Maybe I'm out of line for this, which is why I'm not saying this by reblogging the post that made me think it, but I think that the discourse around AO3 comments & tumblr reblogs is just?? It baffles me?? Granted, I only started posting on AO3 recently, but that was due to lack of confidence in writing someone else's characters. I've been writing nearly my whole life. I've also been posting art on a few different sites for about four years. All this just to establish: I'm not new to creating. I have had time to develop my opinions on this. And you know what those opinions are?

None of it matters. I am always going to cherish likes, comments, reblogs, kudos, etc (except for That One Post... please free me... it wasn't even that good why is it popular??). Always. But if no one online ever notices? I'll live. And maybe my why isn't accessible to everyone - everything I write gets sent to my best friend for editing, and he typically likes what I write. That's all I need. If I like it, and he likes it, it doesn't matter to me if anyone else in the entire world likes it. Almost everything I draw gets sent to my online friend Starling, and she almost always likes it. If I like it, and she likes it, I don't care if anyone else likes it.

I'm drawing and writing dumb stuff (and sometimes cool stuff) for myself and all of two (2) other people. If someone else likes it, that's great :) maybe if they're brave enough to talk to me about it, they can get added to those two people! But for now, genuinely it doesn't matter to me. I'm throwing my art into a void and if I'm lucky, someone will give me a thumbs up back. I don't expect that, though. My art goes into the void and the void will probably do nothing and I am at peace with it.

As gen-AI becomes more normalized (Chappell Roan encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use gen-AI because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by tech companies. I draw not because I want a drawing but because I love the process of drawing. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.

do you know how many people are mad that authors use "growled" as a word for "said"? it's just poetics! they do not literally mean "growled," it's just a common replacement for "said with force but in a low tone." it's normal! do you hear me!! help me i love you please let me out of here!!!

hey for everyone talking about jury nullification etc etc: it only works if you lie and say you dont know what it is. if youre chosen for jury duty and they ask you if you know what it is, you say no. here's an article going more in depth, and here's the cgp grey video about it.

like. just so we're clear, it's good to know about, but if you go into a courtroom and start talking about nullification, you could very well have voided your place on that jury. be smart about it 👍

I could think of no better way to share the news than this!

So when I was 17, my cat went missing and I'd given up hope of ever seeing him again.

Until on Monday, 27th of May, 2024, my friend sent me a FB post asking 'isn't that your mother?' about the person named on the microchip.

Here he is! 16 years old, and found safe, twelve whole years after he went missing!

Yesterday (Tuesday the 28th of May, 2024) I went to the rescue that had him, and I reclaimed my boy, renaming him Artie! (He'd originally been called 'Cat' because my mother and I couldn't decide on a name)

He's home safe with me now, currently inhabiting my bathroom and purring up a storm every time someone goes in there!

I'll be doing slow introductions between him and my current cat to give them the best possible chance of living in harmony!
