okay I finished the fucking blanket, it’s huge. it’s gonna be so expensive to ship. 155oz of yarn, I can only compact it down to like 1.5′x1.5′x1′. (I have 5oz of yarn left over to make a mini one for jackie since she loved sleeping on it so much.) but we’ll be fine and it’s worth it. and I labeled all the socks with names of recipients (they were just labeled with shoe sizes) and sorted them and I can do as many as I want or as few as 3 pairs (in 2 colors) depending on how many I can fit on twine above one pot of dye and how much energy I have. I’ll be doing that tomorrow since arin’s covering a long shift and won’t be home to suffer the vinegar smell.
then I have one more pair of to-ship and a scrap tube to go with them (recipient isn’t sure if this alpaca yarn I’m using is safe for their wool allergy but would like to test it), and two pairs for arin, and I’d like a pair for me before I forget how to make them for 10 months. and I guess jackie’s scrap blanket will keep me occupied during phone calls for a week or two. and a batch of toffee if I can be assed, and packaging and addressing everything, and maybe christmas cards if I can convince myself it’s worth the energy. and then craftageddon will be over.
#christmas#actually I looked up package prices and usps is minimum $60#but I can get under $50 with ups#either way it'll be under $150 for total shipping which is like. pretty comfortably affordable now that arin is Employed#but also oof. woof. wowie. christmas got kinda overbudget this year but that may be inflation or whatever.#normally I shoot for $400-500 and once all is said and done it'll be like. $750.#although a lot of it was spread out and not all of it went on my credit card (neither of which is usually the case)#plus like. arin is employed.#I don't have to be quite as tight-fisted with my budgeting anymore.#even if it feels scary.#(that's obviously not including the price of the sock machine or any of that.)#(cuz if I include that in the price I'll feel Terrible and it was a well-reasoned investment.)#(I Would Not Be almost done now if I didn't have it.)

I am once again going down the rabbit hole of trying to figure out the ages of the Gallifrey characters
#idk why my brain gets so caught up on this but it does#I’m also talking like start of gallifrey because I’m not getting into all that for them now#what bothers me the most is that we’ve got basically nothing on Narvin#I can’t remember for sure but I don’t even think we know what regeneration he’s on#I don’t think it would be hard to assume his first but also it could not be#like for brax we know he’s older than the doctor so that puts him at at least 1000#and romana is around 600 years younger than the doctor so she’d be around 400#and then I’m going with 50 ish for leela because we don’t know her actual age so I’m using Louise jamesons age plus the time she spent#married to andred#also with romana that’s assuming that her and the doctor experienced the same amount of time in between them traveling together and the#start of gallifrey#I guess that could also count for brax too but whatever#for narvin what we’ve got is that he was above the rank of a junior agent under vansell during the time of the fourth doctor#(at least probably)#so we can make the assumption that he wasn’t fresh out of the academy/cia training#which makes me inclined to say that he’s older than romana#but that’s really all I’ve got on him#doctor who#gallifrey#romana#irving braxiatel#narvin#leela#clearly this is a subject I am normal about#if anyone else makes it this far in my rant and has any insights I’d love to hear them

so does anyone have any info on the dao official guide collector's edition with the whole extra 70 pages of lore? because there are occasional references to it on the wiki with some lore that isnt anywhere else and i cant Not Know Things yknow..

#something about more happy memories than bad ones....OUGH#this was originally about just elves bc i knew they were the longest but gnomes and dwarves also live long upon looking it up#most of my tavs are young and that seems to be the case in general#so like they could have centuries left with him... elves especially and drow can get up to 1000 years old...#i think druids tend to have longer lifespans too idr where i saw that but it was when i was figuring stuff out for kaya's backstory#zara's def under 100 maybe like 50-60 so they have so much time together... like 4x the amount of time he was trapped for...#lilith is older but still young somewhere in mid-late 100s leaning later so like 3x the amount#im clawing paint off the walls and shredding the drywall#.txt

45,000 words done!!!
#rant#mejo writing#also! 24000 words i need to write!#i might get lucky and itll only be 12000 but. im betting on 4000 word chapters#36000 more words if i cant shut the fuck up#but yeah all chapters planned and just put the chapter outlines individually so i can flesh them out now. and im slated for 6 more chapters#24 chapters total#and it strikes me how my last long story finished (fanfic mind u) was 32 chapters plus epilogue#and i wonder if my mind just tends to tell stories in 20-30 story chunks#im proud of how concise ive been tho! this novel draft is 45k now and gonna be either 69k when done. or 57k or (worst case) 81k#which is Great tbh. cause i was aiming for 50k (which i failed) figured itd be 60-90k (which it is turning out to) and i#was DESPERATE to keep it under 100k. i wanted it to be a less daunting number of pages#and the story has like 3 planned future books so. i was hoping i could keep each individual one 50-100k#for the sake of me ToT
