Hope everyone’s holiday festivities went well 🤙 My girlfriend and I are doing well. We spent Christmas and New Years with our respective families. We exchanged gifts on the 24th! I got her a personalized engraved Jenga which she loved (she teared up) and some other stuff too. She gifted me Christen’s ACFC Sol jersey and some things that will stay between her and I (lol) AND she gifted me Christen’s body issue magazine 🤣 (which led to a conversation about the etiquette of regifting) I loved it and now have it on my desk.

I came out to my parents on the 27th and it was one of the most difficult things I’ve done in my life up to now. l won’t bore you with all the details because I know it can be triggering to some. I’ll just say that there were lots of tears and sobbing (from me). Getting the words out was so hard because it felt like I had a tumbleweed stuck in my throat. My mom cried and told me she loved me unconditionally. My dad (never been super close) teared up and said he was thankful for me sharing that part of me with them. (I’m tearing up while writing this lol) I told them I was in a relationship with someone but it’d be a bit before they’d meet (something my gf and I discussed beforehand). I can’t begin to express how grateful I am to all of you for the advice and courage you gave me when I shared I’d be coming out to my parents 🫶

It feels surreal to be falling into strong liking 😉 with my girlfriend and have this weight off my chest from my parents not knowing. I hope you all had a great holiday season and wish you the best in 2025!

I am not really an avid Purchaser of Objects but periodically I like to take stock of things I’ve bought that turned out to be excellent quality or worth investing in. here are my favorites:

thousandfell’s women’s lace-up sneakers. vegan leather and insanely comfy. took them as my only pair of shoes on a very walking-intensive trip to japan and south korea and ended up exclaiming aloud many times “god I can’t believe how comfy these are!!” they’ve lasted two full years of heavy wear and are still going strong.

the LL bean women’s mountain classic anorak. this is the only jacket I have ever needed in the PNW. it’s insanely lightweight so it’s perfect for brisk but not too cold days (and also amazing for travel as it folds down so small), BUT it’s also roomy enough that you can layer a sweatshirt under it and comfortably wear it outside in temps as low as 35 degrees. it also has SO MANY HUGE POCKETS which means I can carry everything I need for the dogs and the baby in just my jacket lol. I own it in two colors and wear it every single day.

able’s mamuye leather tote. I believe this was a rec from sasha? I had been searching high and low for a bag that looked professional for work but was still casual enough to use as an everyday or travel tote too. I wanted something simple, durable, and high quality enough that I could use it for a really long time. I splurged for the kind with a zipper and it was worth it! the one change is I wish it came with an organizer or had a bit more built-in structure. I got a cheap one off amazon which works fine and gives it a nice shape, but idk I might eventually buy the one they sell specifically for this bag. I love this bag so much that every time I see it I gasp inwardly at how beautiful it is and how fancy yet low-maintenance it looks. I think your favorite objects should be so beautiful to you they make your heart happy when you see them and this bag definitely qualifies.

karina dresses. the prints can be hit or miss and sell out pretty fast so you have to jump on the new collection releases when they email you. but almost every work dress I own is from this company and I love them so much. they’re super well made, flattering, and cut in a way that makes them very forgiving if your body (like mine) tends to fluctuate up and down in weight a lot. they are so forgiving that I didn’t have to buy any new maternity clothes for work—I just wore these through my whole pregnancy. the one thing that might not work for everyone: they’re made from a synthetic fabric, which means they never wrinkle and hang-dry very quickly, but also idk I do prefer the feel of cotton or linen or another more breathable natural fiber.

speaking of natural fibers: I also purchased a few skirts and a dress from pact (organic cotton basics) and I really like them so far but don’t yet know how they’ll hold up over time! so they get an honorary mention for now.

the thomasville tisdale sectional. this is the greatest couch ever made. I evangelize for it every opportunity I get. it’s so comfy and so gigantic. you can rearrange the modular pieces to form a very comfortable queen-sized bed if you don’t have a spare room or if you just want to have a really cozy movie night. I’ve had it for three years and it gets a lot of wear and tear with the dogs but it still looks and feels SO nice. plus it’s costco and their insane return policy means that if it falls apart in five years (it won’t) I could almost certainly still take it back and get a full refund. best! giant! couch! ever!!!!

ok that’s it lol everything else I own apart from art and quirky sentimental objects is kinda junk, or is just Fine but not worth writing home about. do you own high quality objects or clothing that you love recommending to other people? if so I want to hear about it.

A late happy new year!! I am just getting caught up on stuff this week, and I realise I didn't review my goals from last year! I find it so funny in hindsight I called these goals "modest" lmao, this is waaaaaaay too much so it's no wonder I didn't get all of it done!

I did complete Strangeswap, which is something I'd been wanting to finish for many years! I was really pleased to finally get that out, and I was super proud of how it all came together.

I did also finish season 1 of Spruceburg, and I even put out a season 2, as well! I am really proud of what I acomplished but I do think, in hindsight, I did more YouTube than I should have and burned out a little. I was very excited and inspired by the new format and new audience, but ultimately I enjoy writing prose & dialouge and you just dont get that in the same way with Youtube! So I want to make sure this year I am balancing it with doing stuff here on tumblr (and my website), too.

Of course, I did not finish season 13 of Hollyhead :( as I mentioned previously, I am thinking of switching up the format of that neighbourhood and documenting it in less detail. I've also considered retiring it, but if I go that route I'd like to do it with a bang!

I didn't manage finishing the Veronaville round of Pleasantview plus, either, but I'm halfway through and think I have a good plan/play order figured out for the second half.

As for Belladonna Cove and the Fieros, I ended up retiring both those projects. Ultimately while I'd still like to do both someday and both still interest me, I realised I needed to cut down the number of projects I was doing and make some sacrifices. Not having them hanigng over me has definitely been a weight lifted off my shoulders.

So, uh, I guess that's 2/6!! Not the best, but I think there's a lot of be said for re-examining your goals if they aren't the right ones. I set out last year with waaaaaaaay too many goals, and ended up not enjoying a lot of them and found myself more drawn to new projects. I think that's been a good thing in the long run :) here's to another great year of simming in 2025!

Finish "Season 1" of Spruceburg over on Youtube. I haven't 100% decided how long I want this to be, but I'd like to reach a point where a break (or a conclusion) makes sense rather than playing it indefinitely.

Catch up with my backlog of uberhood posts. It'd be great to finish the Veronaville round! Again, I might have to drop some of the overly-grandioise story ideas I have if I want to get this done, haha. I always get an idea in mind then procrastinate for months because I don't know how to write/shoot it. No more of that crap! This year we are enjoying the game for what it is without stressing over "storytelling"!!!!

Play the Fieros up to gen 3 entering college.

Continue working on Belladonna Cove. I have no idea if finishing it this year is particularly realistic, but it'd be great to at least finish a district? Or maybe finish making over all the apartments?

There are other projects I'd like to do too, like Kingfisher Canyon, Honeycoast, my website, other neighbourhood renovations, more Youtube stuff... but I think this is probably enough for now, haha. I'd really like to prioritise sims this year, I miss being more active in the community :')

oxventurers guild | the hobby horses

unlike my other designs where i let everyone have individual colors/palettes, i tried to keep colors more consistent across these designs! the oxventurers guild has the fantasy element and theyre all very different, so the wide mishmash of colors are fine, and the hobby horses all have a lot of dark colors so that keeps them looking consistent together. but for these guys, i wanted a more consistent feel, so i tried my best to reuse colors between each design (especially between delacy and nate ^-^)

silas - ough. my boy. i wanted him to be broad with a strong build, and i hope i pulled that off :D i had so much trouble with his hat that i almost just didnt give him one, but eventually i decided it was better to just. give up and rock with it, even if he looks a bit like a mountie hbjgfjhd and he is wearing cowboy boots, theyre just tucked into his pants because he doesnt feel the need to flash them (looking at delacy, lol). he has spurs on his boots, even though he doesnt ride horses, because he likes the way they jangle <3

garnet - people really liked it when i gave garnet dark roots, so i have decided to always give her dark roots. i like how it looks hehehe and i also like to give her freckles!!! i think theyre cute!!! for the vest, i struggled for a while trying to capture the vibe of jane's vest, because its so so strange and specific in a way that makes it impossible for me to picture garnet without it. i'm pretty happy with where i landed with it, especially the pattern, since i've never tried to make a pattern like that before :3 i dont know why ive been loving patterns so much lately LOL but i will keep riding this wave and regret it later when drawing the designs again

edie - definitely the furthest departure from canon outfits, though still in the right wheelhouse. i just don't like drawing multiple layers of ruffled skirt. i didn't like how my sketches kept looking. i wanted to give her a skirt slit, especially after my friend reminded me about her thigh rifle holster. so today, i stared at a bunch of victorian ballgowns and party city costumes, and then completely redesigned her skirt before i lined these XD and i think it was worth it!! i love the layers and the way her rifle peeks out, and it meant i could show off more of her boots and give them a pretty design :]

delacy - my main thought going into drawing delacy was just. "i need to malnourish this boy" LMAO i refuse to believe that he is eating properly, i just know that he is not. otherwise, i mostly just stuck to the campaign art but scuffed up his clothes a bit. as implied on silas's notes, i very purposefully had his boots be Big. he's overcompensating a little bit :] also sorry i did not want to draw rooster so he just gets a generic handgun. i didnt feel like drawing complicated guns, and i wanted it to be a smaller handgun so that he could be poorly copying edie :') he has no trigger discipline but neither does edie so its fine

nate - that's just nate, baby!!! i think, canonically, he's meant to be a bit. emaciated. but i cant help but just picture him being a bigger guy, i think it fits his vibe better and its more fun for me to draw that way. i like having variety in body shapes, and garnet and delacy already have the rail thin thing down for this line-up. let my old man be fat !!! also. he has a weird nipple because he is transgender. heart emoji

it is beyond infuriating how anne rice seems to insist on marius being a positive force in anyone's life ever. like she can't fully commit to exploring the fact he groomed armand and has repeatedly taken away his consent for what marius thinks is best (take the end of TVA as an example) and just kind of flatly puts it in the narrative. there's not really much interest in how these horrific events make marius come across as the worst because EVERYONE loves him. for gods sake, lestat learns from armand exactly what marius did to him in TVL and then proceeds to go find marius and be super friendly to him in the same fucking book. even armand and pandora, two of the people who have MORE than enough right to hate him, do not. it doesnt feel like shes trying to explore the toxicity of the abusive dynamic he traps them in, it just is there. and like yeah ofc the toxic vampire romance series but i think that this should be handled with more care. and it is not ever really framed in a way that she is interested in exploring how marius should easily be one of the most horrific characters in this series because it kind of feels like sa/rape/grooming/other things of that sort are just put there to further plot and not to really get the respect that they deserve in a medium.
