Prologue

I’ve always said that the world is a different place for the heartbroken. It moves on a different axis, at a different speed. Time skips backwards and forwards fleetingly. The heartbroken might go through thousands of micro-emotions a day trying to figure out how to get through it without picking up the phone to hear that old familiar voice. In the land of heartbreak, moments of strength, independence, and devil-may-care rebellion are intricately woven together with grief, paralyzing vulnerability and hopelessness. Imagining your future might always take you on a detour back to the past. And this is all to say, that this is my version of Red.

Musically and lyrically, Red resembled a heartbroken person. It was all over the place, a fractured mosaic of feelings that somehow all fit together in the end. Happy, free, confused, lonely, devastated, euphoric, wild, and tortured by memories past. Like trying on pieces of a new life, went into the studio and experimented with different sounds and collaborators. And I’m not sure if it was pouring my thoughts into this album, hearing thousands of your voices sing the lyrics back to me in passionate solidarity, or if it was simply time, but something was healed along the way.

Sometimes you need to talk it over (over and over and over) for it to ever really be… over. Like your friend who calls you in the middle of the night going on and on about their ex, I just couldn’t stop writing.

This will be the first time you hear all 30 songs that were meant to go on Red. And hey, one of them is even ten minutes long.

- Even though you could seem a bit tough at first, this guy would be head over heels from the start.

- He wouldn’t be swayed by comments or anything. If someone says anything bad about you, they’d get really mad. 

- He knows you can defend yourself, but he's ready to fight whoever is bothering!

- If a group of guys started giving you weird looks, he would step in before you even had a chance to react. "Is there a problem here?"

- He would also say something like "At least she’s not a basic, lame bitch." 

- I feel that, if you have dark humor, he wouldn’t get it. He doesn't find it rude or bad, he just wouldn’t understand it at all.

- If you're more on the sarcastic side, that's a whole different story! In that case, you're both the same and he adores it.

- You’d become friends with Nico and Thalia, and he’d get very, very jealous. He’d be fighting with them all the time for your attention. 

- No matter what you listen to, he would probably try to listen to more of it so you could share opinions and listen to it together. 

- He’d also have to know which songs, artists, or albums are your favorites to surprise you with CDs, records or gifts related to it. 

- Anytime he sees a belt with studs, leather jacket, flannel shirt, or dark bracelets, he’d think of you and would get you something.

- Oh! And millions of pins. Everywhere he goes he gets you a pin, and get ready to see him MAD if you don’t wear them.

- "You look like a rock star. Wait, does that makes me, like, your personal bodyguard?"

- He’d be completely obsessed with your makeup, hair, nails!! He’s obsessed with you, in general. He’d try to learn how to do your makeup, even if he sucks at it. 

- But you can be 100% sure he would end up learning to do his own eyeliner, and he’d love it. 

- And if you have any fantasy color in your hair, he would TOTALLY dye his gray streak that color match.

- "Look, we´re matching now!"

- If you have any tattoos, he’d be obsessed and would want to get one all the time. 

- And if you have any piercings –guess what! SAME!

- I feel like he’d play with your piercing (and i'm talking at any moment –while talking, while you're hanging out, etc.).

- He would be totally surprised if he walked into your room and saw a lot of posters!

- He’d be all over the place, and you’d have to give him a mini tour of your collection.

Liam, darling, I’ve been in a limbo since I got the news. Looking your name in Google because a friend texted me expecting to find some new rumour and finding a lot of news about you not being here. How are you not here when you’re on my phone, on gifs; when you’re on my ears singing to me; when you’re on my walls and on my shelves with lyrics and albums. How can I process this when I’m still seeing you the same way I’ve always seen you? How can I stop thinking that you’re taking some time for yourself or healing or getting help? How can I? Because it seems impossible. It seems like the news never stop hitting me, one way or another (no pun intended). I try (because I’ve not been able to yet) to listen a song and I think you’re not here. open instagram and someone has a reel with Story Of My Life playing and you’re not here. I open tumblr and I see a gif of you and you’re not here. I saw that your TikTok account is now a memorial and you’re not here. I see a photo of you and you’re not here. Every time. Because I can’t accept it, because I’m seeing you the same I’ve always seem you and my brain lack the capacity to understand that there’s a huge difference right now. I went to a memorial and I thought “Oh! This is going to give me a closure, this is it. I’ll say my goodbyes, I’ll see the photos, I’ll cry and I’ll be able to move on”. And I wasn’t even able of saying goodbye to you, I just stood there and saw your photos and thought “he’s still here?”. Not even in this moment. I’m saying goodbye to you now and my brain is still thinking that isn’t a goodbye but a “see you soon”. That you’ll post a story or a video or something and say “I need time to recover after the accident. I’m fine, thank you for your messages.” But you won’t because you’re not here. Physically. Because you are here. You are here and you will be here forever. Liam, darling, you deserved so much better. Talking to you in the past hurts like a bitch (sorry). But you deserved so much better. i guess i just need to talk it all out and try to make some sense of it. the GazettE are one of the most important bands in my life. they've brought me so many friends and so much happiness over the years. i was just 13 when i started listening to them and now i'm 27. they were such a huge part of my teenage years. they literally kept me going at some points of my life. their music saved my life.

i've always thought i'd get a chance to see them live one day - one of my biggest dreams was to experience flith in the beauty live at least once. and now i probably will never. and if i do, it won't be the same.

i can't believe reita is gone. just like that. he's gone. it feels like an old friend just passed away - someone i hadn't spoken to in years, but still thought of fondly. he was such a wonderful, talented human. i can't believe he's gone.

Okay so basically the United States MINT of all people is going to be working with DC to make a line of coins! These coins sadly won't be in circulation (the things I would do to live in a world where I could get Batman coins from the supermarket) as they're collectors coins, but will be releasing over the course of the next 3 years, 2025-2027.

Designs haven't been released yet (the same is true for all 2025 designs) but we know there will be 9 coins in total (3 each year) with the first year featuring (of course!!!) Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

Although we know the first three heroes to be featured, the remaining six have yet to be decided, and it turns out the Mint is putting out a survey on their site to gauge which of a group of culturally significant heroes people want to see most! (link to the form is mentioned in the article above)

The considered group includes: Supergirl, the Flash, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Captain Marvel, John Stewart GL, Aquaman, Hawkman, Jamie Reyes BB, Robin (Damian?), Cyborg, and Batgirl, of which 6 will be selected.

As someone who does a bit of coin collecting myself (mainly circulation coins like the quarters sets, but I also have a couple proof and collectors coins) I think this is a really cool and interesting idea that showcases the history of the comics medium and these characters and their influence on American culture. Really excited to wait and see what the designs look like for the coins already announced!
