainly purple ones, and slowly falling into obsession with the lights. Once he reaches the end, Aero enters the final room, which has a low ceiling, and little lighting, letting the gemstones that are everywhere glow and take a hold over Aero’s mind. At this point, even if someone was to try and stop Aero, it is too late, Aero has fallen into complete obsession over these gems, and the small Wraith knows it. 

He collapses in front of the small Wraith, wanting and begging to stay. The walls of gemstones (Which are all past creatures who have fallen for the exact same thing he has) tell him that he can, and even if he wants to join them, he has to eat one of the many gems he has in his possession to become what he so desperately wants to be, a Gemstone Wraith. To Aero’s credit, at first, Aero is hesitant to ruin such beauties, but he eventually just gives in, and eats a small gemstone, which knocks him out. Once Aero awakens, he has become a Gemstone Wraith, and he just wants to stay below the surface in this cave for the rest of time.

Aero's personality changes, quite a bit. His mind only has one thing on it, and that is his GEMS. He obsesses over them, to a point where he'll zone out holding one, even IF he has his memories back! He's super possessive over his gems also, and acts like a crazy guy 90% of the time. The other 10% is him just being mad over other creatures trying to take him away from the loves of his life.

Aero has something special about remembering. When he does, it's only just Pom and himself at first. He slowly will regain the rest of what he's forgetting, but it will take awhile. In this state, he's super docile. He's very friendly, and will often just talk to people and try to be there friends!

Unless he sees bright, colorful, flashing lights. When he does, his mind shuts down, as he believes it's a gem. He kinda gets stuck in a state of staring at the lights until they go away and THEN SOME. Man's gets stuck in his own mind until someone can both block his sight with the lights and snap him out of it. It doesn't take much to snap him out of it, but it's still scary for the crew to watch him go back to the mindless Wraith he was before.

I doubt it. Wraiths are just humans that were too angry to die and got turned into shadow monsters, they don't have very many 'monstrous' instincts like other monsters have.

I feel like Simon wouldn't be as oblivious with dragon reader, mainly bc Price is a dragon and Simon has been around him enough to figure out some of dragon practices. But he's still clueless as fuck why this new dragon is constantly urging him to fight and having them exchange insults or horrible dad jokes. He definitely thinks you're a prick, meanwhile you're slowly falling in love with the bastard that squares up to you without a single drop of fear in his eyes.

THUNDER SAGA

- Gosh, 'Suffering' is maybe probably most definitely my second fav song (after 'Thunder Bringer' ofc) in this saga. It's just so GOOD UGHH!!! I'm utterly OBSESSED with whoever voices Penelope/Siren Penelope cause they just sound ETHEREAL. Also the amount of memes with the "You know I'm too shy" is astounding. Def my fav part of the song.

- I hc that Ody, in 'Different Beast', when he said "You are no wife of mine!" that he pulled an "erm, actually-" and basically: "Nah cuz you got a few details ab my wife wrong, homie. You see, her ponytail's tips actually reach 3.5 cm lower than that, plus you got the shade of her eye color wrong. And gods she'd never wear that tunic without matching earrings!" Homie's obsessed lmao.

- Oh. My. God. KJ. KJ! THE ABSOLUTE QUEEN GAHH!!! The fucking growl Scylla had on "Give up your honor and wraith!" Made me literally almost fall over. I had a ton of fun just dancing to KJ's vocals. My GOD that's beautiful💯💯

- Tell me y'all can hear the absolute desperation in Eury's voice at the start😭 bro does NOT wanna believe his home bro Ody just gave up six men's lives like that. - Let's fucking go Athena is back on track, baby! Literally LOVE both hers and Antinuos' vocals. They were ON. TOP. I couldn't help but giggle at Tele's "Woah,, that is so sick!!" Like he's my baby boy I love him smmmm!!!

- Ahhh the fact that Jorge got his dad to voice Hephaestus is so cute <33 And Mr. PAM-PAM was right. Luke Holt's BEASTMODE ZEUS IS PHENOMENAL. I adored the transition between 'Warrior Of The Mind' and 'Legenday' after Zeus supposedly struck Athena down, which were – by the looks of the animatic shown in the livestream – the memories that got the goddess determined to stand back up💪💪 The way Ares' voice almost broke when he asked "Is she dead..?" broke me like😭😭 And whoever voices Hera is an absolute legend how the fuck is your voice that HEAVENLY😳

Also pls let the 'Silly Saga' be a thing, I had all the vids from Jorge's Disney Princess Era plus the Jimmy Neutron specials stuck inside my head non-stop for daysss🙏

Every season they play for the Kaguya Cup, named after the mother of ice hockey who invented it eons ago with two sons on her hip ! Yeah sure we’ll go with that….

I present to you the Original FIVE: the Kumo Cloud, the Iwa Quake, the Kiri Mist Wraiths, the Suna Dust Devils, and the Konoha Leafs !! Sorry to actual Leafs fans but I thought about this for much longer than I want to admit and there is no other name that makes sense here. I just think they’re fun <3 (SO many translatable motifs and ideas and I can’t include them all here)

3-man units EASILY become lines. I thought about this and yeah . Yeah. Team 7 is still comprised of Naruto-Sakura-Sasuke OBVIOUSLY . there is no gender segregation in this AU because i chose joy and fun when dreaming it up. also they all wore 7 in juniors. 777. 7-UP line LMAO. jackpot line? Team 7. haven’t decided.

Naruto quick facts: winger, wears the C (eventually) undrafted in his first eligible year, taken 111th overall in his second (he was a late bloomer + canon-compliant asshole child era meant nobody wanted his ass!! Konoha took a chance on him!). Wore #7 he wears #1 because of his draft position and because he’s gonna be the best player EVER. <3 He thinks he’s normal about Sasuke (he is not)

Sasuke notes: winger, wears an A. went 1st overall. No weaknesses … the Perfect player ! except he is Not his brother Itachi who ALSO went 1st overall about 10 years ago. the world wont let him forget it . Itachi is now retired for medical reasons but works in hockey as a scout, but the comparisons haunt our little man… </3 Sasuke’s D+1 year he wasn’t ready for the ENHL and everyone started calling him a bust because he got sent down!! SAD!!!! Wears #77 as a Leaf because they all agreed it would be fair no one should have #7. Trade rumours to the Oto Thunder every season like clockwork because Orochimaru, Oto’s GM, originally tanked to get Sasuke in the draft and FAILED…!

Sidebar i believe in my heart that Naruto and Sasuke played for rival juniors teams; the Uzushio Tempest and the Uchiwa Flames…… let me cook here alright,.. i just think they developed an intense fixation on each other and got thrown out of games for fighting ! Ironically this rivalry unlocked their potential and they were in a heated scoring race thru the entire season…..

Sakura: undisputed center and the bus driver of this line!!! wears the other A! Drafted 7OA and everyone was mad about it because they wanted someone else. Wore #7 through juniors to spite them !! Currently wears #16 just like her hero Tsunade <3 Tactical mind, not naturally talented but worked hard for everything she has, an extremely effective playmaker… I think she is built like a tank… terrifying power forward Sakura…………….

They play for the Konoha Leafs obviously...! Theyre the cringefail girlies for about 2 years once they make it to the ENHL, godbless . Lots of individual flashes of brilliance but no long-term success and zero team cohesion as they are shuffled around. Naruto and Sasuke both have a go at being center but they both Suck at anchoring a line like that.. they aint made that way (to ME!!!) Konoha Leafs on the verge of collapse and wasting another 5-7 yrs of being mediocre. Then one day coach Kakashi decides ‘Hm. Maybe. i will make Sakura play with these two assholes.’ And the rest is history!!!!!!

Listen I just think she would corral their worst impulses and keep them in line…. I feel like she’s a very responsible and smart 2-way player and balances Naruto and Sasuke’s heavy offence out. They get really dangerous the moment they settle into their roles. 777. JACKPOT!!!!!!

DESIGN NOTES

In-universe, the above design is a 3rd jersey nodding towards Konoha's heritage. Prior to becoming the Leafs in the ENHL, they were the Demon Foxes!

WHY did i choose a third jersey…? This idea popped into my head when i heard rumours the ducks were leaning into their orange county ties in the rebrand and i thought ouuuhh you know what would fuck severely… naruto x ducks brand collaboration…… oramnge…. I love orange <3

Anyway Naruto had his heart set on being a goalie before tragically being moved to forward (the skaters …they YEARN for the pipes!!!!) so he wraps his stick in that insane goalie knob style <3 Where did you get that red and blue tape from Naruto…. C’mon now don’t be shy …

Blade is orange taped bc Naruto loves orange so bad. There are various ideas about white sticks/white tape being harder to see against the ice and i think he’d like the idea of taping his blade orange bc the doesn’t need that competitive advantage lol

Konoha home jerseys are green/brown/white/red/blue (think something closer to the Jounin flak jackets) More on them later mayhaps…

Out of universe, I based the colours and design elements largely off Naruto’s outfits over the series. The black and orange is a nod to his first outfit in Shippuden — note the black on his shoulders cutting across his chest and the shape language of the piping on the abdomen.

The red piping is because reaaaalllly wanted to add his Hokage robe flames but i tried it and thought it looked lame as HELL . So i suppose we will save that for a specialty jersey somewhere down the line (many thoughts… many many thoughts….)

The blue/white/red on his skates, sleeves, and gloves is an homage to the Uchiha, who had a hand in founding the team + have people within the org. I imagine the Uchiha clan as this, idk, juggernaut of hockey dynasties…!! A finger in every possible pie. Maybe they have partial ownership of the team. They do equipment manufacturing (gloves, skates, tape!), PR, scouting… everything!!!

Shoulder patches are Uzushio’s whirlpool insignia.

The ribbed neck guard is a reference to Naruto’s first jumpsuit design. He definitely thinks he doesn’t need a neck guard until Sasuke mentions that they’re kind of cool — a blatant manipulation to get Naruto to wear one. <- they are unwell about each other you see

Naruto tapes his hockey socks different every time for good luck. someone said variety is the spice of life and then he heard somewhere else that spicy foods promote longevity and his wires got crossed and now he thinks of variance = spice = a long playing career.

here is a man, who wakes up not being able to see and he starts hearing a voice in his head. he wakes up in an office he discovers is his with his partner's dead body in the middle.

and he questions it so little. the thought of not having his own eyes and having a voice in his head and having just killed his partner normalizes so easily for him

istg the first ep i was just :o the whole time

second part so far has been the loudest. there was thunder and yelling and gunshots and it scared me. the podcast started out relatively quietly for my phone (and my headphones suck) so i had to listen to it on speaker. the room i work in is loud so it had to be pretty loud... i had my dog w me. we were both scared of the gunshots and thunder lmao

but yet again it was cool. the world design seems so cool and im eager to keep listening.

he finds a car by the side of the road, sees blood and track marks and FOLLOWS THEM. he finds a campsite with 2 women (one is dead) and a baby and he and john doe think "oh yeah. we have to save the baby." thats it. only baby.

the wraith things were so cool. i love ghosts and spirits and folklore about such things so the mansion ep was just super cool.

the gasmask man (im bad w names dont mind me) intrigued me. the way john would speak and the man would just scream shut up so the question "does the gas mask man hear john" rise up only for him to shut that idea down. and the comment about the mother. that callback minutes later was comedy gold istg.

im about half way into ep 5 too and the whole starting bit was creepy and cool and set up so well. the voice change from a calm helpful tone to a "TELL ME WHAT YOU KNOW ARTHUR" was 10/10

Most of these are based on some Tupperbox RPs, where my friends played some of them and they gave each other names, but I liked them a lot so that's just their name now

The Stranger: Doremi (as in 'do re mi fa so la ti,' I normally name my Dodrios this when I play Pokémon (one note for each head) but the one I caught yesterday I named The Stranger, so I thought it would be cute if they swapped names)

The Damsel: Primrose (often shortened to Prim, got it from a fanfic that changed my brain chemistry)

The Prisoner: Jade (because she's jaded)

The Beast: Dinah (like Alice's cat from Alice in Wonderland, Prim named her once they got close otherwise she wouldn't have one)

The Adversary: Crimson (she named herself and it kinda shows lol /aff Nightmare was like 'yas girlie you're covered in the stuff')

The Razor: Talyn (like talon, sharp like she is)

The Tower: Destiny (no comment she's definitely a Destiny)

The Nightmare: Mary (a friend named her, could just be short for Nightmare but imagine if it was like Bloody Mary lol)

The Witch: Tabitha (Prim calls her Tabby, I named her after my second Toralei monster high doll but also it's a kinda witchy name to me)

The Spectre: Wisteria (or Wisty, got it from a book and thought it fit her)

The Burned Grey: Hestia (after the Greek goddess of the hearth)

The Drowned Grey: Ophelia (saw someone else use it and. Yeah that fits her)

The Den: Regina (another Prim name lmao, queen of the junjle /ref)

i put way too much thought into fonts when editing. and like nobody gives a shit but i post things because I care about them. this is really long because im a NERD

All the fonts i mention are on capcut and all of them are free because i refuse to pay. Also im linking all the edits because. theyre kind of all over the place lmao

Scylla so, we're starting with scylla because of course. The text at the beginning is white in the font "fervent" this is intended to be the icarus, who is the narrator of the song in a sense, when Quixis name gets mentioned "the lair of quixis" the text becomes light grey and gets a golden glow. but the FONT is still fervernt because its still the narrator speaking. then on the word "home" the text is yellow, with a slight purple glow, because icarus' world is the yellow one, but the purple glow is to show Quixis' prescense, and the difficulty in the journey ahead. and because the brand is purple and yellow.

then Quixis gets their first line, and we see their text, and its light grey, yellow glow, Evangel font, italics and the opacity is slightly lowered (its actually specifically 77% because 7 is my fav number and i sneak it in everywhere i can) and the opacity is lowered because quixis is detached from the world and so the text is slightly transparent. think a ghost, they are not part of the coporeal world so their form appears translucent. same concept. also mostly because scylla's voice is very light floaty in my minds eye. and of course the glow is yellow because of the wack and midas imagery

rae's text doesn't appear every time he speaks, he's not the main focus and his lines are supposed to be semi-ambigious, you could see the au going a couple different ways. his font is Fervent, same as icarus' and its light blue because thats the colour i associate with rae.

then quixis' little distorted "hello" which is written in quixian. the opacity is full on this text because the quixian has an easier time getting into the world than normal text. there's also no glow but honestly thats just because it wouldn't work right on the quixian font.

the next time quixis speaks their text is different, everything is the same except now the opacity is full because theyre yelling and the voice isnt as light an airy anymore and there's also a red shadow to show they angy. EXCEPT for when they say "wraith" because they're referring to icarixis which, they are not supposed to tell yet its spoilers and the world is trying to redact that information.

their text returns to usual, no red shadow and lower opacity at the "we are the same you and i"

and something that's hard to notice about icarus' text on the "i" is theirs also has a little glow to it and its also italicised, its becoming more like Quixis' and the next thing that happens is literally them BECOMING Quixis

lot simpler concept, ic's text is yellow and in the font "freehand" because I thought it made it look vaugely handwritten but also fit icarus and the tone of voice of JD. all their text is in lowercase (except for whenever they say i or God). and whenever they refer to centross - you, you're etc the text is light purple (note, when they say "cause you beat me fair and square" theyre talking about everyone so the text is still yellow) because centross is purple.

but when Centross speaks, his text is a darker purple. because hes a god now, its Violet speaking but Icarus still sees him as centross so they still have the lighter text when talking to him.

Centross also has proper uppercase letters whenever he speaks. because he speaks fancy. He has the same font as icarus. i thought it fit them both.

when icarus says "dont know what this thing will do" they're talking about the wack injury on their chest, the word thing even appears over it and the text is red with like a cyan glow and green shadow. its supposed to look like the wack, a lot of colours, not a lot of sense. icarus also gets a red glow to their text whenever they're emphasising something "worship" "life" "disappear"

and the "our love is god" this line is said 4 times total, first time all yellow, second time "our" is that light purple, third time "Our" has a capitalised O and the text is light purple with a yellow glow and the forth time its the same but God has a red glow because the note gets held.

then centross' "Say hi to God" the word god is in centross colour and theres a yellow glow. becaues Icarus becomes the 'god' in a sense, could also take it as the yellow glow is for midas, because icarus does in fact say hi to them

How bad can I be

Midas' text is very similar to how it is in Scylla, its light grey, yellow glow. but the opacity is full and most of it isnt in italics. Except for the "How bad could I possibly be?" which is in italics because its Midas' actual voice (i stole the audio from the midas subnautica stream yesterday) which is echoey so they get italics for that part. they also get a red shadow for whenever text needs to be emphasised

and the little backing vocals are intended to be the things because. all of us love midas and they can do no wrong. so the font is called "pixel" and the text is white with both a brown glow and a brown shadow even tho if you glance at it it looks like its glowing yellow which was unintentional but cool

God Games

Perix's font is called Italic and its a blue-ish green like how the sculk feels to me. First thing she says "hey baby" baby has a purple shadow because shes talking about enderian (homosexual behaviour) the purple shadow also comes back when Perix says "yours" talking about Enderian's hero. when perix emphasises words their text doesnt get a glow or shadow but the word is written in all caps instead. felt right

Then when you get that "HERA" part its not hera singing so its not perix's font. The font is called Vogue and its one of the effects, so it looks like its white with cyan glow but technically its just cyan without glow and with that effect. make sense? good. anyway its like this because the people speaking are "narrator characters" so the main text needs to look white and its glowing cyan because theyre talking about perix.

Enderians text is in the font Luxury, it looks very proper and regal so i think it fits her and its light purple with a darker purple glow. its also in bold but only because the original font was too thin. When talking about icarus, her text keeps the purple glow and the body changes to yellow. no reason other than it looked better this way.

the only time perix's text does get a glow is at the very end, when she says "release them" and shes talking about icarus so the glow is yellow

I love all the world building you’ve shared so far and the details about the religions !!!!!!!!! Will your version of the nether have the same type of world building ? In jessons story the nether really just contained a castle and then the rebellion’s safe hold. Though here are you going to take it an actual kingdom with surrounding villages or forts or even temples for worship of the judge ? You said before that the shadow knights only made up a part of the judgements kingdom, so is there paths to travel in the nether ? Are you going to go into detail about how all of the judgements groups plus SK work together in both worlds ? Also are you going to talk about the premature shadow knights or any ruins of the first base that was created after the judgement was sealed in the nether ?

The Nether/The Abyss will be getting a bunch of world building too, because i'm a completionist and I will not create (or adopt) a world and not fully develop it lmoa.

The Abyss, at its very heart, has the fortress. It's almost part of the abyss, instead of being a structure built within it, and it is obviously where Judgement rests, and keeps his sacrifices and personal prisoners. It's bare of most furniture, since he has no need for physical comforts when he is not a physical individual, but he has his throne and his dining table, where he hosts feasts bc every god needs to show its followers some sign of love occasionally. his throne is like surrounded and adorned with candles and bones, and generally just offerings from his followers who would (and are trying to) end the world just to please him.

SKs (or just 'Knights' in my rewrite) at first began camping up around the fortress in tents and small hiding holes, when they were first created, however over time, they began to create more complex structures to house themselves and exist within. Humans also contributed, when they began being invited into the abyss to worship, so a fully-fledged society and culture began to develop, with art and entertainment, and music all individual to the city. The city around the fortress is actually liveable for the average person, if the average person were able to stomach violence and such enough to not run into the dark corners of the abyss in fear and disgust.

Temples do exist around the city, though they do serve different purposes. For example, temples on the outskirts of the city, closer to the wraith fields (i'll... get to that... at some point. Also, wraith = shadow souls), are used for human occupants to sacrifice themselves to host wraiths, however those closer to the centre of the city are unable to do this, and so they will be used for other means of worship, which i won't go into right here bc it's religion talk. i'll save it for another post (potentially).

Large communities of Destroyer worshippers that live in their own villages and such do have access to the nether, though it can be rather... inconsistent. Doorways don't stay open forever, especially when made by weak magic users, so they will only have access every couple of weeks for a few hours at a time. However, this is enough for them. Messengers are sent back and forth, as are resources, materials, prisoners etc. These particular communities often have at least 1 knight within them, usually between 2-4, and the ones with more knights are considered more highly by other worshippers (hence why Cotk is one of the most well-known judge-worshipping communitiy, since there are 10 knights) and other knights will try and fill the space if one that inhabits an overwold village dies. The city is great but many knights do enjoy the freedom of the overworld, and ruling over their own small community.

They function very similarly to normal villages, except they don't have a lord. The hierarchy has humans that converted to the religion at the bottom, then the humans who were born into the religion, then the human priests and priestesses, then the Knights, then human prophets, and then Judge himself. The hierarchy within the Knights also exists, with 'heretic' (irene-worshipping) prem knights at the very bottom, and Judge's generals (usually mutated or magic-using knights who were born into the religion) at the very top. However, Knight hierarchy can be easily cheated, depending on how violent or cruel a knight is getting them landed higher on the pyramid than they are meant to be.

The human inhabitants of the over-world villages often act like normal people, except they have a more... peculiar relationship with death, and willingly send their dead to the abyss hoping they would be turned into knights (though that is often not the fate they meet). They also have a similar, though undeniably particular, culture to the city, with their own personal flairs and quirks.

The City within the Abyss functions similarly to that, of course, except the humans within the abyss are often thought of (and think of themselves) more highly than over-world humans, and are put on a similar level to low-level knights instead of on an entirely different tier. They are able to score a variety of jobs, however most humans try to get jobs in the temples, in the fortress, or trying to service the high-ranking knights however they can, as those are the more... high-value jobs they are able to achieve. They cannot get much higher, and if they show any potential to, they will be turned into knights to 'keep the balance'.

Prem knights are treated kinda like babies, and are always being spoken about as if they'll always end up killing their most loved individual. For the first few years, this is how it's spoken about, and then slowly, as the other knights begin to realise that they don't seem to be maturing any time soon, begin to accuse them of heresy and not being fully committed. Knights and humans alike will then try and pressure them into maturing, and if they don't bow to the pressure, will sacrifice them to Judge to display what a true knight should act like.

Prem knights that don't want to mature will then often run off outside of the city to try and find somewhere safe to live, but will often be eaten by wraiths before they even manage to past the Field. Those that do manage to cross will likely be eaten by something else that resides where the light of the cities fires cannot reach.

Wraiths are an Onmyōdō practitioner's version of a resident cockroach that refuse to leave the house. While it is technically harmless in nature, having it sneak and fly around aimlessly is not pleasant for one's heart.

So when you saw a half-bakeneko skirt behind the trees around Honda village, you quickly pulled out your headphones and pretended not to hear her. Human wraiths are emotional entities. You don't want to waste your time talking to a bakeneko to test if they're more unstable than your deceased kind.

But before you could even press play on the song "Fanthomless Swirls in the Forest", five dull claws began to weakly dig itself onto your ankle.

"H..lp..."

"You've been dead for more than a decade or so." You quipped, finally looking down at her. "There's nothing I can do for you, neko."

Her ears drooped down and her lips began to tremble. If wraiths could cry, she would've spilled enough tears for a traditional vulnerary.

"P...leA...Se..." She croaked, crawling on your worn out college shoes. "I jUst... wANt to teLl... My ███ i'M..."

You looked at your new memory lens.

It's definitely working, that's for sure.

You've never encountered a yokai like her before. Much like your ancestors, congenital positivity is something you've been "blessed" with. Spirits like her would normally shy away...

You wonder if Lord Kamisato tampered with this device.

"Even if I do want to help you, your father's all the way to Mondstadt, and he's probably dead unless you bakenekos are immortal."

Her grasp weakened. With that in mind, you took the opportunity to walk away unscathed.

You sighed as you finally reached the bus stop.

Some days, you wish there was a switch that let's you decide if you want to continue living as an exorcist or not. Most days, you wish you actually had the means to help these poor souls. But today, you just want to get some rest.

You don't know what danger this new memory lens poses. You need to return it back to Lord Kamisato soon, lest you'd find yourself with not just a bakeneko but an oni as well.

What your Au called? The one where you say the Hightowers are vampires and Jace is ghoul?

I call it (uninspiredly) the Hightower Vampires AU LMAO! I haven't posted anything about it beyond that Jace pic but I've got a few drabbles written set in it that I've got to polish and post. Think of it as loosely inspired by Netflix's Castlevania and Disney's Beauty and the Beast in worldbuilding, vibes and aesthetics.

Infodump under cut.

Jace's role in it was minimal but he's slowly taking over the whole thing. Basically Rhaenyra is a vampire in this as well and she's been told vampires can't carry children (normally ends in very painful miscarriages since they're undead) so when she gets pregnant and doesn't miscarry she takes it as a miracle/sign that she's still human in some way and refuses to abort it even when she knows she's going into uncharted territory and risking her own life. When the baby is born he seems human but she and Harwin (lover at the time, human) quickly discover that it's actually a ghoul, a creature of legend (even for vampires) that is regarded as wretched and monstruous (even by vampires) that will decay into a feral zombie-like form until it can consume human flesh. Rhaenyra takes offense with Harwin's hesitancy to accept Jace as he is and leaves him to raise him on her own.

Jace deeply resents his mother for birthing him and his father for rejecting him. He still counts himself as a vampire and believes in vampire supremacy even if he is scorned by other vampires (he doesn't know he will be, Rhaenyra hasn't told him, she's generally in denial about Jace's status as an abomination, he's her perfect little angel and won't hear otherwise).

When he reaches his canon age he meets Baela who is investigating the grave-robbings in her village. She's very badass and fights with a crossbow. She's training to be a vampire hunter. Jace falls in love with her. Rhaenyra believes they can convince her to drop her hate and accept them. Jace isn't so sure but agrees to try. I'm thinking of including a plot where her sister Rhaena (a witch) is attacked by the townspeople and Jace uses his supernatural abilities to help save her, but I'm still undecided over where their story will go.

As for the hightowers it's a long story but basically it's Otto, Gwayne and Alicent living in an isolated castle in the woods. Otto is a vampire lord several centuries old while Gwayne and Alicent are their canon ages (their mother was human). Otto is up to some nastyyyyy stuff and he's forced Alicent to participate in some of it while letting Gwayne remain innocent. There's been some kidnappings in a nearby village (different from the one where Jace and Rhaenyra are, which is much further away) and my OC Wraith is investigating them. Her investigation leads her to the castle so she pretends to be a hunter caught in the heavy rain seeking refuge. She also has a crossbow. She already suspected the people in the castle were vampires and confirms it shortly upon arrival. Poor Gwayne is so sweet and affection starved and doesn't suspect her and is just happy he made a friend. Alicent meanwhile is very suspicious of her (with good reason!). Criston is also in this but I've rambled enough I think.
