question about animism, because its always confused me: since you (or, other animists, i cant say i know YOUR exact beliefs and practices on everything) want to respect all the ingredients you use in a spell because you believe in them all having spirits, like lets say lavender, you might ask for its permission to be used in the spellwork in a certain way, right? and that sometimes you may even give the lavender an offering, to build your relationship with lavender, and like as thanks/giving back after their help in your spell. but, my question is about that offering you might give lavender. if an animist believe everything has a spirit, doesnt that also include the things theyre offering? so, youd give an offering of, say, water, to lavender for helping you out, but then wouldnt you have to give your appreciation to water for being an offering/helping you improve your relationship with lavender? wouldnt that get you caught in, like, a loop of offerings and respect and stuff? just trying to get clarification on this idea, ive been wondering for a while and havent been able to find the answer on my own 😭💀

The act of offering water and the act of asking Lavender to do a work of sorcery for me are not equal acts that carry equal debt.

The reason I work to evoke Lavender into lavender is because the great spirit of Lavender is not already present. He is far away; he is attending to his many important concerns.

I work to call him, and when I have the sights of that powerful god on me, I thank him for his efforts and attention with the offering.

The reason I give Lavender an offering is because he has exerted energy to come to me and to help me, and that energy could be otherwise spent on tending to his personal affairs.

Where is the 'spirit' of the offering?

Well it's not there looking at me, because I never called it. Something can have spiritual presence without being an active vessel for a living spirit.

Something that shapes Witchcraft is the reality that spiritual power is not ubiquitous and evenly distributed! I think it's even fair to argue that the fundamental act of the Witch is learning how to find this power and bring it back and forth across the worlds, because it often isn't already here.

Just because I see a peacock at the zoo doesn't mean I'm in the presence of Lucifer. Just because I see a deer doesn't mean I'm in the presence of Artemis. And just because I offer a cup of water does not mean Water is with me in the room.

But even so: Water is an element. Elements are not Plants. They do not behave the same, not at all; they do not have the same concerns. Water and Lavender are not two members of the same species, they are as alike as a hydrogen atom is to an elephant.

Water is not Oceans, Streams, or Rain; Water is also not the Gray Toad, the King of Water, the Gatekeeper of the West (which is where I place water), or even an undine or a water elemental by any name.

Water is Water, which is a fundamental metaphysical building-block; it is not living in the common sense. Lavender is a living god that governs its living children in the middle world, and while it may be eternally accessible through the mystical, it could actually be killed in the physical; it is possible for this genetic strain to be eliminated and its children born no more. The same cannot be said for Water.

I belabor the point to say: just because Lavender and Water both have an essence beyond their mere physical bodies does not mean they want or need to be treated the same ways.

And just because I use an object in magic does not mean I am requesting favors from a spirit that should be rightfully repaid.

hi! im a pro endo system with DID who wants final fusion for my traumagenic sysmates. i cant speak for everyone, but i can explain why i personally want it:

for me, i dont see fusion as alters "not existing anymore." i see it as becoming a more solidified version of myself. these separated parts of me all represent pieces of what could be a whole me, and ive noticed my sense of overall identity growing stronger as ive done more work towards general integration.

if my alters were to fuse, i believe they would still be themselves, just more whole and able to work together. i also want fusion because i want to lessen my dissociation and amnesia to subclinical levels (since those symptoms distress me) and doing that would most likely result in fusion anyway.

i know this metaphor is used often, but i compare my goals with fusion to how gems fuse in Steven Universe. think Garnet for example- she's made up of 2 gems that are deeply connected to one another, to the point of being able to exist as one entity on a regular basis. thats how i see alter fusion for myself, it wouldnt be "getting rid" of my alters, it would be connecting to other parts of myself so well that we can exist as one and work together consistantly.

it would get rid of a lot of my distress, too. my alters dont currently all get along, and thats not a reflection of my syscourse stances, thats just part of my disorder. i was abused in a way that made me hate various parts of myself, and that self hatred manifested as alters who disagree and harm one another. i want to get everyone on the same page about what we want out of life, i dont want my alters to harm each other, and thats all part of my efforts to generally integrate.

while i havent achieved a fusion yet, i have achieved some level of integration across my system, and that's been a huge positive for my mental health. having a more rounded and clear vision of my overall identity has made me feel more secure and confident in how i navigate the world, and its helped some of my alters feel less isolated since they can connect to this overall identity im figuring out.

obviously fusion isnt for everyone, and other systems who do want fusion may have totally different reasons for it, but these are my personal thoughts/experiences!

Can someone explain why a system might want to fuse into one person again? Does anyone have experience with that? Do headmates actually want that in some cases? Is it only because they hate being a system or because they hate each other?

Because any time we see someone talking about fusion it's from anti endo DID systems who hate each other and think being a system is awful. And we kind of really hate that.

We don't understand why headmates might literally want to stop existing. It doesn't seem healthy. But we also don't want to judge people without trying to understand.

Jason could've killed the Joker himself, really, really easily. Jason kidnaps the Joker before the confrontation. I can't open my comic for a reference right now, but it felt like he had the Joker for quite a bit before the confrontation. He had him. He beat him up with a crowbar. He had every single opportunity to kill the Joker himself, but he didn't because that wasn't his goal. Make no mistake, he did plan for the Joker to be dead by the end of it, but do you see what im trying to say here

I think the most baffling thing about the Tulpar as a vessel to me is the fact that the ship really did only have a one way communication system.

I know it was cheap but even the most basic of vessels regarding major transport would have some way, shape or form for outside communication. Not only that but there was absolutely no form of innate emergency signal to show they may have been offline or in trouble despite clearly having a system to dock credits if they went off course. It's another factor that really shows that bad situations are made to get worse by design. One person who is required to relay all information to the crew and make all the choices without feedback. No way to update or call for help in case of a dire situation. No way to inform of inner personal conflicts and acquire procedures accordingly.

It really is like they are all in some sort of fucked up solitary confinement. They have their own world with strict roles that are meaningless in the end, as long as the cargo makes it, it doesn't matter what happens on that ship to the company. They don't want to hear anything and will come to conclusions on what happened based on how much pay they can withhold from the workers. Even what they do send is short, sterile and corporate to the extent it was likely written and sent out with a command by some random unmanned computer in an office.

There's something to be said about how unfair it is to force absolute power and control onto one person when you as an entity could do so much more to offload it but I've said it many times before so I won't again.

Re:Kinder Fun Facts of the day☺️!!! Have you ever wondered who talks the most from the main cast in Re:Kinder?? Well, I did😊. Today I'll be answering this question with some graphs and as a bonus telling you what words each character uses the most! I will warn you, this will be a bit long and I don't know how to be less verbose so, yeah!!!

First, I've made some basic rules as to what I counted regarding how much the characters speak. Not all lines really count as speaking, after all.

Any of the incoherent screaming lines don't count. There's a lot of screaming since the characters die a lot (as expected for a horror RPG game), but I don't really count that as speaking unless they're saying proper words. In that same vein, I didn't really count any of the panting or sniffing and such that are conveyed through words. Again, I don't really see that as a character actively speaking their thoughts!

If I cannot tell who a line belongs to, I will not give it to anyone. This happens for certain lines, so I felt this rule was important.

I won't be counting repetitions of the same line if it's on a variation of the same scene. This may sound a bit strange, but when a character dies, the game goes on to the same next scene it would regardless (unless the scene that follows it is an ending), with variations and new lines here and there to account for the dead character, but a lot will be reused and placed in the exact same beats it normally would have been in originally. So, this rule is here for that. Oh, and also the scenes with bits of Yuuichi's backstory that appear in Shunsuke's head won't be counted twice, because some appear twice line by line.

Of course, the "..." lines won't count. I am so sorry Aya!!!!😞

Now that the ground rules have been set, there's just one thing I want to mention. Though I will count all the total lines for Takumi and Yuuichi like any other character, I just want to mention that first I will have two separate counts for them! Takumi | Takumiel and Yuuichi | Yuuichi's Heart respectively.

Takumiel is separate because I was curious about how much Takumi spoke as an archangel compared to when he was alive. Yuuichi's Heart is because he speaks so much he feels notable enough to be given his own division, even if he and Yuuichi at the end of the day are one person

(I count the silly mind telepathy where Shunsuke is being directly spoken to [and being told things normal Yuu would avoid saying at that point] and the comical theater as Yuuichi's Heart. I clarify in case one assumes he only starts being counted the moment he's directly labelled as Yuuichi's Heart. Any line that can't be distinguished between Yuuichi's Heart and Yuuichi will be given to Yuuichi by default.)

With nothing else to be clarified let's get to the numbers!!!😊😊

You may be thinking— woah, does Shunsuke really speak that much?! You could say that, for a good chunk of those lines are from how he describes interactable points around the map and his inner thoughts, so they aren't all exactly said out loud. The benefit of being the protagonist, I suppose ww

Funny enough, Yuuichi's Heart has almost as many lines as Yuuichi does for not having that much time in the game, being on the higher end between the characters that don't get the benefit of being a protagonist (lol)!

Admittedly I had expected for Rei and Hiroto to have a more similar amount of lines given their nearly equal amount of presence, but for what it is Rei surpassed Hiroto by 51 lines! I also had expected for Takumiel to speak a little bit more than Takumi but turns out the opposite is true.

While the lack of lines of Takumi and Takumiel are to be expected due to their short time on the game, what stands out is Aya not even reaching triple digits between her other peers who are in there for most of the game. This is because a good chunk of Aya's lines in game are silence!^^" And thus weren't counted. If ellipses were a word, she surely would have reached triple digits, but unfortunately they're not.

Now the line count with combined sums of Takumi | Takumiel and Yuuichi | Yuuichi's Heart!!!

In here, the ranking isn't affected, with Yuuichi remaining second place and Takumi being last place. But the disparity of everyone's numbers compared to Takumi's feels a bit more clear to see when Takumiel isn't individually counted.

With Yuuichi's line counts combined, Shunsuke remains 318 lines ahead of him, but it also means Yuuichi has a 59% the amount of Shunsuke's lines; and impressive feat for someone who doesn't get the benefit of being the point of view for everything you press... Although he does also have an upper hand over everyone by essentially being the plot of this game ww

But maybe line counts do not suffice to tell how much a character speaks. Yes, Shunsuke has a bunch of lines from everything he interacts with, but is it really reliable to say he speaks all that much in all those lines? A good chunk of those could easily have 3 words each! So with this in mind, let's do a word count.

Even in a word count, Shunsuke has the lead, having a lead of 2,247 words over second place. But we'll see about that when we combine Yuuichi's numbers. Anyway, here's the ranking!

This time, Yuuichi's Heart is the one at second place!!! It's pretty funny that he speaks more than his physical counterpart ww. I genuinely didnt think he'd out yap himself that way when I chose to count for him individually 😭!!! He has a lead of 63 words over himself, but a lead nonetheless.

In here, Rei and Hiroto are more even than in the line counts, with the difference seeming more minimal when put into words. But it also showcases that despite Rei having more lines than Yuuichi's Heart in the line count, those only get to have a bit over half of the amount of words he talks (To be fair he does get to infodump a lot in his section of the game).

And here's the combined word count!!! Suddenly Shunsuke's lead is only by a mere 55 words! So Yuuichi speaks about as much as he does with 318 less lines.

I must admit that I genuinely did not expect it to be that close. When I chose to count the lines for when you interact with things for Shunsuke, I thought he was granted to speak an absurd amount more than anyone else. But turns out that Yuuichi speaks about the same amount out loud when most of Shunsuke's are his own thoughts ww. But it does make sense! He is still the plot of this game.

So, after all those charts, here's the average/middle point of lines and words for characters to have, because why not, it's fun.

Average Line Count (YH and Takumiel counted individually): 197 lines

Average Line Count (When combined): 247 lines

Average Word Count (YH and Takumiel counted individually): 1,333 words

Average Word Count (When combined): 1,666 words

So there it is. That's how much the characters in Re:Kinder speak!

But wait!!! I am not done. I will share with you an additional fun fact... Did you ever want to know what word each of these characters said the most?! This one will be quicker, I do promise.

When it came to counting these words I did not count stop words, that being common words that are used all the time by everyone in English. "I, you, me, the, to, a, my, your, yes, no"... Words like that! Otherwise everyone would have one of those as their most said word and it'd be rather boring to look at. With that said, here are the words these characters say the most!

Shunsuke: Yuuichi - said 40 times! (this genuinely confused me so much im sorry he uses interjections so much I had expected it to be something like "huh" or "um" but no i dont know how this passed by me as i was rounding up all the lines he says or proofreading or writing all of those lines WHAT?!?! its been two days and it still takes me out)

Sayaka: Murderer - Said 7 times (All in one sentence!)

for context the new season is being partly animated by wildbrain i think. flying bark is still working on the show but probably due to all the other projects they've been working on like the atla movie the animation is off.

its understandable that people are upset. lmk has some of the most consistently dynamic and lively animation ive ever seen, and going from that to ok animation kinda sucks. as a culmination of a lot of what the series has been building up to people were inevitably going to be disappointed

at the same time people shouldnt harass animators. like ever. no amount of trying to petition or anything will change the s5, people are just trying to do their job and theres no probably no major changing to the finished product by now. and theres still a lot of that lmk charm in there, and we haven't even seen the whole season yet to judge it. flying bark is still working on it, and even if the animation never reaches the peak of the old seasons it still has the same writers so at least the writing has the chance to live up old standards. idk though we'll just have to wait and see

uuuuuhhh no reason just wanna see the robot get preggers because nobody is really taking advantage of the narrative consequences of the robots of ULTRAKILL having fleshy bits inside them (in my humble opinion hahahaha...hahaha....hah....). Finally rewatching some doctor who, and the episode 'midnight' is such a different experience now what the fuck.

Spent the first half of the episode like "wait the doctor IS being reasonable this is an undiscovered lifeform its just trying to learn things its not its fault people think its creepy </3" and also "this is a bit more contrived than I remember. Why are all these tourists down for Murder after 20 minutes of someone repeating what they say." But of course the episode is having so much fun with itself that I'm having fun too <3

Anyway my crack theory is that the midnight creature is post-finale bill, due to the line, while possessing someone, of "I can move, I can feel again, I'm coming back to life" and all the really obvious evil little smiles
