Sneaking around was fun.
Jeonghan never thought it would be this fun, but sneaking around with Luna?
It was exhilarating.
There was something about stolen moments, the quiet thrill of being together without anyone knowing. It wasn’t that they wanted to keep secrets from their friends, but the world they had built for themselves, just the two of them, was intoxicating.
Every glance, every brush of the hand when no one was looking, held more weight, more intimacy. They shared something that no one else could see, and the act of hiding it made everything so much sweeter.
It was a game, really— one they never planned to play but found themselves drawn into. The way they would lock eyes across a crowded room, knowing exactly what the other was thinking. Or how Jeonghan would casually sit beside her during rehearsals, his fingers lightly grazing her leg under the table, completely unnoticed by everyone else.
The secret made the connection between them even more intense, amplifying the quiet, unspoken moments they shared.
Ever since that one night…
It all started one passionate night— a night that neither of them would ever forget. They had been close for so long, their bond deepening naturally with time. But that night changed everything.
The tension that had been simmering for months finally broke, and they found themselves in tangled each other’s arms, both of them giving in to what they had been feeling for so long. It was like a dam had burst, and from that moment on, there was no going back.
After that night, they were inseparable.
There was a new intensity to the way they existed around each other, a magnetic pull that neither of them could resist.
If they were in the same room, they gravitated toward each other, always finding some way to be close— whether it was sitting next to each other during team dinners, or slipping away for a quick moment together during breaks.
The honeymoon phase was real, and they were living it.
Every moment they could steal for themselves was golden. Jeonghan would find ways to be alone with her, whether it was a late-night talk after a long day of practice or sneaking out to the rooftop to enjoy the quiet, starry night together. They would talk for hours about everything and nothing, just enjoying each other’s company.
Sometimes, it didn’t even matter what they said; it was just about being together.
Jeonghan often found himself watching her, completely mesmerized by the smallest things she did. The way she tucked her hair behind her ear when she was deep in thought, the way her eyes lit up when she laughed.
And Luna, too, couldn’t help but get lost in the softness of his gaze, the way he would quietly take her hand under the table or brush a stray hair from her face when he thought no one was looking. They were locked in their own world, so attuned to each other that the rest of the world faded into the background.
Their whole relationship was a secret by accident.
They hadn’t planned on keeping it a secret. It wasn’t like they had some grand scheme to hide their relationship from the rest of the group. But life had a way of getting in the way.
There were practices, recordings, filming schedules, performances— everything piling up one after the other. Their lives were so hectic that there never seemed to be a perfect moment to tell the other members— not that they realized anything was going on… Luna and Jeonghan were just being the exact same according to them.
At first, couple thought they would sit everyone down, have a proper conversation, maybe even laugh about it afterward. But the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, and the perfect moment never came.
The idea of revealing their relationship over a rushed text message felt wrong. This was something significant, something that deserved more than just a casual mention in passing.
It wasn’t about not trusting the other members; they knew that their friends would be nothing but supportive. It was about finding the right time— when they could explain things fully, face to face. When they could show just how serious they were about each other.
But the right time never came.
The longer they waited, the busier they became.
And so they didn’t tell.
They just… let it be.
Every time Jeonghan or Luna would think about bringing it up, something would happen. A sudden practice session, an emergency meeting. And with each passing day, it just became easier to keep it to themselves.
It wasn’t that they were trying to deceive anyone. It was just that life was moving too fast, and their relationship— this precious thing they had created— felt too sacred to rush an announcement.
However, there was something thrilling about it.
Over time, sneaking around became a part of their routine. The thrill of catching glances, of brushing hands in secret, of exchanging knowing smiles when no one else was looking— it was like living in their own secret movie.
They would send quick, playful texts when the others weren’t paying attention, or find ways to meet in secluded spots during their schedules. They had their little hideouts— places in the company building or backstage at events where no one would think to look for them. There, they could steal a kiss or two, holding each other tightly in moments where the rest of the world couldn’t reach them.
Jeonghan loved the moments when they’d sneak away after hours, meeting in quiet corners where they wouldn’t be found. Like that time they slipped out after a late recording session and sat on the rooftop, huddled together under the stars, away from the noise of the world.
They had laughed quietly as they whispered about how none of the members had any idea. Or that one time backstage during a performance, when he had pulled her into an empty dressing room, pressing a quick kiss to her lips before they both had to rush back on stage.
Then there were the fleeting touches— Jeonghan brushing his fingers along the back of her hand when no one was watching, Luna squeezing his knee under the table during a team meeting.
These were their secret ways of communicating when words weren’t enough. The thrill of not being caught, of knowing that this was something just between the two of them, made every touch feel electric.
There were a lot of impulsive moments where both Jeonghan and Luna threw their caution out the window.
A lot— a concerning amount.
Like that time at the recording studio…
The studio was buzzing, but it wasn't loud enough to drown out Jeonghan's thoughts.
They were supposed to be focusing on the new track, practicing harmonies with the rest of the group. But every time Luna moved beside him, her elbow brushing against his arm, his focus slipped. It was maddening, the way she was so close yet felt so far.
Jeonghan cast a sidelong glance at her, watching the way she absentmindedly tapped her fingers on the music sheet. He could see the hint of a smile on her lips, and it drove him crazy knowing she had no idea what she was doing to him.
He leaned in, his lips just grazing the shell of her ear, voice barely audible as he murmured, "Come with me."
Luna's fingers froze mid-tap, but she didn't look at him, her eyes still on the paper. "Now?" she whispered back, pretending to stay focused on the task at hand.
She knew exactly what he wanted, but the room was filled with people— members, staff, producers.
It was reckless.
Jeonghan smirked, leaning just a little closer, his breath warm against her ear. "Right now."
A soft blush crept across Luna's cheeks, but she kept her voice steady. "We're supposed to be practicing." Her eyes darted toward him briefly before looking away, her resolve weakening with each passing second.
Jeonghan, though, knew her well enough by now. He saw the way her lips quirked at the corners, the slight shift in her body language that told him she was already considering it.
"We won't be long," he said, voice dripping with amusement. "Just a little break."
She finally turned her head, her eyes locking with his, amusement dancing in the depths of her gaze. "You're impossible."
"And you love it," he teased, his hand already gently tugging her wrist beneath the table where no one could see. The others were too engrossed in their own parts to notice. He gave her a knowing look, his thumb tracing small circles on her skin. "Come on. Ten minutes."
“That’s a long fucking time for a ‘little break’.” Luna tried reasoning with him but she knew it was no use.
“What are they gonna do? Fire us?” Jeonghan sassed back before smirking.
Luna hesitated for a fraction of a second, casting a quick glance around the room. No one was paying attention. Her heart raced as she weighed the risk, but deep down, she knew there was no saying no to Jeonghan when he got that glint in his eye.
“Nana-ya,” Jeonghan whispered as he tugged on her arm again, more insistent this time, and she exhaled softly, surrendering.
"Fine," she muttered, but the small smile playing on her lips betrayed her excitement.
Without a word, Jeonghan stood up, casually stretching his arms as though he was just taking a break from the session.
Luna followed suit, quietly slipping behind him. They walked out of the room, their steps in perfect sync as they made their way down the narrow hallway. The further they went, the faster her pulse raced, anticipation curling in her chest.
Jeonghan glanced over his shoulder, grinning as he led her to a small, unused room at the end of the corridor.
The door clicked shut behind them, and Luna felt the immediate change in the atmosphere— the quiet, intimate space wrapping around them like a blanket.
She barely had time to react before Jeonghan was in front of her, his hands sliding up her arms to her shoulders, pulling her in. His smile was playful, teasing, but his eyes were intense. "I've been wanting to do this all day," he murmured, his voice low as he dipped his head closer to hers.
Luna's heart skipped a beat, but she shook her head, half-heartedly trying to keep some semblance of control. "We're going to get caught."
He hummed, brushing a stray hair behind her ear, his fingertips lingering against her cheek. "Maybe." His lips hovered just inches from hers, his breath fanning across her skin, making her stomach flutter. "But isn't that part of the fun?"
Luna opened her mouth to protest, but before she could say anything, Jeonghan closed the distance between them, his lips capturing hers in a soft, lingering kiss. It was slow at first, a gentle press of lips that quickly deepened as he coaxed her to respond. Her hands instinctively found their way to the front of his shirt, gripping the fabric as she melted into him, the tension in her body slipping away with every passing second.
When they finally broke apart, Jeonghan rested his forehead against hers, their breaths mingling in the small space between them. "You always give in," he whispered, his tone light but filled with affection.
Luna huffed a soft laugh, her eyes fluttering open to meet his. "You make it impossible to resist."
He grinned, kissing the tip of her nose. "Good."
She playfully pushed his chest, though there was no force behind it. "We really shouldn't be doing this here."
Jeonghan leaned back, his hand sliding down her arm to lace their fingers together. "You say that every time, but here we are."
She gave him a mock glare, though the corners of her mouth betrayed her as they quirked upward. "One of these days, we're actually going to get caught."
He shrugged, unbothered, his thumb brushing over her knuckles. "Then I guess we'll deal with it when it happens." He tugged her a little closer, leaning down to kiss her again, this time slower, savoring the moment. When he pulled away, his eyes were soft, the teasing edge replaced with something more sincere. "I just want to be with you. Doesn't matter where."
Her heart swelled at his words, and she smiled, resting her head against his chest for a brief moment. "Yoon Jeonghan, you're impossible, you know that?"
He chuckled, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. "And you love me for it."
Luna sighed, pulling away just enough to look up at him, her eyes twinkling. "Yeah. I do."
They stayed there for a moment longer, the world outside that tiny room fading into the background. There was nothing but the two of them, their shared breath, their intertwined fingers. And in that quiet space, everything else ceased to matter.
That time during one of their team dinners…
The restaurant was alive with the sound of laughter, clinking glasses, and the chaotic chatter of thirteen boys— fourteen, counting Luna, who sat across from Jeonghan at the long table. The night was loud, but neither of them noticed. Their attention was pulled away from the noise of their friends, entirely focused on each other.
Luna sat back in her chair, her chin resting in the palm of her hand, pretending to listen to the conversation next to her.
But beneath the table, her foot brushed against Jeonghan’s leg. It was a light touch at first, so subtle it could be mistaken for an accident. But the moment she felt him shift slightly in response, she pressed her foot against him again, a ghost of a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips.
Jeonghan looked up, meeting her gaze across the table, his eyes narrowing just slightly in amusement. The lively atmosphere around them melted into the background, fading into a blur of laughter and voices. His foot moved under the table, lightly nudging hers back, playing along with the silent game she’d initiated. His lips twitched as he watched her reaction.
Meanwhile, the rest of the members were oblivious, deep in their own world of boisterous conversation and drinks. Mingyu was loudest, his laughter booming across the table as he slapped Woozi’s back, nearly spilling the contents of his drink.
“Hyung, you should’ve seen it! I swear, he tripped over his own feet!” Mingyu exclaimed between laughs, his large frame shaking with each burst of laughter.
Woozi shot him a deadpan look, pushing his drink aside. “You’re exaggerating. I didn’t trip. You’re clumsy one.”
“I’m not clumsy!” Mingyu protested, but his voice was lost to the noise of the table as the others chimed in with their own comments.
“I think you are,” Hoshi teased from the other end, raising his glass, clearly drunk out of his wits. “To Mingyu, our tall and graceful giant!”
The group erupted into laughter, but Jeonghan barely heard it. His focus was entirely on Luna. Her foot grazed against his again, the touch sending a jolt of anticipation through him. She was watching him closely now, her eyes gleaming with a mix of teasing and mischief. Jeonghan, never one to back down from a challenge, pushed his foot back against hers, this time more firmly.
The corners of her mouth lifted, just enough for him to notice, and she pressed her foot against his again, slipping it between his calves, testing how far she could push before someone caught on.
He leaned back in his chair, arms casually resting on the back of the seat next to him, as if he was completely unaffected. But the truth was, his heart was pounding in his chest, excitement swirling in his stomach.
The game they were playing, right under everyone’s noses, was intoxicating.
Luna tilted her head, pretending to listen to something Seungkwan was saying next to her, but her focus remained on Jeonghan. Her foot slid up along his leg, slowly, deliberately. Jeonghan bit the inside of his cheek, fighting the urge to smile too widely, knowing the members would notice.
Seungkwan, oblivious to the under-the-table antics, was going on about his latest variety show appearance, hands gesturing animatedly. “And then they asked me to do the aegyo thing— again. Can you believe it? I mean, I’m more than just cute, you know!”
Vernon raised a brow, taking a sip of his drink. “Sure, man. Whatever helps you sleep at night.”
Seungkwan gasped dramatically, slapping Vernon’s arm. “You’re supposed to be on my side!”
“Let’s be honest,” Joshua chimed in with a grin, “you do the aegyo thing too well. They’re never going to stop asking.”
The group burst into laughter again, but Jeonghan remained silent, his gaze locked on Luna’s. She was clearly enjoying herself, watching him squirm under her subtle touches. Her eyes flickered to his leg, and she pushed her foot higher, grazing the inside of his knee.
Jeonghan shifted slightly, trying to maintain his composure, but it was getting harder with each passing second. The heat between them, the secret they shared, was making it difficult to focus on anything else. He could feel her foot teasing him, slow and deliberate, as if daring him to break first.
He wasn’t going to let her win that easily.
In one swift motion, Jeonghan pushed his foot forward, trapping hers between his legs. Luna’s eyes widened in surprise, and her lips parted in a small gasp. She glanced up at him, her eyes flashing with both challenge and amusement.
Jeonghan smirked. Got you, his eyes seemed to say.
But before either of them could make another move, Jeonghan suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder, snapping him out of the trance Luna had put him in.
“Hyung, you alright?” It was Dokyeom, his brow furrowed as he leaned in, clearly noticing Jeonghan’s unusual silence. “You’ve been staring off into space for the last five minutes.”
Jeonghan blinked, quickly forcing a nonchalant smile. “Oh, yeah. Just… thinking.” He gave a lazy stretch, trying to shake off the tension that had built up during his and Luna’s silent exchange.
Dokyeom raised an eyebrow, unconvinced as he teased. “Thinking? You? Since when?”
Jeonghan laughed, deflecting with ease. “Since always, Dokyeomie. I have a lot of deep thoughts— plus I was listening to you guys.”
Dokyeom rolled his eyes but seemed satisfied with the response. “Yeah, sure. I’ll try to believe that.”
Jeonghan gave him a light shove.
Dokyeom laughed, oblivious to the real reason behind Jeonghan’s distraction, before turning back to the rest of the conversation. But Jeonghan’s attention had already shifted back to Luna. She was watching him, her foot still trapped between his legs, her lips quirking into a knowing smile.
As the conversation around them picked up again, Luna pressed her foot against him one more time, her silent message clear: This isn’t over.
Jeonghan bit back a laugh, but in his attempt to regain control, his knee accidentally bumped into the edge of the table with a loud thud. The plates and glasses rattled, and several heads turned in his direction.
“Hyung!” Minghao exclaimed, his eyes wide with amusement. “Are you okay?”
Jeonghan waved it off, rubbing his knee with a sheepish grin. “Sorry, I uh— just got a little too comfortable.”
But across the table, Luna chuckled quietly, her eyes dancing with amusement as she watched him squirm under the scrutiny of their friends. Jeonghan shot her a playful glare, mouthing the words, You’ll pay for that later.
She only smiled wider, her foot giving him one last teasing nudge before retreating, her expression one of pure satisfaction.
It was risky, but that was part of the fun.
Every shared touch, every secret kiss carried a weight of excitement that was almost addicting.
They never meant to hide it.
It was never supposed to be a secret for this long. But as days turned into months, they realized they liked it— this bubble they had created for themselves, away from the chaos of their public lives.
Their relationship was something they could protect, something that was purely theirs, away from the spotlight. It wasn’t about hiding from their friends, but about keeping something precious between the two of them for a little longer.
They knew they would tell the members eventually, but for now, this was theirs.
And they weren’t quite ready to let that go.
Until they accidentally did…
Which was strange— they had been careful. Hyper-aware of their surroundings.
But it was bound to happen.
A reckless moment, a stolen kiss, a door left unlocked. That was all it took.
And it happened in the practice room.
The room was empty, dimly lit by the white glow of the ceiling lights, the faint hum of music still playing from the speakers. Hours of practice had drained them both, and now, with the studio vacant, it felt like their own little sanctuary.
Jeonghan sat against the mirrored wall, legs stretched out, his arm draped lazily over Luna’s shoulder as she sat beside him, mirroring his posture. The air between them was thick with exhaustion, but also with something softer— something indulgent.
They had been talking, murmuring quiet teases about who had fumbled more during practice, until the teasing had dwindled into comfortable silence. Then, it had happened naturally, like second nature. Luna had turned her head toward him, and Jeonghan had already been looking at her. His fingers traced along her jaw, brushing back the stray strands of hair sticking to her slightly damp skin.
And then he kissed her.
Slow, unhurried, the kind of kiss that spoke of familiarity and comfort, but also of something greedy, something that thrived in the secrecy of these hidden moments.
Luna responded just as eagerly, her fingers curling around the collar of his shirt, pulling him impossibly closer. Jeonghan sighed into her lips, tilting his head, deepening the kiss, drowning in the feeling of just them.
They were completely lost in it.
So lost that they didn’t hear the door swing open.
Didn’t hear the footsteps.
Didn’t hear the chorus of gasps and the sharp inhale of about twelve different people collectively losing their minds.
“OH MY GOD— WHAT THE HELL?!”
Luna and Jeonghan froze.
For a split second, they stayed completely still, lips barely apart, breath mingling, before reality crashed down on them like a landslide. Luna jerked back like she had been burned, heart hammering against her ribs as her wide, horrified eyes darted toward the entrance.
A sea of stunned expressions met her.
Seungkwan had a hand over his mouth, eyes stretched so wide it looked like they were about to pop out of their sockets. Vernon blinked once. Then twice. Then again, as if he was still processing what exactly he had just walked into. Dino, on the other hand, had taken a step back, his hands clutching his head as if he was physically trying to comprehend what he just saw.
“NO FUCKING WAY—”
“ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!”
“Oh, I knew it! I KNEW IT!”
“Wait, wait, hold on —what— how— WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?!”
Luna felt her entire body turn hot, her face burning in complete mortification as she let out a choked squeak and immediately buried her head in Jeonghan’s lap. Heaving in embarrassment, she curled into herself, as if the earth could swallow her whole if she just made herself small enough.
But Jeonghan?
Jeonghan, that insufferable man, merely leaned back against the wall with a lazy, unfazed grin.
“Well,” he drawled, “that could’ve gone better.”
“What do you mean ‘that could’ve gone better’— ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?!” Seungkwan exploded, still gripping his chest like he was about to have a heart attack. “We just walked in on you two making out and THAT’S YOUR REACTION?!”
Dokyeon let out a loud cackle, slapping his knee. “This is unreal! You guys were hiding this from us?! No, no, hold on, we need answers—”
“Answers?! We need a damn timeline!” Joshua exclaimed, shaking his head in disbelief. “I— this entire time?! This entire time? I mean… I had a feeling…”
Minghao folded his arms, letting out a small huff through his nose. “Can’t say I’m surprised.”
“I KNEW IT!” Hoshi screamed, pointing an accusatory finger at them. “I had a feeling! You two were always acting weird! The glances! The whispers! The suspicious disappearing acts! I CALLED IT!”
“You literally never said anything,” Jun pointed out.
Hoshi spun on his heel. “IT WAS A GUT FEELING.”
Woozi, who had remained silent this entire time, simply exhaled through his nose and pinched the bridge of it, muttering under his breath, “You guys are unbelievable.”
Meanwhile, Vernon blinked again, finally processing everything. “So… are we not gonna practice anymore?”
“VERNON, PLEASE—”
Through it all, Luna refused to lift her head, her ears burning, her entire body screaming in secondhand embarrassment. “Oh my god,” she mumbled against Jeonghan’s thigh, “I’m never showing my face again.”
Jeonghan chuckled, bringing a hand up to lazily ruffle her hair. “You’re fine, baby.”
“BABY?!”
A fresh round of chaos erupted.
Seungcheol, who had been standing in the center of it all in complete silence, finally let out a long, deep sigh. “Alright, everyone, calm down—”
“CALM DOWN?! HYUNG, WE JUST WALKED IN ON JEONGHAN HYUNG AND JIYEONIE—”
“I know.” S.Coups raised his voice just enough to cut through the noise. He ran a hand down his face before dropping it to his hip. “Honestly? I had my suspicions.”
A sharp gasp came out of Hoshi’s mouth. “YOU TOO?!”
“Well, yeah,” he deadpanned as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “I have eyes.”
Amidst all the screaming, the different reactions, the teasing, and the sheer chaos of the moment, there was one person standing at the back, watching it all unfold with a quiet, unreadable expression.
Mingyu.
His lips were curled in a small, wistful smile, but there was something else there, something deep in his eyes— a flicker of something sad, something resigned, something understanding.
But he didn’t say a word.
He only let out a soft breath, stuffed his hands into his pockets, and looked at the two.
Then, he smiled.
Genuinely.
And that was enough for now.
Luna was still curled up in Jeonghan’s lap, her face burning hot enough to rival the sun, as the chaos continued to erupt around them.
Her mortification knew no bounds.
The teasing, the yelling, the absolute lack of any sense of order— it was everything she feared would happen if they ever got caught. And yet, there was no judgment, no tension, just an overwhelming surge of disbelief, excitement, and too many voices screaming at once.
Jeonghan, on the other hand, was still as cool as ever, his fingers lazily running through Luna’s hair like this was just another Tuesday. He wore a smug grin, as if he wasn’t the least bit sorry they had been found out. If anything, he was enjoying this.
“You knew this would happen,” Luna mumbled against his thigh, voice muffled.
Jeonghan chuckled, leaning down to whisper, “l didn’t, Nana-ya. But it was worth it, don’t you think?”
She groaned and smacked his knee.
Meanwhile, the members had barely taken a breath before the flood of questions began.
“Alright, hyung,” Dokyeom huffed, crossing his arms. “You better start talking! How long has this been going on? When did you two start?”
“Yeah, what the hell, man?” Seungkwan gasped, still dramatically clutching his chest like he was recovering from a near-death experience. “A YEAR? A WHOLE YEAR?! WE SEE EACH OTHER EVERYDAY! HOW DID I NOT KNOW?”
“You see ALL of us everyday,” Joshua pointed out.
“THAT’S BESIDE THE POINT.”
“I just wanna know…” Dino lips curled into a mischievous smirk, his eyes glinting with something dangerous. “Who confessed first?”
That made Luna’s entire body tense.
Finally, she lifted her head— reluctantly— peeking up at them with a shy, thoroughly flustered expression. The moment she did, every single one of them zeroed in on her like predators finding their prey.
She gulped.
“Oh. Oh, she looks guilty as hell.” Hoshi grinned, rubbing his hands together. “Jiyeonie, you confessed first, didn’t you?”
Luna sputtered, her ears burning. “I—I—”
“She did,” Jeonghan answered smoothly, flashing that infuriatingly handsome smile.
Luna’s head snapped toward him, betrayal written all over her face. “Yoon Jeonghan, I swear to God—”
“Wait, wait—” Seungcheol, who had been oddly quiet until now, suddenly blinked in realization. He turned to Mingyu. “Bro. Remember? The 2017 thing.”
Fuck was all Luna could think of at the moment.
Mingyu’s eyes flickered slightly, but his reaction was calm as he nodded. “Yeah. I remember.”
“What 2017 thing?” Dino asked, tilting his head.
Joshua exhaled, shaking his head with a knowing smile. “Ah… I see now.”
“Okay, WHAT ARE YOU ALL TALKING ABOUT?” Seungkwan shrieked.
Dokyeom gasped. “JIYEONIE CONFESSED IN 2017, DIDN’T SHE?”
“I am going to kill someone.” Luna looked absolutely murderous.
Jeonghan, still wearing that stupid smirk, poked her cheek. “What’s wrong, baby? Embarrassed?”
The way her entire body flared at the pet name, especially with twelve pairs of eyes watching, was something the others would never let her live down.
“Hold on, I need a second—” Dokyeom leaned against Seungkwan for support, wheezing.
“Hyung, you’re cruel.” Minghao snorted, shaking his head. “You’re really throwing her into the lion’s den.”
“I just think she looks cute when she’s embarrassed,” Jeonghan said, eyes twinkling.
Luna smacked his arm. Hard.
Seungcheol finally decided to step in, rubbing his temple as he sighed despite the smirk on his face. “Alright, alright, let’s calm down—”
“OH NO, WE’RE JUST GETTING STARTED,” Seungkwan interrupted, rubbing his hands together like an actual villain. “Alright, guys, be honest. Who knew? Who had a feeling?”
“Me,” Minghao deadpanned. “I had a feeling.”
“It was obvious,” Joshua added with a smirk.
Jun raised his hand lazily. “I had a gut feeling.”
Hoshi gawked. “SO EVERYONE BUT ME?!”
“Hyung, you said you knew earlier,” Dino pointed out. “I didn’t know though.”
“THAT WAS FOR DRAMATIC EFFECT.”
“Honestly,” Woozi finally spoke, looking far too amused for someone who had just been subjected to this madness, “it was kind of inevitable.”
“Oh?” Jeonghan raised a brow.
Woozi shrugged. “I mean, we all saw it coming. Even during trainee days, you two were glued to each other. It was like… written in the stars or some sappy shit.”
Luna groaned. “Not you too.”
Woozi smirked. “I just call it like I see it.”
At this point some of the members mainly BSS we’re giggling, squealing, and pointing at Jeonghan and Luna while the rest were smiling, enjoying the show.
And at this point, Luna was just accepting her fate.
She was the only girl in SEVENTEEN. That meant all of them were going to have a field day with this. And there was no escaping it.
“Alright, alright, I think we’ve embarrassed her enough,” Seungcheol finally said, though the amusement was clear in his voice. “We should probably get back to practice.”
“Fine,” Hoshi groaned, disappointed.
“I love you, Cheollie.” Luna gave him a smile as he winked back at her in return.
“BUT THIS ISN’T OVER,” Seungkwan declared. “YOU TWO WILL BE INTERROGATED LATER.”
“Can’t wait,” Jeonghan said dryly.
As the members finally— finally— began gathering themselves to resume practice, Luna let out a heavy breath, rubbing her temples. Jeonghan turned to look at her, his gaze softening just slightly.
“You okay, Nana-ya?” he murmured.
She sighed, then glanced up at him. Despite everything— the absolute hell she had just been put through— she found herself smiling.
“Yeah,” she said quietly. “I’m okay, Han.”
Jeonghan smiled back.
And just like that, they knew…
Everything was going to be just fine.

Let's Go Home
Day 8 of @bucktommyfluffebruary | surprise | 2,950 words | fluff and humor | ao3
Its finally done. Yay! Promising myself the next one won't be a long one 🙃
The scent of garlic and basil filled the kitchen as Buck stirred the simmering pasta sauce and glanced at the clock for what felt like the hundredth time. He was starting to worry.
Tommy was supposed to have been home 40 mins ago. He knows LA traffic was terrible but usually, he’d at least get a text if he was running late. But his phone had been suspiciously silent this whole time.
Buck huffed, flipping the burner off and stepping back. Okay, no. He needed to check on Tommy.
Just as he reached for his phone, the screen lit up. Tommy’s name and smiling photo filled the display. Relief flooded him, but it was quickly followed by worry as he picked up immediately.
“Babe, where are you?” Buck asked, his frown deepening.
A beat of silence. Then: “What do you mean, where am I? Where are you?”
Buck blinked. “Uh…at the house. Where you live?”
Another pause. And then a heavy sigh. “Fuck.”
“Fuck?” Buck echoed, his concern shifting to confusion.
“I—I forgot we were staying at the house tonight,” Tommy admitted, voice tinged with guilt. “I went to the loft.”
Buck stared at the ceiling, dumbfounded. “You forgot?”
“It’s been a long shift,” Tommy said, clearly frustrated with himself. “My brain is in a fog, and I just—automatically came here.”
Buck exhaled sharply, dragging a hand down his face. “Tommy. That’s what the calendar’s for.”
“I didn’t look at it,” Tommy muttered. “I swore we were staying at the loft tonight. Thought we talked about it.”
Buck sighed, but softened. “Baby, that was like two shifts ago. But it’s fine, I’ll just pack up dinner and head there.”
“What? No . Sweetheart, I’m already in my truck. I’m coming home”
Buck clenched his jaw, pressing his lips together before finally sighing. “Alright. Just…be careful.”
“I will,” Tommy said, his voice quieter now. “And—I’m sorry.”
“Not your fault,” Buck reassured him, gentle now that he knew Tommy was safe. “It happens. Just get here in one piece, okay?”
“Okay. Love you.”
“Love you too,” Buck murmured before hanging up.
He exhaled hard, shaking his head. He wasn't mad. Just amused. A little exasperated. But still, something about this whole mix-up made his chest feel tight.
It was a reminder.
Of something they hadn't talked about in a while.
Buck had promised to go at Tommy’s pace, and he meant it. He did. But sometimes, like tonight—he just… wanted .
But the last time they’d had this conversation, it hadn’t ended well.
Buck inhaled deeply, shoving the thought into a far-off, dusty corner of his mind. Right now, he had dinner to finish. And a man to welcome home.
—————————————————————
Tommy exhaled slowly, tapping his fingers against the steering wheel as he drove. His mind was still stuck on the mix-up.
He felt bad, even though he knew he hadn’t forgotten on purpose. Still, in a way, it meant they'd lost time together. Time he didn't want to waste.
And, there was something about this entire situation that kept biting at the edges of Tommy’s thoughts.
Evan had been waiting for him.
Cooking for him.
Evan had been waiting at home.
Tommy tightened his grip on the wheel.
That was it, wasn't it?
For months now, the thought had lingered in the back of his mind. How much he wanted to come home to Evan—not just on the nights they decided to stay at the house. Not just in moments they planned in advance. He wanted it every day. Every night. He wanted the certainty of knowing that at the end of their shifts, of every long and exhausting day, they'd be coming home to each other.
His chest tightened. Because for so long, that word— home —had never really belonged to him. Not in a way that mattered. But Evan? Evan had changed that.
Tommy swallowed hard. So why was he dragging his feet?
It wasn’t fear. Not anymore. Not like before.
He’d already lost Evan once because he hadn’t been ready. Because he let doubt and fear hold him back. But he was ready now.
Except…Evan didn’t know that.
And if there was one thing Tommy knew for sure, it was that words weren’t enough. He needed to show him.
His grip on the steering wheel loosened as the idea started forming, small and tentative at first, then quickly sparking into something bigger.
Evan was usually the one who went for grand gestures. But this time? This time, Tommy wanted to be the one.
Evan deserved to be wooed and wowed, to have something big and meaningful done for him. Tommy wanted to give him that. To give them that.
A slow smile tugged at his lips as he pulled into the driveway. He reached for his phone, already composing a quick text.
Time to get to work.
—————————————————————
It had been a couple of days since the mix-up, and Tommy was acting weird.
Buck noticed it immediately.
At first, it was little things—Tommy being unusually glued to his phone, giving vague answers when Buck casually asked what he was up to, staying in his garage for long periods of time. It wasn't enough to raise alarms, but enough to nag at him.
And then the schedule thing happened.
They were having breakfast, Buck still finishing up while Tommy took his empty plate to the sink.
“So, since we’re both off this weekend, I was thinking we could go watch this new exhibit that just opened—”
Tommy hesitated.
“I might have to handle some stuff,” Tommy replied, a little too casually.
Buck froze, fork pausing mid-air. Okay…
“What kind of stuff?”
“Just…stuff.” Tommy leaned down, pressing a quick kiss to the top of Buck’s head before heading to the bedroom to get dressed.
Okay . Suspicious .
Under normal circumstances, Buck might have let it go. ( Not Really ). But Tommy had already been acting differently—distracted, distant in a way Buck couldn't quite put his finger on. And now, he was being all shifty about the weekend.
Yeah. Nope. Buck’s brain didn’t like that.
His thoughts spiraled fast, latching onto the worst-case scenario before he could stop them.
What if he realized he’s not ready for this— for us —anymore?
The thought hit him too fast to contain it. Too hard. And from there it just got worse.
Shit, have I been too much lately? Maybe he wants space.
Maybe he’s trying to figure out how to tell me.
And suddenly, everything made sense. The distraction. The vague responses. The distance. The hesitation.
Buck pushed his plate back, appetite gone.
He wasn’t just going to sit here and wait for the other shoe to drop. If something was happening, he needed to know .
He wasn’t getting blindsided again.
—————————————————————
Buck was not snooping.
Snooping was invasive. Wrong . He was just… investigating. Like a concerned boyfriend, who was definitely not snooping in Tommy’s garage, after he'd left for his shift.
Buck had a couple of minutes before he had to leave for his own shift so he was determined to check things out quickly, hopefully get some peace of mind and figure out what was going on with Tommy.
He looked around the garage wondering what Tommy had been up to the past couple of days. There wasn't a car on the lift, so he hadn't been working on one. His eyes scanned the space before coming to rest on a stack of papers.
"If he’s planning something, there’ll be clues there."
Buck shuffled through them, scanning receipts, random notes, and—wait. What was this ?
His eyes landed on a handwritten list:
Confirm rental: Starlight’s Cinema Double-check timing for Saturday night Send final slideshow edits, practice speech about memories
Slideshow? Memories ?
Buck’s stomach dropped . It wasn't their anniversary or anywhere close to a holiday.
And a slideshow…with memories ? Reflection ? Was Tommy trying to soften the blow?
"Oh my God."
His chest clenched .
"He’s breaking up with me."
He didn’t even realize he had moved until he was already out the door, and rushing to the station.
—————————————————————
Buck paced the station's kitchen, arms crossed, eyes flicking toward the oven as the smell of warm chocolate wafted through the air. The chocolate chip cookies (Tommy’s favorite) were almost done, but he was too restless to wait.
“Okay, let me get this straight,” Chimney said, voice flat. “You snooped in Tommy’s garage—”
“I investigated !”
“—and then found one list and decided that meant he was definitely breaking up with you?” Chimney finished, disbelief dripping from every word.
“When you say it like that, it sounds crazy,” Buck winced, biting his lips as he turned to look at the cookies through the oven's tiny window.
“That’s because it is crazy." Eddie called lazily from the couch, not even looking up from his phone.
Buck turned, gesturing wildly. “Eddie, he’s acting weird. He forgot we were staying at the house that one night, and now he’s being all secretive, and—”
“Or,” Eddie cut in, finally glancing up, “maybe he’s planning something good and you just went straight to disaster mode?”
Buck faltered. “But—did he say something to you?" He asked, hopeful.
Eddie raised an eyebrow. “No.”
Buck slumped, disappointed.
“Whoa. What if it’s a proposal?" Chim interjected suddenly, eyes lighting up.
Buck choked. “What—no.”
Chimney snorted. “You sound horrified.”
“I just—that’s not what this is!” Buck spluttered.
“Well, neither is it a breakup, probably ,” Eddie countered, tone maddeningly calm. “Did you ask him what’s going on?”
“…No…I mean not like directly.”
Eddie and Chim exchanged a look.
“Right,” Eddie deadpanned. “Because why communicate when you can snoop through his stuff instead?”
Buck groaned, rubbing his hands over his face. “Fine. I’ll talk to him.”
“Good.”
A pause.
“…After I see where he goes tomorrow.”
“BUCK!”
The entire station yelled at him.
—————————————————————
 Tommy had been nervous for the past few days, but mostly, he was excited. Excited for the future, for Evan’s reaction to the surprise, for the moment he finally got to show him what he'd been working on, for the hopeful response.
Still, a small part of him was nervous—apprehensive. Not about the decision, he was sure of that. But about this —showing Evan this side of himself.
The romantic, over the top, cheesy side.
They had promised to be honest though. To be themselves, fully.
And he was sure Evan would never laugh at him, not over this.
Okay, Tommy was definitely ready to show Evan his surprise. He’d hated being evasive and vague all week. He knew Evan had been worried about his behavior, could see it in the little ways Evan had been watching him more closely, the overly casual questions. But once he saw it, once he understood , it would hopefully have been worth it.
…Of course, he really should've kept in mind who his boyfriend was.
“Hey, uh…you know that guy?” John, his friend and the theatre manager, asked casually, nodding toward the street.
Tommy turned, eyebrows furrowing—only to catch the figure of his boyfriend quickly dashing into an alley to avoid being seen.
Tommy sighed, long-suffering and deeply exasperated.
“That would be my Evan,” he muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose.
John snorted. “Well, looks like the surprise isn't gonna be much of a surprise.”
Tommy shook his head. “I should have figured something like this would happen.”
“Your boyfriend not good with surprises or something?”
“Something like that,” Tommy said dryly.
John checked his watch. “Well, I can give you about twenty minutes before the next showing starts. Think that's enough time?”
Tommy exhaled slowly, passing over the usb drive. “I'll make it work. Thanks.”
“Screen 2,” John confirmed as he walked inside.
Tommy took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself
Then, with an air of long suffering resignation (and maybe just a little bit of fondness), he made his way toward the alley.
Time to retrieve his ridiculous boyfriend.
—————————————————————
“Shit, Shit, Shit.”
Buck whirled around, searching for an escape route, but the alley was a dead end. His heart pounded.
Maybe he didn't see me , he thought, clinging to hope.
Then—footsteps.
He straightened up, wiping his palms on his jeans and trying to think. Think of something, anything to say before—
“Evan?”
Buck flinched.
Slowly, he turned to find Tommy standing at the alley entrance, arms crossed, wearing the kind of expression that said r eally?
“T—Tommy, hey.” Bucs voice cracked. He forced a smile. “What a coincidence.”
Tommy raised an unimpressed eyebrow. Then hummed. “Mmm. Is it?”
Buck deflated. “Okay, fine. Sorry, I just—” He hesitated, biting his lip. Then, before he could stop himself—
“Are you breaking up with me?”
Tommy’s expression instantly morphed into one of pure, baffled horror. “What?”
Buck swallowed hard, his voice smaller this time. “Are you…breaking up with me?”
Tommys face softened in an instant. “Sweetheart, no .”
He closed the distance between them, pulling Buck into a firm hug. Buck exhaled shakily, melting into him.
“Is that what you've been thinking?” Tommy asked, voice low and gentle.
Buck nodded against his shoulder, gripping the back of Tommy’s jacket.
Tommy sighed, pulling back just enough to cradle Buck’s face in his hands, thumbs stroking his cheekbones. “Evan, baby , no. That’s not it at all. I had a surprise for you. A good one. Or well…I hope it’s good.”
Buck blinked, surprised to find Tommy looking nervous now.
Buck instinctively covered Tommy’s hands with his own, squeezing gently.
Tommy stopped talking and looked at him.
“...Come with me? He asked softly.
Buck briefly hesitated, the weight of his earlier fears still lingering in his chest. But curiosity was quickly overtaking it.
Tommy smiled, lacing their fingers together.
—————————————————————
Buck followed Tommy inside, taking in the space.
The small cinema was charming, with warm lighting and a cozy feel. It smelled faintly of buttered popcorn.
They entered one of the screening rooms. It was completely empty—the massive screen already lit up with a paused presentation.
It had pictures of them on the slide.
Tommy? Buck asked, confused.
Tommy exhaled, stepping forward. “So…the other night, with the house mix-up, I keep thinking. And I realized something.” He gulped.
He sent a quick signal to the projector booth.
The slideshow started.
Buck’s breath cough as their life together so far, unfolded before him.
Photos of them laughing. Cooking. Tangled together in bed on lazy Sunday mornings. Little candid moments—Evan’s concentrated frown when he worked on crossword puzzles, Tommy’s soft smile when he thought no one was looking.
Interspersed were quotes—some dryly teasing, some sentimental.
“Evan, I could watch you drool into my pillow for the rest of my life.”
Then:
“Turns out, home isn't a place at all.”
Buck’s heart clenched. His throat tightened.
His hand blindly reached for Tommy’s.
Tommy squeezed back, firm and steady.
Then the final slide appeared.
A picture Buck knew instantly.
The sun was setting, golden light spilling over everything, the house looking warm and inviting and the two of them, standing right in front of it.
Buck, Chim and Eddie had been helping Tommy fix something on the roof that day. Buck had scrambled a quick dinner for them and he had just called them in for it.
And, Tommy had run straight to him, kissing him like he hadn't seen Buck in days.
Eddie had snapped the picture at that exact moment.
Buck remembered laughing into the kiss, the warmth of Tommy’s hands framing his face, the distant sound of Chim yelling, “Get a room!”
The slide faded into darkness.
Buck turned to Tommy, eyes shining, tears slipping down his face.
Tommy inhaled sharply. “Oh, love .” He reached out, cupping Buck’s face, wiping the tears with his thumbs.
“I’m okay,” Buck promised, voice wobbly. “I just—no one’s ever done something like this for me.” His breath hitched. “No one’s ever shown me…”
He trailed off, trying to hold himself together, to breathe through the overwhelming emotion in his chest.
Tommy’s gaze softened, and he smiled, pressing their foreheads together. “Evan. Baby . You don't have to thank me. You deserve this. And so much more.”
Tommy took a deep breath, hand slipping to Buck’s neck.
“...Move in with me.”
Buck’s breath caught.
His heart stopped.
“...Wh—what?” he whispered.
Tommy smiled, warm and so sure. “You said it once—why be apart when we could be together? I wasn't ready then. But I am now.” His fingers traced lightly over Buck’s jaw, grounding him. “That slideshow? Every single one of those pictures, those memories—that's me telling you how happy I am. Every second I’m with you. And when I'm not?” His voice dropped, quiet but so certain. “I'm still thinking of you.”
Buck broke.
A small, broken noise escaped him, and he was nodding before he could even find the words.
“Yes,” he whispered, voice hoarse. Then stronger—Brighter. “Yes.”
Tommy’s lips parted, like he hadn't fully expected the answer, like it still surprised him.
Buck laughed at the thought. God, what a pair we make.
And then, before Tommy could respond, Buck surged forward, crashing their mouths together in a kiss that was all yes .
Tommy made a surprised noise but melted into it instantly, strong arms wrapping tight around Buck’s waist, holding him there,
When they finally pulled apart, slightly breathless, they just stared at each other.
Grinning.
Giddy.
In Love.
Then Tommy snorted, shaking his head. “We definitely have to talk about the stalking thing, though.”
Buck laughed, light and free. “Yeah, okay. Fair enough.”
He leaned into Tommy’s warmth.
“But first”
He reached for Tommy’s hand, lacing their fingers together.
“Let’s go home”

some time since I talked about twst lore but here’s my take:
silver wont ob, but he isn’t leaving unscathed from this
I have seen a lot of people talking about the possibility of silver overblotting but here’s the thing
for ob to occur you need both: using more magic than you should AND accumulated negative emotions
Idia explains this (dont remember if it’s in chapter 6 or 7) put ob only happens when the mage have been accumulating these negative emotions for a long time, and we have seen this is the books: every single ob boy had a very traumatic upbringing
silver doesnt have that
silver is a good person that even the animals in the forest take care of him, he has had a dedicated father a loving brother liege and a best friend/rival for all his life
silver was never alone, he didn’t have absurd expectations put onto him, he wasn’t a servant, he wasn’t bullied, he didn’t had his whole life decided at birth… silver had a pretty good life, normal even
so he doesn’t fit the criteria necessary for a ob, but it’s pretty obvious by now that the boy is not okay
and this is probably a major turning point in the story
I think we were so focused on Lilia that we forgot that the last straw for malleus ob was actually silver
malleus was lost and he didn’t knew what to do, when he saw silver crying he finally lost it and realized what he could do to solve this problem
I think we tend to forget that malleus raised this boy, he brought him food from the palace he sang him to sleep he watch over his training… malleus was there for the entirety of silver’s life
i dare to say that malleus has a soft spot for sebek and silver (Halloween 2024 I’m looking at you) and this is precisely what is going to get him out of his ob: he won’t be able to hurt them
and I’m pretty sure that “silver not being able to wake up” theory will come true in some way
mama shroud said that malleus spell is so fuckin complex that literally only him can indo it, even maleficia wouldn’t be able to, this hints that malleus really won’t be defeated by being overpowered, but by being convinced to undo the magic
and what is more convincing than having the boy you raised, the son of your father, collapsing right in front of you… because of you?
so in the end, the lost (prince)ss that was sleeping in a castle full of thorns is awaken by true love, and the evil dragon is defeated by a silver sword craved onto his heart
malleus being the one to break silvers curse of being constantly sleepy and silver being the reason malleus is freed from the ob monster…
well thats what happens when you learn to love humans I guess lol

You sighed as you watched your coworker fail once again. The man he was trying to talk to didn’t care at all and walked right past him. You just sighed, rolled your eyes, and crossed your arms, leaning against the metro wall near the stairs.
The recruiter began walking in your direction with his chin held high, a proud—or perhaps wounded—expression on his face, and you laughed at his frustration.
“What happened, Mr. ‘I-can-do-everything’?” you teased. He simply walked past you, heading up the station stairs.
“Shut up,” he muttered, and you chuckled, following behind.
“Did you manage to do anything at all?” he asked as soon as he noticed you catching up on the stairs.
“While you wasted time talking to one man, I got four. All of them on the verge of bankruptcy—desperation was almost funny, I nearly felt bad for them.” You stuffed your hands into the pockets of your beige trench coat. “With their financial struggles and my pretty face, did you really think they wouldn’t accept?” You smirked, stopping in front of him and framing your face with your hands as if showing off.
He simply walked past you, bumping your shoulder.
“You’re so full of yourself, seriously… What’s even fun about your game? No one actually likes Gonggi that much,” he scoffed.
You just shrugged. “That’s what I was told to do. And your job isn’t that exciting either, right? At least mine is getting results. Yours, on the other hand…” You glanced up at the sky as you stepped out of the train station—it was already nighttime.
“Can you shut up for a single minute? I already have to deal with you all the time. For the love of—just stop talking, girl,” he snapped.
You simply looked at him, already used to his sudden outbursts.
“Oh, baby, don’t be sad. Tomorrow will be your day, and you’ll manage to recruit some people. Besides, aren’t you the boss’s impeccable, invaluable favorite recruiter?” You pouted playfully, stopping in front of him again, this time by your car. You cupped his face in your hands, only for him to push them away and roll his eyes.
“I’m not arguing with a brat… Why don’t you just go back to your family?” he said, setting his black suitcase down and rubbing his chin. “Oh, right. I forgot. You don’t have anyone because no one can stand you. Your parents abandoned you, and your fiancé cheated on you…”
He spoke slowly, and when his gaze met yours, he noticed a brief flicker of vulnerability—but you quickly masked it with a smile.
He almost felt bad for you. Almost. But he didn’t regret saying it, and he would do it again if necessary.
“Whatever. Family is just a burden. I don’t need anyone, and I can live just fine on my own. Besides, maybe you should be worried, huh? The boss would never have sent me to you if he didn’t think you needed help. Maybe he realized just how useless you are.” You winked and got into your car.
As you started the engine and rolled down the window, the man remained standing there, lost in his thoughts, trapped by your words.
“Hey, baby, don’t walk around alone at night. This area is dangerous,” you teased before driving off.
He simply clenched his jaw, a growing resentment bubbling inside him.
He saw you as a threat. You would never take his place.
( . . . )
When you arrived at your apartment, you tossed your keys onto the table and hung your coat in the closet. You placed your shoes inside as well before closing the door.
With a sigh, you headed straight to the bathroom, undressed, and stepped into the hot shower—you really needed this. The water cascaded down your body, relaxing you, and a tired sigh escaped your lips.
Your mother and father would never have been proud of the person you became, but that was their fault. They were the ones who raised you the “right” way. Any mistake was met with punishment.
You became cold, sarcastic, and quiet around others. But no one ever really knew you. No one saw the pain, the fear, or the scars you carried from a disturbing childhood.
You had a slight fear of showing emotions or affection to anyone. There was only one person you had ever felt comfortable with, but even they betrayed you. So now, you truly had no one.
That day in the alley changed your life—but you still wondered if it was for better or worse. Everything felt strange. You felt strange.
Some days, your emotions felt numb. Other days, you just wanted to break down and cry with someone. But everyone you had trusted either betrayed you or left you traumatized. You would never trust anyone again.
Snapping out of your thoughts, you turned off the shower and wrapped yourself in a towel, drying your hair with another. You went to your room, grabbed some pajamas from your closet, and got dressed. After brushing and drying your hair, you applied some perfume and walked into the kitchen to make some tea.
One of the perks of living alone and having no friends was that you could use the guest room however you wanted—so you turned it into a library.
Once your tea was ready, you grabbed a book and headed to the balcony of your penthouse. The cold air brushed against your skin, but somehow, it didn’t bother you.

Note
*The raccoon-kits climb Tanjiro trying not to accidentally scratch him and sniff him curiously and some decide to lounge on his shoulders while one of the smaller ones has found his was onto the top of his head and sniff his scar curiously before nuzzling it. Rui nods giving a quiet sniffle, like the mask was starting to crack* "I even tried to tell the other groups who came after to go away myself but...by the time Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke and apparently Zenitsu showed up I was so mad that I had given up on trying to tell them to go away...we didn't want to fight them, not really anyway...But yes she knows i'm safe, she was just delayed a day due to getting a bit lost trying to avoid the groups of slayers..." *He explained though he sounded a bit teary, what about though was hard to tell by his voice alone. It was mostly guilt and regret but there was a bit of self-disappointment and little bit of bitterness to the slayers that decided to attack first. Rui curled into the embrace a bit more and was half tempted to shrink himself down and either hide or allow himself to be held*
(Yeah sorry i forgot to mention at that time, my brain was a couple cells short when you initially asked ^_^; but yeah sometimes if someone wants to interact with both blogs in the same rp it does happen but not very often, surprise?)
continued from: here
"I should hope so...They actually inspired me to try to be better..." *Perhaps an excited student presenting their latest project to their teachers might be more accurate of a comparison? He points to the sword-loss-preventative attachment before explaining it* "With this one, one end will attach to either the guard or handle of the sword, whichever one works best and the other end will attach to the slayer uniforms belt-loops. It will also be stretchy enough to stretch the users entire arm-span without the snap-back effect hindering the effectiveness of the users swing" *He pauses for a moment and looks at the two with a slightly confused expression* "I really don't mean to...just spiders are so effective at what they do and webbing has so many uses...and I do not really know how else to help...As for talking about using these with your master, the other hashira and the weaker slayers; that would probably be for the best...considering these could very well be essentials once muzan makes his next move..."
(holy mother of the gods, the queens and holy freaking shit tumblr is driving me up one side of the crazy tree and down the other)
She smiles softly. She couldn’t wait to bring Tanjiro and Nezuko over to see him. She knew it’d make all of their day just to see each other. She holds her sister close as she watches his little presentation with excitement. “Hm….it might make more sense to see it in action I’m a little confused on how this might work sorry.” She wanted to understand him so bad because he seemed so happy but it was still a little confusing. She sighs. “Yea it’s just that I don’t want to overwork all of you since I know you’re still so small and your spiders are too. The hashira are pretty strong so we won’t need it as much as the younger slayers but I’ll still discuss it with them.”
Shinobu agrees with her. “Yea it’s better for them to try it out first just incase something doesn’t work right. Also they definitely need any help than can get based off how terribly the training is going.”

Tumblr media
THE RAIN WAS POURING HEAVILY, so was your tears. it had been a day like all others, tiring, draining, and clearly pained you the most. the clouds were grey, the noisy sound of raindrops concealing your pathetic sniffles.
why must your day simply be terrible out of all days? it was your special day— your birthday, it was suppose to be happy, nostalgic, but clearly something jinxed you for it to be the exact opposite.
your `friends' forgot to greet you a happy birthday, maybe even forgot your whole birthday. you got detention for being late becuase your bike tire got flat on the way to school, so you had to walk.
then some junior bumped into you, making you spill the milk on your uniform, the disgusting sticky liquid seeping through your clothes.
normally, these would simply annoy you, but not enough to ruin your day, but they all just had to happen at the same day, especially the day you were most looking forward to all year. how unlucky.
now you just found yourself crying over frustration on how bad things went. it won't undo what happened, it won't rewind time, but maybe it'll simply ease the little flare in your chest.
there was a small playground inside your village. the heavy rain caused children to stay inside their houses, bored. you were wet with sticky milk anyway, so the rain didn't cause you harm. you sat on the wet swing, little by little pushing yourself. the anger from earlier slowly subsiding, but it's still there.
to your surprises, another, probably also-got-a-bad-day person sat on the other swing. he was also just sitting in the rain with no umbrella. you wondered why he's here, but you came to a conclusion he most likely had a day like yours, if not worse.
“bad day?” he broke the silence. his voice was raspy, tired even. “could've definitely been better.” you sighed, letting your feet dig into sand to stop you from swinging.
he scoffed. “same. i lost at my game and my mom scolded at me saying it was a bad idea to start baseball in the first place— that I should've just focused on my studies. I tried to tell her that being a baseball player was my dream since I was a kid but-” he paused, his voice fading, as if he was weak and wanted to cry. “—she just doesn't get it.. what about you?” he questioned, he hoped you understood, even if you were just someone who he coincidentally met at this time.
“I, it's my birthday, and my friends didn't greet me, no one did. my bike's tire got flat, I'm drenched in milk, and I got my first ever detention. it sounds shallow I know-” he cut you off, shaking his head.
“it's not. I promise,” he paused for a few moments. his gaze lingered on yours, “happy birthday,”
you smiled. for the first time today.
“and go for your dream, I don't know you.. but, I know you deserve to be in the league of baseball. I hope I get to see you in TV someday,” you grinned, there was a spark in his eyes you didn't see when he sat down.
“maybe my day's not half bad.” he smiled as he stood up, “mine too.” you retorted.
you both got up and exchanged smiles, each going in their own ways, you looked back at him, seeing his figure slowly dissappear, you smiled on the way back home. the thoughts of today's earlier dismays were long gone. you had hoped to somehow see him again, and what you didn't know was, he did too.

Part 17 Lucys-hdg-story
I wake up in a cocoon of vines. I feel safe and relaxed and decide to fall asleep again.
****************************
"Time to wake up little one."
"Njjjooo more cuddles", I mumble.
"Alrigth you can cuddle a bit more"
I didn't expect is her to just stand up wiith me inside her. That'll do I guess. We move put I can't see anything from inside her.
"Good morning my little Ellie, sleept well?"
"Good moring Mistress. It was alright, but Lucy wasn't there to cuddle"
I feel a pang of guilt and pull on a vine to tell Misstre Miss Duralis to let me go. The cocoon opens and I am lifted out.
"I'm sorry I - don't know what to say. I... I ehm sorry for leaving you.", I embrace Ellie in a tight hug.
"That's relly cute of you thanks, but you definitely needed the core cuddles. But you do seem surprisingly lucid."
"After a while I moved some leaves between her and my core, otherwise I don't think she would be thinking right now"
"Your core? sorry I didn't mean to go up your privates. I thought is was a big stem or something like that."
"Oh my little kitten, you and Ellie both have a very special place inside me. That includes my core"
"I .. ehm", don't know how to process that," Soooooooo breakfast? Cereal please", I distract. An eeep escapes my mouth as we are picked up on deposited at the table. Cereal is placed in front of me and I just stare at it.
"Can't eat yourself anymore? Do I need to feed you?"
"No- no need to, I was just lost in thought."
I take a spoon full and then begin to stare at it again. Not really at it more like into the nothingness behind it.
*tap* yeah cereal is good
*tap* I chew, wait - oh. I blush again and look at them dumbfumbled.
"I can-" *tap* *tap* "-feed myself"
"Well you were struggling so I'm helping you"
*tap* *tap*
"I was just-" *tap* *tap* "-lost in thought!"
"Sure cutie♡"
"Could you-" *tap* *tap* "-stop?"
"Well petal"
*tap* *tap*
"We're finished anyways", Misstr Miss Duralis smirks,"Your are a natural at receiving commands. Makes me think you want this"
"No! Why should want this. This is humiliating. I can feed myself. I can-" *prick*
"-meow mreow. miauw meow mauw. meowe mrrp mreeoowwwww", I cross my arms and - get petted. I turn away from them and still get petted.
"Is my kitty angyy, awwww", Ellie kisses me.
"skeeecchhhh", I hiss at her. Water is sprayed in my face.
"Bad kitten, we dont attack florets"
"meowwwww", I shake the water of my face and hop of the table. Well I hop of and then get gently lowered to the floor.
"What did I tell you kitten"
"Meow miau", I pout.
Ellie can barley contain her laughing. I walk over to the compiler and hope it can understand catspeak.
"mrrp meow mreau, meoww?"
"Coming up kitten", the hab chirps. Atleast the hab can still understand me.
I grab the cardboard box and lift it over me before I settle down underneath it and sulk. Great they're aawwwing me again. Even worse Ellie is full on laughing at me.
After I while my box is lifted with me inside it, flipped over and closed, tumbling me around. I get carried away.
I poke out to see where I am and spot a plushy. I lift the box grab it and hide again.
"awwww"
"so absolutely adorable, hab please tag this recording"
"Recording tagged, Miss Duralis"
"Thank you"
"grrrrrrrowoworrrr"
"Even cuter"
My pad is slid into my box and I happily accept the distraction it provides. Until Ellie texts me.
Elnolongerlonely: Hey I hope you come out soon. I'm really sorry. I miss you.
Cuddlekitten: Heyi, maybe dunno. Maybe never.
Elnolongerlonely: I won't survive that.
Cuddlekitten: Im sure miss Duralis won't let you die. Also why are our usernames different.
Elnolongerlonely: I think mistress changed them. Can I atleast join you in the box.
Cuddlekitten: fine if you have to
Elnolongerlonely: Yayyyyy, I'll be there in a sec.
The box shuffles a bit an Ellie joins me.
"Hi cutie", she giggles
"miau meow"
"Oh, oops forgot about that. You dont need it to cuddle anyway"
"moewe"
"You'll be fine", and she cuddles me. It actually helps me calm dawn and I feel my self doze of.
-Yes Lucy sleeps alot, that's her way of processing things. Also it's an easy way to start and end a chapter. Call me lazy.

Title: Lost Time
Tumblr media
You didn’t mean to forget.
It was just that life had been moving at a relentless pace—school drop-offs, doctor’s appointments, laundry piles that never seemed to shrink, and the constant whirlwind of raising kids. By the time you had a moment to sit down and breathe, the day was already slipping away, and there was always something else to do.
And then, the realization hit you like a gut punch.
You were supposed to be on a plane.
Your stomach dropped as you stared at the time on your phone. Your flight to LA had taken off an hour ago. The trip to visit Marshall for the weekend—just the two of you—was something you had both been looking forward to for weeks. It was rare, getting time alone together, and now you had completely missed it.
Your hands shook as you picked up your phone, heart pounding as you scrolled to his name and hit call. It rang twice before he picked up.
“Hey, baby.” His voice was warm, but you could hear the exhaustion behind it. “You landed okay?”
You swallowed hard, pressing your fingers against your forehead. “Marshall…”
Something in your tone must have told him everything he needed to know, because there was a pause.
“…What happened?”
You squeezed your eyes shut. “I—I forgot,” you admitted, voice thick with guilt. “I missed my flight.”
Another silence stretched between you. The disappointment was palpable, even through the phone.
“Shit,” he muttered under his breath, and it made your stomach twist even more.
“I’m so sorry,” you whispered. “I don’t even have a good excuse. I just—everything’s been so crazy with the kids and running around, and I lost track of time. I didn’t even realize until just now.”
Marshall let out a slow exhale, and you could picture him rubbing his hand down his face the way he always did when he was frustrated but trying to keep his cool. “Damn, baby,” he finally said, voice softer now. “I was looking forward to seeing you.”
“I know,” you said quickly. “I know, I was too.”
You could hear the hurt in his voice, and it broke you. Marshall never asked for much—he understood how busy life got, how much the kids needed you, but this was supposed to be your time. And now you had let him down.
There was a long pause before he spoke again. “You could try and get another flight tomorrow,” he suggested, but you already knew it wasn’t that simple.
“Marshall… I don’t think I can. The kids—”
“I know,” he cut in, but there was no anger in his tone, just understanding. And maybe that made it even worse.
You closed your eyes, willing the lump in your throat to disappear. “I feel awful.”
“I know you do,” he said, quieter this time. “But I get it, babe. You got a million things on your plate.”
You wiped at your face, hating that you were tearing up. “I just—I don’t want you to think I don’t care. Or that I don’t want to be there.”
“Never,” he said immediately, and you could hear the sincerity in his voice. “You do everything for us, for the kids. I know you love me. I know you wanted to come.”
You let out a shaky breath. “I really did.”
Marshall was quiet for a beat. Then, he sighed. “I miss you, though.”
The admission made your chest ache. “I miss you too,” you whispered.
There was another pause, then his voice turned a little softer, a little playful. “You know what this means, right?”
“What?”
“You owe me.”
Despite the guilt still hanging over you, you couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. “Oh, do I?”
“Hell yeah,” he said, and you could hear the smirk in his voice. “Big time. I want a whole weekend when I get back. No interruptions, no running around—just me and you.”
You exhaled, already nodding. “Deal.”
“Good.”
For a moment, neither of you spoke, just sitting in the quiet together. Even from miles away, he still had a way of making you feel grounded.
“I’ll call you later?” you asked.
“Yeah,” he said. “Get some rest, baby. You work too damn hard.”
You smiled, even if he couldn’t see it. “I love you.”
“Love you too.”
As the call ended, you sat there for a moment, still kicking yourself for forgetting. But if there was one thing you knew about Marshall, it was that he’d always understand. And you’d make it up to him—one way or another.
---
The guilt still sat heavy in your chest, even after Marshall reassured you he understood. Missing your flight wasn’t just about forgetting a plan—it was about forgetting him, even if just for a moment. And you never wanted him to feel like an afterthought.
So, you were going to fix it.
The kids were finally asleep, the house was quiet, and after staring at your phone for a few minutes, you decided you weren’t just going to wait until he got back. You could still make the weekend about him.
You called him.
It rang twice before he picked up, his voice groggy. “Babe?”
“Hey,” you whispered, biting your lip. “Did I wake you?”
“Nah,” he exhaled, and you could hear him shifting. “I was just laying here. What’s up?”
You hesitated for half a second before deciding to just go for it. “I wanted to make it up to you.”
Marshall chuckled, low and rough. “Oh yeah? How you gonna do that from a thousand miles away?”
You grinned, settling back against your pillows. “I have a few ideas.”
Silence. Then—“Shit.” His voice was lower now, already catching on. “You tryna kill me, woman?”
“Maybe,” you teased, running your fingers lightly over your bare skin. “You said I owe you. Figured I should start paying up.”
Marshall groaned, and the sound sent a shiver down your spine. “You got my full attention, baby.”
~~~
The next morning, you woke up to a text from him.
Marshall: Damn. Now I really can’t wait to get home.
You smirked, typing back.
You: Told you I’d make it up to you.
A second later, another text popped up.
Marshall: Oh, you’re not off the hook yet. I’m making you pay up in person.
You bit your lip, already feeling the heat rise in your cheeks.
You: I’m counting on it.
---
The second you saw the flight tracker update, confirming Marshall was on his way home, you sprang into action.
It wasn’t that you didn’t love having the kids around—you did. But after missing your weekend together, you owed him something uninterrupted. No little voices calling for you, no last-minute homework emergencies, no laundry, no distractions. Just you and him.
So, you started making arrangements.
By early Friday evening, the house was quiet. Your daughters were off at their friends’ houses, giggling about sleepovers and promising to text if they needed anything. You stood at the door after drop-offs, staring into the empty house, nerves buzzing in anticipation.
This was actually happening.
It had been so long since you and Marshall had a weekend to yourselves. Between parenting, his career, and the never-ending responsibilities of life, time together had been sacrificed more than either of you liked. But now, for the next two days, he was yours.
And you were not going to waste it.
You sent him a text as you walked through the quiet house, already thinking about what to wear, what to do, how to make this weekend one he wouldn’t forget.
You: House is empty. Just me waiting on you.
A moment later, your phone buzzed.
Marshall: That’s the best thing I’ve heard all day. Plane just landed. Be home soon.
You smiled, your heart hammering in your chest.
Time to welcome him home properly.
~~~
You were practically pacing by the time you heard the front door open.
Marshall barely had a second to step inside before you were on him, arms wrapping around his neck, pressing yourself against him. His duffel bag hit the floor with a thud as his arms instantly circled your waist, holding you close.
“Damn,” he murmured, burying his face against your neck. “Missed you too, huh?”
You laughed softly, tilting your head so he could press his lips against your skin. “So much.”
His hands tightened around you, like he didn’t want to let go. “Thought about you all weekend,” he admitted. “Then you go and tell me the house is empty? You tryna kill me, baby?”
You smirked, pulling back just enough to look at him. “You said I owe you, right?”
His blue eyes darkened, hands sliding lower on your waist. “Damn right you do.”
You bit your lip, grabbing his hoodie and tugging him toward the bedroom.
“Then let me start paying up.”
---
The second the bedroom door shut, Marshall wasted no time. His hands were on you before you could even take another step, pulling you flush against him, his body heat searing through his hoodie and jeans.
“You really sent the kids away for the whole weekend?” he murmured, his breath warm against your jaw as he pressed lazy kisses along your skin.
You hummed, sliding your hands under his hoodie, fingertips tracing over his stomach. “Mmhmm. No distractions. No interruptions. Just you and me.”
Marshall let out a low groan, gripping your hips. “You tryna make me fall even more in love with you or what?”
You grinned, tilting your head to give him better access to your neck. “Maybe.”
He exhaled sharply, then suddenly, his hands were on your thighs, lifting you effortlessly as you gasped, wrapping your legs around his waist. He carried you to the bed, dropping you down onto the mattress before climbing over you, caging you in.
“You don’t know how bad I needed this,” he admitted, his voice rough, his eyes locked on yours. “Needed you.”
Your fingers tangled in the front of his hoodie, pulling him down until your lips brushed against his. “Then take what you need.”
And he did.
~~~
Hours later, you lay tangled together in the sheets, your head resting against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. His fingers traced lazy circles along your back, his touch light, comforting.
“I should’ve just flown home early,” he murmured, his lips brushing against your temple. “Screw LA. This is where I wanna be.”
You smiled sleepily, pressing a kiss against his skin. “Well, you’re here now.”
He sighed, squeezing you closer. “Yeah, and I’m not going anywhere.”
You shifted, propping yourself up on one elbow so you could look at him. “Promise?”
He cupped your cheek, his thumb grazing over your skin as his eyes softened. “Swear on everything.”
Your heart swelled, and you leaned in, pressing your lips against his in a slow, lingering kiss.
For the first time in weeks, there were no schedules to keep, no places to be. Just you and him, making up for lost time.
---
The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room. You stirred slightly, shifting against the warmth wrapped around you, only to feel Marshall tighten his grip. His arms were locked around your waist, his face buried in your hair, his breaths slow and steady against your skin.
"Mm-mm," he murmured, voice thick with sleep. "Not movin' yet."
You smiled, stretching slightly before settling back against him. "Not even to eat?"
Marshall let out a groggy sigh, but instead of answering, he kissed the top of your shoulder, his lips lazy and warm. "M’too comfortable," he admitted. "Stay a little longer."
You turned in his arms, brushing his messy hair back from his face. He looked softer like this—sleepy, relaxed, the weight of the world momentarily lifted.
"You wanna take a bath?" you offered, running your fingers lightly over his jaw. "Then I’ll let you go back to being a human blanket."
His eyes cracked open just enough to look at you, a smirk playing on his lips. "Yeah, alright," he muttered. "Long as I don’t gotta do any work."
You rolled your eyes playfully. "Just sit there and be pretty, babe."
He chuckled, stretching before finally releasing you from his grip, letting you drag him out of bed.
~~~
The hot water soothed your sore muscles, but the real comfort was the way Marshall held you. He sat behind you in the oversized tub, his arms wrapped around your middle, his chin resting on your shoulder. His fingers traced light patterns along your stomach as the steam curled around both of you.
"Could stay like this forever," he murmured, pressing a slow kiss to the side of your neck.
You smiled, tilting your head back slightly against his chest. "We kinda have to eat at some point."
Marshall huffed, but reached for his phone resting on the edge of the tub. "Fine. What do you want?"
"Surprise me."
"You say that now, but if I order somethin’ weird, you’re gonna give me that look," he teased.
You turned your head to glance at him. "What look?"
"The ‘Marshall, what the hell is this?’ look," he mimicked in a higher-pitched voice, making you laugh.
"Just order, dork," you said, nudging him.
He smirked, placing the order before setting his phone aside. "Done. Now stop distracting me, I’m tryna relax."
You rolled your eyes, but secretly, you loved how soft he was being. He wasn’t always like this—he had his tough exterior, his walls, the weight of his career always hanging over him. But with you, in moments like this, he let himself just be.
And you cherished every second of it.
~~~
By lunchtime, the food had long since been eaten, and you were curled up together in bed, mindlessly watching something on TV. But as you looked over at Marshall, you could tell his mind was elsewhere. His brows were drawn slightly, his jaw tense, fingers absently tapping against his stomach.
You reached over, running your hand along his arm. "What’s on your mind?"
He exhaled sharply, his fingers stilling. "I dunno," he muttered. "Just… been thinkin’."
"About what?"
His eyes flickered toward you before he sighed. "Does it make me a bad dad that I needed this? Like, two weeks away from the kids, and instead of gettin’ home and spendin’ time with them right away, I just—" He gestured vaguely between you two. "I just wanted this. You."
You frowned, sitting up slightly. "Marshall—"
"Nah, I mean, I love them more than anything, you know that," he said quickly. "Just… what kinda dad dips out for two weeks, then sends them away for the weekend soon as he gets back?"
You reached for his hand, squeezing it gently. "The kind of dad who also needs to take care of his relationship," you said softly. "The kind of dad who gives everything to his kids, but also deserves time for himself. And with me."
Marshall exhaled, rubbing a hand down his face. "I just don’t ever want them to feel like I’m not there enough."
"You are there," you assured him. "And they adore you. But you can’t pour from an empty cup, babe. We needed this time, too. You needed it."
He let out a slow breath, nodding slightly. "Yeah. Yeah, you’re right."
You smiled, leaning in to kiss him softly. "You’re an amazing dad, Marshall. The girls know it, I know it. And this weekend doesn’t change that."
He gave a small, grateful smile, tugging you closer. "Love you," he murmured against your hair.
"Love you too," you whispered.
And as he held you tighter, you could feel the tension finally start to melt away.
---
The weekend had been everything you and Marshall needed—slow, intimate, and uninterrupted. But as Sunday afternoon rolled around, reality crept back in.
You were curled up on the couch together, your head resting on his chest while he mindlessly ran his fingers through your hair. The TV was on, but neither of you were really paying attention.
Marshall sighed, his grip tightening around you. “Guess we should probably get the kids soon, huh?”
You hummed, tracing light circles on his stomach. “Probably.”
Neither of you moved.
Marshall let out a low chuckle. “We’re terrible.”
You grinned, tilting your head up to look at him. “Or maybe we just really needed this.”
His blue eyes softened as he brushed a thumb over your cheek. “Yeah… we did.”
You leaned into his touch, savoring the last few moments of quiet before everything picked up again. “But we should go before they start thinking we abandoned them.”
Marshall sighed dramatically, shifting under you. “Fine. But only ‘cause I don’t want them tellin’ their friends their dad ditched ‘em for their mom.”
You laughed, pushing yourself up. “C’mon, let’s go get our babies.”
~~~
The drive was filled with comfortable conversation, Marshall tapping along to the beat of a song playing low on the radio.
“You think they missed us?” he asked as he pulled into the driveway of your oldest’s friend’s house.
You smirked. “I think they missed you more. You’re the fun parent.”
He scoffed, throwing the car in park. “Nah, they just like me ‘cause I let ‘em stay up too late.”
You laughed, unbuckling your seatbelt. “Exactly.”
The front door swung open before either of you could get out, and your daughter came sprinting toward the car.
“DADDY!”
Marshall barely had time to react before she jumped into his arms, wrapping herself around him.
“Damn, girl,” he grunted, catching her with ease. “You act like I was gone for a year.”
She giggled, squeezing his neck. “Two weeks is a long time!”
You watched as his entire face softened, his arms holding her tight against him. That doubt he had earlier about needing time with you? Gone. Because no matter what, your girls knew he loved them.
And as your other daughter came running from the house, yelling “Daddy!” just as loud, you knew there was no place he’d rather be.
---
The house was filled with warmth, laughter, and the soft hum of a movie playing in the background. The four of you were curled up on the couch under a pile of blankets, limbs tangled together as you soaked in the simple joy of being close.
Marshall sat in the middle, your youngest daughter curled up against his chest, her tiny fingers clutching onto his hoodie like she was afraid he might disappear again. Your oldest was tucked under his other arm, her head resting against his side. And you? You were right next to him, your legs draped over his as he absentmindedly traced circles on your thigh with his fingertips.
“This is the best night ever,” your youngest mumbled sleepily, nuzzling further into her dad’s chest.
Marshall smiled, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “Yeah, baby?”
She nodded against him. “Mhm. I like when we’re all together like this.”
You glanced at him, and the way his eyes softened made your heart clench. He had spent so much time worrying about being away, about taking time for himself and for you. But right now, in this moment, it was obvious—he was exactly where he needed to be.
“Me too, baby,” he murmured, holding her a little closer.
Your oldest yawned, shifting to get more comfortable against him. “Can we do this every night?”
Marshall let out a soft chuckle. “If it means I get to cuddle with my girls? Hell yeah.”
You smiled, resting your head against his shoulder. “Guess that means we’re never leaving this couch.”
He turned his head to press a slow, lingering kiss to your forehead, his lips lingering there for a beat longer than necessary. “Sounds perfect to me.”
The movie played on, but none of you were really watching anymore. The girls slowly started drifting off, their soft breaths mixing with the low hum of the TV.
Marshall exhaled, his arm tightening around you. “This,” he murmured, voice low, like he didn’t want to wake them. “This is all I ever need.”
You looked up at him, your heart full. “Me too.”
And as you sat there, wrapped in the warmth of your little family, you knew—there was nowhere else in the world you’d rather be.

Definitely some interesting additions, and something I did contend with when I was writing these. Discussions under the cut with a Content Warning for discussions of Ableism & Disability Curism:
You raise a good point about the inherent ableism present (especially with Pirrha canonically being blind and being forced to cure himself of his own disability in order to be considered of any value), and I do think many deaf Eliksni were either pressured into getting prosthesis/augmentation or... worse. That's a common part of sci-fi/fantasy stories like this, unfortunately, and you see it reflected in conversations about disabled characters in sci-fi/fantasy stories all the time: The age-old debate of "why is my fantasy character in a wheelchair when magic exists?" and etc. etc.
I started thinking about this whole thing because I'm really interested in disability accommodations within these settings (as I'm disabled myself) rather than taking the approach of curism due to its rather... problematic nature. In my story, I wanted to more deeply explore disability within the Destiny universe as it's something woefully ignored for the most-part in canon. I think it's a missed opportunity when one of Destiny's core themes is about persistence and resilience against even the most dire of odds. I promise this isn't intended to be me shilling for my fic, I'm just talking about my thought processes! ^.^''
The interpretation I ended up going with for Sign (which I unfortunately forgot to include in my post x_x) was that some Conversational Sign persisted through the knowledge of a few select individuals who continued to pass it on and down despite most likely being pressured to augment their hearing. Military Sign, on the other hand, is a much more robust system due to the turn to a heavily militaristic culture, with information on it more readily available.
However, as information sources dwindled, Conversational Sign diverged into strong dialects as users filled in gaps in knowledge with their own contributions, which then persisted into any individuals they ended up passing their knowledge on to. Going back to my fic in particular, Kiraks learned Military Sign and then kinda made it up as she went due to a lack of a tutor when it came to creating a system of Conversational Sign. Her system of Sign is something she made up with her sister as a way to reclaim some independence after she lost her ability to speak.
The nature of the dissemination of sign knowledge meant that highly specific (and possibly even 'incorrect' sign) dialects became the norm, simply as sources about a more centralised and consistent language dwindled both to the brutal nature of the Drift and forced augmentation essentially drastically reducing the population that actively spoke Conversational Sign; Any chance of a centralised language realistically died off with the perishing of all but one of the Judgement Scribes. Variks would likely be the best source for possibly learning something akin to true Riisian sign (especially as I personally headcanon he has permanent vocal damage after Phylaks choked him in The Once-Shipstealer, and thus he sometimes uses non-verbal communication), but even his knowledge would likely be something not wholly applicable due to the high levels of variance now present in the speakers that remain.
A bit of a tangent, but I wonder if the actual usability of conversational sign would be affected by whether Eliksni Hatchlings take to augmentation from youth or not, as I imagine one of the main use-cases for conversational sign post-Drift would most realistically be giving Hatchlings a way to communicate until they're at an age that they can take to augments without danger to their life. I personally don't know if there are any sources that mention the augmentation of Hatchlings in the lore so I can't really make a call. If anybody does, please feel free to add them to this convo, I'd love to learn more!
I'm sorry to have dumped a mini-essay on you in this reblog, I just have a lot of thoughts about this topic ;-; Thanks for reading if you made it this far.
Eliksni Sign Language
Soooo in writing the next Chapter for The Light Provides, I've decided to write up some notes about the Eliksni Sign Language I have Kiraks speaking within the story. She's not deaf but is completely mute save for some chitters, and this lead me down a route of theorising about the different forms that Eliksni Sign Language can take. This isn't everything and I'm still building on the idea, but just putting what I have down. Ramblings below the cut:
Disclaimer: I don't speak sign language irl but I've taken somewhat of an interest in it due to living with someone who is partially deaf. This is just me spitballing about a system implemented in the world of my fic, building mostly on the idea of how a four-armed species with different ideas of social communication may develop a system of non-verbal communication. Please let me know if there is anything offensive and I'll remove it. It's never my intent to hurt anybody.
Basic/Background Notes:
Sign language not a standardised/centralised language due to the Long Drift and the splintering of Eliksni culture.
Dialects vary massively between Houses, especially as there is little to no remaining documentation about the language and only a few speak it.
Eliksni wishing to learn the language often must seek out a tutor who already knows it to get more than a very basic grasp on signing, leading to the perpetuation of House-specific dialects.
Glyphic alphabet remains mostly consistent between House Dialects, but syntax may differ.
High degrees of variation with subdialects of House-specific sign language developing to suit the wider range of body types present post-Whirlwind.
Cultural variations of sign language poses issues with unification attempts e.g. House Salvation, House Light & House Dusk.
TL;DR Sign language is tricky and complex with many different slightly different variations due to the Long Drift, making it difficult to learn and not applicable cross-Houses.
Denoting Tone:
A major degree of dialect variation comes from the favouring of facial expressions versus body language to denote tone.
Piggybacking a bit off of Eliksni expressions headcanons, but positioning of mandibular hairs as well as mandibles and nictitating membranes used to convey tone in dialects that favour facial features.
This form is more overtly favoured by mute Eliksni, whether that be due to developmental issues, psychological factors or physical conditions & damage to their voices.
Some utilise natural subvocalisations too, but this is rare, especially amongst Deaf speakers.
Some deaf speakers of this form may learn to understand patterns of vibrations associated with subvocalisations and learn to mimic them, if they did not know them prior e.g. Hatched profoundly deaf or suffered hearing damage in very early youth.
In this case, their vocalisations may sound 'off' to other Eliksni, a bit like a speech impediment.
Dialects that favour body language utilises things such as scent markers in conjunction with the position of the lower arms to denote tone.
Mandible snaps or clicks in communication are instead denoted through a claw tapping motion produced by pinching the claws together (Think like tapping the thumb to the middle and index finger). Claws simulate clicking sound.
Lower arms make tonal indications whilst upper arms are used for signing actual words or phrases. This developed due to the lower set of arms being naturally less strong and precise than the upper arms, making them less suited to prolonged sessions of extremely quick signing when in conversation.
Naturally, this form of sign does not accommodate for Eliksni who have been docked, but one-handed versions of this dialect have been developed by some docked speakers.
Nouns and names:
Common nouns and proper nouns have their own special designated signs
Regular names are instead either spelled out of their individual letters or, in some dialects, compressed down into their constitute syllables.
Syllables are often comprised of shortened individual letter signs, following common sounds like the way there are specific glyphs in the Eliksni written alphabet for sounds like "kk", "rr", "im".
Other Notes:
Using both sets of arms to sign primary language is viewed almost akin to shouting.

Okay so this is almost a direct copy-paste of my earlier reblog but only the Xin Yuan parts, because its long enough to be its own post and i want to share it! It deserves it's own post <3 typical starry stuff to write a 2k word long reblog, unfortunately.
I say almost because I went through to proof read and ended up adding more stuff.
I've been cooking on this idea for the last two days since I saw the Xin Mo!Shen Yuan post but??? I can't find anything on Xin Mo's backstory or how it came to be -- which means that's free fucking plot right there baby. That's a sandbox and im making LIFE SIZED CASTLES. I'm so excited.
The idea of Shen Yuan transmigrating centuries before the events of PIDW as Xin Mo -- but when he wakes up, he's not the sword. He wakes up in the body of a young boy named Xin Yuan. Now it makes sense for this boy to be a demon, but the drama, the intrigue, the spice of Xin Yuan being a human child.
SY wakes up as a boy below the age of ten, and the System tells him where he is, and SY is excited to meet his favorite protagonist -- only to gradually realize that he's like, a thousand years or so before the events of the novel. The rant he gives the system is legendary.
Bc what's the point of getting dropped into PIDW if he's never going to meet his favorite character??? This is a scam! BUT he settles into his new life, he's like, some orphan street rat or some other tragic airplane-esq backstory.
The system gives Shen Yuan his first mandatory quest: become a righteous cultivator. Which was like, kinda his plan/hopes anyways, except! There's like?? No official cultivator sects anywhere? The Cang Qiong Mountain Sect hasn't even been established yet, and there are pockets of cultivators running around, maybe some groups or schools popping up and then sinking back down, but nothing's really taken root!
If he asks someone how to become a cultivator, there's no straight answer. No "oh you can go to X to do that". He's pissed! How can he become a cultivator if there aren't any schools around to teach him? Deus ex machina, that's how.
Out of sheer luck, SY manages to help save a rogue cultivator, and promptly gets adopted by said rogue cultivator, who gives SY the name 'Xin Yuan'. He is ecstatic. And you know what? It's actually pretty fun!
He's getting to travel the world of PIDW in its early stages, and gets to see the building blocks for the eventual main story. He's discovering all this local flora and fauna that are foreign to his old world and unmentioned in the book, and he's learning cultivation! Granted, its unsafe, newly(ish) discovered cultivation, but it counts!
Wistfully, he thinks about perhaps he'll do something grand and get his name carved into legend. Something that would eventually help the protagonist later down the line in his quest for revenge.
The system remains silent to his thoughts.
But Xin Yuan doesn't take much stock in that daydream anyways. It's nothing more than fantasy to him; wish-fulfillment. He does discover however, that he is positively brimming with spiritual energy. Overwhelmingly so.
It's both a blessing and a curse, as it puts a strain on his meridians if he's not careful, and leaves him prone to qi deviations for the exact same reasons. He already has a heart demon or two from a few traumatic experiences in the past.
(bc hey! angst a day keeps the writer sadism at bay, and all that)
I'll say he's about... eight when he gets picked up by the rogue cultivator, who I'm calling Lin Kai bc he deserves a name. They travel around PIDW up until Xin Yuan is twelve, where he goes through a traumatic experience that results in a heart demon.
It's after that that Lin Kai decides to put a stop to his wandering, and find a place to settle down to raise Xin Yuan in. Coincidentally! They settle down in a nice mountain region that's thriving with spiritual energy. The mountains at the time were called something different, but they will be eventually known as the Cang Qiong Mountain Sect
Coincidentally, the mountain Lin Kai and Xin Yuan end up on is Qing Jing Peak. XY does not realize that the mountain he's on is Qing Jing. The System does not tell him. But he likes it there, more than he was expecting. And as much as he's traveled around, he really does enjoy being in one place.
He has a tendency to go down the mountain and help the village setting up down there, and when he's a teenager he starts venturing out more and more.
Xin Yuan forgets sometimes that he's in a novel, especially after settling down on Qing Jing peak. The system becomes remarkably quiet since there's no quests for him to do and not a ton of opportunities to get B-Points. He cultivates with Lin Kai, helps tend to the garden they're growing, goes down to the village to play with the other kids.
There's one boy he's best friends with, a boy whose not all that good with words, named Liu Zhihao. He's got potential for cultivation though, so Xin Yuan drags him up the mountain when he can so that Liu Zhihao can sit in on lessons with Lin Kai. He drags him all over the forest at the foot of the mountain to go look at bugs and animals.
(One time, when they're fourteen and Liu Zhihao has been learning cultivation for a few years now, Xin Yuan drags him out of bed late one night to go look at the stars. Xin Yuan tells Liu Zhihao about ascension -- something that still feels like a far off dream to many in this time -- that night, while they're sitting on the wet grass.)
("We should ascend together." Xin Yuan tells Liu Zhihao, jade eyes gleaming. Never let it be said that Xin Yuan doesn't love deeply, no matter what kind of love it is. He was always so lonely as Shen Yuan, Liu Zhihao is his best friend. "We'll become immortals, and then we won't ascend until the other is able to.")
(Liu Zhihao stares at him silently, his face unreadable. Then, quietly, he asks; "Promise?")
("Promise.")
When he starts adventuring outwards, further away from the mountain and the village, Liu Zhihao sticks to him like rice. Not that Xin Yuan's complaining, that's his best friend after all, and Liu Zhihao has become a formidable cultivator. He deserves to show off his skills.
He starts making something of a name for himself by the time he's, like, 18 -- although that name is in its baby steps, along with Liu Zhihao. They're slowly growing renown.
Perhaps XY uses his knowledge of PIDW and cultivation in general to help make advancements in the cultivation field. Although the system prevents him from sharing too much, it doesn't mean he can't practice it himself. Perhaps he's one of the first cultivators to develop a golden core. One of the first known immortal cultivators. One of the first to have a spirit sword.
(Although I don't know the logistics of any of this since my knowledge on xanxia/cultivation stuff in general is all still pretty new and google wasn't all that helpful lol.)
Either way, its my excuse to eventually make Xin Yuan come across as ethereal to other people. Peerless beauty SY for the win. Hs wifebeam is too strong, Xin Yuan has a line of suitors following after him and he's completely unaware of it. The rest of history is not.
Demon realm stuff has been stirring up since Xin Yuan was a kid, but at the time it was rare and in the beginning stages. Its been steadily ramping up and the system is sending him on more and more treacherous quests -- some of them mandatory, some optional. SY doesn't often take the optional ones unless it comes with a sufficient B-point reward.
for all intents and purposes though, he's a wandering rogue cultivator with Liu Zhihao, going from place to place to either help a town or village, or to discover more creatures or artifacts (although there aren't that many). Just all around living his life. He participates in a few major quest lines that are sure to get him mentioned in legend, even if it's a background character way.
(Unbeknownst to him, rather than being a side character in these legends, he's named directly. You can't become one of the first immortal cultivators and NOT get name dropped for clout.)
He has a spirit sword named Shā Mó, (杀 shā - to kill/weaken/counteract/reduce) (魔 mó - evil spirit, demon, possession). He routinely goes back to QJP to see Lin Kai, or to rest when traveling has worn down on him and he wants nothing more than to sleep somewhere he knows he'll be safe in. It becomes more frequent as Xin Yuan becomes more famous. Liu Zhihao often comes with him.
it all comes to a head though when the rifts between the demonic realm and the human realm become too great, and the balance between both realms becomes unstable. A demonic emperor's influence, wanting to merge the two realms so he could conquer both to satiate his own greed.
Typical evil king stuff. This comes to a climatic head in a great battle between every cultivator available and the demon emperor's army. Xin Yuan was one of the many who helped lead the charge.
In the end, it was Xin Yuan who ends up defeating the demonic emperor, but the rift that the emperor used to cross between worlds is destabilizing as well. Except instead of trying to close, it's getting bigger and bigger, threatening to swallow the heavens and earth and demonic realm whole.
You know how Yue Qingyuan's soul is bonded to his sword due to a qi deviation? Let's take it a step further >:)
Xin Yuan uses himself and Shā Mó to close the rift. However, it takes all of his spiritual energy to do so, as well as him filtering the demonic qi into his body to redirect it back to the demon realm.
In the end, Xin Yuan and his beloved sword Shā Mó fuse. Xin Yuan's soul becomes trapped in the sword. His physical body is unable to handle the immense amount of power it takes to close the rift, and is destroyed. He is immortalized in legend by his grieving cultivators.
(Liu Zhihao ends up ascending alone. He ascends with the hope that one day he'll see Xin Yuan again, even if it's in the face of someone else. Lin Kai does not ascend, too weighed down by the grief of losing his son.)
Xin Yuan, now Xin Mo, falls into a stasis. He's very confused and disorientated when he regains 'consciousness'. The system has been silent for most of his life, only popping up to give him mandatory quests, hints, points, or to answer any questions.
But once he wakes up, it cheerfully pops up again, congratulating him on completing the origin story of Xin Mo. SY freaks the fuck out. he'd shake the system screen if he could, but he doesn't have arms. or legs. or eyes for that matter.
He can sense his surroundings, but its all like imprints to him. He can sense the energies, but he can't see anything. It's all very disorientating and horrifying after years of being human. Like a sensory deprivation chamber.
The closing of the rift and the cycling demonic qi tainted both Sha Mo and Xin Yuan irreparably, and it did some kind of damage that resulted in SY needing to feed in order to use the spiritual powers. Kinda like how Xuan Su uses YQY's life force for it's spiritual energy, but instead of feeding on his own lifeforce, Xin Mo feeds on others.
The rest is history. Xin Mo is originally tied to the story of Xin Yuan -- believed to be all that remained of the man after he sacrificed himself to keep the realms separate. It's believed that the force of the realms closing permanently infused Sha Mo with demonic energy, turning it into Xin Mo.
But, like many stories do when faced against the tide of time, things get lost; chipped off; changed. Xin Mo is steadily separated from Xin Yuan, especially once it becomes clear how parasitic the sword really is, until they are all but separate entities themselves and the origin of Xin Mo's creation all but forgotten.
The years blur together when Xin Mo is not being wielded, and at first Xin Yuan was agonized by the fact that he stole the lives of all his wielders. He knows it's only a novel, but his decades spent in this life have softened him, and he's grown attached to the world around him.
But time erodes the mind like water erodes stone, and he becomes numb to it, then eventually anticipating of it. He forces himself to remember what he knows of PIDW's plot, and kinda fixates back on his old obsession on Luo Binghe. But while PIDW stays in his mind, his memories as Xin Yuan fall to the wayside.
Not forgotten, per se, but... tucked away. The system prevents him from forgetting fully.
Xin Mo isn't fully a demonic sword either i think, but instead harbors an ugly cocktail of both spiritual and demonic qi. Special circumstances and all that. Everyone just assumes he's a fully demonic sword because that's usually at the forefront, his spiritual qi weakened from the initial fusion and from years of not being fed spiritual qi. It's part of the reason his wielders always end up destroyed by him, other than the whole, yk, 'overwhelming qi' thing.
Nobody would recognize Xin Mo's human form as Xin Yuan other than some truly ancient demons. Of which Meng Mo might. But even that's iffy because there's a lack of surviving paintings of Xin Yuan, but also because of XM's demonic appearance and supposed lack of connection to XY.
Xin Mo has never spoken to his wielders before, not in the same way he does Luo Binghe. He tells Luo Binghe this, and he also tells Luo Binghe down the line that he is both spiritual and demonic -- something he also never told his wielders because there was no point to it.
okay okay i've got to end it here because its already gotten ridiculously long -- of which im both apologetic and unapologetic for -- but i DO think the Shang Qinghua and Shen Yuan meeting (and reveal) would be fucking hilarious. Especially if SY has learned how to pop between sword form and human form by then -- although i guess it doesnt matter either way because SQH's reaction is still the same.
And that reaction is internally screaming and going "hey what the FUCK?? WHY DOES XIN MO HAVE A HUMAN FORM??? WHAT IS THIS??? SYSTEM??? EXPLAIN???"
meanwhile from his place on the sword hilt xin mo is squinting at Shang Qinghua in bewilderment and going "aren't you supposed to be dead" but doesn't pay too much mind to it because its not like its going to change anything.
...up until he catches shang qinghua going "WTF" silently from his little corner while all eyes are off him. One moment SQH is standing beside his king, and the next he's been tackled to the ground by one wild-eyed, human-shaped Xin Mo.
everyone, including SQH, thinks Xin Mo is going to kill him. It is a surprise to everyone when he does not, and instead dissolves into deranged, uncontrollable laughter after spitting out some phrase in some ancient tongue and watching SQH's eyes grow wide in recognition.

Do you have anything you've been thinking on but just haven't made a post about it yet? Also I'm really enjoying your fic!
I have a few things but it's likely mostly headcanons that I consider somewhat disconnected from my analysis.
Curly's parents had him old, only child, died shortly after he graduated and got the pony express position. It was the last big thing they saw him do which is a reason he stayed for so long.
Doesn't admit how much their death affected him
Jimmy has a largish family. One of the cases of too many kids to keep tract of, parent never really noticed any of them nor their behaviors
Anya lived in a lot of houses growing up, regular supportive family that just struggled to support themselves.
Became a nurse largely to avoid their financial struggles but mostly because she felt too many people weren't being cared for and advocated for in the world properly
Swansea likes high top sneakers most. Likes how snug they fit and how they shield his ankles at work
Curly has a bit of a caffeine problem since he can’t sleep. Can occasionally be found wandering the ship at “night” when he had some too late or just couldn’t sleep.
Daisuke knows a little about a lot of things. Starts conversations with “did you know” a lot but please don’t ask him deeper questions
Curly has known Jimmy longer but has worked with Anya and Swansea longer, met them during his middle years, met Jimmy shortly before college.
Swansea rents a house, Daisuke’s family lives in a big nice apartment, Curly has a condo, Anya live in a small one bedroom apartment and Jimmy has a studio.
Curly's home is very disconcerting. It's too normal to a like uncanny degree.
Anya is ambidextrous but prefers her left.
Anya and Curly are both not native English speakers so occasionally they forget words and bond over the mutual mocking they get from the rest of the crew. Daisuke knows some Japanese but is still learning, never picked it up as a kid
Only Swansea and Daisuke know how to drive, Earth in my mind is very post capitalist so only older people and like the extremely wealthy can afford cars.
It's also like walkable just due to how many businesses are in your face. Probably strict living vs shopping districts
I have more but the way that I headcanon about them is like too long.
#im still trying to figure out voiceclaims like I think Curly is the most generic lost his accent his accent like swedish or eastern european#guy cause he was raised by old immigrants and anya never had a thick accent but she talks with the cadence of one shes like slavic and east#asian to me. Swansea at most is like irish or italian but just an old white guy and Jimmy just has a bit of olivish skin like hes just whit#i think people should make them all weirder too like I think Anya loves showing the fucked up diagrams and pictures from premed and everyon#has to nod and act super supportive and not horrified cause Anya thats a guy with his leg broken in seven places it is not facinating to th#rest of the crew but she loves it cause fyi to go to med school you have to pass pre-med she has a BA if not a BS in nursing or bio atleast#Swansea randomly talks about shoe politics and its like hes talking about regular politics. Curly doesn't sleep walk but he pauses at weird#times or places and will just stand leave and not tell anyone anything cause even he forgot#Jimmy is himself ig and Daisuke always has some media drama they are too old for to get invested in and teach them about youth slang Anya#kinda gets it#also i think people make Curly and Jimmy way too old? Like In my mind Curly is sorta his late 20s- early 30s like he's in the settling#part of his life hence the fear about settling here anya is likel mid 20s to 30 cause she at least finished college we dont have the years#of how long shes been working and maybe Jimmy is just a bit older and feels weird envy about missing that introspection Curly is having.#Daisuke is like 19-22 in my mind like hes an adult but a kid by their standards#like Curly was recruited and its much easier to get younger people plus getting someone young is a good investment like they either got him#right after school and its like all he's known and it scares him#mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#anya mouthwashing#curly mouthwashing#jimmy mouthwashing#swansea mouthwashing#daisuke mouthwashing#ask#anon

Realism is fun till it isn’t and I realize I’ve already committed too far and can’t just scrap it but I know it will take me too long so here are some sacrifices you may see finished later on
#dragon#myart#creature#I still generally have inspiration for the first one so that one will probably get finished first#I really like watching the speedpaints procreate automatically records even though it’s crunchy and has a weird green tint#specifically on realism because it’s wild for anything else and is actually psychotic#Mostly because I just suddenly start experimenting with brushes and start turning layers off and on for a good chunk of it#I use 3 layers usually for realism#One for the actual drawing one for the sketch and one for a base color#It makes it better I think because it’s more similar to actual painting or something#That might not be the reason I dont really know#It’s just better I do it that way#Maybe because I can’t get distracted and lost?#Realism is also a great source of learning for me#Even if i never really finish stuff like this#I might this time though who knows#Sorry for leaving you guys stranded I’m chasing a really big train across the country#My priorities are with locomotives#“You guys” (I say to my very few followers 🤑🤑 (that probably followed me in the first place for dragon adventures stuff))#I do what I want and what I want is not dragon adventures right now#Right now I want locomotive#I’m not hijacking that train it sounds like I’m going to hijack that train#however#i would appreciate owning a big train I feel like I would enjoy that#Side note how do my DA followers feel about the genetic traits in the event eggs making motorouk w/ the error trait worth like 100mil#I feel ill when I can recite all of the full species names from memory#It does make sense though I’ve been playing since the first event in 2019#I’m committed what can I say#Almost forgot a tag oops#art
