I have been betrayed by my darling boyfriend so I am making a callout post on Tumblr Dot Com.

I was playing Cult of the Lamb and got excited about unlocking the Wedding Ritual so I could get two of my followers married to each other. I procrastinated actually doing the ritual for ages because I got distracted with side quests centering around poop and was constantly daydreaming aloud about how cute it was going to be to have these two followers get together. My boyfriend listened to this and excitedly encouraged me to have them marry sooner than I was planning. I finally got around to opening up the Wedding Ritual menu and selected the first individual and was HORRIFIED when the Lamb smooched the follower. I cried out, aghast. My boyfriend began to cackle. He knew. He knew that the Wedding Ritual was not for marrying followers to each other. He encouraged me to unlock that ritual, knowing that I misunderstood its function, and cheered me on to use it as soon as possible. I have never felt so betrayed in all my years. Tragedy has struck the S.S. Sobby today, truly.

General Head canons for Agatha All Along

• Agatha and Rio have a mansion hidden in a forest somewhere. They lived there and raised Nicky there. It’s heavily warded and has gargoyles guarding it. It’s bigger inside then outside due to magic means. Biggest room is the multi-storey library. Has a room dedicated to various magic crafts. (Eg a potions room, ritual room etc).

• Lilia and Agatha can cook really well. Alice is decent enough at cooking. Jen can cook the basics but expects it to be like potions too much. Keep Billy and Rio out of the kitchen. Especially if you don’t want it to burn down.

• Jen and Lilia are best at taking care of themselves. (Heathy sleep schedule; eats 3 meals a day etc). Alice is decent at it but has some off days. Billy is your typical teenager. Agatha can and will go days without sleeping or eating. This is partially due to being on the move for over 3 centuries and never having a stable home. Rio is Rio. She’ll only really eat Agatha’s cooking (she doesn’t have to eat; Agatha is more likely to eat this way) (she also doesn’t have to sleep; Agatha sleeps better when with Rio).

• Agatha drives a 1970 Dodge Charger (purple and black)

• Alice has a Ducati Monster.

• Rio knows all the languages due to being Death. Lilia, Alice and Agatha are multilingual.

• Lilia is like a grandmother figure to the coven. You pick a fight with Lilia you pick a fight with all of them.

• Post Road the coven try to reign in Agatha’s more homicidal tendencies. She begrudgingly becomes more chaotic neutral rather than chaotic evil. (She still kills it’s just not first course of action).

• Agatha makes a suspicious amount of cannibalism jokes. No one can tell if she’s actually joking or not. (Not even Rio).

• Lilia is the one to notice that Agatha doesn’t take care of herself. She’s the one to encourage Agatha to eat at least one meal a day.

• Post Road Jen makes her business more legitimate (no more law suits etc).

• Alice decides to bug Agatha into teaching her magic and witchcraft. She grew up hearing stories of Agatha (both good and bad; Agatha is shorter then she imagined)

• Part of the reason Jen hates Agatha so much is due to the rumours of Agatha trading her son for the Darkhold. Jen was a midwife and has a soft spot for children especially new borns.

• Agatha is actually a very creative and artistic person. In a quiet moment if she’s not learning she’s drawing/painting/doing photography. She has multiple bookcases to photo albums she has filled with pictures she’s taken. She also has paintings around the house; all works she’s done from her memories.

• A downside of Agatha being a creative person is that it 100% influences her darker side. She can get very creative when it comes to murder/causes malevolent chaos. This is made worse after she lose Nicky and Rio and later herself in grief and anger/fury.

• She also has photos from Westview. When Billy starts to remember the Hex she shows him the pictures she took. Later when he reunites with the rest of the Maximoffs she gives the album to them as a gift.

• Alice and Agatha have multiple piercings.

• They both also have tattoos. Agatha has various runes.

Kotoko and her connection to Dante’s Inferno’s Satan

Disclaimer: This is just about symbolism and I know how it sounds but I promise I’m not trying to imply anything or demonize her! I love Kotoko! Ive just been repeatedly noticing details about the parallel for several months now and I just really want to bring it up! This is just an analysis of the details MILGRAM has provided for it. I’m incredibly sorry if I make a mistake!

Kotoko has a lot of parallels to Dante’s Inferno Satan, especially in relation to Es.

To make sure we’re all on the same page, Dante’s Inferno is a Christian poem that outlines the 9 circles of hell. MILGRAM directly references Dante’s Inferno by quoting it in all the t2 door arts.

“Abandon all hope, ye who enter.” A quote derived from a sign at the gate of hell in the poem.

Each ring of Hell contains sinners with different levels of sins, and each ring’s sin was meant to be worse the further inside you go. Ive seen a couple theories that each prisoner correlates with a specific ring of hell. (Ex: Haruka is ring 1, Limbo; Yuno is ring 2, lust; etc)

But Dante’s Inferno only outlines 9 rings, what about our 10th prisoner, Kotoko?

While it could be that she’s again the “outsider” to the other prisoners, the last section of the 9th ring of Hell is significant because it is the center of Hell, containing Satan. So it could be reasonably argued that Kotoko correlates with it.

MILGRAM already has a TON of religious references. One that I’ve seen pointed out is how it seems the cover art of each novel is a reference to a famous Christian art piece.

The Es in each novel seems to be where Jesus relatively is. Remember that Jesus is both the son of God AND God. God gives sinners their judgements which sounds very similar to Es and how they're giving the prisoners (the human sinners) their verdicts.

Plus, the quote Milgram quotes is on the doors the prisoners are entering, and in Dante’s inferno, it’s on the gate of hell so you can compare or theorize that MILGRAM is a parallel to (or straight up is) purgatory. And Es, being the one who decides the verdict, parallels God.

Also, her t2 VD is named “YONAH,” which is the masculine version of the name Jonah. Not only does this relate to her themes of masculinity again, Jonah is a name that originates from Hebrew origins which means “dove.”

It is also a reference to the book of Jonah. A main theme of this book is “Jonah wants God to operate on his timeline [...] He wanted God to dole out punishment on his clock instead of according to God's plan. Yet God showed Jonah that in his infinite wisdom, he can't and will not be rushed.” Which is pretty much exactly what happens in YONAH, and also once again compares Es to God.

Dante’s Inferno’s Satan was an angel, a splendid being, apparently the most perfect of God's creatures… an “Angel of light.” We/Es deemed Kotoko innocent in t1. She had the highest innocent percentage in t1 too because a lot of people thought her murder was justified. You know, the most perfect of God’s creatures. The most perfect out of the prisoners.

“We really can work together.”

But then Satan tried to usurp God.

“If you don’t have the strength on your own, let me take care of it. Es! I can do it in MILGRAM!”

Kotoko wants to be the prison guard because Es isn’t capable in her eyes.

Satan was ultimately sent to Hell and punished as "the ultimate sinner" for his betrayal of trying to usurp God.

We are now punishing Kotoko for her attempts to judge the prisoners herself and “usurp” Es. It works even better now that she has the highest guilty percentage in all of MILGRAM so far as the “ultimate sinner.”

As a lot know, Fuuta also has tons of religious references too. (Ex. His VD is titled Baptism by Fire) By him also passing judgements onto people, you could say that he was trying to play God.

What is that saying about us, the audience, then? And our parallel/foil to Fuuta/Kotoko?

Dante’s Inferno as a whole is very much based around the idea of “evil will be punished,” which not only encapsulates Kotoko’s ideals but MILGRAM’s as well. It makes sense that MILGRAM says that Kotoko is a perfect parallel to the facility.

(I also wanna mention that there's something that could be said about the holy trinity in relation to Es + the audience + jackalope. For example, how Jesus is God in the flesh and Es is the audience "in the flesh," by acting as a personified version of us to interact with the "human sinnners" but I feel like I might be going into tinfoil hat territory.)

Something I really love about Nerdy Prudes Must Die is how it completely subverts the ‘uncool kid joins the popular kids’ trope.

Typically with a story that has a similar premise (a friend or a love interest in a higher place on the school hierarchy from the ‘uncool’ character) I feel like a lot of the time we see the same thing happen over and over: the uncool kid finds a place in the popular kids, and starts behaving like them, treating everybody they used to hang out with as below them. If it’s ‘resolved,’ it’s by the main character realizing the popular kids are actually shitty people that they don’t want to hang out with. Even if at the end they go back to the uncool kids, that pipeline and change still happens, and it’s central to the plot.

And that’s certainly what I thought we were going to see in Nerdy Prudes. After Pete’s phone call with Steph (‘just these two fuckin’ nerds who won’t leave me alone!’), I was genuinely, actually starting to dread seeing Pete go through that change and start to treat Richie and Ruth like shit. I can even go so far to say I was expecting him to, given his newfound boost of confidence and thinking he’s impervious to even Max Jägerman!

But Nerdy Prudes doesn’t do that at ALL.

Pete never rises to the status of ‘popular kid’. Instead, Steph is the one to join the other group.

It’s clear that she’s certainly reluctant to do so— she’s been conditioned by the school environment and her popular kid status to think these kids are losers and Weird and uncomfortable to be around. But she’s also reluctant to actually be a shitty person to them, especially after she starts falling for Pete.

Speaking of Pete, he really is her link into the group, just like the role of ‘popular kid’ usually is played in this genre of storyline. But it’s handled a lot differently, and the way it is fits so well into the plot.

The only reason that Steph is willing to join the group of nerds in the first place is, of course, to get revenge on Max. But at the start of the musical, it’s clear that she doesn’t even know the magnitude of what Max does to the nerds— she straight up asks Pete who he’s running from right before Literal Monster, for Pete’s sake (ha do you see what I did there—). I don’t think she’d have to ask if she knew how much of a monster Max really was. Seeing what he did to Pete was what snapped her into that realization of how fucked up Max’s behavior is (and that nobody is going to punish him for it), which is why she joins the group.

‘But Scramble where’s your Evidence that just sounds like a theory?’

Bear with me here while I talk about Bully the Bully.

Bully the Bully (and the scene prior) is actually the single greatest indicator of how Steph’s opinion of the nerds shifts. At first, she looks and sounds like she absolutely does not want to be there. She takes a place standing FAR away from the group—

— and retorts back at things they’re saying multiple times, insulting them a little, and just generally looking down on them. (‘God, you guys are nerds.’).

She comments on how she thinks the things the nerds are doing are weird (such as the way Grace spins around) and seems very resistant to participating. She still looks down on most of them, and she doesn’t even try to hide it.

But as the song goes on, she starts getting a little more into it. Grace swings her into the group, and she starts participating just a little, joining in on the lineup, laughing a little. And while she doesn’t contribute her own solo line on the rest of the ‘fealty, a duty’ bit like everybody else does, she joins in on Pete’s part once she sees that he’s participating, too. And she’s starting to smile a little!

She starts joining in on the antics a little more after that, and this time on her own! She’s genuinely having fun!! All of a sudden she’s alert and a little more enthusiastic about this, starting to match the energy of the nerds, because she’s realizing that it isn’t so bad after all, and actually that they’re fun to be around!

I really like this sequence here— she’s fully involved at this point, but is thrown off when she sees the other nerds all of a sudden improvising with the moves —

—And tries to come up with one of her own the next time around.

Even if she doesn’t get one in, it’s still clear that she wants to be a part of it, too.

My favorite part however is when she joins in on the ‘bean school’ bit, where she seems a little not sure of what they’re doing & hesitant to do it, but tries to go along with it nonetheless, just like the improv poses— no matter how odd and random it seems to her at first.

It’s a sharp contrast to how she’d been at the start of the song, separated from the group and looking down on them for doing these weird little things. But by the end, she’s realizing how enjoyable this group really is! She’s dancing around with them, fully and eagerly joining in on what they’re doing, having fun just being goofy and weird! And she doesn’t see it as a bad thing anymore!

(Okay Scramble note: while making this gif I noticed that Steph is actually the first to initiate the snapping at the end WAAAA… I love the little details in this show. reminder to me to make a post compiling some of my favorites because there are so many I’ve noticed on my rewatches...)

The transition of Steph’s attitude toward the nerds is absolutely delightful. There’s none of that ‘returning to your own position in the heirarchy’ stuff, either. She’s made herself comfortable as a part of the gang, and she enjoys it!

While Steph is the biggest and most relevant, there is actually another (short-lived) example of this— with Max Jägerman, right before his death.

Max is the antagonist of the show. Hell, there’s an entire song at the beginning of the musical dedicated to establishing how much of a terrifying monster he is, and how all the nerds fear him. He even says these things with his own mouth, and he says them with glee. He’s proud to be a bully that people fear, he’s proud that people cower down around him, and he’s absolutely not afraid to be horrible toward those he deems below him.

But after Max is told that the nerds put this together purely to scare him— and that he deserves it— his demeanor towards the nerds changes ENTIRELY. All of a sudden, he’s not the literal monster that he’s explicitly been shown to be up until this point. I’m not saying that ‘he was like this all along’ or whatever— he very much does not regret anything he’s done, and does not regret the person he is, and still is that person. But for a single moment, he sheds the god complex, and for the first time, treats the nerds like equals— and not even in the way Kyle and Jason are ‘equals’.

He’s genuinely excited and happy about all this! He expresses how he really liked how they went about this, and compliments Ruth!

And he’s not bringing them up to his level, either— he is meeting them where they’re at. Similarly to Steph, he’s starting to be okay with some of the aspects of how the nerds behave, and even finding it fun in his own way. Even if the intent was to scare him, he likes the way they executed it, and takes it as something they did to make him happy. Obviously he never gets to have a chance at adjusting to it like Steph did, but hey, I’m counting it as a small example regardless!

(And this all is not to discount the fact that he’d very proudly done— and continued to do— fucked up things. he’s.. not a decent person regardless of this scene AJDHAHRHA im not exactly a max redemption arc truther. but that just kind of showed that he had the Potential to adjust. and then he got killed and turned evil again </3)

Anyway. Really delightful how they executed this trope subversion, and I’m so happy that they did. Not only does it help to emphasize that these characters care about each other/are genuine to each other (especially in the case of Steph and Pete, and Pete and the other nerds) but it really feels a lot neater and nicer to watch than it would’ve been if they’d gone the route with the trope as it’s usually played!

Arcane S2 drops tomorrow, time for last minute predictions

Probable: it's going to be amazing, will not be as good S1, mainly because S1 was peak with 8 years of work behind it, but S2 won't be far behind in quality. It was worked on the same time as S1 but also probably needed just as much cooking timebut also I do not trust studios to make good decisions after a show is super successful in regards to franchised characters (HotD, Mando, Ouat <- all shows that dropped in quality after S1 to me, most likely due to studio execs weaseling in some way)

[You walk up to Yuma.]

Yuma: Oh, it’s you. What’s up?

[You say that you wanted to see how Yuma was doing.]

Yuma: Aren’t you tired?

[You tell him honestly.]

Yuma: Heh. Figures. We’re in the same boat. Well, about this… The soil’s so bad here that even if you properly take care of the garden ‘n try to grow somethin’, only desert vegetation could survive here. The soil’s pretty much dead. I actually wanted to try growin’ those seedlings over there, but I gave up.

[Yuma sits down on the ground.]

Yuma: Ah… And the garden was thrivin’ only a little while ago.

[You ask him whether it has to do with Karl Heinz’ death.]

Yuma: Well, yeah. This castle was like an extension of Himself. I know I pledged my allegiance to protect this place earlier, but I’m already feelin’ anxious. Relyin’ too much on a parent ends up bitin’ you in the ass after all.

[You pick up some gardening tools.]

Yuma: What’re you doin’? I just told you, the soil’s done for.

[You quote what Azusa and Ruki were saying earlier.]

Yuma: Heh. Hahaha! Well, you’re right. Can’t knock it ‘til you try it.

[Yuma joins you to till the soil and plant the seedling.]

01:57 Yuma: Thanks. It’s not like me to be all gloomy and pessimistic. ‘N to have you worry about me.  Alright. Now we just pour some water on it.

[You were going through the soil with your hands, but you end up cutting your finger.]

Yuma: What’s wrong? Oh. Ah, there’s broken shards of something in the soil. C’mere.

[Yuma pulls you with him to the sink to clean the wound.]

Yuma: This is Eden soil, so there aren’t any weird bacteria here, but… Underestimating these things won’t do us any good. Well, this should be clean enough. And lastly—

[Yuma puts your wounded finger into his mouth.]

Yuma: Your blood’s really sweet. Heh. I don’t think I could ever get enough of it. I want more. You owe me now, anyway. I won’t let you say no.

[Yuma bites you.]

Yuma: It’s your fault for having such delicious blood. I’m not of much help, am I? I only just healed your wound, ‘n now I’m hurtin’ you again. Heh. Thanks for the blood. 

[Yuma pulls away from you.]

Yuma: Agh… I’m getting sleepy. I’m goin’ back to my room. Sleep tight. And thanks for the help.

[Yuma walks off. Some time passes, and the scene shifts to Ruki bursting into your room while you were sleeping.]

[You sit upright.]

Ruki: I’m sorry to bother you while you were resting, but there’s no time. I need you to be quiet and come with me.

[You walk over to Ruki. He grabs your hand.]

Ruki: We need to hurry. I don’t have time to explain. Let’s go!

[The two of you run off.]

Ruki: Just now, I received word from a familiar that the Vibora are heading towards Eden. They must be looking to conquer this castle or to destroy the morale of the Vampire race. It took them long enough, and yet this is still quite sudden to us.

In any case, you need to hide. Aside from this castle, they must intend to capture you as well.

[You’re surprised and ask him why.]

Ruki: Word is spreading fast about the Adam’s Apple Plan. Everyone now knows that Karl Heinz has recognised you as the Sacrificial Bride of the Demon World. Some want to use you to ascend to the throne.

[You tell him you would never agree to such a thing.]

Ruki: I know that, but so long as that extraordinary blood runs through your veins, nothing else will matter to them.

[The two of you stop before a large door.]

Ruki: Alright. This is it. 

[Ruki opens the door for you.]

Ruki: Get inside.

[The door slams closed.]

Ruki: This is the Room of Time. You could see it as Karl Heinz’ living room, in a sense. This is the most secure room he had, located in the innermost part of the castle. You should lay low here while the commotion subsides. The rest of us will fight to protect Eden, like we discussed yesterday.

[You ask Ruki if they have any forces backing them up.]

06:12 Ruki: Not at all. It’s just the four of us. Not even the Sakamaki family knows what has become of this castle.

[You ask Ruki if there’s anything you can do.]

Ruki: All you can do is stay here, We have no reason to fight out there if we don’t know that you’re safe. Heh. Don’t look at me like that.

[Ruki suddenly pulls you into an embrace.]

Ruki: You were about to start whining. I know. Let me hold you. Just for a moment. I can’t let my brothers see me like this, after all.

[You stroke Ruki’s back.]

Ruki: Heh. Stop it. I’m not a child. It feels quite nice, though. Don’t tell the others, alright? Take this as a sign of my gratitude.

[Ruki bites you. It takes you off-guard.]

Ruki: Don’t act so surprised. This is more of a reward to you than anything else, after all.

[Ruki bites you again.]

Ruki: Ah… That’s enough playing around for now. I have to go back. You know what to do, right? Don’t leave this room under any circumstance. When things calm down outside, I’ll knock on the door four times. That’s when you can come back out. I’ll see you then.

[Ruki walks to the door and opens it.]

Ruki: Goodbye, Eve.

[Ruki closes the door behind him, leaving you all alone. The scene shifts to the brothers’ inner monologues.]

08:50 Ruki: Just like that, we went to meet an unknown fate.

Kou: I wonder if He expected things would turn out like this. However, we strongly believe this isn’t a trial that we can’t overcome. 

Yuma: We’ll protect Eden… and we’ll protect Eve. In the end, we probably won’t be able to obtain the Apple, but…

Azusa: Still… we have no choice but to move forward.

Ruki: As we dreamt of a new dawn breaking from the East of Eden, the next chapter in our lives silently began. Nobody knows what’s waiting for us on the other side of this fight.
