(ventpost sorry, you can just skip)
not people leaving my d&d campaign because “i get hungry af” (when it’s at 1 and they have plenty of time to eat, and obviously i’m not going to order food because i’m fasting)
and because “the party keeps splitting up so one group has a lot of inactive time” (which isn’t my decision! the players keep deciding to split up and i can’t run both sides at once)
and because “every npc hates me” because you keep either threatening them/their families or rolling low on charisma checks. how is that my fault.
we started off with a bigger party and i expected some people to leave but. pretty much everyone is leaving and it’s just gonna end soon i can feel it.
i feel like i’m a terrible dm, and none of my friends like me or like being around me, and i’m only tolerable in small amounts, and everyone’s going to leave me and i’m going to be alone forever, and everything is pointless and nobody cares about me or actually enjoys things when i’m involved.
one of the people leaving is joining another party too, so they do like d&d, they just don’t like my campaign. it’s not fair, why does nobody actually like me. snd part of this is probably just because i’m already stressed and entering a depressive episode but still.
this is so pathetic i cant believe d&d is making me spiral.

I love how much Lucullus can't stand Pompey, and also this
Pompey the Great: A Political Biography, Robin Seager
with something from this thrown in for extra flavor
Crassus and Pompey, on the other hand, ridiculed Lucullus for giving himself up to pleasure and extravagance, as if a luxurious life were not even more unsuitable to men of his years than political and military activities.
Plutarch, Lucullus

Ive seenyou mention wuxia a few times now and i wonder what that is. Would you mind explaining it to me?
not the most qualified person to explain this as i'm not, in fact, from china; but i've read a couple of wuxia so here goes:
wuxia is a genre of fiction from china specifically, about martial artists in ancient china. i don't think a specific time period is like required? obviously some dynasties are more popular but idk how it goes in that front. it just has to be Not Today and probably Too Long Ago. like pre industral revolution i think. again idk if that's a requirement, but most i've seen are from around the same relative murky pre-electricity era.
xianxia is a subgenre of wuxia that's specifically more fantasy-like, and it's not just martial arts, but also spiritual powers and cultivation (which i have no fucking clue how to explain without two hours and three tangents other than chinese magic system. if you've ever heard of chi/qi as an energy, it appears there). so like- genshin is by all accounts a xianxia, it just doesn't use the more common specific xianxia terms like cultivation. some of those are very weird to translate and probably not common for the average non-wuxia reader, so it makes sense why they're going for alternatives.
chongyun and xingqiu and xianyun are very much straight out of a xianxia. xianyun's entire story quest was the closest genshin has gotten to a straight xianxia plot so far. i highly reccomend ashikai's video on unnecessary visions if you want more info on why genshin is a xianxia hahah
cyanide narwhal has some talk of some stuff from xianxia, but that's mostly because well- fucking liyue, that's how it works there. the whole light energy striking down someone who's getting powerful and giving them godhood if they survive the strike is, while not exactly like that, something that happens in some xianxia as well.
like the way adepti work in general is just very xianxia. ashikai does a much better job explaining it than i do tbh but yeah
TL;DR: wuxia is chinese martial arts fiction in ancient china, and xianxia is a wuxia subgenre with more magic elements. also genshin is a xianxia

this is not an original thought, but the number of people on this site who go on and on about wanting to "tear down the system" and think that it is apparently the only ethical choice you can make as opposed to trying to work with the system to change it and then................don't take any steps towards "tearing down the system"..............is kind of hilarious

Kit, kit kit!!! In the couples counseling AU what would a anakin do if Obi-Wan seriously started considering dating someone else for real? Or like, what if Ashoka starts introducing potential partners for Obi-Wan?!
oooo what a question ok
i think honestly anakin would be able to rationalize it to himself after some very late night pacing. he would think ah yes this is great because obi-wan my most beloved master deserves more than casual one night stands in the lower levels with people who don't know to touch him worshipfully after all his body has been through and done for the republic and the galaxy. it's the people sleeping with obi-wan, that's the problem! that's what anakin doesn't like! obi-wan deserves to be vulnerable and feel safe with someone, he deserves someone to kiss up and down the lightning scars decorating his chest, the saber wound scar on his thigh, the freckles over his shoulders, the---
ANYWAY, what anakin means to say is it's a GREAT idea for obi-wan to start dating around. he deserves to find someone like anakin's angel.
of course, for safety concerns, anakin will need to meet them immediately and vet them to make sure their intentions are true and pure when it comes to his master. it's very important they pass the anakin test before spending alone time with his master. that's his master.

if I don’t get a parallel to the curse womb must die arc at the end of the series, with Megumi and Yuuji’s roles reversed — smiling at each other as they bleed out, Megumi surfacing just long enough to decide how to end things himself — then WHAT is the POINT
