it makes me upset that the selfship community on tumblr is dominated by the terms “proship” and “antiship”. as if either word mean anything at all. i find both terms extremely silly and reductive. what exactly “pro” or “antiship” mean varies from person to person, and what exactly is considered “problematic” also varies.
the looseness of the terms upset me, but they also just feel very juvenile. you aren’t morally superior to someone just because you have different opinions or a different taste in fiction than them. you can interact with fiction like an adult. you can realize that not every piece of art, or every persons enjoyment of a piece of art, needs to be moralized.
i have a hard time going in the selfship tag without cringing because almost every post is tainted with “proship dni” or “proship pls interact” or something similar. sometimes the little pro/anti disclaimers take up even more space on the post that the actual text and it makes me giggle a little

House of the Dragon Season 2 is next week.
Can we please not be fucking vultures when it comes to Blood & Cheese?
Yes, Luke was babu smoll bean and his death is tragic. But there's a difference between "oh shit this dragon I'm psychically bonded to assumed I wanted to kill my nephew rather than scare him" and "Let's hire these two killers to murder a toddler after forcing his mother to choose which of her children to kill".
Something something it's almost like both sides are the fucking worst.

i think "it takes a village" shouldn't be just "to raise a child". we should understand it takes a village to do literally everything we do. all day every day. without our communities we would not have drinking water or electricity or clean streets or food or shelter or anything. we cannot do any thing alone. we just can't. and with that comes the fact that you are not alone. you already have a community, seek to be an active part of it, you will feel better. reach out and thank them, they're happy to have you too. i promise. it takes a village to live.

the curse of adhd:
i will remember with absolute clarity, when the thought strikes me that i have a text to send someone, that this is the fourth time in three days i've attempted to send this specific text
i will forget, in the time it takes me to pick up my phone, that i picked it up intending to send a text

This is a slow fandom zone
None of that "Oh no they bomb-dropped all the episodes in a week 1 month ago, I'm late!" "The tag hasn't been active all week is the fandom dead?" "I only got a hundred shares the first hour no one cares about my art"
Slow down
Take a deep breath and slow down
Fandom is YOU. And me and everyone. If we doodle stick figures for a show that ended 30 years ago we aren't "late" or "doing too little", we're playing dolls in our own time and having fun with works of art that mean a lot to us
You can literally watch and engage with something that aired in 2004 as if it aired yesterday
If the tag hasn't been active for 14 months guess what? If YOU post there, it isn't dead. Literally you can talk about anything you want whenever you want there is no weird law against watching things that people aren't actively talk about
Let's be deranged about stories together
