in ho protecting fem¡reader when she gets attacked during the fights that break out at night?
IN YOUR ARMS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing — hwang in-ho/young-il x reader
synopsis — when screams and people being murdered during the night could be heard, in-ho finds himself staying close, protecting you from other players, especially from one who has constantly been nagging at you.
warnings — blood, violence, murder, swearing, age gap, 20’s reader, 40’s in-ho, spoilers for s2, ooc!in-ho, soft!in-ho, obsessive!in-ho, might have mistakes
wc — 1.5k
AN — made him a tad bit obsessive bc he’s hot
Tumblr media
from the very moment in-ho had laid his eyes on you, he was taken aback. you seemed so delicate, pure, and everything just seemed good about you.
and that was when he promised himself he would look after you.
he would allow himself to get distracted by you, his sole purpose was to find out gi-hun’s plans but he would always manage to find ways to include you. especially in conversations that didn’t even relate to you.
yes, he knew it was unprofessional of him, favouriting a player when the games were supposed to be fair and equal but he can’t help himself when he would mouth off to the guards to give you extra food, he even had them pack you your favourite meal after he found out what it was the night before.
in-ho was becoming obsessed with you and he let it happen.
that night after another voting had been done which ended in a tie, a fight had broken out between the two sides. men came out from the bathroom with blood coating some of their tracksuits and in-ho watched as your eyebrows furrowed, that look you did that had him weak in the knees, making you look as if you were a kicked-aside puppy.
soon both teams were gathered on their own sides, the both of them counting down how many players they have.
“two out of five. that means they lost three people.” a girl informed you all, whilst another—player 380 spoke up.
“then we have a better shot at winning the vote tomorrow.”
“hey, it’s 48 against 47.” jung-bae whispered. “as long as we don’t change our minds, we’ll win by one vote!” he exclaimed and everyone around you agreed quietly.
you glanced towards in-ho, or as you knew as ‘young-il’, and whispered to him, a smile plastered onto your face. “hey, we’ll be going home tomorrow…aren’t you excited?”
young-il snapped out of his gaze and looked back at you. there was silence before he smiled back and nodded. truthfully, in-ho couldn’t imagine letting you go, he would find you either way.
the PA voice spoke up along with the sound of a school-like bell ringing. “attention, please. lights out in 30 minutes. all players, please return to your beds and prepare for bedtime.”
after a few more words with everyone on your side, you all separated from each other. however, as the other group separated too, you could see them staring back at you all as they walked, gi-hun having noticed this as well.
you shivered and felt as your body slowly began feeling uncomfortable, but your hand was soon grabbed by young-il as he offered you a reassuring smile and walked with you.
Tumblr media
before bedtime, you were sitting with your group as usual. “those bastards are acting suspicious. it’s like they’re up to something.” dae-ho began and you quickly nodded in agreement.
“right? they were staring at us the whole time when they walked past, gave me the shivers…” you mumbled as young-il patted your shoulder while jung-bae scoffed.
“whatever those idiots do, once we win the vote tomorrow, it’ll all be over.”
“you think we’ll be okay? they say things were really crazy in the bathroom earlier.”
you looked down and fiddled with your fingers before looking back up to gi-hun when he spoke. “once the lights go out, people on the other side will attack us.”
in-ho watched as you did that face again. his heart thumping in his chest as he did, completely ignoring everyone else as they spoke.
“really?”
gi-hun nodded. “because if they kill us, they’ll be able to win the vote and increase the prize.”
“so what do we do?”
in-ho focused back on the conversation, shifting slightly before voicing his thoughts. “let’s attack them first. they’re probably thinking we’ll just wait for the second vote. we can use it to our advantage. we’ll attack them first once the lights go out.”
“that’s right. it’d be better to attack them first. we have more women and elderly on our side, if we get attacked we’ll be at a disadvantage. attacking them first would give us a better chance of winning.” 049 began with a player agreeing before gi-hun interrupted.
“we can’t do that.”
in-ho feigned confusion and stared at gi-hun. “but we have to get out of here. you said it yourself, saying calm won’t get us anywhere now.”
“that doesn’t mean we should kill each other. that’s exactly what they want us to do.”
furrowing your brows again, you leaned in a bit and looked at gi-hun with that confused look of yours. ““they?””
“those who created this game. those who watch us play. if we’re going to fight someone, it should be them.” he explained.
“where are they?”
gi-hun looked up causing the other players and you to do the same, except for in-ho. “up there.” he looked back at in-ho and continued. “on the upper levels are the rooms they control the games from. the man in the black mask is their leader. once we capture him, we’ll be able to win.”
in-ho pressed on, finally hearing gi-hun’s plans. “how are we going to fight them? they have guns.”
“we’ll fight them with guns too.”
“…um, but we don’t have any, mr gi-hun…”
gi-hun glanced at you and nodded. “we’ll take their guns.”
“from the masked men?”
gi-hun nodded again at the other player as in-ho spoke once again. “that’s too dangerous. even if we manage to take a few guns, we’ll still be outnumbered.”
“what then?” gi-hun retorted looking around at everyone whilst he continued. “are you going to kill each other all night and hope you survive? is that what you want, young-il?”
the two stared each other down before their attention was put onto hyun-ju. “do we…stand a chance?”
“we do if we catch them off guard. out of everyone, they’re the ones who would at least expect us to attack first.” you nodded along and listened. “this is our last chance to end these games once and for all.”
“how are you going to take their guns?”
you couldn’t help but think how serious young-il seemed, almost as if he was interrogating gi-hun.
“once the fight begins tonight, we’ll have our chance.”
“lights out in five minutes.”
a lullaby began playing from the speakers as the timer ticked, counting down the five minutes.
Tumblr media
as soon as the lights turned off, young-il had taken your hand and got you underneath the bed.
screams erupted from your side and you flinched, staying close to young-il while covering your eyes.
it was dark and the screams didn’t help along with the sounds of people getting stabbed, a small whimper left you and young-il gently shushed you.
unbeknownst to both of you, a man who had been constantly harassing you as his way of ‘flirting’ noticed you underneath the bed and had dragged you out.
you screamed as a hand wrapped around your throat and tightened itself, the man in question wielding a broken piece of glass.
young-il’s eyes widened as he immediately got out from underneath the bed. “y/n!” he called out, a snarl leaving his lips as he caught sight of the man.
he punched the man and shoved him away, causing the man to let go of your neck and groan.
you breathed heavily and looked at young-il, watching as he managed to kick the man against the bunk beds.
“you fucking bastard!” the man exclaimed, getting up and charging at young-il with the shard of glass. he only managed to graze young-il with it before being pushed back again, young-il’s grip on the man’s hand was tight as he pushed the glass away from his face and out the players hand.
disarming the player, young-il swiftly bought the man back down, smashing the players head against the bunk bed frames as he did, repeating the same thing.
you looked away as you heard the man’s skull crack, a small groan leaving you before you looked back. “young-il, that’s enough!—”
young-il was completely focused on killing the man, he was already dead by this point but he was fuming with rage seeing the man’s hands wrapped around your neck.
only after a few seconds did young-il stop, dropping the man’s dead body on the ground, blood quickly pouring from the wound. his head was smashed in and the blood covered young-il’s clothes and face.
he breathed heavily before looking back at you, grabbing your hands and bringing you back underneath the bed. “are you alright?” he asked, concern laced in his voice and you nodded.
despite the fact that you’ve just seen this man kill another you couldn’t help but find him more attractive—he did kill the man for you after all…
young-il let out a sigh of relief and you gently caressed his face, a small cut on his cheek from the glass. “your cheek…”
he blushed lightly before letting out a chuckle, grabbing at your hands again. “i’ll be fine, just a small graze, no?”
hesitantly nodding, you stayed close to young-il, his presence almost making you forget that there were people getting murdered just above you.
he kissed your knuckles and wrapped an arm around you. he’ll never let you get hurt and he’ll kill any bastard who even tries to hurt you.

POKÉMON X THE OUTSIDERS AU
info under images lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if anyone reposts these like the cowboy or scientist au I’m deleting my whole account watch your bakc
I’m gonna preface this by saying I haven’t played or even really indulged in Pokémon for like… 7 years so forgive me if any of this is off or doesn’t make sense…
ANYWAY!!
Original gang is just the Curtis brothers. Ponyboy, after years of putting it off to put time into school, decides he’s finally ready to try being a Pokémon trainer (he’s a bit of a late bloomer, starting at 14 instead of ten…yikes). Usually, their father would’ve helped him on his journey….but he’s, dead, so.
Darry agrees to help him, eventually Soda gets dragged along too because he’s worried Pony and Darry fighting 24/7 will ruin the experience for Ponyboy. And, Soda, being a Pokémon ranger, has a lot more knowledge than even Darry about how to safely go about this.
First they come across Steve. Soda and him are already besties, of course. And they have kinda a rivalry going on where they are constantly tryin to one-up each other (all in good faith lmao). It’s not until Steve starts talking about how he started with Pokémon that Darry realizes just how different it was than when he was starting out. Steve agrees to come along, mainly saying he thinks Pony’s gonna get himself killed cus’ he SUCKS!!
After all the yada yada and defeating his first gym leader, Pony finds a dead Radicate and REFUSES to move on until they give the poor creature a proper burial. Since they’re already relatively close, Darry redirects the group to Lavender Town.
While inside Pokémon tower, they come across a decrepit, old, decaying black-belt class trainer (Mr.Miyagi ((yeah I put him in here, what are you gonna do about it?)),sorry for all the mean adjectives) who of course starts being an old man and going on and on about the boy he fosters there and how weird he’s acting lately (Darry refuses to interrupt because he RESPECTS HIS ELDERS!!!).
Mr.Miyagi admits that not being around people his age has probably messed with his development, practically calling the boy a hermit, and asks the guys to bring him along in exchange for a very strong Gengar (for Pony, ofc). Darry, upon hearing that the boy is a strong fighter and MUCH quieter then the rest of the freaks he’s dealing with, agrees.
They go from floor to floor looking for him, eventually finding a cloaked figure on some fuckass floor idk. It takes a minute but they’re like, damn, this hoe possessed! And they battle him, he’s hard to beat but they do it eventually, yada yada. Johnny then takes the hood off, apologizes profusely, and explains that he’s a channeler but not really good at his job yet. (also imagine him with the most fuckass stutter, like Shaky from rdr)
The guys inform him about their promise to Mr.Miyagi, Johnny’s upset for t-minus two minutes before he’s just like “whatever okay” and joins them. (Quickly becomes the favorite, ofc, because he can actually shut his damn mouth).
They move on to the next gym, yk how it goes…but yeah they come across a traveling circus. And you’ll NEVER GUESS WHO IS A CLOWN!!
So anyway, Clown-bit, we love him. They come across him, agree to fight so he’ll give them some food and pokeballs, and Pony beats his ASS.
They don’t really invite Two-Bit along (they think he’s annoying…who doesn’t?) but he just joins anyway. Imagine like constant clown puns. Also he and Johnny quickly take a liking to each other cus’ they’re both kinda outcasts of the group (Johnny’s known the guys for like, a week…and Two-bit Just showed up. Also, we need more Johnny and Two-Bit friend content so).
They keep going, Pony defeats a few more gym leaders, and takes notice that a lot of them seem to recognize someone on their team. When he askes, Johnny admits to being the son of one of the elite four. At first, Pony is thrilled by the info, until he pries a little more and realizes Johnny’s father was an abusive asshole and pretty much sent him away to Pokémon tower to force him into becoming a trainer. Yikes.
Anyway, on their journey they come across some UGLY blonde guy, like one of those biker trainer classes yk..? Anyway yeah it’s Dallas, shocker. He kinda just gets in their way and refuses to move until they ALL battle him. Obviously, they don’t wanna do that, a lot of work for some ugly freak (did I mention he’s ugly?).
They agree to let Ponyboy fight him, but he uh…loses. After a bit of back and forth Dallas agrees to let them go if they help him get to the Indigo Plateau in Kanto, so he can face off against the Elite Four there (his bike is old, cus yk…he’s poor.)
Darry at this point has an entire league of teenagers following him around, so he’s like what’s one more? And boom they move on.
I don’t have much planned out from here (this was all pulled from my ass anyway). Maybe the Shepards can be like…the Team Rocket of this AU?? And Soc’s are the gym leaders.
Also, Yeah Cherry and Marcia are both Kanto elite four cus I SAID SO!!! And uh…Johnny and Cherry are dating because it’s MY AU AND I DO WHAT I WANT!!!! She’s the breadwinner and that’s okay, we love her for it <3
twobit prolly falls in love with Marcia when he sees her but idk if she’d reciprocate with an actual clown. Mayeb Randy lowered her standards???
anyway. That is all. Might flesh this out more if the obsession grows, or it’ll die in a week like the Crazy Scientist stuff. Oh well!
EXPLANATION OF DESIGNS/MORE INFO—
Ponyboy
CLASS: Youngster
Ngl his design took very little time…..oops
his cap hides a really bad dye job, and he refuses to take it off
He chose squirtle as his starter, idrk why but squirtle just suits him. Maybe cus he almost drowned!!
Would’ve fought to the DEATH if he didn’t get squirtle. This boy knows what he wants
He has a little pokeball necklace that his mom got him as a joke, will kill someone for it
He deffo has a really nerdy messenger bag that he keeps all of his stuff in
He’s scared of his own Beedrill
He does NOT need those glasses. But he likes them becuase he thinks they make him look more professional (everyone can tell they’re blue light glasses)
Sodapop
CLASS: Pokémon Ranger
LOVES his job and therefore is almost always seen in uniform
he loves electric/steel type Pokémon cus they reminds him of cars, so his hair is usually sticking up because of static electricity
has a whistle, but Darrel stole it and tossed it into the forest VERY early into the journey
yellow is his favorite color cus I said so
Raichu is his PRIZED Pokémon
He’s kinda like Snow White the Pokémon love him
His Flareon and Johnny’s Espeon are best friends
Darrel
CLASS: Veteran
Wanted to be a football player, but couldn’t because that wouldn’t keep the family afloat, that’s why his outfit has the numbers on it.
Lot of scars, some from football and some from his days as a trainer
His outfit used to have sleeves, but he found them annoying and just shopped them off one day
Always keeps the spare pokeballs on him
In highschool he had his hair grown out, but chopped it after their folks died because his father was always trying to get him to cut it
I don’t really have a backstory for his necklace, buts it fire okay
Treats his Pokémon VERY well, if there was a trainer rating website he would be top 5
Picks his Pokémon based on size and strength
Two-Bit
CLASS: CLOWN
Obviously he’s a clown so, that explains the outfit
NEVER seen without the makeup, even when it rains or he’s sleeping…that stuff is ON THERE
He has false lashes on his waterline, and yes they’re pink
He is incapable of being quiet because of all the bells
The hat doesn’t come off. if it did his hair under there would be hella matted
All of Two’s Pokémon are just as annoying as he is, he hides earplugs in his shoes for people (they never take them)
FATASS can and will eat anything in sight
Mr.Mime is his favorite of all his Pokémon….they ate both annoying together and everyone hates them for it
Johnny
CLASS: Channeler
the scar on his eye is from his father 😬 from when he figured out Miyagi wasn’t actually training him to be the next member of the Elite Four…. the eye is blue because of some psychic shit idk
His outfit is from Miyagi entirely, the sleeves used to be connected, but he found it too annoying to fight in those so he tore them (Miyagi was secretly VERY unsettled)
If you look really closely he has purple eyeliner
Johnny refuses to cut his hair, so it’s usually in a braid to be out of his way, he lets it down sometimes
He has the little flower charm connected to his belt…what a cutie
His hood is actually up a LOT, most of the time his face is obscured
There’s flames on his sleeve….wonder why (not the reason you think okay. His father was a fire type trainer…JOHNNY LIVES IN THIS AU OKAY.)
also the metal things around his arm are like…incredibly heavy. Mr.Miyagi put them in originally so he could build muscle while doing everyday things, but Johnny insists on keeping the on forever.
Loves all of his Pokémon equally, and they love him back. Always has atleast one out of their Pokeball so he doesn’t get lonely….my baby
He doesn’t even like the color purple that much it’s just kinda his thing now
Pokémon FLOCK to this man
Dallas
CLASS: Biker
Tore the sleeves off of his jacket as well…they really like doing that
YELLOW teeth and GREASY hair he does not take care of himself
Really likes dog-looking Pokémon
Has an empty slot because one of his Pokémon just DIED LMAO (idk which one. Oh well)
Has rips in his jeans, does not plan on fixing it
Hand-carved his belt buckle. The ‘win’ in Winston is underlined. Ignore the fact that this idiot keeps fucking losing
The bandages are protecting nothing. He thinks it makes him look cool
Pokémon are revolted by him. Like, his own literally hate him.
Steve
Class: Hooligan
kind of an ass, but he looks cool
any cutscene of him he’s making sure his hair is still spiked trust
loves steel type Pokémon because…cars
his favorite color is green, making any green Pokémon his all time favorite
for being a little shit, he treats his Pokémon rather well
has studs ALL over his back, once leaned back on Soda and has never heard the end of the pain he caused
he has a tongue piercing….so….
when the gang is lacking resources, he and Dallas are the first to steal

genuinely i think alot of kaboodle's actions on lifesteal can be explained by her scripted lore background. the world of scripted lore is fraught with the idea that "lore" is just... being miserable. it was something that made it difficult for me to get into ksmp (though i did eventually enjoy it), because it felt just so awful all the time. pointless arguments didn't tug at my heartstrings, it made me frustrated. but that's besides the point
i think maybe one of the reasons she takes everything way harder than she should and exaggerates relationships and disagreements is perhaps because she is drawing in past experience to be a good entertainer, in the way she is familiar with. which is so fair! we are formed by our backgrounds. it does unfortunately make it difficult to watch her if you're accustomed to the more ""live action"" sort of format lifesteal is usually in, where people seperate their characters from themselves a little less. but she has a good size audience that seems to fw it, so i dunno
that's just my take on the overuse of the word "betrayal" and such
agree but disagree. yes scripted is usually just being miserable but zam is just miserable all the time and his lore actually makes sense and is very entertaining to watch and he also separates himself from his character (to a degree). but when he is miserable he is consistently miserable while also doing some fun things to distract from the misery or making some impact on the server like cleaning up spawn while being miserable to chat. kab just sits around and talks and does fuck all. sorry. hating. a lot of hating below.
and it's annoying because she is miserable but then will go be fighting her inner demons of destruction, but then won't destroy because she doesn't want to be mean and she cares so much, but then she plans to destroy anyway but then she doesn't do it and doesn't have any consistency in any motivation or characterization and she's all over the place. every hour her emotional state is different and there's absolutely no effort at a throughline and everything before is just thrown out the window.
And it pisses me off that she does come from scripting because surely her characters on ksmp had some throughline and consistency.
and yet her inconsistency on ls does make sense bc in scripted you can plan and succeed with every plan you make when you are literally scripting the outcome.
but on lifesteal you can plan for something cool and fun and it can be taken away in an instant by the very same people you were trying to impress and that is hard and will send anyone into being tilted.
and trying to decide how to react to that is wildly difficult and i dont really envy them having to figure out what to do, but i do wish she would DO something. but that's also unfair because she is doing something, she's rebuilding. but while rebuilding she's going between wanting 4c to help her while also trying to convince him to betray his team while also trying to convince him to give her a heart without a fight while also planning to kill him while also reminding herself she has to be nice to him. so she's just using him. just say it with your full chest. you never cared about him and you just want someone else to do the work to get your own selfish self-pity plan back on the server.
you want to complain and then have someone swoop in and save you. and you dont want to make any effort to actually care about that person.
it's miserably sad and annoying to watch because lifesteal is about caring about people, and she goes on and on an on about caring *so much* but she doesn't give a shit about anyone but herself. and she lies to herself and and chat and insists that she cares.
and yes that's a rather consistent characterization to through at ls!kab but damn if it doesn't read like that at all and she went from genuinely apologizing to 4c to just using him flat out and reminding herself that she needs to use him and cant just kill him.
maybe its just that she's vilely unlikable. maybe that's the point in her scripted mind. make a hatable character. and yet her actions also speak to desperately trying to make a likable character whom youre sympathetic to, she tries desperately to guilt trip and pull at the heartstings about how shes just been betrayed so many times and life is so hard for her and shes so weak and how could you be mean to someone so pathetic and wounded.
but she's not likable at all. she doesnt care about a single other soul or what they care about. the second they put a boundary up she wants to run and leave, which, fair enough, actually a cool characterization of trauma but like also so abusive-coded. but in the end she chose to not abandon bacon as far as we can tell, but i can tell you give it two seconds and that thought will come back and she'll decide to betray him anyway. because nothing is consistent and nothing she says has any long term value. she just goes on the past five minutes to decide what she will do.
she's just so fake and that fakeness can be attributed to the character, but it only feels even more fake because she insists it's a character and not her as she turns around and does something that makes more sense for her to do as herself than the character. she is being two people existing on the same account, swapping out whenever necessary. but that's stupid. take responsibility for your actions and your emotions. stop blaming others.
and yes. it all goes back to how painfully different scripted mcrp is from unscripted.
and i know for damn sure that this will not be like this next season because she will learn from this season. or she doesn't. and that's what's so frustrating. the possibility that she never learns why lifesteal is lifesteal.
the possibility that she keeps writing asshole abusive characters that just get more abusive because of her own internal mental problems that lay unresolved and shoved under the rug like they aren't part of the character even though they are part of herself. she refuses to look at herself and acts like if just just acts hard enough they won't affect anything. they effect everything. you can't run from yourself when you are making unscripted content.
and yes. i am being really mean about someone who clearly has a lot of baggage. yes i am being mean about someone who is abusive as a defense mechanism and hates boundaries because of fear of being alone and all these things that are basically the bully being bullied at home type beat.
but she embraces none of it. doesn't even see any of it. thinks she has written a cute story with kazam, a cute ship that may be a little messed up but is at it's core cute.
it's fucking abusive and shit. it makes my skin crawl. zam is screaming to be let out of it and she thinks it's sunshine and roses. she is, to use the word literally, delusional about her actions. she thinks they are one thing when they are anything besides that.
but we do have one success story. and the trend goes that every lifestealer learns what lifesteal is by their second or third season. they all eventually get it. vi chose to do a very distinct character vs streamer in s4 and he crashed and burned to a degree unfathomable. and he learned from it. and he now says that was his favorite story he ever told. he see's how he's grown as a person because of it.
there is only hope in the future when it comes to kaboodle. lifesteal genuinely changes you and makes you grow. not because you choose to grow, but because it forces it out of you.
but in this moment im just constantly a ball of rage and constantly sent into sadness every time i watch. and she keeps interacting with my mains so im not going to just miss the story, and the progression is already happening, the kablantis shock is a genuinely lifesteal trauma moment for kab and is already changing her in good ways. this is the story, this is part of watching lifesteal. the meta conflict is what makes this server painfully unique. this difficult encounter with players that piss you off. because people in life are like this. people can suck and hurt each other and don't look at their internal mental state, they shove things under the rug and think they're fine and cause sorrow and pain when life gets difficult. that's life. encountering it as story really helps understand the people around you. to be more compassionate, be able to see when theyre hurting and chose to be kind anyway. to learn how to feel the negative emotions and process them and not run from them yourself. or learn how to stick up for yourself and put up your own boundaries and learn that you can. to figure out who you are. it's the best. and the worst. and leaves me hating until i realize it is interesting even though i hate it.

i think fandom tends to overestimate chase's imprinting on house a bit -- not to say it didn't happen, because it absolutely did, but it wasn't an immediate thing. it wasn't even a season one thing. chase in s1 really doesn't care much about house - he likes him, he thinks house is funny, he dresses like him, but his loyalty is still ultimately (always) to himself: he sells out house to vogler. s1 chase knows he's lowest ranked in the office, knows he's the least favorite. this doesn't bother him much: not to say it doesn't bother him at all, but we don't see chase try to rectify it or change it. cameron is the office asskisser, not him: where she agrees with everything house says and refuses to doubt him or believe he's an addict (even going so far as to declare her loyalty as a reason house shouldn't fire her in heavy); chase has no problem disagreeing with house or snarking about him, falling in the middle of the extremes of cameron's blind loyalty and foreman's cynicism.
chase likes house. that's not in question: he says so himself in sports medicine. but not more than himself. not more than his career.
you know when this starts to change? i can tell you, thanks to stacy. kids. at the end of s1.
chase sells house out to vogler. and he gets away with it. sure, house gives him shit, but chase isn't fired, isn't unduly punished. house even says to wilson and cameron that he understands (and is in a way fine with) chase doing so: he wanted the team to protect their jobs, to want to work for him, and chase fucking protected his job. (we see this in s5 with taub, and in s8, even, with 13: house doesn't want his employees distracted or half-hearted.) but consider it from chase's perspective. he did a Bad Thing. his reputation takes a hit, foreman holds it against him for a long time, and he grew up with daddy issues and neglect and never being good enough, doing everything he was told and being ignored and forgotten and punished. chase decided he'd rather house hate him than not work for house (insane!), but house doesn't hate him. he isn't punished. he is allowed to have fucked up and move on.
you know what else happens right around now? according to stacy: the mistake. right as chase is getting bullied for vogler, his dad dies, and he kills a patient, and you know what happens? nothing. house doesn't punish him. house covers for him. when chase fucked up the angio house considered firing him; chase does something infinitely worse and house doesn't do anything. later, in the mistake proper, house even helps him. offers to support him, go with his lie if chase wants. again: when has chase had that. when has he ever had the ability to make mistakes and fuck up and not get punished for it. he never wanted to be a doctor: his father wanted him to. he never wanted to raise his sister and nurse his mother: his father forced him to. house lets chase fuck up and doesn't hold it against him. he is probably the first person chase has ever known who has done that.
and so in s2 chase gets his lapdog reputation. and in s3 he doesn't even consider ratting to tritter. and in s8 he'd rather quit medicine than work for anyone else, anywhere else. chase didn't start being that loyal. but once house won it, boy did it pay dividends.

They are haunting me, I need them to fall in love and then have a divorce arc.
Yapping below👇
There are multiple ways I could set up for them to start dating .
Politics (truce?)
Young Ink sneaking into dreamtale to give them a childhood friends story line.
(I could imagine the reunion similar to the nowhere king and the women. Where dreamtale was one of the first au's made and ink really wanted to learn more about people and emotions and decided to sneak in while telling themselves it's fine as long as it doesn't affect the story. And nightmare slowly gets to know some one who doesn't hate him on sight and dream gets a friend who isn't just here to moch off his good vibes. I like to think ink slips sometimes and accidentally tells the twins about au's but not his job and nightmare starts planning to run away from dreamtale but wants to convince dream to go with them. Ink for some reason or another (punishment for interfering with a story too much) gets locked out of dreamtale during the apple incident but manages to take dreams statute (I like to think he looks more like petrified trees then stone) and keeps him safe in the doodle sphere. While nightmare tries to get out of dreamtale but can't control his powers so he just rampages but eventually manages to get out but only to extremely negative au's (horrortale , ect) and slowly starts making a name for himself as he looks for his brother and ink , who he has no idea is the protector of the multiverse. And doesn't find out for a while since all his information is so outdated and few people knew ink when he was younger. I also think these events would make ink very afraid of interfering with au's and getting to know people. I imagine when dream gets out? Unpetrifies? he wants to return to dreamtale but finds out he can't go in since it's so negative (nightmares doing) and eventually makes a team to try and fix the emotional balance but I don't think ink would join him (which would be a point of tension between them , which would be even greater since I imagine ink lets dream stay in the doodle sphere since he feels guilty thinking he messed up this guy's life. I also like the thought of error and inks fighting being softer like because ink can't get upset that error is out here destroying worlds since he's like I did that too on accident ,maybe I can convince to do something more productive. Ink meeting error he's just like me fr but unlike me I think he deserves a chance because he has an actual soul and not just a job description)
OR
I like the idea of an ink who is aware of the multiverse and is like ?!?! That would be entertaining only to get invested in the relationship and slowly get uncomfortable with the closeness a relationship brings. I could see nightmare agreeing to be in a relationship either due to his ego or he wants to use this to his advantage. Till nightmare gets comfortable with their relationship thinking this guy gets me while ink internally is freaking out eventually leading to them arguing. (Divorce arc) And now they try to avoid each other but keep running into each other due to reasons (I haven't decided)

What do you think was Stan's fate in the Better World Timeline?
Ooh, very interesting question! Thanks for the ask and sorry in advance for the enormous answer you’re about to get, hahah ❤️
So, to begin answering that (I promise I will eventually!), I have to first point out that what always caught my attention in Ford’s Better World description in the journal is that not once he meets his parallel self. On that hangs my entire analysis.
Instead, he gives us a reason why they didn’t meet: parallel!Fiddleford explains that he had been leading a portal expedition to a certain dimension, but one of the security officers ran into his parallel self and as soon as they touched hands, the entire dimension started to warp and fizz with static. Fiddleford and his team barely escaped alive!
But that’s the thing: as soon as they touched hands, only! Not as soon as they saw each other, or as soon as they were in the same room together, or as soon as they talked to each other, like you sometimes see in fanfic! No, it very much required actual skin-to-skin contact. You would think that Professor Stanford Pines, celebrated star of the scientific community, founder of the International Institute of Oddology, and our Ford, 12 PhDs (or a few less PhDs at the time) would have enough sense and self-control to... just not try and touch each other? Or, for security reasons, stand at least a few meters away from each other? If they feared an accidental touch so much, they could have talked through a glass panel or some kind of physical divide. I do believe every Ford must be a deeply curious individual, and you’re telling me that parallel!Ford, known genius, wasn’t capable of creating a way to enable himself to interview his parallel selves safely? Wouldn’t you be very curious to meet your parallel self? I think it’s more likely than not that other versions of Ford would end up pushed through the portal, so our Ford might not even have been the first Ford to visit that dimension.
But instead Fiddleford goes so far as to detain our Ford and hold him captive without even attempting to explain things first! A bit overkill, no? You could say, “but Bunny, Fiddleford just didn’t want impulsive, reckless Ford to go and run to his parallel self upon seeing him for the first time!” But herein, my friend, lies the crux of the matter: even after Fiddleford explains things to our Ford, even after our Ford understands he couldn’t touch his parallel self... He still doesn’t meet or talk to parallel!Ford. Wasn’t he trusted enough/allowed to do so, even then?
My Doylist explanation (that considers what led the author to choose a certain path) to that is: the writers just didn’t want the two Fords to meet and wanted to leave it ambiguous. It’s really not that deep 😭
My favorite Watsonian explanation (in-universe headcanon) to that is: Fiddleford didn’t want them to meet 😏
Now, would Fiddleford ever lie to Ford? Yes. In fact, he already did, in our original timeline! Ford asked him to destroy the memory gun, Fiddleford apparently agreed. “He was crestfallen by my advice, but after some discussion he came to see the wisdom in it. He said that he didn’t want to risk forgetting his wife and son. I ordered him to destroy the gun, and he did.” (“Ordered”... Oh, Ford, never change...) Reality: Fiddleford hadn’t destroyed it at all, and in fact used it on Ford to erase his memories without Ford’s consent or knowledge.
So even though I don’t think this was, necessarily, either Alex’s or Rob Renzetti’s intentions, I like to think parallel!Fiddleford was bullshitting our Ford a bit. To which extent, I don’t know. The thing about the parallel selves touching and causing a dimension to end might very well be true (in fact, according to Alex’s Word of God, it is! he has said on Twitter that parallel selves really can’t meet in their home dimensions, but can meet in the in-between spaces!) BUT because of the reasons I explained above, it’s my headcanon that it wasn’t the main reason why Fiddleford didn’t want the two Fords meeting.
I just love, love the vibes of A Better World. I love how utterly smitten with that world our Ford is. He describes himself as “drawn” towards the Institute “like a moth to a flame,” and mentions his desire to “revel in [his] parallel self’s success.” He’s utterly smitten it with it despite never once meeting his parallel self. He imagines his parallel self as the happiest man on Earth despite never once meeting his parallel self. He leaves that dimension sighing wistfully despite never once meeting his parallel self. I love how parallel!Ford is just... shrouded in this very ambiguous mystery. It all sounds a little bit ominous to me. Is he happy? Is he satisfied? Does he like what he accomplished?
Our Ford, of course, imagines that he is. Our Ford doesn’t even wonder about parallel!Stan, because that’s who Stanford Pines is: self-centered as all hell, hahah. His brother doesn’t even cross his mind, since he’s too busy being dazzled by his apparent great success and the fulfillment of his dreams! I think he subconsciously assumed parallel!Stan must have been fine.
What do I think happened to parallel!Stan? Oh, well, he’s very much dead 🪦💐 And parallel!Ford, the man Ford believes to be so lucky, is actually miserable. Fiddleford was merely protecting our Ford from the truth.
If you want to get a bit darker, just look at this excerpt from the Not What He Seems script:
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, in the Lost Legends comics, Ford is saying shit like this:
Tumblr media
We stan an insensitive king who is utterly and blissfully oblivious to his brother’s dangerously low self-esteem and borderline suicidal thoughts ❤️
Before TBoB, I might have been reluctant to think something so dark could happen in GF, since it still is, after all, a cartoon for kids, and Stan’s a main character! But then TBoB went and revealed to us that Dipper and Mabel died horrible deaths in all the other timelines! 😭 And while I do take that with a grain of salt because it was revealed to us by Bill Cipher and Bill is not trustworthy but a professional liar, just the fact Alex acknowledged and played with the possibility of the two protagonists dying horribly is already pretty telling in and of itself...
I think that once parallel!Ford called Stan after a decade, unwittingly gave him hope, and then ripped it out from his hands... Yeah. We know how Ford is important to Stan. Reconciliation with Ford might very well have been what was pushing Stan forward. Stan can be very, very stubborn — working on a portal for 30 years — when Ford is involved. But having no Ford at all...
Parallel!Ford might have planned to call Stan back, but by then it was probably too late. So yeah. I like to imagine that parallel!Ford would be, ironically, so, so jealous of our Ford’s happy ending with Stan.
Tumblr media
Actually, as I type this, the funniest idea occurred to me. The real reason Fiddleford didn’t allow the two Fords to meet is that parallel!Ford, upon listening our Ford praise his accomplishments and shit-talk Stan (“I can’t believe Stanley listen to you! He’s so stubborn, so selfish, he never listens!”) would disregard all reason, all training, and all self-control just for the precious chance to punch himself in the face. Dimension ending catastrophe? A minor detail.

Alright. I simply cannot get the idea of getting hot and heavy in the back of some limo with Ei and a little sprinkle of sneaking around too. I don’t know where this came from or anything so here. I’m leaving it. And that’s all.
It’s sorta smutty so no minors or ageless. They’re aged up, in case that wasn’t self explanatory. Reader gets a little jealous. Other than that it’s basically just fluff with fucking.
I did not proof this what so ever. Sorry. I’m tired. I don’t even have a rough word count for you but it’s pretty short.
Tumblr media
The two of you leaving together after some big award show after he finally breaks into the top 10. Only you’re most certainly not the woman his agencies PR team has been setting him up on dates with. The super model who’s been all over him, the face of his active wear line, the woman they want to see him with.
He’s been putting on a good show for them. Even dipped her in front of all the camera the red carpet was lined with and kissed her as a hundred flashes went off.
But, gods, she’s just not you. The cute little waitstaff always serving drinks at these events. The black skirt they make you wear hugs your curves so tightly and he can see every dip of your plush hips and he remembers what it was like the first time he got to feel you.
He was stiff in his perfectly tailored pants before the hors d’oeuvres came around.
Tumblr media
The first chance he got, he’d slipped away. Thankfully, his accomplishments were already recognized. He’d done his part, stood up, waved, went on stage, he didn’t give a damn about anything or anyone else. He just needed to find you again.
“I— oh fuck— I’m gonna have to get back before someone realizes I’m— I’m— right there, right there, yes please—!” It was too hard to think when his fingers were buried deep within your cunt.
He had you propped up on the back of his limo. Making you cum with your skirt all bunched up. “Don’t think you gotta go anywhere yet, pretty,” he chuckles and licks off his fingers.
“I do though, I do,” you tried forming a sentence, “I could get fired,”
He pulled your legs around him and carried you around to the door to slip inside with you. “Told you I’d get you a job at my agency, then you wouldn’t have to worry about this job.”
You sucked on his neck as he undid his belt, “don’t know how your girlfriend would feel about me working with you daily… having this happen far more often?” Because you’re not stupid, you knew if you took him up on that offer you’d be on his dick every chance the two of you had.
“She’s not my girlfriend and you know it.” He made that abundantly clear the first time he made a move on you months ago and you questioned him.
He’d just barely slipped his cock free before you were sinking down on it with a groan that would reply in his head for a lifetime. “I don’t think she knows that.”
He chuckles and it makes you clench around him. “You’re real cute when you’re jealous,” hands grip hard on your hips and he pushes you down as he grits out, “and if she does know it, that’s—not— my— problem—” rocking his hips to watch your eyes roll back.
“You’ve said it yourself though, she’s what your PR team wants. I’m nothing like her.”
He huffed before his arms wound under your legs so he could hold you up and fuck up into you as he damn well pleased. “Also told you that I don’t care what they want. You say the word and it’ll be you on my arm at these events, not her.”
You laughed before he made it into a blissed out moan.
“What? Don’t believe me?”
The windows were fogging up, anyone walking by would damn well know what was happening here. And he didn’t care at all. He’d bullied himself into you over and over again, tearing at your little outfit, unable to help himself.
Of course, you didn’t seem to mind with the way you were babbling now, tits bouncing with your head tossed back, pleasure coursing through you. “What’s the matter, pretty? Can’t do anything more than moan for me now? Should I stop and letcha think?”
His pace slowed and you cried out, “noooo!”
“Then answer me, baby, you believe me, don’t you?” Gods, for a man railing you within an inch of your life, his tone was soft and sickeningly sweet. “Promise if ya let me I’ll do this to you all night long.” Not that these quickies weren’t fun but just once he wants to see you splayed out in his bed. “I’ll make you cum over and over, as much as you want.”
He took your chin and made sure you were looking at him as he added. “I want you. For more than just a fast fuck at a party. Lemme take care of you, in every possibly way there is.”
With his cock filling you up so completely, and his eyes carrying so much hope, how could you ever deny him?

i dont know if this is anything
But eddie seems to not like reading. He reads to Chris to keep up what Shannon had started, and he knows that its important, but there's like several moments where people on the team are reading books where eddie is like kinda being like ew about it? idk if im making this up LMAO
But Buck is constantly reading. Mostly self help books, yes, because my guy is nothing if not a mess in search of answers. But yeah hes read several books, and even in the coma he was a teacher, and idk i think theres probably something to do with the fixing and also something to do with escape.
But i feel like eddie was probably wayyy better at school than Buck. Buck had issues with sitting still, listening, authority etc. But eddie was probably more reserved, the catholic guilt kept him from acting out, also being from a smaller conservative town with his parents for parents...I mean its clear he feels like he has a place and he has to follow order. Thats why his fall back was the army. He followed orders there, where as a parent, no one tells you how to do it. You have to do the telling. You see him open up a lot more when Shannon leaves, and he really steps up for Chris, but Eddie still has this like mentality through a lot of things like he's waiting to be told what to do, or like he's waiting for someone to lay the path out and give him the answers. When he "falls short" of that "path", he punishes himself for it. He lets his parents take Chris to Texas, he stops letting himself be happy. He hasn't earned it.
But buck is all about action, going out and finding it and trying everything under the sun, and putting everything into getting better. And the idea of learning and growing is a little less scary to Buck. And he was never good at school, never really went to college, and so reading is less framed as an act he did to be good but rather something which he wanted to do. Where as Eddie probably read more growing up because he was told to, but there's no one telling him to now so he doesn't. He avoids it because its one thing they can't tell him to do anymore.

The source of those rumors is a guy from Carlos's family's tennis club who is close to Kiko Navarro & knows some members of Carlos's team & is a regular collaborator with Punto de Break. According to him (he's said this before) Carlos & Juanki had a significant fight towards the end of 2023. But the claim that they nearly split up back then came from someone else who's less reliable.
As for 2025, the first guy says Carlos's dad has apparently not been happy with what Juanki is doing for a while... but it seems like Carlos doesn't agree. If things don't turn around after clay season his family might push for changes to the team.
From my perspective it's hard to understand the coaching strategy sometimes. Like you said Juanki's strength is not tactics but it seems like that's what Carlos really needs. This is just one example but I think it's crazy that he sat on court in silence for three sets without suggesting Carlos change his return position v Djokovic - Carlos eventually figured it out... in the last game of the match. And that was honestly the main factor in him losing. You could argue Juanki wanted him to figure it out himself but why on earth did they not discuss that beforehand when it also cost him massively at the Olympics (which Carlos said he didn't even think about before the match?)
I know Juanki's whole thing is treating team like family but there are a lot top coaches who say that after 5ish years a coach has nothing to give a player anymore & I wonder if their partnership has run its natural course. Carlos doesn't seem any more tactically equipped than he was two years ago & his technicals have mostly not improved either (return... backhand...).
thanks for this background - after replying to some earlier asks i dug around and saw some folks citing punto de break but not any specifics so this is appreciated. this does immediately increase the credibility to me bc i know pdb values their access and would not jeopardize it for nothing lmao. tho if it's like, a guy who sometimes writes for them and is mostly posting on his own time... i guess that's somewhere in the middle. (btw i still haven't seen anything other than reports of reports of reports? if you've got links i would very much appreciate them!)
as usual i think we're looking at two questions here: could carlos benefit from a different coach, and does carlos want a different coach.
i think we are all in agreement that for carlos to continue to develop as a player he needs something he's not getting at the moment, whether we're thinking in terms of incorporating a new addition to the team or making a wholesale switch. and i don't disagree with you at all about the natural lifespan of a coaching relationship. i've cited this before in discussions of juanki's own career (stuck with one guy; was it a mistake?) and of ferru's (split but waited too long; chalked the delay up to personal feelings).
but as long as it's presented to carlos as an all-or-nothing choice i don't think he's there yet and i would not be surprised to find out that his recent post-match declarations were a message. (tbc it very much MIGHT be an all-or-nothing choice, regulars here know i have plenty of thoughts about the academy lmao.)
the thing is that at this point the unknowns are still really, really risky. if you've had the same coach for most of your teen/adult years and you're ready to strike out and try something new, then that's exciting and stimulating and you're in a good place to make the best of it. but if you're dragging your feet? if you feel like you've been pushed? maybe someone else could give you more, but you have to be ready to receive it, you know? if you're an environment that you know enables you overall to perform at a high level (4 grand slams), where you feel overall confident and supported even if you're lacking direction in some big matches, where you get value from your coach's presence above and beyond the specifics of tennis--it is inherently going to be a risk to make a big change and if you're not all in on doing so the risks will be even more likely to find you.
that's why i keep saying is that i don't see it happening unless carlos' results gets much worse than this--or, potentially, unless a voice that holds as much weight with him as juanki's (so, his dad) gets strong enough that he listens to it. that might be where we're headed!
(incidentally i have feinted at this without saying so explicitly, but there is an unbelievable amount of money riding on carlos' success or lack thereof--i don't mean prize money, i mean his brand as a star--and it would be naive to pretend that's not a factor in decision-making. that's one of the reasons i've pointed to a sustained slump, rather than one or two disappointing slams. when the results start to affect the brand.)
just talked this over with friend who compared the ideal set-up to darren/simone for jannik--supervisory coach + tactical/court coach. if so, then the question is whether they come to that same conclusion and get the set-up in place before the decision is out of their hands, so to speak.

Solas sees himself in Rook is the lie in Veilguard I cannot get over.
"Solas sees himself in Rook, perhaps even things he doesn't like to acknowledge", they said. There are no two people more diametrically opposed than Rook and Solas. Outside of Rook doing that thing that pissed off a bunch of people in some sort of authority over them, there is nothing between the two to connect them. All their parallels are utterly superficial.
Well, they are both leaders! Solas lead armies, agents, spies against seven powerful mages with armies, agents and worshipers of their own. He had to be ruthless, to sacrifice, forge alliances knowing he'll break them, to manipulate. His friendship with Felassan suffers because it's exceptionally difficult to be emotionally open with a person you give orders to, who you know might die in your name, for your cause, willingly. Solas know it. That's why Felassan writes about how Solas is planning something and is not telling anyone, even his closest friend. It's nothing good. Both know that and neither can do anything about it because there is massive wall between them made of their complex relationship, their cause, Solas' devotion to Mythal and his vengeance for her murder. Solas cannot be a true friend to Felassan just as Felassan can be a true friend to Solas. Love and care are there there but there are things bigger than them and their relationship at play. Solas had to go along with the Dread Wolf narrative even if he hated it. Rook has to prove they are a really good guy to factions and therapyspeak their team of professionals into working under a lot of pressure. Rook suffers none of the consequences of leadership unless they utterly ignore their companions' side quests. What does Rook lose? Their moral codex? Not once did they have to do anything morally questionable. Their relationships? Hardened mechanics is utterly meaningless in the narrative. Since Hardened mechanics is the only thing that was brought from Origins, it's fair to compare it to Origins: Neve is not Leliana who becomes ruthless and thinks murder might actually be an answer to many questions; Lucanis isn't Alistair who accepts that he must become First Talon. What does Rook lose? One companion who willingly sacrifices themselves.
Solas made choices. Stupid ones, yes, but choices. His actions had terrible consequences. Rook is not active in the narrative. They only react. The choice between cities is so in the moment that it isn't about what Rook is willing to sacrifice, what terrible consequence they are more likely to accept, it is not about "all choices are terrible and you have to choose" but reacting to having to choose at all with very little information based on your companions 3 seconds explanation before they ran away. In inquisition, the choice between mages and templars is also quite early in the game. But it influences how you meet Cole and Dorian, it influences who comes to attack Haven, which enemy you are more frequently encounter in the world. Antivan Crows and Rivain apparently have business dealings going all the time, about supplies and Antaam, but after a dragon attacks Treviso, the Lords of Fortune do not offer a dragon hunter (who is big Crow fan) to help out their assassin business partners and consequently Rook. No, it's on Harding to find the dragon hunter. They see a blighted dragon in D'Meta Crossing, hear Ghilan'na speak through it, and not even say that this might be a big fucking problem very quickly and no one nearby knows how to handle it. It's after a city gets blighted that Solas is telling you to find a dragon hunter. Thank you, dear, but I knew that 6 hours ago. Rook somehow didn't tho. The choice between the cities is utterly superfluous, influencing only your gameplay (which companion can't heal you, which city's side quest get cut, which merchants aren't available) rather than the world. Minrathous is no better for fending off Elgar'nan in the end whether you save it or not. UNFORTUNATELY, due to AMA and John Epler, they resolved the artificial moral quandary of this choice as well. Because the Blight in Minrathous will calcify and die at the end of the game, the blight in Treviso will not. Thanks, I hate it. Though the Archon you choose is very much aware that there are blighted gods with an equally blighted dragons but no preparations for any war marches, attacks, sieges will be made. Antiva doesn't reconsider its governance after having a city invaded and blighted. You chose Treviso? Cool. MInrathous' blight will die at the end, Dorian will become Archon and outlaw slavery and cults. Crows rule unchallenged. You chose Minrathous? New Archon is outlaw slavery and cults, your blighted mage will be just fine, Crows rule unchallenged, not a single Talon is blighted. Sad about Treviso, though, that place might just have to be Chernobyl of Antiva.
Solas had moral complexity. Rook doesn't. Varric handpicked the goodest, goofiest little guy to go against a morally dubious ancient being (MW Rook seems to have committed some cultural taboo but don't worry that will not influence how Emmrich views you. MW is EASIER to gain rep with instead of harder. Strife being that way about VJ Rook who saved lives of their people is nonsensical because Strife sided with helping a human mage instead of cutting off said mage's limbs to free himself. LoF background is nonsensical. Why a bunch of pirates give a shit what nobles think? Because trade? They trade fucking lost treasures, not freshly caught salmon. If not those guys, it's gonna be the other guys. Every nation has insufferable rich people who like to put "exotics" into their home decor.) WHY Varric picked the goodest, goofiest little guy in Thedas to stop an ancient mage who fooled an entire organization (and possibly his lover) a decade ago before disappearing into mist that Spymaster of Inquisition couldn't find him until he wanted to be found makes no sense. The man who has lived and actively participated in the shit happening in Kirkwall and Inquisition. The man who fucking lies for a living. Yes, Varric is a overall a good man, but he isn't the paragon of goodness, far from it. It's not Varric who approves you helping refugees in Inquisition. In fact, Varric approves of Inquisitor deciding to let soldiers to fend for themselves. Varric greatly approves of bullshitting your way through thing, including lying, and protecting what is yours. Hawke was never the goodest guy, they are either a smuggler or merc he hired to go through the Deep Roads. Without committing to either choice presented in DA2, Hawke was presented with moral choices where either pick can be dubious. Hawke had to have picked either mages or templars. A bunch of people who are without a doubt dangerous. Or an order who will commit atrocious crimes because they can get away with given that the crime is against a mage. Hawke had some sort of relationship with the guy who bombed the Chantry and either executed him or let him run, either choice without being canonical presents a moral quandary of its own. Varric writes books about how underhanded tactics, lying, spying, and manipulation with a dose of blackmail can actually be for the benefit of the greater good if done with right intetions. But by choosing Rook, it's like Varric thinks that goodness of Inquisitor is what gets one through Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts, and not ruthlessness, self-service, and a lot of Varric's own favourite hobby - lying. Why Varric you meet in DA2 and Inquisition picks Rook? Well, he CALLS Rook clever and adaptable, but all Rook's cleverness is bulldozing through obstacles and killing obviously evil guys. Rook is stubborn, determined - no doubt. But Rook isn't clever, cunning, or crafty. They prioritize saving life in droves, which is something that would be on Varric's mind IF Varric was to believe Solas was a heartless bastard with no regard for the damage he causes and we know that's NOT what Varric believes about Solas.
Solas has to fight against his downfall - pride. I genuinely don't know what Rook has as a flaw they struggle against. Their compassion doesn't get them in trouble, they don't get tricked or betrayed. But Solas puts them in prison! Yes, but the reason Rook gets caught isn't due to Solas's trickery but because they can't do shit in the moment. They just fought against Ghilan'nain and her darkspawn puppets alone while trying to free their companions, get knocked on the head a few times, hangs upside down like cattle while their friend gets skewered. How Solas gets them into the prison is TACTICAL. Rook is weak, Rook is tired, Rook is vulnerable, and the Veil is thin so he can actually reach through. It's not trickery. But Rook and Co couldn't shut up about Solas' inevitable betrayal so the payoff is due in whatever way possible. Solas thinks he alone can fix what he has broken, he alone has to face Elgar'nan because many ancient grudges and regrets are knotted up in there. Solas turns on his friends because he thinks what he must do is the thing he must do or all is lost (elven immortality, magic, spirits, knowledge, the world he knew and its history). He thinks he alone knows better than anyone. Partially because he is one of the very few beings who lived since it all began, before the world was changed by the Veil. The Prison sequence wants you the player to believe Rook carries the responsibility in some internalized way, but it's not fucking written in any way until this point, so why would you consider it an issue Rook has to actively face and has struggled with and not just an excuse to have Solas out? My brothers and sisters by the Maker's grace, Leandra scolding Hawke for their sibling's death was more scathing than choosing a whole damn city to be left to burn.
"I've molded you into someone the prison can accept in my place". How? You've done nothing. We had like 4 conversations. 3 of which you spent telling me about the Evanuris, the Blight, their dragon thralls, and how much you fucking hate Elgar'nan. Solas says nothing that changes Rook in any way, how they view their leadership, their actions, or themselves. I think the prison will accept anyone with a formed frontal lobe, honestly. Solas makes you say "I'll do whatever it takes" in the dialogue! Again, that attitude Solas tries to push on you is: a. fucking necessary? you have immortal beings with pet dragons and almost unlimited power to fight against. b. the attitude is more embraced by your companions than Rook. c. Rook is never pushed into doing anything morally questionable or even debatably interesting to reach their objective. Not once is Rook saying "i don't want to do this, i hate to do this, but i have no choice." Rook doesn't even have to lie! Not fucking once!
Tricking someone doesn't make you right. It's one of the things Rook and Solas will discuss. And regardless of anything, Rook will go Shiro Emiya "just because you are correct doesn't mean you are right" on Solas's ass. And that's good. It shows that Solas is shit with introspection just like Elgar'nan and Ghian'nain are. It shows why he is stuck in the prison. On the other hand, his fucking murals are shows very nicely why he is stuck in the prison: he immortalizes his regrets that he wishes to forget instaed of working through them. And by bringing the point of trickery without engaging with what it actually menas to trick... It creates a problem. Well, two problems, actually. A. Where the Solas you meet in Inquisition and Trespasser and when can we get him back? Where is the man who tricked a whole ass organization, played chooms with a Seeker of Truth, Qunari spy, published liar, Spymaster of the Divine, and most ruthless diplomat? Never once does Solas feel superior or above the people he tricked there. He is in fact very fond of the Seeker of Truth who not once found truth on her own (I love you Cassandra). He is very fond of the Antivan diplomat who cheats, lies, manipulates, blackmails probably even better than he did as Dread Wolf and he doesn't feel any superiority for having outplayed Josephine. The reason Solas is the trickster is because it's his only weapon. He was never as powerful like Elgar'nan or Mythal, doesn't have a bunch of other somewhat powerful egomaniacs standing for his cause. Wits, trickery, deception are his only damn weapon, were his only damn weapon for centuries. That's why he is so good at it. The problem of Solas isn't in being a fucking trickster who thinks he is right because he can outsmart you, Veilguard, it's that he goes about solving the problems he creates the same way he goes about making them in the first place: alone, through deception. His trickery is a double edged sword and he constantly cuts himself, refusing to lay it down. He alone tricks the Evanuris into containing the Blight with their life force. Boom! The Veil. He lets the Venatori get his orb and bring it to Corypheaus, thinking he outsmarted them all and soon will unlock his orb and tear down the Veil he created. Boom! Corypheus lives, there is hole in the sky! So he slithers his way into the only force he thinks can fix what he just fucked up - the Inquisition - through deception, alone. That's his torment nexus. You tried and you came close, Veilguard, I giveyou that, but you slightly misrepresented the issue. B. The other problem is that Rook never has to trick anyone. Not even their enemies. Rook can never truly testify for the claim "outsmarting someone doesn't prove you were right" because they never had to. Rook is never confronted by the idea that tricking someone might actually good, put you on that high horse and it can be hard to get off. So Rook's words are just lipservice and not proven experience or tested issue.
"Solas sees himself in Rook". Only if Solas views himself as an insufferable goodie-two-shoes fool who thinks in straights lines and is about as easy to trick as a toddler.

See – this is what I missed from Veilguard. Most of Dragon Age is in a constant conversation about power and leadership. If this is your first playthrough, you won't know any of this is important yet. But the main point of Ostagar, beyond setting up the tragedy, is to give you an opportunity to meet all the major players. Because eventually, you're going to have to solve Ferelden's political crisis.
You can see that Cailan's bonhomie is likely genuine – but it's also a political tactic. His father, Maric, also knew how to bond with his subjects. And a tendency to run back into danger to rescue imperilled footsoldiers, while not perhaps tactically sound, was a solid way to win the love of the people who supported him during the rebellion.
But Cailan is is clearly not taking the darkspawn threat seriously. It doesn't necessarily matter if it's a "true" Blight or not: evidence suggests quite a lot of darkspawn are coming their way, and they need to take steps to deal with that. He's not necessarily stupid, but he has no real head for these kinds of tactics.
Loghain is established as the tactician. Everyone knows he's the brains of this outfit. Thing is, he'll tell you himself he thinks this situation is already well and truly out of control: "Pray that our king proves amenable to wisdom, if you're the praying sort".
It's not even that Loghain is rude, or more remote than Cailan; honestly he's incredibly polite, given that Seanna just summoned him from his tent because she wanted to see what this guy looked like. But Loghain will do what he deems tactically sound. He'll do it even if it means getting people killed who do not deserve to die.
And Alistair, there – well, at least as far as this goes, he's an excellent mix of both. He's clearly got Cailan's good humour (and once you know they share a father, that tracks), but he's also very clearly a thinker. There's plenty he doesn't know about the Grey Wardens because he's new, but he has absolutely done the reading. And he's sceptical where something smells like bullshit, and well aware of the political machinations going on around him.
The problem of Alistair is that if you suggest that he use those talents in order to be in charge of something, he will stick his head in the sand and yell I CAN'T HEAR YOU until you give up and go away.
Anora, of course, needs to wait a bit to make her case ... but we'll get there.
You can absorb all the things these people say and do, so when the moment comes, you can make the choices you believe are right for Ferelden.
And look, yes, I'm still mad about this:
Tumblr media
I'm partly mad because, while I recognise that I would have got to participate in this decision if we'd saved Minrathous, that makes no bloody sense.
While I'll be the first to admit I'm not Inquisition's biggest fan either, I will give them this: when they say you can only choose to go to the mages or the templars, it is because you are taking sides in a conflict between those two groups. You can't reasonably rock up to both and say "Hey, want to be allies?" Moreover, it's not simply a matter of losing content from the choice. You get different content as a result of that choice. Samson or Calpernia, depending on where you went.
Minrathous/Treviso is specifically not a choice. You send teams to both. Immediately. Both cities are under threat and you divide the team to deal with it. The game simply makes it so the team containing Rook is successful, and the other team isn't. Absolutely nothing of note happened there.
And, despite some initial griping, we are still definitely working with Ashur and his Shadow Dragons. That relationship still exists. There really isn't any good reason to not have a quest here, except to artificially force re-playability without producing new content.
But honestly ... it's not even that. I'd probably have picked Dorian anyway, so it's not like I'm sour at not getting what I want. It's that ... this is probably the most politically significant decision in the entire game, and that screenshot above is the first I heard of it.
There's a solid argument to be made that, if the south is as badly off as the Inquisitor says, Tevinter is once again the major world power. The capital took a bit of a beating in the endgame, sure, but that was brief and explicitly solved at the end. The rest of Tevinter seems ... pretty much fine? They're no longer at war with Par Vollen, because Par Vollen doesn't have an army anymore. Orlais seems to be down for the count.
Now, there are other potential contenders (Nevarra seems to have weathered the crisis pretty well, and some of the Free Marches still seem to be standing ...), but Veilguard won't talk about politics unless you put a gun to its head, so who knows.
Tevinter is the big political player up for grabs ... its leadership could mould the next age ... but it doesn't come up. Regardless of who makes the decision, it should matter!
If I've got to the end of a Dragon Age game, and I don't know who is running the country I'm currently standing in ... something has gone very wrong.

c3 has certainly been the least satisfying campaign so far, but the interesting thing about that is that i don't think you can point to any single point of failure and say "there, that's where it went wrong." it's been more of a death by a thousand cuts. this is going to be criticism, but very broad strokes from a narrative perspective.
first off: to try and play out a campaign with such monumental stakes is already quite ambitious, and unfortunately the player characters for this campaign were exactly the wrong mix for dealing with divinity. bells hells never really had a reason to do the right thing; vox machina's story was very clear cut good-and-bad, along with the personal investment of seeing their homes and people they care about under threat. the mighty nein floundered at times, but had enough self motivated and strongly opinionated characters with outside ties to keep the game moving even when they weren't sure where they were going. molly's death also galvanized them to Give A Shit about consequences and what was going on around them in a way they hadn't before.
bells hells, on the other hand, has never had any personal stake in any of this; laudna, chetney, ashton and braius are functionally alone in the world, with nothing to fight for and no close relationships to see threatened. (sure, braius is ostensibly a paladin of asmodeus, but sam himself has admitted he's not good at staying committed to evil characters. i appreciate the intention behind bringing a religious character back into the campaign after fcg's ending, but braius has been flaky, at best, about his loyalties.) fcg was just beginning to forge those bonds when they died. fearne's family is safely squirreled away in morrigan's piece of the feywild, away from consequences, and she doesn't give a shit about her father. imogen only had her mother, who she always kept sort of holding out hope for and keeping at arms length at the same time. aside from her, orym is the only one with emotional stakes in of all this, and even that was more attached to ludinus himself than the larger plot of predathos being released.
ergo, none of these characters except imogen and orym have personal investment in the story they're spearheading. obviously this is accidental; with them going into campaigns blind, there's no way they could have predicted they weren't going to mesh with the plot. in a story like c1 (largely black and white apocalypse scenarios solved by stereotypical hero work) or c2 (some political maneuvering, but, again, straightforward "stop this tyrannical flesh city" consequences) these pcs might've worked fine, but having characters who are not only disconnected from the gods, but from other mortals, means they never really figured out who or what they're fighting for. each of them is too caught up endlessly ruminating over their own isolation; none of them played a character with enough purpose and/or stability in life to really bring the team together for any common goal. fcg, again, almost got there, and their loss re-fractured the team. chetney sometimes steps in, because travis is a player with great instincts, but it would be playing against his established personality to always have him take on this role. no one else has the emotional intelligence or social skills to encourage the others on paths of personal growth, and with the plot essentially being on a timer for so long, there hasn't been room for the sorts of side trips and time skips that both c1 and c2 had to allow offscreen character development to happen. they've been hurtling at their goal for most of the campaign with no opportunity to work on themselves, and it shows. the characters have largely remained stagnant.
then there's the lack of meaningful npcs. this is partially because they've been all over kingdom come, and partially because they've never really committed to being on anyone's side long enough to form bonds with npcs. they have no "home base," no faction loyalties except orym's loyalty to the ashari and fearne's loyalty to morrigan, and again, few personal ties that would easily translate into recurring npcs. given that the purpose of npcs is largely to keep the plot moving forward . . . you can see how the hells have suffered without them.
this next part is going to piss some people off, because it's (gentle) criticism of matt, but it needs to be said. i do not think he should have told this story. i'm not talking about technical ability as a dm, i mean more from a philosophical, anthropological, religiological perspective. exandria is a world the opposite of ours, in which the existence of gods is unilaterally accepted and observable, but their "right" to act as such is now under debate with the revelation that they originated elsewhere, came to exandria, engaged in cultivation of exandria's raw materials, & killed the titans who technically had the "right" to the land but wanted to wipe their creations off the face of the earth. then things devolve into polytheistic dualism, a pantheon of good gods and a pantheon of bad gods, and they spend a long time warring with each other and killing each others' creations before, eventually, mortals figure out how to kill them, and they join forces to stop that before agreeing to withdraw their presence behind the divine gate.
then he includes this confusing angle that "divine" magic isn't actually divine in origin, it's just another kind of magic that exists and the gods have taken credit for it. then he becomes vague as to what sort of "cultivating" the gods actually did--whether they're responsible for life as it's known on exandria, or whether or not they've just taken credit for what was already there. which is a level of ambiguity that's deeply unsatisfying in a setting where any sufficiently devoted priest can directly talk to their god. the conclusion, then, is that the gods withhold the truth from mortals--not because mortals can't comprehend it, it seems, but because it is beneficial to the gods to withhold it.
there is no real world religion (that i know of) that is in any way comparable to this sequence of events. dualism as a concept does not play well with polytheism as a religious structure, and titan-type figures, aka superentities that are "othered" from the gods, are generally considered as fearsome forces that cause problems but aren't specifically interested in wiping humans off the face of the earth. and the gods themselves, it is understood, are of this world; typically they're either inhabitants of it in some abstract way, or they live in a plane of reality adjacent to it and are directly responsible for making it what it is. but they also, it is understood, cannot be held to human standards; that's why they're gods.
the reason exandrian religion crumbles under interrogation is that real world mythology is metaphor, and exandrian mythology is not. in the real world, mythology is a reflection of humanity, struggling to make sense of big concepts; in exandria, it's objective fact, but there's not really any theological rhyme or reason to any of it. when we tell stories about gods and demons we are not speaking of literal things that our great grandparents experienced, we are telling the stories for their deeper meaning. when you try to do that with exandrian mythology, it becomes a story of how the natural world has to be conquered and die in order for mortals to survive and the underpinnings of the universe are one big illusion, but they can still grant you real, tangible power. when you try to take it as a metaphor, it kind of sucks.
i'm not suggesting matt did this on purpose; i think it largely happened by accident. in c1 they started out using pathfinder deities, and then he transitioned into a sort of half-original version of them, then solidified them into a specific pantheon with clear influences from preexisting deities, but with his own explanations for why they exist. i also think he deliberately avoided making them too much like real world deities in order to avoid stepping on any real world toes, which is understandable. it is the struggle of any high fantasy enthusiast to have tangible gods make sense without being world breaking. but the point is that all these little changes and additions and careful avoidance of real-world issues added up to paint a poor picture in their own right, and then he drew his entire audience's attention to it by choosing to do a campaign about whether or not the gods should be allowed to exist. and even so, this might've worked out okay, had the players come to the game with a different mix of characters. we can see the difference in how vm and m9 reacted to the situation; a different group could've taken this story down a much more compelling path than bh did.
in the same vein, i think another ongoing issue in how this has played out is matt being anxious about people projecting their feelings about real world religion onto the plot. i don't blame him; he's under immense pressure to perform with the size of their fanbase nowadays, and i remember how many people were shitting their proverbial pants over the traveler's offhand comment about how there's no purpose to the universe back in c2. i get why he doesn't want to deal with that again. and i think the players are also afraid to be seen as either condoning religious oppression or condemning personal belief, so they've been hesitant to take a strong stance on anything, for fear that no matter what they choose fans will bring their own feelings about religion into their reactions to the game. the only exception, really, has been taliesin, and we see how much anger and criticism he gets from fans every single week who assume he's using ashton as a mouthpiece for his own ideals, even though he played an explicitly pro-god character last campaign.
and matt, presumably realizing this was becoming a problem, has backtracked instead of doubling down on the stance of "this has nothing to do with reality, stop projecting," both to his players and the audience. instead, he's grown increasingly vague about what, if any, the actual consequences of all this will be. there was no question of the consequences in c1 or c2 being catastrophic. but now we're working with a plot for which, it seems, there are no real consequences either way. apparently, everything will stay the same no matter what the bh choose, because apparently, saying "there will be catastrophic consequences for releasing a godeater" is the same in some people's minds as "mortals need religion in order to be good." it's the issue of our real-world religious metaphors running into the exandrian religious literalism again.
the problem then becomes that, in order to not take a stance of either "religion bad" or "religion necessary," he has had to create a plot for which all outcomes are the same, so bh just have to make the moral, philosophical decision on behalf of the entire world of whether or not the gods "deserve" to live. which is crazy! no wonder the players have constantly been plagued by indecision, second guessing, and lack of direction. by removing any distinct outcome either way, they've avoided making a statement that anyone might be upset by--and also created an ending with no substance or emotional impact.
honestly i feel like i could dissect this more, but i think the point has been made well enough: this campaign has died a death by a thousand cuts.

Make a Move
Atsumu Miya x reader
~Sometimes when two idiots fall in love with each other, all it takes is a little motivation to get the ball rolling.
W.C 2.6k
Warnings; Kissing, awkwardness, trickery, clichés, and Osamu Miya being a pretty good wingman.
Tumblr media
The smell of roasted coffee beans and flaky pastries float through the air surrounding your little table. The caffeinated cloud invigorates you, ripping the last remnants of drowsiness from your brain.
Warm beams of sunlight pour in through the large scenic windows and dance upon the leaves of the large indoor plants that surround your secluded coffee spot. The one where you and your dear friend, Atsumu Miya spend many an afternoon shooting the breeze and pretending that there isn't anything more to your friendship.
The Faux-blonde athlete is all smiles as he animatedly tells you a story about what happened on his most recent away trip with his professional volleyball team, the MSBY Jackals.
"Can ya believe it y/n?" he grins, unaware of the chocolate-drizzled whipped cream that clings to his cheek. "Turns out, that idiot was so dead tired after the match, he passed out on the Bus' toilet. His pants were at his ankles, and he was droolin' over all the toilet paper."
"At least he was wearing his underwear," you laugh, doing your best not to cackle over the soft sound of the cafe's radio.
Atsumu's crooked smile never falters as he continues to speak adamantly, only pausing to take a long slip from his drink from his coffee with a too-short straw. Although, with energy like his you doubt he needs it.
By the time he sets the drink down, even more whipped cream has gotten onto his face. The sight makes you chuckle.
"What ya lookin' at me like that for?" he asks, the pink of his cheeks becoming more visible against the whip as he furrows his brow.
"You have a little something on your face, Tsumu," you giggle
"R-really?" his brown eyes widen as he wipes at his face with one of the paper napkins crumpled on the center of the table. He takes a bit of the mess with him, but there is still quite a bit of sugar smeared against his skin. "Did I get it?"
"Not quite. You still have some on your cheek," you answer, tapping your own cheek for reference.
He tries to mirror your movements but wipes the wrong side with a confidence that makes your heart melt. "How about now?" he asks, looking at you expectantly. Fighting the laughter, you shake your head. "Damn, I really thought I had it this time."
"Here, let me," you say. And you don't know what compels you to do this, but you gently reach across the table and tenderly sweep the sweet cream off his chin. His skin is smoother than you thought it would be; Now that you think of it, you have never seen him with any kind of facial hair. You wonder if he can grow it at all.
Lost in thought, you don't realize how long you have been touching his face until his eyes go wide and flicker to yours. "Sorry, I-I don't know why I did that," you murmur embarrassedly. The flustered heat crawls up your skin, and you want the ground beneath you to open up and swallow you whole. "I-it was just a reflex."
If he was your boyfriend, this gesture would've been wholesome albeit the slightest bit cringy, but the fact of the matter, and the fuel to the fire of shame that flushes your skin, is simply this;
Atsumu Miya is not yours; He doesn't love you.
He regains his composure faster than you would give him credit for and meets your gaze. "Hah, thanks for that." he grins. "I guess I couldn't get it on my own."
Relieved that he wasn't creeped out by your sudden unintentional boldness, the two of you continue your coffee break, but despite your smile, you cannot ignore the painful twisting in your chest.
~
There is a spring in Atsumu's step as he walks to his front door. His keys rattle along to the tune of the silly little song he hums to himself. Between the massive win from yesterday and lunch with you today, he finds himself on cloud nine.
He opens the front door to his penthouse apartment to find his twin brother sprawled out on the couch, video game controller in his hands as he speaks through a headset chatting with his friends as they play online.
He gives him a nod and grabs an extra controller from the coffee table to hand to his Brother. "Where were you today Tsumu? Ya didn't have practice."
He grabs the controller and settles down on the couch. "I was out getting coffee with y/n"
Osamu's lips curl into a knowing smirk as he chuckles into the mic, "For the third time in a week."
"Oooh, Tsum Tsum's gotta crush?" a slightly-staticy voice gushes from the microphone. He recognizes it as his Jackals teammate Bokuto.
"Yeah, he's crazy about them. Every single time you guys have an off day, he is out with them and comes back with that dopey grin on his face."
"Ohhh is that the same person he is always facetiming with when we are in the hotels?" Another, slightly higher-pitched voice asks.
Atsumu's cheeks redden as he pulls the microphone away from his Brother's mouth and yells into it." Hey! Stop snitching on me, Shoyo. It's completely normal for friends to hang out and talk on the phone."
Out of the corner of his eye, he notices Osamu's dark eyebrows shoot up in surprise. "Oh, just friends? You aren't together?"
Atsumu takes a deep breath and clenches his fists as everyone pauses to hear his answer. "No, we aren't together." but as the sentence leaves his lips he feels something akin to guilt clinging on to his heart.
Why do those words not sound right?
"Ohh I see," he Brother replies as his identical features twist into a smug smirk. "Then you wouldn't mind if I asked them out?"
"W-what?"
"Ohhh, plot twist," Bokuto squeals over the mic. "Samu's stepping into the ring."
"It's like one of those reality TV shows," Hinata adds enthusiastically.
"Why would you ask e'm out?" Atsumu asks his twin. The question sounds more like an accusation as the coffee he drank earlier swirls around dangerously in his stomach.
"Because I think they're cute," Samu says plainly. "And if ya aren't into them, you shouldn't have a problem with it."
He grits his teeth and childishly tosses his controller onto the couch. There are too many emotions inside of him, he cannot process it. Screw the game, he just needs to get away.
"Hey, Tsumu?" his Brother calls, watching him storm off down the hall. "Where ya going?"
"Shower," he grunts, stomping off toward the bathroom in hopes that some time under the hot water could help him make sense of things.
As he locks himself in the bathroom, he fails to notice the mischievous smile that curves his Brother's lips.
~
It's been a few days since your awkwardness at the coffee shop with Atsumu, and you have shaken off the shame that had been clinging to you like a leech…mostly.
Okay, some of it may still be hanging on, but you ignore the unwelcome weight as you get closer and closer to the tall door to the twins' apartment. Although it is not Atsumu you are spending time with today, Osamu was the one to extend the invite this time around.
The young chef called you yesterday afternoon, inviting you to swing by and test out a few potential items he wants to add to his restaurant's menu. Never one to turn down helping out a friend or the chance to eat some of his cooking for free, you hastily agreed.
The rubber soles of your sneakers hit the welcome mat as you step across the threshold like it's second nature.
Osamu is hard at work in the kitchen, dicing vegetables with an impressive-looking knife. His dark brows furrowed in concentration as he makes quick work of an onion. The fumes waft through the air, threatening to bring tears to your eyes as he works, seemingly unaffected.
Hey, ya made it!" he beams, setting the knife down when he notices your lingering presence.  I'm still prepping some stuff, but make yourself at home."
"Thanks," you say, setting your bag on the other side of the massive marble island. "Is there anything I can help with?"
"Nah, I think I have everything taken care of." he says, turning quickly to stir a simmering pot on the stove.
"Okay," you murmur, glancing around the surprisingly clean apartment looking for any sign of life. "So where's Atsumu today?"
"Still at practice I think," Osamu replies, his back to you as he works. "He'll be home later."
"Oh, I see." You frown slightly. Poorly concealed disappointment is woven into your tone.
"Wow, tell me how ya really feel." Osamu chuckles, calling you out on your subtle favoritism.
An embarrassed heat rushes to your cheek as you struggle to find a way out of the mess you have made for yourself. "I'm sorry Samu, it's just Tsumu and I had kind of an awkward moment the other day and I had hoped that we could get back to normal."
His eyebrows shoot up in curiosity. "Oh? Awkward how?"
Taking a deep breath, you explain the whole whipped cream thing from the other day, and by the time you are done, Hyena-like cackles fill the room as he wipes tears from his eyes.
"I can't believe that," he gasps, holding his stomach, finding humor in the situation that is lost on you. "Ya really wiped his face and everything?"
"I didn't think it was that bad," you frown. Osamu knows his twin better than anyone. Is it possible that his reaction is similar to what Atsumu was thinking when you first did it? Have you ruined any chance of returning to the way things were?
All the 'what if's' pull you deeper into your own head as your moarle sinks deeper into it's depths. You don't even realize that Osamu has slid a plate in front of you until the steam from the rice and seasonings reaches your nose.
"Order up," he says, "Looks like I lost ya there."
You clear your throat "Sorry, I'm back, I was just thinking."
"Well, it's time to think about the food," he places his hand on his heart dramatically. "This is my livelihood y/n."
Steam rises off three freshly shaped rice balls, each one is topped simply, but you have a feeling that the fillings within are anything but. "These look so good," you relent, shifting your attention. You poke the one closest to you curiously. "Which is which?'
He smirks and sits across from you at the kitchen table. "It's a surprise, you'll have to' guess what's inside."
Your stomach growls as you reach for one, but freeze when the front door swings open. Atsumu stands in the doorway, his eyes darting between you and his Brother.
"Oh, you're back," you say, giving him your best attempt of an unembarrassed smile. Your words spur him forward, but he walks straight past you and over to his Brother. Osamu is now wearing a smug smirk on his face.
"What are you doing, Samu?" he says darkly.
"Nothing at all Tsumu, just what I was talking about the other day." He coos, continuing the staredown.
Watching the Twins have a stand-off like this is strange; you have seen them bicker amongst themselves hundreds of times, but those arguments have this warm energy to them. This one is cold, and a deep shiver rattles your spine, chilling you to the bone. They seem to be speaking to each other telepathically making your spot at the countertop seem like one in the corner.
It's awkward, and you feel that it is not your place to intrude.
You should go.
As quiet as a mouse, you slip off of your barstool. If you can leave the apartment without being caught, twins will be able to work through whatever problem they are having with each other a little faster.
But apparently, the stool you were on doesn't quite get the memo and scrapes noisily against the floor. The ungraceful sound stops the twin's silent staredown as the turn to look at you instead.
Your cheeks warm under Atsumu's gaze, and your mouth grows painfully dry. "Sorry, I'll be going now, I'll see you guys later.."
"Y/n, wait." Atsumu says, his eyes are wide as he rushes over to you.
"Tsumu? what are yo~" Those trembling hands of his take hold of you, your chin tilted upward as he clumsily places his lips on your own. You don't even think about it as you kiss him back, pouring your years of pining into the act, but instead of feeling empty, your heart overflows as the one person you have wanted for so long is yours.
Your head spins as the familiar taste of whipped cream tingles your taste buds, but you're pretty sure you're hallucinating it due to the lack of oxygen.
He's panting when he pulls away, his lips kiss swollen and pupils dilated as they stare into yours. But neither of you want to break the spell.
You need to talk about this.
You need to make sure this isn't just a one-time thing.
But your fuzzy, floaty brain can't bring itself to act, not now.
"Wow, that could've worked out any better," Osamu, who you forgot was still in the room, says clasping his hands together. The distraction was just what you needed to rewire your brain and pull away from his Twin. The grey-haired man has a look of pure victory on his face as he glances between the two of you. "I'll leave you kids to talk it out now."
"What are ya talking about, Samu?" Atsumu exclaims, his hand grabs your own as his Brother passes the two of you as if he were afraid that his twin will walk right out the door with you. "Are ya saying ya planned this whole thing?"
Osamu pauses briefly in the doorway, fingers lingering on the wood as he smiles, shooting you guys a wink. "Yep. See you later, lovebirds."
The door slams behind him, leaving you and Atsumu alone in the apartment. The space feels much bigger than it did a few minutes ago.
"Hey." your thumb brushes against his knuckles gently and you give him a smile.  "Soooo, I guess this means that you like me too."
"Too?" he says, his tone laced in elated surprise as if his tongue wasn't just down your throat. "Do ya really like me then?" he asks hopefully.
"Yes," you laugh. "I've liked you for a while, actually. But I was worried that I was too obvious about it, and I made you uncomfortable."
Mind. Blown.
Atsumu seems to be having an eureka moment. His features go from confusion to contemplation to realization as he replays your previous interactions in his head.  "Woah, I guess I had no clue. I was too focused on not makin a fool of myself to notice," he says at last. "But Samu saw right through us. Huh?"
"I guess he did." you chuckle; before this, you have only thought that this level of denseness only existed in bad fanfiction or made-for-television romcoms, but here you are.
"Damn, I'll have to thank him," he breathes; there is nothing but affection in his gaze as he cups your face. "But first, we gotta make up for lost time."

Can I make a angsty hurt/comfort request ?
Okay, so it’s like male!reader who’s a father to a kid, and he has the team over for dinner after a case.
Then his kid decides to come out to him by saying like “I’m gay, I like the same gender” or whatever (but obviously not like that but similar??)
And then reader goes like “you’re not gay, silly! Everyone likes the same gender a little bit! Maybe even more than the opposite gender!” But could you please add this dialogue in because I think it would be funny!! And he’s like: “I sometimes fantasise about being in a relationship/having sex (whichever you want to write) with your friend’s dad, but that doesn’t mean I’m gay!”
And the team and his kid look at him with shock/horror/confusion and he’s just standing there like… “what..? 😅” because he actually thinks this (his parents were homophobic and took him to conversion therapy when he asked if everyone like the same gender in that way)
Then someone from the team takes his kid out of the room to tell them that they’re valid and stuff and the rest of the team explain to reader that no, not everyone likes the same gender and that he might need to try and discover himself.
Plus whatever else you want!! Happy or sad ending is up to you!! (I think happy would be nice but maybe it can be a sad ending and a part two ??)
No pressure!! This is all up to you and you don’t even have to write it!!!
Love you !!!
- 🎀
Hiya, thank you for sending this in, this is an amazing idea! I hope I've done it justice (and sorry it's taken me so long)
Warnings: homophobia, internal homophobia (saying these just in case)
"I, um, I wanted to tell you all something." You watched as your son, Ethan shifts nervously for a moment. "I'm gay."
You shake your head, "No, you're not." And just like that, everyone around you freezes. "Everyone has a crush on the same gender." You wave your hand, dismissing him.
Ethan's face drops slightly, pushing the food on his plate around with his fork. "Look, I'm just saying it's normal to like the same gender, even more than the opposite gender. Take me, for example, I have crushes on men all the time. Like your friend Nathan, his dad? I have thoughts all the time about how I'd want to be in a relationship with him. That doesn't make me gay."
You look around, sensing everyone's eyes on you. A variety of different emotions are going around the table, shock, horror, disbelief, hurt.
"What?" You ask, taking another bite of pasta.
Garcia looks at Ethan, "Come on, let's step out for a minute," She gives him a kind smile and they both leave the room, Reid following them.
You look at the remaining members of the team, "What?"
"You know that's not true, right?"
"What's not true?"
"Not everyone is attracted to the same sex," Morgan said, you rolled your eyes.
"Yes, Morgan, they are." You shrugged, "Ethan's just confused. He'll come to terms with it."
"I don't think Ethan's the one who's confused." Prentiss chimed.
"What do you mean?" You ask, giving a soft scoff. "Of course he is."
"I think you're confused." Reid spoke up.
"Everyone has those thoughts." You stated.
"No, they haven't." Morgan argued, "I have never once found another man attractive."
"Not one?" You asked, finding that hard to believe.
"No."
You blinked. None of thise made any sense. "You're joking, you've got to be."
"What makes you think it's normal?"
"When I told my parents about it, that's what they said."
"They told you that?" Prentiss asked, sharing a look with Morgan.
"Yeah," You nodded. "So, I carried on with my life. And Ethan will do the same."
Morgan frowned, before sighing. "It's not something everyone thinks or feels, (Y/N)." He paused.
"Wait. No, hold on." You said, rubbing a hand over your face. "Does that mean that-?"
When you don't finish the sentence, Prentiss does for you. "That you like men?"
"Yeah." You said awkwardly at the question.
"Probably." Was her response.
You frowned. That quite literally went against everything you thought you knew about yourself. Your relationship with Ethan's mum before you separated, as well as every relationship with a woman ever. As well as the bond you had felt growing up with your best friend.
"That changes things." You said, blinking slowly. "I should probably go speak to Ethan."
The team gave soft nods and you headed out into the lounge, where Ethan was, leaning against Garcia, eyes red with Reid on his left. Your heart sank, you looked a lot like that after the conversation with your parents actually. You swallowed, trying to ignore the twinge in your stomach at the thought of passing this confusion onto your son as your parents had you.
"Ethan?" You asked softly, he looked up, quick to wipe the tears from his eyes. "Can I speak to you quickly?"
He only nods when Penelope squeezes his hand in reassurance. "We can stay here, if you want." She says to him softly, and he nods again.
You swallow heavily once again. "I'm sorry." You stated, carefully sitting in the seat opposite him. "I... I wasn't aware that it wasn't something everyone experienced. I repeated what my parents told me and in doing so, I hurt you."
Ethan watches you for a second. "It's not your fault-"
"You don't need to try to make me feel better kid." You said, "I told you what they told me, and in doing so, I invalidated you and your feelings. I dismissed you, and that's not okay."
When he opens his mouth to argue, you give him a firm look and he sighs slightly. "But you also didn't know any better."
"I should have." You reminded, "But I do now. So, I'm so sorry for how I reacted. And I'm glad you felt comfortable enough to talk to me about it, and I'm sorry my original reaction wasn't what you were expecting, or what you deserved."
"That's okay dad," Ethan smiled, a split second passed. "So, Nathan's dad, huh?"
"I will ground you."
"That's a hate crime."

my brain: hey
me: what
my brain: what if you made headcanons about team prime with a chronically ill/disabled human
me: THAT'S GENIUS LEVEL SHIT LET'S DO IT
Tumblr media
Team Prime taking care of a chronically ill/disabled human
Fandom: Transformers Prime
Ft. Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Arcee (+ Jack), Bumblebee (+ Raf), Bulkhead (+ Miko).
Content: Headcanons, platonic comfort, fluff. Reader's illness isn't directly stated. Mentions of mobility aids, flare-ups, pain/discomfort (caused by said chronic illness). Reader is implied to be an ambulatory wheelchair user. Dividers by dollywons.
A/N: this was very self indulgent (and comforting to make), i have plague psoriasis and god it is not easy living with it with all the flare ups, skin issues, psoriatic arthritis... >:( i'm doing a lot better now, i first wrote this while i was having a pretty bad flare-up. as of now i'm fine, but even now it still scars me
to ya'll who are suffering too from a chronic condition, i want you to know that you're loved, and your illness doesn't define who you are. you're not alone. this journey won't be easy, but there will be others willing to support and share that burden with you. take care! <3
Tumblr media
tfp banners made by me in picsart! i would prefer if you didn't use these, since i have made them specifically for these headcanons, but i can't exactly stop you, can i? lol. just don't claim as your own
soft autobot hijinks ensue. long post ahead!
Tumblr media
After they had been newly introduced to you, the Autobots had swiftly picked up on the fact that you were in need of a bit of extra assistance than the regular human, considering your condition. And they're more than willing to give the support that you need.
Optimus Prime
Tumblr media
Optimus takes on the role of a protective maternal figure for you rather quickly.
He reminds you to take it easy, and that your body needs its rest. He wouldn't want you to strain yourself.
He may collaborate with Ratchet- whether that be to ask for advice, research together about your illness(es), or for the both of them to care for you.
If you're a wheelchair user, he'll request Agent Fowler to make modifications to the base so it's more accessible to you and easier to get to certain areas. Ramps, platform lifts, and disability-friendly stuff in general will be installed. Also, your meds/supplements, comfort items and things you may need will be easy to retrieve here at base. He wants to make sure you have the best quality of life here.
It makes his spark ache to know you're in so much discomfort. He wishes he can do more to ease your pain, and feels guilty that he can't do much more. He wants nothing more but for you to feel safe and happy.
Optimus is a good listener. He likes hearing about your interests and hobbies, even if he may not understand it the most. And you're more than welcome to vent to him.
If you want, he'll tell stories from his past back on Cybertron, before he was a Prime. Maybe you could share some memories with him, too. Optimus is just happy to talk with you, and it brings him a sense of warmth when he sees you in an uplifted mood.
Sometimes, he'll cradle you in his servos, his touch giving you a sense of security. As he does that, he'll reassure you with encouraging words and remind you of how much you are worth.
"You're so strong, little one. Despite everything, you strive on and keep going, even in the darkest of times... you're truly more than meets the eye. I'm proud of you. I mean it."
Tumblr media
Ratchet
As a medic, he cares. Ratchet educates himself about your illness and does whatever he can to aid you. He'll research your illness's effects, triggers for flare-ups, basically everything. Also, expect him to ask you questions from time to time.
He is a bit more prepared to care for you, since he has dealt with patients back on Cybertron that were disabled and/or ill long-term.
When you're around, he's always sure to keep a watchful eye on you. He's also visibly more concerned and caring when it comes to you. (The others find it endearing. Don't tell Ratchet, though!)
"Have you taken your meds/supplements already? No? Go take them. You need them, after all."
"Do you need a boost? Here, let me help you."
Ratchet opens up more than usual when he's with you. He's even more soft with you when you have flare-ups! He can't help but let his usual grumpy self falter when he sees you in this state... He orders you not to move around too much or put yourself in more discomfort.
If you ever need to vent about your struggles and insecurities, Ratchet's there for you. Sure, he may not be the best with handling emotions, but he'll be there to listen. He'll try to the best of his abilities to console and reassure you. He has your back, and is never leaving your side.
Arcee (+ Jack)
Tumblr media
She's sooo protective of you. Seeing you as part of her extended family, along with the other humans, she is fiercely protective when it comes to you. She'll go above and beyond to ensure of your safety and well-being. The last thing she'd want is for you to be in pain, let lose you.
Being the smallest of the team has its perks! With her size being the closest to a human, Arcee can easily fetch you your aids and medications whenever you need it. Just say the word, and she'll speed off to get your desired item (and you might not even need to say the word, it's like she already knows it by instinct).
She'd be really good at giving advice. Honest and firm, yet reassuring and gentle.
"You're doing awesome. Keep up the good work." She'd say to you after you've done even the smallest of achievements. Had your breakfast? Well done! Drank water? Good job! Took time to rest? Amazing!
She's the greatest at hyping you up. "You can do this. You're unstoppable!"
She isn't usually one for physical affection, but she enjoys just.. being present with you. You'll have her sitting by you or silently supervising you.
Jack also is frequently concerned about you. Not to the point where he is a constant worrywart, but he does care. You'll get a "How are you doing?" or something along the lines of that from time to time.
Arcee is a mama bear. Anything or anyone trying to hurt you? They're as good as scrap. Speaking of mamas...
Jack's mom? Every time June visits, she always wants to check up on you. She brings in monthly care packages specially made for you, filled with snacks, medications and supplements! Jack was a little embarrassed at first when she started giving those to you, and with her coddling you, but he's gotten used to it. As long as you're okay and cared for, he's okay too.
Tumblr media
Bumblebee (+ Raf)
Bumblebee was initially quite concerned about you. This was the first time that he's ever heard of humans being ill long-term. And the fact they have to go through so much? It makes him feel bad.
He's very clingy and caring to you! He likes spending quality time with you, and he may invite you to fun drives out with Raf! That is, of course if you are physically able to. If not, then maybe a video game or movie will do.
Bee joyfully beeps at you in greeting. "Bee's happy to see you! He's asking how you've been." Raf helps to translate.
Bumblebee is your source of emotional support and comfort. He really does love and cherish you, and is super affectionate!! He wants to make sure you're happy as often as possible.
Headrubs, hugs, a hand- or rather, a finger on your shoulder, holding you- all of it is a must!
During dark days, he's always there to provide support for you. Vocal comfort isn't exactly the best option for consoling, so physical comfort is the next best thing for him to bring you comfort. Hugs, nuzzles, pats, anything to give you those warm and fuzzy feelings.
He may not be able to voice his love for you properly, but he certainly can and will express it with whatever way he can to make sure you are constantly loved by him, regardless if you have you have your illness or not!
Tumblr media
Bulkhead (+ Miko)
Bulkhead treats you as if you were made of glass (not like he does it with the other kids). Extremely gentle and careful. He's a gentle giant to the core.
He also asks a lot of questions to know how your illness works and what you may need.
Miko likes cracking up jokes or offer to watch movies and/or play games in order to make you happy.
In all honesty, she isn't very confident in comforting others verbally, despite her talkative and outgoing personality. But Miko still wants to give support whenever you need it!
Cuddle pile!! Bulkhead and Miko will set up a cozy little area for all three of you to just relax, filled to the brim with blankets, pillows and snacks. You and Miko will be resting against both sides of Bulk, while his servos gently hold both of you, acting as a warm, secure blanket for you two.
Your smile never fails to make him smile as well. "Aww, well aren't you just precious. Glad to know you're feeling happy."
Seeing you in pain, whether it be physical or mental, also never fails to stab him with a pang of sorrow. Immediately comes to your side to comfort you. "Hey, hey. It's gonna be alright. Here, lean on me."
Bulkhead is always there to lend a hand- or servo, whenever you are in need of it. If you just want to spend time with him for a while or cry your feelings out, he'll pat your back reassuringly with kind words.
Tumblr media
thanks so much for reading! feel free to request something if you'd like. you can request for more disabled/chronic illness related stuff, too!! ^_^ i'd be happy to write for it, and i'll do it to the best of my efforts. INTERACTIONS/REBLOGS HIGHLY APPRECIATED!!!! i worked hard on this
