Now it feels like we’re celebrating the 25th Anniversary 😍

This new art for an upcoming collaboration with Karatez is just simply stunning. The theme is (very obviously) “idol” and I personally love the futuristic pop concept they’ve added to the outfits. Although exact date and merch details haven’t been shared yet, they shared a few layouts of the key art.

The outfits are also great this time around because of their little references to the partner Digimon’s Perfect evolutions. Listing them down one by one as always.

Taichi: The blue markings on his jacket plus robotic arm markings on his right sleeve are a nice shoutout to MetalGreymon.

Yamato: We see WereGarurumon’s pattern on his jacket and a few belts wrapped around his hands that captures the punk-grunge vibe of WereGarurumon well. It may be Yamato’s affinity to music, but he looks extremely in his element in this art, it’s not often we see him so raring to go in official merch art (he’s more of a soft smiles guy usually).

Sora: Her gloves and the red bandana on her arm coupled with the feather in her hair are clear shoutouts to Garudamon. It’s kinda funny to me that being the girl who’s crest is a heart symbol, she’s making a victory sign while Mimi and Hikari are both making different types of finger hearts 😆

Koushiro: Honestly they were really subtle with the reference for him and even twitter couldn’t exactly answer my doubts so I’m gonna have to see Koushiro stans step up and answer whether the reference in his outfit limited to the markings on his jacket resembling AtlurKabuterimon’s chest?

Mimi: I think she’s the one with the most easy to catch references, her skirt resembles Lilymon’s and her hair tie looks like Lilymon’s flower canon. I love that she’s making the big finger heart because it’s just so very Mimi. If Yamato suits the passionate side of being an idol, Mimi is definitely meant for the cutesy visual vibe that can make fans go crazy over just a wink and a smile.

Jou: He’s wearing three belt like bracelets around one wrist like Zudomon which makes his a minimal reference though not as subtle as Koushiro’s. I do feel that they could’ve done a bit more with his look, maybe add a horn to the side of his headset? I also can’t wait to see the full art for each kid individually cuz I do think him and Yamato are wearing similar bellbottom pants!

Takeru: The feather on his headset and the yellow suspended straps are a decent reference to HolyAngemon. Considering that they wanted to keep the outfits limited to one colour per kid, I think this is the best way they could slip in the reference, though I wouldn’t have minded a few rings.

Hikari: The feather on the headset, the corset-ish belt around her waist and her gloves are very nice references to Angewomon. Keeping Hikari’s innocence as a kid intact while referencing a Digimon that is undoubtedly considered one of the most sexiest mons in the franchise would have been really tough and I salute the illustrators for coming up with this design! I also like the OG Korean finger heart she’s making, such a cute look on her.

The cherry on top are each of the Digimon partners holding supportive cheering goods for their kids. Piyomon’s love for Sora goes hard with her big name banner. Meanwhile, Agumon and Palmon kept it simple with haoris, Tailmon and Patamon too decided to go the simple route with light sticks. Gabumon, Gomamon and Tentomon seem normal from afar with their hand fans but when you get a closer look on all the hearts around Koushiro’s name on Tentomon’s fan, you know the three spent time making those themselves.

All in all, a pretty amazing illustration to be able to get merch of!

But wait that’s not all, andGallery has also teased a future cafe collaboration with Digimon Adventure on their twitter, more info will be announced on 19th Feb but they did share a preview of what to expect.

It even went as far as you both would accidentally duet each other with the humming during fights, or dancing on the balls of your feet in the office as you listened to your mission debrief

Defiantly finds it cute and develops a crush on you

Once you got badly injured as he forced you to sing so he could make sure you stayed awake as he escorted you to safety

Why yes I do! A lot of the people ive shown def enjoyed that art!

I can see Angel use his own spider webbing to help patch up Rocky from “work injuries”(unsafe environments, Val). Actually has done this for his other coworkers and in return they help him too ⛑️🩹

Rocky enjoys helping Angel dress up. Whether it be for shows or events he’s invited to or performing at. Def thinks Angel’s cute in cool-color pinks 💖💜

Whenever Angel’s invited to outings or events, will bring back some food if he can for Rocky💖 def enjoys cocktail weenies.

Def helped comfort Angel when he and Husk broke up💔(hypothetically if they do get together which is probably)

If Husk and Angel do break up, Rocky helps Angel properly apologize and leave things on a better note(I imagine the breakup wouldn’t be an easy one)

Angel acknowledges the mistakes he made in their relationship, admits he wasn’t easy to deal with(both dealing with personal demons) and knows he shouldn’t put it on Husk for judging him for those moments where he had the right to. Even if Husk hurt him…he knows he’s done a lot of that himself and wants to make it clear he doesn’t see Husk as the bad guy. And maybe gives him a parting present 🎁 maybe a drink flask with spider webbing unto it! Husk would use it beyond just booze. 🥃

Maybe Husk ends up giving him a gift too. A new neckwear or other accessory! Perhaps with a suit symbol ♥️♦️♠️♣️

I can def see them vent to each other(Angel usually) about stuff wether that be Val, or perhaps Angel’s own frustrations with himself or back at the hotel.

Ngl I’m hoping they bring up/keep how Angel was back in the pilot Maybe he’s venting to Rocky about the the gang, past things(like feeling ignored in ep 2, the incident in ep 4, etc )….and begins reflecting that he hasn’t always been very considerate himself .

He despite being in free rehab, still did drugs casually behind their backs took part in a terf war and def enjoyed, causing problems for Charlie which escalated into her having a nasty fight with Katie which also led to a fire…like the studio did.

And when confronted, he didn’t even apologize, even still cracked jokes and insults. Sure he had a moment where he felt bad..but was scared to act upon it…and just left…

Angel-…I didn’t even bother trying to make up….let alone apologize…..maybe I shouldn’t be judging Charlie so much for being careless…

On the one hand, Angels actions certainly didn’t escalate to anything as bad as the studio Incident….but he was also kinda careless of what his actions could cause and didn’t exactly try to set things right or even act apologetic for the damage he caused, even still continuing to insult and poke fun at them and their project… And hey Charlie’s not only a sheltered Princess but also the daughter of the DEVIL himself…makes sense she wouldn’t be aware or fully considerate of the impact of her actions ….so what’s his excuse?

He def has every right to still be hurt, Charlie still screwed up with her approach(Probably would’ve been good for Vaggie to have went with her or both wait for Angel, and im not 100% sure how much she was really taking her advice but I can imagine she assumed Charlie would know cause she’s a Princess, not realizing she’s been sheltered and not properly taught those things and didnt think shed have been like that). Not to mention with his things with Vaggie and Husk…he never made it easy for them especially to really empathize and keep their cool with him…

He comes to realize….he hasn’t been the best himself towards the people around him. Only just recently started becoming more considerate of others because of the hotel. I can see Rocky suggest he actually try talking to Charlie more, actually talk to her about sinners and how they think/deal with things being a sinner himself. Help her actually understand him and sinners better! And ofocurse build more bonding with the others too like he has with Husk!

Being with each other make it easier to avoid Val trying to infect them with his nastiness. I actually theorized Val already had plans of hurting Angel and let Charlie stick around to use as a reason to seemingly so Angel would tire of her and come back….clearly it didn’t work. I can totally see Val try to make Angel revert back to his bad habits and issues.

Lowkey scared around Cherri cause of her explosives but tries his best to be friendly towards her since she’s Angel’s Bestie and genuinely wants what’s best for him, even if she can encourage the not so great things sometimes. Would probably buy her a firecracker or something cherry flavoured as a friendly gift 🎁

Same with the hotel. Def appreciates them for what they’ve done for Angel in terms of giving him a place away from Val and helping him improve himself. He and Charlie start off akward considering….what happened in ep 4. He’s def asked her important questions regarding Angel and how she’s trying to help him with that(if she’s properly thinking about Angel and not just what he could be for the hotel). He tries to give her some benefit of the doubt considering her background and figures she just needs more help with understanding mortals and real life problems and other reasons said above(all of the sinners got their own issues going on too)…..if my theory about her “true intentions” is true, and most likely Angel would be crushed though, he’s def gonna rip into her!

If Rocky were to share his own version of Loser baby, it’d be more gentle, supportive and more related to Angel coming to terms with himself and his own personal demons. Probably at a point where Angel’s actual past is revealed(his mafia past) and there’s some argument. Someone shared this REALLY cool theory .

Maybe he asks if he can be at times…like Val or even his family(people have pointed out the similarities of when Angel threw that bottle at Husk, like how Val threw his glass at Vox).

That if…they were right about him, being a bad person and all the other problems he has Rocky admits that...to an extent he can be. He can be selfish, he can be careless, he can even be very cruel and has made similar mistakes (Lashing out, pushing boundaries, not apologizing or admitting his mistakes) But also is not .

He's shown he can be kind, he can be considerate, he's actually admitting his mistakes now a days and trying to genuinely change And in the end, no one down there’s perfect, it’s Hell! Doesn’t mean they can’t get better if they want to be(Don’t need to be in Heaven to atleast be happy and better than you used to be alive)

Kinda hard truth Aesop of realizing at times u can learn some bad things from those who hurt u and repeat them, even be like them but that doesn’t mean you cant learn from their mistakes and change yourself, break the cycle(like Penumbra podcast).

I can def see Husk feel akward around Rocky(since in this scenario, he and Angel broke up) and seeing how well things are between them and how much Rocky’s helped out Angel…

Husk-…guess he was right… I was the problem afterall.

I can see Husk admit his own feelings of guilt and regret only for Rocky to point out had he not been in Angel’s life, he wouldn’t be doing how he is now, he wouldn’t be who he is now without Husk. And also points out Angel def wasn’t the easiest back than to be around himself and actually thanks Husk for being Angel’s first as it helped bring them together…they both appreciate him for everything💖 kinda like that talk Diane and Mr PB had!

Perhaps do cards together for fun 🃏

Wednesday Addams X Fem Reader | Bite Me Pt II

Watching Wednesday and Tyler interact made your teeth ache. It was weeks since your fight, and though you both weren’t on speaking terms, her friends were your friends too. Or rather, your friends were her friends seeing as you had been attending Nevermore longer than the petite girl ahead of you. “You get a bad vibe from him too right? Like I’m not crazy am I?” You ask Enid. Her momentarily silence said enough but for her to have followed it up with:

“I think its good Wednesday is making friends and I can totally see them being a cute cou—“

“Finish that sentence and I’ll rip your throat out” You spat, pointing your finger at her, your chair sliding back as your long form becomes even more inhuman.

With a sigh of frustration you flatten out your outfit, having been a free day you wore several layers to keep you and yourself away from the sun. Even when it was raining,, the UV rays were a bitch. You re-tuck the band t-shirt that was overtop a long sleeve turtleneck. Your high-waisted jeans gave with ease as they were baggy, making it easier for the layers to adjust. You impatiently tap your left foot covered by a platform loafer on the ground, glancing to the side to stare at the girl you were enamoured with.

If Wednesday was goth, you were her grunge counterpart. The two of you looked..correct standing next to eachother. Complimented and highlighted eachothers beauty. You clench your jaw, your gaze focusing back onto Enid’s form, she sunk into the booth, her claws gripping the table, no doubt because she was quite startled of your previous outburst. Your anger was a force to be reconned with.

“I’m…sorry, I’m just—“ you look at her and begin sincerely apologising, “I-“.

You were stumbling over your words struggling to produce a coherent sentence, luckily, or rather unluckily, it is forgotten as man rapidly presses the countertop bell, “Where’s the service in this place?!”

You glance back where Tyler and Wednesday were previously standing. “Well isn’t that convenient”You grit your teeth in frustration. “Something isn’t right with that boy. This whole situation is fucked” You stare out the window in disdain. It appears Xavier also had slipped from the café.

“Y’know, y/n, maybe she gets distracted by you and thats why she doesn’t bring you with her anymore” The pathetic attempt to comfort you was appreciated nonetheless and you smile sadly looking down at the girl.

The following weeks didn’t seem to get any better. Wednesday was giving you emotional whiplash. You’d both hang out and the routine of back and forth banter would repeat and then suddenly she’d be ditching you to spend time with Tyler or stalking Xavier.

“It’s like I don’t even exist to her anymore” You complain to your roommate. Bianca looks down at you with an annoyed expression, “God, you sound like Xavier y/n…Seriously Wednesday isn’t that special.” She rolls her eyes catching the pillow you haphazardly throw at her.

“It’s not fair… What does he have that I don’t?” You finally show your face to her, the unshed tears seemed painful.

“Do you really want me to answer that question?” She smirks amused at the stupidity of your question.

“Ew. I do not wish to ever have to think about MY girlf—“ you quickly catch yourself “ about Wednesday being with Tyler like that. Or anyone for that matter. she’s mine.” you pout

“If you’re so upset why don’t you just talk to her? It’s a two way communication street y’know.” she lectures “I mean really, y/n/n, sitting here bitching about some girl? The old you would beat you to a pulp if she saw your pathetic ass like this. Over some girl no less.”

This made you pause, “Oh god— Have I been “moping”?” you put quotations around it.

“Brooding, whining, crying being a general nuisance.” she rattles off, “Look y/n, I care about you. But this obsession with Wednesday is turning you into this. I know for a girl thats been alive for this long,, you know more than anyone that people are temporary. And Wednesday will die one day, and what will you do then? Better to rip it off like a bandaid and start fresh yeah?”

“I mean she might as well have stabbed me with a stake in the heart, and not in the good way.” you sit up and rub your face in exhaustion. “I know you’re right, I just… love her. I love her so much and I want to go when she does. I want her to kill me. What do I do B?”

“You vampires are so dramatic” she says and amused tone shining through the mask of annoyance. “Go talk to her. Gift her your cold dead heart, play her your stupid violin, do something to show her how you feel. And when she inevitably breaks your heart pick yourself up and show her why she was interested in you in the first place. You’ve lost your spark y/n. You follow her around like a sad dog. A dumb dog.”

You slide on your jacket, and with a quick “Thanks, B.” you’re slipping out the door to track down the Enigma that is Wednesday Addams.

Enid proceeded to lie to you about Wednesday’s whereabouts for ten minutes. Very quickly you realise she is stalling and you rub your temples in frustration partially giving up on the whole notion of confronting her.

“And so then I came back from Yoko’s room and she wasn’t here.”

You quirk your brow in slight amusement “You’re a terrible liar.”

“I’m not lying!” she says fidgeting slightly

“oh right right. well if you say so.” You shrug pretending to turn and walk away. She quickly attempts to shut the door, but you had other ideas as you snap around, catching the door with your foot.

“But if you were lying,, hypothetically of course” you grin wickedly. Your form was always sickly and a bit inhuman, but when you would shift your posture slightly, and bare your teeth, you looked infinitely more nightmarish.

“Honestly, y/n! We got in a fight and i left, i only came back to look for my nail polish. My guess is the crypt” The girl in front of you cringes at the mention of the monster. You can only assume she’d seen the beast for herself.

Your hand that was resting against the door frame began to turn white, your nails were sunken so deeply into the wooden beam that it was splintering with every slight shift of your hand.

“Is she?”

“Thats all I know” she waves her hands in the air.

“Thank you for the information.” You pry your hand off the door frame and walk back towards your room, assuming you were probably too late. Subconsciously, you glance out the window not thinking you’d catch sight of the goth’s form being enveloped by the shadows of the woods.

With a newfound sense of anger you rush down the corridors to catch up with her. There’s a gracefulness to your movements despite the speed. You suppose it’s a vampire thing. Or at least one of your blood status though you never really bothered to care or pay attention to that.

“Wednesday!” You shout following after,, “Wednesday!”

“stalking me now are we, y/n?” she doesn’t even bother to look at you, choosing to continue on her path to the crypt.

“you need to get a better guard dog.”

“Why is it any of your concern? You think I can’t do this investigation without you?”

“You’re seriously sneaking out to see him?” You deduced, frowning whilst you finally catch up to her.

“You may be blinded by your attraction to him but he is just as much of a suspect as everyone else-“ You grab her wrist harshly.

“I don’t have to explain myself to you.” she wrenches her hand from your grip immediately.

You glance down at the faded puncture wounds she has on her neck. “so i guess that means nothing to you then?” your facade falls briefly

“We were never official.” she reiterates to you, almost brushing the thought off completely.

“Oh yeah? Cause vampire bites are just something to take so casual right?” You hiss out. “Whatever Wednesday. I’m sick of this shit.” you turn to leave but she grabs your arm. The uncharacteristic movement made you freeze, and hope had electrocuted your heart into beating for a few fleeting moments.

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” her emotions breaking through from her usual somber expression and apathetic mood.

“How should I know Addams? You have everyone wrapped around your finger. Xavier, Eugene, who is in a coma, And prime suspect number one.” you readjust your posture, you were quite taller than the girl before you. “You’re gonna get yourself killed. And for a guy no less? For a normie? One that bullied Xav? You are so busy chasing after some guy to see-“

“To see you? Don’t be vain y/n it doesn’t suit you.” she drops her hand and stares at you, her eyes hollow from all semblance of emotion. Your eyes narrow before you turn around,

“As opposed to being what, Wednesday? A selfless idiot that would die for you? The world doesn’t revolve around you and I am perfectly fine in solitude just as much as you are, so we’re done.” You flip her off over your head, not sparing her a glance, as you head back into the castle grounds.

The way your eyes went from a blur of anger and pain to a void abyss greatly intrigued Wednesday. She tilted her head before turning around to meet up with her,, almost boyfriend? At least he didn’t seem to care for titles. Why did you? Why did it all bother her so much? She focused on the task at hand, ignoring the way her stomach twisted into a knot. An unsettling feeling consumed her whole as she arrived at the Crypt.

In your fit of rage, you tipped the police about the stolen motorcycle. At least you could fuck up their date plans a little bit.

So I was wat more productive then I had thought i would be given the exhaustion I felt from jet lag. I am proud of what I got done! However, I only slept about 2 hours, and it was broken sleep at that so I am not exactly feeling top of my game at the moment. We'll see what my energy allows me to complete today.

🩷 What I Ate, Oct 11th -

Brunch/Lunch - Spaghetti with meat sauce and ground turkey, topped with grated parmesean

Dinner - Turkey & Roast Beef bagel sandwich with avocado, 1 slice muenster cheese, 1 slice cheddar cheese, and a small side of potato chips.

Snack - a half bowl of spaghetti with ground turkey and meat sauce

Extra - 4 cups of coffee, each with one sweet n low and a splash of French vanilla creamer

I actually cooked which is odd for me as I typically don't have energy. My goal for today is to cook a batch of ground beef for taco bowls!

I've put a lot on my to-do list for today, but if I can even get a third of each list done, I will still be very proud of myself. Productivity should not come at the cost of my own well-being. Maybe I'll take a nap today? My boyfriend thinks it's a good idea, but I'm not a big fan of naps regardless of the situation. We shall see.

I took complete advantage of the prime big deals on Amazon and ordered some new workout clothes, some hair accessories, a set of silk pillowcases, and supplies for my bullet journal language tracker/planner. I even bought this cute little journal that's made specifically for fitness and health tracking, as a little side thing of mine to help keep me going! It comes with stickers and already set up pages, so hopefully, it proves to be useful!

I may or may not have made an Ulta order for some makeup using my afterpay account as well, because as it gets colder outside I'm starting to want to wear makeup for fun again. I'm not typically drawn to full beat looks but in the winter I love going all out with my makeup looks, whether I'm doing a more grunge goth emo look or a soft coquette girly look and everything in between. I love makeup as a form of self expression!

May or may not buy some more skincare as well, I'm just trying to decrease the amount of stuff in my skincare cart on the shopping app but it's so hard choosing what to get now and what to wait on!! I'm super indecisive too so that intensified the struggle.

Marn's timeloop 90s infinity train teens au has infected me

“What are you even looking at?”

Audrey’s elbow knocks Al back into the world- the sound of cars underneath the train platform, a disembodied voice giving times for arrival that are slowly getting delayed- the repetition of it was hard to keep your focus on. He looks to the grunge girl sitting on the bench beside him and he tries to muster his most certain voice. “I’m not looking at anything!”

It’s not hard to see through it, the way his voice cracks, and his eyes look wide like a cat having been caught with a paw in a fishbowl- Audrey levels her gaze at him and raises and eyebrow. “Are you sure about that?”

To someone less used to her, Audrey’s tone would be read as angry or bitter, but it’s been weeks since they first met on the train, and the two of them had been going loop after loop with each other. It was more fun than having the same conversation with your brother every day through instant messages.

But even though she wasn’t trying to bully him, Al blushes and tries to hide his face, Audrey gives up on waiting for him to answer and looks across the train platform. It takes her a second, but eventually she clocks it. “Her?” She raises her hand to point at the blonde girl on the other side of the tracks and Al jumps at least a foot in the air. He jerks her arm down with both hands and spins in front of Audrey, who is now cackling to herself as her beat red friend hopes they aren’t causing too much of a commotion.

“Relax dude- she’ll forget when she goes to bed tonight.” Audrey says between cackles, and Alphonse can’t refute it. She’s right- that girl isn’t in the loop. Any embarrassment from this is fleeting, right? “Do you know her?” Audrey pulls Al out of thought again, and he looks past her at the reflection of the girl in a metal wind cover. “No- I. I’ve seen her around the past couple days. She must work around here or something.”

The girl across the way is standing with a bag over her shoulder, long blonde hair and- Al’s not a fashion person, but he can tell that this is a curated outfit. A longer jacket, a colorful pop of color from a beanie, how was he NOT supposed to look at her? It was also evident that this girl was looking for something, like she’s canvasing the area. Everyone else is in their own world but she’s clearly trying to take everything in.

For a moment, Al thinks he can see her looking directly back at him through the reflection and blushes, looking away from her and at Audrey, who is looking at him in the way that someone would look at a dog that thinks it can’t get off the couch.

“Why don’t you talk to her?” Al can feel his head shaking no before she can finish her sentence, and Audrey stares him down. “If you don’t I will. Dude, what’s the worst that could happen?” Al scratches the back of his head and tries to stall, feeling his heart in his throat and his face turning red. “Come on Audrey- I don’t know if that’s- If this is a good idea. How would I even get over there before the train comes?”

Audrey pinches the bridge of her nose, and the thermal lamp above them turns on to start warming the waiting area. She looks up with a grin as Al stammers out excuses. “You’re right, you probably won’t be able to get over there.” and she pushes past him, cupping her hands around her mouth and yelling.

“Hey!” Al considers throwing himself over the yellow line and into the path of the train. “Blonde girl!”

She jerks her head up, putting a foot back behind her as if expecting an attack, everyone on the train turns and looks at Audrey, and then at Rachel on the other side of the tracks. Al’s face was buried behind his hands- he hoped his gloves covered him enough that no one would see him.

Audrey holds out a hand towards Al, calling direct attention to him. “My friend here thinks your cute but he’s scared to go over there- Meet him for coffee tomorrow?” He wants to melt into the pavement, disappear entirely. He’s not sure if the girl is blushing or if the cold was hitting her face as much as his.

It felt like he was standing there forever, every eye on the two of them, and finally the girl starts to open her mouth and respond, but

Trains now arriving. Doors open on the left at Belmont.

A train blocks her from his vision, and Al pulls his hat down over his eyes and rushes forward to push onto the train. Audrey following behind him with a huge shit eating grin, she rushes to the other window and looks through, but another train has come on the far side, and the mess of people has made it impossible to see her anymore.

She turns to see Al giving her the angriest look she’s ever seen. “Audrey that was not ok.” She rolls her eyes- “it’s fine. She says yes, oh no there is no tomorrow for her, she says no, same hat. You lose nothing.” Her arguments weren’t convincing, and they ride in silence for a little bit as Al tries to replay the scene in his head.

He tries to remember her face, and the way her mouth was moving when she was responding- was that an ok? Was that a fuck off? What was she going to say? What does it matter anyway, when they’re trapped in this stupid fucking loop? Should he try earnestly tomorrow?

The next day, when the two of them come to the stop again at Audrey’s behest, Rachel is standing on their side of the tracks, and waves- a green number reflecting on her palm.

Al feels like he’s going to throw up.

My moot @soap-mothership5 asked for my thoughts about Tyler & his fashion sense and I definitely have a couple thoughts on the matter!!!!! 😈😈😈😈 (also sorry some of these get off track and some are more soapshipping things 💀)

•I THINK…. He’d try almost every style at least once. He loves also finding excuses to dress up like if there was a rave he could get into for free he’s dressing to the GODS in rave wear. Same could be said if there was like a goth night at some club somewhere. He takes that kinda shit as a challenge to out do everyone in the fashion department.

•He loves wearing flashy outfits obviously. He doesn’t give a shit what people assume about him and he doesn’t give a shit when people look at him like he’s crazy or whatever. He thinks it’s funny when he gets judgemental stares from people and might even try to put on more of a show because of it (stretching so his shirt goes up more, tugging his pants down a little bit more). He also thinks it’s sweet when people compliment his fashion sense.

• Hes way too good at thrifting. Like you would never expect to be able to find half the shit he does find when he goes. He’ll come home & have a huge pair of platform boots under his arm that he got from a thrift store. The narrator is confused out of his mind because those look expensive but somehow.. Tyler just found them. Tyler has amazing thrifting luck.

•He doesn’t stick to just the men side when it comes to clothes shopping. He will look everywhere for anything. (Unrelated but someone’s probably asked him if the see thru nightgown he’s buying is for a girlfriend and he’s just like, “nah. It’s for my boyfriend.”)

•PERSONALLY I THINK HED SERVE SOOOOOO MUCH IN GRUNGE FAIRY FASHION

•He’s a hypocrite about not people ‘not being the clothes they wear’ smh. He also will take the fact that he reads fashion magazines to the grave. He’s almost gotten caught owning them a couple times but he blamed them being in the house on marla. The narrator never questioned marla about it.

•He gets the narrator clothes. Both for work and just being at home. Surprisingly he does take into account that the narrator doesn’t wanna be as flashy as him or show off that much of his body. He finds the narrator some pieces that he actually really ends up loving. When Tyler brought him home a penguin onesie, the narrator swore up and down he wouldn’t put that on bc he’d make fun of him..he has it on a minute later tho 🙄 he supposes the teasing isn’t that bad (and being called cute definitely helps)

•Tyler gets attached to certain pieces more than others. His favorite things ever are his sunglasses and red jacket. He’ll pretend they don’t mean shit to them but will obviously look really shook up if something happened to them. The narrator keeps it in mind to be gentle with the clothes Tyler seems to like a lot. The motherfucker will even clean his sunglasses for him when he’s missing Tyler and needs something to do :/

•He loves when the narrator wears his shirts to bed or around the house. They are always baggy on him :,)

I LOOVVE Wine, literally heaven on earth. So here are my thoughts on my first time seeing a live BMC production!

Making this non-rebloggable, I am not a real theater critic and I do not want to draw any attention to this actual cast on an anonymous blog to strangers on the internet

For starters, casting!

I respect the variety going on here and the degree of diverging from famous character appearance-tropes. Tiny Latino Jeremy who's as fit as a gymnast and can (and does) do acrobatic spin kicks sometimes? Love it. Plus-size butch-esque Brooke? 10/10. Genderfuckery long-haired Michael who gesticulates with a huge fan through most conversations? Hell yeah. Pink-haired Nirvana-grunge-style trans guy Jake? Now we're talking. Christine a head taller than Jeremy? Awesome.

I will not get too into describing actual real people on here much more than that but in general it was wonderful to see a wide range of character-actor types inhabiting these roles. As someone involved in The Fandom, even though I have frequently expounded upon the mutability of character traits per the text, you do still absorb a general idea of what the characters "look" like; so it was a fun twist to have literally none of the performers fall into those tropes.

I will also say - and this is not a read - that I am no longer going to assume I'm too old to play any of these characters, because I guess that's the magic of community theater lol

On to Thoughts, which I will loosely group by characters:

Rich was fucking awesome. Like I was impressed by the singing skill across the board, but this guy fucking killed it at every turn. I looked at my friend I went with after The Squip Song and we both were like OH OK. Rich also wore mostly KISS T-shirts? Like the shitty glam rock band? But yknow, work. Excellent voice (if casting were a little more 'stereotypical,' he probably would be an excellent Michael). Emotionally, he was on the more explosive side while SQUIPped, melting toward just charmingly cute once in 'real Rich Goranski' mode.

The aforementioned Jake was an interesting take on the character. Definitely leaned more into the kind of douchey side of things, but did at least at one point seem genuinely into Christine (although the actor was very much leaning into the interpretation 'yeah he has multiple interests and he honestly likes them all in the moment but gets bored quickly, and that includes girlfriends'). Is that kind of shitty? Yes. Is that a realistic take on what a rich popular 17 year old might be like? Also yes. Nirvana-fan Jake was not a concept I thought of before but I was down for it (though I discovered later on the cast instagram page that the guy playing Jake said that his version of Jake thinks Nirvana is a clothing brand which, like, galaxy-brain take lol).

THE SQUIP!!!!! Actually cycled through Keanu Reeves costumes, which I loved. Started out in Bill & Ted, then Matrix, then POINT BREAK of all things, before landing on a pretty-impressive-for-the-budget version of the light-up circuitry priest robe thing from the Broadway style. He had the hair and beard pretty close to present-day Keanu too, which made him both line up with the resemblance and seem significantly older than the other characters; voice-wise, this guy was clearly a skilled baritone, which meant his delivery on some of the more rock-style songs was a bit unusual, but not bad. This SQUIP was suave at the right parts but did NOT shy away from being scary: the 'take me inside you' part with Brooke during Upgrade was staged very menacingly with regards to how he was physically moving around/behind Jeremy. The Play was delightfully sinister, leaning HARD into the SQUIP as literally puppeteering everyone: saying their lines and moving his hands like marionnettes throughout, keeping things very creepy and villainous.

On the topic of the play, the fight choreography kicked ass. Mr. Reyes's ALL THE WAY TO BROADWAY rant was delivered while he yanked Jeremy off the ground by his shirtfront and then threw him furiously across the stage, genuinely concerning and upsetting to watch (especially as the SQUIP was miming the same actions and lines behind him, obviously in control of Reyes's body) (I literally said 'oh fuck' out loud when it happened and got a Look from the presumably-grandma in the row ahead lol). The fight choreography during Two Player Game Reprise was also solid: the guy playing Jeremy was FIT and did a lot of impressive acrobatic kicks and such, and the person playing Michael being a lot taller and larger worked well with letting him like bounce off, lift him up for spin kicks, etc.

And in general, I respected how much this production was willing to let certain moments be dark. The Play in general was pretty horror-movie-climax; I also respected that the costuming did indeed look like so-so high school mockups of a modern zombie movie. But the whole number was eerie, SQUIPPED character movements and voices became unnervingly smooth and robotic, and positioning the SQUIP as the puppetmaster in the middle, literally moving the characters around, just sold the whole thing wonderfully. Very appropriately leaning into the horror part of horror-comedy.

Similarly, Do You Wanna Hang? was scary. AS IT SHOULD BE. My friend who came with me compared it favorably to the car scene in the movie 8th Grade, where you're just On Edge the whole time you're watching. The actress playing Chloe did a good job with it, that's an uncomfortable thing to portray but she went for it and it paid off in the moment.

Chloe and Brooke had a fun dynamic: the styles of the costuming/performers did add some interesting dimensions. Chloe was, as usual, pink and perfect and feminine, head-cheerleader vibes; Brooke was short haired and dressed a lot more masculine. Brooke had a very earnest sense of vulnerability to her, and excellent comedic timing during Do You Wanna Ride and The Smartphone Hour, as well as just the minor background-acting moments. They leaned pretty hard into the 'Chloe will take things just because Brooke wanted them, because she likes that Brooke is always a little jealous of her, and thinks that that's friendship' and, like the portrayal of Jake: is that a shitty thing to do? Yes. Is that a realistic thing teenagers might do, especially poisoned by toxic ideas about femininity and power? Also yes.

Which is a good spot to add, the ensemble was small (4) but they were serving it. The band appeared to be octogenarian church volunteers (oh, yeah, this was at a church??? Wesleyan Methodists, so the cool liberal branch of American Christianity) so I will say that with what they had, they were making it work. It would have been served well by a second keyboardist and/or guitarist to do the trumpet parts (it was drums, bass, guitar, and piano). One of the ensemble members, a tall goth-femme person with hot pink hair, played the role of the theremin by doing the melodies in remarkable and ethereal bel canto. And honestly, work.

Jenna Rolan was fun: could belt for the gods, had some pretty-intense Crazy Eyes thing going on that really sold the comedic moments and made her appropriately frightening as the Final Boss in the squipped battle at the end, styled like an early 2000s-lesbian-coded-soft-goth best friend archetype. No notes, 11/10.

The actor playing Mr. Heere/Reyes/Stockboy did a fantastic job of making those three seem separate, and as I mentioned above, really made Mr. Reyes come to life in a dynamic way. Sidenote, this production changed all references to Hobby Lobby to Michaels, which I found both funny and appropriate. Fuck Hobby Lobby, we all hate Hobby Lobby.

Back to characterizations, Christine was sweet and straightforward. Not as quirky or dynamic as Stephanie or a lot of other actresses make her, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Very gentle and smooth voice, she just really likes theater and wants someone to like the real her. They went with ballet-style choreography to introduce her during More Than Survive, which is always a wonderful touch for the way the music swells. There were points where I think a little more creative movement or a wider emotional range might have worked well, but the take on the character was consistent.

I am going to keep that positive thread through the next sections: while I might not have agreed with the interpretation through the text, I do respect going in a starkly different direction to how most productions and fans usually take such things.

I have enormous respect for the performer playing Michael for radically making it their own. The cast bios had pronouns, and Michael's performer was they/she/he, which as a fellow they/she/he who would love to play Michael someday was rad to see. They kept the CREEPS shirt and a hoodie with a lot of patches (albeit a black one with red accents), but that was about it. Michael had light-up cat ear headphones and a huge black fan which he used throughout, alternated between baggy sweatpants or just a floor-length hippy skirt, usually high-heel ankle boots, and some kind of green bathrobe thing for The Pants Song? Characterization, again, respect for making such an iconic character so heavily different. This Michael was not....very emotional. He was usually snippy and sarcastic in a very erudite and matter-of-fact way, at pretty much all points in the show. Not a lot of emotional range going on: this is a Michael who is in some combination of 'doesn't give a shit' and 'not going to let this bother me,' which came off....interesting. The chemistry this created with Jeremy was a starkly different one than we usually see. The original productions - and most since, and the majority of fandom depictions - imagines a Michael and Jeremy who, at their core, love each other a lot. However that manifests of course varies, but you Usually get the impression that (even with a little bit of codependence), these two genuinely love each other and spending time together, which makes moments in the show either heartwarming or devastating to see happen between them.

Which didn't make it bad, but it did shake things up. This Michael and Jeremy didn't give deep-love-friendship so much as they gave 'we sat next to each other in 1st grade and don't have other friends. so. I guess we're best friends, huh.'

Which is an INTERESTING and somewhat bleaker, but not unrealistic, take on them. That, sadly, summarizes a lot of friendships, especially at that age and with the sort of vacuum of suburbia on your social sphere (nevermind how a lot of society discourages boys from emotional connection with their friends; if anything, the fact that this Michael was definitely queer might suggest that Jeremy even pulled back emotionally because he didn't want to seem gay or give this Michael the wrong idea). It definitely sells Jeremy feeling lonely, even with his best friend hanging around. Two-Player Game came across a LOT better than I was prepared for - I have waxed about how it's a hard number to pull off - not in spite of, but almost because of this. Like, sure, they've played through this game a million times before, they know every beat, they love it like they love each other, right? even though they seem.....kind of bored. Or at least like they're waiting for something else to happen. College? Girlfriend? Different friends? Just wait two years. Whatever.

To get critical, I will say that this dynamic did not really help Michael in the Bathroom. The fight beforehand and the song itself did.....not really lend themselves to a not-very-emotional friendship between them. The singing was perfect, so not faulting that: it's THE big song of the show, so that's a lot of pressure and the performer had a splendid voice, but the snarky-not-caring-that-much attitude didn't quite do it for me - Michael didn't seem sad or upset so much as pissed off, but still fully keeping it together (despite the lyrics saying otherwise). Tonally, the 'wish I'd offed myself instead' just sounded sarcastic ("wow, SORRY I CARED AT ALL, could've just killed myself for all you seem to care" kind of vibes) THAT SAID, it was consistent with the rest of the characterization, so I admire it as a very specific acting choice. There were also characters on stage - presumably outside the bathroom door, listening in - that turned a good portion of MITB into a comedic number; as I have said before, not my personal take on how that should go, but the audience was laughing along with it! So that's the wonderful mutability of theater.

Strangely enough, this actually made Michael and Jeremy's relationship at the end of the story work out just fine? The SQUIP experience kind of sparked a "wow we really do care about each other, huh" realization from both of them. Again, mad respect for taking such a different approach to such a well-worn character relationship.

So, overall, I am very happy I got to see this. Love to support live theater, love to be surprised by a story that I thought I knew pretty well inside and out, came away with plenty to think and talk about. If you can, go support your local community theater!

speculating litg s8 characters part 3, here's cat cafe girl

so I could be dead wrong but my first thought is that this is fusebox's adorable (but unromanceable 😔) black girl. Think Thabi, Genevieve, and Willow (before she gets merged with the other girls). OR she's the out there life of the party funny girl who's only into you like Bella or AJ (but I feel less strongly about this just bc it seems like she's straight, so I did go primarily with the first option but I don't see why we can't make her adorable, funny, AND an LI).

so yea for whatever reason I see her as being either a late game love interest who doesn't realize her feelings at first or just like the other girls, not a love interest at all. if she is a love interest I'm imagining dyed hair (like Bella) and if not well then moreso like Thabi Genevieve and Willow, afro textured natural hair. I felt like switching it up (and also i couldnt decide between the two styles) so I just borrowed a picture of jhene aiko that was cute so it's still very voluminous hair but like dyed red. after i drew this i saw a tiktok where this woman had goddess braids and i was like oh thats cute too and i dont know if we've had a character with braids since najuma so maybe that. point is im indecisive she could look like anything as long as the hair is making a statement.

also willow/genevieve/thabi are closer to being midsize i would say (probably not quite, maybe just in between lol... women's sizes are confusing but this isn't a post about that) so anyway i just made her body type similar too.

The thing about the cat cafe though is that I instantly was thinking of some of my friends, who are Asian, but I do still think my other prediction that its the cute black girl is true. so I drew her blasian (I'm thinking like Naomi Osaka, Jhene Aiko) and I don't know if fusebox would put in a blasian character (the hardly put in any memorable east asian women anyway but more than the actual show at least) but I think she's cute and again just for the sake of changing it up.

i keep calling her cute bc of the cafe stuff but the drumming thing and the funny girl thing got me thinking about Bobby in his punk band (if I ever write an AU you bet they're gonna be in the same band) and that influenced her style. Still very colorful but cozy (I looked up some cat cafes on Google for this) but also a little alt (I tried googling soft grunge aesthetic which turned into e girl which turned into whatever this is). alternatively, maybe she's got dark academia vibes but that's not really fitting love island's summer aesthetic lol

So i'm an southeast asain female, 18-21, and 5 foot half an inch. I have dark brown nearly black hair cut in a mid length wolfcut with bangs, and i am pretty light skinned. My eyes are brown too. I look young for my age and i have been described as basically being cute but also having dont-mess-with-me vibes. I'm a pear shape, and my preferred aesthetics are fairy grunge, chaotic academia, and grunge.

Personality wise, I have been typed as an infp or infj. I can be initallly introverted and depending on who I'm with i can stay introverted and awkward, or i can be bubbly and cheerful. I'm an empath, but i also will want to start a fight if i feel something's unfair. I also tend to daydream and have a small attention span to things i dislike, but hyperfixate on what i do like. I am capable of being mature and protective, but i also have a sort of childlike side that wants to be protected. I'm the eldest daughter so i have a lot of "oldest child trauma" and will end up being called a "killjoy" for being responsible and trying to keep people out of trouble. I tend to overthink and worry a lot about being punished. I do have a rebellious side however due to past experiences and caution i don't indulge it no matter how much i'd like to. I tend to come off across in the wrong way, and can be loud, and although i mean well somehow i say the wrong thing. I've also recently aquired trust issues when my "best friend" abandoned me after i broke down to her.

My likes are ramen, literally anything cute, boba and cold drinks, strawberries, 2000s pop rock/2000s pop rock covers of songs. My favourite songs include Elastic Heart, Family Line, Labour, and also Just Myself by Geena Fontanella (which isnt released but she's posted a bit of on on her youtube and I relate exactly to those lyrics). I enjoy active stuff as well as art and crafts. I also love anime. I like wearing make up just for the fun of it, and it can either be other the top or very light. My favourite colour is pink.

Keigo is the type of person to enjoy his public life and also his private life. When the two of you are out in public he is boasting about you to everyone, showing his wonderful partner off to the world and all of his fans. When the two of you are in private, he's softer and more physical. acting like a child everytime you try to dodge his affection.

He took interest in you for you cutness liking your style and your sweet bubly personality, but that changed when he saw your tough side. Every time you stand up to someone his heart is pounding knowing that you're his partner and that you're the one for him.

He hasn't done much physical affection in his life and I don't think it would be his thing. He seems more of a guy who would buy gifts or do anything for his partner just to see them happy. When he learned about your wide range of music interests, he made sure to keep up with all of them and bought the most recent concert tickets for them.

Ian Mathers: Whenever we cover someone on the Jukebox I'm not already familiar with, I wind up looking up what I can about the artist/album/song, just for my own edification. In this case, between having a Wikipedia page with a "Sexual assault allegation" subheading, the language I saw her fans using to defend her/defuse said allegations on reddit, and reading the lyrics to "Evil" afterwards... well, I got the ick. (For the record: the genders and identities of the relevant people do not exacerbate or mitigate any of the accusations for me, and even if I grant for the sake of argument the most steel-manned version of Martinez's defenses, even if her accuser was every bad thing claimed here or else, that still does not eliminate the ick or make me like the song.) And seeing as how I am not a court of law and I can neither punish Martinez in any way nor do I have any desire to do so, having the ick does not need to meet any further burden of proof for me to say I don't particularly want to hear this one again. Nortey Dowuona: Maybe you shouldn't make a song about how someone is calling you evil when you abuse your friend's love and trust and can only say they didn't tell you that is what you did. That IS evil. [0]

Taylor Alatorre: Thank you, Melanie Martinez, for deciding to stop making kindercore concept albums with song titles like "Sippy Cup" and "Lunchbox Friends," so I can listen to your stuff without feeling like I'd be aiming a flamethrower at my eternal soul. "Evil" is still rooted in the rococo fantasy impulses that have animated Martinez's career -- there's a stock sound effect of an egg being cracked -- but it puts them to more workmanlike ends, crafting a realistically spiteful break-up narrative that's upsetting within the song's moral universe but not viscerally so in ours. That straight-outta-Guyville guitar chug, steady and reliable as ever, helps ground the spritely vocal theatrics in something tangible, and the decision to let the chorus marinate for a few extra bars was a bold yet correct one. I'm probably grading on a curve due to low expectations, and judging from the Alex Garland-meets-Tim Burton aesthetics, I assume the rest of the album is nothing like this. But still: "tears of oxalate"? That's one of the most genuinely grunge-sounding lyrics this side of No Code. [8]

Michael Hong: She snarls and fills the whole thing with cool details (the sound of an egg cracking when she sings, "wanna see the yolk"). Neat moves until the muffled framing lifts, the realization that she's not the victim of this story, but the girl who once wrote a diss track against someone who leveled accusations of sexual abuse against her. [0]

Frank Kogan: Interesting vocal, halfway between cute and smoky. [4]

Alfred Soto: The professionalism of its structure -- the hooks go boom-boom -- doesn't endear to me this honing of angst and decent rhymes. [4]

Tara Hillegeist: This wouldn't have been out of place on Everything Is Embarrassing, which does about track for where Martinez's general inspirations draw from, compared to her contemporaries; she's still about two decades out of date, only now she's grown out of her kinderwhore-but-make-it-more-coquette era and settling herself solidly in A&Rechtshai'd also-ran wonderland. To be clear -- there's nothing that is unappealing about that steady grunge-fuzzed bass lick keeping the song grinding along beneath its childish piano twinkling and vocals that sound like they were sung into enough sheets of gauze to cover Martinez' signature squeaky pitch, with more sheets layered on the squeakier her voice threatens to get. And the lyrics are some of the strongest I've seen from her yet; certainly, her target demo could do worse for a self-liberation anthem than a singalong that proves this catchy and caustic beneath the sandpaper faux-distress sonically draped over every word -- better this than, say, "Alice Practice", almost certainly, yes? But I still feel like something's missing, here, and I wonder what it says about myself and Martinez alike that the best way I can think to articulate that lack is, indeed, to ask all over again, if wincing for different reasons this time than the last: what if she just -- acted her age, for once? Will Adams: Because I refuse to stop melting my brain on Twitter, I log on daily and am continuously confronted with the fact that Melanie Martinez has many, many fans. Specifically, Stan Twitter, who regularly include her in prompt tweets like "WHICH POP GIRL IS TAKING IT IN 2023" or "YOU HAVE $15. WHAT ARE YOU BUYING" alongside everyone from Lana and Taylor to Charli and Carly. Having only ever heard approximately 1.5 songs of hers, my reaction is always, "is she really that special?" Listening to "Evil," I hear the appeal: "Kill Bill" cuteness over scuzzy indie pop. I still don't hear the special. [3]

Jacob Sujin Kuppermann: An innovative, path-breaking exercise at the intersection of Yeule and Disney Channel Original Movie Soundtracks. [5]

Katherine St Asaph: This is such a crowded genre, there's no reason to listen to songs this plodding by people this shitty. [1]

Joshua Minsoo Kim: The plinking piano doesn't set itself up against the rest of the instrumentation to provide the necessary contrast: her knowing devilishness just comes off poorly rehearsed. The schoolyard chant of a chorus doesn't help. [4]

Micha Cavaseno: Me, the late Prodigy, and Melanie Martinez all have at one point hailed from the greater Hempstead/Queens area and similarly have a miserable personality. Now, while I am not shooting up Demerol in order to function, nor have I had any issues with sexual assault allegations (P and M, respectively, for those who don't know), I too suffer from a sort of paranoia and gothic mistrust around the world around me; gothic in the general instability and unreliable nature... and y'know, overbearing maudlin evil spooky shit. Which is why I have always had time for how "cringe" Martinez's music has read for people with her kinderwhore one-trick pony provocations. I don't mind the Hot Topic narcissism and edgelord tendencies because at the end of the day, it's a reminder of how easy it is to believe in truth as victimhood. "See the horns on my head they're from goddesses; On God." is easily my favorite non-rap lyric this year to overanalyze because it's a perfect synthesis of New York ethnic AAVE blended in with faux-feminist self-appointed martyrdom in an alt-rock style. The witches you could not burn wearing fishnets and Timbs, but without any of the seams from such a wave of clichés showing. But whereas Prodigy's foes were the great peril of fake MCs and/or fake thugs, Martinez's foe are her own fans. She already demonstrated her obsession with this on the APPALLINGLY BAD K-12 record, one of the worst artistic expressions about "cancel culture" you could ever ask for and a distasteful response to accountability. "Evil" (and most of Portals) is better for avoiding jeering in favor of defiance, yet it still makes me incredibly sad that all Martinez wants to do (like so many people in the world) is see snakes and betrayal, and those who would tear her down and live life in hopeless nihilistic rebellion in any direction. I remember craving that sense of power to mask for my own senses of guilt and cowardice, and how worthless that feels after you've had to live on it for so long that it's all that defines you. Maybe there isn't a world without armor and thorns, but I wish to God I knew people dreamed about it anymore. It made being unable to believe feel less painful. [7]
