not really super related to the depression post i rb’d either bc it’s extremely true but talking about the way certain mental illnesses are stigmatized compared to others gets me so fucking down sometimes. like i just think about how long i spent in the system getting sicker and sicker bc i had depression slapped on me as a kind of “we don’t know what to do with him” diagnosis and no medication worked bc the problem was like. Yeah. i did and do have depression. but you would be fucking depressed too if you were being abused! which was the more pressing issue!

and like now that i know what’s ACTUALLY wrong and that i have DID and will need to be treated for it, i have both a ton of medical trauma and relatively scant options for doctors and help compared to someone with a less rare and severe condition. and it’s such an edge case thing nobody pays attention except other people with your same problem. it’s so fucking frustrating how easy it is to fall through the cracks completely. AND I STILL HAVE THE FUCKING DEPRESSION ALSO. and have to deal with all this while barely able to coherently remember two days at a time. and also people think i’m a freak bc they watch too much tv. fucking hell world

this is a weird mix of old drama and meta, so if you want to skip the preamble, go to the text under the heading ‘love vs conquest’. the drama: ok so this speculative post about book!daenerys’ fate ended up being way more controversial than i ever expected. i was pretty blindsided by the response. the only reason i made it in the first place is because it was massive cope for the prospect that book!daenerys might end up getting killed off at the end. i got kind of cowed into believing this ending was an inevitability since i had received nothing but sneering derision from reddit bros for even suggesting daenerys might have a different course in the books and live. plus GRRM himself has said the general plot points are the same. etherealdany went on to accuse me of being a biased sansa stan, then even weirder, accused me of shipping sansa/daenerys in order to hide my bias & true “hatred” for daenerys or something. i don't even actively ship them, i just rb’d cute art of them once 🤷‍♀️

anyway, it was pretty much cope, because i thought the idea of dany dying heroically on her own terms to save the fucking world was a lot more palatable than her “going crazy” and getting murdered by her lover. don’t get me wrong, i understand how insulting that is. there’s still the problem of yet another female character dying for Man Pain(tm), the major protagonist of the series no less, but again... i was kinda just trying to come to terms with an ending i really don’t want and see if i could find anything salvageable in it. upon reflection, i shouldn’t accept something just because i became convinced it was inevitable. i still think etherealdany really overreacted and it’s wild that people defended them. imo, even if you think i had a garbage idea, you don’t have to insult my intelligence because of it or search for imaginary resentment i’m apparently harbouring over a fictional character. now, yeah, obviously asoiaf is known as a series where plenty of major characters die, none of them are safe etc. so the idea of her dying isn’t out of the question. but beyond loving daenerys as a character, my main reason for not wanting this ending for dany is fairly simple! it would be narratively unsatisfying -- and not in a good way. let me get into why. love vs conquest imo, the classic “want vs need” conflict for daenerys is her desire for the throne vs her need for love. she wants the throne because she’s been fed stories about targ supremacy/westeros by viserys, but what she really needs is what she’s been lacking her entire life precisely because of viserys’ dream: she needs to be nurtured and loved. despite what the show writers thought, dany doesn’t just want obedience. there’s a reason book!daenerys genuinely tries to make her betrothal & marriage to hizdahr work, while show!daenerys intimidates him by burning men alive in front of him, then only agrees to marry him after he's begged and pleaded on his knees for mercy. at the time, i think the show writers wanted to make this a certified Girl Boss moment because daenerys trying her hardest to be diplomatic just isn’t cool enough (lol), but they later covered their asses by pretending it was foreshadowing, actually, for her eventual ‘madness’. book!daenerys constantly laments how the people around her love her as a queen, not as daenerys. which........... come to think of it, is strikingly similar to sansa’s lamentation she may never find true love..................... they should kiss (joke). she repeatedly draws a clear distinction between the impersonal love of a ruler versus the romantic, passionate love she craves. hell, even after ser jorah forces a kiss on her, she blames herself for not wanting it and tries real hard to think of him as a potential lover. this obviously says a lot about the social dynamics of the world they live in, but i think it also speaks to her deep loneliness. ser barristan loves daenerys as a knight loves his queen, irri has sex with her because it’s what daenerys wants, and daario probably just wants her for her crown. even if his love is true, it’s telling that one of her biggest fears is that it may not be. and in my opinion drogo “loved” her mainly because she would bear the stallion that mounts the world & daenerys understandably has rose tinted glasses on when it comes to their relationship. book!daenerys’ fate: short story is: i think defeating the others will come after the destruction of king’s landing -- the destruction of which will be caused by the mad queen. except “the mad queen” isn’t daenerys, it’s cersei. joncon will also 100000% have a hand in this (and i have thoughts on how this will happen but to stop this from becoming an asoiaf-length post i’m gonna stay vague). so i believe daenerys will unintentionally destroy king’s landing, and in doing so, realise that conquest...... isn’t really... worth it. i think that dovetails pretty nicely with GRRM’s general views & his dramatically ironic twists. of course, her want vs need conflict could still align with the idea i wrote in my original post; daenerys could hear of the nissa nissa prophecy and sacrifice herself with longclaw, ignoring jon’s heartbroken protests, and turn longclaw into lightbringer. then she would die with the knowledge that someone finally truly and honestly loves her for her. tragic and sentimental af, which is in keeping with GRRM’s style.

but even if it happened in a less shitty way than the show, that doesn’t make it any less shitty. how about this instead: if daenerys finds love, realises it’s worth more to her than the throne, and is forever changed by this realisation, wouldn’t it be far more meaningful if she got to live with this drastic change? daenerys being nissa nissa’d would be akin to killing off jaime pretty soon after he had his hand cut off. like, sure, it’s not unthinkable, but wasn’t it a lot more narratively satisfying to read the way this event shook jaime to his core and transformed the trajectory of his life? or maybe a more apt comparison is sandor clegane. as far as we know, the hound is dead and his story is over. but the heavy implication george gives us is that sandor lives and finds peace in the quiet isles after the hound dies. and that’s... far more interesting to me?? the great thing is, it might not even be a stretch to say this will happen. as etherealdany helpfully pointed out, it could be argued that daenerys has already fulfilled the nissa nissa prophecy and lightbringer is drogon. this is a really cool idea and LORD i hope it happens. ultimately, i do still think her story will end in a bittersweet way with her riding off into the sunset on drogon’s back, all while being reviled as “the mad queen” by the masses. which, incidentally, would be a super interesting meta commentary on what the show writers did to her legacy & how people react to powerful women generally. but is george based enough to pull this off? who the fuck knows. i certainly hope so, but i’m not holding my breath.

I can’t speak to the 90s xmen stuff because my taste in animated shows is like. specifically that early 2000s era, with xmen evo and the animated justice league (unlimited) cartoons etc etc but the reason I love scott in evolution is because a) he’s a fucking dork. just a complete and total nerd who manages to say the weirdest shit imaginable with a straight face (I’m not sure if you’ve seen the “THEN TAKE IT RAW” scene but I’ve rb’d it several times on this blog so I encourage you to take a look if you haven’t already), b) hes very morally uptight but that doesnt always mean he agrees with his teammates (specifically there’s this scene where they’re doing a virtual training sequence and they programmed rogue to be the villain and he was Not Cool With It, even though at this specific time she was technically ‘The Bad Guy’) and seeing the contrast between what he thinks is Good or Right vs what Xavier and the others think is okay was really interesting, c) his relationships with the others? *chefs kiss* perfect. he’s a big brother in this show (can’t remember if he was older or younger than Alex in the movies or any other versions) and even though he believes Alex is dead for a good while in this show you can still tell he’s used to being a big bro cause he acts like it, especially w Kurt and kitty. It’s kinda sad to think about sometimes, yknow, that he had to grow up fast bc he lost his entire family at 10 yrs old so he’s Major Serious now but the younger members tend to bring out the kid in him and those moments have a special place in my heart. He’s incredibly loyal to the people he cares about and while it’s not always warranted & kind of stupid sometimes (cough cough, letting Alex convince him to trust magneto that one time, cough cough) it’s an admirable trait and it works in his favour a lot of the time, specifically when the xmen are trying to win over rogue (even though sometimes he tends to bulldoze over others in an effort to save his friends, regardless of whether or not they need it, he’s not an amazing listener at first but that changes with time lol), and d) it’s so much less annoying because he’s a teenager. the whole premise of this show is basically just the xmen but as kids except for Xavier, Storm & Wolverine, so all the stupid and/or annoying shit he does can be chalked up to him just being a dumbass kid. And it’s not as if he doesn’t learn from his mistakes or admit his faults because he does! He’s definitely bullheaded and he fucks up but he’s usually pretty good at admitting fault and moving on from it, which I was veryyyy relieved by. Like specifically his relationship with Rogue & Lance Alvers from the Brotherhood of Evil (yes that’s the actual name, I know it’s a ridiculously over-the-top, looney toons-esque kind of crazy, I still love it) is really interesting because you get the impression that Scott’s very set in this idea that people are (mostly) incapable of changing and so he’s very skeptical when Lance tries to initiate this whole courtship with Kitty, but when there’s inevitably a team up with the xmen and the brotherhood of dramatic names it ends with a sense of mutual respect from both scott and Lance… at least for that episode. With rogue it’s a bit different bc she’s not like looking to do harm, which scott recognizes (and I think he sees a bit of himself in her bc rogue is so lost when we’re first introduce to her and I can only imagine how he felt after losing his family & discovering he can shoot uncontrollable lasers from his eyes in the span of 24 hours) butttttt this is way too long already so I digress lol.

Again, don’t know much about the 90s cartoons but evo scott summers is wonderful, I loved the show when I was a kid and I still like it a lot even now :)

aww thank you!! i may’ve been a bit unclear with my tags dkskdndn sorry! tomb-less trio is actually a separate group from my sailor bois. i’m more than happy to answer for all six of them though!

10. What is the most important thing to them?

Nikolai: probably their mother’s locket. It was the only thing that he took with him when he ran away, and it’s the only memento they have of their parents.

Enok: easy, it’s his gloves! Else (his little sister) knitted him a pair of gloves before he left home. They are garishly pink and mangled beyond recognition, but Enok loves them so much and refuses to use any other.

Andrey: his dark green coat! Not only is it really comfortable, he got it from a fellow sailor on his very first crew without his father, so it also is a sort of symbol of the fact that he can be a successful sailor.

Nova: idk if it counts as a “thing” but her familiar Ash is definitely very important to her. Ash is an African Wood Owl and is the only person/thing that Nova’s had since the very beginning.

Ambrose: how can she possibly pick?? If she had to pick one thing, it would probably be her hair clip. She has had it ever since before she became a vampire, and it helps her keep a connection to her old life, even if it’s long gone.

Victor: his journal! it was a gift from his father, and it was the first thing that his father gave him that actually felt sincere. Victor never got along well with his dad, so it felt… special that his dad actually gave him a meaningful gift at least once. It also holds all the poems he’s ever written, which makes it all the more special.

11. Who is the most important person to them?

Nikolai: Nik’s answer to this changes with the wind. Pretty consistently it’s one of the other younger crew members on the Vulture (feel free to look into the au if you want! all the stuff i’ve rb’d of it is under “from the ship logbooks” and it would take waaay too long to explain here). Sometimes it’s Jack, and it’s usually Ernest whenever he’s willing to show Nik his sword collection. Nik doesn’t tend to think too deeply about this and pick one person. They have too many friends to pick just one “most important person.”

Enok: ummm his father? Enok was really close to his dad and misses him fiercely. Also up there is Else, they were always close as kids.

Andrey: already answered!

All the trio would answer with each other. When everyone around you ages and dies, it helps to have each other. Nova especially has a hard time getting close to people since she’s far older than either of the others. Ambrose does try and make friends, but she still has to hold herself back some so it doesn’t hurt as much when they’re gone. And Victor is too shy to really become close to anyone besides Nova and Ambrose. But yeah, all three are very close to each other.

(this was in response to the "name an oc and i'll tell you 10 facts about them" meme i rb'd a while back and now i have to own up and come up with some shit ajhdfbjdk)

for context, anon is asking about this guy:

so uh, here goes!!

1) he's really stoic and cool. strong silent type who doesn't talk much/very terse.

2) this is a coping mechanism, as he's actually very stressed/tired and wrestles with anxiety and self-loathing.

3) he's an italian-american, and he already doesn't talk about himself much, but he definitely doesn't like talking about his past/family. April thinks he's on the run from the mob, but that's for a later chapter.

4) as is not uncommon with people in his story, his hair and eye color has been affected by having a "duende" (basically incorporeal familiars that can have positive or negative effects on their hosts). he originally had black hair and brown eyes.

5) he was originally intended to be the antagonist of the series, but then i realized that was dumb because he didn't have any good motive, so he became a protag.

6) he makes his money as a graphic designer! which helps since (Yukure's income can be tenuous, and he doesn't trust April's money enough to take it from her.)

7) tying back to the self-loathing, Lyle smokes as a form of self-harm. also is self-medicating in a way, even if Arc isn't happy about it.

8) despite being very talented at picking up new skills, he's actually super NOT competitive. for example-- he's very good at fighting games, but he never really pursues it because he's not into the competition. he just wants to chill and have a good time.

9) after meeting Yukure, the two hang out pretty much all the time. partly because Yukure gets use out of Lyle's unique ability to sense when other people have duende (which is good for Yukure's job), but also cuz they just vibe together.

10) part of the reason he wears the giant shades is because he doesn't want his pupil-less lilac eyes to freak anyone out, but also because another side-effect of him having a duende is photo-sensitivity. meaning between that and the internalized stress, it's not uncommon for him to get headaches.

Favorite story you’ve written so far: you think this world is a dream come true (but you’re wrong) for sure! It’s super niche but it’s something I wrote out of love for a movie I discovered this Halloween and absolutely love. Though all you’ve got to do is want something (and then let yourself have it) is a close second. Basically, anything I write that sounds absolutely bonkers as a concept is one that I love 😂 (and it’s no coincidence that both fics are Mai-centric! I love all my Mai-centric fics nearly equally)

Fic you were nervous to post: Is there an “all of the above” option? 😂 I’m always nervous to post. But in particular, I was nervous for if you ran away (come back home), because it was Mai-centric and longer than any one-shot I’d written thus far, and also you think this world is a dream come true (but you’re wrong), because it’s Mai-centric and a Coraline AU, which makes it BONKERS as an idea

Why was I nervous to post Mai-centric fics, you ask? Two reasons: 1) Mai is very different from who I am as a person (I vibe a lot more with Aang and Ty Lee, sometimes Katara and Sokka), so I didn’t want to upset the Mai stans by writing her incorrectly. 2) Mai is generally not well-liked in the fandom at large, so I especially didn’t want to attract antis who would accuse me of writing Mai as too emotional and loving (which is why I tried to justify that in my tags). Luckily, my comments have all been lovely, and I’m far less afraid to post fics about her now that I’ve written three fics with her as the focus! And the shoutout from @nonbinary-crafter-aang praising my portrayal of her?? I was touched 🥺 still am

Do you outline: Ehh...define outlining 😂 for my one-shots, nope. But for my upcoming multichap works (see below) and Nanowrimo work (original fiction, so I won’t talk about it on here, but send an ask if you’re curious), YES ABSOLUTELY!

For my Nanowrimo work and one of my upcoming AUs (a Soulmate AU), the worldbuilding is so complex that it’s an absolute necessity. For the other upcoming AU (a time travel AU), there are just too many things that need to happen at certain times so as not to interfere with canon events, and things I want to change from canon and things I want to keep...I think you get the idea 😂

Complete: Basically my entire maiko halloweek series! Check it out if you want some fics about the most underrated canon ATLA couple :)

In-progress: ...En Hamilton Heights again...but not for long, sadly. Still trying to decide between a quick conclusion and just flat-out orphaning it. Still haven’t made up my mind, but either way, it won’t be what I originally planned, unfortunately.

I’m also counting my ATLA Soulmate AU on the basis of forever in my mind (only you), which has the worldbuilding and fits into the AU without much problem (the AU is going to be a series of one-shots, not a multichap fic, because there won’t be enough deviations from canon imo to justify multiple chapters. And one-shots are just less pressure for me 😂)

[EDIT 12/12/2020: added another fic because I’m an idiot and forgot about this too 🤦‍♀️😂 it’s a year-old idea that I started writing but I’m picking it back up thanks to the Heist banter in MatPat’s St Jude stream!]

-A fic series combining Escape the Night and Who Killed Markiplier (Heist and Date are part of it too, but only tangentially at the moment. Depends on how involved I want DA Y/N to be). Tentatively titled A Heavy Cost, and definitely won’t happen in any of Mark’s projects, but in a way that’s actually for the best 😂 the canonicity for me stops at ETN S3 (with some S4), then it’s canon divergence

Coming soon/not yet started: OOOH YESSS HERE WE GO

Okay okay sooo we’ve got two main things:

–An ATLA Soulmate AU, featuring platonic and romantic soulmates! I know I called it in-progress, and I stand by that even though I haven’t actually set up the series on AO3 yet, but this AU is about to be SO MUCH MORE than just a few Maiko moments. Because...drum roll...it’s gonna be entirely Aang-centric (with maybe one or two exceptions)! Like Mai, Aang is a character that doesn’t get as many -centric fics as he should (and being an Aang stan also isn’t unanimous for some reason??), so I’m gonna fix that. Plus I want to dive further into his mind, and I think I’m more equipped to do that than I was with Mai, since Aang and I are very similar in attitude.

–Bumizumi time travel AU, which can be read as platonic until the last couple chapters (it’ll be multichap) but definitely has a romantic agenda throughout. So just. Be warned if you don’t ship them. It’s gonna be chock full of comedy and antics! Also A LOT of platonic affection between Izumi and teen Zuko (and just between Izumi, Bumi, and the Gaang in general), because platonic affection is underrated and also I can :D I’m also probably gonna make fun of how some elements of affection have become solely romantic territory, because...um, no, hugging and holding hands and cuddling can be done between friends, thanks! (Maybe it’s the ace in me talking. But regardless)

There are also vague concepts I’m spitballing, like:

-Zukaang telepathy AU (Platonic Zukaang, the only romance I’ll ever write in ATLA is for the canon ships, prompted by a dream because apparently ATLA lives in my head rent-free forever now 😂)

-Evil Zuko AU (Azula doesn’t exist, mostly prompted after watching Aang make fun of Zhao and realizing that if Zuko had been in any position of power during the War...the Gaang would have stood no chance at all)

-Bumizumi Arranged Marriage AU (Bumi and Izumi both think the other is hotheaded/reckless (Izumi @ Bumi) or uptight (Bumi @ Izumi). So Kataang and Maiko (along with Sukka, Ty Lee, and Toph because...duh) set them up in an arranged marriage, with the presented reasoning being that they already know each other’s families, it’ll be a great symbol of unity, and this way Izumi doesn’t have to worry about suitors. They both agree to it (it’s arranged, not forced), and over time, they warm up to each other...and maybe even...fall in love?? Prompted because we need more arranged marriage fics! On that note, I’m gonna plug shadows and steel by @dearestpartnerofgreatness because arranged marriage needs more rep and this fic does it and with Maiko to boot!)

-Zukaang as Brothers AU (I saw a fic about this, but it wasn’t complete. If it’s not done by the time I get to this concept, I’m gonna write it, because just...imagine the possibilities! Zuko and Aang are already basically brothers in canon anyway, this is just making them brothers in blood as well as in their hearts. This is especially vague because I have no concept of how this is gonna work 🤷‍♀️ I’ll get to it eventually)

-A fix-it fic based on May You Always Be Satisfied, a backstory fic for Who Killed Markiplier by @blackaquokat! I recently reread it and remembered that I was gonna write a fix-it for that fic. Not because the fic sucks, it’s actually amazing! I’m just a sucker for the main (requited unrequited) pairing, and there’s at least five ways to make that pairing canon and avoid the mess of Who Killed Markiplier. And THEY ALL DESERVE TO BE HAPPY OKAY

-A Finnrey fix-it for the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy (this one is especially vague, and I probably won’t write it since a bunch of these already exist, but it’s fun to think about. Maybe if I ever run out of WIPs 🤷‍♀️)

Upcoming story that you’re most excited to write: I’m equally excited for the Soulmate AU and the Bumizumi Time Travel AU! I’m also excited for my Nanowrimo work to be finished, but that’s more so in-progress than upcoming

(1/2) I've looked through LOTR Appendix B for anything contradicting UTs account of the Silvan population and movements and I can't find anything. I also don't see in the Appx. B when Galadriel came to rule Lorien? Can you help me out please? Also, for a non-UT source for how Sindarin displaced Silvan, Appx F 'Of Elves,' note#1

(2/2) ALSO ALSO, totally agree with you that the Sindar are not the 'less problematic elves uwu' that the fandom generally treats them to be! When I rb'd the other version, grouping the Sindar and Noldor together, I interpreted it as "groups who speak primarily sindarin," and not as "both of them are equally to blame" which is my bad, you're right to be upset about that.

So I can totally 100% cop to the fact that I was Heated when discussing Sindarin/Silvan relations, and there are a lot of reasons for that. I promise I wasn’t really angry, just very enthusiastic, lol

It mostly comes down to the fact that I dislike the tendency to treat the Sindar as less bad than the Noldor when I headcanon them both as equally bad in different ways. I also dislike the argument that the Noldor had a hand in the colonization of Lothlórien/that Galadriel was an active colonizer of the silvan elves and this is undisputed Canon. To me, a more accurate explanation is that in a pretty pivotal draft of the story, she was the one who founded it and was thusly responsible for the decline of Silvan culture/language but that this is explicitly counter to the account in The Tale of Years that Tolkien himself approved of and sent to the publisher. (I’ve seen this idea floating around fandom without the additional information that clarifies that more than one version exists, and it’s often used to contrast her against Oropher, The Good Guy, who totally didn’t do anything bad ever in his life. This is frankly one of my biggest pet peeves, as Oropher’s occupation of Greenwood and establishment of himself as King and subsequent treatment of the silvan elves in the Last Alliance bothers me way more than any other action taken against the silvan elves in the entirety of the Legendarium. But that’s my personal opinion and of course others have different takes on the text.)

The problem I have with Unfinished Tales and specifically The History of Galadriel and Celeborn is that since its explanations of who founded Lothlórien, and when, and why, are all incorrect when compared to LotR, that renders basically everything dealing with Lothlórien in this section to be... well, Fraught. How can we say for certain that the accounts it gives are completely accurate, etc.? Of Elves is a much better source imo, since again it comes back to “well Tolkien himself sent this to the publisher”, and I hadn’t read it recently enough to be sure of what it discussed so thank you for clarifying!

For me, it’s less of a dispute that these things happened, because they did and they do constitute canonical imperialism of some kind, and more that I get annoyed with the assumption that the Noldor had to be involved. By the Second Age, and especially by the time that Silvan displacement was well underway, the Noldor really weren’t present enough in regional politics for this to be connected to them. Ost-in-Edhil as a cultural center and Lindon as a capital are pretty removed from Lothlórien (and OiE had pretty clear aims that were distinct from any sort of ambition to rule and expand) and extremely removed from Greenwood, and neither of those realms aimed to be particularly inclusive of the Noldor other than Galadriel. The question of her ethnicity and identity is frustrating because I think that she definitely did assimilate and it was to a degree that led her to reject her family names and perhaps claim ‘Galadriel’ as a cilmessë? But that’s a matter of debate for another post.

Anyway thank you for your response! I hope this makes some degree of sense.

I think that in this modern times the word "white" has become a synonym of "from a first-world country" because the majority of the population in the main first-world countries is white, (I didn't design the phenotype 🤷🏽‍♀️). So it's not completely accurate, but it's the second-best and shorter option, I suppose.

Then again, it is very rare to find a kind of oppression specifically inflicted over white people. That's not saying bigotry and disdain for interracial couples doesn't exist and doesn't invalidates that issue, but the OG post you're mentioning indeed had oppression as its main focus.

It's no secret the U.S. is going through some tough times, and I do try to be as sympathetic as possible considering their issues are taking place in a country that is not my own. Nevertheless, my U.S. friends are being affected by these problems, and if they are as emotionally shook as they are, then I can't claim my problems are worse than theirs, because each of us lives through the difficulties in a different way.

But... I am human. I can get angry. Especially when I feel even the people I consider my friends are throwing a fit over a problem that I see rather mild compared to mine.

I've already said that I hate the "minimum wage" discourse because at least in your country you can get your wage increased without the prices of the food and first need products being increased as well. In my country, our minimum wage is increased fairly often, the problem is that every time it does our currency devalues itself for the reason that we don't count with the emergency funds to give that much money without retribution, so the price of everything else also has to increase to continue the cycle. It's a constant chase and a permanent reminder that it doesn't even matter how hard you try, you will never be able to afford food for more than a week.

Yes, it must be difficult to not count with affordable healthcare, but at least your country has doctors. Mine doesn't. Or rather, my city and most of the other states don't. Most of the doctors left the country faster than the rats left the Titanic when Venezuela started becoming... what it is today. (Smart guys, huh? 😏 They earned that diploma.)

Yes, it must be annoying to have two-hours-long internet outages every now and then, but at least your country doesn't have 6-days-long complete blackouts with the communications, the water, and the domestic gas being totally cut off.

And it's not that I appreciate my friends any less, but every time I talk about these stuff their answers are either "I'm sorry", "No bueno", "Mad respect for you" and we just proceed to talk about something "happier".

This is what happened during the other blackouts:

People looted all stores and malls looking for something to eat and abandoned houses for somewhere to sleep. I sleep every night knowing that if the situation presents itself, there'll be a pretty good chance someone comes through my window and kill me and my mom in our sleep to take our house as if it was theirs. I have to be ready to sleep with a knife next to my bed like I did the first times.

And no offense to anyone but they don't make the effort to relate, they don't ask people the background of everything that's happening in their suffering countries, they just make assumptions and repeat propaganda and when we do tell them how things really are, they tell us to shut up because they know more about these stuff.

im not a political expert so i dont rly want this rb’d and take what i say w a grain of salt or w/e but from what i understand the problems people have w reform are in most negotiations you have to push further past what you think is possible because you’ll be talked down to compromise for less (and too many reforms are already shooting for less), and also reforms often feel like bandaid solutions that can just push the problem along without fully solving it, longer. its like in theory yeah i understand why progressively slowing things down til they stop seems like a good idea or at least the most *workable* solution to be *realistic*, but sometimes its like, if it does work, it doesnt work well enough. ppl have been pushing for abolition all week, getting the idea to more people, and now its actually being discussed.

also this is why i cant be a politician or a serious activist who makes plans to activate change, i dont understand everything on that level, but what i do feel is harm reduction that still allows some harm always feels like too much harm for me, its why i distrust most politicians period, even if they kill *less* people or ruin *less lives*, and why most arguments that guilt trip over voting and stuff rub me the wrong way. i do think its our civic duty to vote, and it is always better to vote for the lesser of two evils, but i also think acting like peoples concerns w the available candidates are stupid is kinda insulting, and also now that more people have first hand experience being gassed and brutalized by these so called more progressive voted in officials it feels even more insulting. but i dont have a perfect solution to any of these problems which is what i mean when i say idk how to be a politician or serious activist. im just a frustrated gay trans artist who wants capitalism abolished and people to not be killed anymore. and i think a lot of people might be like me which is why a lot of people feel insulted by ideas that are harm reduction compromises, not harm elimination mandates

What inspired you to rp your muse?  —  twipri has been my favorite video game of all time since i first played it the xmas after it came out, when i was 7. it was an unbelievably huge influence on my life, and got me through a whole lot of shit i’d have to go through up until i was a teenager. it was a constant for me, a comfort. and link, being the protagonist, was of course the center of it. i connected to him really hard, and becoming him whenever i played the game was like magic to me as a kid. honestly, i dont know why i didnt write him until this year, because he’s been such an easy headspace for me to slip into for years. ig i just figured it was about time? id already written both tp zel and midna at separate points, so it was only right to complete the trio ksjfgh

What keeps your inspiration going?  —  the game itself, its soundtrack, art, linked universe and its little fandom, and you guys! just seeing all of your posts and your passion for loz and its characters helps fuel the love i have for it too!

Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors?  —  mm i don’t mind it, but i don’t really see the point. rp is a form of writing that doesn’t need much editing, and when it does, we are our own editors, so of course we’re going to make mistakes and overlook them. english is a complicated and hard language, and typos/misspellings/grammar errors happen and it’s not a big deal

Do you think you are easy going as a mun?   —  yes!! i’m a very laid-back person in general i think, and of course i have things i won’t tolerate and i’ll speak up when i need to, but at the end of the day rp is a hobby, and it’s something we do to have fun, and i know that having fun is the most important part of doing this. though, sometimes i think my anxiety & fear of confrontation might make me a little too lenient on things like my own rules tho kjfhg

Character Tuesday - Mercy

I guess this is a few themes late, but seeing as @homesteadchronicles rb’d the Moodboard for this and gave me some encouragement, I finished it. :) I had more planned but sometimes less is more. I’m in a bit of a creative slump right now so this was nice. Hiding behind a read more because it’s long-ish and I actually have a computer now

World: Into Technology

The kid looked up. Elden scowled and bit back a curse. He’d thought that he moved along silently enough that nobody could hear him. But the kid’s eyes cut through the darkness and landed right on him. They narrowed.

Elden held still, hoping that the shadows of the underside would hide him. He thought he had a decent chance - the underside was filled with crisscrossing pipes and wires and infrastructure that hadn’t exactly been well-planned. The kid and Elden were separated by a lattice of metal and plastic. Not exactly prime visibility down here.

Elden held his breath as the kid leaned forward on his haunches, peering into the shadows. He felt his heart pounding beneath his sweatshirt, making the strings over his chest quiver the tiniest amount. A neon light to his right burned, and it could block the kid’s vision or make Elden all the more obvious. Either way, Elden wasn’t about to move.

The kid leaned too far. His arms shot out, pinwheeling, but he fell off his perch. Elden winced. The underside lacked solid flooring, for the most part, though people who lived here sometimes bolted in sheets of metal or wood where they could. This wasn’t one of those places.

The good news was that the kid didn’t fall too far, just a few feet. The bad news was that his leg got caught as he fell, and Elden heard the bone creaking. He half-stood before he realized what he was doing. To his credit, the kid didn’t cry out, but his breathing hitched and came faster.

This was Elden’s chance to leave. He bet that the kid was too distracted to notice if Elden was there or not. He turned to go.

The kid let out a high pitched keening noise, not quite a scream, but not quite a sob, either. He shifted, trying to lift himself up, but gave up after half a second.

“Hey, Renna?” the kid said, tears evident in his voice. “I’m kinda stuck.” Elden paused. Help would be coming. The kid was fine.

“How long?”

Elden’s eyes flicked between the kid, who was laying in a pool of soft light, and his escape route. The sounds of distress wormed into Elden’s brain, making his brain remember things that he really didn’t want to remember. He knew all too well the desperate struggle of keeping sounds in. He didn’t count himself a friend of pain, not by a long shot, but they were acquainted. Elden hated it. Flames danced in his periphery. Elden had escaped that, just a few days ago; could he really allow someone else to suffer when he could help? The kid’s friend was apparently a few minutes out, at least. More than enough time.

Fine, he told himself. Fine, fine, fine.

Before he could change his mind, Elden abandoned the path further into the darkness. He tugged his hood further over his face and picked out a route between him and the blond kid, climbing over clusters of wire and between pipes. The underside was haphazard, and one missed foothold could send you falling, potentially the entire way to the surface. Elden chose his steps carefully, making it to the bolted-on sheet of scrap metal that the kid had fallen to.

The kid looked up at Elden with confusion, rather than the surprise he’d expected. Elden didn’t say anything. This job would be fast, and he’d never see the kid again. Fine with him.

Elden crouched next to the fallen kid, noting the twist of his leg and how it had fallen. He felt the kid’s eyes on him, but avoided looking at his face as he carefully turned and lifted the leg out of the crevice it had been rammed in. The kid flinched. Elden kept his hands steady and lowered the leg, though he didn’t let go. He pushed the jean leg up to get a better look at the injury. Under his hands, the kid tensed.

With a grounding breath, Elden focused. The kid’s ankle looked swollen and discolored, typical for a stretched or torn ligament. He reached out with the weird sense, the one that wasn’t touch but felt /inside/ someone. If Elden had to describe it, he’d say that it felt like seeing and feeling the muscles and sinew and bones of someone, only he didn’t really see or feel it. He just knew it. Through that, Elden could tell that the kid had stretched his ankle’s ligament. Good thing, too, anything much worse and Elden wouldn’t be done soon enough.

He’d learned this by doing it on himself, so he knew the strange pins-and-needles sensation well. The kid seemed to understand that Elden wasn’t going to hurt him, so he took the weird feeling with only a little squirming. With that extra sense, Elden could move bits of someone back to where they were supposed to be. He didn’t know where the talent came from, only that it kicked in years ago without him thinking about it. Bruises cleared up and bones grew the way they were supposed to - he could feel his body moving around as it happened.

Wherever it came from, Elden certainly put it to good use. He hoped he wouldn’t have to often, though. Avoiding injury was much better than healing it.

The kid spoke when his ankle was almost done. His voice startled Elden out of his trance.

“You’re weird, too,” the kid said.

Elden blinked. “What?” Then he turned his head away from the kid and hoped that his face was too deep inside it to be seen.

“Weird,” repeated the kid, voice trembling but I afraid. “I can tell. You’re like us.”

Elden couldn’t pretend that the kid referenced something other than the supernatural ability to heal being exhibited at the moment. He had to loosen his throat consciously to speak.

“Us? You can heal?”

“No, but... uh...” A tinny, nearly inaudible sound came from the kid’s ear. After a brief glance, Elden determined that he wore some kind of communication device, and that his “friends” were talking to him. “They don’t want me to tell you much.”

Figured. Secrets were fine. Elden didn’t want to get involved, anyway.

“Okay.” Elden went back to focusing on the kid’s ankle. The process was nearly complete, and the kid would be as good as new.

“But Dami,” whined the kid a moment later, presumably to the someone in his ear, “we can trust him. I do!” Elden couldn’t make out the response.

“Fine. Do it your way.”

Panic rose in Elden’s chest at the simple statement. He didn’t know what it was, but something told him to get out of there. Luckily, the kid’s ankle was done. Elden released it as soon as he could, then jumped up, followed closely by the kid doing the same.

“Wanna meet my friends?” he said with a smile as he tested his healed ankle.

“I’m not sure if that’s a good idea,” responded Elden, turning to make a hasty escape. A convenient ladder was only a few feet away, leading somewhere that Elden hoped sane people wouldn’t follow. He didn’t want to think about what that implied for him.

“Try not to stress that ankle out for a few hours, at least,” he added, one hand on the ladder rung.

Then someone jumped him.

so like hes growing weaker right? yeah hes kinda alternating between “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I NEED POWER” and “AAAAAAAAAAAAA I HAVE POWER AHAHAHAHA” and he doesnt like that he’d much rather just be him or more powerful because fuckin YEHA POWER 

so this story ends two ways. fire spirit trying to get his powers back and failing (dustyass lord of ass who looks pretty nice frankly i like the colors a lot to be honest but thats just becuase devsis is making me emosexual. it started with crescent moonlight then fire spirit idk about night raven for sure but oh well)

OR 

dark enchantress. hes like “hurr dburr doesnt corruption make you stronger in a way” and ends up getting “corrupted” but instead since hes already so chaotic neutral he only gets stronger (i stole this from another post i probably reblogged) like the person i rb’d mentioned the horn thing that tommy who is big love de mentioned to because tommy loves dark enchantress and thats about all i know about tommy they also love wasabi and its understandable

im not gonna rant and talk about my internet life so ANYWYAS

fire spirit keeps the same runes yeah? so . yeehaw? idk what to make of that i just thought it was interesting how theyre basically all the same. 

frankly dustyass edgelord is my favorite of the two costumes and im glad i had 15,280 guild coins saved up but now im too broke for the jelly set o-o 

do we even get any fire spirit lore or are we watching him almost die in the event 

oh well i guess BUT fire spirit is really prtty in all his forms the least favorite of mine is god of flame but i still love it of course but really could be better. like. yeah thats a lot of fire and i cant handle the heat and its pretty but its bright and im kinda edgy o-o 

so that explains my preference plus im broke on the internet money i have 20 dollars irl might ask my grandma if she can help me buy fire spirit costume 

almost crying every time i see edgy ass his wings have a little capelike thing and its kinda holey and its beautiful and edgy i should edit him with vampire and he also looks sorta confident

OK BACK TO HTE FOCUS HOW THIS TIES IN WITH FIRE SPIRITS OVERALL STORY SO 

ok bear with me 

fire spirit wants to be powerful, of course. from the start. as not fire spirit yet maybe sweet potato but who knows besides himself and maybe devsis idk, he becomes fire spirit! trading off whatever the bored dragon wanted so fire could get stronger. 

also proof of fire spirit being a powerlover is very much in his relationships . knight and wind ! sea fairy’s is about his hair which is “fire” magic i suppose what kind of hair conditioner does he use

ANYWAYS

over time his flames are starting to go wild becuase of all this CORRUPTION in the cookie kingdom and around and its making his magic funky becuase thats just a random thought i just had like what if corruption messed with magic? imagine that. so hes alternating between too weak and too strong and he doesnt understand so he heads to dragons valley all like “heyo whats the answer” but nobodys there

i havent finished the event but hes basically just looting every dragon he’s ever known like what they left behind? his now 

maybe the dragons will come back home.... .. . . pl eas....... i miss them

the thing about two possible ends of fire spirit 

the first end is dark enchantress finding him then boom ur corruption only makes him chaotic good instead of chaotic evil 

(chaotic tends to not follow or give regards to law. chaotic good breaks the law for people, neutrals just do whatever they want for themselves, and chaotic evil goes out of their way to hurt others)

so like 

dark enchantress doesnt know how to take this, right? her magic failed her for once. fire spirit is going batshit crazy becuase hes like “WOAHAHAHAHAH HAHHAHH H H HH H H IM STILL SUPER STRONG :OOOO” and then he goes even MORE batshit crazy and maybe burns down a town or something becuase hes going wild from the power but then he calms down 

he’d probably be willing to do things for dark enchantress if it were a deal or something but lord of flames might not go all the way out to kill tree like what the fuck

ALSO

LORD OF ASHES is probably NOT AS WARM AS FIRE SPIRIT who is already somewhat huggable if ur not fuckin uhh water or ice or if u dont like being a little warm ANYWAYS LORD OF ASHES is HUGGABLE becuase being weak makes him cool down and so you can hug the edgelord (which i would totally do if he were real and not a cookie) 

i like to repeat myself a lot but its almost 5 am anywaysy uhhh im going to talk about his personality 

so hes like really energetic of course and very chaotic neutral he just do what he wana do hes like “finders keepers!” and he probably enjoys showing off his power to other cookies. praise makes him more happy than others and he has a very high ego that can only be doused by less power. the more powerful he is, the more egotistical he is. lord of flames is a fucking pain to be around if you dont wanna listen to him brag about accomplishments and thats the only reason he doesnt work for de 

lord of ashes is a downer and kinda sad but he still has a little bit of fire spirit in him hes basically just “you gotta die sometime” but hes not gonna die becuasei  wont allow it hes only allowed to die in a completely comedic way like he tries to hug wind and hten actual wind blows and he gets thanos snapped by the air and wind is like “OH FUCK OH SHIT” and all that’s left as a relic is his gem and wind archer tries to fix it and fails though who knows maybe hes night raven because in hte game night raven came before lord of ashes so???!? !?!? !? ?!? 

night raven walks up to lord of ashes “bitch im going to fucking kill you” then blows lightly and fires just like “oh noooo aww shit here we goooooooooooo again” and hes just a gem now 

maybe fire spirit causes the next mass extinction as lord of flames because hes like “DSKLJFS KLJ*(UJIORWKSFOR IEKANHWOI JSKFN IJDLASKSF IM SO POWERFUL AHAHAH HUAJKAKL JKLA JAH HA HAHL HAH AH HAH HAH HHAH AH HAHAH A *JUMPS INTO A VOLCANO AND BLOWS THE FUCKING WORLD UP*”
