I like to think about buck and tommy after dinner, cuddling on the couch as they watch a movie (or documentary) and something in there reminds buck of an emergency they had and he starts to explain it to tommy and buck gets very enthusiastic so he ends up pulling away a little to talk with his hands and all of his body. and tommy just listens, legs lifted to rest on cushions and his hand supporting his head, his full attention on him as he rambles away. tommy can't stop smiling that smile of his as he listens to buck change the topic into a fun fact he learned recently. and he can't believe how lucky he is to have someone like evan buckley in his life.

Alright, so I've been a fan of Shane, Ryan and even Steven since their buzzfeed days and I've been watching this whole thing with Watcher moving their content over to their own streaming service debacle.

Like most ppl, I think it's a poor business move to alienate your fans like this, but I've been thinking on it more from maybe a financial perspective. I'm wondering how many people actually signed up for it. I saw a tiktok advertising expert say that the conversion rate for ads--meaning the number of ppl to actually buy something when they see an ad is about 1-5%. Like, right now they have about 2.8 million subscribers. And even though they've lost about 50K since and counting, they probably anticipated some loss. I'm sure they've mathed that if they just get at least like 100K conservatively out of their nearly 3 million fanbase to sign up, they'd be able to make $600K a month from their streaming service at six bucks a pop each month.

Maybe that's worth it? I'm not exactly sure how much they were making before. Ppl say they had 11K subscribers on patreon before but that's just their member total. Actual paid members was about 5K. But despite the controversy, their patreon member count has actually gone up. Today it sits at 12K members total with nearly 6K members paying. So they're making at least $30K-70K+ a month currently on patreon based on their offered tiers. not sure how much they were making on ad revenue alone or sponsors cuz I'm not sure how that stuff works on youtube. But maybe by their own accounting they think the loss of followers was worth it if they can hang on to that small, loyal but paying minority.

Another youtuber has pointed out that if you have a sponsor for a video and it's a one off, it can pay more. Up to $35K. So if that is the peak and they release 1 video a week, so 4 a month would be like 140K a month on sponsor money. And youtube pays about $10 per 1000 views a video, and they average 1 mil each video. So about $40K a month on views. So we can guess that they made about $180K a month currently on youtube (patreon and merch sales not included).

Honestly, if they can reach the goal of 1-5% of their subscribers converting to their streaming platform, yeah they probably would make more money in the long run. IF they can somehow manage to retain as well as grow those number of subscribers on their new platform. And don't forget, they don't plan to delete their current videos on their youtube channel so they'll still be earning revenue from those videos. We'll have to see I guess given how much goodwill they've lost with their audience.

Tbh, I am all for them trying to get paid more for their work but I also think they could have transitioned much differently, like only putting some exclusive content on their own platform while also posting free shows to youtube. Or maybe delaying releases for a week or a month for youtubers. or cutting back your production costs if it's really killing you cuz everyone has pointed out they liked the ghoul boys when it was just a black screen with text scrolling by saying "wheeze." Only time will tell if this move paid off for them.

But I'm not super knowledgeable on how the entire youtube thing works so if someone has some insight, feel free to weigh in.

steve warns literally everybody that eats in his car “i better not find any wrappers or crumbs that ain’t mine, and if i do, you’re fuckin’ dead.” and sodapop especially is naturally a bit forgetful. you know steve made him clean it out too, and then like you said, didn’t talk to soda for a week until soda apologized (without laughing cause he found the whole thing to be a bit ridiculous, but to each their own)

two bit frequently leaves his shit in steve’s car though—his car is littered with beer cans from two bit and he has belted him for leaving them in his car cause he doesn’t want his car to reek of beer. his house already reeks of it, what should his car? two also leaves fast food wrappers in there, which pisses steve off to no end because not only does his car reek of beer, but it also reeks of mcdonald’s or whatever they had. he cannot stand the smell of either of those things.

he’s not a neat freak by any means, but his car is his baby (and also sorta his second home cause he sleeps in there on cold or rainy nights) and he wants it to be clean. understandable tbh

Since we've firmly established Tim Minear and the 911 writers read fanfic, do we think that means he knows the opinions about Eddie’s ass? I only ask because it makes the Buck saying he checks out hot dudes asses sometimes very super pointed. (I just know it took all of Maddie's willpower during their discussion about Buck maybe being in love with Eddie to not ask whether Eddie was on the list of guys asses he'd checked out out of sheer frustration.)

It's canon to me regardless, but I just wonder how deep running this fanfic thing goes. How long were they compiling their Ao3 bookmark list in preparation for the steps towards canon Buddie.

starting to get frustrated that any time a person online expresses justified frustration about the current state of stadium ticket prices the response is some shit like "just see a local band for 10 bucks". yes you should see more local bands but, critically, big spectacle events are cool and being able to see a cherished live act or legacy band/artist you grew up with is too and these things used to be much more affordable!! like that was the whole fucking point is you could see someone in the nosebleeds and make a trade-off.

ANYWAY, here's some more of the fwb fic because it's the love of my life right now and nothing else in the world exists

“God, you really–It’s just so easy to get you horny.”

Buck wants to laugh at the way Eddie dramatically drags out the word so and widens his eyes to illustrate his point, but the laugh gets stuck somewhere between Buck’s gut and his throat, so he settles for a pout, poking out his bottom lip and grumbling even as he shamelessly leans back into Eddie’s touch to encourage Eddie’s petting.

“M’not gonna apologize for my very healthy an’ virile sex drive.”

Eddie makes a face while mouthing virile to himself.

Buck ignores him. “And what am I–what am I supposed to do, then? A hot guy blows smoke into my mouth and plays with my hair and what? What am I gonna do? Not–Not get hard? Don’t think so, bud.” He giggles to himself and bats his hand against Eddie’s broad, beefy chest in a gesture meant to communicate something but Buck finds himself not really knowing what that is.

Oh well. Better things to focus on. Like how warm he is and the thick stickiness in his veins and the lovely pressure in his chest and the blurriness of the world and the vividness of Eddie Eddie Eddie.

“A hot guy, huh?” Eddie asks with every bare inch of his mouth and teeth on display. It only barely distracts Buck from the darkening blush on Eddie’s cute cheeks. Buck kind of wants to gnaw on them. Maybe they really taste as sweet as they look.

“Mhmm,” Buck hums in answer, leaning forward until their foreheads touch and sighing a little at the contact. So many points of contact. Eddie’s hand in his hair. His hand on the curve of Eddie’s thigh. Their brushing brows and shared breaths. So good, but still not enough.

“That’s you,” he whispers while tipping his chin up to knock their noses together, saying it like it’s a secret Eddie should already know.

Eddie’s laugh is big and boisterous and beautiful.

The physicality of it fans across Buck’s jaw and he opens his mouth to get a taste of it, panting a bit just inches from Eddie’s own mouth which is split wide open. There’s no taste to it but oh how it settles comfortably in Buck’s chest, snuggling up against the pride that blooms boldly there.

If Buck never does anything else in the world other than make Eddie laugh, then it’s time well spent.
