the 12th house
loosely based on the twelve houses by howard sasportas & liz greene

surrender, the collective, returning to source, unity
the 12h has an ominous reputation, rightfully so. 12h themes are very difficult for most of us to deal with. the 12h is about our yearning for the safety of the womb, to be surrounded by everything and nothing, to be complete and whole. we suffer the trauma of separation to be born and struggle to find that unity for the rest of our lives. our ego and individuality directly conflicts with this emptiness we subconsciously (usually) want to fill.
we want to be connected and return to source. we want to be bigger than ourselves. but we also are very attached to our identity. this internal struggle especially affects 12h placements. love, sex, drugs, prayer, and power are common things used to deal with this urge of being connected or blurring boundaries.
attachment and identity
most of the things we associate with our identity are external. if we lost everything - family, friends, money, housing - we would still be a person. we do not lose our personhood in losing these external factors. so what is our identity then? what is deeper that is not dependent on our outer world? how much of our inner world is also dependent on our perception of our outer world? does our identity change in losing these things, or was that not our identity in the first place? in the moment of losing them what is your identity? how can it change immediately if identity takes time to develop?
the signs through the 12h
aries 12h brings an unpredictable nature when dealing with these themes. these natives may be unaware of where their urgency comes from.
taurus 12h may not be aware of their need for security. they may try many of the strategies mentioned above to figure out what's missing.
gemini 12h has a lot of mental energy that can be hard to organize. they may not even know what to attach to their identity, but don't feel fully connected to source either.
cancer 12h has a lot of emotional energy to work through. probably very nostalgic. may base their identity on others.
leo 12h has their ego very dominant. they may not know that how they react is because of pride and ego. leans to extremes by either sacrificing only the self or only others. likely to seek power/influence
virgo 12h is very sensitive to the hardships of the collective. They want to help and heal others but they may not know how to do so, and this can cause issues with the self.
libra 12h may struggle a lot with the injustices of the world. they struggle to find their place in it all. they want to do the right thing for others but it's hard for them to know how to do right by themselves.
scorpio 12h brings a lot of doubt around the idea of a universal "source". they want to believe in the universe and generally just want to have faith - but life can sometimes beat them down.
sagittarius 12h is no stranger to the pain of the collective, but they don't like to show it. they feel something there but they shift their focus to the self and put surviving first.
capricorn 12h brings a serious attitude to the conflict between source and self. they feel the world's pain and want to work to change it. this may sacrifice their personal attachments.
aquarius 12h understands the importance of being connected to source. however, others may not understand or see them as someone connected, so they may struggle to express their concerns. may be self-sacrificing
pisces 12h is easily influenced by others and may have a changing identity. their ways for coping with being away from source can vary a lot due to impulsivity. this energy is inconsistent and hard to describe

Some Wardrobe/Color Symbolism
are all these observations incredibly obvious and don’t even need to be stated? probably! did the show even care this much? …probably not!
Throughout season 1, Rachel and Quinn are constantly being presented as complete polar opposites of each other. But in Sectionals, after Rachel tells Finn the truth about Quinn and Puck, Rachel goes to talk to Quinn about it. She apologizes and says she understands if Quinn wants to hit her, but Quinn says Rachel just did what she was too scared to do. Despite the difference in everything about them, they’re both dressed in blue (which is a color I think glee tends to use to symbolize unity? Team work? A sense of sameness?) As of this moment, they’re on equal level now. Quinn even states a reason why out loud: “now neither of us have [Finn]”.
However, because Finchel is pushed so heavily throughout season 1, there’s never any doubt in our minds that Finn likes Rachel more lol. (I feel like the will they or won’t they have Finchel in season 1 is pretty weak because the pacing was just soo fast for them.) But, regardless of the Finn connection between them, Quinn and Rachel are the same deep down: just teenage girls. They can be selfish, and catty, but at the end of the day they’re both girls just trying their best. Quinn lied about Finn being the father out of fear and self preservation, even if it was selfish to do. Rachel told Finn about the lie because it was genuinely the right thing to do, but as well out of her own self interests and she herself admits this (“I wanted to break you two up”). It’s not about who’s right or wrong, in my opinion, obviously there’s a difference in weight in both their actions, but we can understand where both were coming from and I think this moment showed a new understanding between them.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4df488aef35ebb295f93402b78076f20/935d86f83a8de59b-db/s540x810/3afe85f460d26ab7135cd47d81776a6914835a61.jpg)
Compared to their duet in Born This Way, where they’re represented by blue and red, and glee has a wholeee blue vs red theme they use often that I’ll get into one day (and usually the use of both is meant to show a character’s mind being at a halfway point between a decision). Even though they’re both feeling insecure, neither really understands the other’s POV yet, especially Rachel towards Quinn because in Rachel’s mind, Quinn is everything she’s not and she doesn’t get that Quinn can be just as insecure as she can. Even the distance between them where they sit in the choir room is greater.
In Mash-Up, Ken takes out his frustration towards Will on the members of the football team who are also in the glee club by scheduling conflicting practice. During this scene where Will goes to talk to him, they’re both wearing light and navy blue. Considering Ken usually wore single color (usually highlight bright) polos, so this I think this was deliberate for this reason:
They’re both teachers who ultimately want to put their students first. Despite the childishness of his actions before this, Ken still realizes how he can’t let his personal issues get in the way of his student’s happiness which is why he ends up moving practice so the football players can still attend glee after this.
And, maybe a lot less purposeful but something I got out of this season:
As for Will, while his clothes are more “professional”, and at this point of the show Emma idolizes him in a way that puts him in a different league from Ken, he’s no stranger to putting his own petty drama above the kids needs come season 2 (Britney/Brittany, Rocky Horror Glee Show) either. As much as Emma despises Ken and wants Will, Will’s going to end up breaking her trust by cheating on her in Hell-o, which will result in her losing her hero worship of him and seeing him as a person instead of an idealized version of him, which puts him back on the same level of Ken as “just some guy” and it’s not until season 2 does Emma start to see Will as an option again.

Do you think if Owl House’s third season were longer instead of being crammed into 3 long episodes, it would’ve been better?
I actually did a blog about this literally the night before the S3 finale and the finale did not prove me wrong!
But I want to emphasize here that a lot of these problems... are due to S2 and S1. S3 is how it is BECAUSE of the writing choices the team made going into it. There were ALWAYS going to be problems with S3 because of how S2A was paced, because of the INSANE decisions made in the face of the shortening in S2B like the Collector. Just the insane amount of mismanaged time. But I like to provide evidence:
No usable villains: S1 had the most amount of threats that could be taken seriously and even they weren't treated the best. The EC were still mostly bumblers who could be taken out by Eda or Hooty with EASE, Lilith is used for comedy far more than threat in S1, even if her role as straight man works to keep some of her menace, Kikimora is barely there and Belos is introduced at the end of the season. All the one off villains are pathetic and usually defeated through brute force in their episodes proving that except by schemes, like Really Small Problems, they're all fucked going against Luz in S2 who now has actual power behind her. So by the end of S1, you have Hunter, Kikimora and Belos. S2A will then go on to make Hunter immediately not a villain, Kikimora a joke by the end of it and ignore Belos entirely until S2B while introducing no new real villains so now they only had BELOS and their time is running out. Also, their only human realm villain is a joke who got beat by Camila, let alone anyone with magic. Speaking of:
Edit: I straight up forgot to mention the coven heads but S2 does technically set them up... and then destroys the coven system, giving them no systemic power, and Luz literally saved all of theirs lives so they have no reason to fight her. Also because the Collector is straight up not a villain in S3, he would not be sending them out to kill people even if that were his style so they don't count as usable villains and neither does the Collector.
Power Scale Issues: In literally the sixth episode, Willow singlehandedly beats the shit out of an entire squad of trained MONSTER HUNTERS without even the element of surprise. She's just that strong. By S2's end, EVERYONE will be at her level. Luz at the START of S2, before glyph combos are introduced, takes down the Selkidamus effectively single handedly. She literally only needed physical strength of pulling the thing in and NO ONE acts like it's a question if she can slay it once she's given a sword. It's really fucking bad. And as they have magic in the human realm, all of these characters are still at that power level for what would have been the first half of the season. This means threats and villains are out of the question. How about character work?
Character Blandness: Willow has no character. She is wishy washy all the way through the series and this is true even in S1 where she is shy for half the episodes and also the most brazen person you know in the other half, sometimes in the same episode. Escaping Expulsion murdered about half of Amity's potential and Reaching Out made sure that there would literally never be a conflict about Lumity and made Amity only a bland love interest with daddy issues and her dad isn't in the human realm so you got nothing on her for the first half. Hunter had to have almost all of his shit dealt with by the end of S2 so he's a certified good guy at their side by the Day of Unity who at least half of the cast have accepted so all you have is backstory angst which they can only do so much of without it being repetitive or boring, especially if you want the BIG reveal to only happen shortly before his possession. Luz has her angst which can't be resolved until post Belos revealing it so you have half a season where NO ONE CAN DO ANYTHING. You theoretically have Camila fluff and Vee angst/fluff potentially but people got pissed at Hop Pop and Sprig getting episodes dedicated to them in the human realm instead of the plot. How would most have reacted to characters who have made barely an appearance stealing half a season from the entire Hexide Squad?
Human Realm is Bad: By the end of S1, the Isles has cellphones, it has televisions, it broadcast news, it will fight for a wrong unjustly done, etc. S2 only doubles down as it introduces robots, child endangerment laws and other things that are just part of the human realm. That's why ALL of the fish out of water jokes in Thanks to Them are utter shit and require characters acting like complete morons because the two worlds are the SAME. And they have almost always been that way. The only difference is that one has electricity, the other has magic. As such, going to the human realm is just not compelling. It doesn't even have thematic reasons to do so except I guess to FINALLY actually show Luz being bullied and they didn't even do that in the specials.
And sure, stuff with the resistance could have been neat in the second half. The first half could have included good fluff like Lumity dates and Gus freaking out about the human realm for an episode. But... It would still be needing to introduce elements. It would still be scrambling for ways to fill the time because S2 killed most of the potential for the characters and was so focused on that goal, even in S2A, that it didn't introduce compelling plot elements for drama or good villains to play into its adventure elements.
Could it have been better? Possibly. But a lot of people felt how much S3's specials were just padding. Just wasted time. Now TRIPLE the length of the season?
Yeah... The shortening was a blessing, not a curse.

hello!! I love yalls twst stuff and I'm rlly excited to see/learn more about these ocs!! would you be able to give maybe a rundown on which characters are in which house and why? or maybe a general explanation on how the houses work in this college :0
Thank you very much for liking our twst stuff and for your interest in these boys! <3 And thank you very much for reading the info post about them! Fighting with tumblr to make it work was exhausting, and it’s still not going to work in the app after all orz I’ll add some of these facts to the info page later, but for this reply I can write much more than what I’m going to say there.
Now to your question. Each of the characters are were made to “represent” their corresponding house, to somewhat be the embodiment of the animal, so they go like this:
Niall is in the Unicorn house;
Ned is in the Dragon house;
Edmund is in the Raven house,
Liam is in the Snake house.
The houses group boys based on their personal qualities, but, ofc, there are no strict rules as which factors will definitely put you in one of the houses.
The Unicorn house is known for its dazzling, charismatic students with a strong tendency for leadership. They are determined, strong-willed, and often arrogant to an extent. They’re good at dealing with social issues, people in general, and can manipulate both people and the information they have as well. Still, despite being natural leaders, they have to have a sense of community and know how to form alliances.
They have good manners, good style, and overall have a high-society aura around them. Members of the royal families usually end up in this house. Because of that, it is considered the most prestigious (and rich lol) of the houses.
The Dragon house is the next in line in terms of being prestigious. Students there are loud, impulsive, have a very big “presence” whenever they’re around, while still being surprisingly responsible and well-behaved. They’re good and strategy and tactics, and have the best results in sports out of the bunch because of their good organizing abilities and discipline. They have their own order inside the house and dormitory, so they tend to work on the “survival of the fittest” principle. Just like Unicorn students, they are very proud, so they’re not ready to listen to just everyone, so they sometimes have conflicts inside their house in spite of their strong sense of unity. You have to deserve their respect to be... well, respected. On the negative side, they are quite greedy, loud, as I’ve said, and slow.
The Raven house is both the opposite of the Unicorn house, yet at the same time they’re the ones they cooperate with the most. Students of the Raven house are quiet and just don’t seem all that remarkable. They’re the first to react to different events, but the most “useless” in terms of solving things. The least ambitious of the bunch, they are rather perceptive, know a lot of rumors and information, good at making suggestions and predicting future outcomes, but at the same time secretive and not very talkative with other houses. Nobody really knows what they think, so they’re the creepy ones and the “freaks”, although not in such a harsh manner as one might think. They’re here to just do their job silently, or to complain a lot and still do their job lol If the Unicorn house can be considered the facade of the society, these students are the underground part of it. Metaphorically, that is.
The Snake students are also quiet, but their presence is much more prominent than that of the Raven students. They’re perfect on the surface level, but are ready to take any means necessary to achieve their goals without being caught. They seem perfect from the outside, but students from this house have the strongest sense of individuality. They’re cautious and ready to give way to others just to be safe and sure, they’re not the ones to rush anywhere without thinking. They’re careful, and a little bit slow in order to process events around them accordingly and to take the best possible route.
Phew, I think so far that’s enough lol

Numerology Life Path 6 - Your Birth Card and its Ruling Planet
Numerology Life Path Numbers and their assigned Tarot Card Meaning Series
This is a post in my new astrology/numerology/tarot series, that only concerns you, if you are a Life Path 6. Posts on consecutive Life Path Numbers will follow. Originally, I wanted to do them all in one post, but my writing turned out to be so long, I decided to split the post and seperate the Life Path Numbers. The introduction part of the post will be the same for all Life Path Numbers, in case you only read a post about your own Life Path Number, and nothing else.
Introduction
The concept of a Birth Card links Tarot and Numerology together, in order to deepen our understanding of a vibration of a Life Path Number we are born with. The Birth Card, or rather Birth Cards, are Major Arcana Tarot Cards with assigned numbers, which correlate with Life Path Numbers. Understanding the meaning of tarot cards, mixed with the knowledge of Numerology Vibrations, helps create a more unique vision of your life experience.
A person with any given Life Path Number, having several Major Arcana energies present in their lives, usually struggles with one of the energies more than the other. As a result, life will probably force them to focus on mastering one of these energies. In general, however, any Life Path describes both your biggest downfall and ultimate triumph - just like with an Astrology Chart, the highlighted numbers/astrology houses point to your biggest strengths and weaknesses. For a better understanding of this concept, visit my article “Natal Chart - A map of your issues?”
Remember, that everyone, besides their Life Path Number and Birth Card also has a unique astrology chart. Thus, for some people embracing the higher expression of their energy is easier, for others it’s harder and it takes more time to master, and some energies become easier to deal with than others. Most human beings are somewhere in between, working on their path and having some achievements while struggling with difficulties at the same time.
In the spiritual community, there are differences in opinion on linking Astrological Planets and positions to specific numerology numbers energies. My take is a result of my own personal experience, conversations with other people in my field and research, in order to give you the widest possible spectrum of ideas and increase the understanding of every Life Path Number.
If you are a Master Number 11, 22 or 33, there will be a seperate post on how the Birth Cards apply to you as well.
Even If you have only a basic understanding of Astrology, Tarot or Numerology, this post will still be helpful to you, because it describes the unique vibrational mix that comes from the expression of both these spiritual sciences mixed together. To calculate which Tarot Cards and what Life Path correspond to your birthday, click here.
Life Path 6 - The Lovers and The Devil
Life Path 6 is ruled by the mirroring, balancing energies of Venus. There can be a lot of confusion due to that number being associated with the Devil Tarot Card, having such a scary sounding name, and with Venus and Lovers being mixed into all this at the same time. However, this comes from lack of understanding of the actual nature of Venus as a planet and its dualistic energy.
In life path 6, we cross the barrier between the self and the other. 6 comes after 5, and in 5 we have reached the apex of accumulating what we have within and we went to the final stage of sharing all that we have and all that we are outside. In 6, we take it a step further, as our energetic centers open up to the outside world in new ways due to the continuous exchange that occurred in the 5, as we freely share all our energetic material with others.
This conflict leads to the death of the ego. Venus represents surrendering of our egotism, but it is not an easy process, since we associate our sense of "self" with survival and security. This is the source of The Devil Tarot card ruling this number. The Devil is the unknown, the control that the ego has over us, keeping us prisoner, as per the graphic representation in the traditional Tarot Deck. Thus, in number 6 we experience the scariest illusion-shattering and confrontation through other parties, which exposes our weaknesses and shows how easily we are manipulated by external influences.
There can be no passage to the harmonious, balancing stage in The Lovers before passing the test of surrender in The Devil. That surrender is the only thing, that frees us from his grasp. The Devil controls the material realm and Venus is materialistic in nature as well. Venus relishes in surface-level, materialistic pleasure, and The Devil reminds us how easily we can become a slave to it, if we don't hold the consciousness of the illusory nature of the satisfaction these pleasures give us.
As a Life Path 6, your task is to be able to enjoy the pleasures in your life and relationships, while holding the truth close to your heart. The purpose of all connections in this Universe is true harmony and symbiosis. This Life Path is a testing point, that reveals your true colors and can force you to make some uncomfortable decisions. The Shadow Aspect of this Life Path is being blinded to the bliss of intimate union and staying at a surface level. Venus is also prone to conforming to others' opinions on a shallow level without really listening to them or being deeply invested, for the sake of smoothing the waters. This difficult aspect of Life Path 6 once again leads to The Devil - being controlled through illusions, because of the reciprocal, malleable nature of Venus. However, an experienced Life Path 6 embraces the scary process of setting themselves free from their ego and learns to truly surrender to the other, which is rewarded in the harmony that we experience in The Lovers.
Through the associated Tarot Cards, we learn how to navigate the energies of Life Path 6.
The Devil - The task here is to be in control of material illusions and not let them blind you, as you experience the pleasure. Realise their temporary, superficial nature. You may be reaping some karmic rewards in this incarnation, but you are also being put to the test, and thus you need to preserve the necessary balance. Venus is easily influenced and swayed by others, so the need for rationality is even more pronounced in face of greater temptation. However, you can't truly prove yourself without having a testing experience to use as a measuring stick, so thank this card for being the ultimate tool of spiritual progress for you.
The Lovers - This is the easier aspect of Venus, that we experience as a response to passing the ardorous spiritual tests of temptation in the previous stage. The Lovers give us the gift of balance, harmony, unity, compromise and merging between opposites through pronounced tolerance. In The Lovers, we know how to abandon selfishness, coming from a place of true compassion, and thus we achieve the state of Cosmic perfection in blissful union with another. The key difference between conformism and love is authentic connection, coming from an open heart space, as opposed to creating an illusion for the sake of gaining approval.
The key word for a Life Path 6 is honesty. If you stay true to yourself and to others, and you express it from a vulnerable place inside yourself, the scales will automatically tip towards the balancing energy you possess inside. Remember, that you have the power not only to be swayed by illusions, but also to create them in front of others. Use this power responsibly, not for your own benefit but for the sake of creating an intimate, mutual experience of complete acceptance and harmony. Don't let the pleasures of worldly experiences sway you from your spiritual mission, which is as real as for any other Life Path Number. There is depth to be found in the expression of every Number, and you are the spiritual gateway between One and Oneness. You have the key power to make heavy cosmic decisions as a ritual of passage, and with this power comes responsibility.

Rant time!
You know, I've been thinking it for a while, but fanon c!Dream is straight up boring.
And you know that c!Dream is one of my favourite characters usually, but... man. The idea that he needs to be sympathetic or justified in what he did to be enjoyed just sucks out all the fun for me!
It like trying to give sympathetic reasons to Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls. Why would you do it? They are both chaotic assholes who hurt others for fun, why is it this hard to enjoy them as such?
Like... man...
I sometimes see takes that are like: "but c!Dream did everything for a good goal, he was trying to bring the server together" and I'm just sitting here wondering if we even watched the same streams.
Like, yeah, he WAS planning to bring everyone together, after kidnapping c!Tommy and killing c!Tubbo, but he wasn't planning to do so in any way that's considerable "good". He was literally planning to blackmail everyone into obedience. How is that a good or noble goal? Since when wanting absolute control over people was a good thing?
And some of this people are the same who'll call c!Wilbur or c!Tubbo a "dictator" and they really don't see the irony there.
And the big issue I have with this is when people try to use this reasoning to justify exile, because it doesn't even make any sense. How did abusing a teen further the goal of bringing a server together? Seriously, how did kidnapping and abusing c!Tommy to the point of him becoming actively suicidal help anything? It only motivated c!Tommy in wanting to bring him down more, which, good for c!Tommy, he deserved to murder a bitch, but still! How does that help for unity?
Oh absolutely.
Though, while I don't really like fanon Dream either and find him boring, the concept is... Interesting? Well, it's definitely interesting it's just not as new and unexplored as what we actually get with many characters in canon.
Someone, who apparently holds a position of authority and power by nature, with no inherent malicious goals or anything, just the normal amount of imperfect morality; being challenged on the grounds of the duality between his inherent power and his inherent flaws, becoming defensive and over time becoming more and more removed from his own humanity and morals? Maybe his morals didn't even change, maybe he was always willing to do the things he ended up doing and what changed is his judgement on when these actions are warranted?
And if you've managed to follow my thoughts you might have noticed how fanon Dream easily turned into what a lot of us consider canon Dream. Because in my opinion, those two aren't that different. Fanon Dream might (mostly) be how canon Dream saw the entire conflict at some point in time. I don't like throwing around medical terms because I don't like perpetuating any wrong stereotyped and all that jazz, but I can't start studying psychology so I'll kinda have to, so please excuse me when I say this but. Dream is delusional.
Nowadays he's separated himself from his own humanity to such an extreme that, yeah, he's not gonna see himself as the victim, but also. Such things change and we legitimately don't know how he was thinking before. Well... Exile? I guess? We don't know how much of his godcomplex is this showmanship against himself similar to how Wilbur often fooled himself into thinking that he was thinking a certain way. We don't know how much of the way he acts is performance especially if the audience might be himself.
I like to think that most fanon works are legitimately just his delusional daydreams in a time when he was still maybe grappling with the knowledge of his actions. Because I like to imagine that there was an internal conflict that he resolved with his godcomplex.
That when he took a breather and re-evaluated his own actions, he found a way to justify it in his head to keep him going for a bit more and the longer he went down the road, the less he could justify his actions and the more he had to justify that with just. Distancing himself from... Well... Humanity, morality... All of that.
I hope I'm making sense here? Fanon Dream is such a microcosm of the complexity that canon Dream likely is and yeah that's usually disappointing but also. Sometimes we have 10 minutes of absolute simplicity.
Usually I know that I'm a complex human person, in a world that wasn't created In a specific way to fit the shapes humanity moves in, that date both exists and also doesn't and that life just is. And sometimes I just lie down, know that I'm an utter failure and that's it. And then after those 10 minutes are over I once again have the energy to know that I wasn't born with a purpose given to me because there is nothing with the authority and power to give me a purpose and that that is both absolute meaninglessness and absolute freedom.
So yeah, dream apologism fanfics are dreams way of coping with depression or whatever that is when his brain doesn't have the energy for keeping up his godcomplex. Mayhaps.
Holy shit i gotta Sound pretentious as fuck

Dick Grayson and Temper
For whatever reason, Dick’s temper has become one of the main traits that people focus on when looking at Dick’s character. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, since he does have quite the temper, but since it has become one of those essential aspects of his personality for a lot of people, I just wanted to clarify a few things I think get misconstrued?
Certain people take Dick having a temper and equate it with him having anger issues or thin skin. It’s bled into art, text posts, fics...where Dick is described/shown essentially as a petty asshole, someone who has a tendency to overreact and lash out at family and friends, someone who is whiny and always complaining (@bigskydreaming goes a little more into this perception here). I don’t think this is a fair interpretation of Dick’s character at all. There are two main things I feel like people need to keep in mind when thinking about Dick’s temper.
1.) Dick’s infamous temper is, 9 times out of 10, directed at criminals.
Nightwing (1996) #65
When Dick mentions struggling with his temper, he is almost always talking about the anger he feels towards criminals, not loved ones. When he sees people hurt or in danger, especially those closest to him, he gets pissed and can go too far. He often gets angry in defense of his family and those he protects.
Titans Vol. 2 #29
Batman and Robin #12
In fact, one of the biggest examples of his temper is him beating the Joker to death, as a result of the Joker killing Jason and Tim. Like many heroes, Dick struggles with not crossing the line when faced with crime; this doesn’t mean that he is the same way with those he loves.
2.) In most circumstances, Dick has demonstrated excellent control of his anger. So, Dick may have a bad temper...but it usually doesn’t make an appearance unless he is under an immense amount of pressure (and sometimes not even then).
Injustice Gods Among Us #16
Dick’s not a doormat and he can be confrontational if that’s what is needed to get the job done, but he is also known for keeping a cool head under immense pressure and stress. He’s known in the superhero community for resolving conflict and has often been called the glue” that keeps various teams together. That wouldn’t mesh with the idea that he is constantly losing his temper. In fact, his middle name might as well be de-escalation, because that’s pretty consistently what he does. Look at how he acts in various arguments:
Example #1: While Nightwing is off-world with the Titans, Jason dies. Likely struggling with grief, Bruce doesn’t attempt to contact Dick while he is off world or when he returns. Dick is left to find out through a teammate, Danny Chase. Despite being left in the dark, Dick still goes to the cave to try to support Bruce. He puts his feelings to the side, and doesn’t even bring up the fact that he was hurt by Bruce’s exclusion. Unfortunately, the conversation derails regardless, and Bruce ends up hitting Dick and telling him that it was a mistake to invite Dick into his life.
The New Teen Titans #55
Look at how Dick reacts. Even when Batman hits him and yells extremely harsh things at him, he doesn’t lash out in turn or yell back. He keeps calm and continues to talk to Batman; he likely understands that this is a product of Bruce’s grief and as a result allows his feelings/hurts to go unaddressed.
Example #2 (inspired by @hood-ex post here): Garth loses his temper when he learns that the Titans won’t help him with a problem he’s having. When Robin tries to stop the fight, Garth punches him.
Teen Titans (1966) #28
After he takes the hit, Dick continues to try to keep people from fighting, and in the end, Dick once again puts his bruised feelings to the side and doesn’t say a word of complaint to keep team unity. He still goes and helps Garth with his problem.
Example #3: After Donna’s death, Dick was devastated. He spiraled into depression. In the aftermath, he was stricter and quicker to anger than he would normally be. Even his leadership of the Outsiders was effected, and as a result, Anissa, Black Lightning’s daughter, was seriously hurt. Black Lightning is not pleased; he slams Nightwing against a wall and yells at him.
Outsiders (2003) #16
Even when Dick is emotionally compromised and short tempered, he still isn’t looking for a fight. He doesn’t retaliate when Black Lightning slams him against the wall, and he doesn’t interrupt when Pierce tears into him (for a whole page of the comic). It’s not like Pierce goes easy with his criticism; yet, Dick remains stoic and takes it. He doesn’t say a word of complaint or defense, and he doesn’t lash out. He keeps his temper under control. (Just an fyi for those wondering, but this is definitely one of those times Dick deserved a harsh talking to, lmao, support you Black Lightning!!)
Example #4: The Batfam is fighting a villain known as Mother, who is known for brainwashing people. Anyone could be in her control, so when Tim is acting suspiciously, Dick decides to investigate to ensure that Tim is not a double agent. Dick finds out that Tim secretly kept his family in a hidden location to protect them, and unintentionally brings trouble to their door. On the flip side, Tim gets angry at Dick for sneaking around behind his back and putting his family in danger. Though Dick tries to explain his actions, Tim won’t hear it and instead throws a punch.
Batman and Robin Eternal #5
Even when Tim punches him out of the blue, ironically because he can’t control his temper, Dick just takes the hit and lets him walk away. He doesn’t ever push Tim for an apology, and Tim never gives one. The rest of the series, people give Dick crap for betraying Tim’s trust, and despite Dick’s reasonable concerns being the impetus for his actions, Dick accepts the other’s criticism without complaint.
Examples #5-57: Just think of all the times that Damian insulted Dick and told him he couldn’t cut it and generally was acting like a little shit, when Dick was struggling with Batman’s death and with taking on the cowl and with running Bruce’s life, and Dick still never gave up on Damian and gave him Robin. Very patient, very thick skin.
And I could add even more moments! I don’t mean to go overboard, but the idea is that, over pretty much his entire history, from Robin to Nightwing to Batman and back, there are more times that Dick puts his feelings to the side and lets people yell at him (and basically physically assault him RIP) for the greater good, then times he flies off the handle and loses his temper, especially when compared to other characters in the Batfam. Seeing people say that Dick is secretly an angry asshole when pushed a little or is always blowing things out of proportion and being whiny is just annoying, especially when Dick canonically has worked very hard to keep his cool and mediate in various tense situations, even when he has reason to get offended and retaliate.
And this isn’t me saying that Dick can’t lash out, cause duh he’s a human being and he’s not perfect. He does have a temper and sometimes can say harsh things to those he loves. But, he doesn’t usually lose his cool, and when he does it is usually a surprise. The rarity of Nightwing giving into his temper is part of the reason it is so impactful when he does fly off the handle.
A lot of the panels you see floating around about Dick’s temper are 1) from times he was brainwashed or mentally influenced (Dick yelling at Donna, Alfred, and Joey are all from a single time when he was brainwashed by Brotherblood for example), 2) from times he was in great emotional/mental distress from the deaths of those close to him, or 3) examples of times that Dick is standing up for himself, that I don’t really see as him having a temper? And a lot of those fights/arguments that are shown are not as one sided as tumblr makes them seem, lmao. Either way, most of these times aren’t really representative of his normal behavior or attitude.
In conclusion, Dick isn’t some petty jerk with anger management issues; he’s a human being, who sometimes gets angry and upset like every other human being in the world. He has a temper, but I don’t feel like it should define him in the way and to the extent that it currently does.
P.S. This isn’t me trying to excuse the times that Dick has been nasty and let his temper run away from him, obviously. Like I said, he’s human and he’s made mistakes. But he doesn’t lash out normally or often. I’m just trying to put things in perspective.
#batman is prob the only one who can really make him lose it#and bruce kind of deserves a little talk back in my opinion lmao#plus his temper has literally vanished into thin air#in these rebirth comics#so for people to be making it so integral#is just trying to make Dick out to be a jerk lmao#nightwing#dick grayson#bruce wayne#batman#tim drake#red robin#teen titans#outsiders#temper#dick grayson temper#character analysis#meta

Ninth House In the Signs
Aries-
When the ninth house is in the sign of Aries, a person can be too passionate about their beliefs, not allowing others to express their system of convictions. Fighters for religion, ethical approach, college, or their own progress of any kind are seen here. In general, this is a strong position that finds energy in the future and draws a person towards positive change. However, any ties to the past will make their dreamland vivid and blur the direction they are supposed to follow. Once they feel they are on the right path, with a mission to accomplish and deep beliefs leading forward, these are the exact people who will learn about boundaries, conflict, and fiercely achieve any goal they set out to reach. They tend to find purpose only in things they are truly passionate about and wither in any circumstances that don’t invigorate them and make them feel alive. They need their talents put to use and the fire in their stomach constantly burning in order to live a long, creative and healthy existence.
Taurus-
If the ninth house is set in Taurus, the purpose of a person’s life is always found somewhere in the material world. Experience needs to be built in the real world, through financial and physical matters, and this is the exact reason why these individuals turn to education in fields of finance, agriculture, cooking, or real estate. For as long as they don’t lack initiative and primal energy, they can truly be fantastic in practical issues, but also tend to close up for new experiences if they get hurt or disappointed. This is a tricky position for as much as the beneficent sign of Taurus can be mellow it can also be lazy, static, or stiff to accept change and the beauty of constant movement. There is a special joy these people find in tradition if their Venus is beneficently set, and they will strive to reach family values and practical pleasures as much as they can in this lifetime.
Gemini-
The ninth house in Gemini leads to growth through communication. These individuals will learn new things quickly and with passion, while at the same time having trouble holding on to large chunks of knowledge or finding synthesis for everything they’ve learned. To mend the troubles found in overthinking, they need to also learn to stay concise and focused on one point at a time. If they have too many goals at once, they will rarely manage to reach any of them, and the most important thing the ninth house in Gemini has to teach, is how one should think and use their words. If they find true emotional intimacy, it will usually give them a strong basis to improve their approach and help them thrive in fields of oratory skills, public exposure, trade, and information technology.
Cancer-
With the ninth house in Cancer, there is always a simple striving held in a person’s path – to find peace. This is not an easy mission for someone with their mind standing in the way, for our human nature often doesn’t allow enough silence and peace to reach that much needed state of clarity and peace. A strong purpose is always in connection with family issues that have to be resolved or gained through their own ability to form calm relationships with their partner and children. Very often, this position will point to the possibility of life abroad, in case it is confirmed with at least two more significations in the chart. Their greatest teachers are found in their own heart and they will come to see that only people they love can actually teach them anything at all. This will lead to some hurtful emotional experiences for the purpose of each feeling they have might be to teach, rather than last or provide them with that much needed peace.
Leo-
When the ninth house is set in the sign of Leo, we see that someone has to clarify the image of self apart from their family, upbringing and values taught at home. If they are too proud to accept that truth is relative to all people, they can become pushy and force their opinions and convictions on everyone around them. The key to a healthy existence here is often hidden in their chase for emotional satisfaction and the Moon will speak of their ability to forgive, move forward, and accept their feelings instead of trying too hard to remain in a rational mode. Awareness will grow as soon as they realize how vulnerable they actually are, face the fact that they are human and that their emotional core gives them much more benefits than weaknesses. They will learn from dominant figures, their boss and their father, but rarely have enough respect for the feminine side within to achieve their incredible full potential.
Virgo-
The ninth house in Virgo speaks of the focus on helping others, charity work, and matters of modesty and detail. Those who were born with this house position often have the need to learn how to heal and rationally understand the intelligence of their physiology and practical issues in the material world. However, their ego stands in their way and they will always have a challenge of their Sun to overcome to truly reach the state of wisdom and purpose. Something is always used and needs fixing in Virgo, and it is quite common for these individuals to have problems while traveling for choosing accommodation that is too cheap to be enjoyed, or overpaid for the one they get. They will have a flare for literature and many linguists and writers will have this position accented, if their tenth house supports strong materialization of everything they have learned.
Libra-
If the ninth house is set in Libra, there is something strangely confusing in a person’s belief system, the main problem being the fact that their beliefs seem to be defined by other people. They will find many role models in this lifetime and need to overcome their self-criticism in order to truly reach their desired state of mind, physical state, or professional goals that they see as their calling. Hard work is needed for their plans to materialize and they will often be stuck in their dreamland, or when disappointed too many times, in their world of envy and feelings of incompetence. Relationships with quality will have to stand the test of time, and it is very often that these individuals remarry, sometimes only to find that marriage is too serious for them in the first place. When well supported, they will blossom in areas such as law, diplomacy, marriage counseling, and all activities done with a partner or someone they have an emotional bond with.
Scorpio-
With the ninth house in Scorpio, we have to understand that a person will make choices that many would think of as strange. In the most positive manifestation, this will give one an incredible depth of mind, belief in the power of planet Earth, connection to endless pools of inner energy and a tendency to study science, psychology, or even occult teachings. Still, we have to keep in mind that practically speaking, these individuals have a belief system rooted somewhere in the river of their ancestors, highly unconscious and strange for many people around them. Their convictions will be powerful and obvious in their manifestations, while their need to learn about deep matters that others don’t want to deal with often sets them apart from their group at school, college, or at any family gathering. They have to find a way to satisfy their inner craving for deep understanding of the Universe and Unity, but they will find it only if they mend their broken relationships and realize that no man is born into this world to be alone.
Sagittarius-
The ninth house in the sign of Sagittarius speaks of a higher mind, in a way, and shows one’s need to travel, learn, and widen their horizons as much as possible. The trouble with this position is held in the inability to go deep enough to actually ground ideas and entire mental belief systems. Even though these people can be incredible teachers, attorneys, gurus, or motivational speakers, they will often have trouble accepting change as a necessary tool for improvement. Sticking to their moral convictions without a doubt in their mind, they will forget that change is the only thing that will truly help them regenerate. Aiming high, they don’t have a clear idea of everything going on at planet Earth’s surface and need a reality check from time to time, just to remember that distances are there to be crossed, not just to be observed.
Capricorn-
If one’s ninth house is set in the sign of Capricorn, their beliefs can be annoyingly stiff. It will be very hard for them to make a change in pace or direction once they set out to do something. Their main problem is hidden in the real purpose of all things in their lives. This is why they sometimes have to exchange their practicality and common sense for a dream or two. The main objective with this position is to achieve a state of acceptance that allows these individuals not to push their convictions on everyone around them. There will be an ease in learning about ancient teachings, history, substance, and mathematics if their Saturn is well set in a sign that gives it dignity. However, responsibility they need to take seems to be too distant for them to reach its understanding. Once they do, they will finally have a chance to create a solid foundation for their future endeavors.
Aquarius-
With the ninth house in Aquarius, one’s striving and desires are never ordinary. Learning through symbols will be as easy as it gets, which makes these people turned to astrology, mathematics and programming. The problem will arise when a person with this ninth house doesn’t feel the need to accept responsibility for their own life. A truly disappointing thing here hides in the fact that their routine is shattered enough to make them too tired to learn everything that interests them. This great mind will be truly disturbed by the lack of substance, seriousness to their approach, and a sort of superficial Air-like nature that won’t allow them to sink deep enough to create a strong foundation for their ideas to land. If they take matters in their own hands and make a plan they will stick to at all times, they will feel their energy rise. Finally, this will result in their creativity leading them to incredible innovative moments they have been wishing for since they were born.
Pisces-
If someone’s ninth house is set in the sign of Pisces, there is definitely a mission they should follow in this lifetime. In case they haven’t found their right calling, these people will be dreamers, prone to stressful experiences that could have been avoided if they gave everyone in their life enough freedom. They cannot be tied down and shouldn’t ever try to bond too strongly to other people. When they give freedom they will get freedom to grow and find their right direction in life before they start feeling like its whole meaning is lost. The sign of Pisces creates magic, but also rules all poisonous and unexplored areas of life. This will lead to education in chemistry, pharmacy, psychology or sailing. For as long as these individuals are not asleep but wide awake and pursuing their passion, they will have a chance to truly leave a mark in this world.

assuming your muse has changed in some way, be it internally or as a result of a change of the external factors around them, how is your muse different? these can be as small as an opinion on a song they hadn’t released previously or as big as a major change in their background.
Probably the most significant change is the fact that now Sunghee is slightly younger and also the maknae of Catalyst. Before, they were already part of the maknae line, which naturally made them one of the youngest in the group, but now they are the absolute youngest, currently even the baby of Gold Star, which has considerably changed the way people treat them. It’s not something Sunghee is used to, because they are used to being the older sibling, but now as the maknae they are the one being babied. They don’t… particularly care for it? The insistence that others pay for shit when they go out together or the treatment they usually get for it are both things that make them slightly annoyed.
Another change is perhaps in their image. Not so much a change per se as a bigger focus on it than before? Now there’s an actual effort from Gold Star to sell Sunghee as this like… almost perfect little brother. It was mentioned in their app that Sunghee got the position as an MC because of an interview they did where people kept gushing about how polite and sweet they were, and they easily managed to make people fall in love with them because of this approachable, welcoming and kind personality of theirs, which is a considerable contrast to the group’s image overall. Sunghee feels an extra pressure to present themselves as a pleasant person all the time, which can be very draining.
Something small that changed is putting more focus on their lighthearted personality. Sunghee was turning out to be too quiet and too serious for who they actually are, and lost some of the playfulness that they were supposed to carry and that’s going to be more prevalent moving forward. (wc 296)
what does your muse think of their company and their group?
Sunghee’s opinion about Catalyst is about the same as they had about Unity. They enjoy the type of music they release, mostly, and the music they don’t enjoy they just don’t go back to. They are thankful that they weren’t stuck in a group with a concept like Cloud because Sunghee knew they would be even more babied than they already are, and as much as they don’t mind being the playful maknae, they wouldn’t want to be restricted by Cloud’s image. And they are also thankful Catalyst is not too conceptual the way Quantum is because they would struggle with sticking with that perfect idol group formula.
The biggest issue Sunghee has with Gold Star is the absurd emphasis on personality. Might seem like a contradiction, considering that most of their fame they currently have is a result of their personality being used as a bargaining chip to sell them, but it’s precisely because of that Sunghee feels as if they are not allowed to ever do anything wrong. Which is very stifling to someone who can’t always control the way they will react to things. It’s very overwhelming to be constantly aware not only of the performance you’re putting on but also the way you present yourself — their personality that is sold to the public is very close to who Sunghee truly is, but they are made to feel as if there is no wiggle room and that’s daunting. (wc 242)
is your muse on their first contract or their second? if they’ve renewed, what were their feelings around that at the time and what were their hopes for their second contract? if they haven’t renewed, what are their current thoughts on the end of their eventual first contract?
As Catalyst is still a very recent group, they are still on their third year together, Sunghee is obviously still in their first contract. For now, they don’t think there’s anything that would push them to not want to sign with the company again. Sunghee would prefer if the group stayed the way it is because they do enjoy the experience of being in a group and it wouldn’t be as fun to be an idol if they were by themselves — hence why for solo music promotions they don’t enjoy doing a lot and prefer only doing the basics — but they also sometimes think about whether the increase in their fandom is going to affect the way they feel about the group eventually. Catalyst is one of the biggest groups fandom wise, so it’s something that scares them a little bit.
Going into contract renewals eventually probably one of the things Sunghee is going to ask for the most is more creative control of group related music. Not that they wanted to work on a lot of things, and so far they’ve been given some level of creative freedom to write lyrics and whatnot, but Sunghee would like to participate more in other creative aspects. Another thing they will probably try to negotiate when time comes is more freedom to decide what things they have to do, solo promotions wise. (wc 232)
what are your muse’s goals and motivations?
Being a musician was always Sunghee’s first and main goal. Becoming an idol was a short-term, almost impulsive goal of theirs that they had when they were a teenager, and somehow they managed to make that come true. Working with music was something that Sunghee decided on at a very young age, even before they considered becoming an idol, and they genuinely feel very blessed that they get to do that. They don’t really have ambitions for awards or recognition beyond what they already have, especially because the fans give them a lot of the reassurance they used to seek from people in their lives. So now Sunghee is trying to focus on other short-term goals, related to things that interest them. Participating on a cooking show, for instance, is a goal for them. Learning new recipes that they can actually enjoy eating is also a goal for them. Having a radio show of their own, develop a career in hosting which is something they realised they really enjoy — things in the realm of idoldom that don’t necessarily have to do with music. If anything, their only long term goal music wise is to work with Chinese artists eventually, but they’d like to do that more behind the scenes, as a producer or a songwriter, than anything.
Sunghee would never admit to this out loud but two things motivate them the most. The first is trying to make their family proud. They know whatever they do is going to make their mother proud, but they specifically would like to make their step-father proud of them. That’s probably the hardest thing to do, but they are not giving up on that anytime soon. The other is spite. But in a healthy, non toxic water sign way. Sunghee just kinda wants to prove to anyone who ever doubted they couldn’t do it that they are very capable of doing anything they set their mind to. The world is not built with them in mind, which means they are often exhausting themselves in a way other people don’t have to, but Sunghee is nothing if not motivated to keep going. (wc 358)
what is one conflict, internal or external, that your muse is currently dealing with, has recently dealt with, or will need to deal with in the future?
The eternal source of conflict for Sunghee is the fact that being an idol is exhausting beyond a normal level of exhaustion for them. Not only being constantly aware when they are performing so they won’t forget lyrics or choreography, but also being constantly aware whenever cameras are around since they can’t, as it was mentioned, even let a bit of the less enticing aspects of their personality slip. They are on, on, on, pretty much whenever they are not home, and while Sunghee is still managing to handle that, it’s truly a mystery how things are going to develop moving forward. There’s a real possibility that they might take time off at one point, which is also something they hate even the mere thought of since it feels like admitting defeat.
Something more external is the inevitable questioning of where their “alliances” lie? I’m not planning on going too deeply into it since it involves far too many political things for comfort, but there’s a section of both Catalyst’s fandom as well as people who follow idols in general that question whether being raised in China by a Chinese step-father makes Sunghee too, I guess, China friendly? Again, this is not something that is going to be explored too in depth, but it’s something that inevitably impacts who Sunghee is as a person and might keep them from being able to do a few things they’d like to do. (wc 240)
if your muse has established career claims, what are their thoughts on their career so far? if they do not, how do they feel about not having individual activities yet? what would they like to do in the future, if anything? if they don’t have ambitions for individual activities, explain why.
Most of Sunghee’s established career claims are for credits in Catalyst’s music. Something that was kinda pushed into them from an early age is the thought that rappers should write their own verses. It’s not something they get to do as often when it comes to Catalyst’s discography, especially because Gold Star is still a company that is worried about the quality of the music being released and they trust the idols just as far as they can throw them, and Sunghee is not even that big of a senior, not to mention being the maknae. So they definitely would like to work more on Catalyst’s music in the future, applying themselves more to it is something that they would like to be given a chance to do.
The other established career claim they have has to do with hosting, which is that they hosted the Gayo Daejejeon in 2020. It’s a bit of an extension to their Music Core hosting gig, since it felt like a natural progression for them to host MBC’s end of the year show as they already host their weekly music show. Hosting is definitely one of those things about idol life that Sunghee is very surprised to enjoy as much as they do, and it’s something they want to do more of. Their Music Core gig is ending soon, which is going to be very bittersweet for them, but they would like to work on radio as well as variety shows in general, as they truly do enjoy everything that comes with this hosting path. (wc 261)

Conflicts within teams
Conflicts arise naturally and belong in the development of teams.
"You have to cross the line, just to remember where it lays." -Rise Against , Satellite .
Conflicts can, in some cases, also just be disagreements. Like when you just gave a callout, for example cigar on Kafé, you might mean cigar lounge, but by someone else this might be understood as cigar shop. So you misunderstood each other, in this cases it can be enough to give a little more explanation, adding the lounge or shop to the callout will make it clearer what your intention was/is and that often leads quickly to a solution. Like oh, I call this room piano, and the other one shop, or you come to the solution to call cigar lounge just lounge.
But when you are in a match as a team, and things are not going well and people are getting frustrated with each other, it might not be enough to just give a bit more explanation. When you come across this situation it helps often to focus on what is to come and not on what was. What I means by this is to tell your plan in the upcoming round, what you want to achieve with that plan of yours and what utility or positioning you need from whom to get it done. Most of the times this is the job of the In Game Leader (IGL), but sometimes they can’t get out of their own head, and the help of a teammate is needed.
After the game you can further explain why the first round or rounds did not go so well. As there isn’t enough time for that in the round itself. However, when your team isn’t able to setlle their differences and focus on the task ahead this might be the right time to call in a tactical time out, just to let them discuss their issues shortly.
The Bigger Picture
This mentality of explaining yourself also applies to the bigger picture, a pleasant group atmosphere, where good performance occurs, won’t happen if the members do not know what each other's intentions are. If this is where the issue lies the development went to another phase, the orientation phase.
Don’t be afraid to take a step back and focus on the orientation phase and to get to know each other a little better. If you have not read my blog post or seen my video on the orientation phase, I highly reccomend you do either one of them. Disagreements usually arise after irritations, think of irritations such as when someone is always late for training, when they don't take the dry runs seriously, when someone runs in without droning first or when someone does not use their utility sufficiently.
When this is your issue make sure you make agreements about these kinds of irritations. When the operators jager and wamai were meta, it made every piece of utility matter. In the case of SSG, their Nomad player, Thinkingnade , didn't use his flashbangs often enough. The coach was competent enough to indicate that it was important for Thinkingnade to start using his flashbangs, and the agreement was made that he should focus on using his flashbangs every round on attack, an internal conflict was prevented. https://youtu.be/_Y0H-eI6iBc?t=6766
Conflicts are inevitable
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/358377af41f9314032ec91376f462478/c64270c3b529ef52-7f/s400x600/d8af84f2cb7c2c7646cf4674f243bca18976535b.jpg)
Conflicts are inevitable, because they have their function, in the case of teams that’s creating clarity, clarity about the goals that each one of the members want to achieve, how they want to achieve their goals, and what the way of communicating with each other should be while they are working towards these goals. If a team is able to speak openly about the contradictions that exist and is able to resolve them, it will lead to better functioning and more unity within their goals and methods. Making sure there is time after a game, a scrim or a dry run, so that the team can talk about the irritations that are at play, a solution can be devised, or an agreement can be made. It may also be the case that disagreements about more important matters arise, such as how to treat each other, or what the goals of the group as a whole should be. These escalating conflicts can also be resolved by speaking openly about them. Discussing problems openly is important, because it requires empathy, understanding, respect and communication. All of them are elements that promote effective cooperation.
When there is a disagreement in an important area of cooperation or communication, and one is steadfast in one's own point of view, then there is a case of an escalating conflict. It happens often in these cases that people do not realize that there is a solution that works out well for both parties. By making compromises and talking about their differences you can come to an integrated solution. However, the reason why these often prove difficult is because there is no trust between the parties, because they often have a prejudice about the other. Sometimes, however, group members will avoid contradictions completely because they fear that they will hinder cooperation. This creates apathy (the opposite of empathy), a lack of commitment, hidden irritation and a lack of effective cooperation. This could be because the word conflict itself sounds negative, but as statet before they are necessary for further group development. When conflicts escalate too far and the group members cannot come to an integral solution, in most cases of amateur teams or ranked stacks, this will cause the group to cease to exist, and you will move on to the termination phase, a topic I discuss in an upcoming post, so make sure you follow me and enable notifications.
Conclusion
To conclude, it is important that when get into a conflict you remember that an integrative solution is often possible. Try to have confidence in the other, and communicate your own interests openly, try to put yourself in the other's position.
Your way of telling the story is not always the same as the other person's story, only together can they form the truth. So try to ensure that the other person can also express their interests openly.
Keep in mind the goal of having and resolving conflicts, it contributes to the further formation of a workable unit. When everyone is aligned, it is easy to work together in a coordinated way.
It is true that resolving conflicts takes time and energy, time and energy that cannot be spent on training or competitions. However, an effective way of working together only comes when most conflicts have been sufficiently resolved. So it is not something that you can put aside and forgive and forget.

EP7 :
thoughts that are random :
- why EP6 has 500k more views than EP7 ?
- "its my duty to take care of you" are we supposed to believe that is sweet ?
- ok the sweetness was saved by the hand but i still don’t think acting like caring of someone like that is a duty is sweet/romantic or nice
- I very much know how i’ve been talking a lot about their communication issues in this show and how human like it felt but there is one thing i wanna highlight and give props to in the making of Tian’s character. Despite all i said and how we’ve seen so far the character growth, i noticed how at times given, he’s so opened about everything he’s feeling. Whether it was when he straight up went into telling his friend Tul he might like guys or when he spoke about how worthless he feels after the school catching on fire with Longtae. As someone that has trouble opening up about their feelings, I can only admire how Tian’s carefree personality still shines through in the bad times and how this growth of him is going on (that clearly is far from being completely achieved, for example hello please come clean about the heart transplant). In the first few episodes we had seen him hug his parents when he got the heart disease news but aside that there hadn’t been many moments of the raw him expressing his emotions like that, plus a hug still meant no expressing through words. It doesn’t mean a lot but seeing a character openly discussing his inner conflicts is refreshing
- ok i spoke too soon again, he wants to leave 😭 i still believe everything i said. I think it’s nice how he explains why he wants to leave and what he’s feeling to the other characters bc then it’s not a matter of only the viewers knows and miscommunication. That’s smart writing because we don't want the toxic bs, too many shows have had scene like this where the character doesn’t even explain and just straight up leaves which brings everything back to communication issues. Here even if him wanting to leave isn’t a smart move, will probably cause more chaos and is just a matter of "i’m stubborn and set into my idea i am way too much of a realistic headstrong human", it still takes a lot of courage and smart writing from the producers and writers to make him talk it out with Longtae before doing it, showing in that way, communication progress from the character (notice how he went from letting just a handwritten note to not look for him to his parents to literally saying he feels worthless and like a bad luck burden to the village to Longtae so much that he wants to leave ? This is growth and we love to see it)
- i haven’t commented on it once in 7 episode which is very unusual for me but jewelry on Phupha, that necklace especially, thats pretty (hot)
- their relationship so far has a lot of cringey domestic moments that idk whether i’m here for or not. That one "i want to talk to you more" scene runs on my brain rent free bc still one of the cutest to me so far but that bathroom scene I’m perplexed about
- Dr. Nam you have lost my respect from wanting to cheat on your living in Bangkok girlfriend pulling all that bs. Men being trash once again that’s all.
- this might not have been intentional but Phutian keep on holding their hands with the same hands. Remember that one scene i said Tian gave Phupha the wrong hand so it was slightly awkward bc they couldn’t walk and hold like usually while walking if one is holding with the left one the other with its right one so they can walk together still holding hands. Phutian keep on giving each other the same hand, there Tian puts his right hand on his knee and Phupha puts forward and on top of Tian’s his right one too. I keep on noticing the smallest and most random things but i don't know it feels relevant to me
- them noticing all similarities between Tian and Torfun has me really scared about how this will be developed, because the cliche has lessened i feel less concerned but i really hope they don’t pull that
- how come i’m only on pt3 and i’ve already written this much about EP7
- Did they do the happiness, good health prosperity thing from episodes ago again with love and unity for tian and phupha ?
- Dr. Nam back on his bs again ? this clearly wasn’t his episode
Overall :
I clearly will not comment about the growth again those two paragraphs in the random thoughts convey quite enough already but it makes me happy to notice the slight changes like that because it means great character development and given what we started with, it was important and very needed.
Going back on the domesticity of this show, i have issues with some parts but only because it's a little too much for me given they are not in a relationship still. And even if they were in a relationship unless they have discussed that, that intruding of someone in the bathroom without asking and eveything did not sit well with me. Please a little consent 😔. My brain was very much feeling uncomfortable for Tian's character so that when it got to the face washing part i clearly wasn't all up for it. I like domesticity in relationships but you have to respect boundaries, it should not mean lack of consent even if you are the same gender.
Also not all the domesticity is bad i feel like a lot is cute and sweet and i usually like those kinds of at home romance moments giving your s/o a massage or just talking before sleeping. It's only the making the other uncomfortable that makes me want to step back.

1. What does this session challenge in our group?
This session and the exercises that came along with it were definitely eye-opening as it showed Utilitatem that negotiation plays a significant role in our plan-making and operations even though it is not as prominent and overwhelming (that leads to disastrous consequences), which is a good sign in my opinion. Even before the session, each individual member in the group has been subconciously negotiating with one another as we try to figure out the best course of action for our outputs; whether it be through polls, live discussions, and personal inquiries. Here are my group-mates’ say about the whole ordeal:
Alex: This session challenged our group to think critically. As each of us had our own suggestions, we all had to work together and decide as to what the best answer would be.
Danika: In our group, we all have different personalities and it is especially hard to communicate and get to know each other with this online setting. So for this session, we were challenged to break through the online barriers to be able to build camaraderie with each other in order to accomplish the given tasks.
EG: This session challenged our capability to individually come up with our own ideas and deliver them in a way that would be understandable to the other members of our group. It challenged our ability to negotiate with the various discussions and revisions that we undertook.
Hannah: Our last session tested our understanding and communication skills, in a way that we need to be sympathetically or knowledgeably aware of the everyone’s opinion or point of view. It somehow more of imparting or exchanging ideas and ideals rather than judging one another.
Harly: I noticed that in this session it challenges our capability to communicate and work with each other.
Tranque: This session tested the group's chemistry, coordination, and competence through the different activities. Some obstacles were faced such as virtual communication issues, but the group managed to complete every task by being resourceful, competent, and being united towards the common goal.
2. What did your group learn about during the experiences in this session which you can apply at home, school, and especially in the community as you prepare and implement your projects in the community remotely?
I learned that negotiation is an important tool that helps us in many ways other than just plan-making. Even the most minute decisions and interactions are ladled with negotiation as conflicts (which are not necessarily violent and associated with strong emotions) are usually unavoidable in almost every context. With that being said, negotiation helps each individual in the group by prodding their level-headedness, emotional control, and common sense. Below are my group-mates’ opinions on the matter:
Alex: I learned to listen to my group mates. I also learned that being in a group makes things much easier compared to doing things alone.
Danika: In this session, our group learned the importance of clear communication. It is important to speak out your concerns for a resolution to be negotiated, to listen to your groupmates without being bias to your own opinion and understanding to be able to agree on an appropriate action. These are important because as we will be making our community project, it would require us to be good communicators if we want an outcome that is desirable and done efficiently.
EG: I personally learned how to apply the negotiation skills of listening, speaking, and understanding in order to achieve a successful two-way dialogue.
Hannah: One of our group learnings that we can apply at home, community or anywhere else is that a good communication, listening and understanding skills are an essential life ability to effectively validate and appreciate other’s opinion and stand. It produces greater consideration and sympathetic for a unity.
Harly: After the session, I learned that communication is essential. It's important that the lines of communication are open in order for a group to work well together. Effective communication within a team will build a common purpose among team members that will allow them to reach their goals.
Tranque: I've learned the importance of communication in every situation, either personal or in a community. Having different opinions and perspectives towards somethimg is normal. But with communication and proper way of negotiating, conflict can be avoided.

HOW TO EXHIBIT TEAMWORK IN THE WORKPLACE (TIPS FROM STUDENTS)
By Group 1 - ACTS
Within interdependent workers, working collaboratively to achieve a common goal or to finish a task in the most efficient way possible is the definition of teamwork. However, teamwork is not just seen in the workplace alone. In our school, we may have developed that sense of teamwork while doing projects or writing a research paper/thesis. From these experiences, we may also have concluded a keen sense of understanding what a poor teamwork is. Varying internet connectivity, tech issues, poor communication, little to no trust and non-participative members are seen as problems of attaining overall teamwork, especially during a time of a pandemic. And we know for sure that we want to achieve a specific common goal with such accuracy and precision, regardless of any situation. So what are some tips to exhibit teamwork in the workplace now that we know that teamwork is also accomplished in school? Well, this blog is for YOU!
But first… what are the "TEAM"portance of teamwork?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/be6b9e481d8739797d5412ceb70a8a4a/d2e01c3713542a13-b0/s540x810/8f935412f30c452f77fbfe386dc707139f967cb1.jpg)
A team’s success can be driven by a stronger bond of teamwork. Oftentimes, we can hear this line: "Teamwork makes the dream work" by John Maxwell. In this quote, everyone involved in the process has a contribution and this contribution always matters to seek success. Meanwhile, it’s also important that there are diverse talents and skills from different members. Through teamwork, everyone can share those talents or skills to pull out the best project in the most efficient and effective manner. For instance, one may be good financially, while the other is good in communication. This may promote unity in an environment that encourages friendship and loyalty within the group. Thus, these stronger bonds of relationships motivate each member to work harder, to cooperate and to be supportive of one another.
Furthermore, teamwork’s importance also includes providing a medium for stronger communication towards contrasting perspectives and opinions. But first, we all know that brainstorming is really important when tackling key projects, and every member is expected to share their ideas, thoughts and approaches to reach success. By means of communication, this may strengthen accountability and may help make decisions faster, compared to when working alone. On the other hand, teamwork also offers a great opportunity for learning. It’s no doubt that every one of us makes mistakes; it’s inevitable. However, through teamwork, we are able to gain insight or learn new concepts from more experienced members or just learn to avoid future errors in the workplace. Thus, one’s presence in a team is really important, not just to do one’s work, but also to learn in the most profound way.
So now… here are 5 cer"TEAM" tips in exhibi"TEAM" teamwork
Slice up the pizza and share them to the group
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0148178b2aed9f4073df877d160a4f7e/d2e01c3713542a13-7e/s540x810/6105d070df9b062a4d8781a46c2cc7d28466dca3.jpg)
Pizza celebration is so fun, especially when a work is done. But if a work is not yet done, it is good to share the pizza slices to everyone.
What we mean here is that a certain project should be divided into parts and be distributed to all the members equally. For instances like when the project should be done in the following week at most, it is more likely that one person alone can’t finish that job. Thus, breaking down the project and sorting who can do ‘what’ according to their expertise, interest and availability is important and the best thing to do. From the supervision of a team leader, he/she may lead the team and may remind the members about due dates and upcoming tasks to further the process of making the project.
Scenario:
In two adjacent restaurants, Christine Vivien and Claudine are the head managers. They are in-charge of maintaining staff and ensuring that the workplace is safe and secured for everyone.
One day, both of them received offers to cater a wedding for Christine and a christening for Claudine. Both of these events will eventually happen in the next three days.
In Christine’s managed restaurant, she alone planned the preparation for the big event. On the first day, she lists all what her constituents will do in the next days until the day of the event. In her plan, she wanted everyone to work together one food at a time to make sure that quality is well-attained.
On the other hand, Claudine’s approach is different to that of Christine’s. Instead of working one at a time, she divided all the tasks to all her co-workers. One cooks for a specific food while the other one is working on a specific dessert. In this manner, they were able to finish all the desired food on time and ready to be delivered.
For Christine’s case, they weren’t able to finish the project on time, so they ask the couple to allot more time in waiting for the food. Despite being a newbie in this managerial position, she took the responsibility for the delays and promised to learn from her mistakes.
Let the microphone be for everyone
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5a077ee94d6123610008778c00bccde3/d2e01c3713542a13-c3/s540x810/bb4541afc106e464f2e53451b3f0ebb35b528c0b.jpg)
Promoting a good communication in the workplace is very important for a team to work efficiently and effectively. Leaders should allow their members to openly communicate with their peers about a certain part of a project to also allow a smooth undertaking of the project. This may include voicing out their ideas and thoughts regarding any challenges that they may face or suggestions on how to improve the project. This may be an avenue to get feedbacks and opinions towards the team’s common goal. Additionally, investing time for open group conversation will not only benefit the project, but this will also build trust in the group, while eventually leading to productivity and morale of the team.
Scenario:
Krista Allen is a newly-hired member of a business team. She often stays silent in the corner of her office and only talks to her co-workers whenever she needs to.
One time, they had a group meeting and she sits, as usual, in the corner of a small meeting room. Then, the presentation by their team leader begins.
The PowerPoint presentation flashes their approach on how to increase their sales after a great loss last week. His team leader envisions to bounce back better to prove to the CEO of the company that their team matters.
However, the team leader just abruptly assigns tasks to his constituents, even without an open-group discussion whether they agree that it will be effective or not.
For Krista, who has been to many companies and who has acquired certain skills in the business world, she does not agree with the ‘ancient’ approach that their team leader has presented. As shy as a rookie, she just shrugged her shoulder and eventually just agreed in her head about the project.
Despite what happened in the meeting, Krista went on to talk with their team leader and discussed her ideas and thoughts, and encourage the team leader to have an open mic conversation to tackle more possible effective approach.
Sooner or later, Krista was promoted to being the team leader, a feat she wants to be ever since her first-time having a job. This time, she’s not that shy girl anymore, and she also does not sit in the corner of the room.
Get to know ME! and everybody
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d41ec35e085faa882d47467d95c8f8ec/d2e01c3713542a13-3b/s540x810/e6420701923ace41bd7391052f377372387e6f53.jpg)
A team can’t perform teamwork if they are not trusting each other. They also need to be comfortable with the environment. That is why getting to know each one’s strengths and weaknesses should be a priority prior to working as a team. Through this, a team can carry out a more open conversation. By knowing one’s teammates, they will be able to trust them and talk to them without hesitation. Indeed, a good relationship brings a healthy work environment and that begins with knowing one another.
Scenario:
Ianna is part of a financial team in one of Bonifacio Global City’s best performing financial companies. In there, she is assigned to collect and report the money gathered from the sales of all the brand’s franchises in the Metro.
She works along with eight co-workers. In their team, three of them are new.
One day at their job, the team had a conflict to divide the tasks to do, although there is a plan made by the Human Resources Department. As an assistant team leader to the group, they had a complicated schedule and she struggled keeping up with the deadlines.
She also found out that the newbies are doing lesser job compared to them and that is the reason why they failed to finish tasks in the earliest time possible.
So in order to decide first-hand, the team set up a meeting to open their thoughts about certain topics in the workplace and also freely opened their strengths and weaknesses. With this simple getting to know each other, a trust formed and helped them made their task easier. One is more proficient in this part, while the other is good at this. Through this, their job became easier and we’re able to perform tasks well-orderly and productively.
Goals are clear, mission is near
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f66efd3fe2540ec84ea1c379b6294fbf/d2e01c3713542a13-78/s540x810/02cbdf7c033d6279cfc84c0d8beb5b8b1659bfc0.jpg)
The team should have a deep understanding of what they need to do to accomplish a certain goal or mission. A team’s goal should be clear and well-planned so as to interpret this in the most systematic and strategic way possible. If they execute this goal properly, there will also be a chance for them to save time, effort, resources and money. In this tip, a leader should take responsibility to lead the team on top. It is important that he/she makes sure that everyone understands the plans and ideas, as well making sure that the team establishes unity and healthy relationship with each other towards a goal/mission.
Scenario:
Marcus has been working for Joebeth’s company for almost 6 years now. He is a mission-driven worker and has a clear goal in improving his work with the company.
He loves his work so much that he doesn’t even consider it as a job, but a hobby. He is also very loyal to the company. Because of his loyalty to the company, he got promoted into a higher role just before his 35th birthday celebration.
As a team leader aiming for the best of the company, he always seeks for the best possible way to move his team on top.
However, when he asked a co-worker to do a certain job, the co-worker went bananas as she said that she is having a ton of workload and admitted that she is just doing this job for the salary and has really no passion at all to do the assigned tasks.
Joshua, meanwhile, concluded that his co-worker is wrong when she said that she’s getting tons of workload. The truth is that she’s just not doing the best work so she tends to repeat doing it again and again. And because Josh is a mission-driven person, he motivated his co-worker and guided her the proper ways to do better in this job.
Sooner or later, his co-worker was able to accomplish tasks with such precision and has been with the company for 4 years already. It’s true that a team shouldn’t just dream of achieving a goal, but also encouraging and motivating everyone to achieve that goal as one.
Get the party poppers and have a blast
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/785f2b2aff3b9f5f947ef0945c388b37/d2e01c3713542a13-dc/s540x810/6440149ea6dd65677fe27a636edd4cbb7c2907a1.jpg)
Finally, you’re final project is done and successful. Now, it’s really time to slice up the real pizza and share them to the group.
It’s important for a team to celebrate the littlest to the biggest success they may accomplish. And everyone’s contribution should be appreciated through this. For some, they may also appreciate a specific person for an achievement being brought to the team. On a side note, celebrations doesn’t have to be lavish. A simple sliced bread and coke will do, but we know for some that an incentive or a token from the highest seating position would be more ideal. Anyway, when you do achieve a milestone as a team, always make time to celebrate together to build a stronger and more comfortable relationship with one another.
Scenario:
Joshua is a great team leader and an outstanding individual himself. He does his work on time, neat and clean and of quality. He is also always regarded by his CEO as the top performing employee for the nth time this year.
One day, a massive team project that would open an opportunity for them to be known in the industry has unveiled their interest in their company and that his team would be given a major task to this.
Of course, there’s no doubt that his talent became a great contribution to the team. As a leader, he already made plans for the task to do on a specific day and hour and everything was on sight.
Further, everyone’s capacity to cope with the new environment has never been a problem.
But suddenly, a conflict occurred. One of his needed members was diagnosed with COVID-19.
His presence is very much needed, especially now that this is a big project for them.
Despite the consequences, Joshua managed to adjust to the needed skills to substitute in this part of a project. He piloted the team to their goal and so they did achieved that goal.
They celebrated the successful project and, miraculously, the one diagnosed with the virus has tested negative. During this time, they celebrated not just for the group’s success, but also for their team member who battled a life-and-death situation.
Our workplace speaks volume when teamwork exists. And there’s no doubt that successful organizations value teamwork so highly.
Remember: Teamwork can’t be done without ‘YOU’ and ‘ME’. These tips that we mentioned may be a great help to YOU who’s probably starting your job today. Good luck on your journey!

Series Review Pt. 2/3
Part One
Part Three
Continuing the trend, lots to read under the cut.
In part one we established that the central conflict of the series as a whole is not so much a black and white “good guys side vs bad guys side” but of a much more complex societal problem stemming from individual choices and series of choices made by individual people and the impact those choices have on others. This is the heart of the current conflict between Hawks and Twice.
Twice and Hawks share many things in common and have been shown to develop a genuine friendship in their shared time in the PLF. This, however, has not changed the fact that they are still functioning from opposite sides of the central conflict - at least the institutional facet of it. Each of them has taken up a position fundamentally opposed to the other in attempts to bring about their prospective “big picture” futures, but that comes with the added emotional baggage each carries from the events that have happened to them in their respective pasts.
The visual direction of the scene enforces this concept. Each one is seeing the other literally from a different angle and in a different light. Twice is on the ground prone in a room where the only exit is blocked while Hawks stands alert and at attention over him, obscuring the only source of light entering the room.
From Twice’s perspective Hawks’ face is obscured- the harsh light from behind casting a dark shadow across any features that would clue him into what Hawks is feeling - and he has to use the context clues he has available (posture, words, immediate events) through tears and adrenaline to interpret how to respond to Hawks. He’s been so suddenly thrust into this situation he literally and metaphorically can’t properly tell which way is up from where he lies. (Note how Hawks’ silhouette is sideways and looming over him in the same direction as Twice would be seeing from his place on the ground on page 13.)
From Hawks’ perspective Twice is knocked off balance and panicking like a cornered animal, completely unaware of the larger situation at hand and how they arrived here. When the perspective of the camera shifts and we can see his face again for the first time we get a completely different picture of what’s going on. Importantly, we can see in the change in perspective a closeup (usually used to highlight the key emotion) of Hawks’ face, complete with a somber and compassionate gaze that Twice is incapable of discerning right now.
Read this section through again twice. The first time use only the frame from Twice’s perspective and the second time read it with Hawks’. This is something I’m actually intrigued to see the anime handle because depending how deep the divergence in perspective goes, even the vocal performance may be different depending on the camera angle.
Twice sees a sociopathic, unempathetic monster who has used, abused, and thrown away his sincere offer of friendship to get what he wants and then has the audacity to try to convince him to play the fool again to get Twice to betray his friends for an easy way out. Hawks sees a person who feels betrayed and scared so Hawks is trying sincerely to explain to him what has been going on in order to be transparent because that’s the only way he can think to communicate the fact that he still values Twice, ending on the note that he believes that while Twice has crimes to answer for, he is still a good person who deserves to have a real shot at a happy life and that Hawks is personally invested in making that a reality if he’s willing to take the offer and trust him.
Hawks is operating as an enforcing tool of the law, but while he believes that law is set in place for general stability and safety it takes a human to human connection and cooperation to save someone to whom the law is blind. On page 16 when he says, “I don’t want to fight you, Bubaigawara!” he’s identifying with him not as the villain Twice, but as a person with an identity and will separate from the personae he’s crafted for himself over the years. Hawks would probably use his own real name to try to hammer this point home if there was a way to naturally do it. If Bubaigawara continues to resist and fight Hawks cannot make the case to others that he deserves a second chance.
The exact memory that comes to Hawks’ mind is Twice’s words, “Anyone who helps his friends can’t be all bad.” Hawks is trying to say in this scene, “I’m your friend! I’m trying to help you! I know you see me as the bad guy, but I want to be your hero so please let me save you the only way I know how! Please trust me!”
He needs the cooperation, but Twice resists and Hawks has no other choice but to operate as law enforcement for the sake of the greater good. Twice has chosen to be a “villain,” so Hawks has to be a “hero.” All those feathers were for Twice in the case Hawks needed them, and now Hawks has to subdue the Sad Man’s Parade alone as well as Dabi whom neither knows is on the way.
That’s the bad news, but the good news is that hope is not lost.
This is where I repeat my mantra of “we won’t know specific, individual fates until they happen." However, I think there are notable observations to keep in mind as we watch these final battles unfold.
Coming off of the discussion with Twice and Hawks, many including myself (and arguably even Twice) have gotten hung up on whether Hawks will choose to join the League eventually. Where we are now, I think it’s become a moot point almost not worth discussion anymore. If he does, we’ll see it soon; but Hawks seems to recognize that as long as the core complaints of the individual League members - and any of their sympathizers, for that matter - are not directly addressed, some other criminal force will come alongside and clash with them continuing the cycle of bloodshed and violence as influential leaders focus on gaining power until they are absorbed or achieve their end goal of complete anarchy and societal destruction. (Remember, he’s been following the League and their movements at least as far back as Kamino.) We saw it with the MLA, we saw it with the Shie Hassaikai, and even with Stain - along with the League of Villains, it began with a guerrilla group of revolutionists seeking to right a societal injustice; but if and when a separate opposing force of revolutionist outsiders cannot agree with them a battle ensues until one is subjugated and the strength of the loser is granted to the victor. Until the underlying issues are addressed, this cycle will only continue.
This is also to bring up the fact that the League of Villains is genuinely strong in terms of interpersonal loyalty but as an organization with foundational core values and a unified end goal has been fractured and shaky since the beginning. We saw those particular cracks most prominently just before the fight with Gigantomachia when lack of outer conflict began to highlight the inherent lack of unity in the LoV, only to be interrupted once again when some outside force stirred up a reason for them to work together for survival. Remember, all of the current members of the League of Villains were initially attracted and recruited because Shigaraki falsely appropriated Stain’s ideology. Dabi has stated he wants a world where heroes are obligated to their families first and that thinking of the misery he’s left the survivors of killed heroes “drives him crazy.” Toga wants a world where she has a network of unconditional support without feeling repressed. Twice wants a world in which he can trust others and be trusted and useful despite his bad luck and occasional mistakes. Spinner has clarified he needs a cause to believe in and fight for that supports outcasts like him, and Mr. Compress’s reasons for joining the League are simply to challenge the current status quo instead of mindlessly embracing it.
Shigaraki’s nihilistic dystopia of “burn everything to the ground” is not necessary to achieve any of these goals, and if enough confidence in alternative solutions and doubts in Shiguraki’s loyalty grows in the minds of each member of the League it could genuinely fall apart at the seams, though that isn’t to say that the League isn’t an incredibly tight knit and loyal group - quite the opposite, they’ve constantly shown to be willing to risk life and limb for each others’ sake - just that they’re more concerned with tearing down the current order than restructuring a cohesive new one. However, if the context around their unity has genuinely shifted to center around Shigaraki himself as a symbolic leader as it's been implied since the fight with Gigantomachia and the MLA, this will be clarified very quickly.
Even for most other villains we’ve encountered through the series this violence-first upheaval of society is not necessary to realize most of their goals. Gentle Criminal sought to shake up heroes’ apathy and overconfidence in their strength - La Brava following him closely because of her unwavering loyalty to him as a person - and even Stain was not opposed to the concept of heroes, just an institution of heroism that breeds greed and apathy instead of elevating the ideals of heroism.
There have been exceptions like the Shie Hassaikai (who sought a complete erasure of quirks from the human genome) and the initial ideology of the Meta Liberation Army (a world ruled by the strong with completely unimpeded use of quirks) that would have required an entire shift in society on a cultural, governmental, legislative, and economic level; but for most the heart of their issues with society is an issue of the heart - that is, a cultural shift is necessary first and foremost to alleviate the problems each of these criticisms address.
This drastic but necessary change has been difficult to achieve up until this point because most of the mouthpieces for these cultural criticisms are either not weighty enough to carry traction without the threat of violence or are held by those motivated by personal vengeance who are not guaranteed to sit and talk about peaceful options even if the opportunity was presented to them. The “outsiders” are so deeply ostracized in the current social and political climate that they can’t get a word in edgewise to those “inside” who go mostly unaffected by the shortcomings the outcasts are attempting to bring to light. This is where the series’ proposed solution enters the stage.

Hi! I'm new to your blog but found a few posts that were about a JayTom ship, and I was wondering who Tom was? And also you've mentioned in a couple of posts the idea of Jason having a lineup of Titans in his age range and you talked about the Ray and Damage in one. Do you have a whole lineup in mind for them and if so, is there a post on that somewhere?
LOL man, I really need to start pulling all my posts about JayTom and Jay’s lineup of Titans together for some kind of a masterlist, so thanks for the reminder haha. Like, I saw this ask and thought of various posts to point you towards but ugh, I don’t know where any of them are.
Anyway, so. The Tom of JayTom. Aka my ideal ship for Robin!Jason in the series of one-shots about an AU where Jason doesn’t go to Ethiopia in ADITF and thus never dies, that’s kinda grown out of that of a one-shot I started as a writing commission a couple months ago, if anyone else remembers that….the one that was like ‘what if Jason called Dick after the Garzonas incident and Dick sided with Jason’…that one.
Which then snowballed into ‘well, then I could give Jason his own lineup of Titans who are in the same age range as like a younger gen learning from Dick’s generations of Titans but still older than Tim’s generation of YJ and then eventual Titans.’
Sigh. Oh, me. Right! So! Anyway! Tom in JayTom is Thomas Bronson, the son of JSA member Ted Grant, aka Wildcat.
Tom and Jason have never ever interacted in canon as far as I know, as I don’t think Tom’s ever appeared outside of JSA and Jason never appeared in that book either before or after his death. BUT by the magic of winging it and Canon Has Not Definitively Contradicted Me, I think the two of them are feasibly in the same age range, so I’m going with them both being fifteen when they meet here.
Tom’s a scrappy, street smart, attitude throwing teenager with daddy issues of his own, lol, thanks to Ted’s general non-existence in his life, for most of it….and he’s also tiny, like, 5′6″ and 135 lbs even at the end of his teenage years. LMAO, I honestly don’t remember, but I think that might be the whole basis of this ship for me, or where it originated. Like, I happened across Tom’s stats as listed on one of the DC wiki sites, and was like, lol oh, he and Robin!Jason could be pint-sized punks together! And then from there, I had the inevitable thought “okay but now make them gay” and then from there I fell into my usual trap of “oh no, it was supposed to be a joke but now I’m taking it seriously and seriously pondering how it could seriously work.”
And then from there it consumed my brain and devoured my life. I swear, it was Dick/Kyle all over again. Ugh, my brain is so problematic.
So anyway, this is Tom:
He’s a werepanther, he can shapeshift into a panther form to fight, which brings up an interesting facet of his character and something I think could be really fun to play off Jason and his own issues…because Tom hates fighting. HATES it. Will run from a fight at any given opportunity rather than engage….but its not because he’s a coward, or doesn’t have heroic instincts of his own, and its not even because he’s not GOOD at fighting.
Its that he’s scared of himself, and scared of hurting whoever he’s fighting…at least more than he means to. Because he has trouble controlling his shift when in fights. His panther form just comes out in response to his own amped up levels of aggression. The fight or flight response for him is actually more like “flight or turn into a raging whirlwind of clawed and fanged fury that can’t stop won’t stop until he’s definitively won his fight….which by extension, usually means his opponent is currently bleeding out on the ground from a few dozen deep claw marks because Panther!Tom’s claws and fangs are SHARP.”
Now pair this fear of his own power with Tom’s natural belligerence and problems with authority at certain points in his life, AND his desire to follow in his hero father’s footsteps as well as his resentment and giving himself grief every time he realizes he even has that desire, because he doesn’t owe his deadbeat dad shit and can’t stand that he nevertheless admires him in a lot of ways and still feels a desire to prove himself to him…
Then pair him up with Jason during his Robin years, going through similar issues and emotions as well as a comparable dynamic with Bruce as him not dying in Ethiopia nevertheless changes nothing about the two of them likely clashing more and more over their views on how to deal with criminals and the appropriate levels of aggression when dealing with them….
And that right there, IMO, is super strong potential for a dynamic couple with a lot in common and yet occasional clashes of their own due to different opinions on which direction to go in so as to address those shared issues…but who likely would never hesitate for a second before backing each other up and presenting a united front against anyone else who tried to give one or the other shit for any reason whatsoever.
Also, I have vastly amused myself with the thought (and the occasional post here and there) of Ted and Bruce continually glowering at each other and blaming each other’s son for being a bad influence on their son, who has never done anything wrong in their life ever, CLEARLY (even if Bruce had actually just grounded Jason the day before. Whatever. Ted doesn’t need to know that).
Anyway, so that’s the JayTom I reference now and then. I’ve always maintained that Jason could really benefit from having a stronger support system of friends distinct to him and not sharing similar dynamics with any of his siblings, so then I was like, well if Jay doesn’t die, and I have him and Dick closer in this AU than they’re usually written as being, plausibly Jason would spend a lot of time at the Tower to get away from Bruce and his own fights with him.
With Dick being more than able to relate to trouble dealing with Bruce and thus happy to lend a sympathetic ear….and eventually maybe express to Bruce that it might do them both some good for Jason to make more friends his own age and have some normal routines that took him out of the house and Gotham enough that he and Bruce don’t constantly feel like they’re breathing down each other’s necks and keeping tension a constant thing between them. A little space now and then could benefit them both, give them chances to cool off after their fights and actually MISS each other before readdressing the issues.
So then I could see the Titans kinda sending out invitations/recruiting various teen heroes around Jason’s age that they’d all maybe had their eyes on for awhile as kids who could benefit from the same kind of team unity/group support that helped them so much when they were that age just a few years ago themselves.
Which leads me to where I am now which is….I still haven’t settled on a solid lineup, because I came up with too many choices, lol. Basically, my parameters were I wanted characters who could feasibly be said to be in the same age range as Jason and Tom, and didn’t have super strong associations with any other characters that would create any kind of conflict with them being on a Titans team at this point in the timeline instead. And because I’m all about my thematics, I wanted them all to have certain root issues in common that they could all bond over and actually, y’know, support each other with and through.
(The same way I think Dick’s generation of Titans actually has certain distinct themes and issues that almost all of them share and can relate to in varying ways, which I think has a lot to do with how quickly and fully they all bonded and why they created such lasting friendships and teams between them. But that’s a whole other post, lol.)
So the central shared issues I decided to focus on for Jason’s age group of Titans were: teen/young heroes from abusive homes or runaways, ones with issues and fears stemming from and regarding their own powers or tempers, etc, and misfits who were regarded warily by other or older heroes and considered potentially able to end up on either side of the hero/villain line in the sand.
Which Dick’s generation of Titans, which of course includes Raven, Kory, etc, would not be in agreement with that last part, and thus be all the more likely to recruit these specific teen heroes and be like nyah, nyah, watch how with our help and oh yeah, SUPPORT, they all become the best damn heroes that ever did heroically hero. Suck it, JLA-holes!
(And then Donna would be like, not you Diana, you know we’re cool, its just I gotta do the team solidarity thing and Dick, Garth and Roy are still being Displeased with their mentors/dads at the moment, and also we’re all kinda ticked you guys stole Wally. Btw, we’re stealing the new Green Lantern kid, because Revenge and stuff. He’s ours now, you snooze, you lose).
So, Jason’s lineup of Titans will consist of some of the following, I’m just not 100% sure which yet, because I have to whittle down the list.
1) Jason (nominally mentored by Dick, but the latter just calls it an excuse for brother bonding time and neither of them make much reference ever to having any kind of actual mentor/protégé relationship like I see the rest of Jay’s lineup having. Plus, Jason unique from the rest already has a mentor in Bruce anyway, so his situation and reasons for being part of this team aren’t quite the same from the others, especially as one of my reasons for this AU was always addressing the issues I have with Bruce’s parenting before the canon event point of Jason’s death, and like…..so like, Bruce does get better once Dick calls out some of his shit with Jason based on his own experiences with Bruce and then later Jason returns the favor by calling out Bruce for taking Dick for granted and no longer putting in the same effort connecting with his eldest and being an actual PARENT to him like he used to).
2) Tom Bronson/Tomcat (who else would act as his personal mentor other than Gar aka Beast Boy aka Changeling, the shapeshifter extraordinaire?)
3) Grant Emerson/Damage (recruited by Roy and his personal protégéand likely BFFs with Jason IMO, as I think their temperaments are complete opposites but Grant’s the kind of kid who would roll his eyes and dolefully follow his troublemaking best friend Jay into likely danger, because his power to blow things up really comes in handy with the kind of scrapes Jason gets himself into and this in turn is a really handy thing to point out in the aftermath of pulling Jason’s butt out of a scrape and then gloating but in the totally mature and “I’m much too nice to actually be gloating, you must be mistaken about what’s happening here” manner in which I see that going down. And in terms of the parameters I mentioned, Grant grew up bounced around abusive foster homes, is watched like a hawk by various groups and heroes because of the huge catastrophic potential of his powers, which he has his own fears about, and also he has no idea who his parents are either, and I imagine him and Jason going on a ‘find out who our real parents are roadtrip’ after graduation or something).
4) Ray Terrill/The Ray (potentially recruited by Kory and her personal protégé. He was briefly a member of Tim’s Young Justice team, but part of the reason he was never that close with the other members was he was a little bit older, just a couple years or so, but enough to put him squarely in Jason’s age range. Also comes from an abusive home, and spent the majority of his childhood living in complete darkness because his asshole uncle told him he had the same powers as his father which meant sunlight would be harmful to him and make him dangerous to be around. When in reality, like his dad, Ray’s powers are fueled by sunlight and he’s like a living solar battery, keeping him afraid to leave the dark was just meant to keep him passive and powerless. Even knowing his uncle lied now, Ray still has long had fears about his own powers, unable to totally shake the fears his uncle instilled in him).
5) Todd Rice/Obsidian (potentially recruited by Raven and her personal protégé. He and his twin sister Jenny-Lynn Hayden are probably a bit older than the rest of this team, but their ages aren’t definitively linked to any points in the DC timeline, so there’s no real conflict between handwaving them as aged down to be right around the same ages as the others. Todd and Jenny-Lynn are the twin children of original Green Lantern Alan Scott aka Sentinel, and the DC villainness Thorn. They grew up in separate foster homes though with Alan unaware of their existence for most of their childhoods. Todd’s childhood was notoriously rough, with him having several abusive foster parents. He’s canonically gay and mentally ill/neurodivergent, which several of his foster homes targeted him for. In addition, his shadow powers are tied to a dark dimension that’s said to prey on his mental state and led to occasional times where he’s been a villain briefly, and at all times his powers are regarded fearfully by most people and with him shunned and avoided because of them. All of which I think makes Raven an ideal mentor for him).
6) Jenny-Lynn Hayden/Jade (Todd’s twin sister, even though they didn’t grow up together for the most part. Honestly, she doesn’t share in a lot of the issues the rest of the team prospects do, and had a relatively good childhood before her powers developed and she found her brother and they started operating as heroes together. But upon learning who her brother and dad are, she’s always been committed to growing closer with them, so I think anywhere Todd goes in this AU, she’d definitely follow, and its not like the team can’t benefit from a heavy hitter like her, let alone more girls. Not totally sure who I picture as most mentoring her in specific, probably because I don’t see her as being recruited per se, so much as just going with Todd when recruited….but I’m thinking maybe Garth, actually. Garth has a lot of range and versatility with his powers and magic, which makes him ideal for mentoring someone who not only has the same powers as a Green Lantern, limited only by her imagination…..but who also might benefit from being mentored by someone who ISN’T a Green Lantern because she doesn’t share their traditional weaknesses and thus she’d be best off training with someone whose own techniques and instincts aren’t geared around weaknesses that are literally irrelevant to her powerset).
7) Courtney Mason/Anima (A metahuman runaway who was almost sacrificed by a cult before her powers kicked in….she’s also right in the same age range as Ray, Grant and Jason, and has briefly been a member of a couple Titans lineups but never for long and usually only for big event stories. But she fits the runaway/rough home environment parameter as well as fear of her own powers….she absorbs life energy from people and animals and can potentially kill them by draining too much. She also has a separate power that’s basically a connection to an other-dimensional spirit called the Animus that she can summon forth and unleash on her enemies. I’m thinking she’d make a good recruit/protégé for Jericho actually, for a number of reasons).
8) Cynthia Reynolds/Fantasia (? Maybe? Not sure yet. Not her actual codename, but her actual codename is a slur, so I’m def gonna make up a new one, I just haven’t 100% settled on what it is yet. Suck it, DC. She’s most known for being a member of Justice League Detroit along with Steel, Vibe and the Ray, but she’s the right age range to end up recruited to be a Titan here instead, like Ray. Also is a runaway from an abusive home, and often deals with mistrust and suspicion due to her illusion powers. Perfect recruit/protégé for Lilith, IMO).
9) Cisco Ramone/Vibe (Also created as a teenage hero to be part of the Justice League Detroit lineup, which makes him the right age range and he’s another runaway. The nature of his powers makes him a good fit to be a recruit/protégéof Mal Duncan/Herald).
10) Amy Allen/Bombshell (Totally self-indulgent on my part given that I basically would ignore the vast majority of her storylines and writing, which I think suck. She was in the Titans stories revolving around Tim’s generation of the team, but she was always stated to be a few years older than the rest, like in her late teens when the majority were probably sixteen, so I think she’s a good fit for this age range. Also had a crappy home life and parents, and her powers are hugely destructive in certain applications…she basically has the same powerset as Captain Atom, though she’s never had any kind of official mentor or sidekick relationship with him. Also, I think Captain Atom is an asshat and a dillhole and he sucks, but I do like his powers, so reinterpreting Amy as a character who doesn’t suck and playing around with her powers instead is solid decision making on my part and renders Captain Atom irrelevant now. I think I shall kill him. Because I can do that. Anyway, I think she doesn’t need him as a mentor but could make a good recruit/protégé for Leonid/Red Star).
11) Carla Moretti/Cinder (Odd choice, given that she’s only ever really been used as a villainous member of Deathstroke’s anti-Titans team and was easily in her twenties at the time. Pyrokinetic who happily makes bonfires out of her enemies but written with zero attempts at nuance, like a total one note villain framed as having long since abandoned her own humanity….which bugged the crap out of me, as she was given a super angsty backstory of childhood sexual abuse and that’s just ‘why she’s like this’ and I have a deep seeded loathing for asshole writers writing survivors as villains and just blaming their casual homicidal ways on their abuse while serving up said villains to just be punching bags or dominoes for the heroes to knock down on their way to the Boss Fight. So I do have inclinations towards making an actual Titan out of her, like with Amy, because surprise surprise, both these characters being written shittily and one note was the work of the same writer, shocking. So I’d just handwave her down to the right age range and have her recruited/mentored by Donna, probably…more due to me thinking Donna would be the best person to help her deal with stuff because she’s mastered the art of avoiding avoidance via having Dick Grayson as a BFF. So with them its not really because Carla needs mentoring with her powers specifically. Idk, Carla anyway you slice it I think has a lot of rage, and Donna knows what to do with that. Written right, Donna’s not a character who judges or shames a victim or survivor for being angry…she gets angry with them, and helps them find options for what to do with that now.)
12) Hero Cruz (Lesser known Titan, has a device called the Dial H device that lets him turn into a different hero with different powers depending on the setting he puts it on. Basically Ben 10, but Hero came first. Doesn’t really fit most of the parameters, other than being around the right age range, and not even sure who would make a good mentor for him though I wanna say Vic, but not totally decided yet. Mostly I just like him and think he’s underused, so whatever).
There’s also a few other candidates that I have mostly ruled out but not totally. I thought about using the aged up version of Chris Kent, and just introduce him earlier than he showed up in canon. And then Kara/Supergirl could be his mentor because I kinda handwave her into Dick’s generation of Titans anyway, even though it was the alien Matrix version of Linda Danvers that was the only Supergirl ever on the team. Whatever. She should have been a Titan all along anyway. But also Chris would fit the team well as he had an abusive childhood as well, at his dad General Zod’s hands, and again, I just like the character.
Thought of including Virgil Hawkins/Static too, even though I think he’s closer to Tim’s age range. And again, just another character I’m a fan of and think is underused, but he would definitely be an odd man out in this group because like….he comes from a happy, healthy, loving home and family, and he loves his powers. So he would constantly be just like nodding his head along while his teammates talk and like ugh that sucks, but 10/10 absolutely can not relate, my parents are awesome. Same with Natasha Irons/Steel, who really would have to be handwaved to even be in the right age range, and again has a happy loving home environment and a superhero uncle of her own so its not like she needs a Titan mentor…..but I kinda wanna see Karen Beecher/Bumblebee take her under her wing anyway, and have them be science nerds together.
Also pretty much the only reason I ruled out Connor Hawke too, as he doesn’t really match the rest of the team in any of the parameters except for feasibly being right at the upper edge of the same age range. But again, I just love the character.
So I’m probably gonna end up throwing at least one of these other characters in there anyway, lol. I do know myself).
Anyway. So that’s Jason’s lineup of Titans, or at least the candidates as they exist bouncing around in my head now. Also, they’re pretty much Team “Everyone is Gay Except For When They’re Bi.” Which, granted, is basically how I view Dick’s generation of Titans, but with them I have to be like Make It So, in my brain, whereas with this group like….canon’s actually done the work for me for the most part lol. Ray is gay, Todd Rice is gay, Courtney is bi, Hero is gay. And I can’t actually find anything confirmed Tom was stated to be gay somewhere in canon, but I SWEAR he was, like, ugh this is bugging me.
But anyway. That’s that about all of that.
