the foxes roles in the gc

Neil:

Replies when necessary or if he is in a good mood.

It's always short replies.

If it's an ongoing conversation he'll say one thing and then leave.

It usually goes something like this:

"Oh! Neil's active, hi Neil!"

"Hi, I agree with Renee."

...

"Wait, did he leave already?"

Andrew:

You probably guessed this already but he never answers.

Even if the question is directed at him he won't say anything.

Occasionally you may get a yes or no.

Or he'll like the message but that's it.

The poor foxes will always get their hopes up when his little texting bubbles show up.

But he literally just key smashes to make them think he's going to say something.

Asshole, yeah we know.

Neil finds it funny so Andrew keeps doing it.

Kevin:

Kevin won't engage in "meaningless" conversation.

If the messaging is about exy, he'll always be one of the first to answer.

But as soon as it turns to something else he's gone.

Unless it's to correct someone's spelling mistakes.

He never fails to do that.

He's constantly messaging the foxes reminders and updates and their schedules.

He texts very professionally though.

Like it's an email.

He doesn't abbreviate or anything.

Grandpa Kevin

"Good morning, a reminder to be at the gym in 10 minutes dressed and ready. Neil, if you forget your water bottle again you're running ten extra laps."

"We have a game in two days, night practice at approximately 10 p.m."

Aaron:

Aaron is worse than Andrew.

He will answer questions directed at him but only if they are very very recent and he happens to be on the group chat.

Nicky:

Nicky is singlehandedly keeping the group chate alive.

He's that one person in the group chat who's constantly sending TikToks, Instagram posts, recipes, people he finds hot, Pinterest inspo boards, etc.

He's steering the conversations.

He's starting them back up when it starts to die.

He's sending cat memes 24/7.

He's ranting at 3 in the morning when no one is active.

He's giving everyone a play by play update on his day.

He's doing it all.

And we love him for that.

The others may complain about it, but they actually enjoy it.

And they know it makes Nicky happy to have people listening to him, especially when those people are his friends.

Plus, he just really loves texting and the internet.

Matt:

All the upperclassmen are active in the gc, including Matt.

I mean, it was his and Dan's idea, so they kinda have to be.

Matt types like this:

Y do u h8 me, Kev?

"Maybe, it's because you type like you are incapable of spelling out 'you'."

He's also the local meme provider.

Any kind of meme you want, Matt probably has it saved in his camera roll.

LOTS of exy memes.

He saves those for when Neil or Kevin haven't been saying anything for a few days.

Sometimes he'll get scared to send one.

So, he runs it by Dan first.

She always tells him to send them.

He's very good at finding funny and fitting posts.

Dan:

Dan is probably the most active on the gc, other than maybe Nicky.

But the foxes tend to answer her more.

No offense to Nicky...

Her captain-y privelge transfers to text too ig.

Dan will send the gc good morning texts, reminders(ones Kevin forgets about or isn't to be bothered with), articles about the foxes, workout videos, etc.

She loves sending compilations to the group chat.

Like:

"10 Times Neil Josten Flips Off teammate, Kevin Day."

"Or Matt Boyd and Dan Wilds Cutest on Court Kisses."

"Dan didn't you mean to just send that to Matt."

"NO! I thought you all would like it!"

She also sends them not so fun things.

If a bit of bad press is released she is the first to know and immediately sends it to the gc.

Also things like:

"Traffic on the way 2 court is bad, leave early."

"Crazy man on the corner by the parking lot, be careful!"

Dan is the group chat mom and we love that for her.

Allison:

Allison will not start conversations but she is always a part of them.

LOVES to start drama in the group chat.

and talk about gossip.

"did you guys see what neil was wearing today?wtf*puke emoji*"

"Allison, I can see this."

"good, maybe you'll listen to me then.*kissy emoji*"

She likes to text just in emojis sometimes.

Lots of kissing emojis.

And middle finger ones.

She also sends selfies when she feels like it.

Or when she likes her outfit.

"Allison we don't want to see your slutty outfit."

"stfu nicky, ur just jealous.*middle finger and kissy emoji*"

She doesn't type in uppercase.

Kevin is appalled.

Overall, she's a pretty standard group chat member.

But add some *richness*

Renee:

Renee does her best to stay active on the chat.

exy and non exy related conversations.

She tries to answer every one, like the sweetheart she is.

She likes to send cute things.

and motivational things.

or aesthetic pictures.

"I thought you guys would like this picture of a baby goat, have a good day!"

She tries to send good morning messages every day.

sometimes she does, sometimes she doesn't.

She tries, that's what matters.

A lot of the time the conversations are just her and Nicky.

Like in real life, she is usually the mediator when things get heated or bad.

"Allison, was the emoji really necessary?"

"reneeeee, babe, we are supposed to be on the same team!"

If she knows someone has a test or something important coming up she'll message them "good luck" on the gc.

Mainly so the others will do the same.

"Good luck on your test, Aaron!"

"Oh, yeah! You got it, man!" (Matt)

"If you pass, we can skip half our laps:)" (Dan)

"No, we will not."(Kevin)

"Literally, no one asked you Kevin."(Andrew)

"Whoa! Andrew said something!*excited squealing*" (Nicky)

*Andrew Minyard has left the group chat*

*Renee Walker has added Andrew Minyard to the group chat*

Wymack:

Matt added Wymack as a joke.

As soon as Wymack saw what it was, he left.

Nicky had the nerve to add him back though.

"Add me to this shit show one more time and I'm signing you all up for five marathons."

*sends an article about all upcoming marathons*

*Matt Boyd has kicked David Wymack out of chat*

Warnings: Physical and mental abuse!!!

A/N: i tried to make this as realistic and angsty as possible, but ive never been abused thankfully and i only vaguely remember what happened between my parents so sorry if its not as realistic as you’d hoped!!

“I tripped over the curb of the sidewalk.”

“I was trying to slide down the stairs in a cardboard box and it did not go so well.”

“I slipped in the shower.”

She always had an excuse for what he did to her. Her love for him was stronger than the pain and hate deep inside. Love always wins, right? At least that’s what she told herself. It’s not like she had a new injury every day, but every few weeks she would cry in the shower as she thought of some clumsy thing that could realistically cause the bruises. Her friends always called her the clumsy one. She would pretend to trip in the background while they were filming just to make her story more believable. Little did they know that she couldn’t cover up what was about to happen.

“You fucking bitch.” He screamed at her as soon as he walked in the door. She felt the tears already starting to form as she ran through all the things she could’ve done wrong. She hated disappointing him and making him mad. He walked into the kitchen of their apartment and opened up the fridge for a beer. “I told you to stop hanging out with them.” He slammed the fridge door and twisted off the top to his Corona.

“They’re my friends.” She defended herself, immediately regretting the words as they left her mouth. He walked towards her, causing her to wince.

“First I see you at a party without me in one of their videos, and now you’re talking back to me?” He hollered. She backed up as far as she could into the corner of the couch. Her ears were ringing as he continued to raise his voice. He went on and on before a tear slipped her eye. “Oh, now you’re crying. The little pussy is fucking crying. Yeah, I picked a real good one, didn’t I?” He watched her stand up and walk towards the bathroom before digging his fingers into her arm.

“Where are you going?” He pulled her towards him.

“To the bathroom.” Her voice was mousy and she was shaking as she answered him.

“I’m not done fucking talking to you!” He threw her to the ground with a thud. She let out a small whimper as he climbed on top of her. “You deserve this.” He punched her cheek with a hard fist. “You’re probably cheating on me with one of your ‘friends’ right?” His fist popped her jaw. “You fucking that David guy?” His left hand hit her other cheek. “Or is it Jeff?” His knuckles hit her right eye. “This is for those wimpy fucking tears.” He punched her eye again, immediately causing it to swell.

She was knocked out by the second punch, and didn’t wake up until he was already gone the next morning. Her body struggled to leave the floor, but she eventually made it into the bathroom. Her face was throbbing, and her eye was swollen shut. Her one working eye slowly opened and looked into the mirror. She was horrified. Her face was purple and blue. The left side of her face had a swollen cheek and jawline, and her right eye was almost the size of an orange.

She cried for hours.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” She muttered to herself over and over as she attempted to cover her face with makeup. It didn’t work. The water in the shower stung her face as she cleaned her body. She sat on the edge of her bed for a while as she thought over her relationship. It was all her fault. She should’ve told him about the party. She should’ve never talked back. She was wrong, and he was right. That’s always how it is.

The ringtone of her long abandoned phone scared her. She found it in between the couch cushions, and noticed all the texts and calls from her friends. They loved her, but he loved her more, right? Her phone rang again. It was Zane.

“Hello?” She squeaked out.

“Hey baby, how are you?” She could practically hear his smile through the phone. She cleared her throat.

“Hey Zane, I’m not the best. I walked into a pole, so my face is pretty messed up.” She chuckled, the excuse leaving her lips almost automatically.

“Y/n, how are you so clumsy? Send me a picture! Also come hang out with us, David needs more people for a bit anyways.” Zane proposed. Her heart raced. She couldn’t let him see her like this.

“I don’t know, I messed myself up pretty bad, so I don’t really want anyone to see me, it’s kinda embarrassing.” She giggled at the end and realized she was still only wrapped in a towel. She dug through her closet for clothes to wear.

“It can’t be that bad, pleaseeeeeee come over? We miss you!” He begged. She convinced herself that her excuse would work and agreed to go hang out.

A hat and sunglasses adorned her face as she speed-walked through the garage of her building. She repeated her excuse over and over during the car ride to David’s as if she was afraid she would forget it and mention what really happened to her.

“Hey.” She muttered and closed the door behind her.

“Hey, y/n!” Natalie smiled at her.

“Where have you been?” Erin asked.

“What’s with the hat?” Todd asked. Everyone’s attention was on her and she hated it.

“I, uh, I walked into a pole. I’m surprised Zane didn’t tell you about it, it was pretty funny.” She attempted to spin the attention onto Zane, but everyone was still staring at her.

“Let us see.” David said softly, putting his camera down.

They wouldn’t leave her alone. She felt her anxiety course through her body. After minutes of begging, she realized she couldn’t just not show them her face, and slowly lifted her head.

Her hat was removed and she slowly took off her sunglasses, looking at her beloved friends through one eye.

“Oooh.”

“What the fuck?”

“A pole did that?”

She stuttered and stammered and repeated the whole ‘I ran into a pole’ thing.

“How did you run into a pole with both sides of your face?” Jeff questioned, and everyone else started to wonder too. Y/n felt any tears she had left queue up behind her eyes. She was ready to explode.

The group started to register what was really going on and chased after her as she ran back outside.

“David, close the gate!” Natalie screamed at him. He grabbed the clicker and hit the button, hoping he did it fast enough.

Y/n attempted to back out of his driveway, but couldn’t slip through the gate quick enough. She broke down. Put the car in park and just cried. They banged on her windows, begging her to let at least one of them in. They whispered to themselves about the situation as they waited for her to come around.

“Y/n, we love you, and we just want to know what’s going on!” Mariah spoke loud enough for her to hear it through the window. She opened her one eye and looked at the group surrounding her. Her heart was torn in two, conflicted about weather or not to choose her friends or her boyfriend.

She looked at her phone.

Where’s your car?

Why aren’t you home?

Where the fuck are you????

Get your ass back here right now.

His texts made her cry even more. Her friends were right and she couldn’t take it anymore. Her window rolled down slowly.

“Can I just talk to the girls for a while?” She sheepishly asked the group. Everyone nodded and she finally got out of the car. The girls huddled around her and brought her back inside into Natalie’s room.

She looked down at her lap as she explained everything. The yelling, the mistakes, the abuse. All of it. When she looked back up all the girls had tears rolling down their faces. She looked around at all the girls that had her back. Mariah, Natalie, Carly, and Erin. Plus all of the boys and other friends that weren’t there. A huge wave of relief left her shoulders as she hugged the group.

“We’re gonna make sure he gets what he deserves.” Carly told her.

“Yeah, and you can stay here if your apartment is too scary.” Natalie added. “We can treat every night like a cute little sleepover!” She attempted to brighten the mood. Y/n smiled genuinely for the first time in a long time.

Erin explained what happened to the boys and they all ran into Natalie’s room. Y/n winced out of instinct, but relaxed into the tight hug of all the boys.

“Thank you guys for caring about me.” She smiled to all of her friends.

“Thank you fo-” David started, but was interrupted by a knock on the door.

“Where’s y/n?” Her boyfriend peered past David, searching for her in the house.

“How’d you get in here, the gate’s closed?” He asked, somewhat intimidated by the man.

“I know she’s here. I saw her location.” He ignored David’s question.

“She’s not, you need to leave.” David asserted, but the man wasn’t in the mood to take orders.

“Y/n!” He screamed, pushing past David and into the house. All of her old thoughts came rushing back as soon has she heard his voice. She started for the door, but Zane pulled her back.

“No, he’s not good for you.” He whispered to her as Jeff, Todd, and Scott went out into the hallway. Natalie shut and locked the door, not wanting the man to get near y/n.

Should I call the police?

Nat texted David, wondering if the boys could handle him.

Yes. Now.

He replied and she immediately dialed 911.

“I have the right to see my girlfriend!” He screamed as the boys kept pushing him back into the living room. David turned on his camera and placed it on the table, knowing it would be good for evidence.

“You don’t have the right to beat her up! Now, get the fuck out of here!” Todd screamed back. The man threw the first punch, hitting Todd in the nose. Jeff punched the man in return, but he was stronger than Jeff and landed one to his jaw. All three of the guys put their weight on the man, pinning him to the ground.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?!” Jeff asked him, mad that he even had the audacity to come get y/n.

“Our relationship has nothing to do with you, now let me the fuck go, you meathead!” He spit at the boys and struggled under their weight. Y/n cried into Zane’s chest as all of the girls listened to the yelling and thuds of bodies hitting the floor.

“It’s not a fucking relationship, it’s abuse.” David added in from across the room.

“Oh, yeah, why don’t you get over here, pretty boy? I can take you!” He screamed from the floor.

David texted Natalie again, asking the status of the police.

Almost here, make sure the gate is open

He opened the gate and walked outside. The police showed up and he led them inside to the pile of men on the floor.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief as they watched him get in the squad car. Police received statements from everyone and took a USB of the footage from David’s camera. Y/n spent an hour telling them everything he did to her, before everyone took a group trip to the hospital. Todd’s nose was broken, but everyone else was fine. Y/n got treated for her wounds from the previous night. She spent the next month at David’s house, too scared to sleep alone in her apartment. David posted a ten minute video about the signs of abuse in a friend, and used his platform to raise awareness on domestic abuse. Y/n was astounded by the overwhelming support of her friends, and was happier than she’d ever been before.

The crooked man spent a very long time in jail.

David has been one of my best friends for as long as I can remember. I grew up in Vernon Hills with him, Natalie, and Ilya. David has always been a really weird kid in many ways but lately he’s been a lot different around me. He keeps on making excuses for me to stay over longer whether it’s, “The video won’t look right, I need you to be in it.” Or “I can drive you home I just need to finish editing the next 6 hours of footage.” Which I don’t mind necessarily, it’s just not like him. He invited me to his house for the 100th day in a row.

“DAAAAVIIID?! I’m HERE! WHERE ARE YOU, CRACKHEAD?!” He bolts from around the corner as i’m taking me shoes off. He comes to hug me. I let out a groan as it feels more like a bear hug then a regular hug. “H-Hi, David.” I say letting out a laugh. “You act as if I haven’t been seeing you everyday for the last 2 months.” I say looking at his goofy smile ridden face. He immediately gets all flustered and awkward.

“I mean, I j- I just like seeing you, you know?” He says letting out a sigh and placing his hands on his hips. Everyone that was sitting in the living room yells their hellos to me as I walk closer to them. David follows close behind. I sit down right next to Zane and David sits in the love sac with Heath.

“So what’s going on? What have I missed?” I say taking off my jean jacket to reveal my cute red tank top. I will admit, it does reveal a little bit of cleveage if I wear the right bra with it. With any other bra it looks weird and lumpy. I knew none of these guys would really care since none of them think of me that way...I think. David looks up at me and starts choking on his chewing gum. He throws his laptop and gets up to cough. I get up immediately trying to help him. “Oh my god, you clutz! Are you alright?!” I say laughing as he finally caught his breath. He looks at me and nods his head quickly. I pat his back. “Go get some water or something.” I say to him, he nods in agreement and lowly chuckles as he walk to the kitchen. I sit down and the rest of the group is silently laughing. “What’s so funny?” I say with a confused smile on my face.

“Oh nothing, he just really likes the color red.” Jason said to me and laughing again. I sit back into the couch with pure confusion riddled on my face.

Davids POV

I cannot believe I just embarrassed myself so badly in front of the girl of my literal dreams. I get a glass and fill it up. I sit on the counter and see that Jason gets up to talk to me. He gets close and starts silently chuckling. I roll my eyes knowing very well what this talk will be about. Everyone in the group knows that I am hopelessly in love with Y/N, who is desperately out of my league.

“Slick. Very slick.” Jason says crossing his arms. I get down off the counter.

“How the hell was I supposed to know that the hottest girl on planet Earth was gonna walk in looking like one of charlie’s angels?!” I whisper yell in his face.

“You really are whipped...you have to tell her. Every day she gets more and more suspicious about your behavior and I don’t think Zane or Todd can keep it hidden much longer.” Jason says to me in a low whisper.

“No. Absolutely not. Girls like THAT!” I point at her. “Don’t want guys like THIS.” I say pointing both fingers at my chest. “She is so out of my league. There is no way that girl would ever like me. Hell, she’d probably laugh in my face if I told her that. I’ll save myself the gut wrenching embarrassment for now. But thanks.” I said whisper yelling every word.

“Look. You have NO IDEA if she likes you or not. Hell, she could be just as whipped as you are. But the worst thing you can do for yourself is never try and see what it could be. You could be missing out on the opportunity of a lifetime and you are worried about if she reciprocates it?! Shoot your shot, kid!” He says patting my shoulder. I look over at her and she’s smiling and laughing with the other girls in the group. Jason’s right. I at least need to try.

I take a deep breath and walk over there. I curve around the couch and she immediately looks at me and smiles the most amazing smile.

“Y/N, can I talk to you? For a minute?” I say to her. She nods and stands up. I walk her out back right near the balcony over looking the city. She and I sit down and on one of the lawn chairs. Her eyes gaze over the skyline as if she’s never seen anything like it. Her eyes have this glow no matter what she’s doing. Like she’s always happy to be living and breathing. Looking at her face all of my confidence that I once possessed is now gone. I stand up in a hurry.

“I can’t do this! Why did you think you could do this?!” I say running my hands through my hair. She stands up and walks towards me. She grabs my arm and I jump slightly.

“Do what, David? What is going on?” She said calming me down. The worry on her face gave me all the reason to say what I needed to say.

“Y/N. From the day I met you, I thought you were honestly the most beautiful, vibrant woman that I have ever met. It scared me how quickly I started to fall in love with you. I got to know you better and the love only grew stronger. You made me want to spend every waking moment with you. I wanted to kiss you like the world was ending every time we touch, I wanted you to be every where that I was, I wanted to be the shoulder you cry on, I wanted to be there in every happy moment in your life and I wanted to be the cause of it. You make me so fucking crazy. You make me lose motor functions.” I say chuckling and she does too. The smile never fading from her face. “The only reason I’ve never told you is because you are way way way out of my league. I thought that you deserved to be with someone so much hotter than me. I’m just me and I thought that ‘me’ wouldn’t be good enough for someone like you.” I say to her. She smiled and placed her hands on my face. She quickly leaned in and kissed my lips and every dream and thought that I had ever hsd about that moment was increased ten fold. She pulled away and laughed.

“You really thought all of that?” She asked me softly.

“Every. Day.” I said back to her with no hesitation. She wrapped her arms around me and cried slightly. I grab her so tight never wanting to let her go.

“David.” She said and pulled away with tears on her rosy cheeks. “You are the only man that has ever treated me like a human. Every other guy wants the same thing from me and it’s always sex or a booty call or I’m the person they’ve cheated on someone with. You are LITERALLY the only guy to ever say anything like that to me.” She said with her voice cracking I grab her hands as she looked down at her feet. I switch my body so that it’s facing her completely.

“Hey. Look at me.” Her head leans up to me. “You deserve everything I told you. Every last bit of it and more. Watching you get played and toyed with while I sat in the side lines like a little bitch, is the biggest regret in my life to this day. But I promise you I will never let that happen to you again. Do you understand?” She nods and I pull her in again to hug me. Tears well in the ducts of my eyes thinking about the horrible people that have made her feel like she was nothing.

“I love you, David. And if you’re wondering if I ever felt the same way, I have. I always have.” I close my eyes tight and a tear falls down my face.

“I love you too, Y/N...and thank god. This conversation could have gone so much worse.” I say laughing. She chuckles and leans her head into the curve of my shoulder.

Falling for David was easy. There was no thought to it. No control over it. What you felt for David consumed you and when his feelings matched yours, it was the most surreal feeling. After a couple months of being together, you two were at a peak of happiness. Or that’s how you felt at least.

Today was the day of the lie detector test. For you, there were no nerves. What could they ask you if you were even asked? Nothing that wouldn’t have been known. Your body was laid out on the couch comfortably as the equipment was being set up. David was off somewhere unknown and you curled on the couch, letting your eyes rest. Before you knew it, it was time for the actual fun. As everyone filed in, you sat up. David flopped down next to you, laying his head on your shoulder. Instinctively, your fingers ran through his hair, scratching his scalp gently.

“You’re the best,” he murmured, closing his eyes as you continued. Smiling, you pressed a kiss to his forehead. The man ran through the procedure and everyone was rotated through. There were a lot of laughs and noises made in response to answers. You laughed along to them. Then, it was your turn. Awkwardly, you pushed off the couch and came to sit in the seat. Once you were strapped in, you took a deep breath. A nod was given to signal Jason to begin.

“Is your name y/n?” Jason asked.

“Yes,” you giggled. After a couple moments the man said correct.

“How old are you?” Jason asked.

“Your/age,” you responded. Again, the man said you were telling the truth.

“How long have you and David been dating?” Jason questioned, making you laugh quietly

“A little over two months,” you responded, not sure of the exact time frame. Again, you told the truth.

“Did you ever have a crush on any of the other Vlog Squad members?” he asked, looking down at you. A small flush came over your cheeks. When you first became friends with the group, you and Todd were very close. He was who you gravitated towards. It was the tiniest crush because, he is beyond attractive. Nothing ever happened, and you never really wanted it to.

“Crush as in like silly middle school feelings?” you wanted clarification of the wording before you admitted one way or the other. Jason thought about it before nodding.

“Yes,” you blushed, feeling your heart rate increase.

“True,” the man said casually. A chorus of “ooo’s” broke out and your eyes came to look at David. His jaw had tensed a little bit. He looked irritated.

“Who?” Jason asked. Even though that was not how the lie detector worked, you answered without hesitation.

“I had a crush on Todd for like a week when I first started hanging out in the group, but I didn’t ever want anything with him,” you replied honestly. By the calm in your voice, and flush of your body, it was known you were telling the truth. Todd laughed loudly, throwing his head back as David gave a slight glare towards him.

“I can’t tell you that’s true based off the test itself, but her persona would suggest she’s being honest,” he said, with a small smile. You looked back at David with a small smile and he puckered his lips in a kiss manner. Smiling, you looked back to Jason.

“Would you let me have a threesome with you and David?” Jason asked, playful grin at his lips.

“No!” you screamed, laughing loudly.

“True,” he said, causing Jason to be offended, in a joking way.

“Harsh!” Jason screamed, making everyone laugh.

“Jason, the fact Trisha is into you is a blessing, don’t get your hopes up,” David spoke, smiling over to you.

“Okay, last question,” Jason chuckled. Your attention turned towards Jason once again.

“Are you in love with David?” Jason asked, causing you to stop breathing. Yes, you had completely fallen for him, but “love” was not in the vocabulary of your relationship yet. While you had known him for months before you two began to talk and then date, it was still slightly early in the relationship and it could scare him if he was not ready.

“Um-I, well,” you fumbled through your words, trying to find a response. “Kind of,” you whispered, meekly. A various amount of “AW’s” ripped through the room as you sat there.

“She’s telling the truth,” broke the silence. Sighing, your eyes fell on your hands in your lap. No part of you wanted to look at David, so as you got out of the equipment, you stood up just to have David’s body collide with yours.

“I love you,” he whispered. Cameras were rolling and you tried to hide the blush creeping up on your skin. Gulping, you looked up to see him with a wide grin on his face. Without a second thought, you pulled him towards you and let your lips press against one another, gently. His hand wrapped around your waist as you both smiled into the kiss. Once you pulled away, David was called into the hot seat. A couple of questions were asked before Jason’s face changed. He looked at David nervously before he asked:

“Do you still love Liza?”

The words slammed you in the gut. Your mouth parted as you looked at David. His normal laughing self was tense.

“No,” David said, hard and strong. His eyes were narrowed and his jaw tightened. The silence in the air made every second feel like hours.

“Lie,” the man gulped, awkwardly. The feeling of bliss felt moments before was quickly gone as you felt like you were going to throw up. David’s eyes looked at you. After ten seconds shock wore off and your body was off the couch and running towards the bathroom. Once you were in there, you locked the door. Your legs gave out immediately as you slid to the floor. Your heart was gutted out and all you could feel was the pit in your stomach making you want to vomit. Every part of your body felt completely numb. Sitting there, by yourself, tears rolled down your cheeks. Everything outside the door was loud as people screamed, but you didn’t care enough to listen. How could he say he loved you and still love her? Easy, Liza was his first love and he would always love her. You were just his rebound. Did he love you? Probably not. All of that and more circled your mind as you left the water run form your eyes.

“y/n!” David screamed, banging on the door. “Open up, please.” You let silence respond for you. No words could come to you as you curled into a ball. “y/n, please,” he begged.

“Leave me alone,” you said, just loud enough for him to hear.

“No, I won’t leave you alone!” he yelled. “Open the fucking door! You don’t understand!” Your body was limp and you could not move. That would take too much energy that you could not exert. “y/n, Liza was my first love. I will always have a part of me that loves her, but that love does not come close to what I feel for you. y/n, you are mine. You are the girl I want to be with. I want you to spend the night in my bed and to go on pointless car rides with and to wake up to. I want you. You are the girl that has brought me happiness from my darkest place. Liza is someone from my past who I still care about, but that care and love is in a friend way. I care about you and love you in a different way. Now open the fucking door, please.” With a little bit of energy, you unlocked the door. The click gave David entrance. He opened the door quickly and locked eyes with your body on the floor.

“You don’t love me,” you mumbled. Tears continued to flow down your cheeks quickly. His fists clenched roughly as he looked down at you.

“Don’t tell me how I feel about you, dammit,” he seethed. Before you could say something else, he had collected your body from the floor and had you trapped between the counter top and his hips.

“But you still love her,” you whispered, feeling your legs becoming weak again. David’s fingers gripped the counter top so harshly his knuckles became white.

“If I loved her, I wouldn’t be here with you right now. I wouldn’t be holding back all the anger I’m feeling because you don’t believe me. I fucking love you, y/n,” his fingers ran through his hair harshly.

“David,” you whimpered.

“No,” he said sternly. “I am in love with you. Do not tell me how I feel about you or someone else. I am in love with you and only you.” His words were softer near the end of him talking as his eyes watered. “Fuck, y/n, why can’t you believe me?” he sighed. His hands went from gripping the counter to wrapped around your waist. Emotionally driven, his head rested on your shoulder. “I just want you, please, y/n,” he whispered, letting a couple of tears fall from his eyes. Every part of your fell into his warm embrace. Hot tears rolled down your face as you tried to hold back the sniffles. You loved him. He knew that.

“I love you,” you murmured, just loud enough for him to hear. The second those words left your lips, David’s head pulled away to look at you.

“I am so in love with you,” he groaned, letting his hand hold your waist as the other snaked up to caress your cheek.

“Don’t leave me for her,” you whimpered, trying to stop the crying, to stop the hurt, to stop the idea of him leaving you for her. His jaw tightened as he tried to take a deep breathe.

“y/n, I’m not going to leave you, fuck,” he breathed out. His eyes opened and poured into yours before responding, “You make me the happiest I have ever been. I will never leave you,” he said, leaning down to give the most gentle kiss to your lips. His thumb rubbed your cheek trying to soothe your worry. He pulled away just enough for you to hear, “I am completely in love with you.” Everything about him was gentle now. With a deep breathe, you fell into his arms.

“I love you,” you whispered, making a small smile form on his face.

“You made me happy at my worst, y/n. You are an angel in my eyes,” he said, holding you close. “I love you.” A small smile came over you as he pressed a kiss to his forehead. “Even if you don’t believe me now, I’ll prove it to you baby,” he whispered, wrapping you tightly in his arms.

this is highkey like a month late (i mean wbk im a chronic scatterbrain procrastinator) and she’s thicccc but without further ado. my skam s4 thoughts.

I first just want to say a couple things: im not a muslim woc so my thoughts on s4 don’t hold as much value as those of a muslim, woc, or a muslim woc. I also don’t know to what degree sana’s representation was true to real life. I made an effort to look for posts from muslim woc on sana’s season but to no real avail, especially given it’s been two years since skam ended and a lot of blogs have deactivated, changed urls, or posts have become buried :( [if you know of any good posts regarding sana’s season please lmk!]. from what I can recall in 2017, there were mixed opinions on s4 with most being upset (or at least disappointed) with the ultimate execution of sana’s storyline and I agree w that. while s4 means so much to me and has a really special place in my heart, I do 100% acknowledge its flaws. ok!!!!!! lets get into it😤

ep1 -as much as I wished isak stayed in kollektivet I’m glad he and even had a rlly sweet happy time this entire season. also evak making their friends move all their furniture while they whisper romantic shit to each other and makeout? peak comedy -you fuckin wish!!! -sana is the one to say “of course you should tell noora about william”.. she Knew and still takes the fall for it :( -this opening clip is such a jarring shift into sana’s pov!! e.g. while easy to overlook in previous seasons, sana’s exclusion from the girls is glaringly obvious once we’re looking through her eyes -adding onto that! sana is the friend who notices everyone else- she’s so observant, which hurts even more when you notice her friends don’t do the same (except mayhaps chris- in my heart of hearts I know chris is also the friend who notices and goes unnoticed, but unfortunately we don’t get enough of her and sana’s relationship this season to fully see that) -yousef and the balloon squad’s entrance.... ICONIC! also I cant believe for 2 seasons they presented those dickbag nissen 97s as the be all end all of hot amazing boys when the bakka third years were RIGHT THERE like,, the penetrators vs. balloon squad + even? no contest ma’am -also! it’s so interesting that we literally had no idea sana had a brother, or that yousef etc existed until now? it’s as if she has a whole private world at home, separate from her friends and nissen (and I think a theme of this season is those two worlds merging) -im obsessed w the yousana train scene but yousef being the only one who notices sana standing off to the side? ;-; -fy faen is such a stunning clip oh my god. when sana leaves to pray? possibly my favourite skam scene ever. it’s exquisite. -sana is so cute and awkward squeezing thru the crowd shsdhgfhshdf I LOVE her love her -the last shot on yousef and noora... oh my GOD oh my god bc like. being that friend who never ever tells your real feelings or your crushes or is vulnerable with your friends?? and then having to listen to them talk about how good your crush would be with someone else (especially one of ur friends) while ur sitting there silently dying inside? and you don’t say anything since you can’t be vulnerable with your friends and u don’t think u stand a chance anyways so. (in the words of s3 noora. I think sana struck a nerve with the emotional unavailability! abbey r u ok) -this episode is a masterpiece and did such a phenomenal job of both introducing us to sana’s perspective while also touching on a multitude of her struggles AND establishing the themes of the season. plus the cinematography, editing, soundtrack and aesthetic...... o baby. (case in point I deadass just rewatched it after writing this)

ep2 -every shot of sana praying is beautiful (and beautifully edited!!) -sana’s room is usually messy... not smart enough to fully analyze this but I’m sure it means something -an interesting contrast of what’s expected of her vs. of elias- I can’t speak for muslim families, but I know even in non-muslim families girls are always held to suchhh a higher standard (source: I have 2 brothers rip) -”if you find immaturity charming” hilarious bc sana actually does in fact find immaturity charming -what’s interesting is how noora comes across in sana’s POV- kinda obnoxious, kinda ignorant, seemingly perfect (compared to how noora is portrayed in eva’s season, for example) -even is one of those ppl who uses the bill gates argument on why dropping out of school makes u richer sdfhfsjskfjfsd -sana staring down the pepsi max squad. fuck em up. -vilde adding magnus to the groupchat jfkjsjfdjfsfsdkj -isak missing eskild :’) sidenote I fucking live for isak and sana’s chats this season. they’re literally my lifeblood like....

ep3 -the kiss me scene god I go FERAL -“you need to pull it towards you, not push it away. okay?” yall mind if i SCREAM!! YOUSEF!!!!!!!!!! -there rlly is something about seeing sana, who in everyone else’s POV comes off as cold and harsh and stoic, just absolutely meltinggg when she talks w yousef like she doesn’t stop smiling she’s so sweet!!!! ah🥰 and yousef is 100% that guy who ppl tell “your gf is so intimidating and ruthless bro” and he’s like are y’all talking about sana??????? my baby?? my fuckin cinnamon apple????? -yousef’s lil smile watching sana peel carrots. 911 it’s me again -vilde and sana’s relationship has a really interesting dynamic bc like.. vilde says ignorant shit to sana while also genuinely looking up to her. and sana is probably the harshest to vilde within the group but it’s because she actually values their friendship a lot -IM HURT BECAUSE YOU NEVER REPLIED TO MY MEME -sana pulling 2yr old receipts off the top of her head to defend vilde. god I stan -sana doin research taking notes..... shameful she isn’t canonically a virgo (honestly her and isak both but like-) -she’s so soft and smiley w her mamma awh... “of course he likes you, who doesn’t like you?” her mamma only knows the real, gentle, beautiful loving sana oh im CRY -even is so kind and loving and thoughtful yall mind if i....... -”you can’t escape the internet girl” foreshadowing mayhaps?

ep4 -david and ulrikke together are fucking hilarious -noora’s “you’re lucky you don’t have to think about this stuff, heartbreak and that” :/ it’s not just vilde who says ignorant things to sana! -that being said sana and noora are cute asf in the exper5 scene.. dorky noora rise (omg josefine and her yogurt in the bloopers too sjhfkjdf) -I HANDLE BALLS BETTER THAN YOU -the yousana scene is sooo gorgeous whew...... -I always cry a lil bit (ok a lot) when yousef brings up even. and sana knew too. even sweetie ily :( -sana talking about her religion is beautiful. it’s so lovely to learn about how she thinks and sees the world. -yousef’s smile watching sana leave like ur kidding right....... -“flawless since 99″ is so cringey. it’s so cringeyyy -sana uses “smh” I knew we were soulmates

ep5 -eavesdropping on ur parent/brother’s argument is peak sibling culture -when ur always paranoid but ur always right..... -sana’s green jumpsuit sign me up babey -I really really really love elias and sana’s conversation -u dont even realize how tiny sana is until she’s standing next to isak and even -not finding out why yousef avoided the fight and why he kissed noora will haunt me forever (could we not have expanded more on that instead of noorhelm.......) -the parallel of sana washing isak’s blood off her hands vs. her washing her hands during maghrib in episode 1. gotta sit down. -vilde gossiping to the pepsimax girls stings SO bad it’s just such a betrayal?:( -“the other girls seem cool, especially noora! she’s so pretty!” ok much to unpack here but: sana again comparing herself to noora (who she sees as /perfect/)... sana being written off despite putting so much effort and passion into the russ bus while noora, who has done literally nothing and at best is indifferent to russ, is the one they like the most. disgusteng -love will tear us apart.. bitch..... -sana abt to cry god I can’t -if sana is anything like me (I mean I think she is but jkjjkhsdfhfsd). looking stupid is the absolute worst so like, her sending out emails abt being bus boss when she was actually being lied to? being played? and her being “paranoid” about sara being shady, but deciding hey maybe im just being crazy? except she wasn’t she was right and she Knew!! and she’s probably thinking how dumb it was for her to get her hopes up, everything always ends badly anyways and no one actually likes her :((((((( -dont rlly know what my feelings are on the fight. im not against it bc isak does have a temper but his apparent motive always seemed weak to me?? and god I feel so bad for even

ep6 -forgot about sana getting bullied in middle school yall mind if I sob?? -sana lying and getting defensive bc it’s hard to be vulnerable, or because she hates looking stupid? or both?:( -isak looking up dandelions in his textbook just bc even put one behind his ear. I HATE this man -sana’s dad asking if she had a bad day aw :( -all the boys (and sana) wearing black but yousef wearing white.... what does it mean.............. -the carrots are back goddammit -radio station playing during this scene: “if I have to choose between the just non-muslim and the unjust muslim, without any doubt I would choose the non-muslim who is just” -ISAK’S NOSE SFFJDFJFSDKJSDF -sana’s text about chris I’m going to bawl my eyes out. “yeah! looking forward (to going to nissen) but a bit worried. don’t know anyone else starting there.” (J: new friends?) “yes, at least one of them. I have german with her (chris) and she’s very cool!” -the contrast of how blunt sana came off when we’re first introduced to her vs. how she was really just excited to make a new friend bc she was scared no one would like her :( especially knowing her past with bullying and how nervous she was to start at nissen? chris baby I LOVE YOU thank u ;-; -also sana keeping 2yr old conversations on her phone... same -sana is honestly too smart and scheming and overthinking for her own good. she has these elaborate plans that more-or-less always get ruined by her being more kind than she gives herself credit for (e.g. wanting to protect vilde in s1, clearing isak’s name in s4) -everyone in skam texts back so fast smh -chris calling sana “sonic”...... a moment please -I cannot watch the sana/evak apartment scene without thinking of the bloopers and losing it lmfaoooo.. “this is where we live. just come in” -ik it’s based off fanart but there is little I hate more than their matching outfits -“remember you’re both geniuses!” 🥺even -once again isak studying is uhhhh me - “you’re a good person” yall i love isak i really do. he puts his foot in his mouth pretty often and doesn’t have a great brain-to-mouth filter and he can be awkward and rambly and blunt and unsure of what to say in emotional situations but also? he’s so genuine. it’s just his honest thoughts and he says it bc he cares about sana and knows she needs to hear it!! -ᶠᵃᵉⁿ ᵉᵛᵉⁿ -sana’s inner turmoil.. thank u iman for inventing acting (ik I haven’t mentioned it much yet but god iman is SUCH a phenomenal actor I owe her my life) -LETS GO BITCHES

ep7 -sana crying silently in her room breaks my fucking heart (IMAN!!!!) -idk how I feel about the instagram plot but sana watching as her plan falls into place and then storming up to sara... pretty bada$$ -“it’s creepy it was published but it’s more creepy we have a bus boss who talks shit about everyone” THANK YOU vilde -i love s4 isak thanks -sana and jamilla’s chat aw :~) -how awkward do yall think the walk to the bench was lmfao -what sana tells isak is SO powerful and I love it a lot -isak does actually make a good point- the other girls are like that too. -unfortunately I have been in situations isak describes, where you want to learn more about your friend’s culture or religion because you care about them and you’re genuinely interested, but you don’t know what questions are okay to ask and you don’t want to sound rude or ignorant, so you ultimately end up asking no questions at all. but I hate that the responsibility is put on sana to constantly educate people bc I cannot imagine how exhausting that must be [[[ok so. I know there are VERY mixed opinions on the bench scene but here’s my dumbass two cents. 1- I genuinely think isak was trying to make sana feel better by attempting to relate to her and pass on advice that really helped him. however, I don’t think isak realized what sana eventually told him- that her experience wearing the hijab is a lot different than isak’s experience as a gay man. do I agree with everything isak said? nooo. do I understand why he said it? yeah. 2- it was not isak’s place to tell sana norwegians aren’t racist, or not to look for racism in questions. I think there’s some truth to ppl often just being ignorant, and he does add that there are probably a lot of racist people in Norway, but yeah. not great. 3- in conclusion I think while isak shared some meaningful advice w sana, he put his foot in his mouth too and said some stupid shit. im not trying to defend that. I will add, though: a. we actually do see some growth on isak’s part. when he and even are yelled at on the street, that’s the moment it clicks for him that oh shit, this is what sana was talking about. this is what she has to experience? and that’s why he texts noora, “in the speech for sana, you have to include how insanely strong she is. I don’t think many people understand how much bullshit she has to take” and b. isak’s (bad) advice of “not looking for the racism in things” is ultimately contrasted by yousef (a moc who lived most of his life as a muslim) suggesting instead to show people what islam really is. and that’s so much more meaningful. I think the root of a lot of the issues isak brought up- i.e. ignorance- is a general lack of education, representation, or effort by non-muslim people to seek out information themselves. so sana leading by example and showing what it means to her to be muslim is so much more powerful.]]] -𝒃𝒂𝒎! -BEST BUDS 🥺

ep8 -haper du har plass weaving in and out of this episode until the chorus finally breaks when the los losers van shows up...... miss julie 😭 -oh my god the pictures. im a fucking MESS bc they’re not only significant to the scene and to sana but also like,, as part of our goodbye to the girls?? -the balloon squad and even :( while the timeline of them reconciling within just this week is kinda wack, seeing even back with his friends looking so happy makes my heart uwu so i’ll allow it just this once -eva’s message to vilde about her and magnus being able to trust each other w/o reading their texts... growth or irony -chris is such a phenomenal friend (and this is why I wanted more of her in s4!!) -sana’s phonecall to the girls breaks my fucking heart bc like. right off the bat she’s finally being vulnerable with them?? telling them about her fears and insecurities and struggles? typing this im gonna start crying lol but god I love her so much. she’s so brave and she put all that on the line bc all she really cares about are her friends, she loves them SO much even if (she thinks) they don’t love her back -lowkey sobbed so hard during the haper du har plass clip I almost threw up and it gave me a headache :) -anyways this is one of my favourite skam clips and god just. the moment you hear the girls calling for sana??? I LOSE it. when sana just starts BEAMING omg🤧 the girls love sana and support her and if you fuck with sana you fuck with us!!!!!! god. cannot articulate how dear to my heart this scene is. -haper du har plass feels like the end of the episode and the party clip is kinda just tacked on but I love how happy everyone is!! they’re all drinking champagne (who taught isak how to hold things) and dancing and smilingggg 💛 -yousana rise!!!!!!!! -ok don’t get me wrong I hate william for crashing the party but their entrance slow-mo kinda slaps.... also sana popping up in between noorhelm SENDS me

ep9 -this is the point in the season where the amount of time dedicated to noorhelm is beyond beyond beyond significantly damaging to the story. this is sana’s last episode!! instead of having them makeout in front of william’s car for 20 minutes mayhaps we could’ve had a conversation between the girls and sana, or with her brother (if they had continued the elias alcoholism plotline rip), or maybe even with jamilla or her mamma? like I don’t care at ALL about noora or william. give me anything else. ple a s e -what makes skam scenes so brilliant is their quiet moments!! julie let the scene breathe. not everything needs a tacky song playing over top. -I’ve said this abt like twenty clips now but MAGHRIB. oh my GOD. an absolute masterpiece and definitely tied for my all time favourite skam clip. can’t rlly put into words how stunning it is. & I love sana and yousef’s conversation so much. -“of course I brought food! my name is yousef!” mr. acar you’re the only man I trust

ep10 -as much as my heart yearns for 10 sana episodes I think splitting up the last episode of skam into individual POV clips for different characters was brilliant and such a poignant way to say goodbye :( -okay don’t think about what sana could’ve written in her texts to everyone or ur heart will go sicko mode -I won’t write anything abt this ep since I’ve already written too much but like.. (elias should’ve gotten a clip instead of william. pchris can stay because his clip was funny but he’s on thin fuckin ice) -kjaere sana was such a beautiful way to say goodbye to skam. so yeah. bye skam. i miss you.

overall ➔I’m not really sure why (possibly a lethal combination of my undying love for sana bakkoush, how much I relate to her, this but my ass was crying EVERY single episode of season 4...... F ➔I’m obsessed with s4′s aesthetic. imo the best editing, soundtrack and cinematography of any season!!!! julie is so talented at making each season feel distinct- to me, sana’s season is cool, vibrant colours (aka the late-night sunset aesthetic- gabie i hear u laughing shut up), crisp electronic/pop music and rap, ethereal city nights..... also sana has the best style of any skam character it had to be said ➔sana’s growth! seeing her open up and be honest and vulnerable with the girls during that phone call. sana sending all of her friends literally the sweetest messages of how much they mean to her and how much she values their relationship. sana being the (MUCH) bigger person and making amends with sara, ingrid etc. I love her so much :’((( ➔I’ve thought a lot about what I would change in season 4 and honestly? im a mf scatterbrain and have no real, structured ideas. my biggest issue is too much noora. dream s4 would be william staying in london and noora being happy on her own (but not rly on her own bc she has the girls and kollektivet!). as :/ as I am about the noora/yousef plotline, I’m not really sure what I’d do to replace the yousana conflict in ep5. maybe involving elias, or the balloon squad and even? related to that- in lieu of all the noora/noorhelm screentime, I would so much rather have a follow-up plot to elias’s drinking problem bc it was kinda just dropped? at the very least, the william clip should’ve been elias’s. I also would've killed for more one-on-one scenes with chris (even vilde or eva!), jamilla, even, members of the balloon squad... there are so many interesting stories that could’ve been explored instead of going down the noorhelm rabbithole again. furthermore, I feel like the social media plot was a bit... weak? again I’ve tried thinking of what I would’ve done instead (while also keeping the haper du har plass clip, y’all can pry that one from my cold dead hands) to little avail. what especially threw me about this plotline is that sana did this in s2 to jamilla, fucked up, and it bit her in the ass. I know that she gets irrational when angry but from a storytelling perspective, it seems repetitive. just.. I feel like there could’ve been a more powerful plot in which sana follows the same character arc. another thing I would’ve loved to see is beyond the los losers van, an apology from the girls to sana. or even just a conversation where they tell her “hey sana, we’re sorry for not paying attention and we’re sorry for being thoughtless/ignorant.” an apology from vilde about things she’s said in the past would’ve been <3. even a gesture! the girls order pizza again but this time it’s halal, or they make an effort to learn about sana’s religion and culture. I know it’s implied through the letter they write for sana, but a final standalone scene would’ve been so nice. ➔i’ve noticed soo many remakes do this thing where they like.. water down shitty behaviour of their characters. which like- sure. I would love for everyone to be kind and thoughtful and not as horrible as they could be but also... I think that’s the point of skam? to show that people fuck up, but that doesn’t define them as a person. no one is perfect and no one can be thoughtful and considerate and kind all the time. and often these ‘problematic’ actions are integral to the story- e.g. elias saying stupid comments to isak (related to isak’s internalized homophobia and fear of coming out to his friends), the girl squad being ignorant about what sana can eat, etc. so..... your remake is not better because it erased every horrible action every character has done. (nuance.. where r u.........) ➔despite its flaws, I will say- the good moments of season 4? ineffable. I think we sometimes forget that julie literally wrote, directed, and I believe (?) assisted w editing and soundtrack too. i cant imagine doing all that under so much pressure, trying to bring so many storylines to a conclusion whilst simultaneously creating a goodbye-season to a show she put her life into the past two years. I’m so fucking appreciative of her. and you know what? all in all julie wrote some pretty damn beautiful episodes and scenes, and you can tell she loves this show just as much as we do. ➔and honestly this is maybe one reason I’m more wary of watching remake s4′s, bc like.. this season meant SO much bc it was the last season of skam. we knew it was the last season. the final episode is more or less a love letter, a goodbye to the show. whereas w some remakes (do i have to say whomst) its like.. that love isnt there. it’s just another season. yknow? in conclusion I miss skam so much :(

alright just a “””quick””” (lol as if) little thing for each one bc it’s getting late & you’ve already been waiting on this for like an hour at the time i started typing. it’s probably gonna be long as fuck but the tl;dr is at the bottom

LUTHER:

they did luther so dirty…it was like david cage was playing “racist trope bingo” for his entire debut chapter…and then on top of that all he cares about is kara & alice, these two near-strangers, and it’s real easy to get him killed for them. in fact, in an ending where kara sacrifices herself at the border, she tells alice that luther will get her across the border, and after that, rose will take care of her. UM WHAT? don’t call ur PSN trophy “happy family” and then try to erase luther like that!! what does luther want? what are his hopes and dreams, his fears? nobody ever bothers to ask bc they’re too busy making ralph alice’s dad. and it’s not that i don’t like ralph - i do! but he threatened alice with a knife TWICE. after her previous dad’s bullshit, that’s the last thing she needs!!

here’s my take on luther: he says that what his life was before kara & alice doesn’t matter, and that’s because david cage doesn’t care about him. but imagine instead that luther remembers what he did (was forced to do) before he broke his programming. our luther is sweet and gentle and good, but zlatko forced him to use his strength as a weapon for LITERALLY tearing people apart. don’t you think luther regrets that? don’t you think he wishes he could take it back? perhaps his even temper and loving heart is a RESULT of those early memories: he’s seen the worst sides of anger and callousness, he’s had to be complicit in it. my feeling is that he never ever wants to be complicit in something like that again…it feels weird when he picks up a gun in the game because i think he would be even more of a staunch pacifist than josh?? i feel like even when luther does get annoyed or angry he’s so afraid of the harm he’s capable of doing he doesn’t even really let himself feel it And That’s Sad. he should be able to get annoyed at like a broken coffee maker or some shit without illogically worrying it will result in someone’s maiming or death?? maybe he is So Ready to throw himself on a grenade for kara and alice because yes, he does love them, but also he feels he has to redeem himself somehow, yk? he has to be willing to do absolutely WHATEVER it takes to be Good

they didn’t give luther any depth…he never got to speak to zlatko’s captives and apologize, he never got to express a feeling about kara potentially burning down the whole fucking nightmare house (with living androids inside, i might add) - would he have wished to save those androids? would he be glad their suffering was over? would he have motherfucking hearts in his eyes for kara single-handedly destroying his own personal hell? he deviated for alice, it was alice that made him say “ok, doing this to kids is where i literally can’t take it anymore” - don’t you think he’d be so retroactively terrified of all the terrible things that could have happened to her?

like i truly don’t get why people make ralph alice’s dad when luther loves her so fucking much he’d bring her the moon if she asked - he’s the only person who loves her just as selflessly and unconditionally as kara does. she accepted him and wanted him to say goodnight their very first night together…as soon as he resisted his programming, she stopped being afraid of him, and it must be so amazing for him to finally have people around who don’t either fear him or try to control him…whether u ship him with kara or not (i do, everyone should - it’s one thing to HC kara as gay but i side-eye people who don’t wanna ship luther with anybody) you know he’s gotta cherish them so much

AMANDA:

ok look i know amanda is the antag to connor’s story but honestly she’s metal as FUCK. i was so fucking floored to not only learn the garden isn’t a garden but that amanda isn’t amanda…my first playthrough i was letting connor be just a lil bit deviant but whenever amanda would ask about it i would panic and lie…now i know it doesnt matter what you can say and you can be blatantly deviant right in front of her and she’s like ok Whatever BUT i was deeply shook to realize all my lying to her all along hadn’t meant a thing…she did in fact KNOW i was lying because she wasn’t real, she was living in connor’s brain and she could see all that shit he was doing

and also?? like, imagine you were made out of a dead person’s face and voice. we don’t know if amanda has a body, we don’t know if kamski actually liked what he created or thought it was creepy (like imagine if he and amanda were close and then she died…it’d be weird to see her like that), we don’t know if amanda CAN deviate like the androids…she’s living this half life potentially stuck in some garden and just doing what her program says like everybody else. but even though machines get all the sympathy in this game i very rarely ever see people stop and go “dude, is she ok…is someone controlling her can we help her” - amanda’s a lot like connor, she’s hunting down deviants but she’s not a human and she’s not alive yet so who’s pulling her strings?? can they be cut???

JOSH:

i’ll be honest i haven’t figured out what Angle i like best for josh the way i’ve got one for luther and north but he has such strong convictions i feel like they would have to stem from some past experience. everybody’s always arguing about simon vs north that nobody stops to give josh the attention he deserves…he’s part of the fantastic 4 too!! who is josh? what does he want? what is he afraid of? does he refuse to be violent for reasons like luther - did he hurt someone, deliberately or accidentally? (to a lesser extent, a pacifist markus who shoved leo can also follow this pattern - he gave into violence and thought he’d killed carl’s son, so he swore to do no more violence after that.) or: did he see someone else get hurt/get hurt himself? i know the backstory they give him in the gallery but tbh it’s very similar and not stand-out from most of the rest of the stuff we hear…

like, what made josh deviate? we literally never find out. i think it would be interesting tho if instead of just being the victim of violence, he was ordered to DO violence, and refused - maybe that’s why he got hurt. but i think his relationship WITH violence could be a complex thing for anyone who wanted to tackle it. we know why north prefers violence, why does josh detest it? (similarly, why does simon prefer safety over either approach? - but fandom gives him a lot of love and attention and tries to explain this, and nobody tries to explain it for josh.)

KARA & ALICE:

like…to a small extent…i know they’re main characters but i could write an essay just on why they didn’t get a fair shake either - constant victims of assault, little depth, kara got to choose what happened to her but not what kind of person she was gonna be like markus & connor, significantly less playtime than markus & connor, had NO influence on the big macro plot like markus & connor, i could go on…but definitely the worst for me is that everything about kara that made us love her (from the short), was ERASED - david took her memories and never made the slightest move towards kara wanting them back, or her being able to get them back. she’s six years old and he took all of her history from her, all of her agency!! i feel like translated into fic they can both become very flat - all kara cares about is protecting alice, and alice is constantly scared or hurt or needing to be taken care of, like a baby doll. granted that’s not actually far from the game’s canon, but it could have been MORE. kara had six entire years of experiences before she met alice - what makes alice special? who is kara without alice?

i really wish we had been able to take a personality route with kara - her main superpower seems to be empathy and getting people on her side (ralph, jerrys, zlatko’s creatures), but she can also wave around a gun at anybody who gets near her baby. it would have been really interesting to explore two sides of that - to have a kara who is 1000% Done and ready for wholesale murder if it means surviving vs having a kara who can bring out the best in anyone, even if they seem like bad people at first. (imagine the influence you could have over alice - she would learn to be wary of strangers or be warm to them.) but instead the narrative is wishy-washy; you can’t teach alice anything, and in fact she serves as kara’s moral compass instead of the other way around - you wind up doing things like comforting the guy who broke kara multiple times and waving a gun at ralph (who like, shouldn’t have done that, but also isn’t 100% in control of his own facualities all the time). it would have been really interesting to see kara be able to influence her own fate more as well - the camp sections are shitty and should not exist but like maybe a kara who had spent the whole game yelling at everyone with a gun would have the ability unlocked to then rally the people inside, and who cared what connor and markus were doing, you know?

but david doesn’t know how to write women so that’s not what we got - kara carried that entire franchise into reality and he totally screwed her over!!

TL;DR

luther was forced to do terrible things and that could explain a lot of his behavior if anybody cared, nobody ever wonders if amanda is being forced to obey programming like the rest of the machines or if she’s ok, josh’s relationship with violence could be very complex and we don’t know his motivation for refusing to participate in it the way we know north’s for preferring it, and david can’t write women so he shafted kara so fucking bad and it is an honest to god shame

hi so like two ppl liked my post abt me making an in depth post about me so i decided 2 go through with it even if only two ppl wanted it bc I Love Talking Abt ME!

hi!! so my name is max, but i go by, and have gone by, a lot of names (including, but not limited to, serena, ben, eddie, red, chey, etc.) my actual irl birth given name is cheyenne, i dont care if you call me that it’ll just be a bit weird for me bc i havent gone by that online in over 2 years. im 15 years old!! i was born july 27th 2003, the bad news is if youre older than me ur now my parental figure no take backs.

i have really really bad anxiety!! its to the point that it keeps me up at night and i usually cant message my friends unprompted to talk, let alone the strangers i want to befriend. i have adhd, ocd, anxiety, and depression! i may also have aspergers, but i havent been tested yet so we dont quite know. you’ll have to forgive me for my negative posts, as i dont really have anywhere else to go with that stuff :(

i was born and raised in tennessee! you’ll see me tag posts containing anything cowboy-ish with “tennessee tag” bc i think im hilarious personally. this is also the reason i listen to quite a bit of country (carrie underwood and miranda lambert are GOOD ok!!!) and its also why im such a big preds fan!

my first ever hockey game was april 11th, 2004: the first preds home playoff game! i dont remember much from my childhood (as i dont remember anything before last week) but apparently i was an outgoing easily excited kiddo, and during games i would fall asleep as soon as the period ended and woke up as soon as the next one started. my grandfather works for the nhl! he is the nashville predators time keeper (dave/david peterson if any of yall have been to the games lol) and because of this i got to meet a lot of players as a child!

my favorite stories to tell about this are about the two players i was closest to, adam hall and chris mason. once, when adam was in either tampa or minnesota i was downstairs waiting for him and he was late for the bus, so he ran right by me. according to everyone who tells this story (since i cant remember) i saw this, stomped out of the room, and loudly yelled “adam hall! where is my hug!” a different story is when i was a kid i was terrified of goalie masks. when mr chris mason came to say hello i got scared and he apologized for scaring me. my response was “its okay mace! i know the mask keeps you from getting booboos!” (i was a Child OKAY) and some blackhawks players were nearby and they started chirping him abt that and i fuckin Yelled At Them. bc im Iconic apparently.

but my alltime favorite story is about paul kariya. apparently once at a player meet and greet i walked across the table to him and just started Talking To Him???? and he taught me what a fist bump was (he called it “knuckles” and i Loved Them) and i pestered my family and everyone i saw with it for awhile (i would constantly loudly proclaim “knuckles!!!” whenever i wanted a fistbump sksksk) and fun fact: i couldnt say kariya (i was really young ok) so i called him “paul kia!!!” so now i forever associate kariya w the pokemon palkia

i was lucky enough to grow up with a nhl official as a grandfather so i was close with a lot of players, but i was closest with nashville goalie chris mason! he is a genuinely fantastic man and i once travelled to st louis to see him after he got traded. (that ended up w st louis fans jokingly trying to keep me after i told them i was his lucky charm [they didnt believe me until they beat the canucks 8-1 sksksk])

after the 2015-16 season i fell out of hockey. there were bigger hyperfixations to deal w, the offseason was always a bad time for me and i ended up genuinely forgetting about hockey. wish i was joking. then my brother started talking about a boy he called his “ham son” and that’s how i found out about auston matthews. thanks to him i got back into hockey! it was around january 2017 and i fell back in love with the sport that practically raised me.

im still a preds fan to this day. although i like new teams now, something past me would HATE. in fact past me was one of those annoying “fuck puck bunnies >:( bandwagoners are FAKE FANS” ppl, but thanks to tumblr ive learned to love too many teams to count. in fact thanks to a certain finn (aho) im actually conflicted on my favorite team these days, i mean im literally going to raleigh for thanksgiving so i can see the canes play the devils and the leafs!!

Requested?: yes by anonymous : thought I’d send in a (shitty) zane request😂 so what about the reader and zane get into an argument - on the verge of breaking up - oh yeah they’re dating lol. maybe because of his drinking or just the good old trust issues 😂 (not including stassie would be greatly appreciated)...but it has a happy ending maybe because David steps in and handles the fight or something...(let me know if this is bad and I’ll come up with something else) i looove u and i appreciate ur blog so much ♥️

Zane picked up another expensive vase and smashed it against the ground. Y/n winced as it shattered. She sat on the couch, frustrated with her drunk boyfriend. She thought about how different he was when he was drunk, and how he never remembered it in the morning. Zane ran past the couch, screaming, with some other expensive thing in his hand. Y/n gathered her things as soon as she heard it break against the floor. She hopped over glass as she made her way to the pile of shoes near David's front door.

"Where are you going?" Zane slurred and looked at her with puppy dog eyes. She grabbed her shoes and slammed the door behind her. She couldn't take it anymore.

Zane texted her when he woke up the next day, but he didn't mention anything about the previous night. She texted back as if everything was normal, but ultimately ignored him for most of the day.

Night fell and the cycle was due to start all over again, but she wasn't going to let that happen. She showed up at David's, a little more pissed than usual. The gang was all there and welcomed her as she entered the house.

"Where's Zane?" She smiled at her friends, but they could tell she was serious.

"In the bathroom." Carly pointed towards the bathroom, and right on cue a flush was heard. Zane walked out, beer in hand.

"Who wants to take a shot?" He asked the room, but nobody answered. They were all too busy staring at y/n. He looked over and saw his girlfriend glaring at him. "What did I do?" He furrowed his brow in confusion.

"Can I talk to you alone?" She dragged him by the hand into David's room to talk as a chorus of "oooooh's" came from their friends.

"Whatever it is, I'm sorry." He gave her a puppy dog face and attempted to grab her waist. She backed away from him immediately.

"Why do you drink so much?" She sat down on the bed, defeated. He tilted his head and sat next to her.

"I don't really know, why?" Something was bothering her and he wanted to know what.

"You don't know?" Her voice got slightly louder. "Zane, you turn into a completely different person when you drink." She looked at him as if he was stupid.

"No I don't?" He said it like a question, making him sound unsure. "I think I'm the same, just drunk." His brown eyes studied her face, looking for any sign of what she was thinking.

"Yes, you do! You yell, and smash things, and have no respect for other people's things!" She was yelling now, mad that he didn't understand. "Do you even remember that I left last night? Do you wanna know why?" She stood up, intimidating her boyfriend.

"What?" Zane scratched his beard as he tried to remember the events of the night prior to no avail.

"I left because you turned into a monster. You weren't my boyfriend anymore! You were a monster!" She tried to get through to him, but the only thing running through his mind was the Gabbie Hanna Monster meme. "Zane? Are you listening to me?"

"Yeah!" He snapped back into reality, slightly buzzed as he looked y/n up and down.

"It makes me scared! I get scared that one day you're gonna turn into a monster and hurt me. I shouldn't be afraid to be around you when you drink, Zane. I should be laughing at you falling on the floor or something. It's just not right." Her voice was quiet now, tears filling her eyes.

"What are you saying?" Zane finally understood what was going on.

"I think we need to take a break for a while. At least until you can stop drinking so much." A tear fell onto her face and Zane resisted the urge to wipe it. He hated seeing her like this, and hated what she was saying. "And if you can't stop drinking like that, I don't think I'll be able to be with you, like, ever." She walked toward's David's en suite bathroom in search of a tissue.

"Y/n, can we talk about this?" Zane's throat was scratchy as he asked her. She whipped around to look at him.

"We just did Zane, and you didn't say anything useful." She opened up the bathroom, hitting David in the face with the door. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry!" She apologized as he brought a hand to his forehead.

"It's fine, I was eavesdropping. I deserve it." David walked out of his bathroom. "This is like the episode of Friends where everyone got stuck in the bathroom listening to Ross and Rachel argue about being on a break." He laughed at his own joke before sitting down next to Zane.

"Ugh." Y/n went a got a tissue from the bathroom.

"David, what do I do? I don't want to lose her." Zane put his arm around Dave's shoulder.

"Do what she says, dude." He patted Zane's back and wormed out from under his arm. "You keep breaking all my shit, so I kinda agree with her." He told Zane as he exited the room.

"I'm going home. Call me when you figure your life out." She walked towards the door, anxious to get away from him. He stood up and grabbed her arm.

"I don't wanna be on a break." He pulled her back into the room. More tears escaped her eyes as she thought of all the memories she had with him. But she had to be strong.

"I don't either, Zane, but thats what needs to happen. You need to lose me for a little bit, and hopefully you'll miss me enough to fix yourself." She freed her arm and shut the door behind her. Zane stood there frozen, shocked that y/n had just broken up with him.

"I would do anything for you." He mumbled sadly, almost ready to cry.

He did cry, and he didn't lie. He would do anything for y/n. He started going to the gym more, and eating healthier. Any change in routine was helping to distract from the fact that he was sober and single.

Y/n smiled when she heard his voice through the phone for the first time in weeks.

"I fixed myself, just like you said. I protected you from the monster. Will you please be my girlfriend again?"
