Marvel was all over feminism and girl power when it made money and good press in the 2010. But now that we evolved from muse cheering about just having a woman on screen at all to wanting them to be treated with the same care and respect as the male counter parts, it’s getting really awkward.

Because they’re risking to offend their safest target audience (cis straight men) by making Agatha a lesbian and introducing Death as WLW.

If I told my friends’ bf who has watched AAA too that ACTUALLY Rio is Nicky’s father and they were married and lived in a cottage together he’d be like LOL no they weren’t they didn’t show any of that. Was reading thru the tag and I'm curious now, on the off chance that Alastor IS able to break his curse, how would the other "love interests" react? I'm just imagining the kind of horror scenario for certain characters realizing that they have been doing some pretty heinous things to Alastor, versus some characters who, while not technically under the curse, still hold a really deranged torch for him . (It's vox.) But yeah, just curious about your thoughts.

I wouldn't say it's an off chance for it to happen (I'm definitely the type for as much as I like darker content, I do tend to need SOME sort of happy/bittersweet ending to be satisfied typically. There are some exceptions, but dead dove stuff does tend to need that for me) I don't remember who I did and didn't talk about, so forgive me for any repeats.

Everyone more or less feels immense guilt and horror for what they've done, simple as that (with a few exceptions of course). But I think most people in the hellaverse really aren't into the whole "unwanted attention" thing, so I think most would feel like shit about it. If not just sorta uncomfortable that they felt so strongly that way about THE Radio Demon.

Charlie would try to do as much as she could to make it up to Alastor, sorta too much honestly. I can see her accidentally being TOO reminiscent of "Obsessed Charlie" for Alastor's liking with her sorta hovering in concern and trying to overcompensate for what she's done. So Alastor wouldn't want to spend time with her as much. Vaggie would be the opposite to Charlie: Actively avoiding Alastor due to both guilt and genuine discomfort with him. I can see her having worries about actually being like that, or a potential to be like her obsessed version, due to how she knows she has the potential to be a murderous exterminator. But it's something she would bottle up and I can see her actively denying it as something she'd ever do with the forced fem, traps, and such. I can honestly see her and Alastor yelling about this, Alastor telling her to just ACCEPT that yes, she did do the awful things. It was her at the end of the day, even if a twisted version. Which, while that certainly can be up to debate, is more or less how Alastor saw the curse: Everyone WAS themselves, just a darker twisted versions of themselves.

Angel would feel like so much shit just because he'd feel what he did was a touch too close to what Valentino does to him, even if it's just one thing. I can imagine him having some underlying fear that he HAS done something to Alastor, but he was unable to remember it because of how often he got drugged/drunk WITH Alastor. It could certainly form a worry that Angel would have to deal with frequently "being another Valentino", which everyone has to assure him he isn't. Husk still would not like Alastor, but he also would not at all be happy with how he treated the guy. I feel like Husk would be embarrassed in addition to feeling guilty about his Obsessed-self, just due to it seeming kind of pathetic (the guy is in love with the man who owns his soul and treats him like shit is not exactly love story material). Husk knows when to keep his distance and let Alastor come to him if there are any points that his boss needs to talk it out or a begrudging shoulder to lean on. I can also see him asking if Alastor would rather make his own drink rather than let Husk do it, just so Alastor knows Husk hasn't put anything in as I think Alastor would still have a lot of paranoia post-curse in this ending. Husk still doesn't really LIKE Alastor, but he would certainly pity the guy. I think he'd honestly have mixed feelings about it because, Husk seems like the type to be like "Yeah, Alastor deserves the worst", but then also seems like he still wouldn't exactly wish the worst thing to happen (like unwanted advances or assault) to happen on his worst enemy. Funnily enough, where in canon Husk and Angel bond over being soul bound, I feel like in this ending of this AU they'd bond over feeling like shit for drugging Alastor and competing to do so when they were obsessed. I don't know if they'd have the same relationship as canon, but I do think they'd form some sort of friendship. I can see them trying to keep the other in check with the Obsession "withdrawals" or lingering effects. Like if Angel sees Husk unconsciously putting something in Al's drink, he stops him. Same with Husk, if he sees Angel doing something close to his old antics, he calls him out. I think everyone in the hotel tries to keep the others on track with that sort of thing, but Husk and Angel forming an agreement to help each other with it is something I can see happening.

Niffty is... well, she's Niffty. She's by no means dumb (at least I think she isn't personally, but she was described as not being very bright) but let us be real: she's a masochist and arguably a sadist to some extent. I think in all honesty, she'd be hard to read on how she felt post-Obsession. I can see her making comments about being jealous of Alastor having the curse ("Though, I could do without the girls. But all those bad boys-"). I think Niffty would more or less carry herself similarly as she does in the show, and I can see Alastor both appreciating and not appreciating it. On one hand, he does like seeing Niffty just as herself in full force and not receiving the pity party everyone else has for him. However, Niffty doesn't deny the things she's done in the past, and Alastor respects that as well. What he DOESN'T like is the total lack of awareness of disliking touch. While in canon he canonically doesn't like to be touched by others with the exception of Niffty, in this AU Alastor REALLY can't stand touch even by Niffty. I'm sure you can assume why. So Niffty just climbing on his person isn't something he's as tolerant of as his canon self. Niffty for the most part brushes off the obsession part. I can see her getting some moments of grief for Alastor, but I dunno. We'll have to see her more in season 2 to get a better grasp of her character, we just haven't seen her actually feel bad or have any real empathy yet so I'm not sure how accurate her just moving on from the situation is. I can see her having some guilt, I do, just not as immense as some of the others.

In this AU, Lucifer and Alastor never really got to disliking each other as seen in canon, at least on Lucifer's side. While Alastor was genuinely antagonistic to Lucifer, Lucifer during the curse was antagonistic in a more flirtatious way. As a reminder, Lucifer was under the impression that Alastor liked him as well and was just playing "hard to get" with him, enjoying the chase. Plus, Lucifer just didn't feel threatened as Charlie's father by Alastor because 1. He, in this au, would LIKE Alastor to be a father to Charlie. Just on account that he'd be in a relationship with Lucifer as well. 2. Alastor acts less "fatherly" towards Charlie in this AU. He doesn't even try to act it on the account that he knows any "affection" towards Charlie would've been taken as an affirmation of his "feelings" for her. And he didn't want to play into that to avoid any future uncomfortable scenarios. So post-obsession Lucifer I think, while definitely would get more genuinely mad about any off-hand comments made by Alastor about Lucifer's poor father role in Charlie's life, I don't think he dislikes Alastor as much as in canon. He would feel super guilty about it I think and genuinely try to give an olive branch of sorts to Alastor. I can see him withdrawing and keeping to himself as I'm guessing that's his go-to for dealing with situations like this (like think how Lilith's leaving made it so he kinda just stopped talking to Charlie and shut himself in). He'd feel super awkward with Alastor though, but I also imagine him to have the least amount of "lapses" into his obsession self out of everyone. So I can see, while not exactly being a fan of the king, Alastor going to spend time with Lucifer more often than you would think. I can actually see on one occasion Alastor still being so tired from being paranoid about the curse and just generally exhausted that he does actively try to push himself onto Lucifer, but Lucifer while very confused and awkward at first, does get to be stern with Alastor in that: - He wouldn't force a relationship Alastor doesn't truly want onto Alastor - Lucifer just isn't into him. I personally HC Lucifer as only being into women, so I lowkey would apply it to this AU, but that little nugget of knowledge can be left out for anyone who does not care for that idea, haha. Funnily enough, I can see Alastor and Lucifer growing to have a fairly close relationship post-obsession compared to most others. There's definitely an irony in me saying THESE two would have probably the best relationship concerning Alastor post-obsession. If you know you know lol

I don't think Vox or Valentino would feel bad. Velvette wouldn't either, but Vox already has a clear beef with Alastor (I imagine he'd just blame Al for making him act a fool), and Valentino is Valentino. While I don't think he'd be a fan having been "drugged" in a sense to love Alastor, I don't think that he'd be upset about his own actions. More than likely, Valentino would be curious about the curse and still want Alastor in bed with him as one of his whores. He's just, y'know... not as overt about it anymore? Especially since Alastor's energy would recover a lot more in this ending not having to deal with unwanted affection all the time anymore, so Alastor would be more likely to physically retaliate to that sort of thing. Velvette I think just would be frustrated and maybe a little grossed out that she "wanted" some old fad like Alastor. Of course, if she had managed to get him and dress him up like a doll for a bit, I'm sure she'd be interested in having him as some sort of model remembering how good he looked.

I was actually thinking about this and was like "damn we lowkey don't know much about Mahiru before Guren's epic sophomore year of high school". So... why not talk about it?

So here's MY takes!

Mahiru 1000% is on the National Honors Society, like that girl has a 4.0 GPA unweighted and is slaying through her years

though I think that her grades might've dropped significantly because of the fact that she was slowly planning to betray the Hiiragis, and despite how she's inherently "perfect", she can't be so perfect to the point where she can juggle all these plans

I think in the class ranking, Mahiru would be 1st and Shinya 2nd. I feel like it would be a part of the message of his character. He desires to one up everyone to prove that he's not worthless, and he isn't. He fought very hard to get to the point in which he is today.

I feel like Mahiru would be rather popular at school, but people wouldn't come up to her and talk to her. They're too scared because of her status as a Hiiragi. (I actually can't remember if this part is canon or not, but if it is, I agree) It's reflected by the way people treated Guren for his lower status.

Mahiru herself is rather emotionally tender despite being skilled in communicating her thoughts with others and conducting plans. She was always soft hearted. She more or less had to harden her heart to be able to go down the darker path she sought.

If you were to ask her about herself, she wouldn't be able to tell you. Superficial things, like what she likes and doesn't like. She couldn't tell you. She never had the time to think about these things because she was so busy perfecting herself and her persona. Picture perfect. The way everything should be. Right?

She is a lonely person. Despite being surrounded by people who want to help her, or be her friend. She often finds that she isolates herself from others, not because she doesn't want to talk to them, but because she feels that she does not fit in.

I know that Yuu is gender neutral in the game for many reasons so it makes me wonder if Yuu was a girl in Conan would that change the dialogues and the way the characters interact with her?

Like not a major change to the main story or turning the game into otome but some small ones like in some characters interaction with Leona when stepping on his tail he won't want to beat us (because of the respect woman thing lol) in book one or Deuce being shy in the beginning of their friendship.

Hmm... For the most part, I honestly don't really think so? Cater still calls Yuu cute, Azul is still pretty polite, etc. Rook still waxes poetic and creepily recites your sizes, etc. regardless of gender. At best, maybe some of those traits would be exaggerated a little more or expanded on to suit the scenario?? Like maybe Ace would initially tease fem!Yuu about being at an all-boys school or something, isn't she bothered by it? But I really doubt that anyone would be tripping over themselves to protect or befriend fem!Yuu or anything, especially when most at NRC are primarily concerned with their own interests. Most of the characters aren't noted to treat women particularly differently than other genders. We also don't get to see the NRC students interacting with girls around their age either, so it's hard to discern how they'd be with them. I think even the "Deuce being shy in the beginning of the friendship" headcanon comes from a perspective colored by writings in fandom; Deuce in canon doesn't really seem to demonstrate major issues interacting with girls, at least not that I can recall. At best, he expresses surprise when Grim mistakes Epel for a girl and fails to romance the Ghost Bride (he freezes up and his mind blanks; it’s difficult to say this is how he’d act around most women or if he just acts this way due to the demands of the situation). Deuce does mention in Ace’s Suitor Suit vignettes that he mainly interacts with his mom, as most girls—and guys—would run away from him due to how intimidating he was. He says he gets nervous about hurting girls’ feelings, though this is in reference to faking a proposal and not romance or interactions in general. I think if we eliminated romantic interest altogether--because, to be clear, one girl in a cast of mainly guys is NOT always meant to be romantic or a harem--most of the cast would be their usual selves, if not maybe a little more polite due to how they’ve been socialized to see women as the “fairer” sex. For example, Riddle, Epel, and Jade underestimate Sally, though this isn’t clear if it’s gender-based or because they sympathize with her poor home life. They may also be instances of the guys not really knowing how to deal with girls? For example, Trey fails to help Sally up after she has fallen (which Sebek chastises him for); Trey later admits that he doesn't know many women beyond his mother and sister who is 4 years younger than him. Because of this, he says it may be that he was subconsciously nervous to interact with her.

The exception to this, many would point out, is Leona, who comes from a country in which women are respected. The strange thing is, whenever this point is mentioned, I always see people speaking about it in relation to Leona and Leona only, even though Ruggie and Rook also come from the Sunset Savanna (so technically those latter two would also theoretically be respectful to women). Now, there's a lot of discussion in the fandom about just how far Leona's "feminism" (a term used by fandom, never said in official materials) stretches. The most extreme of takes paint Leona as a misandrist who actively hates on or mistreats men while upholding women as superiors. And that... Well, I don't agree with this interpretation whatsoever. Yes, Leona no doubt respects women and is more likely to listen to them if they ask him to do something (for example, attending a party for a female painting in Cater's School Uniform vignette or taking a picture of himself in his robes for his sister-in-law in his own Ceremonial Robes vignettes). However, he won't just keel over and do whatever is asked of him simply because it is coming from a woman (think back to Ghost Marriage; he was still pretty pissed off when Eliza slapped him), and nor is he shown to disparage his own gender.

Rather than putting women on a pedestal, I think it would be more accurate to say that Leona doesn't underestimate women or think lesser of them because of their gender. (If you're interested my detailed breakdown of "feminist" Leona, check out this analysis.) For example, while his classmates worry for Sally's wellbeing in Lost in the Book with Nightmare Before Christmas, Leona lauds Sally's cunning and ability to save herself. We also get a pretty good look of this in the Episode of Savanaclaw manga, which features a female Yuu. (And before anyone says, "Yuuka could be hiding the fact she's a girl!", take a look at these panels. She is clearly not making an effort to hide her chest and given her nonchalant personality + ability to physically defend herself, Yuuka has no in-universe reason to be hiding her gender. The other students probably don’t bring up that she’s a girl because she’s already been around at NRC for roughly a month at this point and have likely acclimated to her presence. Besides, people don’t normally bring up “well, that’s a girl” out of the blue in everyday conversations.)

Riddle seems to treat Yuuka the same as the gender-neutral Yuu in the game; he still adjusts her tie for her without any flourishes, flinching, etc.

If you read the Episode of Savanaclaw altogether, pretty much all of the characters treat Yuuka like another fellow student and not "oh, this is a woman and a woman has to be treated differently".

Leona stops Savanaclaw mobs from beating up Yuuka and co., but this isn't significant because he does the same for gender-neutral Yuu in the game. It's not "I stopped the guys from hurting a woman" behavior. And get this: Leona still challenges Yuuka and co. to a magift/spelldrive game and he STILL kicks their asses and expects them to get up for more. He doesn't give even Yuuka special treatment or leniency because she is a woman. He wants her to play him again, the same as the other students (who are all guys). It is Jack who has to intervene and stop his dorm leader from bullying Yuuka and co.—but again, this isn’t a change from the game, as Jack always steps in anyway.

Yuuka recognizes Leona as "the garden caretaker" from back when she accidentally stepped on his tail. Unfortunately, we don't get to see if Leona attempted to attack her from this instance. It could be that the manga excluded it because he didn't try or it could be that he did (if the magift/spelldrive demands were of any indication) and the manga just didn't have time to show it in full. Buuut we should also note that Leona makes exceptions to his own... "moral code" when it is convenient for him. For example, he tells his students to not pick on outsiders but then still wails on us through sport. When Yuu steps on his tail in the garden, he says, "Well, can't say it'd be much fun to hurt someone so helpless," but then adds, "Still gonna do it, though."

My point is, this is the closest we'll get to "how would the boys treat a fem!Yuu", and that's what I'll leave you with.

(his words not mine) It’s literally a ten minute conversation where you have to explain to him that you wanted to this because you care about his skinny ass. And after he gets that through his thick ass head and into his big ass brain, does he explode into hot, hot red. Despite being a literal genius, Idia’s social department (self-esteem? self-love?) is severely understaffed. I don’t think Idia’s all that picky when it comes to food, he’s just not used to eating food out of his comfort zone. But batting your pretty eyes and asking ‘pretty please?’ is enough to get him to bend over.

Typically he’s often left unsatisfied, his stomach growling with lingering hunger after his meals. But for some odd reason, every time he’s chowing down on your food, he’s satisfied. His stomach is silent but his chest is warm and fuzzy like dandelions. Are you sure you don’t have any magic? Sebek decides to keep his curiosity to himself. Just like the rest of diasomnia, you’ll find yourself faced with a box filled to the brim with food courtesy of the blushing, stuttering fae in front of you.

⋆ Very rarely does Rollo find time to sit down and eat. Between his studies, his duties as student president and world domination (kidding), he is much too busy to have anything more than a piece of bread and glass of water. You’ll have to drag him to sit his ass down to eat and even then he’ll be scolding you for messing up his schedule. But when the warm and homey scent of your food reaches his nose, his voice falls and mind clears. And all of a sudden, he’s very much aware of the ache in his bones, the growling of his stomach and the tight ringing of his head. Rollo listens to you tell him you made this just for him, heaviness hits his chest at the concern lacing your voice. Any other time he’d scoff and leave, but this is you. His friend. mithan is such a sad relationship because they loved each other so much and that ended up being the reason their relationship fell apart (sort of... its not like the broke up... ethan kinda just straight up died)

its not a bad thing! well i mean it is but it doesnt make her some evil witch who is somehow worse than the guy how made a werewolf american ninja warrior. its just a major character flaw she has! which is good! mia being a flawed person who makes mistakes and morally gray decisions make her a more interesting person!

she is selfish in the way that she wants to keep her family with her no matter the cost. even if it means lying to ethan about her job so that he wont think different of her. here is a interrogation from the re7 DLC, which is easy to miss!

she isnt necessarily trying to apologize for the things she has done, she is more of a, "u wont need to forgive me in the first place if we just forget it all and move on"

she doesn't try to redeem herself for what she has done, she tries to move on and return to the normal life that she wants so bad. which is fine! everyone copes a different way and she has to right to move on from her trauma. the problem that lies in this is that she has a shared trauma with ethan who still has no idea what went on in dulvey and still effects him till the present (he is mold! this is a important thing to know! most people would want to know if they were a walking corpse)

she played a direct part in what happened in dulvey, and im not referring to the email, she did not send that. she never wanted ethan to come in the first place. she tried her best to send a video to him, begging him to forget about her because she wanted to protect him, BUT it didnt send.

he got involved because she was involved. its honestly a series of really really unfortunate events.

THOUGH! she did know what she was getting into. im tired of seeing the narrative that mia was innocent and didnt know what was going on or was simply a bystander. she knew what she was doing, she knew eveline was a bioweapon, she knew eveline was a child. she used a MACHINE GUN! she knows how to use weapons and was obviously trained for it.

she tried her best to keep everybody out of the mess, ex: warning the bakers not to take them in, warning ethan not to find her, sacrificing herself for ethan in the later half of re7

but again, those are the consequences of HER actions

her consequences just happen to get really big and end up hitting ethan on the head like a metal sheet 😭

their relationship is really so interesting, it makes me really sad to think about sometimes 😭they both went through something that nobody else would ever understand, in the end they really only have each other. they get moved to an entire different country and the dulvey incident gets covered up with a "gas leak"

its really tragic because their marriage definitely had some flaws and bumps. and i know im repeating myself but its because people always take this in the worst way possible but just because i say their relationship was rocky doesnt mean im saying they dont love each other!!! thats the entire basis of mias character!! saying she doesnt love ethan would destroy her entire character!

you can see in the re8 DLC how fondly ethan talks about mia! he loves her so much, though im not sure if his comments in the DLC are him narrating current (post re8) or his thoughts before everything went down and he died (pre re8)

everything mia did was because she LOVED ethan. she would never do anything to intentionally hurt him, she is not a cruel person. she hides the truth of her job from ethan pre re7 because she loves him and doesnt want her job to drive them apart. she CONTINUES to refuse to tell ethan the truth post re7 because she wants to move on a live a happy normal life with him and knows something like her being directly associated with the connections would probably cause (more) problems. she refuses to tell ethan that he is mold because again, hard to live a happy marriage with your husband after you tell him hes a bioweapon.

obviously i dont think it was right that she did this, thats what makes her selfish! she did it for herself! she did it for her family! she thought it would work out, she thought that they could move on and be happy together.

the issue is that ethan didnt want to forget. he wanted to know what happened, he wanted to know the part mia played, he wanted answers! which is reasonable! he knows to some extent that mia was partially responsible for his involvement and he was always suspcious that mia was lying to him about her job which is implied when mia says "you were right, i did lie to you"

she doesnt learn, she doesnt stop lying, her lies get bigger and worse and it sucks yeah but it makes her so interesting!!! she keeps doing stupid things under the idea that this is whats best for her and her family, that if she hides this everything will work out and it will be for the better but its not!

just because telling your husband hes dead and a bioweapon is a hard subject to bring up doesnt mean you DONT bring it up. people shouldnt use that as a reason to excuse mia 😭, its a very bad excuse and honestly highlights how horrible their communication skills were. you cant just not tell your husband that he is actually infected with the mold and not tell him for the tree years between post re7 and pre re8.

im not saying these things to put mia down, or try and villanize her. these are all just actual things her character does! she isnt evil, but she isnt a knight in shining armor either. we need to be able to have talks about complex characters without crying everytime someone points out a flaw. characters have flaws! and mia just happens to have a lot of them!

im not mad at her, i dont dislike her because i think this way of her. shes a fictional character! you can like characters that are morally gray, or villains that drink blood and make corpse soldiers. they are fictional! pointing out the flaws of a character does not mean i dont like them.

i wouldnt call her "the real villain of re8" but i wouldnt treat her like a damsel in distress either. she is a competent person, she knows what shes doing, she has her reasons for doing them. she made bad descions with good intentions behind them! they can coexist and we should let them!

i like mithan! its a complex relationship because they both love each other so much but hurt each other in the process

its even more frustrating that mia straight up just disappears???? in the shadows of rose DLC... like she just stops taking care of rose and theres nothing said about it. no reason or explanation. i dont think mia would ever ditch rosemary because she didnt care about her, but we probably will never know because capcom sucks at writing and they probably forgot the mia ever even existed.

all in all, i think the fandom is really just full of misinformation which make people either think mia is some horrible evil person, or its full of people who think that saying mia messed up is the equivalent of comparing her to wesker lol.

i really love mia, shes a incredibly fun and complex character, its just hard to enjoy her sometimes with the people in the fandom haha.

He doesn't celebrate his birthdays. Not since the day he lost everything. How can he celebrate the joy of his birth if on this day all the joy was taken away from him?

Born on the blessed day, he's Mother Goddess's beloved child. But why did she abandon her people then? Why it had to happen on the day they were celebrating her, on the day they were supposed to be saved? How can he see himself as something other than cursed, how can he see the day as something other than tragedy?

Anyhow, even if he would want to celebrate, for the first years after the massacre he didn't even have the opportunity to do so. And if he could, he would rather mourn his people, his family. But no, he can only focus on his survival, trying to fulfill the promise he gave to his sister.

Now, standing in the lonely hotel room, he can only smile bitterly at the sight of beautifully decorated cake Jade has send him. How ironic, wasn't she the one who told him to forget his name and his past? Perhaps she simply doesn't look at this the same way he does. "You can't change what happened but you can celebrate that you're still here", she would probably say. He envies her ability to brush off sentiments, really.

Now, when he is no longer Kakavasha but Aventurine of the Ten Stonehearts, he was deliberately choosing to ignore this day. It has nothing to do with his new self.

He may still hold onto his mother's necklace, his father's shirt, the promise he gave to his big sis. But this day? He doesn't need it. He doesn't need another reminder of the moment he lost everything.

That's what he tells himself, ignoring the pain in his chest, trying to bury himself in the work, running away on a mission he insisted on taking, even if was supposed to be his day off.

Still, he gets the cake. This stupid reminder of the worst day in his life.

It honestly feels like a joke. He doesn't even have anyone to eat this with!

He knows Jade didn't try to mock him, she's pragmatic, not crue. But aeons, it does feel like mockery still.

So he sits with this stupid cake in front of him, not really knowing if he should just throw it away. Somehow it feels... wrong. Wasteful. He knows how stupid that thought is, both him and Jade are rich enough to buy thouthands of those cakes. Yet he can't help but remember how his mom and sister would go out of their ways to give him something nice for his birthdays, something that could be considered a treat, a gift. Now he can have everything he wants but... they won't be there to share it with him.

No one is there to share it with him.

... at least he thinks so. Up until the moment the window opens from the outside (eighteenth floor, mind you) and a very familiar figure jumps in.

He really can't help but smile. Not only out of habit but because your ability to sneak in anywhere you want is truly amusing.

"Oh, what I see? A wanted criminal breaking into the room of one of the IPC's most noticeable employees? Don't you afride of being caught, my dear? Or you've finally decided to end our partnership and get rid of me?"

He can't help but chuckle at your unimpressed gaze. Yes, he has told this joke more than once already. But it's not his fault it always make you roll your eyes in a funny way.

But he really is curious what brought you here. Showing up like that is very risky, for both of you. Something serious must have happened if you decided to visit him out of the blue.

... that's what he thinks until you pull out a small gift box from your pocket, throwing it his way.

"A little birdie told me today it's your birthday. I don't usually participate in the whole gift giving tradition. Nor do I celebrate something myself. But those things reminded me of you and I was nearby anyway" you say with a cheeky smile.

He doesn't even know how to react, honestly. His hands just automatically unwrap the box and... oh. It's a set of earrings. A very pretty set of earrings.

"They reminded me of peacock tails" you say, barely holding back a chuckle.

"How original you are. I'm a birthday boy, you should be nicer, you know!" he acts like it's just a small joke between you two but his voice is weaker than usual and his hands are a bit shaky. He doesn't want to overthink it, he really shouldn't do it, it's just a small gift, a joke.

You thought of him. You know his taste well enough. I came to find him. You're here with him.

He almost panics when you say your goodbyes and turn to leave (through the window again. He'll never know how you do it).

"Hey, hey, no need to hurry. Let me be a good host for my friend" he says with his signature smile (he always feels like you see right through it) while his hand is clenched behind his back (he feels like you see through this too).

Please don't leave.

When you sigh and turn back to face him, he suddenly feels relieved that Jade send him the cake. The thought of sharing it with a wanted criminal who caused nothing but headaches to the IPC is somewhat amusing.

"How about we visit a nearby casino after this, hm? I promise you won't lose with me by your side"

If he can have you by his side, mayve he'll have at least one memory of this day untainted by pain and grief.

I recently watched a video talking about what your favorite Mouthwashing ship says about you (spoilers: most of them are bad), and one thing I explained in the comments that I think is important to explain to certain people (in general with a lot of fandoms, tbh) is that a lot of shippers in the fandom understand that these relationships would not be good and are in fact deeply unhealthy, but perhaps that's the point.

Like, most of the Jambone x Curly shippers I've seen don't like the ship because it's cute or good, but because it's narratively interesting and would be extremely compelling to see. I honestly get it even if I'm not super interested in it. Jildo and Curly already have an extremely interesting and unhealthy relationship dynamic. It is heavily implied that JarJar acts very emotionally abusive towards Curly, belittling and manipulating him frequently and likely damaging his confidence and ability to stand up to people. But he is also obsessed with Curly in a very fascinating way.

Meanwhile, Curly has not only been friends with Jimbo for a long time, but has a fatal flaw of being too loyal and passive for his own good. As many have said, Curly is like a golden retriever in both a good and bad way.

Curly is Jackass' victim and enabler at the same time, which is why he is one of my favorite characters in the game. You both feel bad for him but also understand that he really fucked up and a lot of stuff is his fault. His most endearing traits are also some of his worst traits. Again, the golden retriever comparison is very accurate. He is friendly and loyal and believes the best in everyone (and very cute), but that loyalty and belief in everyone are also his fatal flaws.

He enables Jello because he thinks that there is good in him, and like a dog, he sees no wrong with most people no matter what they do (until it's far too late). I can't remember the fic I saw this in, but one good line I saw once was something along the lines of: "You believe in people and see nothing wrong with them no matter what until they abandon you at the park in the middle of the night." Curly sees no wrong in his friend because that's the type of person he is, and while it can be cute, it's also dangerous.

It can also often be detrimental to himself, as we see Juice be cruel to him as well, yet Curly excuses it as just Jizz being Jizz. He doesn't see anything wrong with the way he is treated, making him become desensitized to Jive's behavior and seeing it as not a big deal.

I think Curly's status as both victim and enabler would be interesting under the context of an abusive romantic relationship. There is an even greater power imbalance present, and Jojo may do a lot worse things as a result and be a lot more controlling and manipulative. He could be more physically and verbally abusive, make more threats, and even be sexually abusive (since he is canonically a rapist already, and hates Curly more than he hates Anya, thus he would probably put more aggressive hate into it). The whole relationship would be horrible and disturbing, but also interesting to see.

I love fics exploring their unhealthy friendship, so seeing it as an unhealthy romantic relationship could be even crazier to see.

There's also the nuances of Anya x Curly. Most people ship it specifically in the context of AUs where Curly actually stands up for Anya and helps her out. Their dynamic as characters could be really cute, especially if he puts in the work to protect her.

I personally find the potential of post-crash Anya x Curly to be interesting as hell. I generally find their non-romantic dynamic post-crash to be interesting enough on its own, but I also think it could be absolutely crazy if they developed romantic feelings because those feelings would develop from some really unhealthy places for the most part.

I see Anya as someone who still holds some resentment towards Curly, but also sees herself in him and feels he doesn't deserve what happened to him. Maybe at one point seeing him go through something similar to what she went through might feel a little cathartic, but anything after that is too much to her. She is also his primary caretaker and a nurse, so she feels responsible for his wellbeing and wants to take care of him. She also seems to read and talk to him a lot, which probably feels nice because she can have some company while also being safe because Curly is not in a position to be able to hurt her. Anya doesn't exactly develop proper feelings for him per say, but she still uses him as a bit of an emotional crutch of sorts and becomes very attached to him because of it.

Meanwhile, Curly feels deeply guilty for not helping Anya and feels she deserves better. He believes she has no reason to care for him, but chooses to anyway, and thus he is extremely grateful towards her, possibly idolizing her to a certain degree. He slowly develops his own weird feelings, seeing himself as unworthy of her kindness and wanting the best for her, while also being dependent on her, even if it's in a more direct way.

They never get together or even realize that they themselves have feelings for each other since those feelings are #messy, but do form a weird codependent relationship of sorts. I've seen some cool fanart of Anya hugging/holding onto post-crash Curly, and it made me think about the potential this whole dynamic has and how unhealthy it could be, both for Anya and Curly. I believe they would not work out or be healthy (though probably better than Jazzy x Curly), but could be interesting narratively.

Basically, what I'm trying to explain is that a lot of people don't ship certain Mouthwashing ships because they think it's good or want to romanticize it, but because it is narratively compelling and can explore complex dynamics more.
