I just need everyone to know that an actual Green Guy won the @bl-bracket for Greenest Flag!
Tumblr media
And I am thrilled!
Tumblr media
Kurosawa deserves this win because he was a color-coded boy in love who was always true to his color!
Tumblr media
Even if it was hard to see at times since Japan hides the colors in the ties.
Tumblr media
He was consistently a good guy who Adachi could trust and feel safe with which are symbolic of his green color.
Tumblr media
So the colors do mean things, and they mean the right guy won this bracket.
Tumblr media
Congrats!

There's a lot of (fully deserved) praise for Jane going round about how competent he is at both his job and in his role as a mentor but I would like to take a moment to offer some praise to Ryan for his own (emotional) competence when he was trying to work out how to comfort Pie.

Checking on her directly would be the instinctive thing to do but 1) would have made others aware that she'd made a mistake during the shoot and potentially get them asking questions and 2) made her focus on the thing she probably could do without thinking about now she's off duty. So instead Ryan finds a way to bring up how important her role was during the shoot (a role she did very well at) and which was essential to it's smooth and timely running.
He basically found a way to go "hey you made a mistake but, without you doing your other task well (a task you felt was setting you off to the side), we would have been even further behind schedule.

Reminder, that if you don't like to watch sex scenes, to simply not watch a drama that IS LITERALLY 1 8+ ABOUT SEX and different point of views ABOUT SEX. SEXPOSITIVITY. But also about the SEX WORK industries dark sides. Where it is announced that it will have A LOT OF SEX SCENES. A drama that tells their characters personalities, views and stories with THE SEX SCENES sometimes.
Yea, surprise, if you skip the sex scenes you will skip half the plot, because it happens during some of those scenes, which are not just fucking from start to finish. There are dialogues, things that happen, thoughts etc. Who would have guessed that:
Tumblr media
My siblings in hell, that's literally a sentence in the first minute of the first episode...
I am sorry I get salty about the 'ew sex is icky crowd' pretending there is no plot, when the main plot is literally mentioned in the trailers and obvious in the first ep too if you don't close your eyes like in a horror movie the whole time. But here a summary, for everyone who missed it because there is too much sex in their eyes:
some guy went missing in the sex work industry
his twin brother impersonates him to infiltrate his friend group to find out where his brother disappeared to and why
the friend group itself may have some issues ranking from sex addiction to questioning own sexuality (current main guy might be ace or demi? but a version where he's fine serving others and indulging himself / struggling with his kinks)
sprinkled with some porn parody and jokes, some sarcasm
discourse about persuading people into having sex when they are not ready, just because of social norms and pressure
said (rich kid) friend group getting themselves involved with a bunch of players who emotionally exploit them for money
discourse about Thailands big sex work industry that officially doesn't exist and is even iIIegal by their laws and therefore gives no protection and healthy guidelines
but yea, it's just pwp 🤷‍♂️

Jack's self-sacrificing and self-harming acts are treated with love by Joke and his grandmother, with reminders that he needs to lean on others and reach out to them and to find support in other people while they also fight for him and his freedom.
Joke's self-sacrificing and self-harming acts are met by Jack's rejection, other people telling him to lie about it and a looming threat of losing everything he has that he doesn't feel like he's worthy of regardless.
(Jack knows he is loved and not alone and that his grandmother will always be there but Joke has never had that steady base and he doesn't think he should be loved and so he throws himself away every time he gets the chance and he'll do it a thousand times because better he suffers than anyone else and I just want the show to let someone else save him.)
Jack and Joke are both worthy of love and family and being together and their own habits of throwing themselves away should not define them and do not need to define them because they are so, so worthy of love.

People are still truly out here asking their fiction to act as models for real life instead of letting them be symbolic. Like, yes, we can def add to our realistic representations of people's lived experiences of poverty and queerness, but maybe the campy ghost show isn't the best example to ignite your criticisms about realism???

finished the episode of peaceful property and i'm still thinking about it an hour later.....the thought crossed my mind when home startled at the mention of the car but i didn't expect them to actually go there because when is a show willing to have one of the lead characters literally have killed the other and have gotten away with it freely.
up until now we've seen home's family taking advantage of people and we've seen the way that home treats others (e.g. forcing peach to perform when they moved in). but now we're forced to directly contend with home not just being complicit in his family's actions but actually having himself done something that is inexcusable.
and on top of that the way that peach's tremor is explicitly a physical manifestation of his guilt over (in his mind) causing chef hong to die, directly preventing him from being able to pursue his chosen career. meanwhile home due to his family's wealth and status was able to go on with his life as if nothing had happened! they're similar right up until they're very much not.
also just loved how setting the episode at the restaurant let us get insight into peach while still fulfilling all the right notes as a ghost-of-the-week and the way that this time peach was the one to receive solace and let go of his (metaphorical and literal) ghosts....really good episode.

I don’t even know the airing schedule of half the shows I’m watching right now. I just wait for the tumblr tags to tell me a new ep is out (thank you!)
