Making Covers for Fanfictions #3: The Secret to Flying

Hi, definetly didn't forget to do these for a while! Fun twist this time is that it's a fic that's still being written.

(aka, like Top Gun but it's not. We got planes, we got dystopian city, we got the GoodTimesWithScar, and we got angst.)

I spent way too much time and had way too much fun making this one, and I regret nothing.

I also got to practice weird head angles, buildings, and face contour. None of which are things I do often.

I can't get over his face, I'm actually really proud of it.

Also, gold textured stuff my beloved. (idk why i went so crazy for the texturing on the title and not the other gold stuff)

I had a lot of inspo for this cover!! I wanted it to have influence of a classic Spider-Man and Batman cover while also still being my art style. imagine my surprise to learn that Spider-Man has a cover similar to Dick Grayson...

Soooo yeah!! spent 9 hours on this cover and i'm glad to finally have it out. i hope to do more as the story progresses

I often think about how incredibly fit Natsume must be, yokai-induced sickliness aside. He spends 75% of his life running from yokai, through forests and mountains and all kinds of shit. Every day is a marathon for him, he arguably gets too much exercise (which might contribute to collapsing from exhaustion a lot. over exercising isn't good for you).

But imagine what a fast runner he must be. He's able to sometimes lose yokai despite their supernatural speed etc. And he's been doing this since he's a child? I just want an episode where it's time for track in gym class and everyone's expecting the kid who's constantly sick and exhausted to be the slowest one, but instead he just passes them all at warp speed. WHEN did he have time to get this in shape, isn't he always inches away from keeling over, his class in chaos. Nishimura and Kitamoto are the least surprised since they've seen him running before, but even they didn't think he was THIS fast., wow, what natural talent.

Actually, there should be a running gag where one of the many stressors Natsume faced over the years is track team coaches trying to constantly recruit him in most of the schools he goes to, so he's constantly trying to hide how fast he is because he can't be a burden and have the people he's living with PAY SPORTS EXPENSES omg :(( and also he wouldn't be able to show up for most of the meetings, so. And also he doesn't like most team sports (the real reason).

He's managed to keep it mostly under wraps in Yatsuhara, but then one day it's the sports day episode and Nishimura trips while carrying the baton as they always do and starts crying so Natsume's like "siiiiiiiigh fine don't worry Nishimura I've got this" and suddenly he's at the finish line. Thus his hellish lot of being hounded by the track coach begins anew, thanks a lot Nishimura.

I'm not even exaggerating when I say that these Drarry fics will always be famous to me! I believe I first read these around 2018, and I've reread them multiple times since 🤣 They're hits on AO3 for a reason and I cannot recommend them enough.

Making Covers for Fanfictions #2: and the universe shifts

Ok, I can't not do ATUS. If I can consider there to be classics in fanfiction, this is a classic in regards to Hermitcraft.

The funny part about this was trying to figure out how to draw a stained glass window. (You would think I'd know, given how many I've seen, lol.) But the lighting was super fun.

(Every time I try and draw Crown, they look like they have the strangest hairline ever XD)

It's definetly better than the last time I tried to draw this window, which was like 3 years ago.

So I've been making my way through all of @letteredlettered 's Drarry work, and I was so taken by The Boy Who Only Lived Twice that I yearned for it to have cover art on my kindle. So I made it!!

I took heavy inspiration from the original posters for James Bond You Only Live Twice, a lot of visual nods in here for it.

If you haven't read it, please do. It took my breath away. It's perfect. I've read it twice in the last week.
