Can you describe your William and Henry personalities?

OHH sure thing!! It’s like having OCs with less steps LMAOO because we honestly know so little about their personalities before all of the horrors happened! I just make things up lmaooo- kinda just taking my favorite things I’ve seen from the fanbase as well as me just makin up some stuff because why not. I’m still relatively new to this fanbase so ah whatever, fuck it we ball!! Here’s my own personal interpretations of the guys

William- I feel like he is VERY very charming. Eerily charming, even. Smooth talker, can say things that make him appear very personable and likeable. Is it all an act? Probably. Especially after he takes up his new “hobby” after his son dies. I feel like the man is a natural born performer. I imagine that he has a flair for the dramatics and probably has a great stage presence. I mean, he is a performer at the restaurant after all! I also like the idea that William is very egotistical, but deeply insecure. Idk, just think that’s interesting! Also- this guy is VERY eccentric and just an all around like weirdo, like I’m sure he’s very known around town. That whacky British guy who co-owns that chuck-e-cheese place popular with kiddos who is also really fuckin intelligent cuz he makes robots. Like. What a fuckin guy. Even though he’s a bit of a weirdo, since he’s so damn charming, nobody would ever think it possible for him to become this notorious fuckin killer. Terrifying! I also like to think that William has a bit of a strange sense of humor. This is self indulgent because I love dark humor and funny villains 😭

Henry- ah MAN I feel so bad for this guy. I wish we knew more about who he was before the murders! From Fnaf 6, I gather that he’s remorseful, feels guilty, sad, exhausted, and just fucking done. But who was he before everything? Idk! Personally, I LOVE to make him a nice guy who just got every damn thing in his life taken away from him, because that’s just really sad to me LMAO. :( I think Henry could look intimidating sometimes, right, like he’s a bigger guy with a beard and whatever- but he’s actually a really kindhearted guy. To me :’) though he could absolutely beat somebody up and win everytime. For sure. somebody once described him as “the personification of a bear” with how he looks and that’s so fuckin cute. I feel like he’s also got a sense of humor, and I adore imagining that he’s the only Mfer out there to encourage William’s weird ass jokes. He balances Will out, I imagine! Like yin and Yang. Not as sociable as William, I’m sure he’d rather just chill by himself with his robots (bro fuckin loves building robots). But with his loved ones, he’s super kind and funny and just a cool guy- just like, a cool dad or uncle figure. Probably would hug me so tight that I couldn’t breathe, and tbh I love that. Although AFTER Charlie’s death….oh BOY. I headcanon that he has a lot of bad coping mechanisms (alcohol), definitely shut off from the rest of the world, the “color from his life” is gone. Depressed in every sense of the word. I could yap more but I think ya get the jist!! (In my head, it’s fun to imagine Henry and post scoop Mike reconnecting because damn their lives were both ruined by the same guy. Traumatized found family!)

What cats give Tigerstar his lives, since he gets them from the dark forest instead?

I think StarClan has an argument over it. The vast majority of cats in StarClan are furious with him; his murder attempts, his killings of innocent cats, his betrayal of ThunderClan when he was an ally of Brokenstar. He's everything they don't want.

But on the other hand... a little bit has changed about the dynamics of Bonefall TPB StarClan since I decided he would get Dark Forest Lives.

This is before Bluestar's death and Thistleclaw is still part of StarClan. So are his supporters. There are a few of them who want to give a life.

So I'm thinking, first, StarClan rejects him. Says they flatly refuse to give him his lives for what he has done. Runningnose leads him away, knowing there are other allies in the skies, but a few of his StarClan supporters follow quietly. Not very many-- less than 3.

It may make a cool setting for him to receive his lives at the border between StarClan and the Dark Forest. It's a strange, dusty nebula-like place where it's hard to see what's in front of you, impossible to find StarClan unless you're blessed by a star. Some of the glowing eyes in the fog are blue; most are red.

Thistleclaw (StarClan) For purity. To always stick to his principles, even when it makes life harder.

Brokenstar (Dark Forest) For ShadowClan. To always keep it in his heart, and protect it at all costs. It is the strongest and most noble Clan, and without it he would not be leader today; be worthy of it.

Skystar (StarClan) For conquest. Long ago, he watched his namesake Clan wither from the inside due to weakness. When the time came that they had no more territory to miserably cling to, they drowned like ants without a leaf. Never roll over and show your belly to your opponent; take what others don't deserve to have!

Leopardfoot (StarClan) For legacy. She conceived Tigerstar and his siblings because she wanted to mother strong, honorable kits. Pinestar and his bloodline were known for being Crusaders, respected and powerful. He left them and destroyed his reputation; but she's here to remind him that he is her son, more than he is his son. She finishes by telling him how proud she is.

Mapleshade (Dark Forest) For revenge. Oakstar put her children in that river, and Darkstar refused to allow her to bury them. She killed 3 more and StarClan became so furious they called both leaders to a trial and damned her victims in their blind rage. She couldn't win; but she could hurt them. THAT is a victory.

Oakstar (Dark Forest) For glory. After StarClan unfairly put him on that trial, he dedicated his life to trying to please them as they allowed a ridiculous rule to be implemented. His Crusades did not please StarClan, but they were wrong. They were a high point in history, never before nor since have warriors been so strong as when they brawled constantly, just for honor! Remember that warriors were made to fight, it is life's purpose.

Clawface (Dark Forest) For humility. All the strength in the world won't get an idiot very far, and it's easy to get caught off guard when you think you're at your most powerful. Never underestimate an opponent-- especially one you think will be easy to beat. (because he got killed by Graystripe lmao)

Shredtail (Dark Forest) For dedication. Always have a goal in mind, make every action a means to an end. Know what you want and cut a path towards it-- even through your allies, if it comes down to it.

And he looks around... is there no 9th cat to give him a life? Someone assures him that sometimes leaders don't get 9, when there aren't enough cats who wish for their long rule.

Angry, he's about to pack it up and move on, when a voice asks, "have I missed the party?"

It's Spottedleaf, his old friend... and a cat who was caught in the crossfire of his scheme to replace Lionheart. She plays with him a bit. "I'll give you a life... but I won't tell you what it is! Do you trust me?" knowing Spotty, and knowing he got her killed, and knowing she knows now that he killed her brother, he thinks about this... but his ambition wins out. He wants to win as long as possible.

The life she gives him is for death. For his first to be his last. She lays a curse on him that day as revenge for what he did and what he became; that his reign will be short and his ending bloody.

Later, when Tigerstar is striking the Impossible Deal with Scourge that he does not plan to honor, the leader of BloodClan pauses to consider the alliance... Clan cats are a dishonorable bunch, and BloodClan formed in the first place to oppose their violent crusades. Scourge is no fool, there's no way this broad-shouldered scoundrel is planning to make good on his side of the bargain.

But against his better judgement, as if the wind whispers in his ear... he agrees.

Adeuce arranged marriage au plot bunny

Adeuce arranged marriage AU idea.  Arranged marriages are a common thing for mages in their world and Deuce and Ace’s moms arrange a marriage when they are like itty bitty babies.

They decide to bring them together every summer so that they wont be marrying complete strangers.  And maybe they’ll just naturally develop chemistry.

It goes about as well as one would expect lmao!  Really it’s a lot like canon, but maybe a little less hostile because kids.  But they kind of develop a like brother’s style relationship, you know as kids do.  Sometimes fighting like cats and dogs and other times they’re thick as thieves.

Then in middle school, Deuce goes through his deliquent phase and Ace is wtf.  and let’s face it, we know Ace wouldn’t tolerate that bullshit at all (even though he thinks Deuce looks really cool and kind of hot when he’s in bad boy mode.)  But they eventually have a big fight and both say some things and throw fists and spells and it’s pretty relationshipship ending?  And definitely engagement ending, right?

Like their parent’s don’t officially end it, but Deuce’s mom sees no point in going through with it when her son is being that kind of person.  Which probably feeds into the moment when he catches her crying over his bad behavior and has his big realization.  That and Deuce also has a lot of super truthful criticisms Ace made sticking in his head as well, so Deuce decides to change like in canon.

I’m not sure if during this time Ace dates that one girl he mentioned or not, because I actually feel like Ace is upright enough to not do that while engaged, though I can also see him being like “that’s something our parent’s decided.”  Also he’s mad and maybe curious and it goes like... in canon and he dumps her, also probably with a side realizing he’d have enjoyed hanging out with Deuce more.  And now Ace wishes he’d handled their fight differently even though he still thinks he was right.

Honestly, they’re both realizing they actually enjoyed each other’s company and those visits were the best part of summer vacation.  But well, they fucked it up and both have a little too much pride to just talk it out.  They don’t see each other that summer and it feels really damn lonely.

It’s only when they both get enroll in Night Raven College that they finally meet again.  Ace probably heard from his Mom about Deuce enrolling, but tried to play it off as nothing, because you know, we’re probalby not going to even be in the same dorm.  Deuce probably... some how managed not to hear it from his Mom.  She mentioned Ace was enrolled while he was half asleep or something and he forgot and she probably didn’t push him about it.

So when they see each other in the mirror chamber, they’re both dumbstruck.  Like... Ace is shocked by how much Deuce changed back to who he used to be.  Deuce is actually really glad to see Ace again and wants to like... clear the air and apologize.  But well they’re both prideful so it’s really awkward.  So like the prolouge chapter is them eventually clearing the air and making up and they like have big ex-boyfriend energy for the early part of the story (except they insist they’re not exes.)  Eventually at sometime someone (probably Cater) finds out they were engaged (Ace made some comment on magicam or something) and no they can never live it down.  All the couple jokes are like... amplifiied.

That said, I like to think they slowly work things out and realize they like each other and admit they actually do want to get married (I like to think sometime around ghost marriage because Deuce got jealous seeing Ace confess to Eliza and ended up owning up to it and teased Ace about his whole ideal relationship spiel and Ace admitted he had Deuce in mind during it) .

But they are still dumbasses and sometimes everyone wonders how they will survive marraige, but it’s also like, it works for them.

Ahh I'm sorry you went through that anon re: the Haikyuu! fic. Please don't guilt-trip yourself for it. Authors have lots of reasons for rewriting a fic, or deleting a fic, and sometimes even when it's had thousands of kudos they will still do it.

It sounds like you commented in general (since you say 'commented more' instead of just commented) which is like... really awesome. Who knows, maybe the author thought they were giving you the better version! You can always leave a comment and ask if they still have the original chapters on file somewhere if that author's still active, and if they'd be willing to share them with you somehow.

13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you write about? What is easy?

I was going to answer this with 'easy, everything I don't write' lmao because I just avoid the stuff I find hardest. But that's kind of...not the point. So in all seriousness:

Big ensemble scenes with big ensemble casts. I don't know why I insist on writing these a fair bit, but anything that has more than two characters in a scene is a struggle. More than four is like 'OH GOD.' It's just a lot of work in a different kind of way.

Happy endings. It's not that they're difficult to write, exactly, it's that I'm often...kind of sad to be letting go of the story and I feel like I've already let it go at the point that I'm writing the happy ending. Like, I am not happiest when I'm writing the happy ending, though I want it to feel really really good for readers. I love happy endings, but I also get really noticeable lag and slow down a bit towards the end of stories, because I have less motivation. An ending means letting go of that version of the world, or that installment, and my brain is like 'dun wanna.'

Beginnings/openings. I don't really enjoy the first few pages of a first chapter and I know I'm not often good at beginnings which further preys on my 'everyone is going to hate this story' insecurity I have at the beginning of a new thing.

Action scenes used to be in this but they're not as much anymore. But I do really struggle with sex scenes too! And I think that's a reason I don't write them as much as I used to. It's not a bad thing, one of the reasons they're harder is because I want them to be good and I just don't want to do carbon copies of previous sex scenes and I've now written like 200 of them.

As for things I find easy, hmm. I'm going to go with broadscale characterisation and dialogue. I also think generating character and place names is really easy, and inventing species to populate a new world is easy. I also think describing nature is easy for me, though I sometimes feel silly or like...I'm boring people when I describe it, so I try not to do it toooo much.

I'm bad at writing description but hilariously I don't find it difficult. x.x Maybe that's why I'm bad at it.

34. Thoughts on the Oxford comma, Go:

Since you don't mind unpopular opinions I hope you don't mind this one: I fucking don't rate the Oxford Comma and try to avoid using it wherever possible. It's really easy to avoid some of the errors an Oxford Comma can prevent through context, and frankly, the Oxford Comma can create its own issues which can be prevented through not using it. You can avoid or introduce ambiguity whether you do or don't use it, basically, one solves some problems and introduces others, the other solves some problems and introduces others.

In that sense, it's understandable why it's not mandated in many style guides. It is preferable in US English, but damn, I'm not from the USA. And the Oxford Style Guide recommends it but the Oxford Style Manual recommends against it. Australian Style Guides, including the one issued by the government, generally oppose its use, but it's not mandated, so it's really at the author's discretion.

I've tried using it. Like, I've sat down and thought 'right I'm going to give this a good shot' and I just really don't like it. So you'll see a handful here and there in my writing where I thought 'okay let's try it' and then just been like nahhhh.

I have no problems with other people using it, and those people can have all the extra commas I'm not using because damn, they'll need them. :D

new to tumblr and wanna start posting stories. i have no fucking clue what im doing or how this works. how did you get the fonts you use for your posts? any tips for beginners and posting stories and all that stuff? im confused AHHHHH.

I'm still a VERY new writer on here as well lmao, but here's some stuff that I wish I knew beforehand :

it really just comes up to what aesthetic you want, knowing what style you like will help with formatting your posts, whether you like the banner look or just text format its really just up to preferences . for me I really like the kpop writer side of Tumblr so that's where my style really comes from. so not copying but taking inspo from your favorite writers will always help lean you in the right aesthetic direction .

if you're talking about how I title my fics I literally just use any font keyboard app that gives you a scroll full of options to choose from or just use some random copy and paste font website like lingo jam or something .

always check to see if your fics are posted in tags, always . sometimes it takes a reupload or two for your posts to show up in the tags, remember there's no shame in reposting if you're not getting any reach .

changing your theme a thousand times is so normal! I've probably changed mine like eight times since I first started my account, I know some moots do some cute seasonal ones which are pretty cunt and I feel like helps followers pick you from the crowd .

get that masterslist in early, whether its a cute pinned welcome post navigating to all your writing or a bio link . I promise you readers love when writing is easily accessible, I also personally hate scrolling through posts just to find someones navigation .

make mutiple blogs if you want to separate posts! right now I have a sims, kpop, fanfic rec, and this blog just to keep things separate and less messy looking .

you don't have to post or write every damn day, burn out is a thing that happens to everyone some more faster than others its fine to just take a damn break whether for a day or a damn month . give your brain a break!

its okay to say no . I've rejected so many fucking fic requests that were either crossing a boundary, for a character I didn't like, or even just because I didn't like the scenario they offered . and that's fine, you're not a robot write what you fucking want .

beta read your work . reading sucks when its you're own writing I get it, but don't let those typo's beat your ass fren .

okay so when i watch dramas i always write notes about how i felt after watching an episode, just to like look back on but like they’re actually funny so i wanted to post some on here to share.

here's a silly little childhood friends high school au! with some good ol' mutual pining!! <3

Sasara was a known clown. Every bone in his body was a funny bone, and in all honesty Rosho didn't hate that about him. He dutifully played the part of the long-suffering straight man whenever Sasara got up to his usual antics, but he didn't genuinely feel like he 'suffered' Sasara at all.

There was only one joke Rosho didn't much care for.

Unfortunately, these days, it seemed to be Sasara's favorite joke.

"I don't know how you put up with him, Tsutsujimori," one of their classmates complained, after Sasara once again assaulted their whole class with an objectively god-awful pun.

"Force of habit," Rosho answered wearily.

At the exact same moment, Sasara joked, "We're madly in love, he has to put up with me."

Some people laughed, some people rolled their eyes, and Rosho heaved a great big sigh.

It wasn't… untrue, is the thing. At least not on Rosho's part.

He had no idea when it happened, and he was damn sure it meant there was something wrong with him, but he had at some point… maybe… kinda sorta… caught feelings for that horrible little clown.

Maybe it wasn't a recent development. Maybe he'd cared about Sasara since they were kids at the same daycare. Maybe that was why he hadn't noticed it creeping up on him.

They were second-years in high school now. Plenty of their peers were dating, or at least had dating on the mind, and Rosho had come to realize that his feelings for Sasara were regrettably trending in a decidedly amorous direction.

So it was less than ideal, to put it lightly, that Sasara had taken such a shine to cracking jokes about their (lack of a) relationship as of late.

It wasn't new for their classmates to question why Rosho tolerated him, but Sasara seemed to have a new response for those questions every other day.

"We're lovers in the nighttime."

"I'm a fabulous kisser."

"We're basically common-law married by now."

It was almost enough to make Rosho tear his own hair out.

Just how serious was Sasara when he said these things? The obvious answer was 'not very', because Sasara was hardly ever very serious about anything at all.

But what if…?

Most days, Rosho was sure that was just wishful thinking. But sometimes, he could swear he felt Sasara studying him after cracking one of those jokes, as though to gauge his reaction.

If Rosho wasn't just imagining that, what sort of reaction was Sasara looking for?

What sort of reaction was Rosho allowed to show?

"Rosho, seriously," another classmate groaned, jerking a thumb at Sasara after Sasara dropped another pun against humanity one day. "What do you even see in this guy?"

"Himself," Sasara quipped without missing a beat.

And Rosho, who had apparently had quite enough, heard himself deadpan, "Myself."

There was a moment of dead silence before they got the biggest laugh of their whole high school career to date. But when Rosho dared sneak a furtive glance at Sasara, he found that Sasara wasn't laughing at all.

Sasara wasn't even smiling.

"Did you mean it?" Sasara asked, when they took a break from studying in Rosho's room later that night.

Rosho opened his mouth. Any number of sharp comebacks flitted through his mind.

Did you?

Do you ever mean it?

Maybe I mean it as much as you do.

Maybe I mean it as much as you want me to.

But it was just the two of them there. They were alone, without an audience, and Rosho had very little interest in being funny about this.

"Yeah," he said in the end. "I did."

This time, when he snuck a glance at Sasara, he found the biggest grin on Sasara's face. Not the cheeky sort he flashed whenever he told a good joke, but a genuine smile which shone with such radiant joy that Rosho found himself wanting to kiss it, to see if it tasted as much like the sun as it looked like it would.

And so he did.

Because that smile said it all.

Even if it was nested in glib jokes and adolescent humor, Sasara had meant it too.

Okay, one more thing and I'll shut up.

I guess what really bugs me about the "KH1 is also Kairi’s fault because she hurt Riku’s feelings" stuff is that – aside from it not being true because she quite literally did nothing to him – is that it comes off as kind of entitled? Especially when you consider the whole "Riku is actually the light" argument fans were pushing post-KH3.

It’s like, if Kairi does something good like saving Sora in KH3 – something totally unique to her abilities as a Princess of Heart – well, Actually, she couldn’t have possibly done that herself. Riku should get credit for that.

But if Riku does something wrong – like letting his ambition override his love for his friends (something that lays the foundation of his entire redemption arc in this series) – Kairi deserves the blame. Because she should’ve been nice to him or something (never mind that she is, lmao. She just teases him the same way he does her. Because they’re friends.).

And I used to just chalk all this up to standard shipping nonsense (for obvious reasons), but honestly, sometimes it really does come off as straight-up misogyny. Like sure, a male character did something wrong, but this female character should’ve stopped him. Or she could’ve prevented it by placating him more, or by giving him whatever it was he felt entitled to.

And it’s frustrating because Riku is a fascinating and well-written character, but that’s mostly due to his redemption arc which you can’t fully appreciate if you ignore his single-mindedness and entitlement at the start of KH1 and instead just blame Kairi.

And I’m not saying everyone who claims Kairi owes something to Riku for KH1 is doing it to be an asshole or even consciously doing anything, really. Odds are that it's just one of those fanon interpretations that got so popular everyone forgot it isn't actually supported by canon.

But I do think it's part of a larger pattern of how fandoms treat male characters who fuck up vs. female characters who have the audacity to acknowledge that he fucked up (like Zuko fans with Katara, or Snape fans with Lily), and that really bothers me. And I think it bothers me more in this case because – again – Kairi didn’t even do anything. She would be justified in being mad at Riku, but she never is. By the time you get her to the Traverse Town waterway, it's clear that she sees Riku a victim who needs help, not a perpetrator. Kairi merely made a single (accurate) observation about him back home that wasn’t even critical of him in any way, and fandom blew it out of proportion.

Anyway, this post is too damn long, so TL;DR: Kairi Did Nothing Wrong in KH1, and I just wish fandom would give her less flack for things she doesn’t do and more credit for what she does do.

so. alice in borderland season 2. i have a lot of thoughts. spoilers ahead, obviously.

so to start off, i’m coming from the perspective of someone who read the second half of the manga and a few extra bits - so i know i am missing some of the characterization, but not all of the characterization. that said, while i like the inclusion of new games unique to the show, i’m not really wild about them cutting dodo’s inclusion in the plot to make it work - i think the dodo-heya-agni storyline serves a bit more than throwing arisu briefly in dodo’s spot (though i do love that they just fucking yeeted arisu off a cliff, that was fun lmao). but yeah, they showed heya’s seven of spades game, they could just have easily shown dodo in four of hearts. 

or even better yet? give us a second season that’s starts in with the first few episodes being introductions to the newer characters and how they ended up in the borderland: give heya the full episode to be introduced in seven of spades, an episode for dodo to show off four of hearts, maybe let chishiya play six of diamonds and do his backstory there, and then start into the festivities for four episodes. Then, for funsies, since saori’s already dead and we don’t need to do much with her character, let banda do two of hearts in saori’s place, and then end season 2 with banda walking up the stairs to the penitentiary, so they have more basis to alternate narrators (or just pull chishiya out entirely as it is in the manga) for jack of hearts. why am i so insistent on taking more time instead of less? BECAUSE GOD DAMN THAT KUINA-ANN MONTAGE SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT LEAST TWO EPISODES OF “KICKASS LESBIANS: THE SERIES (ALSO ARISU IS SOMETIMES IN THE BACKGROUND)” seriously they put so much into such a short time that i WISH they would have let their relationship flourish more meaningfully, and explain the games they played together a bit - even if they’re original games, it’s fun to see more happening and more thought put into the universe!

with those thoughts out of the way - there were some absolute fucking knockout games this time. the fact that they got fucking YAMAPI to be kyuma literally dropped my jaw in disbelief, and he did a fantastic job carrying it. king of diamonds was similarly absolutely fucking NAILED in the emotion of the performance - two very logical and calculating characters having subdued, but incredibly emotional moments as they play the game. queen of hearts? chills down my spine - it’s such a hard game to translate from the manga, but the choices they made really were fantastic. also mira is gaslight gatekeep girlboss and i love that for her. jack of hearts was an interesting choice to bring in chishiya, but i think it was smart to keep a character involved to keep us interested in the action based on the cast we already know and love.

king of spades sort of fell in the middle for me. as referenced for the entire first half of the post here i’m not really happy that they excluded dodo, but man they handled the rest of the main crew so well through the finale of it. not only allowing his inclusion be a believable driver for a lot of the relationships (kuina and ann, heya and agni,) showing off just *how much* power shirabi has - the fact that a 5 v 1 confrontation ends with 1 dead and 4 wounded, and even a concentrated explosion leaves him still clinging to life. but for all the work they put into showing how strong he is, it felt like they rushed through his backstory too quickly, and his death doesn’t feel as impactful as the manga.

speaking of rushed through! queen of spades. i know this was a show original but damn they really just sorta. rushed in a whole bunch of plot that didn’t really make sense, then threw us into the game, gave us the rousing speech, and then fun cool shot of risa getting nailed midair by the laser. i think with more time for the plot setup this would have been more meaningful, but i already belabored that above as well.

overall? solid fucking season despite my qualms, and i'm hoping we get a prequel/retry/border road series in the future, cause damn the joker on the table ain’t quite the same as joker in the manga lmao

Yet another writing-related rant (it's actually a rant lmao)

Okay, I don't want to see "wow let's make sure now more than ever to have positive queer rep" bc while it's good to have that, it's not wrong to have toxic queer characters, and that won't make the fucking fashies like us more!

How about we all just write what we want to write, making sure it's not bigoted*, and stop fucking supporting book bans along the fascists bc if you hadn't noticed, it's after ANY queer rep and ANY rep for people of color.

*And make sure when you're working around this, you're not attacking people who talk about the discrimination they've faced. Work on boycotting bigoted propaganda.

Positive representation is important, but the people who write the less positive stuff aren't your fucking enemy. I fall under the queer umbrella several times, and I've met people who are toxic in that community.

Actually, you know what? I'm a better person than I used to be, but there have been times I've been hurtful or toxic too. I work to be better every fucking day, but I grew up with some shitty people and I used to hurt myself, and in doing so, I was hurting my friends. I would be hard on myself and make fun of things with friends so we could all feel better about ourselves, and do you know what that fucking did? NOTHING GOOD. Sometimes people aren't great. And honestly, someone who isn't great might get better! Someone who was horrible to you might go on to be a better person to other people. As long as they're learning to be better. For those that do harm that requires legal consequences, they need legal consequences. But let's not say "they're not queer" or w/e. Harm is done in all groups.

I'm currently wrapping up a story that has two abusive gay fathers. And before anyone says, "Queer people make better parents" NO ALL PARENTS CAN MAKE MISTAKES

And I've seen plenty of queer people normalize spanking kids, heck I've seen it even when they have spanking kinks. Like, nah, I'm sorry, go fucking read Psychopathia Sexualis cases to see how many found their kink via childhood (and I dislike Krafft-Ebing immensely, but at least he even said "maybe we should stop spanking kids"), look up Rousseau, actually just do any research for an hour and you'll find out how much of a sexual violation that was for so many people when they were kids.

And even if the kids don't find it sexually violating, they can still be messed up from it. It's not effective.

And you'd think(???) with all the queer people who are like "my parents beat the shit out of me when they found out I am gay/trans/etc" they'd be less inclined to be chill about child abuse. But no. Actually. So many still justify it. Practice it. We need toxic stories just as much as positive ones, because it's actually a good sign that if you read something with toxic characters and find it uncomfortable, you recognize that the behavior is bad! I have positive representation but damn I have negative representation bc sometimes I need a good fucking cry over my exasperation over the world.

Anyway. Yeah. Today's ruling shouldn't end with "oh my god positive representation of queer people is SO IMPORTANT after today" yeah no let's all be loud and proud, and if someone is truly doing harm, we make sure to take measures to lessen that harm.

I really wish people realized fucked up fiction can be catharsis and informative, and IRL offers some horrifying shit that we sometimes have to write about through fiction to tell our stories or it hits too close to home. I literally was reading a thread about people's experiences growing up in cults/churches just last night and think maybe that's an actual thing to work on fighting in the US.

I'm going to write toxic shit and if you go in thinking that the exposure to it will make you suddenly do terrible things, maybe think about if you weren't already a horrible person going in or why you think fiction is a how-to manual (and never an insight to what has already been done to people). Personally, I can read something awful and go, "Yeah that's wrong, and I have a solid personal moral system that still holds up after I consumed this fiction."
