âYou know I canât be here, Ireh,â you say, casting a wary glance around. âIf Yeonjun sees me, heâll lose his mind.â
âWill you just relax for like half a minute, please?â Ireh sighs, her voice tinged with lighthearted frustration as she tugs you closer to the grit track, the sound of revving engines growing closer. âHeâs probably busy preparing for the race. You know how seriously he takes this.â
You dig your heels into the ground, stopping both of you in your tracks. âGirl, please be serious. Weâre practically on the track! He could spot me in a heartbeat.â
Avoiding your older brother isnât really in your nature; youâve always been inseparable. You and Yeonjun are like two cubes of ice that no matter how much you whack them, they stay glued together. He always protects you, teaches you the ropes on how to navigate life even though there is only 3 years between you, and you would probably class him as one of your best friends.Â
Yet, he never wants you to come to his races.
Yeonjun is one of, if not the best illegal drag racer in the city. Heâs built respect around his and his crews name - Thursdayâs Children - TC for short. Initially, he loved bringing you along to the races, but that quickly changed the moment you caught the attention of the one rival he despises.
Ireh turns to you, exasperation etched across her features as she crosses her arms. âSo, do you want to see your boyfriend or not?â
âHe is not my boyfriend, Ireh,â you retort, huffing the words out for what feels like the millionth time. But she isnât wrong - you are here to see the boy, and though typically you wouldnât risk coming to the tracks and getting caught by Yeonjun, thereâs a reason for the risk tonight.
âOh? So what do you call a guy youâre so hopelessly in love with that youâre willing to betray your brother and sneak behind his back?â she counters with a teasing lilt in her voice. âBecause you wouldnât do that for a casual hookup.â
Thatâs also the kicker of this whole thing; since that day when you bumped into Yeonjunâs rival and the ban was put in place so that you never have to come into contact with himâŚyouâve actually been seeing him almost every day for the past seven months. Your boyfriend who isnât your boyfriend? Thatâs Sim Jaeyun - the leader of The Lucifers, and your brother's arch nemesis.
It makes you recoil every time you think about betraying your brother, especially when someone slaps you over the face with it so blatantly the way your best friend does. Itâs worse because as much as you downplay the relationship, you canât deny that there is something so real between you both. As soon as you met him, you were instantly drawn to him - like a moth to a very dangerous and reckless flame.
To be honest, you vowed to stay away from any and all racers. Each of them is arrogant and too prideful, your brother included, but the more you spoke with Jaeyun, got to know him and all his quirks, you realised quickly that heâs the exception.Â
Jaeyun is ripped straight from the pages of a romance book. At first glance, with his sharp smirk and the swagger that comes with being one of the cityâs top drag racers, he gives off that classic fuckboy vibe - a bit reckless, untouchable, with that unbothered arrogance he uses to get under other crewâs skin. To a lot of people, heâs just the arrogant leader of The Lucifers, quick to brush off his competition like theyâre nothing.Â
But thatâs only half of who he is.
When itâs just the two of you, you get to see a side of Jaeyun that he guards closely - trusting you with something he doesnât share with the world. Heâs patient and tender, his words soft and careful, and itâs almost startling how different he can be. Heâs not performing or putting up walls; heâs just there with you, completely and wholly, in a way thatâs so real it takes your heart a minute to stop making more space for him. If you were to say this to anyone else that knew him, or of him, they would laugh in your face - and Jaeyun would deny it in a heartbeat.
It wouldnât be fair to say he hides his ârealâ self from others because being the racer everyone perceives is also part of him. The intensity he brings to the track is genuine - itâs a part of his soul, heâs clearly passionate about it, loving the thrill and heat that comes from burning some rubber and shouting a big fuck you to his opponent. But with you, Jaeyun allows himself to be something more. He only shows the loverboy side of him in your company, being with you gives him a moment to embrace a side of himself that he sometimes forgets about.
Of course, heâs still cocky and boastful - heâs allowed to be; heâs really fucking good - itâs the main reason why he and Yeonjun are rivals in the first place. While TC rules the North and East of the city, The Lucifers hold ownership of the South and West, but both of them want to be on top - the best in the city, not just their turfs.
In Yeonjunâs eyes, the only one who could be deemed better than him is Jaeyun, and thatâs a bitter pill to swallow. So he wonât swallow it, heâll use it as motivation instead, to beat Jaeyun in ever way possible.
Shifting your focus back to Ireh and ridding your mind of the thoughts of the leaders, you shake your head and let out the fakest laugh you think youâve ever heard spit from your mouth. âIn love with him? I am not in love with him. Weâre just, seeing one another, casual, yâknow?â
Ireh holds that knowing stare on you as you stand there, your mind battling with itself like it usually does in moments like these, justification and excuses bubbling up. âListen, you can keep him as your ânot boyfriendâ all you want,â she adds with a smirk, âbut you know that label isnât hiding your feelings. Itâs written all over your face -Â even now.â
Youâre an open book, what your mouth doesnât say, your face certainly will and youâre more than sure itâs telling the story of your heart that you refuse to admit. For both your sake and Jaeyunâs.
âWhatever, letâs just go find him.â Rolling your eyes, you take her arm and lead her further into the pit of people.
Itâs heaving with racers, pit lizards, and those just looking to have a good time and smell the fumes. The floodlights guide you to the edge of the track while you thread your and Ireh's way through the crowd, moving closer to the edge, where you get a clear view of the grit track. Out of all the places Yeonjun and Jaeyun race, this track has a special place in your heart. Thereâs nothing too fancy about it, but it does have one element that outdoes all the rest; Devilâs Corner.
Devilâs Corner is infamous, a steep turn that has racers pushing their cars to the limit. They either conquer the bend or be conquered by it. Itâs a sharp, merciless curve that rises slightly before plunging down at a nearly impossible angle, leading straight into a narrow stretch and to the finish line. So many have tried to beat it or show off on it - youâve seen more than one car flip or crumpling like a smooshed tin can.Â
Luckily, both your brother and Jaeyun know exactly how to handle it, masters of their art being proven each time. You never have to worry about them too much when it comes to this track, theyâre usually way ahead of whatever chump tries to race them, but a little flutter of anxiety will always be there.
You squint against the harsh glare of headlights, raising a hand to shield your eyes as you scan the crowd. Among the bustle, you spot Heeseung and Jongseong leaning casually against a car with the devil printed crudely onto it, looking entirely at ease in the chaotic scene. Theyâre two of Jaeyunâs closest friends and crewmates, so wherever they are, heâs usually not far behind.
Heeseung is the first to notice you, nudging Jongseong with a mischievous glint in his eye as he shoots you a welcoming look. The two of them are more than just members of The Lucifers - theyâre practically family to Jaeyun, and in turn that makes them your number one hype men and the only others to know about your secret fling.
Squeezing her arm, you guide Ireh across the track and into red territory, smiling brightly and suddenly forgetting about the possibility of Yeonjun spotting you.Â
âHi, boys!â you greet them warmly, letting go of your friend to hug them tightly. âHow are you feeling?â Both of them have races tonight, though you could never tell with how nonchalant they both look. Going against TC always has higher stakes, but they donât seem fussed.
Jongseong pats your head and smirks. âWeâre chill, itâs only Gyu and Soobin, hardly competition.â
âWe are shocked to see you though, doesnât little Junnie usually keep you in a cage when it comes to TC Lucifer races?â Heeseung nips in.
âWell, I had to come and-â
âSupport the number one racer on his birthday,â a fading Australian accent interrupts your sentence, his hands gripping your hips and instinctively pulling you back into him, your ass pressing against one of your favourite parts of him.Â
Jaeyunâs touch is intoxicating, a magnetic pull that has you leaning back into him without a second thought, any anxiety about Yeonjunâs lurking eyes now vanished. His hands drift up and down your waist, lingering over the curves he knows so well, savouring the feel of the skintight dress youâve slipped into just for him. You can feel his gaze, possessive, admiring, and utterly absorbed into you as his fingers press against the sheer fabric at your sides, the warmth of his skin teasing yours through the thin material. He loves it when you dress up for him because he knows itâs only for him, not one of these other fuckers at the grit track gets to touch you the way he does, gets to see you the way he does.Â
Instinctively, he dips his head, his lips grazing your shoulder, trailing upwards in a slow, lazy path that sends a pulse straight to your core. His mouth follows the line of your neck, leaving a trail of heat that makes you feel like the two of you are alone in the world, past all of the noise and chaos around you. When he reaches your ear, he nibbles down and whispers, âHi, Princess.â Itâs a greeting as much as a claim, youâre his princess.
Youâre aware, somewhere in the back of your mind, that this is probably the most reckless thing you could do. Yeonjun could be here any second, his protective instincts would be kicking in if he caught even a speckle of Jaeyunâs hands on you. And yet, the thrill of it only makes you want to sink deeper into Jaeyunâs touch. He holds you firmly, his grip the only thing holding you up right now.
However, you need to let go, scared of the repercussions. Itâs bad enough youâre even on this side of the track, let alone in the arms of The Luciferâs leader. So you spin around, gathering your bones and standing upright, although they almost turn to jelly again as soon as you see him.
His hair is bouncy, parted down the middle with two strands falling effortlessly on his face, pointing straight to that perfect nose that youâve had the pleasure of riding one or ten times. His lips are curled up in a small smile, so subtle only you can see before it turns into a full-blown smirk, his kissable lips so inviting as he bites into his bottom one. You love his mouth, everything about it; how it looks, the way it tastes, itâs magical skills when itâs in between your legs, all of it.
âHappy birthday,â you murmur, smiling so fondly at him that you know Ireh is going to have something to say about it later.
âThanks. What did my girl get me?â he asks, leaning forward and ghosting his lips over yours, his bottom lip begging to be bitten and sucked on. Every time he calls you his girl, you swear you almost get down on your knees and begin to worship him.Â
Maybe youâre starting to see what Ireh and his friends mean about your non-existent label and what it should be.
You resist the urge to just devour him in a kiss as you speak. âI canât show you it right now, not here,â you tease, poking your tongue out to wet your lips.
âYeah? What if I ditch this race and we go somewhere that you can show me?â His voice is low and inviting, every word dripping with promise. Jaeyun leans down, his lips hovering just inches from yours, his eyes gleaming playfully. His hands roam up your back, his fingers pressing just hard enough to make you shudder, his nails grazing your skin ever so slightly - a subtle incentive to consider his tempting suggestion.
Before you can even nod, though, Jongseong clears his throat pointedly, a slight smirk tugging at his mouth. âActually, mate, you really canât skip this one,â he says in a language you canât understand, his tone heavy with meaning meant solely for Jaeyun.
Jaeyunâs grip loosens slightly as he pulls back, and you seize the moment to break from his hypnotic gaze, turning to face Jongseong with a raised eyebrow. âWhatâs so special about this race?â you ask, voice laced with curiosity. âWhatâs at stake this time, a car?â
High-stakes wagers are nothing new. Racers love to have some form of motivation and itâs not unusual for bets to involve money, cars, or something like territorial rights over parts of the city. And while you donât know exactly whatâs in play, the tension between Jongseong and Jaeyun suggests this isnât just any race.
âNot a car,â Jaeyun begins removing his hands from your waist, and just in time too, because over the racer's shoulder, you see someone walking over with raw fury and intensity over their features.
âWhat the fuck are you doing here, Y/N?â Yeonjun spits as he approaches, his aura red. The last time you saw him this angry was when you accidentally mistook his MSCHF boots as funky vases and put the tulips that Jaeyun had got you inside them. Of course, he didnât know they were from his rival, but you did just ruin his ÂŁ300 shoes.Â
Truthfully, they looked better as a vase.
Jaeyunâs hand still rests on your waist, firm and possessive, but you reluctantly take a step back, putting as much space as possible between you. You will yourself to look unfazed and relaxed, praying Yeonjun hadnât seen Jaeyun practically dry-humping you just moments before.
Thinking on her feet, Ireh steps in, tossing a casual arm over Jongseongâs shoulder with a bright smile. âActually, itâs my fault, Yeonjun,â she chirps, doing her best to sound apologetic yet unbothered. âI wanted to see Jongseong race, and I dragged Y/N along for moral support.â Her voice drops, filled with mock affection. âWeâre dating.â
Everyone looks confused except Ireh, who is putting all those years bluffing to her parents about her whereabouts in the middle of the night to the ultimate test. They are easily fooled, but Yeonjun is not.
Glancing down at his âgirlfriendâ, Jongseong wears a look of uncertainty but alsoâŚhappiness? You always suspected his crush on your best friend, this just confirms it. Like breathing, he slips into the role, slipping his arm around her waist and kissing her temple lovingly - heâs clearly taking this as an opportunity to be close to her.
Yeonjunâs lip curls as he looks Jongseong up and down with a mixture of disgust and disbelief. âSlim pickings around here, I guess. I didnât think youâd settle for a shit stain on the sidewalk.â
Jongseongâs easygoing expression hardens as he holds Ireh close, offended and possessive. âWatch your fucking mouth,â he growls, his tone a warning.
Amidst the brewing tension, Jaeyunâs hand sneaks to find home on your ass, his grip firm and reassuring. Heâs careful though, keeping his touch just out of Yeonjunâs line of sight, but you can tell he also doesnât care, not really. He would fight your brother in an instant if it wasnât for you asking him to keep it in check. No one ever tells Jaeyun what to do - not the authorities, not family, no one - but heâll make the exception for you.
âGet off our side, Yeonjun,â Jaeyun finally interjects and pausing the bickering, his voice low and steady, clearly unbothered by the confrontation brewing. He removes his hand from you and he regrets it almost the moment it happens, wishing he could glue himself to you and always feel your warmth.
âNot until I get my sister back,â Yeonjun retorts, the words hang thickly in the air as the rest of The Lucifers gather around.Â
Even the mere suggestion of you being taken away stirs something in Jaeyun, a slight tightening of his jaw, a flicker of protectiveness in his eyes. Now that he has you by his side, on his side both physically and literally, he doesnât like you too far away.
But Jaeyunâs lips twitch into a mocking smile as he crosses his arms and hides his true feelings, eyes never leaving Yeonjunâs. âTake her back then,â he scoffs, tilting his head with an air of nonchalance that only stokes the fire. He turns to you, smirking and hiding that beautiful boy you know behind the arrogance of himself. âIf thatâs what she wants.â
The ball is in your court and you hate when people do this to you - making you choose - and this is the worst choice of all. Jaeyun is giving you the opening to stand up for yourself, something heâs been slowly but surely trying to help you do throughout the seven months of seeing him, but itâs so much harder than he realises.Â
Betraying Yeonjun feels like tearing a piece of your soul away. The thought of hurting him, of driving a wedge between you twists in your gut. Itâs not easy to reconcile the love you have for your brother with the undeniable connection you share with Jaeyun.
As the silence stretches, you take a deep breath, your heart racing. You glance at Jaeyun with sorrowful eyes, knowing youâre disappointing him with what youâre about to do. You take a step forward and stand by Yeonjun, looking down shamefully. You donât dare look at the hurt in Jaeyunâs eyes.
And itâs there, only for you to see. He had truly hoped that this would say a big âfuck youâ and rid yourself of the shackles of Yeonjunâs overbearing brotherly role and claim the independence heâs been encouraging you to reach for.Â
In all honesty, he has been respecting your wishes and heâs content with that, but he hates to see you battling with it so damagingly. Your anxiety gets the better of you sometimes, your brain whispering insults and what ifs while Jaeyunâs lips are on yours,l. Itâs gotren so bad in fact that half of your secret meetups have consisted of you sitting in his lap while he strokes your back, whispering petal soft reassurances to calm you down from turmoil.Â
Not exactly a five star date.
In some way, he wonders if the weight of it all is pressing harder now because youâre both crossing into a deeper territory of emotions that you canât step back from.
âIreh, donât you dare bring Y/N back here again,â he warns your best friend, stepping in front of you, his way of protecting you but really heâs just locking you in the cage that he built. You can feel the heat of anger surrounding him and you feel ashamed. Not only are you in trouble but now your best friend is getting the blame for it. All because you canât tell Yeonjun the truth.
Jaeyun pokes his tongue in his cheek and laughs, shaking his head in disbelief. He doesnât say anything, but thatâs enough to make Yeonjun tense once again, narrowing his eyes.
âYou want to say something else?â your brother grits out, hoping that Jaeyun will bite his bait.Â
Yet, Jaeyun simply raises his hands in a gesture of mock surrender, a playful smile on his face. âNah, mate. Iâll save all my talking for out on the track, yeah?â The tone of his words is light but thereâs an underlying tension simmering as he stops himself from saying what he really thinks.Â
What he really wants to say is how fucking ridiculous it is to watch Yeonjun try to control not just your life but also those who have no obligation to bow to him. Itâs clearly a trait of his - one he canât get on board with.
However, the phrase âsave all my talking for out on the trackâ strikes you as oddly significant. You then suddenly remember Jongseongâs earlier cryptic warnings to Jaeyun about how he should stick around for the race and it all clicks into place.Â
Your eyes widen as you search Jaeyunâs expression for confirmation, but he remains locked onto Yeonjunâs fierce glare, the two of them engaged in a silent battle of wills.
Pulling at Yeonjunâs wrist, you draw his attention back to you, though his gaze never wavers from Jaeyun. âYouâre racing each other tonight? Why?â you ask, concern creeping into your voice.
Of course, itâs not uncommon for leaders of rival crews to face off in races; it happens all the time. But the stakes feel particularly high tonight, and a knot of worry forms in your stomach. They havenât battled it out since that night you met Jaeyun and that almost ended with Yeonjun crashing and Jaeyun turning upside down.Â
They have no limits when it comes to racing one another, and at the grit track, that can only mean bad things.
âBecause Jaeyun here decided he wants this track to himself,â Yeonjun explains half-heartedly.Â
The grit track is TC territory, placed technically within the east side of the city, but its location on the very edge of the west makes it up for grabs - if they can win it. For years, The Lucifers have wanted this spot, the leaders well before Jaeyun took charge could never do it. TC leaders make sure this is the one track theyâre masters at, no one is ever able to beat them on it.
Jaeyunâs smirk widens, and he steps closer, closing the space between them. âThe track belongs to whoever can handle it, not whoever sticks their name on it and hopes everyone just plays nice.â
âIâve been handling it, in case you couldnât see that,â he chides back, not appreciating the jab. âYour old leader Mingi couldnât handle it against me, thatâs the reason you became leader, right?â
Yeonjunâs smirk is cold, knowing that mentioning the former leader will get the reaction he wants from Jaeyun - and it does. Jaeyunâs easy smirk falters for a split second, his eyes darkening with a flash of barely concealed rage. Mentioning Mingi was a low blow, they both know it.Â
Mingi is Jaeyunâs best friend and the night he tried to stake claim on TC turf, he ended up crashing the car, paralysing his body from the waist down. In truth, itâs the only reason Jaeyun is standing in the position he is right now, and he hates that fact.
He always admired Mingi as a leader.
Jaeyunâs voice drops, dangerously calm. âSay his name again,â he warns as the muscles in his jaw tighten. âBut make sure you remember that if he hadnât crashed because of your pathetic excuse of a trick, he would have this track, easy.â
Yeonjunâs smug grin only widens, feeding off the frustration simmering in his rival. âIs that right? Funny, because as far as I remember, it wasnât foul play, he just couldnât handle Devilâs Corner, and we all know what happened after that. Or maybe youâd like a reminder?â
The tension is suffocating, an invisible line drawn in the dirt between them, and everyone around senses that one wrong word could send it spiralling out of control. Jaeyun takes a step closer, closing the gap so that theyâre nearly nose-to-nose. âYou better watch your fucking mouth, you know what you did.â
You donât know much about that night, neither of the men in your life wishing to utter a word about it, but all youâve gathered from the rumours is that there are two sides to believe; one in which Mingi was simply reckless on the corner, a freak accident due to his negligence, the other? Yeonjun and his crew planted a spike trail on the road that caused him to flip over and roll down the hill.Â
The rumours were never settled because the car took such a tumble that it eventually got engulfed in flames, the tyres melting and any evidence gone. Itâs one of the biggest mysteries amongst the crews and only TC will truly know the truth, not that they would ever admit it.
Do you think your brother could do such a thing? Not in a million years, but you also know his competitive streak can cloud his judgment. Either way, youâre nervous about his and Jaeyunâs safety tonight.
Yeonjunâs expression hardens, dropping all pretences of mockery. âProve it. I did fuck all, your pathetic excuse for a leader was just a shit driver that couldnât handle the heat.â
The words are enough to push Jaeyun to the edge. His fists clench at his sides, but before he can lurch forward and connect his knuckles with your brotherâs face, Heeseung pulls him back with a firm grip on his shoulder, speaking low and steady. âItâs not worth it, Jae. He wants you to lose it.â
âAnd I fucking will, the prick deserves it,â you hear him argue with his friend. Itâs moments like these you wish you could just walk over to him and settle his nerves. Not in the Joey King in Kissing Booth way with the cliche âlook at me, look at meâ vibes, but let him know that youâre there for him, that this urge to win and prove something might end up even more disastrous than Mingiâs fate.
While Heeseung and Jongseong tend to Jaeyunâs flaring temper, Yeonjun shifts his focus to you, his rebellious sister. âSeriously, Y/N, I told you to stay the fuck away from these races,â he has venom in his voice but thatâs still lingering from the spout with Jaeyun. Towards you, there is affection and concern, his usual feelings towards you.
âI justâŚIreh wanted me to come,â you lie, using the dark night and shadows from the floodlights to mask your growing nose.Â
âOkay, fine. You still should have said no,â he rebuts, suddenly giving you a quick glance over, âAnd why are you dressed like that? You never dress like a track hopper.âÂ
Itâs a little insulting, considering what you wear is none of his business, and that you actually do feel good in it.
You square your shoulders, meeting Yeonjunâs scrutinising gaze. âI wanted to dress up for once, alright? Is that such a crime?â you snap, your voice sharper than you initially intended. But something about his tone, so quick to judge, grates on you.
Yeonjunâs eyes soften just a fraction, and he sighs, running a hand through his hair. âLook, Y/N,â he begins, his tone shifting to something gentler. âI donât mean to give you a hard time. I just donât want you getting dragged into this, especially tonight.â His eyes flick to the track, the pits where engines roar to life, and the crowd of people buzzing with dangerous energy as they wait for the next race. âYouâre above all of this.â
A small pang of guilt tugs at you, but you hold your ground. âIâm not here to cause trouble, Yeonjun. Let me just stay to support you,â you lie again, stomach twisting as the truth sits, heavy and hidden.
Yeonjun narrows his eyes, not fully convinced but willing to let it go - for now. âAlright, but stay out of the pit. And if anything happens, you leave, got it?â
âGot it. Iâll keep my distance.â
Satisfied, he gives a brief nod, but as he turns back towards his car, guiding you over to the right side of the track, where you belong. You look back as you watch Jaeyun eye you up, saddened at your sudden removal, but expecting it nonetheless.
You guess youâll just need to see him once this is all over, and both of them finish this race safely.
You hope.
_____
The sound of engines revving fills the night air as you stand on the edge of the track, patiently awaiting Jaeyun and Yeonjunâs arrival. Your nerves are unsettled and your mind is very much being represented like that one scene in Spongebob where he forgets his name and the little sponges in his brain scramble for the answer.
Itâs been a long time since you felt this tense, you thought coming here and hiding would be the thrill of your night, turns out that was the most mundane - and unsuccessful part.
The crowd is bigger now, all revved up - no pun intended - for the race. The stakes are high, like really high and you canât imagine what the outcome could possibly be.Â
A thrill courses through the crowd, the anticipation tangible as Jaeyunâs car pulls up on the east side of the track - your side. While most of the TCs around you murmur, assuming heâs just trying to throw Yeonjun off, they couldnât be further from the truth. Jaeyunâs tactic isnât about intimidation; he just wants a final glance at you before the race begins, to see you in that dress that Yeonjun hates oh so much, and use it as motivation. He doesnât want to show off per say, but if youâre impressed, itâs a bonus.
The intensity in his eyes across the crowd is unmistakable, and when he whistles, a slight, beckoning tilt of his head makes it clear heâs calling you over.
You look around to see if anyone noticed, and once youâre convinced they havenât, you check your brother. Sure enough, heâs deep in conversation with his crew, oblivious as he checks his carâs setup.Â
Is it stupid to go over and risk getting caught? Of course. But Jaeyun has a persuasive smile and dreamy eyes to match. So the next thing you know, you take a deep breath, slipping through the sea of people, and make your way towards Jaeyunâs car. His smirk widens as you reach him, his hand already extended to brush your arm.
But you swat it away, half playfully, half serious. âWhat are you doing?â
âWhat?â he asks, eyes glinting with amusement. âCanât a guy get a good luck kiss from his girl?â
âJaeyun, are you fucking crazy? Look whoâs right next to you!â you hiss, gesturing towards Yeonjun, whoâs still unaware, thankfully. You really appreciate his attention to detail in these moments.
âPrincess, youâve been sneaking around and bouncing on my cock for seven months now. If he hasnât caught on by now, I doubt heâs going to. He probably doesnât even care.â He says it so easily, like all of this has just been in your mind and not a real threat.
âYeah? Tell that to the way he glared you down not two hours ago. Or did you miss the part where he wanted to tear you to pieces for even breathing next to me?â
Jaeyun barely flinches at the mention, a hint of a pout replacing his smirk. âCome on, itâs my birthday. Donât you think I deserve at least one little kiss?â
âDidnât you already use the birthday excuse to get me here?â you counter, eyeing him with a playful twinkle.
âThatâs for attendance,â he teases, leaning closer to you, practically hanging out the window just for a taste of you. âKisses are part of the package.â
Unable to resist the temptation in his eyes, you check over your shoulder one last time before leaning in, brushing your lips against his in what should be a quick peck for luck, but he turns into so much more.Â
Jaeyunâs hand slides up to cradle your cheek, his touch warm and possessive. His thumb brushes softly over your skin as he deepens the kiss, ignoring the chaos, this stolen moment is the only thing that matters. His fingertips, rough from years of racing, contrast with the gentle way he holds you, drawing you further into him.
His tongue sweeps over your lips and you canât help but groan and grant him access to your mouth, praying to the gods to get a taste of him. Youâre greedy for him, ravenous almost, and he mirrors your need. If he wasnât in front of at least one hundred people, including your brother, he would be dragging your pretty ass into this car and watching your tits clap in his face.
But then, like a bucket of cold water, reality hits as Jungwon steps between the two cars, flag poised for the start. You pull away reluctantly and savour the last few pecks Jaeyun plants on your puffy, lipgloss-smudged lips.Â
Yeonjun snaps to attention suddenly aware of your appearnce and his voice cuts sharply through the revving engines. âY/N! What the fuck are you doing?â he shouts, his tone edged with disbelief and frustration. âI told you to stay off the pit!â
You jump, instinctively retreating from Jaeyunâs side as you stammer out a response, just thankful that he didnât seem to notice how seconds prior you were getting your tonsils tangled with Jaeyun. âI was justâŚI was wishing you good luck!â You walk quickly, rounding Jaeyunâs car, trying to ignore the lingering sensation of the kiss. But Yeonjunâs face is a mask of exasperation as you approach his window.
âY/N, get back!â he orders, eyes widening as he glances at Jungwon, whoâs counting down without a care in the world.
Only then do you realise youâre directly between the two cars, and neither Jaeyun nor Yeonjun seems willing to delay the race.
âThree!â Jungwonâs deep voice booms, the crowd roaring as the tension builds.
Your feet feel glued to the ground, panic swelling in your chest. You know that chances of you getting hurt are slim, but youâve never been this close to the race, so close that you can feel the heat from their motors swirling your leg like those snakes on Lucy Grey.
âTwo!â
Jungwon raises the flag, ready to unleash it. The cars tremble with power, the engines growling, but your brainâs too scrambled to make a move. Jaeyun sees your tense frame and panics for you, scared of even a scratch on you.
âOne!â
Suddenly, you feel a jolt - a car door bumps against the back of your legs, and before you know it, strong hands grab your waist, pulling you backwards in a quick, fluid motion. You land on something soft, but before you even realise whatâs happened, Jaeyunâs arm reaches across to steady you in the passenger seat of his car.
âGo!â
With a salute to Yeonjun thatâs equal parts taunt and triumph, Jaeyun hits the gas, and the world blurs as he speeds off, leaving your brother gaping in stunned disbelief behind you.
The wind whips through the open passenger door as you scramble to sit upright, barely processing what just happened. You feel like youâre suddenly on a rollercoaster, the car's oomph causing you to stick to the seat like the Sticky Wall.
âCan you shut that, Princess? Youâre letting a draft in,â he smirks, too pleased with himself.
But all you can do is stare back, aghast. âWhat the fuck, Jae?! This is not funny.â
âItâs not, you could have got fucking hurt,â he tries to play it off as a joke but you hear the seriousness in his tone. When you look at him, you also see the slight fear in his eyes.
Jaeyun knows it was stupid to drag you into his car, but he panicked, what else could he do? All the possibilities swam across his mind like a reckless current. You could have gotten scratched up by the grit, swooped under the tyres with the sheer power of the accelerationâŚor worse.
Not all of these scenarios make sense, but the fear of losing you makes him think even the impossible. So if he can save you even from probabilities, then he will.
You reach over and such the door, the wind making it difficult as he rounds a corner. Once it clicks into place, you relax a little, breathing out. It happened in such a blur that you canât even figure out where on the track you are. All you know is that Jaeyun is first, and youâre stuck in this race whether you like it or not.
Without taking his eyes off the road or his foot off the accelerator, he reaches over you and grabs the seatbelt, fiddling with it awkwardly to secure you in. You hate to say that youâre looking at the veins on his hands as he unravels it, but you are. You could be helping him and saving him the struggle but itâs just too fucking delicious to look at.
That distraction is the only thing stopping your heart from leaping out of your throat.
âDid you really think dragging me into your car, going a million miles per hour and having to survive the grit track safer than me standing on the starting line?â you question him, disbelief and mockery in your tone.
Jaeyun furrows his brows and lets your words sink in. âWellâŚwhen you put it that way, itâs dumb,â he agrees, mentally cursing himself. âBut if you think about it, now your brother wonât pull any of his tricks. Not with his precious sister in the car.â
Now that embarrassment for his rash decision is turning into pride. Maybe subconsciously he pulled you into his car as a safety measure, after all, canât be too careful around a bunch of TCs; not when there is so much at stake.
âReally? Iâm a reassurance? What if heâs already planned something and youâve just brought me to my demise?â It hurts you that Jaeyun truly believes your brother is capable of dirty tricks, but then again, you donât have one hundred percent faith that he wouldnât pull something.
Jaeyun looks into his rearview mirror and sees Yeonjun hot on his tail, probably filled with enough fury to power his car without an engine. It makes Jaeyun nervous, both your words and Yeonjunâs gaining speed, but he masks it under a laugh.
âAt least we would die together. Whatâs that song? To die by your side-â
âIs such a heavenly way to die, yeah, yeah, itâs one of my favourite songs,â you admit, heart blushing that he even remembered it considering his playlists contain an abundance of Justin Bieber and other generic pop acts - heâs not really one to appreciate the Smiths. âBut I would rather listen to the lyrics than live it out, Jaeyun.â
âI donât see a double-decker bus,â he looks at you for a split second but itâs long enough that you see the teasing glint in his eye that masks his genuine concern, and weirdly, it puts you at ease. He would never let anything happen to you, you know that deep down.
You let out a genuine laugh and whack his arm playfully. âYou know what I mean, Jaeyun.â
âPrincess,â he intertwines his fingers with you, a chuckle escaping his lips, âI promise, okay? You will get out of this car in one piece.â Jaeyun kisses your knuckles and itâs both stomach fluttering and impressive how he can handle a car going 80mph and still have time to dote on you.
The romance doesnât last too long though, because he has to lock in and focus. Behind him, Yeonjunâs car looms closer, headlights glowing like the eyes of a predator. Heâs tailing Jaeyun so closely that any error, even a slight miscalculation, could end it all in a brutal collision. Jaeyun glances at his rearview mirror, catching a glimpse of Yeonjunâs face, fierce and determined.
He figured your brother wouldnât be in the best of moods with his act.
âYou think that little gapâs gonna stop him?â you mutter, gripping the seat as Jaeyun expertly rounds another bend, tyres squealing against the trackâs rough surface.
âNot a chance,â Jaeyun replies with a grin. âBut itâll take him a few seconds longer. Enough for me to play with.â
He shifts gears, feeling the engineâs deep growl as he powers down a straight stretch, his speedometer needle pushing higher. Yeonjun matches his pace, but Jaeyun, ever the strategist, swerves slightly, throwing up a cloud of grit in his rivalâs direction. The dust storm is thick enough to obscure Yeonjunâs vision momentarily, forcing him to fall back by a hairâs breadth.
Jaeyun accelerates, barely missing a pile of tyres on his right. Just as he slips past, Yeonjun veers to the inside lane, attempting to pass on Jaeyunâs left. The cornerâs coming up fast - a sharp, unforgiving turn with no forgiveness if they misjudge. Jaeyun catches on immediately, not giving Yeonjun the satisfaction. With a calculated flick of the wheel, he forces Yeonjun to either fall back or risk veering straight into the barrier.
Yeonjun, however, isnât about to let him off easy. He falls back just enough to avoid a crash but quickly cuts to Jaeyunâs other side, inches away, daring him to swerve first. Their cars glide nearly side-by-side, matching each otherâs pace in a tense, furious dance.
Itâs so scary, being in the passenger seat of a car thatâs almost buckling under the pressure of how fast itâs going. Of course, you knew this was not going to be like overtaking someone on the M8, but you sure as fuck didnât expect this. The world is flying by you so fast that you canât begin to comprehend how either of them even drives like this.
Your brotherâs car pulls up beside you both and making eye contact with him is the worst thing in the world you could do.Â
âY/N, what the fuck?!â you lip read, unable to actually hear him over the roar of the engines. He blames you so easily -Â even if it is 60% of your fault because you answered Jaeyunâs beckon - but it still makes you a little mad.Â
Did you want to be dragged into this? Absolutely not. All you wanted was to kiss your pretty non-boyfriend good luck on his birthday, you didnât need all these dramatics with it; you get enough fireworks in your belly from his pretty mouth alone.
The sound of the engine thunders louder, Jaeyun accelerating and pushing his car beyond its threshold as he glides through the race. Itâs all pretty intense - and oddly fun - but itâs not about to be in roughly one minute.Â
âDevilâs Cornerâs up,â you murmur as if Jaeyun even needs the reminder. But he only nods, that familiar smirk dancing on his lips, a spark of something almost wicked in his eyes.
âI know,â he says with a determined grin, shifting gears smoothly as he sets up for the turn. âThis is where your brother wonât risk it. Heâs too careful with the track; itâs got him wrapped around its finger.â
âEveryone is careful around this part of the trackâŚâ you half express as a statement while also hinting that it could be a question, inquiring what Jaeyun could possibly do next.Â
Your trail-off sentence steals his attention and he sees the query in your eyes. He inhales deeply before addressing the elephant in the car youâve somehow given birth to.Â
âPrincess, do you trust me?â
âOf course, itâs the track I donât,â you confess.
âMe either, but I gotta pull all the punches here; for the track, for the LucifiersâŚfor Mingi.â His voice cracks a little as he thinks of his friend, and the damage it caused him.Â
Jaeyun's gaze hardens, fingers gripping the wheel so tightly his knuckles whiten, as though heâs holding not just the car but every ounce of the Lucifierâs pride and promise heâs made as their leader. His mind is as sharply focused on Mingi as it is on the wheel, almost as if his friendâs presence is woven into every inch of the track ahead. Thereâs a weight he feels, a determination to make his best friend proud, to take the track that cost Mingi so much.
"Trusting me means sticking it out," he adds, almost like a dare. âYou ready?â
You swallow, nerves bubbling as you nod, barely managing a steady breath. âJustâŚdonât do anything stupid, okay?â But even as you say it, you know Jaeyunâs already got a strategy, one as risky as it is relentless. He could fucking kill you right now and yet, youâre ready to put your life in his hands, because you know heâs never going to snap it.
Kind of like your heart.
Ahead, Devilâs Corner yawns open like a waiting trap, and Yeonjun knows it. You can feel the weight of your brotherâs stare from the other car, his eyes sharp with worry and rivalry. Heâs fought this corner countless times and knows that going at it full throttle will never end well. You catch the fleeting look on Yeonjunâs face - a mixture of fear, anger, and an unspoken warning. Heâs petrified for you, not knowing how far Jaeyun will go to secure the win.
Yet, you couldnât be calmer.
âHold on, yeah?â Jaeyun instructs and you immediately obey, watching as the dial hits itâs peak, his car flying even further in front of Yeonjunâs.
âYou need to slow down, JaeâŚâ you warn.
âHow about you put that trust into action yeah?â he snaps back, though his anger isnât directed at you, heâs just nervously tense. Who wouldnât be in a situation like this? So you donât hold it against him. If anything, it just makes you want to take his hand in yours and offer him some semblance of comfort.Â
But that would be silly right now considering thereâs a death corner with you and his name on it.
As Jaeyun steers into Devilâs Corner, the entire car seems to tighten, every movement rippling through you as though you were an ant, squashed under the tyre. The pressure outside is immense, like a wall of wind trying to shove the car off the road. Inside, itâs nearly as suffocating, the tension compressing everything around you, even your heartbeat syncs with each vibration of the engine.
The curve is sharp - even sharper than youâd realised watching from the stands - and you feel the pull of gravity as Jaeyun doesnât so much follow the turn as he cuts through it, daring the edge. Gravel spits and clinks against the sides of his precious baby.
Yeonjun is somewhere far back, but you canât even think about him or his safety. The only thing consuming your mind is Jaeyunâs grip on the wheel and the creeping dread and exhilaration fighting for space in your lungs.
Squeezing your eyes shut, you convince yourself that itâs less scary to face it if you canât actually see it - using the âif I canât see you, you canât see meâ childlike tactic to feel brave. And in the midst of it all, as the car feels like itâs on the edge of its control, you hear Jaeyunâs voice over the noise - a steadying presence cutting through as he senses your apprehension.
âNearly there, Princess,â he mutters through gritted teeth, his jaw clenched and his heart holding still within his chest. Although heâs fighting the battle of fear and hope inside of him, his voice anchors you just enough to brace yourself.
The car rockets through the tightest part of the bend, wheels practically skating on the track's very edge - the same edge that caused Mingi his loss of legs. You grip onto whatever you can as Jaeyunâs knuckles whiten, his hands firm and controlled on the wheel. The tension in the car mounts like a coiled spring ready to snap, the corner pulling both of you, testing how far it can go before either you or the car breaks under pressure.
At last, you feel the tail end of the car swerve slightly as Jaeyun gives just enough leeway to keep control, and you can sense him gaining ground, just barely escaping the grasp of the turn. Devilâs Corner spits you both out onto the straight stretch and for a heartbeat, thereâs only the muted sound of your breathing, mixing with Jaeyunâs, heavy and relieved.
Finally, you open your eyes to see the road unwinding ahead, straighter, safer, and almost welcoming after the chaos of the corner. Your pulse is still racing, but the danger feels like itâs finally behind you - or so you hope. Jaeyun throws you a quick, side-glance, his usual cocky smirk returned but softer, almost a silent acknowledgement of the risk he just took with you by his side.
He doesnât need to say anything, but as he shifts gears, pressing down harder on the accelerator to widen the gap between him and Yeonjun, his smirk says it all: That was for Mingi, and for you.
Once he sees the finish line in sight, he breathes out and slaps the wheel harshly. âFuck, yeah!â he hollers, a shit-eating grin plastered all over his face, victory secured and only a long stretch away.Â
âHoly fuckâŚâ you breathe out, chest heaving and eyes glued to the road in front of you.
âAnd you doubted me,â he feigns an upset pout and tilts his head in your direction.
âWell, you still have Yeonjun to deal with.â The reminder of your brother fast approaching doesnât rock him, instead, he laughs.
Shaking his head as if Yeonjunâs trailing position is as much of an inconvenience as a bird shitting on his windshield, Jaeyun places a hand on your thigh and squeezes. âHeâs still there because I let him be there. Canât humiliate the guy completely yâknow? Heâll be my family in the future.âÂ
Your mouth opens as you process his words, unsure if he even realises what he just said. Itâs a pass-away promise of commitment, and considering you arenât even officially dating, you would say itâs thrown you off of Everest and has your mind tumbling down after your body.
Itâs probably best to bring it up later though, you donât want to throw him off, especially considering heâs still going 50mph.
He smirks and revs the engine once more, pushing the car just shy of its limits. âWhy so worried? Iâve got a perfect record of keeping you safe, donât I?â He raises an eyebrow at you, his voice laced with that familiar teasing tone.
âOh, you mean the âperfectâ record that almost just got me toppling over into the ditches of Devilâs Corner?â You roll your eyes, but a smile creeps onto your face.
âYouâre alive, arenât you?â he grins, then he pulls his attention fully to the finish line up ahead. Itâs close enough now that the crowd is visible, and he salutes them with a quick flick of his hand.Â
God, heâs so hot when heâs like this. How lazily arrogant his entire racing persona is. You adore his softer side, of course you do, but this side of him gets your own motor running.
Yeonjun, however, isnât ready to concede. He surges forward, lining up beside you both in a final, determined push, his car engine roaring with a fury that sends chills down your spine. You see him shoot a glare, not just at Jaeyun, but at you as well. But Jaeyun merely returns the look, cool and unbothered, and then, with one final roar of his engine, he edges past the line first, a triumphant laugh escaping his lips.
Jaeyunâs car barrels across the finish line with a triumphant howl from the crowd, cheers blending with the echo of his engine as he cuts through the air, a living victory. The thrill radiates off him; he punches the air, letting out a victorious whoop as his foot remains steady on the accelerator. He finally glances over at you, his face alive with pure elation, his cocky grin fully in place. But instead of slowing down, he maintains his speed, the wind whipping through the car as you look back at the receding crowd.
"Wait - where are we going?" you ask confused, looking back as you pass by everyone and leaving them in the wake of victory.
Jaeyun flicks his gaze over, eyes dark with both mischief and longing. âI donât know if youâve forgotten, Y/N, but you still owe me my birthday present,â he says hick and low, each word like a steady drumbeat against your pulse.
You raise an eyebrow, trying to keep your own voice steady. âDonât you want to celebrate with everyone? You just won the Lucifers the grit track and Devilâs Corner.â
He lets out a laugh, deep and incredulous. âCelebrate with everyone else? Princess, Iâd be out of my mind to spend one more second without seeing what you have for me. I would be fucking insane, actually.â He eyes you hungrily, already imagining all the possibilities under your dress or up your sleeve. His tongue brushes his bottom lip in a glazing swoop, a promise lingering in his gaze that leaves your cheeks feeling warmer than they should.
He shifts gears, and you glance back to see the track and the crowd becoming distant figures in the rearview mirror, your brother among them. âBesides,â Jaeyun adds, leaning closer as he cuts through the night, âDo you really wanna see Yeonjun right now?â
â...No.â
âGood, then trust me.â
_____
The car halts, tyres crunching over gravel as you take in the scene before you. Below the dark sky, the city sprawls out like a tacky but beautiful Christmas night with glittering lights, each window and streetlamp reminiscent of a fairy light. Below, the river carves an almost silver line through it all, shimmering under the moonlight. Itâs too beautiful for you to describe and give it the credit it deserves.
Jaeyun doesnât speak at first. His hand finds yours, fingers slipping through as he releases a slow, steady breath. He wasnât aware how badly his muscles were suffocating his bones until now. His thumb brushes over your knuckles, an absent yet soothing gesture, and he finally lets himself relax, the hard lines of his jaw softening as he looks at you. The moonlight catches his features, highlighting the relief etched on his face - a look so different from the racer who stared down Devilâs Corner only 20 minutes ago.
For a moment, you both just sit there, silently letting the thrill of the night settle. You turn to him, sensing his guard finally lowered, his eyes holding something warmer, deeper than his usual confident smirk.
âItâs so pretty here,â you murmur softly, nodding towards the city.
âYeah,â he murmurs, bringing your lips to his hand and kissing your knuckles softly, the tingle from the spark shooting all over your body. âIâd say the view is pretty fucking perfect.â
A blush creeps on your face, his eyes glued onto you as he mumbles the words into your skin, each syllable fluttering to your heart. Of course, he means you. He has seen this exact city view a million times, often coming up here after races to cool off and regather himself.Â
Itâs the first place he drove to once he heard about Mingi.
Itâs the first place he drove to once he met you.
Itâs the first time heâs shown someone this spot.
Letting go of your hand, he quickly offers you a small smile before undoing his seatbelt. âCâmon, let's get a closer look.â
With that, you follow him and you both settle against the hood of the car, your shoulders brushing as you take in the sprawling lights below, wrapped in the quiet of the moment. The city glows, pulsing like a heartbeat, life so obvious yet subtle. You tilt your head toward him and nudge him softly.
âSo,â you say, half-smiling, âhow does it feel?â
âWhat?âÂ
âWinning the grit track.â
He shrugs, and his gaze becomes distant, falling somewhere into the night. The silence stretches on, but itâs comfortable, the cityâs buzz helping to fill the contemplative silence between words.Â
âI donât care,â he murmurs, surprising you into a pause.
âWhat do you mean?â you ask, caught off guard. After all, this entire night was about winning the territory, claiming a stake over it and expanding the Lucifersâ ground. It sounds like a shitty action movie on Tubi now that you think about it, but that really is what the crews strive for. So for Jaeyun to say he doesnât care, when he did what his past leaders couldnât, throws you for a new one.
âThe trackâŚhe can keep it,â Jaeyun says with a dismissive wave, almost as if heâs letting go of a heavy burden. âIt was never about winning a stupid bit of dirt road.â He pauses, biting his lip as he searches for the right words. âI wanted to prove that TC had something to do in Mingiâs accident.â
The words leave his mouth in a rush, and you feel the weight of his pain and loyalty colliding in that confession. Jaeyunâs gaze stays trained on the city, brow furrowed, his jaw set, the ease on his bones only lasting the skip of a jump rope.Â
He truly believes that Yeonjun was involved - that he orchestrated some plan to knock Mingi out. Youâve seen Jaeyunâs loyalty; you know Mingi is more than a friend to him, practically family, and Jaeyunâs heart has no room to consider the idea that Mingi couldâve justâŚlost control.
You scoot closer, placing a gentle hand on his arm, sensing how vulnerable this confession has left him. âLook, Jaeyun,â you start, hesitating. âI donât believe my brother would do something like that. But just because you made it through Devilâs Corner safely this time doesnât rule out anything, yeah? Thereâs still a chance he had nothing to do with itâŚbut maybe he did.â
He looks at you, contemplation written in the lines around his eyes, but doubt remains.
âI just canât accept that it was some accident, you know?â he finally says, his voice tight with frustration. âMingi was solid. The guy could practically drive in his sleep, and suddenly he spins out there?â His shoulders tense as he talks, each word laced with an anger born of grief and unresolved questions. He wants answers, and you sense how deeply heâs embedded in this conviction.
âOkay, so what ifâŚâ You hesitate, not truly believing the words coming out of your mouth right now, but knowing Jaeyun needs something to hold onto his faith in Mingi. âWhat if Yeonjun did have something to do with Mingiâs accident? He could have been planning it tonight but called it off because I was in the car with you?âÂ
Biting the inside of his cheek, Jaeyun lets out a harsh laugh, but itâs not at you. âThen I could have got you fucking hurt, and what kind of man does that make me?â
Itâs as if any reasoning or justification for his actions has suddenly all surged to his mouth and left a bitter taste, one that he finds hard to coat over with some mints. In his mind, he convinced himself for the moment that he was saving you, but in actuality, maybe he was just protecting himself.Â
He could have lost you.
That though makes him stand up and walk closer to the cliff edge, not enough to cause you alarm, but enough that indicates heâs in the need of feeling free from his mind.
And thatâs something you can definitely help with.
Pushing yourself off the car, you reach out to him, lacing your arms around his waist as you hug him tightly from behind. Instantly, he cups your linked hands in his and melts into you, closing his eyes in relief as you kiss his back ever so gently.
âWe canât know what happened that night, Jaeyun, no one ever will. But itâs also not your battle.â
âBut I-â
âNo. End of story.â You twist him around to face you, your hands dipping your hands into his back pockets. âMingi and Yeonjun raced that night, the outcome was what it was, and we have to move on. The longer we sit in the past, in this mindset of what if and what could have been, you prolong everyoneâs pain, especially yours. And I wonât sit back and watch you do it.â
Itâs tough, and you wish you could have laid it all out a little more prettily, but a dagger of truth wonât sink into skin if itâs covered in padding and fluff.Â
Jaeyunâs eyes portray a man trying to will himself to argue with you, that fight for his friend still very much alive. Yet, he knows youâre right. He isnât helping himself by wallowing in the past, heâs only hurting himself and creating a deeper hole in his chest, one that is consuming him alive.
But no one has told him to get the fuck over it. Not until now.
âI know for a fact that Mingi does not want you dwelling on it, especially not tonight. You won the grit track, Iâd say heâll be over the moon with that, wouldnât you?â
The last nudge is enough to make Jaeyun nod, a small smile creeping on his face. âYeah. I saw him before the race and all he asked was âdonât fucking die and get us that trackâ.â
âSee? You achieved both of those requests, I would say thatâs worth celebrating,â you grin widely up at him, relieved to see his jaw loosen and shoulders unravel themselves. âItâs also your birthdayâŚwhich is another reason to celebrate.â
Jaeyun checks his watch and sucks in a breath, his playful demeanour slowly coming back to the surface, much to your delight. âItâs actually past my birthday now.â
Widening your eyes, you drag his wrist to your face, reading the clock's arms as they disappointingly read 12:04am. The sadness is plastered all over your face, your eyes looking glassy due to both regret and the cold wind nipping them.Â
Jaeyun immediately notices your solemn expression and pouts, holding back a laugh. âPrincess, itâs okay.â
âItâs not. I didnât even get to give you your presents.â You are never one for being late with gifts, in fact, you take birthdays so seriously that gifts are often in your friendâs hands early in the morning. Every birthday is precious to you, well, maybe not your own, but you love to make others feel appreciated and seen on the one day that is reserved for them.Â
The racer looks at his watch again and reaches for the dial, twisting it back as the small arrow rounds anti-clockwise to the 11. Happily, he flashes the watchâs face in front of yours. âLook, now itâs 11:05pm. You have 55 minutes left.â
A laugh bursts out of you, the heartache over the small inconvenience now lifted by his antics. He always knows what to do, what to say, how to lift you up so easily, itâs his superpower.Â
âOkay, which one do you want first?â you step back and place your hand on your hips, exhaling the drama from tonight out of your system. No more racing, no more brother, no more bad thoughts. Just you and Jaeyun celebrating the final hour of his birthday.
âThereâs more than one?â he asks in a smug tone.Â
âThere are three in total. One is your main present and two are tiny little things,â you explain.
Nodding, Jaeyun feigns ponder as he taps his chin. âWell, I think I should save my main for last, so letâs start with the âtiny little thingsââ he repeats back to you, knowing that they wonât in fact be tiny, their significance probably vastly bigger than any other gift he has ever received throughout his previous 21 birthdays.
Holding up a finger, you tell him to wait before you open the right backseat door of his car and retrieve two carefully wrapped gifts. You put in far too much effort in folding each corner perfectly and twirling every bow to sit neatly, but looking at your work now, you can safely say it was all worth it.
Confusion crosses Jaeyunâs pretty face as he points to his car. âWhen did you sneak into my car and put them in there?â he asks with piqued confusion. He would notice bright yellow wrapping paper with orange ribbons in a minute, the colours bouncing so brightly off his black interior.
âI didnât,â you shrug as you confess, holding out the two gifts. âI shoved them both under my seat when you paid for the gas yesterday.â
âYour seat, huh?â he repeats with a lace of amusement, taking the top box from your grasp.
âWell, do you drive other women about?â
âDonât ask fucking ridiculous questions. Youâre the only girl.âÂ
You curse your stomach for flipping out like itâs on an Alton Towers ride, the statement probably meaning nothing significant from his lips. He always says pass away comments like that, and each one you desperately try not to read into too much, your heart having a hard time already with calling this relationship between you both casual, never mind your brain popping up with conspiratorial thoughts that he could see you as something more than his non-girlfriend.
Gently, his hands peel the wrapping paper off, and reveal the first gift.Â
âLollipops?â he laughs out, though joy shines from his features.Â
âWell I saw you were running low, and it is my fault you need to stock up on them, soâŚâ you explain sheepishly, your foot carving out nonsense lines in the gravel.
Since you started hooking up, Jaeyun quit smoking. You hate the taste of the cigarette on his tongue and the smell of it in his car, and he caught onto that instantly. The way you would spray your perfume ârandomlyâ after he flicked the butt out his window, or how you offered him a chewing gum coincidently a few minutes before you climbed into his lap and licked into his mouth.Â
It didnât take a genius to figure it out.Â
So he stopped. Cold turkey without a second thought. He still had the itch though, muscle memory constantly bringing something to his lips for a drag. Thatâs when you gave him a strawberry Chupa Chups and he never looked back. His dentist hates you for it, but his doctor couldnât be more delighted.Â
Taking a cola lollipop from the assorted selection, he unwraps it and places it into his mouth, humming as the beautiful taste hits his tastebuds. His tongue swirls the ball of goodness and he instantly smiles at your reaction, deciding to play on it.
You curse him, his smirk widening as he rolls his eyes and opens his mouth just wide enough for you to watch the cola lolly get coated in his saliva, his tongue enveloping it the exact same way he does with your clit when heâs buried face first between your thighs.
Squeezing your legs together in order to stop the flow of arousal from dripping down your leg, you thrust the other present into his chest, retrieving the box of lollipops from him in the process. The further these things are from his mouth right now, the better.
âOkay, now this one,â you urge, clearing your throat and hating the way he pushes the sweet to the side of his mouth, the stick pocking out the corner of his mouth like a toothpick. Somehow, it only made him hotter, like Heath Ledger in 10 Things I Hate About You.
God, now youâre even more horny.
Jaeyun nods and flips the gift over, inspecting what it could possibly be. But heâs never been good at guessing, so he quickly tears the paper off, a little more forcefully than the lollipops. A black box adds another layer of suspense and curiosity. âDid you get me a diamond necklace?â he jokes, but once he peels open the lid, nothing is funny anymore.
His eyes flicker between you and the gift. âY/NâŚâ
âItâs not much, I know. But I thought it was fun,â you explain, scared that itâs not enough.
Picking it from the box, Jaeyun inspects it carefully. To most, itâs just a keyring, but to him, itâs the most thoughtful gift he has ever been given. The mini replica of his precious car, clearly hand-decorated by you stands out - the red decals and perfectly selected interior act as a mirror to the real thing; even the license plate has his famous J4K3YUN etched into it. The black Honda Civic replica sits so tiny yet powerful in his hands.Â
It was the first car he could afford. Everyone laughed at him - even Mingi - when he turned up to his first race. Itâs a shitty little car with not much horsepower, but considering he was only seventeen when he started racing, he could hardly afford to put his student loan into a BMW or Aston Martin. Instead, he modified it, just enough to put his name out there.
His baby has never let him down since. All those times everyone has pestered him to trade her in have never crossed his mind. Even you know how much she means to him. Why else would you have given him an oversized keyring of it?
You know him, and that squeezes Jaeyunâs throat, stopping him from expressing thanks.
âIf you pop open the boot, it has something inside,â you point out, excited. Heâs made modifications to the real thing, but you got crafty with the mini-me.
âCan anything even fit in this?â he laughs but nonetheless, opens the boot - and it is not what he was expecting.Â
The interior has been prettily painted pastel pink, with glitter and gems perfectly placed inside, crowding the minuscule space. The first initials of your names are enveloped in a shakily drawn heart. Itâs pretty and so very, very you.
Jaeyunâs eyes sparkle in the moonlight and you interpret it as pure adoration, injecting some pride into your chest. He likes it - thank fuck.
âI thought it was fun, since yâknow, on the outside youâre all tough and metal but inside youâre just a sparkly pink princess.â You place the lollipop box on the hood and step closer, inspecting your work once more - as if you havenât been scrutinizing every detail of it over the past month.Â
Throwing his head back in a laugh, he blinks away the joy in his tear ducts and nods, sighing out in defeat. âIâm not so sure âprincessâ is the word Iâd use-â he starts, only for you to interrupt.
âOh, you are,â you insist, taking the lollipop from his mouth and placing it in your own, âYouâre the prettiest princess to ever exist, actually.â
âI think that title is reserved for you, baby,â he grins fondly, eyes raking over every feature of your face as you savour the taste of the cola sweet. âThank youâŚso much, Y/N, no one has ever gotten me something so thoughtful. I really love-...it. A lot.â His throat tightens, words tangling up in his chest, but thankfully, you donât seem to notice
Nodding, you give him a soft kiss, careful not to poke him with the lollipop stick, before taking the gift back, carefully placing it and the lollipops in the car for safekeeping. âNow, do you want your big present?â You wiggle your brows and shut the car door, almost skipping back to your spot in front of him.
Jaeyun was so caught up with everything tonight that he forgot that this was the reason he whisked you away as soon as the race ended, at least, it was the shallow reason. The deeper reason is something he wonât speak out into the night air.
Placing his hands on your hips, glides his hands up and down your sides, the warmth from his palms blissfully welcome. You love this dress, the way you feel in it, how it makes you look, but it isnât exactly good for fighting the nipping cold away, especially considering the wind is much thinner up on the cliff.
âMy big presentâŚâ he repeats, bringing his face down to yours, his hot breath creating a rose tint along your cheeks. âI think I want that more than anything right now.â His confession is raw and more than surface-level lust. He has so many emotions running through his body right now, and he knows that your present is going to be exactly what he needs.
âYou need to unwrap it then.â The smirk on your face is contagious and your voice is low. It doesnât take a genius to figure out what your gift is, but heâs in for a treat nonetheless.
Jaeyun does pause for a moment, his hands fiddling with your zipper at the back but hesitant. âI think my gift might freeze to death if I unwrap it here, donât you think?âÂ
You hadnâtâŚthought about that actually. To be honest, when it comes to Jaeyunâs cock, thatâs probably the only thing you think about. Rain or shine, snow or fog; if his dick is close to being inside of you, youâll face any weather.
His fingers pinch the zipper and tug it down slowly, the winter air biting up your spine, but the shivers that are rippling through your body arenât from freezing; the opposite in fact. The ghost of his fingertip creates a heated surge through your body, your skin igniting with pure desire.Â
Pushing the dress off your shoulders, your tits are laid bare in front of him, nipples hard and much more delicous than any lollipop Jaeyun could ever suck. Theyâre perfect, so perfect that he has a hard time putting his love for them into words.
âNo bra?â he asks cheekily, that cocky boy everyone loves swimming to the surface of the night.Â
Shaking your head, you close your eyes as he cups them delicately. âDress didnât look right with it.â
âIs that the only reason?â Jaeyunâs thumbs flick over your hardened buds as he backs you up to the hood, you ass perched against the edge, a welcomed seat considering your legs could turn to jelly at any moment.
Truth be told, it was the main reason you didnât wear a bra, with the tightness of the dress, it didnât allow much more room for any extra padding. But you canât lie and say that you also didn;t adorn one because it would save time.
âIâll take your silence as confirmation, will I?â he murmurs, his lips grazing the hollow of your throat before travelling down, sending waves of warmth through you with each kiss.
You feel the cool press of the hood beneath you as he lifts you up to perch you, his mouth finally closing around one of your nipples now youâre at the perfect height, his tongue tracing lazy, agonising circles that make your breath catch. He shifts to the other, his gaze flicking up to meet yours as he bites gently, eyes smouldering with a dark intensity that only makes you want him more.Â
With each flick of his tongue, your mind fogs over, the chill of the night air long forgotten. His mouth leaves a trail of wet, open-mouthed kisses as he works his way down, fingers slipping under the fabric gathered at your hips, thumbs tracing soothing lines along your waist.
âAre these new?â he hikes your dress up so only your waist is covered and your new panties are on full display for him. Itâs incredible how he noticed initially through touch alone, his mind cataloguing each thong, brief, and lacey panty you own.Â
âYeah, got them a few days ago.â You donât need to tell him that you bought them specifically for his birthday, he will know just by the Ivory colour alone.
A playful smirk curves on his lips as he takes in the sight of your new lingerie, his fingers grazing over the delicate lace with a possessive tenderness. âI thought so,â he murmurs, voice low and almost reverent as his thumb hooks under the fabric, dragging it down with aching slowness, leaving your cunt exposed, yet you feel anything but vulnerable.
There is a thrill of anticipation that crackles between you as his hands linger, his thumb tracing a line along your thigh. Youâre so consumed with how close he is to your heat that you almost miss his other hand coming up to remove the cola lolly from your mouth.Â
âOpen up,â he instructs, which you blindly follow, releasing the delicious treat from your mouth. âGood girl. Now, spread open for me.â
âJaeyu-â
âItâs my birthday, Princess. I still have,â he checks his rewound watch, â36 minutes left, so until then, you gotta do what I say, yeah?âÂ
That sounds perfect to you if you werenât aware of how much of a tease he is. Heâs going to torture you on the hood of his car, you know it, but you relent anyway, giving him a sharp nod and breathing out slowly.
Your legs spread wide, your feet finding stability on his bumper. The compromising position could mean anything, your mind flashing with all the possibilities of what he could do to you.
And by fuck, does he have a sweet, sweet plan.
A glint of mischief flickers in his gaze as he tilts the lollipop, the cola sweet glistening in the moonlight as he brings it down to hover just above your entrance. The sticky sweetness clings to the night air, and you feel your body tense with anticipation, each nerve heightened by the thrill of surrendering control.
He runs the candy along your inner thigh first, slow and deliberate, leaving a faint, sugary trail that he follows with his mouth. The coolness of the lollipop contrasts sharply with the warmth of his breath, sending shivers skittering up your spine as his lips and tongue trace after, claiming every inch of sweetness heâs left on your skin.
Finally, he presses the lollipop between your folds, teasingly dragging it up and down without quite giving you what you need, his eyes fixed on your reactions, devouring every tremor, every bite of your lip and jerk of your hips as the lollipop circles your clit. The sensation is maddening, the blend of sticky from the sweet and your own juices only heightens the ache building within you, and he seems to revel in the slow, torturous rhythm heâs set. He wants to take his time.
The lolly ghosts your entrance before he presses it ever so slightly inside, your breath hitching at the unexpected sensation. His mouth follows close behind, claiming you with a slow, deliberate kiss that has your toes curling against the bumper, his tongue tracing the sweetness lingering on your skin.
A wave of heat radiates through you as Jaeyun continues his maddeningly slow pace, the lollipop pressed just at your entrance, teasing and coaxing you in a way that has your pulse racing, much like how it was when you were near death on Devilâs Corner.Â
He dips the lollipop in a little further, the rounded edge pressing in just enough to make you gasp and claw at his car bonnet, and then he draws it back out, running it up and over your clit with agonising patience. The pressure of the sweet gliding over your most sensitive spot has you squirming, but his hands are firm on your thighs, keeping you right where he wants you.
âHold still,â he murmurs, a wicked smile curving on his lips as he swirls the lollipop slowly, tracing lazy circles that leave you breathless. The candy, now coated in your own slick, sends shockwaves through you, and you feel yourself clenching, trying to draw him deeper, desperate for more. Jaeyun seems to notice, and he chuckles softly, his warm breath tickling against your inner thigh.
With one last, lingering drag of the candy over your clit, he brings it to his mouth, sucking in the mix of flavours. Your sweetness mixing on his tastebuds with the cola makes his eyes roll and contemplate opening up a business just for him that sells pussy flavoured lollies. Specifically, your pussy, of course.
âYouâre fucking delicious, Princess,â he moans out, sucking the pop with fervour. Youâre so jealous and you curse ever buying him them. But not really, the scene of his tongue lapping it up eagerly, mixed with the saliva that's glistening on his lips only adds a series of precious memories that you can happily store in your wank bank.
Threading your fingers through his hair, you tug at it just rough enough for him to growl. âPlease, Iâm trying to cum for you before your birthday ends.â
âYeah?â he huffs out a laugh and tosses the almost obsolete lolly away, the stick hidden by the gravel that swallows it. âI can make that happen.â
âGood-â
âIf you beg.â
You freeze, resisting the urge to tell him to go fuck himself. If there is one thing you hate most in the world, itâs begging for a man. You can submit to Jaeyun, sure, thatâs easy enough. But thereâs something so humiliating about having to plead for your own pleasure. He never makes you beg, usually too fucking impatient himself to play that game, so this is not exactly in your forte.
âIâm not begging. No way.â You cross your arms and shake your head adamantly.Â
Jaeyunâs smirk widens as he sees your defiance, his gaze darkening with something that borders on both amusement and challenge. âReally now?â he murmurs as his thumb traces slow circles on your inner thigh, inching achingly close but not quite where you want him. âYouâre gonna stand by that?â
His eyes roam over you, taking in the way your body reacts despite your stubbornness, and you can feel the tension building in the air as he leans in, his lips hovering just above your core, close enough for you to feel the heat of his breath. The anticipation sends shivers racing over your skin, but you keep your arms crossed, refusing to relent.Â
âI know you hate it. Youâre so powerful, baby. I adore that about you,â he continues in a low murmur, voice laced with a teasing edge, âBut just once, for me?â He pouts, bottom lip overtaking his entire face and somehow making him look even more irresistible.
That fucking pout.
With a small laugh, he shifts down, pressing soft and tongue-focused kisses along your thighs, each one closer than the last. His breath is warm, and you can feel the control slipping from you with every careful movement.
âFine,â you say finally, voice barely more than a whisper, âPlease, eat me out.âÂ
âCome on, Princess. If youâre going to beg, I want to hear you properly.â
âJaeyun,â you whine, already flushing up with embarrassment.
âHow about,â his mouth places one feather-light kiss on your clit, a gasp of pleasure drawing from your lips, âI beg you to beg me? Then weâre both on the same boat.âÂ
Now, while you donât like to beg, you love to hear Jaeyun beg. There have been countless times when youâre on your knees, much like he is now, and your mouth is a hairline away from his tip, and heâs thrashing under you, moaning out pleas and needs in a higher pitch, wanting nothing more than you to consume his painfully hard cock in his mouth.
Jaeyun doesnât have humility when he is with you, heâll scratch and claw at the bedsheets, whine out your name in desperation, and have you take full control if you want to. You wish you could be more like that, because fuck does it look beautiful, and you know he will love it if youâre a crying, pleading mess under him.Â
It would be the perfect birthday gift, actually.
So with a heavy sigh, you close your eyes and clear your throat. âOkay. But only if you go first.â
Jaeyun smirks and rubs some heat back into your legs. With soft, kitten-like licks, he plays between your folds, giving you an inch of what's to come. âPrincess, please beg for me. Iâve been such a good birthday boy, have I not? I need to hear you want me, the same way I need you. This pretty pussy deserves to be devoured, and I can only do that if you beg for it. Please, baby. Pretty please with a lollipop on top.â
God, he is so fucking good at it. Somehow he still sounds so strong and assured even when you can hear the cracks in his voice and the tremble on his lips. His hips buck the air, mimicking what he wants to do with you, his cock leading him, thinking with his second head.
Whimpering, you look down to see him adorning that pretty pout once again, and you crumble.
âI nod. JaeyunâŚplease make my cum on your tongue, let me give you the best birthday gift. I want you to lap me up and never stop, make you remember this birthday for the rest of your life. Please, baby.â
You donât cringe, instead letting your desperation take charge, which gladly works. Jaeyun groans loudly at your filthy words as they echo over the cliff, giving the city indication of whatâs taking place. His cock is so painfully hard against his jeans that he wonders if it has the ability to tear through the material like Hulk when he transforms. It certainly feels like it could.
âGood girl,â he praises, before giving you what you crave.
Connecting his mouth to your core, his skilled tongue has you keening, head falling back against the car hood as he licks a broad, firm stroke from your entrance to your clit. His lips close around you, his tongue flicking and swirling as he loses himself in the taste of you, his hands spreading your thighs even wider to hold you firmly in place.
He slurps and devours you, humming into your hole in pure lust. Jaeyun loves nothing more than being buried in pussy, he could spend the rest of his life between thighs, your thighs. The added tints of cola still lingering on your skin only heighten his arousal, the sweet tang mixture enough for him to dig his nails into your thighs and bury further in.
Arching your back, your thighs fight his grip as they try and clamp around his head, the way his tongue dips into your hole, rimming it with teasing strokes before shooting back in makes your head dizzy, the November air suddenly feeling like a July breeze - welcomed and just right.
âFuck,â you hiss out as he bites at your folds, dragging the sensitive flesh between his teeth, another way of tormenting you yet giving you everything you could want. His bottom teeth drag up to your clit with his puffy bottom lip trailing behind it like a soothing balm.Â
Youâre starting to wonder whether itâs his birthday or yours.
With precision, Jaeyun latches onto your clit and suddenly, youâre seeing more stars in the sky, body lurching forward as you trap him there. The tension coils tightly in your stomach, and he takes his time, alternating between sucking and licking, bringing you right to the edge and pulling back just before you can tip over, savouring every second of your mounting need.
âJaeyun, pleaseâŚâ you gasp, fingers threading through his hair, and he hums against you, sending a shudder through your entire body.Â
âSee? You can beg so easily,â he mocks playfully, smirking as your thighs act as earmuffs. Despite the barricade, he can still hear every plea and mewl that falls from your lips, indicating that youâre close.
So, he picks up the pace, his hands gripping under your ass to push you further into his face. His round nose nuzzles your nub as his tongue swirls around inside your cunt, the tip of his tongue committing every bump and nook to memory - not like he hasnât already. He knows everything about you, thatâs what happens when you spend seven months doting on and worshipping the same person.
Grabbing tightly onto his hair, you feel the knot in your stomach begin to pull apart, the threads of rope straining as your climax tugs. âIâm cummingâŚfuck, Jaeyun,â you warn, but itâs not breaking news to the man causing the euphoria. Heâs licking, sucking, and biting with ferocity because he knows youâre falling apart
He hums against you, the sound vibrating through your body, his tongue flicking over you with such skill it has you trembling. âCome on, Princess. Let go for me,â he whispers, his words like a command, and your body is happy to obey.
And then, it hits you - the release crashing through you, sending shudders of pleasure through every nerve in your body. You canât stop it, your back arching as you clutch at his hair, your thighs trembling as the wave washes over you, and Jaeyun doesnât stop. He keeps going, worshipping you like heâs addicted to your taste, drawing out every last drop of your orgasm.
Your chest heaves and your body goes limp as he cleans your pussy, making sure he takes every drop of his birthday gift. You taste heavenly, your cum swirling in his mouth as he slurps and sucks, the shocks jolting up your spine each time he nudges over your clit.
Once your legs release his head, he glances up at you through his thick lashes, mouth covered in your essence. âThank you, baby,â he praises, his chest filled with a cocktail of emotions, the first as foremost one being adoration. âWith 10 minutes to spare too,â he laughs, glancing at his watch.
Jaeyun stands up, kissing you with passion. He transfers your juices onto your mouth and you groan at the taste. All those days of downing pineapple and cranberry juice always pay off. His tongue licks yours, taking over your entire mouth as he claims you. His lips are sweet but his touch is anything but, you know heâs desperate, if his actions werenât enough, the painful bulge thatâs bucking into your sensitive folds is enough to tell you.
Swiftly, your hands move to his buckle, undoing it amongst the breathtaking kisses. It doesnât take you more than a minute to undo his jeans and push them just low enough that his ass is on full display and his hard shaft can spring free. His cock is so pretty, like a work of art; six inches of pure joy. Youâve lost count of how many times this cock has made you come undone, the curve of it hitting perfectly into your cunt, like it was made for you. In some ways, you think it is.
Spreading your legs once again, you wrap your hand around his cock, the heat from it a stark contrast to your still cold hands. The sensation elicits a hiss from the birthday boy, his lips pulling from yours as he looks down. Your hand just fits around his length, and that makes his tip twitch. Heâs proud of his size, but somehow he loves it even more when in the clasp of your fingers.
You press it against your wet core and he loses any sense of control he had left.
With a primal growl, he grabs your hips and lines up at your entrance, not even bothering to tease you. Between your outfit, the rush of the race, your cries of pleasure from his tongue work, and the overwhelming tightness in his heart, he needs to be inside you. Now.
Jaeyun slides in fully with one thrust, both of you creating a beautiful harmony of moans that echo like a choir in the night. His cock fills you up to the brim, his balls sitting comfortably against your ass. You feel like fucking heaven, in fact, if he was to die right now, he would do so happily. Those pearl gates could only mirror the happiness and alleviation that he feels as he buried himself to the hilt inside your warm hole.
His forehead rests on your shoulder, his lips peppering a succession of kisses just above your collarbone as he begins to move his hips, eyes rolling to the back of his head with each bump of your walls hugging him.
âJesus fucking christ, Princess,â he mumbles, officially lost in the act of pleasure. Heâs not thinking about anything else, just how your wet heat feels enveloping him.
You canât say your thoughts arenât also only consumed by the tip of his cock poking your cervix so deliciously, his balls slapping against you almost mimicking a spank each time. His thrusts pick up pace and you both lose yourselves in one another, chanting praises and curses to convey your feelings.
Jaeyunâs hands roam over your body as his cock pounds into you, switching from holding your hips in place to kneading your breasts, each one serving their own purpose. He wants you still so he can keep hitting that perfect spot over and over again, the squishy spec in your cunt his main target, but your tits bouncing in the moonlight keep distracting him, his cock losing power as his brain gets clouded in the movements.
âYouâre so beautiful, Princess,â he confesses, kissing the valley between your breasts. âSo, so beautiful.â
Your heart hammers harder, the pulse resounding in your ear as you smile gratefully. âSo are you, Jaeyun.â And you mean it. Heâs the most beautiful person inside and out, youâre never going to meet anyone like him again, and thatâs what terrifies you.
Jaeyun locks his eyes on yours, his hips finding a new determined rhythm. He presses his forehead against yours, nuzzling his nose with yours in a kiss. How is it possible to feel so adored and cherished by a man you have no label with? Thatâs the question running through your mind as you stare into his soul, begging for him to answer.
And in some way, he does. His pupils shine with nothing but your reflection, showing just how deeply you're ingrained in him. Though neither of you may voice exactly what this is, you both know it.
As you lose yourselves in each other, that familiar coil tightens low in your belly, heat pooling with a desperate need for release. You dig your nails into Jaeyun's shoulders and bury your face in his neck, signalling you're close.
Gripping your waist, he matches your rhythm, pushing you both to the edgeâmetaphorically this time, thankfully. He's already brought you close enough to danger tonight; thereâs no need to test fate again.
"Come on, baby. Cum for me," he urges, jaw clenched as he holds back his own release. Heâs never been one to finish before his girl.
With his coaxing and the delicious sensation of him deep inside, you reach your climax once more, this time more intense than you expected. You bite down on his neck to muffle your moans, and like a domino, he spills into you.Â
His white ropes soothe your cunt, painting your walls with his adoration of you. The best decision you ever made was getting an IUD. You know itâs not full protection, but for the feeling of his seed filling you up like a cream piping bag, youâre willing to take the risk.
Jaeyun holds you close, his breath mingling with yours as both of you come down from the high, eyes blazing secret confessions into one another. The steady thud of his heart under your palm feels grounding, almost comforting in the quiet aftermath. You shift slightly, feeling his warmth begin to fade in the cool night air, yet he doesnât let you go just yet, keeping you wrapped up in him.
âHappy birthday,â you whisper softly, letting your lips brush against his jaw, a faint smile tugging at your mouth.Â
Mirroring your expression, he melts into your pepper kisses as you trail down his neck, paying extra attention to the skin you marked up with your canines. His large hands glide up your back and hold you close to him. âThank you.â Itâs simple, but heâs biting his tongue, the moment too perfect to destroy with his post-nut brain.
You sense his apprehension and lean back, gazing into his eyes and studying the specs of his brain that you can make out. âYou okay? Youâre usually cracking out a joke by now,â you ask playfully, but thereâs an undercurrent of concern in your tone.
Jaeyun bites his lips together, preparing himself to possibly make the biggest mistake of his life. He pulls out of you, jerking his cock clean enough that he can get away with it, before tucking it back into his trousers.Â
Oh no.
Your mind does everything to convince you that this isnât going to end the way you think it will. The efforts to soothe your racing mind falter just at the finish line. This is it. Heâs going to hit you with the âthis has been fun but itâs not what I want anymoreâ or âhey, so this was great but youâre not what iâm looking forâ. Whatever concoction of those sentences he wants to spin, you know itâs going to hurt. Youâre in too deep.
And you would much rather be humiliated with your clothes on. So you jump off the hood of the car, your slick glistening in the night lights like a snail trail. Suddenly, the acts you just took part in have turned from euphoric to sickly.
âListen-â
âI meant it,â he interrupts, not even letting you end this before he can. âI really mean it when I say youâre the only girl for me.â
Youâre waiting on the but, yet it never comes. Instead, heâs biting his lip nervously, looking at you but not into your eyes, his focus on your forehead like a sniper in the woods. And you feel like youâve been shot, just not in the hurtful way you were expecting, itâs almost like youâre on the receiving end of a blank and the shock is ringing in your ears more than anything.
You stand dumbfounded, zipping up your dress at the back. âHuh?â Itâs stupid and not what you want to ask, but your flabber has been gasted.
Jaeyun groans and rubs over his face. âI donât want anyone else. And I know youâre annoyingly loyal to Yeonjun, but I canât pretend that this isnât more than what it is.â He steps forward and cups your flushed face, the cold now settling upon it once again. âI. Love. You. I have for fucking months, andâŚI donât know, I canât keep pretending I donât.â
I. Love. You.
Itâs such a simple and common phrase, yet hearing it in his accent, from his mouth, directed at you, you find it foreign.Â
Jaeyun hates the silence that follows, the horns from the cars down below act like a mocking laugh to the moment. He knows its risky, confessing his feelings so bluntly, but if he had to keep them in any longer then he might have buried them forever and harboured an even deeper resentment towards himself and your brother.
âYouâre stuck between a rock and a hard place, I get that. But can we call a spade a spade and admit that we love each other?â He insists, now finding his confidence. Go big or go home, he supposes. Heâs convinced you love him too, you look at him the way he does you, and even if itâs only a tiny speckle of love that you hold for him, he needs you to admit it. For his sanity, and yours.
You canât process a single thought beyond his words, their weight pressing down on you, making it impossible to breathe for a second. The world falls quiet around you, the buzzing city and distant hum of traffic fading as your mind hones in on his face, the intensity of his gaze, the subtle quiver of his lip as he waits.
âJaeyun,â you manage, though it barely comes out above a whisper, âThis isnâtâŚthis isnât exactly what we agreed on.â Stupid. Why the fuck are you saying that NOW.
âI know, but I also know you feel it too.â His thumb moves tenderly across your cheek, brushing over the spot where a tear might fall if you let it. âAnd if thereâs even the slightest chance that you feel what I feel, I just need to know.â He pauses, his voice softening as he meets your gaze fully. âBecause youâre it for me. Iâm tired of pretending I donât want to be with you completely. You deserve to be loved, and although I might not deserve to be the one to give you that, I want to try.â
You want to look away, to retreat and give yourself a chance to think, but his eyes are pleading with you to stay present, to face this. And the truth is, in some corner of your heart that you've tried to ignore, you know what he's saying is true.
But YeonjunâŚIf he finds out, heâll never forgive you. Itâs one thing to be in a fun fling with his rival, itâs another to be completely and utterly head over heels for the boy.
The silence is thick, but thereâs an odd comfort in it. You reach up, covering his hand with yours, grounding yourself in his warmth. âI donât want to lose you,â you murmur, voice trembling. âAnd IâŚI donât know how weâd make it work without hurting Yeonjun.â
Jaeyunâs grip tightens, his confidence anchoring you. âIâll make it work. Iâll do everything to make sure he accepts it. Iâll step down as the Luciferâs leader, Iâll get on my knees and beg, baby I will do whatever it takes to get him on our side. I donât want to come between you both, I know how precious he is to you, and you to him,â he pauses, breathing out and collecting his thoughts before he goes on a desperate faffing rant, his point losing focus. âI love you, and that means loving every part of you.â
âIn the carâŚâ you begin, voice unsure, âYou said something about how Yeonjun would become your family, you meant-â
âYeah, listen. Donât freak out about that. I was jumping the gun with that oneâŚbut I mean, is it so unplausible? For us to be together? To imagine a future with you?â
âThereâs a big difference between jumping into dating and leaping into marriage, Jaeyun.â
âOkay? So weâll hold back on the leaping for now,â he laughs, pressing his forehead to yours, âbut tell me youâll jump.â
His breath mingles with yours, warm and steadying, grounding you in a way that makes your hesitation falter. "Jaeyun," you begin, your voice so soft it barely carries the weight of what youâre feeling. "Itâs terrifying to even think about, you know that, right? Yeonjun isâŚhe's been there my whole life, my protector, my brotherâŚyouâre asking me to risk that.â
"I know." He cups your face, his thumb tracing slow, tender circles along your cheek, calming and reassuring. "And I wouldn't ask you if I didnât believe with every part of me that weâre worth it. But Iâm not going anywhere until youâre ready; whether thatâs now, or tomorrow, or a hundred years from now. Iâm in this, Y/N. All the way. I just need you to say yes."
Your lips part, the words catching in your throat, suspended between the comfort of safety and the thrill of the unknown. Slowly, you reach out and lace your fingers through his, giving his hand a gentle squeeze. "Alright," you say, a tremor of nerves mingling with the glint of determination in your eyes. "Iâll jumpâŚbut youâd better catch me, Jaeyun."
A grin breaks across his face, and for a moment, everything else fades away; the rivalry, the fear, even Yeonjun. Itâs just you and him, exactly how it should have been from the beginning.
"Always," he whispers, voice filled with quiet conviction. Then he closes the distance between you, sealing your promise with a kiss thatâs soft, lingering, and brimming with all the words neither of you dared to speak out loud.
But maybe itâs time you do
âI love you too, Jaeyun,â you confess, eyes boring into his heart.
His eyes widen for a split second, and you see the disbelief flicker across his face, not quite sure he heard you right. But then his gaze softens, and a smile breaks across his face, one so genuine and unguarded that it sends warmth flooding through you. His hand tightens around yours, squeezing his happiness into your veins and bones.
"You donât know how long Iâve waited to hear you say that," he murmurs, brushing his thumb over your knuckles with a tenderness that leaves your heart aching. âI fucking love you. I love you, I love you, I love you.â He chants, kissing all over your face, causing you to scrunch up and laugh, attempting to push him away but failing - not that youâre going to complain about that.
Thereâs a sense of relief, a lightness you havenât felt in so long, as if all the weight of secrecy and uncertainty has lifted. For once, youâre not worrying about the consequences, about what could go wrong or who might get hurt. Right now, itâs just you and him, and the truth laid bare between you.
âYes, okay, we love each other! Enough!â you giggle between his million and one kisses.
His hand comes up to cradle your cheek, his fingers grazing your skin with reverence. âIâm never letting you go now, you realise that, donât you?â
You nod, a smile creeping across your face, and pull him in for another kiss, this one filled with the promise of everything that lies ahead. âOh I know. Just wait till I tell your crew,â you laugh, pushing him away. ââOh, Y/N, I love you sooooo much. Youâre the best thing that ever happened to me-'â
Your imitation is cut short, his hand flying over your mouth as he suppresses a laugh, trying to portray fear that isnât truly there. âCâmon! You canât ruin my reputation like that,â he whines, giving you that signature pout.Â
âOh but I will-â Without warning, he picks you up, tossing you over his shoulder as he carried you to the backseat. âJaeyun! Put me down!â
âIâm going to fuck every word and thought out of that pretty brain of yours so you never utter my soft side to a soul,â he playfully jabs, opening the backseat and tossing you inside.
âWellâŚI have a lot of thoughtsâŚand words,â you reply, biting your lip as you settle across the seats, legs already accommodating for him.
âThen itâs gonna be a long night. I suppose Iâll need to turn my clock back some more, donât you think?â

Im an artist and I'll draw everyone who donates to me even if its 1$
Hi guys,
Im smir im an 18 year old University student i live alone and doing art is my only source of income
The past 2 months have been very hard for me and i am now late on all the bills but my biggest problem rn is that i might be expelled from my university if I don't pay the tution fee in 3 days as im already late for it
I know joining a college with weak financial condition was very risky move for me but it was my dream college and i didn't expect all the bad things that happened the past month
For me the college is my last hope for my future career as well because I can't be doing art for my whole life because just like this anything can go wrong and since i live alone college is my last hope for my life
I dont like asking for free money especially on the internet, this is a very tough situation for me so i will draw a sketch of everyone who donates to me 1$
I will draw a quick 10 min sketch to a detailed 90 min sketch depending on the amount
And if you want a sketch like the 1st,4th and 5th images above (sketch with some text on it)
I have created a seperate commision section for it as well
https://ko-fi.com/smir7/commissions
If you want a simple normal potrait like the 3rd image you can donate any amount to me on this link and I'll draw it https://ko-fi.com/smir7
I'll be forever grateful for everyone who donates and I'll make sure to draw a nice sketch for you
Please don't worry that i might not have time for doing your commision , im ready to work hard for a few weeks i can take as many commisions and sketches rn , it will be a busy 2 weeks from now but I'll draw all the requests without any exception
I will send a high resolution printable pic for all the sketches and commisions

ââ homie hoppinâ ( lhs, pjs, sjy, psh ) Öź đ
â đ
ŕš Heeseung never wanted to believe the rumors about you around campus, to him you could never do wrong and he sees you as nothing less than an angel. But when his friends begin telling him about their nightly escapades with some âmystery girlâ that sounds awfully familiar, he grows more suspicious of your true intentions youâve been hiding all along.
pair: hyung line ă
f!reader, college au | warnings: pwp, smut, angst (kinda ??), hook-up culture, yn is the biggest fuckgirl omg (but sheâs sooo cuntyy), humour, slut-shaming (not from the boys), daddy kink, oral (m + f. rec), mentions of running a train but it doesnât happen lol, lots of s.x flashbacks, yn is so unbothered by everything đ´, unprotected s.x (yikes !!!) | teaser wc: 857
thanks to @leeechin & @pshbites for enabling this idea LOL, couldnât have done it without them frfr. also hereâs a silly little preview of whatâs to come (it gets real MESSY in this sfdsfsd)
⌠. ăâş ă . ⌠. ăâş ă . âŚ
heeseung was never really the type to ever engage in gossip or drama going around campus. heâd rather simply mind his business and keep it moving, it was useless to entertain it anywayâ most of the rumors held zero truth or any proof to back them up. what does seem to grab his attention however, is your name being constantly brought up in almost everyoneâs mouths. you were the talk of the whole school and it wasnât anything good that was being said about the girl heâs been sleeping around with on and off for the past few months or so.
âoh you know about y/n? isnât she the one whoâs always bouncing from one friend group to the next ? i wouldnât trust her around my man even for a second..â
âdidnât she let leehan hit it at that party last night ? that girl needs to be stopped, sheâs always messing around with different guys..â
âwasnât she just with eunseok last week ? he was telling me all about how him and sungchan took turns on her.â
he couldnât believe half the stuff that was being said about you. not only was it just plain disrespectful, but it was also disgusting how some people could spew such fabricated nonsense as if you werenât a real human being with feelings. heeseung knew you two werenât exclusive but youâve been seeing each other more frequently, which made him think he might have a chance to make things official. at least he thought so, until he saw you talking with one of his close friends, jaeyun in the library. you both were way too close for comfort and the way you were giving him those same bedroom eyes that youâd always flash at heeseung, made his whole body fill up with an unimaginable amount of rage.
you were quite popular and well known around campus, your charming persona and pretty face was the perfect combo to get anyone to fall head over heels for you. everywhere you went youâd turn heads, all the boys would be breaking their necks just to get a glimpse of you. the tiny skirts youâd always wear had their eyes practically bulging out of their sockets, which only made the other girls seethe in utter jealousy. the way you could command an entire room without even trying was a superpower in itself, you didnât need to put in the extra work to get all the attention on you because everyone gave it to you automatically.
it wasnât until heeseung began hearing more about his friendâs sex lives that heâd grow more suspicious of whatâs really going on. he usually zones out and doesnât really listen much whenever they talked about it, but since the movie they were watching wasnât all that interesting, he began shifting his attention to his friends. jaeyun and jongseong were always bragging about how much pussy theyâd get but they seemed to hyperfocus on one particular girl that seems to get brought up a lot in their conversations. jaeyun would say how she gave him the âmost life changing headâ heâs ever received, meanwhile jongseong was describing how some girl he fucked a few days ago rode his dick like a grade A pornstar.
heeseung wasnât adding much of his input into the conversation, and neither was sunghoon as he tends to keep that part of his life more private. but, what made him suddenly wanna jump up in his seat was when jaeyun was telling them how hot the girl looked when he fucked her from behind, she had a back tattoo and he thought that was the sexiest shit ever. he never specified exactly what the tattoo was, but he remembers that you also had one too. maybe heâs just reading too much into it ? could it really be you they were talking about ? nah.. thereâs no way. heâs sure thereâs plenty other women with back tattoos walking around campus, it simply could be an eerie coincidence. he knows he isnât the only one that youâre sleeping with, but to mess around with his friends would be a new low for him. he wouldnât know what heâd do if he were to find out that happened..
his worries would only worsen when he catches sunghoon smiling and faintly giggling at his phone about something, to which jongseong asks him whatâs so funny. sunghoon simply shrugs it off and says itâs nothing, quickly locking his phone before he lifts up from the couch to announce that heâs going back to his dorm. they all exchange their goodbyes and wish him a safe walk back to his place. but when he left, he was walking in the direction completely opposite of his dorm, he was heading the exact same way it took to get to your building instead. now heâs really starting to overthink at this point. thereâs absolutely no way youâre actually fucking all of his friends and he doesnât have a single clue about it. heeseung may be quite oblivious at times but he isnât that stupid. heâs probably overreacting. again, could just be a very weird coincidence⌠right ?
just leave a comment if you wanna be added to the taglist á(ââ¸âźâś)á

vacation gone wrong
sana x fem!reader
synopsis: you and sana, workaholic doctors, go on a vacation for a week. no phones, no surgeries, just the two of you. what could go wrong?
wc: 2.7k
warnings: iâd say none. itâs just really fluffy with chaos lol
it was supposed to be the perfect anniversary getaway.
sana, your brilliant and often frustratingly busy cardiothoracic surgeon wife, had been working her ass off for months. saving lives, performing surgeries, managing a department full of patients - she was damn good at it. but even she knew she needed a break. so, youâd both agreed: a week in a cozy, secluded cabin by a quiet lake. no phones, no surgeries, just you two, and maybe some wine and cuddling. a fucking dream, right?
youâd been married for five years now, which felt both like a lifetime and like it had all happened yesterday. both of you were workaholics, driven by the same damn passion for helping others. but this? this was about you two. about the break you both desperately needed.
but of course, the universe had other plans.
it started innocently enough. you and sana were driving through the winding mountain roads, music playing low in the background. you were laughing about something dumb - the kind of stupid, inside joke only long-term couples could understand. sanaâs hand was resting on the gearshift, and you kept sneaking glances at her because, letâs be real, she was hot as hell, even after five years.
âcan you believe weâve been married for five years?â you ask, your voice dripping with affection.
sana smirks, eyes soft. âfeels like just yesterday we were sitting in that little coffee shop, bitching about how insane our schedules were.â
you chuckle. âi remember you telling me youâd never have time for a relationship.â
âdid i?â she laughs, glancing over at you, her eyes glinting mischievously. âi mustâve been lying.â
âdamn right you were.â you poke her shoulder playfully, but just as you do, a sudden, bone-shaking screech fills the air, followed by the unmistakable sound of metal crunching. the car jerks to the side.
âhold on!â sana yells, her voice suddenly sharp and focused. she yanks the wheel to avoid a head-on collision with an out-of-control truck, its tire blown, veering into your lane.
your heart slams in your chest as sana wrestles with the wheel, your stomach flipping as the truck skids past. you blink, trying to regain your bearings, your pulse hammering.
âyou good?â sana asks, voice tight, eyes scanning you. her hands are already checking the dashboard, her medical mind clicking into high gear.
you nod, trying to calm the hell down. âyeah, iâm fine. are you?â
âiâm good,â she mutters, still scanning the road. âiâm pulling over to check on them.â
you open your mouth to protest, to remind her that this was supposed to be vacation, but sheâs already out of the car, her white coat flapping as she rushes to the truck. you canât help but roll your eyes. âsana, seriously?â
you follow her anyway, because what else are you going do? youâre both doctors. youâve seen your fair share of chaos. but when you see the truck driver, an elderly man sitting in his seat, looking a little dazed but otherwise fine, your worry shifts to something else entirely: a motorcycle zooming towards you from behind, clearly out of control.
you spin around, your stomach dropping. âsana! get down!â
but itâs too late. the bike rider is coming in too fast, and before you can even think, the rider crashes into a tree just a few feet from where sana is kneeling by the truck driver.
fuck.
sanaâs on her feet before you can blink, already running toward the downed rider, her doctor instincts kicking in. you follow her, your own heart in your throat, your mind racing. the woman on the bike is unconscious but breathing, and sanaâs hands are all business, checking for any injuries.
you try not to stare at her, but goddamn, youâre impressed. itâs always hot when sheâs in âdoctor mode,â but watching her save people like this? itâs next-level.
the next few hours blur together. you both take care of the elderly truck driver, call for an ambulance, and tend to the motorcycle rider, who thankfully wakes up, grumbling about how sheâs going to be âso sore tomorrow.â youâre just glad sheâs alive. by the time the paramedics arrive, youâre both covered in dirt and leaves, adrenaline still coursing through your veins.
you climb back into the car, still trying to catch your breath. âdo you think weâll actually make it to the cabin this time, or is that asking too much?â
sana glances at you, shaking her head and smirking. âyou really think this is it? the universeâs done with us? babe, weâre not even close to being done yet.â
you laugh, but you both know sheâs right. youâve barely started the damn vacation and already the universe is giving you a full course of bullshit. but, as you glance over at her - tired but unshaken, a little dirt streaked across her cheek, but still radiant - you feel a surge of fondness. maybe this is it. maybe itâs not about the vacation. itâs about surviving this shitshow together.
the next day, after a restless night full of nightmares and whispered reassurances from your wife, you start the drive again. youâre both cautiously optimistic as you cruise through a forested section of the road, sunlight flickering through the trees.
but of course, just as you round a bend, thereâs a loud cracking sound. a deer bolts out of the trees, eyes wide with terror, running straight into your path.
âsana, fucking stop!â you shout as she slams on the brakes, your heart nearly leaping out of your chest as the car skids across the gravel. the deer bounds away, a blur of brown and panic. the car comes to a stop, just barely missing it.
you both exhale like youâve been holding your breath the entire time. âokay, okay, thatâs it,â you mutter, hands trembling. âi think we should just go home.â
âno.â sanaâs tone is firm, eyes steely, even though you know sheâs just as rattled as you are. âweâre fine. weâve got this.â
you both know damn well that youâre far from fine, but you also know that neither of you will let this stop you.
by day three, the frustration has started to settle in. another near-miss, another car accident. itâs getting fucking ridiculous. youâve almost come to terms with the fact that this vacation is cursed when another damn van suddenly swerves into your lane, sliding toward you at a terrifying speed.
âsana!â you scream, but you know sheâs already on it. the car swerves, just barely missing the van, the side mirror of the van grazing your bumper. a few seconds later, the van skids into a ditch.
another. fucking. near-miss. youâve both barely processed it when you pull over once more.
âokay, okay,â you mutter, voice a little raw. âmaybe weâre just not supposed to have a vacation, huh?â
sana turns to you, her expression softening despite the exhaustion in her eyes. âmaybe weâre just meant to be together. no matter what.â
sheâs right. no matter how many times life throws a curveball, you two always come back to each other. and honestly? you wouldnât have it any other way.
finally, on the fifth day, you both make it to the cabin. youâre bruised, battered, but somehow, more in love than ever. youâve survived every crash, every disaster, because you had each other. the cabin door slams shut behind you, cutting off the chaos of the world.
and as you sit on the porch that evening, staring out at the peaceful lake, you feel the weight of the world finally lift. the chaos is over. for now, anyway.
âfive years,â you murmur, your hand in hers as you both look up at the stars.
âfive more, and five after that,â she whispers, her voice like a promise.
âmaybe ten,â you grin, nudging her shoulder.
the universe can keep throwing bullshit your way, but youâve got this. together. and thatâs all that matters.
bonus scene: dinner at the lakeside restaurant
after what felt like an eternity of mishaps, you and sana finally settled into a quiet dinner at a lakeside restaurant. the space was warm, intimate, with soft lighting and the hum of conversation filling the air. you could almost forget the chaos of the past few days - the truck, the motorcycle, the deer, and everything in between. tonight, it was just the two of you, enjoying a peaceful moment.
âhereâs to surviving the chaos,â you joke, raising your glass of wine and giving sana a playful grin.
she chuckles, her fingers brushing yours across the table. âyeah, but iâm not tempting fate again. letâs just enjoy this for once.â
you laugh, feeling the weight of everything youâve been through lighten, even just a little. for a moment, it feels like the world outside doesnât exist - youâre safe here, tucked away from the madness. but then, as if the universe has other plans, everything changes.
a loud, panicked shout breaks the calm: âsomeone help! my wifeâ sheâs going into labor! oh, god, please, somebody help!â
without hesitation, you both stand up, instinctively moving toward the commotion. a man is pacing frantically between tables, his hands running through his hair as his wife bends over, clutching her stomach in pain. her face is pale, her breaths coming in shallow, jagged gasps.
without a word, you and sana exchange a look, both of you already in motion. thereâs no hesitation in the way you move, no panic. youâve been through this before - you know exactly what to do.
you approach the husband first, your voice calm but firm. âiâm a doctor. weâre going to help her. i need you to take a deep breath. you panicking isnât going to help her right now.â
he nods shakily, his eyes wide with fear, but he tries to steady himself. âshe wasnât due yet. sheâs only 28 weeks. i donât know what to do.â
âyou donât have to do anything right now. weâve got this,â you assure him, your hand on his shoulder for a moment before you move toward the woman. âmaâam, iâm here to help. my nameâs dr. y/n, and this is dr. sana. weâre going to keep you and your baby safe, okay?â
she nods but doesnât speak, her breath quickening. another contraction hits, and she cries out, her grip tightening around the edge of the table. her husbandâs face is stricken with helplessness, but sana is already beside the woman, her hands moving quickly, checking her pulse, assessing her condition.
âmaâam, i need you to focus on your breathing,â sana says gently, her tone soothing but authoritative. âin through your nose, out through your mouth. letâs take it slow. youâre doing great.â
the woman nods, trying to follow the rhythm. her face is twisted in pain, and her hands are gripping the table, knuckles white. you step in, kneeling beside her, offering her a soft smile to help keep her calm.
âyouâre doing great,â you repeat, squeezing her hand. âjust breathe with me. in through your nose, out through your mouth. focus on me.â
her eyes meet yours, full of fear. âplease, is my baby going to be okay?â
âyes, weâre going to make sure you both are okay,â you reassure her, glancing up at sana, whoâs already keeping an eye on the womanâs vitals. her expression is controlled, but you can see the urgency in her movements.
the husband steps forward, his face twisted with anxiety. âi donât understand⌠she wasnât supposed to go into labor yet! what do we do?â
sana glances up at you, her eyes narrowing in thought. âwe donât have iv fluids here, but thereâs a first aid kit in the car. iâll grab it. itâs not much, but it could help stabilize her for now.â
the husbandâs eyes widen with disbelief. âa first aid kit? what good is that going to do? my wifeâs in labor early!â
sana remains calm, her voice reassuring. âitâs not ideal, but itâs what weâve got. iâll be right back. stay with her.â
you nod at her, giving her hand a quick squeeze. âweâve got this,â you say to the husband, keeping your tone firm but supportive. âwe just need to keep her calm, keep her breathing.â
sana rushes out the door, and you stay by the womanâs side, speaking gently as another contraction hits. âyouâre doing great. just breathe with me. in, out. keep your focus. weâre here with you.â
her grip on the table loosens slightly as she follows your instructions. she winces with the pain but nods. âit hurts so muchâŚâ
âi know, but youâre strong,â you reply, your voice steady. âyouâre doing everything right. stay with me.â
the husband is still holding her hand, his own face tight with fear. âweâre going to be okay,â he mutters under his breath, trying to steady himself as much as heâs trying to steady his wife.
minutes pass, and the tension in the air is suffocating. the restaurant has gone silent, all eyes on the small drama unfolding in the corner. you glance toward the door, willing the paramedics to arrive. âthe paramedics are coming,â you murmur to the woman. âtheyâll be here soon. youâre doing great.â
another contraction hits, and she gasps in pain. the time feels like itâs moving slower now, the seconds stretching endlessly.
just then, the door bursts open, and sana rushes back in, the first aid kit in her hands. without missing a beat, she snaps on a pair of gloves, moving toward the woman with expert precision. you meet her gaze for a split second, and in that moment, everything falls into place. this is where you both excel - in these moments, when everything is on the line.
âcheck her cervix,â sana says, already preparing to assist. âwe need to know how far along she is.â
you grab the gloves from her, moving into position immediately. the woman winces as you gently check, and you nod, your voice steady. âsheâs two centimeters dilated. early labor, but still manageable for now.â
sana checks the womanâs vitals. âher pulse is stable for now, but these contractions are getting closer together. we need to keep her calm, and we need paramedics here fast.â
the husbandâs anxiety spikes again. âbut theyâre not here yet! i called them forever ago! where are they?â
âstay with her,â you say firmly, offering him reassurance. âthe paramedics will be here any second now. weâre doing everything we can. focus on your wife. she needs you now more than ever.â
as if on cue, the paramedics rush in, taking control immediately. one of them quickly kneels beside you, and you brief him on the situation. âsheâs preterm, two centimeters dilated, contractions coming every few minutes. weâve kept her stable, but she needs to be in a neonatal unit.â
the paramedics work quickly, moving with practiced efficiency. you glance at sana, and the briefest smile passes between you. together, youâve done what you can, and now itâs out of your hands.
as the woman is wheeled out, her husband still holding her hand, she looks up at you, her voice barely above a whisper. âthank you. thank you so much.â
you squeeze her hand gently. âyouâre going to be okay. weâve got you.â
as the paramedics disappear with the woman, you and sana stand in the quiet, watching them go. the weight of the situation lifts just a little as you turn to her.
âwell,â you say, your voice quieter now, âi think that was our adrenaline for the night.â
sana chuckles, a tired smile on her face. âi swear, you thrive on chaos.â
you shrug with a grin. âguess it comes with the job.â
but as the adrenaline fades, the exhaustion sets in. you take a deep breath and, with a quick glance at sana, you both rip the gloves off, tossing them into the nearby trash bin. you take a moment to catch your breath, before sitting back down at the table. the world is starting to slow, but you still feel the adrenaline coursing through you. the meal is cold, the wine forgotten, but it doesnât matter. you look at sana, and in her eyes, you find a quiet comfort.
âeven after all of that,â she says softly, âi wouldnât want to be anywhere else, or do this with anyone else.â
you smile, squeezing her hand across the table. âme neither. no matter what happens, weâve got this.â
and in that quiet moment, as the restaurant resumes its hum, you both find peace in the shared understanding that no matter the chaos, youâre always ready to face it - side by side.

âLewis, Next Doorâ~ pt 1 Lewis Hamilton x Reader
Warning: age gap, alcohol?
Summary: Coming home from university, Y/N expects a quiet reunion with familyâuntil she finds herself face-to-face with the enigmatic Lewis Hamilton, her dadâs famous neighbor and friend. What starts as a dull evening soon turns unexpectedly electric when Lewis offers more than just small talk.
I hadnât been home all semester. Between studying, late-night group projects, and the occasional breakdown, the past few months at uni had been⌠a lot. Iâd pushed through, and even though Iâd missed my parents, there was something about finishing this term that made me feel a little invincible. I was finally here, though, bags slung over my shoulder as I hugged my mom in the doorway and let my dad ruffle my hair in that way he always did.
Home sweet home.
After the greetings and settling in, I noticed someone else was around. Our neighbor, Lewis Hamilton, was back too. Usually, he was off racing, so it was a rare sight. I wasnât someone who followed F1 religiously, but I knew Lewis was a big dealâand the whole âdadâs friendâ thing only made it more surreal. The few times weâd run into each other, Iâd been struck by how effortlessly confident he was. Attractive? Absolutely. Intimidating? Without a doubt. But, honestly, Iâd never thought much beyond that. He was just Lewis, the neighbor.
That night, my dad was throwing a big party to celebrate his latest product launch. Fancy guests, fancy decorations, fancy everythingâthe whole nine yards. Iâd barely unpacked, and here I was, getting ready to play dress-up and smile politely for a parade of strangers. My friends were out clubbing tonight, living it up, and I couldnât help but feel a pang of envy. But I loved my dad, so here I was, hair styled, makeup on point, feeling like Iâd stepped into someone elseâs life for the night.
As the party got into full swing, I did my best to stay interested, though I kept glancing at my phone, imagining my friends dancing somewhere with loud music and neon lights. Instead, I was here, weaving through clusters of my dadâs colleagues. He was chatting with a group of important-looking men, so I took my chance and approached him, feeling like a little kid again as I asked, âCan I please just have one drink?â
He shot me a disapproving look. âNo. You know the answer.â
âFine,â I muttered, trying not to let my frustration show. I wandered around a bit, catching snippets of adult conversation that were all about business deals and tax write-offs. Glamorous.
Finally, I spotted a lonely champagne glass on a table. I glanced around, and with a little thrill of rebellion, I picked it up, taking a sip. It was cold and crisp, and even though Iâd never been a huge fan of champagne, it felt like a tiny slice of freedom. A few more sips, and I was actually starting to relax.
Thatâs when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned, and there he wasâLewis, giving me a knowing smile.
âI see you like my drink?â he teased, eyes glinting with amusement.
My stomach dropped. Oh god, Iâd taken his champagne? âOh my god. Iâm so sorry⌠I didnât know⌠I can get you a new one if you want, I justââ
He chuckled, shaking his head. His laugh was low and warm, and something about it made me relax, just a bit. âNah, Iâm messing with you. Itâs fine. I donât even really drink anyways.â He grinned, flashing a glimpse of a gold grill that made him look both mischievous and effortless, a vibe that seemed distinctly Lewis.
I managed a shy nod, suddenly unsure of what to do with my hands. âOh⌠good. Thanks.â I couldnât believe I was so nervous. But he just kept looking at me, his gaze both curious and relaxed.
He leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. âYou bored? Iâm so bored. No offense to your dad, of course.â
I let out a laugh, surprised at how blunt he was. âItâs boring,â I admitted, feeling a little guilty, but somehow knowing he understood. He had this whole wild, glamorous life, and a party like this was probably as dull as watching paint dry for him.
âSo, what? Youâre back from uni, huh? Thatâs crazy. I remember when you were like, ten,â he says, a teasing smile playing on his lips.
I feel my cheeks heat up with a pang of embarrassment. Here I was, feeling all cool and grown up, and he still saw me as a kid. Great.
âYep,â I reply, trying to keep my tone light but failing to hide the faint annoyance.
âWell, youâre better than me,â he shrugs. âI never finished school.â I glance at him, surprised heâs trying to keep this conversation going. Usually, we barely exchanged two words, and now, here we were, alone, talking like⌠friends? Something more? I didnât know.
âWell⌠yeah, but youâre a millionaire,â I say, trying to sound casual, though thereâs a little hint of playfulness in my voice. Iâm not exactly flirting, but maybe a little. Just testing the waters.
He raises an eyebrow, smiling at me but seeming almost uncomfortable at the mention of his money. He shrugs again. âYouâre not exactly struggling either,â he teases back.
Was⌠that a flirt? Or was I just imagining it? Itâs just the way he said it, the way his gaze lingers a moment longer than it should. My pulse quickens, but I try to play it cool.
âNo⌠not exactly,â I say, catching his hint and matching his tone. I glance around, making a point about how dull this party is. âJust right now.â
He chuckles, and thereâs a mischievous glint in his eyes. âMaybe next time, you come to one of my parties,â he says. It sounds more like a command than an invitation, like heâs decided Iâll be there.
I nod softly, trying to hide the thrill in my expression. Heâs really inviting me? He seems amused, almost as if my reaction is endearing.
âYeah, maybe,â I say with a slight shrug, finishing off the champagne. I feel his eyes on me, and when I look up, heâs studying me, like heâs considering something.
Then he breaks into a grin. âI could give you my number,â he says, casual but direct.
I raise an eyebrow, trying to mask the excitement bubbling up. âOh?â
âSo you can tell me next time youâre bored,â he adds, giving me a cheeky wink.
I feel my cheeks flush as I pull out my phone. He takes it from me, putting his number in. My hands are shaking just a bit when he hands it back.
âThere,â he says with that familiar grin. âNow youâll be set.â
âCool. Thanks,â I say, somehow managing to keep my voice steady. Inside, though, I feel my heart racing.
He glances back at the party, then back at me, giving me one last wink. âI should probably go talk to your dad. See you around, Y/N.â
And then heâs gone, leaving me standing there, still holding the empty champagne glass, my mind spinning. His number. His number. A part of me feels like Iâm floating.
âââââââââââ

A new ladder - Reader x Curly
Previous - Part 2 - Next
"Those were the words of the former captain of the Tulpar ship, owned by Pony Express, Grant Curly, who miraculously was the only survivor even in his condition after going through a series of murders on the ship, completely vulnerable, by the same person who caused the crash, his co-pilot Jimmy-"
You turned off the television while they were broadcasting Curly's testimony on all channels.
"I'll go buy a few things" you mentioned, getting up from your seat and putting on a jacket to go out. "Wanna come with me?"
Curly turned to look at you curiously, thinking you were going to leave him there on his own until you returned, or that you would take him without asking to keep him close.
Curly: "Please"
He sighed and you took his chair to start pushing him to the store.
They could notice the looks of the people passing by, all recognizing the man, but none able to approach him to ask a question.
"Do you like peas? Lin told me that you could eat without any problem as long as your pieces are small."Â
Curly: "I have no problem with the food... I just don't like sweets."
"Okay"
You nodded, adding things to the cart, checking the prices, and thinking about what you could cook.
He stood gazing into the distance at the chocolate aisle, remembering the boxes of chocolates he used to buy for Linda, sighing at the thought that those days were in the past.
He found it strange to think that she was already over 50, while he remained at the age of 34, now being cared for by the younger sister of the woman who had once been his fiancĂŠe, who must now be around 32.
Curly: "Your birthday... It was a few months ago, right? I remember Linda used to say that she liked spring because it was when you were born."
"...No, my birthday hasn't happened yet, there's still some time left. But I don't really celebrate it, I just treat myself and that's it."
You shrugged even while looking at the products on the shelves.
Having everything you needed, you went to the cash registers to pay. The woman had seen Curly on television and gave him a discount as if he were some kind of veteran or senior.
That didn't please the man very much.
You stopped halfway back to his home, the streets were no longer so busy, after all, you had left a bit late after all.
"Would you like to feel something different?"
You asked him while firmly holding the wheelchair, there was a slight slope on that street, the man immediately turned to look at you, you looked excited to do something, like a child about to pull a prank.
Curly: "Sure?..." he said without being very convinced
And he let out a scream when you climbed onto the chair's wheel tubes and let the slope of the street make you go down, he could only hear a mix of his screams and your laughter as you went down.
He feared crashing into something or flying off, he didn't want to experience more pain, but the chair kept moving even after the descent was over. Curly was grateful for the good quality of the chair, and that it didn't fall apart when you got on it too. He was able to breathe easy when they stopped after a few seconds.
"And we arrived! Much faster, right?"
You patted his shoulder, ready to get off and push him inside the house, the man could feel the rapid beating of his heart at that moment.
Curly: "Do you do things like this often?" he asked, trying to have a conversation to calm down.
"Didn't you feel more alive?"
He fell silent as he thought about your question, while they descended, the only thing he could feel was his heart racing, the wind on his face, and he heard your laughter close to him, but at no moment was there sadness, remorse, or any of those emotions he constantly felt.
Just adrenaline.
Curly: "You could say that... yes..."
You put the groceries in their place and left out only what you were going to use, you ended up making some fried rice with chicken, egg, onion, and peas.
You could see how the man struggled to use his prosthesis to hold his utensils and eat, everything falling onto the table several times.
You moved your chair closer to him, making him look at you.
"Do you want to keep trying or would you prefer that I help you?"
Curly: "I give up for today..." was his only response, sighing.
You took food on your fork and brought it to his face, he opened his mouth and finally managed to take a bite, enjoying the taste of that simple food, he had missed homemade meals after so much time eating the provisions on the ship and then the bland hospital food.
"And? How is it?"
Curly: "Delicious," he replied, opening his mouth, hoping you would give him more.
You couldn't help but compare it to a baby bird begging for food, but you held back your laughter to keep feeding it.
Curly: "Mm.. So, when is your birthday?"
It was a very bad idea to talk to his implant while eating, causing him to start coughing as he choked on the food.Â
"Well... It's exactly in 5 weeks," you smiled, making him raise his arms and you patted his back.
He was surprised at how quickly he was able to stop coughing when you did that, you immediately handed him a glass of water.
"I'll be right back, I'm going to get a cloth to clean the food scraps off the table."
You mentioned standing up to go to the kitchen.
While you were away, he kept trying to eat on his own, managing to get a small amount of rice on his fork and being able to eat that.
While he chewed, he kept watching out the window; that orange and reddish color appearing in the trees was tinting the whole place.
Her birthday... It's in autumn...

The Hellfire Exotic Club Part 11
Welp.
Fuck.
Good news for you guys, bad new for me. I accidentally labeled two chapters as Chapter 12. There AREN'T thirteen chapters. There are FOURTEEN.
So I'll figure out when to post the extra chapter. But in the meantime:
Enjoy Eddie giving the denouement. Like that's it. That's whole chapter.
Part 1Â Part 2Â Part 3 Part 4 Part 5Â Part 6Â Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11
~
Eddie called everyone into the club. Billy Hargrove, Heather Holloway, Nancy Wheeler, Jason Carver, Wayne and all his crew. The only one that wasnât there was his ace in the hole.
âThank you all for coming,â Eddie said, sitting on the edge of the stage while everyone sat around in the tables.
Hilariously Nancy and Jason sat as far apart from Billy as possible. What was even more hilarious was that Billy, Stella, and Heather formed a weird triangle trying to keep their distance without looking like it was deliberate.
âJust so everyone is aware,â he said with a grin. âEverything is be recorded, audio and visual.â He pointed to the cameras.
Nancy frowned, but merely crossed her arms and said nothing.
âThese past couple of months have been the hardest the club has ever faced,â he began, âin all its history of being opened. And everyone just kept telling me it was bad luck. That bad news comes in waves and that we would ride this out same as always. But it all felt so contrived and I could not figure out why.â
âThe absolute arrogance!â Jason huffed. âThinking you know better than God!â
âOh honey,â Eddie purred. âIâd have to believe in him to think that. Which I donât, so shut it. â
Jason grumbled, but wisely settled down.
âEveryone also seemed to think this all started with the arrival of Steve,â he said, causing Steve to flush in embarrassment. âBut Steve only got hired because I needed a new Envy.â
âWhich I still think is bullshit,â Billy huffed. âWhat I do off the clock is none of your God damned business.â
Eddie shrugged. âAnd normally I would agree with you, Billy but you add in it was the mayorâs daughter and I wasnât going to court legal trouble. But somehow I did anyway. So why?â
Everyone looked around at each other, trying to suss out who was to blame.
âYou see I was missing a piece of the puzzle,â Eddie said, leaping off the stage to his feet. âAnd hooboy, did I get it when I talked to Jonathan Byers.â
Nancyâs head shot up, her jaw slack and her eyes wide. âI donât have to sit here and listen to this gibberish.â She got to her feet and grabbed her purse.
âWhatâs matter, Nancy?â Steve said, sidling up Eddie. âDonât you want to hear how Eddie figured out your scheme?â
Her head snapped around. âThere is no scheme itâs all in the deluded mind of the this deranged individual. I will not be part of this.â
âYouâre fianceĂŠ will probably get arrested,â Eddie said with a half shrug. âFor her part in the scheme.â
Nancy turned around slowly. âIâm dating Jonathan. You just said my fianceĂŠ was female. A her.â
Jonathan came out from backstage. âThatâs right, Iâve been the other man for years. But it was okay with Heather because she got off on cuckolding with other men, too.â
Everyone gasped as they turned to look at Heather.
âI donât know what youâre talking about,â she huffed, examining her nails.
âYou see,â Eddie said, âit always struck me as odd that she would still have a fiancĂŠ after being caught with Billy. But there was never any indication that they had broken up. But when Jonathan had told me about the photography studio I got it. Steve wasnât supposed have been involved at all. It was an accident and one that sent Nancy scrambling.â
He started walking around the room pointing out all the players. âBilly got played as much as Jonathan did. Iâm not sure how Nancy got to Stella, but Stella was supposed to target whoever it was that I hired to replace Billy.â
âFor all your talk of equals,â Stella spat, âthe men still out numbered us women two to one. All she had to do was ask, though she paid me too. I didnât realize that she was planned on shutting the place down. I thought she was trying to get you to sell it.â
âThen go to a different strip joint,â Eddie said rolling his eyes. âOh wait... itâs because I actually pay my strippers. Do you really think that the new owners would be as generous?â
She gave little half shrug with a moue. âIt would have been if I bought it.â
Everyone gasped again.
âGo to hell, Stella,â Bakir hissed. Bakir was an immigrant and his English wasnât very good. âWould be horrible boss.â
âFucking hell,â Scott agreed. âIâd take Eddie over anyone willing to hurt people for money.â
Danny raised her hand. âWhich brings up an interesting point, what does Nancy get out of this?â
Eddie grinned and snapped his fingers at her. âI was thinking the same thing. What does Nancy Wheeler get out of shutting down these businesses? And the answer is a world-wide exclusive to the story. I think she got this high off getting the lab shut down when she was in high school that she had to keep chasing. That same high serial killers get.â
âSo what did start all this?â Steve asked from the table he shared with Scott and Robin.
âJason Carver,â Eddie said smugly. âWhen Chrissy broke up with him, he became enraged. He had known that Nancy had done exposĂŠs before and brought her to one of the Sin nights. She didnât agree to it until she heard that it was one of the places Jonathan cleaned on occasion.â
Jasonâs head whipped around to face her. âThis wasnât enough on its own?â he huffed waving wildly at the poles on the stage.
âNo,â Eddie said shaking his head with a huff. âShe had to control Jonathan because if he got wind of her schemes he would leave her for good.â
âDamn right,â Jonathan snarled. âAnd this is me breaking up with you Nancy.â
âYou donât know what you are doing Jonathan,â Nancy purred. âIâm trying to save your soul. Or I could tell Mommy all about how you took pictures of me while I was undressing. A sweet, underaged girl.â She batted her eyelashes at him.
Jonathan began laughing. âThat? Thatâs what youâve been holding over my head all this time? I told my mom about that when I got into a fight with your then boyfriend and the cops got called. Fuck you.â
She snapped her mouth shut and glared at him. Her hold on him well and truly gone.
âBack to the scheme,â Eddie said landing at Heatherâs table. âThe first thing she did was find out the weak parts of my operation. She must have overheard me telling Jeff, that a political scandal would be grounds for instant termination.â
Nancy shrugged. âThat alleyway is so easy to hide in, you really should get that checked.â She winked at him.
âThen she deployed her fianceĂŠ,â Eddie continued clicking his tongue against his teeth, âto find an easy mark to get into bed with. Immediately she zeroed in on Billy. Loud, obnoxious, and egotistical. He was perfect.â
âFuck you,â Billy huffed. âNo one made me do anything!â
Eddie chuckled. âToo easy, honestly. Itâs honestly the one fault I find in your plan, you could have chosen someone a little more difficult.â He held up his thumb and forefinger close together.
âBut I digress.â He held up his hands. âBilly would get caught with Heather, by Nancy, a part left out the papers because she has friends in high places in those publications.â
Again Nancy looked smug.
âYou wonât be so smug when Eddie gets through with you,â Steve said shaking his head. âWhere are your denials now?â
âWhy deny any of it?â she asked with a laugh. âHeâs painting me to be some evil genius, thatâs quite the accomplishment.â
âDonât worry, Iâm just getting started,â Eddie assured her, walking over to where Stella sat with Danny and Levi. âThis is where she tripped up. Stella was supposed to keep escalating the attacks on the new dancer until they got seriously hurt or they quit. Only they werenât counting on Steve. Steve whom, if Nancy let get hurt like that would seriously damage her reputation. So tried everything she could to dislodge him herself. But Steve was already entrenched into the clubâs culture. So she had to show her hand early so that Stella would be forced to stop the attacks against him.â
âI knew it was a risk,â Nancy admitted with a shrug. âI thought I could appeal to his better nature and our friendship, but he likes stripping.â
Steve laughed. âHell yeah, I do. Itâs good money and better company.â
Nancy rolled her eyes.
âBut then it really unraveled,â Eddie said with a grin, âwhen Jonathan spotted Steve coming out of the dressing room after his lap dance and asked for help. He wanted to know Steve knew of any place that would be willing to take him on full time.â
âWhen I found out she was willing to help Steve get a job,â Jonathan spat, âbut was constantly undermining my ability to even hold a job, I was willing to take anything Steve could help me get so I could get out from under her thumb.â
âThen I met with him,â he continued. âI found him to be genuine and hardworking. His foreman spoke highly of him and all I needed to know was what position he would take. So everyone I would you like you to meet Jonathan Byers, the new chefâs assistant under Monty.â
All the crew of Hellfire clapped except Stella, Levi and Danny.
âAnd I would like to introduce you to our three new dancers,â Eddie finished with a wink. âMicaella Dimitriou, Kyle White, and Mason Clark. After all Levi, Danny, and Stella are under arrest now.â
âWhat?!â Danny squawked, leaping to her feet as cops swarmed the club.
Immediately Heather started crying about how she was tricked into all this and how much of a victim she was. All while Nancy screamed about how much of a bitch she was and how she never loved her.
In the end, Jason, Heather, Nancy, Stella, Levi, and Danny were all carted away for varying offenses.
Eddie dusted his hands off. âRight now that garbage has been cleaned out, I am announcing that we are closing the club for two weââ
A roar of outrage erupted from the rest of the crew.
He held up his hands. âJust for two weeks and youâll get paid based on the average from last year. We are going to be doing some remodeling and it will allow the new dancers time learn their roles.â
There was some murmuring, but that was fair enough.
âMicaella will be in Megera,â Eddie said, âthe Fury of ancient Greece. Mason as Set, the Egyptian god of chaos, and Kyle as Kimaris, marquis of hell.â
That got a lot more cheers and excitement.
âMegera will be taking over as Wrath,â Eddie said. âBut this time I did give anyone the chance the audition for it.â
Scott snickered. âI still donât know how you kept it from those three, it was brilliant seeing their shocked Pikachu faces.â
âOh!â Eddie said with a shy smile. âThat was easy. I didnât tell anyone it was to replace them except for a couple of close confidants.â He shrugged. âI even had them come in, told them it was for a new routine.â
Gareth raised his hand. âHe didnât tell me. Probably because I would have blabbed it all over the place.â
âHe didnât tell me either,â Chrissy said, âI think he wanted me to have plausible deniability if Stella came after me. Which she had shown in the past she was willing to do.â
âRight in one,â Eddie said snapping his fingers at her with a fond smile. âI only told Wayne, Steve, and Scott.â
Jonathan tilted his head to the side. âWhy those three?â
Eddie started counting off on his fingers. âWayne and Scott because they were going to be helping me hire. And Steve because he figured it out on his own. Didnât you, beautiful?â
âThe dance he was having us learn was very...â Steve said with a blush, âangry?â He snapped his fingers. âFierce! Thatâs the word. I also knew that Billy had be conspiring with Stella, so I figured that Eddie was going to replace her.â
âFair enough,â Chrissy said. âSo what are all the changes that are being made?â
Eddie launched into getting new tables and chairs, a new stage, a better sound equipment and eventually a new wing, but that would take longer than the two weeks he was willing to be closed. He explained that they would continue to work at night, while the construction crew worked during the day.
âThen to celebrate the new opening,â he said, âweâll finally do the fairy tale night!â
Then the cheer really did go up. They had been wanting to do that for ages. They had their costumes and had the dances down, but first Chrissy hurt her ankle and then this shit came up and it was past time for them to do it.
Eddie giggled. âIs this why detectives do this shit? Because holy hell was that a rush!â

[đENG TRANSLATION] Bojan CvjetiÄanin: We miss our family members the most (Suzy)
Original article written by TomaĹž MiheliÄ for Slovenske novice on 08.11.2024, PHOTO: Vita Orehek, Mediaspeed. English translation by a member of JokerOutSubs, review by @kurooscoffee, proofread by IG Gboleyn123
Already living the dream of every rocker in your early twenties is unimaginable to most. But not for Joker Out.
Full article under the cut đ
Bojan is very attached to his mum. (ph: Mediaspeed)
08.11.2024 at 06:00
Upon release of their newest album, we spoke with the singer and songwriter, who told us how radically their lives have changed in the past year, revealed the pitfalls of fame and told us why there aren't many reasons to be optimistic. We also found out who the boys miss the most when they are away from home for months at a time.
âIn the last year and a half, we have already completed five tours in Slovenia and Europe. We are slowly heading towards the next one. I have to admit, itâs an incredible feeling when you make your childhood dreams come true,â a good humoured Bojan starts the conversation. âIt seems like science fiction to us and we still havenât quite managed to get used to these previously unknown dimensions. It takes our breath away, when we arrive somewhere new, in a different country, and the crowds collectively sing in Slovene for an hour and a half,â he tries to describe his impressions.
The most precious moments are those with family. Apart from sister Tijana and mother, paediatrician Dr. SneĹžana CvjetiÄanin, the only one missing in the photo is the father, senior doctor Branko CvjetiÄanin. (ph: Mediaspeed)
âWe are marching quickly towards an inevitable doom. Why false optimism, when we see innocent children being slaughtered while those responsible turn a blind eye?"
As brothers
He says it's hard to get used to them not being home. It is a special strange feeling, not only for them, but also for the fans who are preparing for their performance in good faith and are dutifully learning this foreign language theyâve never heard before. âMaintaining close contact with our fans requires an enormous amount of energy, but they give it back to us in abundance, so there is pure love flowing between us. We've had our share of challenges, especially among ourselves, because we spend a lot of time together with the boys. It is no longer a friendly or business relationship, but a kind of partnership. Maybe it's more appropriate if I say that we are like brothers," outlines the close ties between the five musicians.
âThe moods flow from very beautiful to friction, frustrations, creative holes and successes. There are ups and downs and you have to be able to navigate between them. In principle, we have not allowed our ego to take the lead. If you process and filter your concerns on the fly, they are easier to control. At the same time, we have producer Ĺ˝are Pak with us as a kind of psychotherapist. An immense help to us are also genuine relationships with colleagues from the industry, as we learn and resolve many things through conversations with them. Sometimes you even inadvertently get some useful advice,â he smiles.
âIt's really bizarre that we sell out halls like that and the best 'tourbus' you can afford is waiting for us in the car park. We hired it with our own money and our own achievements.â
When you donât feel at home at home
It's a great achievement to be able to make a living from music these days. Let alone that you manage to do it while you're still studying. Joker Out are the exception, not the rule. But every triumph carries consequences, especially in enormous emotional ranges. From the euphoria, when thousands of people are screaming in front of you, to the emptiness that occurs backstage or in a hotel room. âWhat confused me the most was the feeling that at home, I no longer felt homely anymore because we had been abroad for so long. I was really lost, that's when my parents and sister came to my aid. We are a very close family, we talk openly about everything and these relationships save lives. Mother's food and advice, father's wisdom, Tijana's sincere hugs have healing power,â he says gratefully.
The author of all of the lyrics and the first voice of the band is happy to have a genuine brotherly relationship with the boys. (ph: Vita Orehek)
Having never travelled much before, he wasn't used to spending weeks away from the safety of home. âThe circumstances of literally living out of a suitcase for a year and a half turned everything upside down. When I returned to Slovenia, it seemed strange to me that I had to get used to the fact that we wouldn't be going on the road for a while. I had to give it time. A few laps around Ljubljana and the proximity of best friends was enough for everything to fall back into place.â
Following the paths of world legends
He can be relieved that he is not subject to the various temptations that characterise extreme emotional fluctuations. On the one hand, fame and public expectations, on the other, inner struggles and the desire for privacy. âIt seems to me that it is all a result of upbringing. My parents instilled in me the right amount of self-confidence, a healthy self-image and trust in myself and those closest to me. This is the foundation for solving any problem. Once I got rid of the panic attacks on stage, I found contact with my old self. Switching between private and crazy stage dynamics has fortunately never been a problem for me,â he says honestly. For the lay public, it is good to point out that Joker Out performs at iconic venues in European capitals.
They drive around in the grand buses we see in the movies, but for them it's all reality. âAnd none of this has changed us to the point of rising above the others. We still keep our essence: authenticity is the most valuable. A few times we've had to literally pinch ourselves when we've arrived at some legendary club where bands like the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and the like once played, and now we're standing on that stage. Before the concert, we got our hands on a book with the signatures of the performers and could hardly believe that our name would now be among them. It's really bizarre that we sell out a venue like this and the best 'tourbus' you can afford is waiting for us in the car park. We rented it with our own money and our own achievements,â marvels CvjetiÄanin. As a result of the aforementioned panic attacks, he has not been able to truly appreciate all that he has received, and during a retrospective of the last period, he points out: âEven as children, we did not dare to imagine that one day we would experience all this.â
Nothing fell from the sky
And how do they keep from being blinded by all the glamour? âIn reality, there is no luxury at all. We don't have luxury cars and villas waiting for us at home. We are not treated to economic excess. We still go home to the same people. I am sure that none of us is predisposed to become a total jerk if he had a euro more in his bank account. We are by nature very diligent and hard-working. We do get lucky sometimes and things work out in our favour, but that would not be the case if we were bored and waiting for something to fall out of the sky. We have always strived for success and we are proud of the results we have achieved so far. Now we have to find a common sense limit as to when we are satisfied. When we can say to ourselves that we are happy with what we have and not endlessly strive for more. What makes me happy is creating, making music, hanging out with quality people, good food, getting a good nightâs sleep, which I manage to catch despite my busy schedule,â he winks mischievously, before we focus on his love. Song writing. Some authors are constantly under pressure to produce a hit.
Joker Out uses music to draw attention to current issues in our society. (ph: PrimoĹž LukeĹžiÄ)
Is he one of them? âNo way! I don't make music to please other people, it has to vibrate for me first. There is no such thing as a good song. It's subjective to taste. You can talk about pressure when you have to finish an album. There are time constraints and a vision of how we want to present ourselves as a band. Here, we are faced with chasing compromises and healthy, middle ground to make sure everyone is happy with the product. Time is the biggest enemy of all creatives. Especially those who have a project in mind. There's always too little of it,â he says.
Why false optimism?!
Joker Out's songs carry important messages. They will not give up this principle. Although, for the first time ever, we will see a little pessimism on the new album. âInspiration comes from all sides and the theme is self-confessional. It's not hard to find inspiration to write nowadays. We live in terribly 'messed up', hypocritical times, where something is happening on every front. I am a sentient being and the horrors in the world touch me quite a bit. We also deal with such topics. There are so many injustices happening globally every day that deserve a voice, but people generally only stand up for those that they feel are important enough. When human rights are clearly violated, we as a band feel compelled to express our opinion. But we don't always do so, because it is impossible, because for every war there are hundreds of others that we as a society simply overlook. We are silent,â he digs at the wound of modern civilisation.
âIt takes our breath away when we arrive somewhere new, in another country, and the crowds collectively sing in Slovenian for an hour and a half.â
And what shocks, angers, saddens him the most? âThat there are no rules and you can do whatever you want if you have enough power or capital. That everything is allowed and applauded, no matter how bloody it is. The legal world, the rule of law, organisations of any kind are plain bullshit, because the chosen elites do not have to abide by any lawsâ, he is blunt and horrified that new generations have to bear the consequences of greed. âWe have come so far as a community that it affects creativity. With one song, for the first time, I went into complete pessimism, with no turn to positivity. It's a story in which I express fear and distrust that things could be better. We are marching fast towards the inevitable doom. Why the false optimism when we are witnessing live the slaughter of innocent children while those responsible turn a blind eye?â he criticises, before falling silent for a few moments.
Finally, however, he turns to the light, to the forthcoming showcase concert tour.
âWe have a lot of rehearsals ahead of us to make sure the songs are familiar under our fingers. We won't have any special fitness training, although some amount of recreation canât hurt. We don't have any altitude training though, as if we were going to the World Championships,â he laughs and promises to bring back some souvenirs from the trip. âPreferably our Souvenir Pop,â he hints at the title of their album, which will be available from the 15th of November.
âWe're still going back home to the same people, and I'm sure none of us is predisposed to become a total jerk if he had a euro more in his bank account.â

It was a "small" act.
But, at the time, she didnât realize she was making a life-changing, and life-saving decision, not only for her but for hundreds of Polish Jews during the Second World War, helping save them from Nazi execution.
Only when she died, on April 8, 2022, at the age of 107 did the rest of the world learn of her courage.
She was born Carmen Koppel in Vienna, daughter of Frieda and Emil Koppel. Her father, an opera-loving grain merchant, chose her name after Bizetâs Carmen,â according to The Guardian, âShe studied languages at the University of Vienna, taking shorthand to help with her note-taking.â
She said âMy mother had insisted that I learn something useful, so I learnt to type.â
âIn 1936 she married Josef Weitmann, who owned a curtain-making business in KrakĂłw, and the couple settled there and had a son, Sascha.
âAfter the German occupation of Poland in 1939, the administration wanted to re-establish KrakĂłw as Krakau, a German city. As Jews, [she] and her husband were forced to live in the KrakĂłw ghetto, established by the Nazis in 1940. Its inhabitants were allowed to leave and return only with special permits. Josef was killed while trying to escape; Sascha was smuggled to relatives in Hungary.â
According to the New York Times, âin late 1944, as a slave laborer in the administrative offices of the Plaszow concentration camp in Poland, [she] typed an important version of the manifest of prisoners bound for [a] munitions factory in the area of the Czech Republic then known as the Sudetenland.â
âIt was in those officesâ that she also added her name and the names of two friends to the list, indicating her profession as âschreibkraft,â according to writer Alex Mindlin.
By typing that list, she almost certainly saved her own life, the lives of her friends, and many others, according to Mindlin.
That âlistâ âsaved them from the gas chambers of Auschwitz, where most of the other Jews from Plaszow were deported,â according to The Teller Report.
Years later after the war, she would meet again the man who had made that list possible, the man who employed her.
She had a different last name by this time, but he still remembered her by her nickname. [She never liked the name âCarmenâ, so close friends referred to her after a character in âLa Bohèmeâ.]
'It must have been around 1953,â she said. âI had gone to Vienna and I was walking along a street with an uncle. We were passing a coffee house where there was a group of people sitting. This large man ran across and hugged and started kissing me, saying: âMimi, MimiâŚâ
âIt was then that I realised that it was Schindler sitting with some of the Jews he had rescued.â
âThe documents that [Mimi Reinhardt] worked on were made famous by Thomas Keneallyâs 1982 novel . . . and by the 1993 Steven Spielberg movie ["Schindler's List"], both of which detailed the extraordinary lengths to which [Oskar] Schindler went to save the lives of some 1,200 of his Jewish workers,â according to the Times.
Other sources cite the number of lives saved even higher. According to AFP (Agence France-Presse) and The Times of Israel, âThe lists which Reinhardt compiled for [Schindler] helped save the lives of some 1,300 Jews at considerable risk to his own life.â
âAustrian-born Reinhardt (sometimes spelled âReinhard), herself a Jew, was recruited by Schindler himself and worked for him until 1945.â
This is a new story for the Jon S. Randal Peace Page. The Peace Page focuses on past and present stories seldom told of lives forgotten, ignored, or dismissed. The stories are gathered from writers, journalists, and historians to share awareness and foster understanding, to bring people together. And, as such, the stories are never relegated to one single month - they are available all year in the Peace Page archives and on this page each week throughout the year. We encourage you to learn more about the individuals and events mentioned here and to support the writers, educators, and historians whose words we present. Thank you for being here and helping us share awareness.
~~~~~
Reinhardt, then known as Carmen Koppel, âsurvived the final liquidation of the KrakĂłw ghetto in March 1943, when 2,000 Jews were slaughtered, because the Nazis deemed her language and secretarial skills useful,â according to The Guardian.
At the time, the Red Army was approaching Poland and workers in Plaszow were being sent west to death camps,â according to The New York Times.
Reinhardt was a âprisoner at a concentration camp near Krakow, Poland during WWII in 1944,â according to the World Jewish Congress, when Schindler recruited her for a job in the camp's administrative office.
âSchindler and his Jewish accountant Itzhak Stern, who had helped to motivate Schindler, prepared the 'list' of essential workers - all of them Jews - for relocation to his new factory,' according to writer Peter Beaumont.
As Schindlerâs secretary, Reinhardt âdrew up the lists of Jewish workers in the Polish city of Krakow to work in the factory of her German industrialist bossâ, according to writer Caroline Frost.
âThis was a highly risky enterprise but is estimated to have saved . . . [the] workers from deportation and almost certain death in Nazi concentration camps.â
Reinhardt also âadded the names of friends and her own married names until Schindler's quota negotiated with the SS was fulfilled: "Weitmann, Carmen, January 15, 1915, typist" is number 279 on the list.
âThe rescue almost went awryâ according to The Teller Report.
âOn the way to BrĂźnnlitz in 1944, the train carrying Schindlerâs workers was diverted to Auschwitz,â according to The Guardian. âDeath seemed inevitable. But Schindler used his military intelligence contacts to stop the diversion, claiming that these workers were vital for his armaments factory.â
âThey had to stay in Auschwitz for two weeks,â according to The Teller Report.
âMimi Reinhardt later compared the time to Dante's âInfernoâ.â
âAt the warâs end, [Schindlerâs] workers were liberated, and Mimi was reunited with Sascha.â
Reinhardt âsettled for a time in Morocco and then New York, where she lived for 50 years,â according to The Guardian. âShe kept in touch with other âSchindler Jewsâ whose lives had been saved by escaping the PlaszĂłw camp under Schindlerâs protection, but did not speak publicly about her earlier life until she moved to Israel in 2007.â
In Israel, she joined âher only son, Sacha Weitman, who was then a professor of sociology at Tel Aviv University,â according to The Times of Israel.
Schindler died in 1974, when he âwas named by Israelâs Yad Vashem Holocaust museum as a member of the âRighteous Among the Nationsâ, an honour for non-Jews who tried to save Jews from Nazi extermination,â according to Frost. âHe is buried on the Mount of Olives just outside Jerusalem.â
The story of Reinhardtâs âsmall actâ came to light when she was being interviewed by the Jewish Agency for Israel. (Note, âReinhardt wasnât directly portrayed in the Schindlerâs List film,â according to News18.)
Reinhardt âexpressed regret that Mr. Schindler, whom she adored, did not become a household name until after his death in 1974,â wrote Mindlin.
âHe would have loved it, the attention,â she said.
She added in another interview, "I saw a man who was constantly risking his life for what he was doing. He was human. He must have had a heart of gold."
Reinhardt spent her last years at a nursing home north of Tel Aviv.
She is âmourned by her son and his family, as well as the thousands of people whose parents and grandparents she helped escape certain death,â according to the Jerusalem Post.
She has three granddaughters, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In the image attached, Sasha Weitman, son of Mimi Reinhardt, holds an old photograph of his mother in Herzliya, Israel, (AP Photo/Ariel Schalit).
Of her contribution to history and assisting Schindler in saving hundreds of her fellow Jews, Reinhardt said, âI was just typing the list.â
I'm going to get myself an onslaught of pushback that I in no way have time to deal with this week for making the points I'm about to make, but here goes. (I also may learn some new information from some of you, which would be good.)
Argumate's point, as a conditional statement, is 100% correct. I would also say the various Republican proposals of the past three years are, in my opinion, varying levels of reprehensible and idiotic in how poorly they're defined/enforceable. But, unless there are specific ideas on the table that for some reason I haven't heard of despite being on Tumblr and progressive social media bubbles all this time, the implication that Republicans are attacking the right to present as one pleases and choose one's name, even the right of adults to choose to medically transition, is suspect. And distorting that side's political behavior seems counterproductive.
Everything, first of all, seems to revolve around "protecting" the children rather than restricting the rights of adults.
There's clearly been a push to ban drag shows -- that is, a certain kind of performance art based around people cross-dressing (often in a sexualized way) in places where children could be exposed to it: schools, it seems sometimes public areas as well. This seems to have arisen in direct response to a quite novel trend of schools going out of their ways to show children this art when schools re-opened after COVID, not as a direct backtracking of civil rights that they were okay with ten years ago (even if in effect it is a sort of walking back of rights). For the record, I think banning drag shows in public sucks, and if I had my own kid, I would want them to be exposed to a "drag queen story hour" or two in school. But what has been happening there is a far cry from disallowing people from going about their own business cross-dressing or otherwise presenting as a given gender.
Where changing names is concerned, I can only imagine posts above this are alluding to Ted Cruz's proposal to make it impossible to fire someone for deadnaming or using a pronoun different from the referent's biological sex. (The naming thing would depend on the person's legal name; of course if they transitioned and changed their name legally -- which I realize may present its own slowness and difficulties -- there would presumably be no problem.) This seems like one of the weirder, harder-to-enforce hypothetical laws (how would one even prove that someone's pronoun doesn't correspond to their genitalia??), but it's one of those People Resent Being Forced To Utter Things They Feel Are Lies issues in the form of protecting someone from being fired for not making those utterances. I don't support it and hope it never becomes law, but characterizing it as "losing one's right to choose one's name" seems disingenuous.
Banning transition surgery and other medicine is clearly a huge thing right now but completely restricted to minors -- I think the closest I've heard to proposals for banning it for adults is (1) stretching the concept of "minor" here to age 25 due to questionable "mature brain" ideas, and (2) some bill in Missouri requiring six months of therapy before getting the go-ahead for medical treatment. It seems not unreasonable to imagine that if Republicans manage to get enough bans through for minors (by far the lower-hanging fruit, by far more popular among Americans) and are feeling sufficiently confident while running rampant, some will try to ban stuff for adults too, and there's the whole issue of which forms of gender medicine get provided by insurance and so on. I totally get a trans adult not being willing to live in a red state. At present the issue seems to be for minors, though, and again, while a rollback (one that was already happening in most of Europe I believe), it's mainly in response to something -- namely, an abrupt spike by more than an order of magnitude in minors seeking gender medicine.
I don't call for moderate stances on these issues but for some care and moderation on how we characterize them, especially at a moment when trans people are upending their lives to flee the country. I don't see how we're going to get out of this culture war mess with trans issues without engaging with what each side is actually doing (obviously I've believed the same about every type of current issue but this one has gotten especially out of control).
The state of gay rights in the early aughts was not good; criminal penalties for homosexuality were rarely enforced but were on the books in many places, there was no right to marriage, and the morality of homosexuality was hotly contested in public. Big culture war issue. In that environment, where substantive protections were lacking, Democrats could be tepid on gay rights without actively giving anything upâif, like Obama in 2008, you didnât support gay marriage, you could still be seen (correctly) as advocating for an overall better situation for gay people, or at least one that was no worse, in contrast to your right wing opponents.
Trans rights are not in the same position. Before the big trans rights backlash started, access to gender affirming care was pretty widespread, was everywhere legal, and was a matter for private concern only. Trans people could play in school sports subject to whatever their leagueâs rules were, and the idea of trying to make it illegal to cross dress in public was absurd. The conservative position since has become one of an explicit rollback of rights: revoke access to gender affirming care, create new criminal sanctions to punish trans people, make it illegal for them to participate in school sports, etc.
In that environment, tacking to the right on trans issues means deciding which elements of trans rights you are willing to concede to this project of actually rolling back trans rights. The only thing comparable from the gay rights fight is maybe state constitutional amendments to ban gay marriage, or DOMAâall of which were, IIRC, passed despite gay marriage not being legal in affected jurisdictions. Their enactment, while deplorable, had no material negative affect; gay people already couldnât get married.
And that this project of rolling back trans rights is not a particular fetish of the religious right is more worrying. Plenty of liberals and liberal institutions are pretty transphobic. Britain has been working to export its flavor of (Moderate, Sensible, Secular) transphobia to other countries in Europe and the Anglosphere. Transphobes winning these fights isnât a status quo situationâitâs a sharp increase in repression of trans people.
In light of that, I regard calls to âmoderateâ on trans issues with at best scorn. I think the party of civil rights condoning the rollback of citizensâ civil rights is really bad for its brand, wonât win it more votes, and may sufficiently alienate members of the baseâwho are invested in the party specifically because of its historic support for civil rightsâthat they simply donât bother to show up in elections.
#trans issues#american politics#will def regret writing this unless it gets me more informed#if this comes across to you as some sort of concern trolling#i don't entirely blame you
Lucy notices.
Scratches, he says when she asks, nothing to worry about. But Tommy Kinard gets them after every off day. Arms, usually. He says he accidentally got cut doing some DIY at home.
Not that it's any of her business, but one night after Tommy leaves, turning down invitations for after-shift drinks, Lucy thinks she needs to step in. He looks a little strange, enough that her spider sense tingles.
"Hey."
"Hey Buckley, Lucy here. Is, uh, is Tommy going over to your place?"
Buck laughs, a short bark that sounds bitter. "Why would he? There's nothing he wants here."
"Buck, what are you saying?"
"We broke up forty-three days ago," Buck says, and hangs up.
That's over a month, and Tommy hasn't breathed a word. Lucy sighs and rolls her eyes, then tells Gus she's not going out for drinks either.
---
When she gets to Tommy's place, she wonders how to broach the subject. She dawdles long enough in her car that Tommy opens the front door and jerks his head, inviting her inside.
She goes, sucking on her tongue, wishing it didn't have to be her. But if not her, then someone else, someone who might report to the higher-ups.
"Hey. What's with the stalking?" Tommy asks. He presses the time for the microwave. There's a new bandaid near the crook of his left elbow.
She sticks her hands in her jeans pockets. "You're hurting yourself."
Tommy goes very still. She counts; it takes about three to four breaths before he shakes his head. "I'm alright. It's just a minor scratch."
"Every day for the past forty-three days?" She steps closer. "I called Buck."
"So you know."
"You're hurting yourself. Did he - was he the one to call it off?" Judging by the way Buckley spoke, she's reasonably sure it wasn't him, which means it has to be this self-martyring idiot who pulled the plug. But she has to make sure, in case she kicks the wrong ass.
Tommy shakes his head. "I... I didn't want him to feel obligated to stick with his first man. And he would've. He deserves better than me."
Lucy rolls her eyes and kicks him lightly on the seat of his pants. "You're an idiot."
"Yeah, I know. I should never have let him talk me into trying-"
"No, I meant the break up!" Lucy blows out a long breath. "Fuck. you know what, it's been a long shift, my words are not making sense in my head, but I am gonna stay here tonight and you - you will explain yourself in the morning, and if I'm not 100% satisfied that the reasons are valid or that the obstacles you've imagined cannot be overcome, I am dragging you to Buckley's and you will fucking grovel for forgiveness."
Then she goes to him and throws her arms around him, hugging him tightly. He tenses, and then relaxes into her embrace.
"I'm your friend, you bloody moron," she whispers. "You shoulda told me. I would've given you enough tequila to drown an elephant, and I wouldn't even take a photo of you crying like a baby." She presses her cheek against his. "No more careless scratches, okay? I like my friends in one piece."
From Hedwig to Helperbot: Darren Criss Looks Back on His Stage Journey
Itâs nap time for Darren Crissâs newborn son, Brother, when the Glee star hops on our video chat. The cameraâs off, but he quickly turns it on to say hello face-to-face dressed in workout clothes â a green sleeveless top and a ball cap â as he tries to do some chores at the same time.
Criss has a limited window at home as he prepares to star in the new musical Maybe Happy Ending, now playing at Broadwayâs Belasco Theatre. The story, with book, music, and lyrics by Will Aronson and Hue Park, takes place 100 years in the future in Seoul, South Korea. Criss plays Oliver, an obsolete Belperbot along the lines of Siri or Google, âexcept more human-like, who is definitely past his prime and has been just waiting [in a Helperbot retirement facility] for his owner to pick him up,â Criss describes to Broadway Direct of the role. He stars opposite rising star Helen J Shen, who plays Oliverâs retired Helperbot neighbor. âIt almost feels like two people in an old-folksâ home trying to connect with a family member.â
The plot sounds dramatic, but âmake no mistake: This is a musical. Itâs a musical comedy,â says Criss. âIt has a lot of heart and a lot of joy and a lot of humor and amazing music, and itâs a hell of a spectacle.â
His friend Michael Arden, who won a Tony Award for his direction of Parade, was a big reason for Criss to sign on to the project â and serve as an executive producer as well. Arden brought the show to Crissâs attention many years ago, and again recently when Criss was starring in Little Shop of Horrors Off-Broadway.
âThis had been kind of percolating for a while, and between the pandemic and strikes and just a lot of other things, that really comes down to timing. So the stars just kind of aligned,â Criss says.
Criss, a figure on Broadway for well over a decade, started to gather a following while at University of Michigan as a founding member of Team StarKid, the student-run theater company behind the viral Harry Potter musical parody A Very Potter Musical. His big break came on the hit Fox TV show Glee back in 2010. The show had already aired for a full season before he was cast as Warbler Blaine Anderson and future love interest to Chris Colferâs Kurt Hummel. If not for Glee, he believes his career would not have had the same trajectory.
âI felt like this was my masterâs in performance of music on camera,â Criss says, admitting that, until Glee, he didnât consider himself a singer â rather, a musician who acted. âI have that show to thank for giving me any headway in the musical-theater space.â
In the middle of filming Glee in 2012, his Broadway debut called. Criss was asked to succeed Daniel Radcliffe in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying for three weeks during a winter break from filming Glee. âI left on, like, a Friday night from my last day of shooting. I started rehearsal on a Saturday. Within 10 days, I was on a Broadway stage. I left my Sunday matinee, got on the plane, and went to work [at Glee] Monday morning as if nothing had happened. So it was a bit of a fever dream. It goes by as quickly as it came, like all other moments in life.â
Three years later, Criss stepped into his next Broadway role. This time, he played Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch for about two and half months, succeeding John Cameron Mitchell. âPeople always ask me, âWhatâs your dream role?â Iâm like, âI kind of did it,ââ he says of the opportunity. âHedwig was a role I always loved so much when I was a teenager, and getting to jump into it was so special to me and my wife. We both love Hedwig so much. Itâs a big part of our relationship.â
More recently on Broadway, Criss starred in the play American Buffalo with Laurence Fishburne and Sam Rockwell in 2022 for a three-month limited run. âI completely idolized them,â he says of his scene partners. âI mean, if you see a pattern here, I recommend this to everybody, to just chase their heroes. Iâve just been chasing my heroes my whole life, and Iâm not being bashful about it at all.â
Getting Rachel Evan Wood to play Audrey opposite Crissâs Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors at the Westside Theatre earlier this year was something that he says was his idea.
âI pitched her pretty hard,â he said of getting casting directors to choose the Westworld actress as his costar. âWhen they heard her sing, I think it was very clear that this wasnât like a favor to anybody. She was doing us a favor. The fact that she said yes just blew my mind.â The role of the nerdy floral shop worker wasnât something Criss thought heâd get the opportunity to add to his rĂŠsumĂŠ âbecause it just was never something that I thought anybody would let me do. ⌠I wasnât sprinting to that in the way that I was the other things in my life.â
Criss welcomed Brother, his second baby, this past June with his wife Mia. The timing couldnât be more coincidental, since their first, Bluesy, was born during his run of American Buffalo.
As our conversation comes to a close, Criss says he kind of got all of his chores done and haphazardly put things away and folded laundry. The next project he wants to pursue is his writing, something he hasnât tackled much in five years. Until then, heâs reveling in Maybe Happy Ending.
âI do find myself at a loss for words, trying to truly put into words how special this experience has been,â he adds. âI think it really is a thing of beauty that can really add quite a bit of ornamentation in perhaps a grim world.â
â§âË⧠â[ zali-senpai!! ]â
ft. vezalius bandage x f! reader â krisis, nijisanji en
â°â⧠zali is finally a senpai & gets particularly attached to a certain kouhaiâ0.9k words
note: iâm not writing for the real streamer, this is a universe where they are streamers along with whatever occupation their lore follows contains: a little smut at the end!! dom zali & sub readerâreader is part of ttt & a princess who wears a dress, innocence kink, and implied virginity loss
⤠author's note: so i came up with this idea when ttt debuted and wrote it all in one day⌠yeah itâs been a while. reader is a princess because⌠zali calling you princess and him being your prince charmingâŚÂ
senpai! vezalius bandage whoâs the most excited out of krisis to finally have kouhai after being considered the babies of the group for six months, now being the predecessor of the ninth wave that contained a cleric, a swordsmaster, a kunoichi, and a princess. heâs just so thrilled, already having his card in hand to buy the available welcome merch to support the newest wave and spamming his twitter with comments about how cool you all were during your introductions to the viewers.
senpai! vezalius bandage who absolutely loves it when you refer to him as such, making his heart skip a beat and the butterflies in his stomach go ballistic. sure, he feels happy when the others call him that too, but the way you say it makes him feel an emotion thatâs indescribable (itâs actually a mix of horny and puppy crush, but he doesnât know that yet). it makes heat rush to his face and dust his handsome face with a pale rose which he just blames for not being used to the honorific, causing him to get teased by his own genmates when they catch on.
senpai! vezalius bandage who always gives great advice, willing to tell you all of the embarrassing moments he had just so that you could learn from his mistakes and breaks down everything complicated so that itâs more simple to understand. heâs always there to remind you to drink plenty of water and get plenty of rest because he knows how hectic the first month of debut is. if it ever gets too much, feel free to call him whenever and heâll help you sort it out!Â
senpai! vezalius bandage who thinks you are so cute when you follow him around like a baby duckling and watch as he shows you the ropes of streaming with wide sparkling eyes, he has to stop himself from giggling at how you seem so fascinated by simple things he does daily. heâs even cooler to you because of his job as a hero who heals those in need, something that you wish you could do as a princess for the people of your kingdom. he inspires you so much to donate both time and money to charity, helping out those in need in the best way you can.Â
senpai! vezalius bandage who you did your very first collab with outside of your genmates, spending the better half of the game talking about how amazing he was helping you out and how the other three were jokingly jealous at how much attention he was giving you. anyone with working eyes and ears could sense the immaculate chemistry, a ship name was created the same day and was flooded with artwork the next. you would never admit it, but you check the tag almost every single day while lying in bed and kick your feet blushing with each new post.Â
senpai! vezalius bandage who knows that you have little free time between the busy debut month schedule and your normal royal duties, so he makes an effort to sneak you away for some freedom because what kind of awful person would he be if he didnât look after the well-being of his kouhai? being a hero gives him lots of experience when it comes to sneaking around, so getting past the guards and to your bedroom window is a piece of cake!
senpai! vezalius bandage who will play the guitar and serenade you in the garden, singing love songs to get you all flustered under the moonlight. he would have never thought a gorgeous princess like you was so inexperienced in romantic situations like this, but heâs more than pleased to teach you all about the wonderful world of love your strict life has never allowed you to know.Â
senpai! vezalius bandage who adores how big your eyes get and how flustered you become when he steals away your first real kiss, not the half-assed peck you received from some prince when you were little under pressure, a kiss which made your heart flutter and made you feel desired. he canât but giggle at the way you looked like a deer in headlights and radiated warmth from how flustered you were. Â
senpai! vezalius bandage who plays the gentleman and leaves it there for the moment, not wanting to rush into anything too quickly even though he could already tell you were subconsciously rubbing your thighs together to relieve the little ache the simple kiss gave youâ god, you were so cute he could just eat you up. not yet though, he would leave you hanging just for tonight and take care of himself when he gets home.
senpai! vezalius bandage who canât keep up the act for very long, not when youâre an angel descended from heaven and so close to him at all times. it takes about a week at the very least before you find yourself pinned down by him, his hands trailing up your frilly dress and his tongue shoved into your mouth exploring while he relishes your pitched little moans.
senpai! vezalius bandage who thinks youâre even cuter when stuttering out a weak âzali senpai~â while he presses you into the wall and fucks you from behind at an erratic pace, his gloved hands maintaining a strong grip on your hips to help you stay upright since your legs were on the verge of giving out under youâ not stopping until youâre seeing stars and your legs are shaking so that he can carry you around afterward <3
Nine weeks. Youâd known about the pregnancy for a full month, and neither of you had told a soul. That is, until last night, two weeks after the ultrasound. You revealed it to your parents via phone call when you got home from work, and they were furious. You couldnât stop stewing over their words:
"What do you mean you're pregnant?!"
"Park Jimin?! And how does he plan on supporting you?"
"Won't this cost you your job? How could you be so irresponsible?"
"We raised you better than this, young lady."
You tried to explain to them that you were, in fact, in a relationship with him. You tried to tell them how you met him a year ago, not in some sexually charged environment, but at work. And this wasn't just a one-night stand gone awry. You were committed to one another and to having this baby, but it was as if their ears were totally closed to hearing anything outside of what they decided was the truth.
You could have cried that morning, but you were also mightily relieved that it was over. Now they knew, they could digest it on their own, and you could move on with your business.
Getting dressed for work, you dealt with the same fatigue and sickness that had become routine. You had figured out that bananas and plain rice helped soothe your stomach, and you could keep it down, so thatâs what you ate for breakfast.
As you consumed your food slowly, you stared at the sonogram photos, which you had magnetized to the refrigerator. It took a few conversations to get there, but you and Jimin were finally able to work out a date and time for the next ultrasound. It would be at the twenty-week mark in August at his place. You smiled to yourself as you daydreamed about it, but there was something else to be excited for in the very near future.
You glanced back into your living room, where there was a gift on the sofa. It was wrapped in neutral light green paper and a simple white bow. Youâd gotten a little surprise for Jimin, and planned on giving it to him whenever you were at his apartment next.
Jimin was working out intensely at the studioâs fitness center early that morning, partially because it was necessary to keep up with his job, but also to push out nervous energy.
He knew you told your parents the night before, and he also knew how they reacted. You were reluctant to share it for the sake of sparing his feelings, but he insisted on it. Now that he was fully aware of how your parents felt about him, it stirred him up inside. He wanted the grandparents of his child to at least like him.
Even worse, today was the day he promised heâd tell his own parents. Unsettled and keyed up, he was running on the treadmill much harder than normal. The more he overthought about what his parents would say, the harder he ran. It was beginning to draw attention from Taehyung, Jungkook, and Namjoon, who were all working out at the same time.
Taehyung finished his set on one of the leg machines and got off so he could switch places with the leader, gesturing to Jimin with the quick tilt of his head, "What is he doing? We have a dance practice today. He's going to burn himself out."
Namjoon furrowed his brows, agreeing that this was most unlike him to do something like this. If they had dance practice on a given day, then he made sure he kept his gym activities lighter, more like a warm-up. Right now, it looked like he was training for a marathon. Something had still been a little off about Jimin over the past few weeks. This was just the latest example, and he was becoming more worried by the day.
Jungkook finished a set of pull-ups, "I'll go check on him."
The youngest wiped his dark brown, sweat-clung hair off his forehead and then dabbed off his face with his t-shirt. He made his way over to his panting friend, trying to get his attention.
Jimin took out an earbud when he thought he heard someone calling him. He turned his head to find a humored Jungkook standing there, "What's up?"
"You need to slow the fuck down," Jungkook said, "Don't kill those legs before practice."
"I'm fine," he puffed, "This is light."
"You've been at it for almost thirty minutes. That's double what you typically do before dancing. Come on, Jimin. You'll get all the cardio you desire in a few hours."
He had a point, so he hit the button for the machine to come to a halt. It was only when he became sedentary again that he realized how hard he had pushed his body. It felt like his chest was going to implode. He clutched his shirt over his chest, taking the other earbud out.
Jungkook stepped a bit closer and lowered his voice, "You okay, hyung?"
Jimin said nothing, too desperate to catch his breath. All he could do was nod, but it did little to convince.
The weight was coming down on him. Abruptly, he got off the treadmill and walked out into the hallway, not even stopping to take a drink of water. His heart and mind were both racing. He couldn't take it anymore - he might as well just give them a call now. Rip the bandaid off.
He took the elevator up to the eighth floor, where the private studio rooms were. Yoongi, Jin, and Hoseok might have been in theirs, so he opted for the one that was open for general use. He thanked his lucky stars that this was taking place before work hours, so there was no outside party there to see him looking this distraught. All he had to do was avoid the eyes of the managers, who were likely already in their offices.
He pressed the access code into the pad on the wall with a hasty index finger. Once inside the four soundproof walls, the door locked automatically behind him.
There was a desk set up against the wall with a couple of monitors and a swivel chair. He sank into the chair and took a pause, staring his motherâs contact on the phone. Breathing finally slowing down, he cleared his throat and forced himself to push the button against his own wishes.
He put the phone to his ear and listened to it ring four times, before his motherâs sweet voice.
âJimin?â
He gulped, âHey, Mom. How are you?â
âWhatâs wrong?â she asked him immediately. A mother knew her child, and she certainly could detect the nervousness in his voice, no matter how hard he was trying to sound normal.
There was no point in lying to her, âNothingâs wrong, per se. But I do need to tell you and Dad something really important. Is he around?â
âSure, honey. One second.â she said before calling his fatherâs name in the background.
Jiminâs knee was bouncing up and down as he tapped his foot. The time was fast approaching.
âHey,â his fatherâs voice joined in, âHow are you, son?â
âIâm alright Dad. I need to tell you guys something and I donât necessarily know how to do it,â he smiled anxiously, âUmâŚYeah, I really have no idea how to do this.â
His mother used a soft, caring tone, âYou can tell us. You said it was nothing bad, right?â
âWell, thatâs the thing,â Jimin sighed, reclining back in the chair, âTo me itâs not, at least not anymore. But itâs probably going to upset you.â
âThatâs most unlike you. You know you can tell us anything.â His father said.
He nodded, starting to work up the courage he needed, âI know, I knowâŚOkay, I just have to do it. Do you both remember me telling you about the girl Iâve been seeing, Y/N?â
âYes,â his father said wearily, âI think I know where this is going. Son, please tell us you didnât propose to this girl without introducing her to your mother and me first.â
âWhat? No, itâs not that. But weâve been seeing each other for a year now and things have gotten pretty seriousâŚreally serious actually,â Jimin coerced the words out of his mouth, âSheâs pregnant.â
The air went dead. On the other end of the line, his parents were utterly stunned. Their silence was making him writhe. He went from leaning back in the chair to bending forward, doubled over with his elbows on his knees.
He pushed his free hand back into his hair, âI know this comes as a shock. Iâm sorry. It just sort ofâŚhappened.â
His mother came back instantly with a voice full of worry and sternness, âBabies donât just happen, Jimin. You werenât being careful.â
âHow long have you known about this? And are you certain it's yours?â his father inquired. Jimin could tell he was fuming.
âAbout a month,â he admitted, âSheâs nine weeks along, and yes, it's mine. Iâm sorry I didnât tell you guys sooner. We wanted to wait until the first ultrasound to make sure things were okay, plus itâs just been a lot to deal with.â
The concerned and aggravated woman laughed out of bewilderment, Of course itâs a lot, honey. Itâs a baby. I hope you have gotten a plan together by now. Are you going to be able to co-parent with her? How will this all work?â
He wanted to shrink into oblivion, âI honestly have no idea, Mom. And I know thatâs not what you want to hear, but Y/N and I will figure it out.â
His fatherâs tone was the slightest bit gentler, âAt the very least, can you tell us you are committed mother of your child?â
He answered quickly, wanting to appease them with something theyâd actually want to hear, âWe are deeply committed to each other and to being good parents together. I love her. This is the first relationship Iâve had that has grown slowly over time and I think that makes it different. She really knows me, all of me. And I know her.â
His mother sighed, âIâm glad youâve developed strong relationship and that she makes you happy, but love alone doesnât make for good parenting. You need a plan, Jimin, especially with your career. Stability is everything for a child.â
Finally, a chance for him to vent, âI know, thatâs been the hard part. I feel like Iâm failing them both every time I pretend that we arenât together. No one even knows weâre seeing each other, and if they did, sheâd get fired. How can I offer them stability if the options are to either keep it all a secret or to expose it and upheave our whole lives with a scandal?â
âYour life has already been upheaved, son,â his father said, âBecoming a father is the biggest change you will ever undergo, whether you are an idol or not. And it disappoints me to hear you call this a 'scandal'. Your son or daughter is not a scandal. Now Iâm not thrilled with this news, but if you are going to make this work, you need to stop that kind of thinking.â
âHeâs right,â his mother said, âBoth of you must accept the repercussions of this, even though a lot of it will sting. Anything less would be putting yourselves over this child."
As embarrassing as this conversation was, their guidance was something he had been starving for. They had a way of giving clarity amid the disarray.
Deep down, he knew this would have to come to light someday - you'd both acknowledged that multiple times already. But now he had a different perspective:
The inevitable reveal didn't have to be scary if it was seen as a necessity for this baby's wellbeing. It was something that had to be done for the sake of raising a child with as much normalcy and steadiness as possible. Otherwise, his or her life would be nothing but secrecy and isolation. The thought of his child feeling like a burden that needed to be hidden away sent shivers down Jimin's spine. If the way to prevent that turmoil was to face the fire, then he would do it.
"Yeah," he nodded, "I needed to hear that. Thank you, even though I know this news isn't a talk you ever wanted to have with me. I'm sorry this disappoints you."
"We wish you'd been more careful," his mother sighed, "But your father and I love you and we will always do what we can to support you. It seems like you have hard months ahead of you, but being a parent comes with unimaginable sacrifices. If you can face them, it will be worth it."
The middle-aged man concurred before adding to the sentiment, "And we have no doubt that you have it in you to be a wonderful father, Jimin."
Unexpectedly, emotion consumed him. To hear that from his own dad meant more than he could have anticipated. He'd been torn up in a never-ending pendulum swing ever since finding out, going back and forth between excitement and fear. Such assurance from an outside party had been a missing piece.
Choked up but not quite crying, Jimin bit the inside of his cheek and then grunted, "Thanks, Dad. Thank you both. I love you guys and I want you to meet Y/N sometime soon. You'll adore her."
He couldn't see it, but his mother was starting to smile, "You really love her, don't you?"
"She's something else," he cleared the inner corners of his eyes with his thumb and index finger, "You'll see it after a only minute of talking to her...I did."
âAnd you said thereâs already been an ultrasound,â she said, âIs everything going okay so far?â
He found himself unable to hold back a small grin, âYeah, itâs going well. Y/N's been pretty under the weather lately, but she was told it's all normal."
"We will look forward to meeting her," his father said, "We will work out a day to come by. In the meantime, just bear what we've said in mind and take time to plan the next steps."
"I will.â
Both parties then said their goodbyes and hung up. Jimin set his phone on the desk and put his arms behind his head, inhaling and exhaling deeply. It was over with. Heâd made it over that hurdle, and it went better than he thought.
He walked out of that studio room in much better spirits than when he went in. Even though he was due at practice in a couple hours, he went back down to the floor on which he started this morning. There were showers available for use, and he felt like he needed a rinse, feeling cold from the drying sweat.
On his way to the showers, he grabbed his bag, which contained a change of clothes for practice. It was waiting for him along the wall in the workout room. Thankfully, the other members were gone when he re-entered the gym, having finished their warm-ups.
It only took him a few minutes to rinse off, refreshing his mood. He washed his body while leaving his hair dry. When he came out, he changed into cargo sweatpants and a black t-shirt. He felt most comfortable rehearsing in baggy garments, allowing his body the maximum range of motion.
He folded his dirty workout gear and packed it away in the bag, then slipping into some sneakers and heading back upstairs to get something to eat. Thatâs where he figured heâd find the others, eating one of the private common areas.
On the way back up, he noticed some employees making their way into their respective offices. The workday was beginning. It made him think of you and how you might have been feeling that morning, not just physically, but emotionally in the aftermath of calling your parents. He decided to send you a quick text, asking how you were. He knew he would be seeing you after their rehearsal - you and Chaeyoung were coming in to take the guys' initial measurements for the tour concept.
Right as he hit send and rounded a corner, someone bumped into him. His grip on his phone slipped and it was knocked to the floor screen-down. Luckily, it turned out to be Jungkook.
"Oh, I'm sorry," Jimin sighed, "Wasn't looking."
Jungkook chuckled, rubbing his shoulder, "All good. I was just coming to look for you. You don't have to tell me what you're stressing about, but I know there's something and I'm going to make sure you at least eat, so come on."
He appreciated the concern, and it was valid, though he would hate to admit it. Jimin could forget to eat sometimes when experiencing strife.
Then Jungkook's eyes went to the floor, noticing that he'd accidentally caused it to fall. He crouched down to retrieve it, making the older internally panic and rush to get to it first. Unfortunately, his friend beat him to it. Innocently wanting to make sure the screen hadn't cracked, Jungkook turned it over.
The screen hadn't yet locked. He could see the text thread between Jimin and his new girlfriend and it made him smirk as he stood up, prepared to unleash some good-natured teasing.
Jiminâs stomach felt like it could have fallen out of his body. He tried to snatch it back, but it only made matters worse. It only confirmed that there was something to hide. With alarmed eyes, he surveyed their surroundings to make sure no one was seeing this.
Jungkookâs brows became furrowed as he scrolled a bit. It was nosy, sure, but he had to know what his brother was hiding. It was painfully clear that something wasnât right. What he read made no sense to him, but then he saw a black and white photo.
The millisecond he realized, his eyes looked like they were going to pop out of their sockets. Jimin went rigid. He could feel his pulse in his throat.
It was nothing less than a blessing that Namjoon suddenly appeared, startling the youngest member into locking the phone and handing it back to its owner.
The two remained stuck in some form of telepathic eye contact. With a baffled gaze, Jungkookâs face was screaming out the question. Jimin had his lips pressed together and jaw tight, eyes begging him not to say anything.
The leader looked back and forth between them, âHello? Everyone good?â
Jungkook realized his hands were tied. He couldnât simply obliterate this giant beast of a secret out in this public hallway. He nodded his head, âY-Yeah, all good.â
The panicking member was caught red handed. He shoved his phone back into his pocket, faking an unperturbed smile, âWeâre fine. He just came to see if I was coming to eat.â
Namjoon wasnât buying it. This was the last straw. Jimin wasnât okay. There was something he wasnât being open about. Even so, this wasnât the time or place, âYeah, come eat with us. You had a long run.â
As a threesome, they headed into the room that held the other members, all snacking on energy-packed foods to fuel them later on. Jimin joined them, but had no appetite whatsoever. His mind was too preoccupied with trepidation to send hunger signals. Jungkook knew the biggest secret he'd ever kept from any of them. He needed to do whatever he could to ensure he wouldn't divulge.
During the dance practice, he wasn't nearly as focused. He and Jungkook kept making eye contact in the mirror, breaking one another's concentration repeatedly. It made the rehearsal drone on, as they kept messing up the choreography. One wanted a code of silence, while the other felt like he needed to shout.
The physical labor ended after a couple of hours. When it was done, the members had a quick breather to cool off. After about fifteen minutes, you and Chaeyoung entered the room with your measuring tapes draped from your necks. Whenever you and Jimin were in the same room at work, you both made conscious efforts not to pay special attention to each other. The other members took stock of how good the two of you were at hiding your feelings.
However, when Jimin noticed you walking over to Jungkook to take his measurements, he couldnât stop himself from looking.
You smiled at the man, who looked somewhat perplexed by you, âHey, Jungkook. How are you?â
His eyes darted from Jimin and then back to you, âUh, great, Y/NâŚHow are you feeling? I mean, how are you?â
Unbeknownst to you, your boyfriendâs stern gaze shot upon him for that slip of the tongue.
You took the tape measure off your neck and began to wrap it around his torso, âNot too bad. Busy these days. I hardly have time for anything else.â
âIâm sure you are,â he said, well aware that Jimin was listening, âBut even if youâre busy, itâs important to still make time for other things in life, like friends. Friends are so important, you know? I bet theyâd be able to help you cope with whatever youâre struggling with, but only if you reach out. If you donât, then whatâs the point of even having them?â
It wasnât a message directed toward you. The intended recipient, however, got the message loud and clear, and it vexed him. What did he think he was doing, using you to prove a point like that?
While making note of his measurements, you looked at him, lost, âUm, yeah. I guess thatâs true.â
It was awkward, but there wasnât much time to ponder about it. You and Chaeyoung had to get this information down quickly, before the guys had to run off somewhere else. She was busy taking Yoongiâs.
When you were done with Jungkook, you moved on to Jimin, only because you had to move quickly and Chaeyoung looked like she was going to do Taehyungâs next. He was the closest to you, so he was the natural next in line.
You grinned at him, âHi.â
As was routine, he lifted his arms a bit so you could measure his midsection. You were already paying close attention to the tiny numbers on your tape when he greeted you back, shooting Jungkook a glare, âHey.â
He thought about whispering a warning to you about the current situation, but decided not to. It would only freak you out.
Instead, he asked as you removed the tape from his torso and wrapped it around his biceps, âDid you get my text?â
Even though he kept his voice low, you hesitated to answer, âYeah. Iâm alright, just a littleâŚbummed.â
The look on your face told him you were far more than bummed, âI called mine earlier.â
Your stomach did a flip, but you played it off as if you were having a casual conversation, using a muted voice, âHow did that go?â
Jimin shrugged, smiling softly, âHonestly, not bad. Iâll tell you about it later.â
You nodded, recording his updated measurements on your notepad. In light of his parents' wisdom, your unwillingness to indicate that you were involved with him upset him. He wasn't frustrated with you personally, but with the situation itself. It crashed into him like never before - his love, the mother of his child, had to pretend she hardly knew him. And although he knew the reasons, it truly disturbed his conscience for the first time.
When you and Chaeyoung had collected all that you needed, you left. Yoongi and Namjoon went up to their studios to write, Hoseok following suit to record a demo. Taehyung and Jin went to a vocal lesson.
Jimin and Jungkook remained in the room together, much to the dismay of both. The former was firmly planted in one spot with no idea what to say or do. He wanted to rebuke the younger for speaking so candidly and thoughtlessly with you - that was far too hazardous for his comfort. Yet, he was at a loss. How could he be one to talk, when it had just been revealed that he'd been keeping something so enormous from them all?
Jungkook looked around the room, hands on his hips. The quick survey assured him that no one would hear them. He shook his head, tone surprisingly calm, "Hyung, I'm begging you to be honest now. I swear, if you try to squirm your way out of this I will kill you."
The older accepted his fate, but this place was nowhere near secure enough to have this discussion.
"Is Y/N-"
"No," Jimin stopped him, frazzled and alarmed, "Don't finish that question yet. I'll tell you everything, just not here. Please."
His eyes were so desperate that they bent the will of the other man. Jungkook pursed his lips together, annoyed to hell and back but still understanding, "Fine. Your place, then. Now."
Both men tossed their bags by the door once they got into Jimin's apartment, one out of aggravation, and the other with dread.
Not a word was spoken as they naturally gravitated toward the living room. Jimin waited to see where Jungkook was going to sit, so that he could sit opposite of him.
Both men got settled into a seat, wondering how this conversation was going to go. They were silent for a brief moment, collecting themselves so they could speak like adults.
Jungkook leaned forward, letting his forearms rest on his thighs. He was biting his tongue, giving it his all to approach this matter calmly, even though he was irate. He wanted to believe it wasn't true. There was no way Jimin could have done something like this, nevermind keep it from all of them. If this was what had been going on with him all that time, then he had to have known for a while. It would have been weeks of dishonesty - all those times he told them nothing was the matter.
The younger inhaled through his nose, "I feel like I don't even need to ask it now. We both know the topic at hand. Just tell me."
Jimin nodded for a moment without saying anything, looking anywhere but in his friend's eyes, "She's pregnant."
It was one thing to have seen the sonogram, but it was quite another to actually hear it come from his mouth. Jungkook pinched the bridge of his nose, "How far along is she?"
"Nine weeks," he replied, "I found out the night before we went to Jin's."
"So you have known for a while," Jungkook's suspicion was confirmed, "Why didn't you tell us sooner, hyung? God, this is...this is fucking huge."
The older huffed, throwing his hands up in irritation, "I don't know, maybe because this has been a crazy time for me and Y/N. I mean, put yourself in my shoes. Would your first priority be telling everyone? We have been literally just trying to make it through each day."
Jungkook took a deep breath, collecting his emotions. If the situation was reversed, Jimin would be nothing but supportive. He had to be smart about how he reacted to this news.
"Look," he said with a softening tone, "I didn't mean it that to come off like a judgment. I'm sorry. It's just, as your friend, I wish you'd have come to us sooner. We've been watching you struggle for the past weeks, wondering what was wrong with you. You had us convinced for a few days after telling us that you and Y/N were official, but then your strange behavior didn't go away. And to learn that this is the reason...it's a lot to take in."
Jimin dropped the defensiveness, leaning back in his chair, crossing his arms over his stomach in some sort of self-embrace, "Believe me, I know."
"How are you doing with it?"
He shook his head a bit and let a minuscule smile break onto his face, "That's the thing I can't figure out. I don't think there's a general feeling. There have just been moments. When I'm with Y/N, I'm mostly happy about it. I feel like I wouldn't want to have a kid with anyone else. The fear creeps in when I think about everything else - our careers as BTS, the fact that she will probably get fired over this. The thought of becoming a dad doesn't scare me nearly as much as the consequences that will come from this."
For the second time that day, he became emotional. He tried to keep it concealed, but the crack of his choked voice gave it away, "I'm terrified that she will lose it all because of this. I hate that having my baby might ruin her career. I hate that for now, I have to convince the world that I'm not in love with the woman who is carrying my child. I-I can't be there for her like a real partner. I had to miss the ultrasound, and I didn't get to hear my kid's heartbeat, because I had to be at work. And I hate that when this all eventually comes to light, there will be a media frenzy on her, on me, and probably on all of you too."
A few tears started to roll down his cheeks and he buried his face in his hands, sniffling. Jungkook reflexively stood up and went over to him. He sat on the very corner of the chair and wrapped an arm around his shoulder, "Let it out. It's okay."
Jimin broke, "Everything negative in this situation has to do with me! It all traces back to the career I worked so hard to have! They always say there's a cost to fame, and we've all experienced that, but I don't know. I just never thought about this cost."
Jungkook rubbed his back, "I agree that it's your career, but don't equate that to you personally."
"How? I'm the one that chose it."
"But you just said it yourself - you never thought about this cost. That's no reason to beat yourself up," He said, "No one ever fully grasps the downsides to fame until they have it."
Jimin was settling down now, removing his hands from his wet face and drying it with his t-shirt, "It's hurting Y/N. She's been trying so hard to tell me that she's accepted the reality, but I can see it behind her eyes, Jungkook. She'll grieve the loss of her job, and I don't even want to think about her enduring all the scrutiny she will have to face."
"She has you," Jungkook offered a reassuring grin, "Now, I don't know about her family, but I know yours. They will support both of you wholeheartedly. And you'll have all of us too. You just need to tell the rest of the members."
Jimin nodded, "I know, you're right. Both of our families know now. There's no reason not to tell them. Just give me a few days to work it out with Y/N. I can't break the news without letting her know."
The younger man concurred, "That's understandable, but for your own good, consider doing it soon. I think it will take a lot of the pressure off your back, and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the support."
"Really?"
"Yeah, you're our brother. We will help you make it work. And you're going to be a dad. That makes us uncles, doesn't it?" Jungkook chuckled, "There's a cause for excitement in all of this."
Jimin broke into a small laugh, "I didn't think about you all being uncles. Don't know whether it's heartwarming or concerning."
"Only time will tell," Jungkook smirked, "So when's this little Park coming?"
There was a flutter in his chest at the nickname, "The doctor said January eighth."
"And everything's looking healthy so far?"
He hummed, "Yeah. Apparently, the heartbeat was unusually strong for his or her age. That made me oddly proud."
Jungkook nudged him playfully, "I mean, it only makes sense, considering how fit you are. Your sperm's probably the healthiest known to man."
He laughed harder this time, turning to give him a jestful smack on the arm. Jimin felt better now. Not great, but better. When the laughter died down, he breathed in deeply and let it out, âGod, I feel like Iâve been hit by a truck. When I said our parents know, I meant weâve only just told them. Mine found out this morning.â
âShit,â the other patted him twice on the back, âHow did they take it?â
âYou know my mom and dad - they werenât leaping for joy, but it wasnât awful. It ended on a good note,â he shrugged, âI just feel like this day is giving me whiplash.â
You got into the elevator in your apartment complex, letting your head rest against the back wall as it carried you up to your floor. You had a headache and had used up the last of your over the counter painkillers. Jimin likely had some, so you figured youâd eat dinner and then go to his place.
You felt like a towel that had been wrung out, twisted and squeezed of all energy and substance. You were desperately spent. The only thing keeping you fully present, ironically, were your mood swings.
If something didnât go according to plan at work, you felt like you wanted to punch a hole in the wall, or cry, or both. Those were the lows. On the other end of the spectrum were short bursts of sexual urges. You prayed that youâd hidden it well enough while you were measuring Jimin earlier. Getting to touch him and examine his body like that didnât do you your raging hormones any favors.
You put your key into the lock of your door and turned it, hearing the latch open up. Then you got inside and immediately wanted to vomit, not as a side effect, but out of shock.
The lights were on, and there were two faces sitting in your living room that you hadnât seen in a while.
Speechless for a moment, you dropped your bag and froze in your tracks, âM-Mom? Dad?â
They got up from the couch while you remained rooted in place. Your mother was the first to give you a hug, but you barely embraced her back, far too confused.
âHi, sweetie,â she sighed, âHow are you feeling today?â
Your father hugged you next, âItâs been forever since weâve seen you.â
You were shocked. Not even twenty four hours prior, these people were scolding you and telling you how disappointed they were in you. You stared at them, totally discombobulated. Your head was pounding so hard that you felt it in the back of your eyeballs.
âWhat are you both doing here?â You asked, brushing past them both and going into your quaint little living room. You needed to sit.
Your parents turned around and followed you back to their original places on your sofa. You were tucked into an armchair that was perpendicular to it.
Your mother leaned on the arm of the sofa towards you, eyes full of a lukewarm concern, âWe came to have a much calmer discussion about this.â
Bringing your knees up to your chest, you asked, âYou came all the way here just for that? How did you even get in?â
âYou gave us a copy of your key when you moved in, remember?â your father replied, âAnyway, we arenât happy with how we reacted to the news yesterday. Weâre sorry we resorted to anger.â
Your mother sighed, âWe love you, Y/N. And we realize that you are a grown woman now who can make her own choices. But as your parents, we ask that you please listen to what we have to say.â
You nodded hesitantly, âO-OkayâŚâ
She continued, âWe are worried that you arenât considering the enormity of this, and the risk you are taking by placing so much trust in this man.â
You felt a twinge of exasperation, having had a sneaking suspicion that it was going down this route.
It must have shown on your face, because your father looked a little indignant, âYour mother is right. It appears as though you arenât thinking this through. We donât want to see you get hurt. Park Jimin is one of the most famous men in the world. He took advantage of you, as his type often does.â
You felt like you could have spat, âHe did not take advantage of me in any way. Neither of you know him well enough to assume that about him. Jimin is a good man.â
âYou are a stylist at his agency,â your mother scowled, âHe knew that your position would make it impossible to disclose your relationship without putting your career on the line. He used you for his own pleasures, knowing youâd never say anything to anyone.â
Your father cleared his throat and looked down, unable to imagine his daughter fornicating with anyone, let alone a member of a global sensation like BTS. A man who had women practically falling at his feet wherever he went.
Your hormones made your reaction sharper. They were talking about the man you loved, the father of your child - denigrating him to the level of a scumbag and a womanizer, "You're both so wrong about him...I don't even know what to say. I told you already, we've been together for a year. If he'd had enough of me at any point, it would have been easy for him to toss me aside, but he hasn't. I know it's not what anyone would have envisioned, but he...he loves me. And I love him."
"We aren't here to argue over whether he loves you, Y/N," he said, "Our point is that he knows damn well how his job works. He's been perfectly willing to hide you away like some impropriety all this time. What makes you so sure he won't do the same thing with you and this baby?"
"Because he-"
You paused and closed your eyes, not wanting to finish your sentence for the sake of not sounding naive. They had you cornered and you hated it.
"Because he what?" your mother looked at you with sympathy, like you were some poor foolish girl, "Because he told you so? What good are words without action?"
You were so upset and exhausted that you felt tears prick your eyes. You looked down, "It's not that simple, Mom. In this case, action will cost me my job and who knows what else. We haven't figured much out yet, but I think we both deserve some credit for being committed to this anyway. We could have easily decided not to go through with this, but we did because we are dedicated to each other."
Your father put his hands on his knees, "And even if that is true, how will he ever be able to be there for you? I won't have my little girl stuck raising a baby alone while he galivants around the world and across every red carpet that would have him."
An angry tear rolled down your cheek, "He's not like that. I don't know how else I can convince you guys. Jimin understands the importance of being present."
"He missed the ultrasound." he said.
You shook your head, eyes closed, "Only because it was right after we found out and it was too late to change plans."
"Then will he plan on being at the next one?" your mother asked, crossing her arms.
You hugged your knees to your chest, "Yes, he will. We have a date scheduled in August."
She raised her brows, "You're telling us he will show up to a public doctor's office and risk exposing this?"
"W-Well, no. It's going to be at his apartment."
Your father scoffed, "You see? He's going to keep you and this baby a secret."
You were seething, "You know what? Yes, we are going to keep this a secret for as long as we can, because neither of us needs the media storming us while we're still trying to figure out our lives. Who would want to put themselves through that? But we've already agreed that it can't last forever - we just haven't worked out when we will take the step to tell the company and make an announcement."
Your mother reached out and put her hand on your knee, "Sweetie, we're trying to look after you, and our grandchild. We want you both to have a stable home environment."
"Well then what do you suggest we do?!" you shook out of her touch by standing up out of the chair, "It's clear that you guys won't be satisfied either way. We could keep it a secret forever or we could go public today - you'll continue to believe that he won't be there for me and that this is all a bad idea. So what? Would you rather me get an abortion or something?"
They were silent, looking at each other. You were a horrible mix of furious and embarrassed. It wasn't your intention to get so heated. You stubbornly defended your relationship, but you couldn't deny that their concerns were valid. You thought about the child in your belly. If you were standing in your parents' shoes, you'd probably have reservations too.
Then your mother looked back at you. She stood up and placed her hands on your upper arms, tone subdued, "We want you to move back home."
You were wiping tears from your eyes as you drove. It was dark outside now. Your parents got back on the road, and you followed suit. As you passed under every traffic light, you kept telling yourself to hold out just a little longer. You'd be there soon.
After pulling into the lot and parking your car, you glanced to your left, where the green-wrapped present sat in the passenger seat. Sniffling, you dried your eyes one last time and grabbed it, taking it with you into the building. You were walking with a quick gait, anguished and itching for some comfort. Fortunately, the gift in the box had the potential to bring you the solace you needed.
You took the same elevator as normal. When you reached the door, you fumbled in your pocket for the key, balancing the gift box on your thigh momentarily.
The door opened, and you heard something in the kitchen. He typically ate dinner around this time. When you appeared, he seemed delighted, but then he noticed the slight puffiness of your eyes. It was a confusing sight - you standing there upset while holding a gift.
"Hey," he put his wooden spatula down and turned down the heat on the stove so that his fried rice wouldn't burn, "What happened, sweetheart?"
He gave you a kiss on the cheek and searched the features of your face as you sighed, "Hi. I just had the longest, weirdest day."
You placed the gift down on a nearby stool and finally let yourself melt into his arms. Jimin kissed the top of your head repeatedly, "I did too."
You pulled your head off of his chest so you could look at his eyes. He was giving you an assured smile, but you still wanted to know what went on, "How come?"
His lips found your forehead before he brought you into his loving hold again, "Well, as you know, I told my parents about the baby, and then Jungkook found out by accident."
This time, you drew away from the hug completely, "Wait, say that again?â
Jimin scratched the back of his neck, âYeah. I dropped my phone and he saw the sonogram photo.â
He saw how worried you looked and smiled, taking your hands loosely, âDonât worry, heâs not going to tell the others. But this probably means we need to come clean soon.
You nodded, âYeah, we should. I know itâs been hard for you keep it from them.â
âIt has, but thatâs a conversation for later. Tell me whatâs wrong. Youâve been crying.â His eyes were plagued with distress.
âIâŚâ you didnât know how to start, âI got home from work and my parents were there.â
He dropped your hands, âWhat?â
You put you hand to your forehead, âUgh, my head is killing me. Yeah, I walked in the door and they were just sitting waiting for me.â
Without you having to ask, Jimin turned around and headed to one of the cabinets, where he kept any medicines. As he prepared a glass of water for you to take the pills, he felt a pit in his stomach. This didnât sound good.
âWere they that upset about yesterday?â he asked.
You took the glass of water when he offered it to you, holding out your hand to receive the capsules, âNot exactly. They came to have a better discussion about itâŚOnly it didnât really go that way.â
âAh,â the hurt on his face was clear, âThey still think itâs a bad idea, huh?â
There was no way you were going to elaborate on all that they said. You didnât want to damage his feelings any further. You merely nodded, âIâm afraid so, but itâs more than that. They want me to move back home.â
He had only just started to stir his dinner on the stove again when he ceased any movement. The pit in his stomach deepened into an abyss, eyes leaking with dread as he looked at you, âBut they live on the other side of the country, right?â
He couldnât lose you. If you left, youâd be taking his child with you. And then what? How would you be able to stay together as a couple with that amount of distance? Everything youâd built over the past twelve months could crumble.
You saw how alarmed he was by the prospect and put him to ease immediately, âYes, but Iâm not going of course.â
He put his hand over his heart and exhaled, shaking his head a little, âGod, please open with that next time instead of letting me think the worst.â
âSorry,â you smiled softly before recounting their reasoning, âThey say it would be best for me and the baby. Iâd quit my job and live with them for a while. They think itâs the only way to guarantee a secure home environment.â
His expression could have broken your heart, and it was only scratching the surface of what your parents had said to you. Jimin kept stirring the rice, turning the heat back up a little bit. You knew him well enough to see that his avoidance of eye contact was due to a wound.
You took off your shoes and tossed them back by the door before coming to wrap your arms around him. Your cheek made its home on his sturdy back, "I'm sorry. They just don't know you yet. They haven't seen what this really is."
He sighed, his shoulders slouching. "I know. That's why I want to meet them and you to meet mine. I understand why your parents feel the way they do. And I know you're leaving a lot out to spare my feelings. That doesn't make it fun to hear, but I get it."
You held him tighter, "Then we'll find a time to meet each other's. Maybe even at the same time."
Jimin let out a subtle chuckle at the notion, and then went back to serious, "And you? Do you still believe that I can provide a secure home environment?"
You stopped hugging him, instead joining him at his side, leaning against the counter so that you could look him in his eyes, "I've had a little while to think about it. I think that the environment this baby enters will never be a normal one. You could quit BTS right now and the fame will always follow you. That automatically makes for an abnormal upbringing. But that doesn't mean we can't do things to mitigate that, and that doesn't mean we can't raise a healthy, happy child. Above all, it doesn't mean he or she will lack security. Jimin, you're one of the most loving people I've ever known."
A hint of a grin began to form on his lips. You put your hand on your still flat tummy, "Whoever is in here will feel your love and support every day. Because that's just who you are."
His smile became a little bigger, "'Who I am' feels more complete whenever you're around. Thank you."
You pushed yourself from the counter and craned your neck upward so you could kiss him, "You're welcome. Now did you make any extra for me? I haven't eaten yet."
He smirked and pecked your lips once more, "Yes, there will be enough. Grab a couple bowls, it's about done."
He dished out the meal for two and you ate in the living room, sitting on the floor and using the coffee table as the surface. It tasted like heaven to you, but you were mindful to eat it slowly for the good of your gut.
"Mm," Jimin's eyes went wide suddenly, "I didn't tell you about my parents."
You swallowed, "Oh, right. How was that?"
"Like I said earlier, not bad. They were shocked and I got chided a little bit, but I hung up feeling a deeper sense of purpose," he explained, "And I want to share it with you if it's alright."
You were intrigued by the uptick in his mood, "Yeah, please."
"They made me realize that I, and possibly the two of us together, have been so terrified to tell the company because of the consequences to ourselves. But those consequences are necessary if we want what's best for our child, so we don't have to see it as some horrible doom coming our way," he studied your face to see if it was making sense, "All I'm trying to say is that we shouldn't see it as this awful storm cloud hanging over our heads. That doesn't mean it won't be hard or painful for us, but we can at least take comfort in that we'll be doing right by our little one."
You smiled, "I like that way of thinking. You know, after seeing the ultrasound, I felt something of a bond form. I'd do anything if it meant he or she was saved from hurt, and I know we both agree that the secrecy would hurt."
Jimin nodded, "Exactly. You're such an incredible mother already, baby. I can't wait to have Doctor Yoon come here for the next scan. I hope I feel the same thing you did."
That reminded you - the gift.
"Oh!" you stood up, "One second."
He was puzzled for a moment, but then you re-entered the living room with the green present in your arms and an eager look on your face. When you first got here, he'd been so caught up trying to figure out what was wrong that he'd totally forgotten about this.
He grinned curiously, "Oh yeah, what's this for?"
You sat beside him on the floor and put it between the two of you, "For you."
He laughed, "But why?"
You shrugged, "You'll see when you open it."
He took one last bite of fried rice and then set his bowl aside. He removed the white bow first and then began to rip the paper off the box. His brows knit together as the item inside gradually became visible. You were pressing your lips together in anticipation.
When the wrapping was fully removed, Jimin read the outside of the box. Shortly, he was looking at you again, eyes spilling over with exuberance. You couldn't hold back the same expression.
You giggled at his speechlessness, "A fetal doppler, so you can hear the heartbeat."
"Y/N," he was beaming down at the box, "I don't even know what to say. Thank you."
You nodded, "I know you felt like you were missing out. With this, you can listen whenever you want. No need to wait for a doctor's appointment."
"Can we try it now?"
You grinned, "That's what I was hoping you'd say."
He shot up, taking the box and your hand with him. You laughed as you were tugged along into his bedroom. You both sat on the bed and he flipped his nightstand lamp on, giving the space adequate yet dim lighting.
You worked together to free the small machine from its encasing, discarding any extra wrappings. It came with a small monitor that would show the heart rate and had a button panel for volume control. It was attached to a cord with a wand at the other end. Separately was a tube of gel, similar to what Doctor Yoon used at your appointment.
It came with the right batteries inside, so all you had to do was turn it on and go for it.
You laid back on the bed, adjusting your pants so the wand could access the right location. You smiled and pointed at the tube of gel, "Okay, take a little bit of the gel and put it right here."
Jimin couldn't believe he was doing this, but he couldn't be more excited. He carefully squirted a good amount of the substance on your skin, "Now what?"
You giggled, "Just turn it on and use the wand to spread it around."
He found the power button on the side of the monitor and pushed it, making the small screen light up. Before placing the wand on your belly, he made sure the volume was turned up. Then he laid on his side next you you, head propped up resting in his palm.
When the wand first made contact with your skin, there was hardly any sound. Thankfully, it only took a few seconds of spreading the gel around to start to hear something.
Jimin's features were fully alert instantly. He found the right spot and held it there, enthralled by the pulsing sound. His lips parted slightly as he stayed in a state of motionless elation. When it finally began to register, he broke into a joyous smile, "Oh my God, there it is!"
You laughed, basking in his happiness, "It sounds just as strong as it was before."
The immense weight of the day was lifted from him. He leaned closer to your belly, keeping the wand in place, "H-Hi, baby. It's Daddy. I hear you now."
You were overflowing with adoration for this man. Once you saw his brown eyes glisten with gleeful tears, you began to get choked up as well. He couldn't help it. In fact, he didn't even realize it was happening until one streak came down his face. All that you'd both been through in the past month, and all that you would go through in the months to come - it would all be unimaginably rewarded when the owner of this precious heartbeat came into the world.
Jimin wiped the tear from his cheek and sniffled, turning his focus to you now, "Thank you, sweetheart. Thank you so much. This isâŚit means everything to me.â
You grinned contentedly, âIt does for me too.â
The two of you listened some more. The thumping was persistent and even. You daydreamed in your own minds, alleviating yourselves of any stress, even if it was just for this one moment.
He laughed, âI canât believe we made this little heart together. You might come to regret giving me this.â
âYou love it that much, huh?â you giggled.
âI wont be able to get enough of it.â
âThatâs okay,â you said, âIt gives me an excuse to come over more often.â
He hummed at the idea, still intently focused on the sight of your exposed abdomen and the sound coming through the monitor. You then watched as his blissful smile faded, and his eyes fell into a contemplative state.
His voice sounded distant as the gears were turning in his mind, âBaby?â
âYeah?â
âWhen is the lease on your apartment up?â
seth says . . . iâve been so busy i forgot how to use tumblr but ! this occurred to me one day last month and i decided to clear my drafts a little but i do plan to make it a full length fic as soon as i have the time to :)
warnings . . . nsfw content, written with male ! reader in mind but can be read as gender neutral, reader wears makeâup, unprotected sex, ghostface ! satoru < halloween costume > word count . . . 320
itâs a quarter past eight p.m. when you knock on satoruâs front door; the sound is quiet, indecisive.
â(name),â but heâs smiling when he opens the door two or three minutes later, âiâm glad you made it --- come in,â stepping aside to let you in.
and, as you cross the threshold into his openâconcept apartment, youâre thrown into a sea of people adorned in costumes; heated bodies grinding against one another to a song you donât know the name of.
âneed a drink?â satoruâs voice again, his lips mere centimetres away from the shell of your ear as he tries to compete with the sheer volume of the music and indistinct chatter surrounding the two of you.
âi⌠iâd like that,â you respond a moment later, projecting your voice and making a face almost immediately but satoru doesnât seem to mind, interlocking your fingers with his and leading you to the kitchen.
there, he pours some type of punch into a red plastic cup and offers it to you, smile still on his face and all.
âyou lookâŚâ he pauses, taking in your costume for the first time since youâd arrived, âgood,â before he raises his gaze to yours, lifting a brow at the glittery makeâup around your eyes.
and, in retrospect, you believe youâd mumbled an awkward âthank youâ in response but itâs all a blur from there on out.
one minute youâre in the kitchen and the next thing you know, youâre in his bathroom, leaning against the countertop and staring at your reflection in the mirror as he pulls his cock out of your winking hole only to push it back in again.
his mask, almost skeletonâlike with its exaggerated eyes and mouth, is tilted to the side, exposing his reddened cheeks and heavyâlidded eyes as his fingers curl around the base of your throat.
although youâre truly no better; mascara and glitter cascading down your cheeks in tandem with your tears.
