Universe/Basis: Harry Potter

Synopsis: Non-Canonical HP dr where I get to experience the magical world completely and fully with my favorite characters. There’s no war, no plot, and things have been changed to make it more desirable for me. IE: No Death Eaters/Voldemort, no one dies, etc. It’s basically just a boarding school dr with magic lol. It was my main dr for a long time and has a LOT of little things scripted in. Honestly, I’m still so in love with it and if I ever did permashift, it would probably be here.

Universe/Basis: Harry Potter

Synopsis: Canon-Adjacent dr where basically I’m Harry. Obviously he doesn’t exist in this dr because I’m obsessed with being the main character (/hj). Things have been scripted to not be so traumatizing and awful all the time, but will loosely follow a sort of plot to let me be the chosen one in a prophecy and basically the center of attention. There’s stakes and I don’t expect to shift here for long intervals because it seems stressful, but I’m shifting to third year with a pre-written backstory for the first two years. Again, not fully canon- certain characters don’t die and the war isn’t killing innocents etc. I just like attention.

Synopsis: Canon-Adjacent to the Lost TV series, without the um…trauma. Also people don’t die. It’s basically Survivor meets Real Housewives. I live for the drama tbh. Basically the plane crash leaves me stranded with strangers and I get to meet the characters. I don’t have a s/o but I’m looking to be an adoptive daughter figure to Sawyer because emotionally unavailable selfish assholes seem to be my father-figure go to for some reason.

Synopsis: Heavily scripted but honestly it’s almost-canon to the events of seasons 1 and 2 of the 100, obviously not so traumatizing though. I’m basically using this as a teenage-run society dr or maybe like a huge camping trip dr lmao. None of the 100 die like in canon, and also because I have main character syndrome Clarke and therefore also Wells aren’t part of the original delinquent mission. My s/o is gonna be Bellamy Blake, and I have a few close friends in the 100/eventually the grounders. There’s a lot of drama lmao. Also, my dad is Markus Kane and my (adoptive) brother is Murphy and my whole backstory is so convoluted it needed rewritten multiple times to even be coherent lmao.

I own a makeup/skincare company, as well as a non-profit community oriented foundation to teach kids the arts (acting, music, performance, dance, drawing, painting, etc.) but also hosting events and drives to give back to local communities. As for my professional career, I’m a part of some of my favorite movies/shows in my cr, as well as some movie ideas I had myself and made into a franchise in my DR. I’m basically the biggest IT girl and I’m like if Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and Margot Robbie were a single person. Universe/Basis: MCU - Young Avengers

Synopsis: I’m Tony Stark’s daughter, all the OGs don’t die, and I’m in charge of the Young Avengers. I’ve adapted some comic book characters into new heroes, as well as adding known characters like Spider-man, America Chavez, Yelena (younger in my dr), Kate Bishop, etc. It’s basically like fanfic Avengers lmao. We all live in the compound in upstate New York, and sometimes other “characters” pop in to give us training lessons and stuff such as Stephen Strange or Wong, T’Challa, Bucky, Loki, etc. It seems so fun to just have a compound full of super powered/super-capable teenagers tbh. A nightmare for my dad tho.

Synopsis: A more canon-reliant take on an MCU dr, where I join the original Avengers back in 2011. I’m basically a greek demigoddess capable of minor feats of magic, but through being a hero I’m eventually granted full godhood (like Hercules/Heracles in the myths) for my efforts. Fighting villains and hearing the hero drama seems so interesting. Honestly, I’ll probably be less involved in this dr than my Assemble dr, but this one’s still cool if only for my backstory here alone lol.

Universe/Basis: The Hunger Games

Synopsis: Basically not canon at all lmao. I don’t want to kill anyone, that’s insane. Basically, the districts still exist (though people aren’t starving or anything) and “The Games” are basically just a big game show held in the Capitol and the winner gets money, fame, etc. This dr is loosely based off of the prequel, the ballad of songbirds and snakes, so there’s *technically* Coriolanus Snow as my love interest/mentor, but his character is so different that it’s basically not even him- I just find Tom Blythe attractive is all. Also Sejanus Plinth is my bbygirl he deserved so much better.

Synopsis: Non-Canon pjo dr. I’m a child of Zeus (I need to be the main character so bad ig. Also, I need to have an absent/terrible biological father apparently?? minus tony tho 🫶) and I’m the only one in the Zeus Cabin. There’s no quests and we’re genuinely just trained over the summer and allowed to either stay or go to school for the rest of the year. It’s basically a summer camp dr but with a little magic and stuff here and there. Percy, Grover, Annabeth, etc. are all my age and eventually Percy will be my s/o because clueless boys of unimaginable power are just so babygirl to me i guess.

Both Daryl and Rick are sort of father figures to me, and my love interests include a few people such as Carl, Enid, Ron, and Kelly (I love Kelly sm) and the later seasons are changed to be better to live in and everything’s not constantly falling apart. Also, basically scripting out all of the Negan drama and most stuff after it, because absolutely not.

Synopsis: LISTEN!!! I just think it would be fun to fuck around in this dr tbh. I’m a high-end dealer (drugs don’t kill people and don’t have a bad effect on people either) and I just want to go to lavish parties and commit high end crimes. I think Walter White is funny as hell unintentionally and Jesse Pinkman seems like the coolest person to just hang out with (at least in the first few seasons of the show.) Obviously, it’s not even remotely canon and doesn’t follow the actual plot. I also won’t spent too much time here. Like I said, it’s just to mess around in. It’s absolutely not serious nor is it a place i’d want to be for long.

It’s sailing the mediterranean so it doubles as a travel dr, where I get to see places like Greece, Rome, Venice, etc. when we dock and go inland. I’m so unbelievably stoked about this one tbh.

Synopsis: guys i LOVE avatar omg. uncle iroh singing little soldier boy can make me cry on command to this day. In this dr, I’m a fire bender runaway living in Omashu. I also scripted different fire nation “countries,” like how the earth kingdom has sort of different governments set-up throughout or how the water tribes have the two separate tribes on either pole. I’m from an island tribe and because I like attention, I’m a princess in that kingdom. This dr is mostly canon??? It was a cartoon so not too much traumatizing stuff happened anyways, but there are certainly some…questionable moments.

I wonder what it will be like when Zeno sees the other dragons again in the real world. When he hypothetically comes face to face with everyone after it's all over. (Assuming this is a timeline in which everyone lives and the dragon gods are somehow appeased with no sacrifice or return or whatever)

In my idea of a perfect (well, maybe not perfect, but happy) timeline, everyone gets to live and Zeno's immortality is lifted. He no longer has to live if he wants to, but with the choice of living out a life with the end in sight, a life with his family, will he want to end it all right then and there? I understand his suffering and everything he's been through, but he does love Yoon, Hak, Yona and the other dragons. Zeno's betrayal was justified. There wasn't a single drop of malice in his decisions, just desperation.

That being said, I'm pretty sure he'd feel guilty about everything once it's over, and although Zeno isn't necessarily a bad person, I won't say he didn't make mistakes. He made BIG mistakes and hurt the people he cares about so yeah, he will have to reconcile to some degree. I mean, he kind of did seal away the dragons, lie, take the chalice, and set his whole plan into motion without an explanation.

Now, with that being said, Zeno's plan was pretty logical and I understand why he might have kept it under wraps. I highly doubt the dragons would have consented to it.

Will Ouryuu's words get to him? Will he view himself as a traitor? I kind of hope not?? But in the case that he does, then BOY does this supply some hefty hurt/comfort for Kusa (and me and my fiancee in our delulu little fanfic world) to write out.

I'd like a scene where everyone is back. Yoon and Hak are there and they and the dragons immediately swarm the Princess, rejoicing in their victory while Zeno holds back, unsure of whether he'll be welcome or not.

And then everyone sees him kind of moping in the background, and immediately tackle him. A parallel to the scene in chapter 100 when they find out about his abilities. Maybe he's on the edge of whether he wants lo live out another couple of decades or not. Maybe this is the deciding factor, and he decides he wants to stay. He decides he wants to live.

(In another AU, again, written by my beloved fiancee and I, Kaya is the one who convinces him to live and the whole "fighting the gods" scene plays out WAY differently, but that's a ramble for another time. I feel like this ramble is slightly more canon-adjacent lmao. Also, I'm fully aware of all the gray areas and all the moral and emotional issues regarding Yona right now. I know, but just. but no for real now. to preface im very forgetful when it comes to fnaf lore and i sometimes miss some plot points and many times they affect my headcanons (once i remember them) but i cant check everything. im just forming my own little timeline with my own ideas i guess, but i still want it to be canon adjacent So!

i believed that its taking place post SB, pre Ruin. which i was super happy with as i was worried it would be pre-SB and not give enough lore that i crave. however, just as ive seen some people say, this didnt help with the lore much, and it just got more confusing for me. still a fantastic game but from a lore point it doesnt give us anything too big or a conclusion (well. maybe one) i also saw people say its post ruin, which i dont agree with but i would agree with during ruin. (when ppl say cassie is the player, i dont think so, need more arguments) its unclear once people bring in other arguments than the obvious roxy's mask or the state of the pizzaplex. but basically as an afton believer its hard for me to work around this, but i will try. never back down never what?

so my hc is iykyk, scraptrap->man in the room->ghost/amalgamation->latching onto tech and the mimic in the form of glitch and burntrap->mimic "shedding" him->wills ghost forming mxes; it also works without the frights books but the afton amalgamation and everything around it is too cool to not use. i fucking love ruinborn afton graaaaah *tears shirt apart* i also liked the idea of his spirit shattering and a piece of it forming glitchtrap for years, and i believe it can coexist with mimic, i think burntrap was real and is both mimic and afton.

now. this game. really messing it up for me as glitchtrap existing post or during burntrap just doesnt make sense, i dont want -trap multiples or something (sounds like the years old 2-3 purple guys theory lmao) but i will look into it as glitchtrap and mxes connection..? honestly, i really expected getting to see burntrap here (or at least mimic shown). was burntrap like retconned or something for real??? also still dont understand when people say burntrap isnt the mimic or whatever. no, it is, just with something a little extra on. and that extra is again, wills ghost or remnant or whatever you wanna call it, symbolized by the bonnie parts on his endo, but theres also flesh so yeah, as funny as it sounds i fuck with the afton homunculus growing over mimic theory. its stupid enough, he would do it.

but i wanna focus on mxes, i knew we wouldnt see the entity in the game, didnt expect it. but i also didnt expect the system to show up, which it did, but obviously not the entity yet as i believe they were formed only after burntrap has been "scooped" by tangle (comparing the scooper mimic ending and the burntrap one as a parallel) i just dont understand how glitchtrap is in here. thats the thing i cant figure out! this is 100% post SB so at that point glitchtrap is just gone. how did we get him back now? only ends up with me reaching with like MEGA SPOILERS the vanny ending crushing glitchtrap being a metaphor of her locking away or deleting the code. extreme reaching would be stuffing it into the mxes system where glitch would turn into the entity. but thats way too loose, but ive seen many people call the mxes entity glitchtrap, which doesnt even work with their theory that glitchtrap is mimic, because the entity is obviously not the mimic. like you have to consider this too, not just mimicmimicmimic but then agree that a glitchy rabbit is similar to another glitchy rabbit

also im intrigued by the fallfest showing up again, i really want to see how the maps look and look at all the details.. but in general the area is either underneath or next to the pizzaplex, the body of water in curse of dreadbear imo is the same as the underground water in ruin and hw2 to me confirmed that it truly is all in one place (goes nowhere with this). i love how the hw2 hub is in the pizzasim building. also, another thing, need to check it out again but i want to see if scrap baby is in a vr level or reality so i can theorize about scraptrap, as in, if at least tangle and scrap baby are still around and real in the plex, it would make sense for scraptrap to not show up because he has gone through digitization /j you know the whole pipeline. and so on and so forth

I saw some discussion about Shadowheart's path, if Tav/Your character is dead when she confronts the Nightsong she will kill her 100% of the time. Saying that this is her "true" path and what she wants, how she only stops due to your presence. The DJ end is her "best" end due to her being confident and fulfilled, how she is actual quite an evil character due to torture etc. How it fits the lore better

All I can politely say is that I'm glad I isolate myself from most fandom spaces for this game, because this is a doozy.

She has to be memory wiped so many times because of how often she drifts back to questioning Sharran teachings and just being Very Bad at it. So I don't really buy "100%" of the time, but that's also because I personally believe nobody has absolute certainty in their morals and faith that certain situations wouldn't test.

There's kind of a whole section about that in the Shadowfell.

I don't even want to touch the Tav/PC comment. That's a barrel of worms that isn't worth opening.

For some folks, I think they just want something against the grain or not "typical" and so they naturally gravitate towards things like the Dark Justiciar ending. It's a different kind of wish fulfillment fantasy for them.

"I can make her worse" and all that. I don't think the reason people like that ending is because it's good for her lmao.

Long ramble while I'm on break ahead.

That said, a lot of people need to relearn critical thinking and practice emotional skills. Or they need to watch the full story side-by-side on both paths, because some of this shit is so blatant it's fascinating how some folks miss it.

I think assuming the A -> B -> C of "oh, she's a Sharran so she would strive to become a Dark Justiciar, there is no alternative character explanation for/against that" is a simple-minded approach.

It also, in my opinion, restricts people into very fundamentalist-adjacent viewpoints and thoughts. If someone was made to believe without a shadow of a doubt that they were born X way, or behaved Y way for Z years, then they must be that person forever and always. No, it doesn't work like that lol.

There's also no true path in this game until/if there's a sequel, because there's too many paths the characters can take. I use a lot of "I" statements and say "this is a theory/extratextual" in my opinions for that reason.

Aside #1: It's also why I take a lot of umbrage with anyone that says there's canon ships, or that there's ships that "obviously would happen." Maybe? Maybe not? It's just silly and far too self-restricting for no good reason. I get if you just want to ship one thing, but you don't have to justify it lol. Enjoy what you enjoy, but don't try to strongarm it into "canon" that doesn't really exist.

And saying it's "what she wants" and that she is confident and fulfilled is a load of shit lmao.

You (the royal you, not you, anon) have to have negative reading comprehension to put Shadowheart down that path and be like, "yeah, she loves this." It's so typical of an abuse victim to try and appease her abuser, and the Dark Justiciar route is her indulging in that. But to hear her lines in the romance afterwards, about how she can't really love the PC, combined with how she has to deal with her parents and how she retreats from being open about herself to being cold and distant once more...?

To say it's "right" for her is absolutely wild, and I despise the thought that there can't be happy endings or we can't want her to have a happy ending. I love fucked up stories with miserable endings, but I also love warm stories with joy and love and redemption at the end of it all.

It's also a massively surface-level read to say it's anything she wants. Sometimes people push themselves down paths they don't know how to retreat from, and the ends are often horrifying.

Aside #2: It's the same as if you cheat on her with Mizora. Like, she might be OK with relationships that are non-monogamous (if the player is) but the way the VA and writing and mocap combined in that scene make it painfully obvious that she is just trying to appease you to keep the relationship intact. Supremely typical abused person behavior, but now the PC is the abuser instead. Seeing people comment that she's OK with the Mizora situation is head-on-backwards level misreading.

She has done evil deeds in her past, sure. I think if you blanket claim she cannot be redeemed, you're going into some wild territory at the logical conclusion of that one. Her circumstances also alter how we interpret her past as well, and I think it intersects with my belief that compassion is a learned skill that not everyone cultivates.

Not to mention that everyone in the BG3 cast can be turned "evil" or at least made to do dark shit. "One True Way" types will never understand that there is a multitude of experiences, and it translates to this game as well.

The lore?

Lol. Lmao even.

We know who the "real" Shadowheart is, but in some universes she destroys that person in order to foolishly seek approval from her abuser/goddess. In others, in mine for example, she abandons that goddess to embrace the person she's been forced to hide.

So yeah, my ultimate response to "Dark Justiciar Shadowheart is the real Shadowheart" is a big, wet fart noise.

Satoru shields a hand—and himself—against dank, bloodspill red rays of supposed-to-be-sunlight. He squints, for the second time in very short—a novelty—as he slowly treks up a quasi-path in sand that’s less sand, more earth-adjacent carnage. There’s as much splintered rock and powdered mineral, weighed down by radioactive algae, as there is—

Bone. Satoru didn’t pay all that much attention to any of his number of biology classes, but via this or the other, he knows that he just stepped clean through the porous curve of a partial ilium crest. 

Bone. And calcified curse. Whoever’s pelvis he just crushed beneath the heel of his boot is fifty fifty, somehow. Curses have weight to them: Satoru doesn’t mean that in an abstract, flighty sense; curses weigh literal kilos, if realized enough. And this bit of so old it’s become brittle-bone isn’t brittle because it doesn’t have the amassed density of dense bone mineral and weighty curse—

It’s brittle because the curse which blankets the very atmosphere—and by extension Satoru—like the incredible opposite of stepping out into balmy, subtropical climate after so long breathing recycled air on long flight, is so much heavier.

Satoru swallows against a parched throat he hadn’t realized was this dry. Bile amasses sour at the back of his tongue. He’s not so naïve as to not believe his eyes; they’ve never deceived him, though he has admittedly, a scant number of times, seen only a partial piece when he’s supposed to have zoomed out, regarded the whole frame. So he won’t do himself the discourtesy of cowering for what he is indeed seeing, right now, either.

Wherever he is might be Tokyo; might be Japan. It might not be. The thought occurs to him that there might be no such thing as ‘Japan’ at this point.

He scuffs a toe in the wet kind of-sand. At least the ocean remains a steady, squalling, sucking depth of blue-grey-black: a constant. He puts a cupped palm to shield his eyes as he scans his immediate surroundings: the carnage-filled slope of the once-beach hitches up into a small rock jut. Satoru climbs it with wary, though loping steps. Can’t reach the peak far enough, just as he can’t wait to wake up, startled out of horrid, nightmarish slumber by his senses wavering, flickering out of active guard for a millisecond.

Fucking ironic, how being imprisoned in an alternate dimension, whilst your comrades are no doubt slaughtered, picked off one by one on the outside, can apparently measure up and beyond to a certain iteration of reality.

The world beyond Satoru’s meager outlook spot, for lack of actual, original words, looks like a most fleshed out iteration of Ducasse’s juxtaposed sewing machine and an umbrella, flayed bare and egregiously stitched together, there on the dissecting table. A subcutaneous fissure in the earth yawns wide and open ahead of him, having broken through what was once maybe an inlaid asphalt road, which might’ve bisected the dry landscape, made it into something traversable. Farther ahead, vines have staked their claim on man made structures: lampposts and road signs lilt askew, overgrown now and mostly impossible to identify by cursory glance alone. To his left, far up ahead, a probable once upon a time-gas station has been half-gouged out of place, bits and pieces of the foundation strewn, alongside the disembodied hood of a car, and the shriveled spirals of torn-apart rubber, like so much collateral, structural shrapnel.

The air is heady and thick with curse. It’s invasive, and everywhere, muggy and humid; it fills his pores to the brim, snakes into his clothes, mingles so thoroughly with the oxygen that it might as well be one and the same.

Satoru doesn’t have the personality to become overwhelmed: whatever typical strains of reactionary, knee jerk, emotional responses might’ve once been ingrained into the core of him, he’s successfully whetted away over time. Has picked out, grasped between the thumb and pad of index finger, and ripped out by the root.

He sinks to a crouch by way of slow inching. Drops his weight until he’s dislodged most of his mass to be temporarily suspended in the aborted motion of balancing himself between the flat of his sole, and his knees. He puts his right hand to rest on top of his rocky underfoot, not in support, but to feel dense, solid earth under his knuckles as he tightens them. He dispels Infinity, in this instant giving less than a flying fuck about what might happen to him as a result of it, and digs his blunt fingernails into the meat of his palm until it breaks into gaping, blood pulsing lesions.

I just read TBBW and the other wolfblood stories and I am absolutely 100% blown away. your writing and world building is absolutely incredible and your mastery of each character and their relationships is something to be admired. like holy shit. one of my favorite parts is how you developed the werewolf lore so much -- I always thought they could do SO much better (and you did!!). ((also also I absolutely LOVE sam as a character, he's amazing and I love his interactions with everybody)) but question for you: how do (some) werewolves consider the curse a gift if the trigger is killing someone (in canon at least)? And your question! Funnily enough, this is going to be explored in more depth in the editing I've been doing to The Little Wolf...it's uh...not 11k anymore. [nervous laugher] More like...30k? Once I've finished it, I'll re-post, so watch out for that update.

ANYWAY as for my lore around the werewolf curse, I've had it in my head for a long time (hence me laying the groundwork in for TBBW, how it's gift, not a curse etc). There's a LOT to it, so let me try and explain in a coherent way:

So. First, the way the wolf is triggered is slightly different than canon. In my head, all that werewolf backstory (that came in I think in The Originals but don't quote me on that) where a witch cursed people to turn on a full moon after they themselves had killed someone, creating the werewolf species - is bullshit. That did not happen here. In TBBW and its related stories, werewolves evolved. Whether they started off as witches who meddled in shapeshifting magics, or simply evolved as an adjacent species to the human race I'll leave unclear (i feel that werewolves probably tell their children legends of how werewolves came first, man and wolves evolving from them lol, like their little own creation story). And like the scientific theory of evolution, werewolf packs have different traits/attributes because they reproduced with certain gene pools. Some are stronger, some are faster, some - like Lycaon and Klaus, werewolves from North America and Scandinavia (because the continents used to be joined, especially during the ice ages I think) - are larger, like Dire Wolves.

Now, my theory is, like I said, is that lycanthropy isn't a curse. It's sorta like a defence mechanism? So strong emotions of fear, anger, panic, anything that comes with trauma or what ignites that fight/flight instinct, coming of age even - that's what triggers it, what awakens the wolf and brings it forth and any death that happens because of that anger is merely a consequence, not a cause. Now obviously, hundreds of years ago, people didn't have an understanding of mental health or the idea of trauma, not really. I mean shellshock was a term more broadly used after the World Wars, which is barely 100 years ago. So, werewolves wouldn't have seen this scientific/logical reasoning behind it.

However, they also didn't believe it was merely taking a life that caused it. That reasoning, came from fear, people like Mikael who feared werewolves because of their power and strength. It's basically propaganda from the winning side of the feud between supernatural species. Like you said, werewolves believe it to be a gift. Perhaps even, a gift from the gods themselves.

In The Little Wolf it's going to be explained that they believe Death demands a sacrifice, but Death also doesn't care how that sacrifice is given. Yes, you can awaken the wolf if you kill a man. But you also awaken the wolf if you watch a family member die in front of you, grieving their loss. Furthermore, I always thought you also have to consider how killing someone a thousand years ago wasn't a horror or crime it is now. People killed to survive, to defend their families, even to prove their worth. I'm not talking about cold-blooded murder, but killing as warriors. Most cultures it was probably even an act of coming of age.

Here's a snippet from the The Little Wolf that probably explains it better, where young pack members are being initiated into Lycaon's pack:

The Alpha stared down at the young wolves, his eyes kind as he stood before them, assessing each of them in turn.  “Will you answer their call tonight?” He asked; a question for them and them alone. A chorus of ‘Aye’ answered him, the young wolves keeping their heads bowed. The Alpha nodded and turned, gesturing for an elder wolf-woman to step forward, her face wrinkled by time. In one of her hands hung a cluster of necklaces, each unique to its owner, and in the other, a bowl of blood, drawn from every member of the pack. The first, a silver trinket forged from the metal of the enemy’s sword he had slain. The second and third, necklaces made of small bones from the animal they had killed on their first hunt alone. The fourth, made of wooden beads that used to decorate necklaces adorning her mother’s breast, a possession of a relative recently lost. Many feared the wolf-men because of the way their wolves woke, satisfied only by Death herself. But what was little known, was Death did not discriminate. She did not care either way, if the death you witnessed was dealt by your own hand or by the cruelty of fate. The Alpha himself had befallen such a trial, his wolf woken the day of his father’s death, taken by the floods of a great storm that had robbed his mother of her mate. Death was Death, a notion that transcended all languages and cultures, timeless in its power and prestige. Just as there was a Beginning, there had to be an End. And only through seeing death, did one truly understand the nature of life.

Does that make any sense? Lol there's a lot to it (and tbf there's probably more I'm forgetting to say). Klaus, despite Mikael's abuse, never triggered the wolf for reasons that will be explained in The Little Wolf.

What inspires your Naruto fics? Huge fan!

I'm going to assume you mean all my smut lol, if not just ask again with whatever you mean in particular.

I mostly inspired by Dramione (Draco/Hermione from HP) fics. There's a lot of high quality smut that I feel like het Naruto fics with Naruto as the lead (outside some NaruHina fics) are lacking. And sometimes it's not even just quality but quantity. Dramione gets updated with smut like everyday and for sure every week, and we're lucky to get some Naruto/F smut on AO3 a few times a month I feel like. I'm a huge Naruto/Multishiper and it feels like slim pickings in general and especially for smut. I'm also the type that's not interested in adventure/action fics anymore. I like romance (and smut obviously!) and I felt it was hard to find those fics with, say, Naruto/Ino or even Naruto/Sakura. I got into a "Fine, I'll do it myself," mentality and here we are like 4 years later with like 200k words of smut lol.

But back to the inspiration, I usually read Dramione smut and think "That's really hot, I should try that with Naruto/whomever." Especially the bdsm aspect of my writing and Naruto being like a pleasure dom, that really comes from there.

Sometimes I watch porn or hentai or something and there's a striking visual aspect that I'm like "I need to turn this into smut," so there's that too. It can be challenging and that's a fun part of it too, like making sure this primarily visual experience comes of as hot/sexy in the written format.

My main motivation for writing, especially all this smut, is I feel like the PWP? (Plot? What Plot?) genre of smut is like dead or a dying breed for Naruto/F. Which is fine if no one else wants to write it, I'll do it lol. I do feel like my opinion is a scorching hot take, but a lot of times I'm not interested in 50K+ slowburn fics to read some smut! I also kind of want to expand from the purely mechanical/hentai implementation of smut for Naruto/F fics a lot of guys write. Not saying that I don't use some of that technique, but I don't want my "Naruto" to be a self-insert and I don't write him a such, he's meant to be as canon-adjacent as possible while writing all these different, interesting kinks. I love writing different pairings with him and different interactions.

Naruto Uzumaki is my favourite character, ever, and sometimes I get into the mindset that no one loves him except for me, lmao I know this is an insane thing to say, but the mindset is what lets me pump content. I really get into this zone like "Literally no one else will do this if I don't," and while 99% probably not true, like looking at all the content I produced, the breadth of my pairings and kinks, and maybe I'm not 100% tripping? Anyway this is my deep dark secret 😬

Gay sex jokes can be funny, tasteful and valid rep. But when it's all a show really delivers, there's definitely teasing of the only potential mlm couple (that nobody forced them to put in there; people shipping something they know is just a fun dynamic that won't go anywhere isn't that) and then going all "oh, but it's deeper than sexual™" and "I don't know if we're teasing it" is definitely... queerbait adjacent.

There are homophobes who are super comfortable watching this show to this day. They have an homophobic explanation for every single joke or hint we've enjoyed. It doesn't make it an homophobic show, of fucking course not, but it hasn't alienated the homophobic audience as much as you think. It probably will happen in season 4, but not yet.

Baiting the only mlm relationship when the only rep as for today are casual jokes is queerbait-adjacent. Going on unrelated weirdly sexual tangents when asked genuine questions about something even the press has read as text should leave a taste in your mouth, especially when compared to stuff that's been said before season 3 was a thing (and I'm willing to bet they're barely aware asexuality/demisexuality is a thing, if they've heard of it at all, so don't come for me). This doesn't feel like a "wait and see" type of answer, but ok, let's wait and see.

And if by the end of the show nandermo goes fully unaddressed (NOT CANON; the bar is as low as ADDRESSING it, I'll be ok with however it goes from there), I'm sorry, but I won't be as uwu about it as you are being.

I'm glad you feel seen and validated and like you're getting the rep you want, but when you consider how little risks the network is truly taking by doing stuff this way and how they'll definitely keep doing it in the future if they can get away with it... I mean, it's kind of insulting? I wouldn't give it a pass. I think it 100% would set a very unfortunate precedent.

(I know people are going to say "oh, but there's a lesbian couple in this other show, they're super ok with that". Cool. I promise you a board of guys with ties sat around a table to study every possible ramification of putting those lesbians in that drama or whatever. But you know what I want? More sitcoms with wild concepts and queer relationships. More sitcoms with queer relationships in general. If they can get away with baiting the only gay ship and still get praised for queer rep for jokes about how horny everybody is, expect most shows to handle it exactly like that. One is ok, sure, but there will be more and it'll get boring very quickly.)

wasted potential / didn't get enough screen time / they work better as part of a dynamic • his relationship with kaito is so funny. he heckles him """knowing""" that he's KID but has never actually 100% without-a-doubt, irrefutably confirmed it. he gets bamboozled every time but is just so dead set on it that he completely ignores kaito's repeated insistence that he isn't who he thinks he is and just continues to talk to him as if he's talking to KID and that's just hilarious to me. it's kind of like if conan never disclosed his identity as shinichi to heiji but heiji treats him like he does in current canon anyway. of these interactions by far the best one is the volunteering of valuable information to kaito in the middle of the chat noir heist as an under-the-table, backhanded sort of bidding of "good luck." it's a lesser mirroring of the relationship kaito has with conan - but arguably funnier since hakuba """knows""" the truth but conan does not (and likely does not care to, as it would not alter the dynamic). • the above, but now with the added hilarity of him being 1 of 3 members in a group of 4 (one of whom is JUST KAITO HIMSELF sksksk) who know that kaito moonlights as KID at the conclusion of MK1412. i'm a little mad this didn't continue like WHAT were they gonna do LMAO • adjacent to the above: his apparent (former? is he still into her?) infatuation with akako. obviously it's just/mostly a result of him being under her spell but it's so fucking funny that she still sort of notices him regardless. even if he is just a means to an end she calls upon him when kaito is in danger in sun halo, which is... wild?? akako is also member #2 of this KID group which makes this even funnier, deadASS what was the endgame of this group gonna be in practice LOLOL, everyone just uses everyone else as bait for something or other and the end goal of unmasking KID is just completely moot if 75% of them already know

• in the MK anime specials canon, hakuba has relatively little interest in capturing KID and instead uses him as bait iirc?? tbf they're all guilty of this in the MK1412 canon, but it rubs differently when spider is the prey they're trying to catch - different if only because he poses a legitimate threat to even kaito. even if he saves him before he's lost to the nightmare that's still something of a MASSIVE gamble, especially if both he and kaito combined are not much of a threat to spider T___T like this is like... how conan tends towards recklessness when the black organization is involved, including the disregard/failure to consider the full consequences of involving or using the people around him, villain or otherwise (pisco and itakura, at least, come to mind).

i don't really have much to say about them / i forgot this character existed (am i the biggest lying liar or nah. look at all this text) • despite all of this, that's kind of all i have to say about him. i didn't do my homework and am drawing purely on memory and that's a little hard when he makes so few appearances even in the MK canon(s). MK in general has a lot of wasted potential tho imo and i think that extends to its primary cast too, including hakuba. personally i think he's far too wacky to mesh well into detco canon, in the same way that detco kaito is not quite the same as MK kaito.

all in all i think hakuba, unlike his successor, is really not at all tolerable on his own and works infinitely better with practically anyone else in the ekoda gang (but mostly kaito, bc they are both proprietors of a part of the MK-brand of Shenanigans).

I’m reworking my one MoD!Harry AU. Details below the cut.

SO. Everything’s mostly canon (not cursed child compliant tho lmao), and Harry is officially Master of Death since he was the owner of all three hallows at the same time. This means, essentially, that he is now the personification/god of death.

Since Harry is Harry tho, he doesn’t want to live forever alone, and so his friends and family try to help him find a way to get out of it. There isn’t one. So he is, of course, resigned to living forever alone.

Except his friends decide “no, no thanks, we’re not letting you do this alone.” So when Harry dies and ‘ascends,’ his family and friends choose to ascend with him. He’s able to reach already dead souls using the stone, so Sirius also ends up making the choice to ascend too. The rest of the dead are content staying where they are.

(I have,,,, such a long list of who ascends and what they do and blah blah blah, but I’m not gonna get into it because it is….. so much. It’s truly just so much.)

The important thing is that the way this works is that the universe resets itself every so often, slightly different each time. And certain things carry through, like tales turning into mythos. Harry and his immortal (sometimes reincarnating) family, are the focus of several of these myths, including the harbingers of the apocalypse one.

So when his family meddles, it’s usually with those names, rather than their original ones. Which, when they interact with alternate incarnations of people they know, can cause some shenanigans.

What is actually depicted in your doodles?

Regulus,,,, listen he is my current blorbo and I just wanted to draw him, ok? The jegulus fandom got its teeth in me and now I’m thinking about Harry Potter stuff again. (Speaking of which! Fuck JKR.)

In this AU, he doesn’t ascend with everyone else, but instead ascends later during a whole thing that I will maybe actually write into a fic. Maybe.

Top left is just the first full body Regulus design I did. Dipping my toes in, you could say. Key things; he’s younger in this. Pre-ascension. He’s wearing slytherin’s locket for plot reasons.

Top middle is the Black brothers with their animagus forms behind them. And yes I made regulus’ a lion. Tbh I think he deserves it. He’s dangerous, lazy, proud, sneaky, and at the end he was really, really brave. I know lots of people make him a house cat, but like. If Sirius can have his star’s namesake as an animagus form, so can regulus.

Below that, we have Regulus saying “Potter?” While looking shocked. I won’t elaborate too much on this for plot reasons (in case I write the fic), BUT, this is the moment that he learns that Lily Luna is a Potter.

To the right of that is the brother hanging out and being cute and I love them. I just want them to reconcile and talk and be family again 😭. Also I want Sirius to have 100 little gay pins for his leather jacket. He deserves it.

Bottom left is Lily Luna and Regulus together. I this AU on particular, Regulus has a mentor/mentee and uncle adjacent relationship with her. They are cute, and I love them, and I won’t hear otherwise, sorry not sorry.

Bottom right is the only doodle I will give spoilers for. It’s post-ascension, where Regulus, Sirius, LilyLuna, and Teddy are all about to wreck some shit. The rest of the family jokingly calls them the “Grim Squad”, because all of them go out and hunt down wayward or death cheating souls. So if you see them, you’re their target, and will die. Just like the Grim thing.

Thoughts on the Galloper quests

Here we go again, folks. It’s long and there’s spoilers.

-“his wild hunt” is this a reference to the wild hunt of norse (and adjacent) mythology? Because there is a headless horseman in a version of that story

-Not Linda making camp next to the tower of regrets, the place all ghosts avoid according to Kasper, and also where ydris imprisoned galloper last year....

-Not Linda saying he’s “misunderstood” and then choosing the tower specifically to hide from him lmao

-I love how you can actually look through the telescope Linda has pointed at the keep and see Galloper when he’s in his spot.

-NAME CONFIRMATION IN GAME. GUNNAR THRYMSON IS OFFICIALLY CANON!

-...followed immediately by “nearly 900 years ago”. 1218–which is the absolute earliest he could have been executed on Jorvik—was 803 years ago. 800 and 900 are not the same number, and 803 is not “nearly 900”. And it doesn’t even make sense to say this in the context of the t*urs.

-“described as possessing a dark and brooding nature” lol

-This quest makes it clear that the jokes about his inability to find a horse were not jokes between Gunnar and his friends/colleagues, but rather unfriendly teasing and mockery, as I suspected. Linda’s 100% True Facts About Galloper Thompson were not as clear.

-So Galloper is a cruel nickname—allegedly—despite its original forms “old galloper” and “the galloper” being said to originate from folklore after his “death”. To quote the miner ghost (who, admittedly, seems to be one of the less reliable ghosts in the sea of unreliability): “His name...was never Galloper Thompson. ‘Old Galloper’ was a name given to him many years later by peasants who feared his sightings [...].” However, it does make sense with the mispronunciation of Thrymson that turned it into Thompson. Peasants many years later would only know “Thrymson” if that’s how he was referred to before the invention of “Galloper”.

-Without bringing in the contradictions of Galloper being a name given to him by his peers.. I think maybe when a person you hate and fear stands up after his own successful decapitation, you don’t use the name you came up with to mock him to refer to him anymore. Especially if you think he’s started to kill people. It seems to me that giving him a new name with less baggage would be the preferred option in that situation. Just my two cents here.

-The shire is a breed descended from English horses. I understand the limitations, though, as her current model is a shire and saying anything else would be contradictory. And I thought Gunnar came back from the east with her, not that she just “appeared”.

-Also it’s the “Mountains of Jor”, but that’s just me being nit-picky.

-He and his mare were inseparable 🥺

-One thing I really don’t like is that—the way it’s told—he seems to have risen in rank pretty late in Linda’s story, when before that happened early on after the Jarl took notice of his fighting during the sea battle. Here, there’s no event that preceded his promotion to be found. There’s also no mention of him being “freed”, or his title as huskarl specifically, and the things he did by order of the Jarl are relegated to “great tasks”. It establishes how loyal he was to Jon, yes, but how awful the tasks were and how reluctant he was to follow through on them are not mentioned, despite their importance to defining parts of Gunnar’s character.

-There’s also no clarification on when the social exclusion started (before or after the witch), when he encountered the witch, or whether he accepted the witch’s gift at all. And the battle of Jarlaheim is treated as a footnote in his story, rather than the very thing that began the journey to the execution block. It was originally this battle that turned dislike to hatred, and created suspicion about his nature, leading ultimately to the splitting of the runestone and his subsequent execution for treason. It seems that, here, it was his rise in rank that led to his execution.

-I would like to point out that star stable might have realized how improbable it is for any battle to have only one survivor and changed the story so that his promotion would lead to hatred instead of the really unlikely result of a battle. However, the fact that no new driving event to this promotion was given makes the change more of a downgrade. And it erases his much regretted role as JJ’s enforcer, since the execution came pretty soon after the outright hatred began. I wish this had been elaborated on and clarified, or just thought out more. Or even just fixing and clarifying the original events that lead to the execution would have been great.

-It also ignores the fact that he wouldn’t have met the witch in the first place if he wasn’t of high rank early on.

-I hope his “alleged crimes” are not related to the rumors of magic because again, his alleged crime was treason for sabotaging the Jarl’s quest to gain immortality. Or at least, that’s how it’s been told since 2018 with the introduction of the keep and its ghosts. The problem for the Jarl was never the witchcraft, it was that he didn’t get immortality, and when he ordered the gift brought to him, it looked like his subject disobeyed and tricked him. He was brought before the Jarl to answer to the rumors, but the crime he was executed for was perceived betrayal. Remember, this was before the witch craze that plagued the 15th (14th at the earliest) century and beyond.

-Jon Jarl is described as both a Jarl and a King. Again. It happens repeatedly, and with no explanation.

-“his bond with the Jarl [...] stemmed from a powerful witch from the Devil’s Gap”??? Excuse me? There is no way Gunnar’s (probably mostly one-sided tbh) best-friendship with the Jarl had anything to do with the witch. This is the worst thing I’ve seen all day. I really hope this is a mistake.

-His strength, though... Does/did he have some level of super strength?

-“Riding across the night sky”. Is that a joke? Is Galloper Thompson Santa Claus? Is his mare Santa’s newest reindeer, Biter? No, no it’s not a joke. I had hoped the first instance—which was before Linda even entered the keep—was some kind of one time weird comment to analyze at a later date, but it’s stated repeatedly and seriously that Galloper Thompson rides his horse across the sky. I’ve changed my mind, this is the worst thing I’ve seen all day.

-“Maybe we can find out what happened that drove Galloper and Jon Jarl apart!” Umm, Linda. They were driven apart because one killed/tried to kill the other. The Jarl thought Gunnar betrayed him, and, rather than give his incredibly loyal servant and friend the benefit of the doubt for what was actually a minor (perceived) crime, he had him executed for treason. And the rumors started the whole thing. You just told this story, Linda.

-Linda, Galloper’s not going to kill you. I thought you knew he was misunderstood, why are you behaving this way?

-“Something seemed off about Galloper! More off than usual at least.” I’m really not appreciating this.

-Hey this is where he allegedly trampled that little girl! Anyways

-You know, I’ve always been curious about brokentooth island, and wondered about whether it’s connected to Galloper. I never thought it actually would be, though, let alone that it was his stable, and this raises questions. Did JJ and his family take over the island Gunnar lived on, or was it always the Jarl’s? What exactly is the history of paddock island? And what was brokentooth island meant to be originally, since it was introduced before Galloper?

-“Young man”. What exactly is Gunnar’s age? And how did the curse effect his aging? And what’s the timeline here? Is it still about 10 years or what?

-I really hope Gunnar’s green eyes aren’t the same color as his neck hole. Because then it’s like no wonder everyone hated him, his eyes were a color that hadn’t even been invented yet.

-Do the sparks coming out of his head in the memory have any meaning besides “this is Gunnar btw”?

-Not Gunnar with long hair when his decapitated head had short hair last year on the trail...

-His clothes were also different, but I’m not surprised since Galloper’s model is headless, so they had to use another one for the not-headless part. On the trail last year, his execution scene was paused between the chop and him standing up, so his own model was fine to be used.

-I’m surprised that it seems Gunnar had accepted his death/execution.. Considering both his extreme loyalty to Jon Jarl, and his confession of having immortality, it shocks me. I don’t think he would believe his friend would kill him so readily. Especially since the Jarl was known to have a temper and it’s acknowledged that he knew the source of the Jarl’s anger. But maybe his faith in the Jarl wasn’t that strong.

-I know this is a kid’s game, so they aren’t going to show it, but was there even a body left behind after the fire? Because if not, how do we know the mare died at all? “Screams of terror” isn’t a confirmation. The way Linda told it, the mare could have started the fire and/or used it to escape somehow. She could have died the way Gunnar did: not really, just being altered somehow. Linda even describes her death as a rebirth, and Gunnar’s not-death as “his death”.

-The Jarl’s “suspicions” of betrayal are mentioned, so maybe the old sequence of events is still in play. At least for this one part.

-Can we talk about how if you do this during the daytime it’s really funny? “Oh shit it’s that time of year again when GALLOPER THOMPSON FUCKING INVADES THE CITY IN BROAD DAYLIGHT”. And paddock island..the home of the Jarl’s direct descendants... the same Jarl that had him killed. I really hope this isn’t an annual ritual of his.

-“Everyone is hiding” no shit Linda I wonder why, a legend rumored to kill people that nobody thought was real is sitting on his hell horse in the city square!

-Derek is the only one left standing. Typical. He’s seen too much shit to run away from a headless man. Well, him and the trainer.

-“Memories Lost to Jarle-time”. Whoever did this I both hate and love you. But wouldn’t it be “Jarla-time”?

-“Metamorphosis of the Dark Horse and Rider” hmmm

-a block...high block..in the form of a tree stump....yes....hmmmm...much to think about..

-Wait, wait, wait. Hold on. Did he come straight from the stable to his execution? Generally, the trial is separate from the sentence being carried out, so was he just allowed to walk around anywhere he pleased after the trial? Is that why there was a random mob surrounding him and his mare, because he’d already been declared guilty? Did the Jarl let him go only to say goodbye, but trusted he would return to die? Or is star stable trying to say the trial and execution were one and the same? But then he knew to say goodbye, and the “place of execution” was already set up. Unless the Jarl was just cruel and made people stand before the execution block while he gave them their sentence. Can I get a rundown on the timeline here? This doesn’t make any sense.

-And then “Has he given up hope? No [...].” So then why the fuck did it seem like he did just that and accepted his death back at the stable? And again, what is the situation with the trial and execution?

-So he is glowing green under there! But why? And why did it start engulfing him after his headless body started moving? And what is the green glow exactly? And are we ever going to get answers about the words he said? Was his “gift” actually a spell and he really was technically guilty? When did he gain immortality and did he know? Star stable, answer me!

-Um he was stabbed at? Hello?

-The mare did not, in fact, run up any ramparts it seems. Unless of course, she did. Also she put her own tack on in between their deaths, and the blanket doesn’t seem tattered on her ghost.

-I don’t appreciate Linda referring to the mare as an “it”.

-“Galloping into the sky” I feel... rage.

-I thought it was fitting that his face was never revealed while going through the memories. (Even though it was sort of revealed on the trail ride last year)

-He and his mare were separated last year. Either Linda doesn’t know about what happened, or it’s not canon. The removal of that “on Jorvik” might not mean anything, though. They seemed very careful to make Linda say “on Jorvik” every time except for that one sentence.

-The three options for answering Linda have one different panel of dialogue each. To the notion that the witch extended Galloper’s immortality, Linda says it’s “possible, but did Galloper know?” then goes on to say he looked like he really thought she had died. When you answer that maybe their bond bound them to this world, she says maybe, “but his bond with his mare must be different than the one the rest of us share with our horses”. Her most positive reaction is to the last option, which proposes that his horse holds the secret to his immortality. She says “that must have been why the Jarl was so furious to see that Galloper’s horse had died in the fire.” Interesting.

-“The Riderless Horse” lol

-The mare seems to be in some sort of trance, according to Linda. I joked before, but I wonder if the same trance came over Galloper and that’s why he was “off”. It would explain why he was riding around populated areas..

-“As if a task is nearly complete and rest is near”. This is interesting because 3 years ago, in his keep, there were multiple ghosts that said he wasn’t able to rest, and one that said he wandered Jorvik looking for a way to break the curse.

-The person in devil’s gap that the mare encounters uses the same icon as Magnus Steinar, a ghost. I wonder if the witch who cursed Gunnar is now a ghost, or what the deal is.

-The use of his real name by this figure is interesting, along with “task not yet complete”, “you cannot escape your gift”, “thwart our pact”, and “what we have done”. Very interesting.. Especially since just a moment ago, Linda said it seemed like a task was almost complete. I have many questions..

-Memories restored? Destiny restored??

-The name of the mare is Morrigan. After a quick google search I discovered “the Morrígan”, Irish goddess of war and death. Interesting, especially considering the game’s Celtic influences. I wonder if she told Gunnar her name, rather than the usual process of a name being given to a horse by their rider. If so, why didn’t she tell him again?

-It seemed Gunnar was there, just out of sight, since he was addressed by name.

-Blinded by rage? Even now? Interesting. It seems regrets over acting on that rage, and subsequent refusal to act on it further did not eliminate the amount of rage itself. I would have guessed it was at a simmer by now. In that case, I have even more admiration for his choice to spare ydris. That’s assuming last year’s quests are still somewhat canon, though. It seems the reminder of his task may have lessened that rage, since it was replaced by focus.

-His memory was allegedly messed with. We don’t know to what degree, or why he seemed perfectly capable of remembering what he did and regretted before and after “death” while locked in the tower last year. Star stable is allergic to consistency, though, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they decided to say one year “look at all these horrible things he remembers really well” and “he can’t remember shit” the next without thought. No hints about the extent of the memory loss, or if anything specifically was lost/taken (for instance, his memories of his mare and magical happenings may have been targeted, if star stable did this the smart way). I do appreciate the connection to Kasper’s intro to the keep, though. She says “the big cheese” (which I’m sure he loves being called) is “crazy forgetful” and she calls the race through his memories “scrambled”. It makes me wonder if his mare’s memories were also messed with..

-Last year, ydris said that the bond between Galloper and his mare was the strongest he’d ever seen. But Linda says it was just “cinders” and now it’s comparatively an “inferno”. Interesting. But the bond is 800 years old, so...

-The end? That’s it? The last week of Halloween starts next week, and no more quests are mentioned in the roadmap or the news article. Is this some sort of segue into exploring his story outside of his usual season? Or is the rest next week, or even next year? It would be interesting if they decided to introduce devil’s gap and the vala this way.

-No mention of his regretful deeds throughout the entire quest line. They better not be abandoning that part of the story..

-Star stable is consistent in one area, which is that what exactly Galloper Thompson is remains a mystery. His immortality is referred to several times within this quest, with no hints as to when he really acquired it or what it entails. At the same time, Linda refers to him as a spirit and a revenant (though she called him a revenant only once). The fact that he didn’t leave a body behind at the execution again indicates he’s not really a spirit—or at least not a typical spirit—and his alleged immortality would suggest the same thing. Linda’s claim that he waits “for the season when the barrier separating the living from the dead would weaken and allow him to cross” would indicate that he’s a spirit. Not to mention his ability to float and his and his mare’s ability to come up through the ground (I sense a post brewing..). But there are no answers to be found in this quest and he continues to be referred to simultaneously as a spirit who rides across the sky (I’ve decided to ignore the lapse in judgement that gave birth to this “riding across the sky” nonsense) and a man granted immortality.

-I’m hoping the slew of technical mistakes I noticed mean that both “900 years” and the one instance of “jarl’s” (rather than “the jarl’s”, which was used in all but one sentence) were both typos.

-The backstory of the keep and its surrounding islands remains a mystery

-No interactions with him at all. Sad.

Conclusion: A lot of bad things, mixed with a lot of good things. I now see the cost of these quests clearly.. Not as bad as the t*urs (the bar is in hell), but not as good as last year’s quests. I’m excited to see the rest of it.

The solution here, star stable, is, again, hire me. I will fix the things that need fixing with this, even make it better than you ever dreamed, all for the low, low cost of access to all your plans and secrets. No money required!

Postmortem rambling beneath the cut~

Woo! One week under my belt. I got six fics of seven that I wanted to post (as far as weeks go this month, there is a singular instance of Lennonesque week-to-day ratio fuckery toward the end when there's suddenly 10 days "in" a single week, lol). I made a last minute decision to cut my losses on Day 03 and deal with it when the spell slots become available. I think this first week was the most difficult to write for, but I'm still not entirely sure why, considering it's almost 10k.

I started writing for Danktober in the first week of September, when I finally got the Inktober prompts squared away. I found that organizing the ideas into groups helped me for a bit, when I was faced with 31 unstarted tasks. I had a few series-adjacent works planned (set in triptych, mesh network, puppy marcus, tentacle marcus, and farmer Joel to an extent), a few self-contained series (don't call me wifey and chernaboyfriend to be precise), and the rest were a mix of one-shots ranging from monsterfucking outside the realm of the PPCU (chernaboyfriend) to monsterfucking within the PPCU (tentacle marcus, max phillips) to just plain old mostly in-canon stories.

A few things here and there were ideas that managed to accept the process of getting smashed into the context of certain days' prompts, such as the wingfic coming in week 4, the khonshu sleep hypnosis fic in week 3, the reverse AU next week, and the idea for the omegaverse fic next week has been marinating for a while, but I rescued it from the brackish pondwater it had been sitting in. Other than that, I really like how this all came out. The editing process was fun, and I'm writing this all in Scrivener so I can get ample practice before NaNoWriMo (most likely gonna write Farmer Joel for that one, btw). I still have no idea how to compile things, so I've found a fairly-easy workaround to help me out lmao.

What went well? The process of posting was very smooth, I think due to my (probably) overkill planning and organizing. I'm never doing a challenge like this again without at least a month's prep. I think flunktober was only written max 2 weeks in advance, which is why I missed 7-10 days total out of 31.

What didn't go well? Obviously missing a day sucked, but I chalk that up to more of an unclear inspiration for the prompts (bat, boyfriend, stuck in the wall) than sheer laziness or even creative block.

What surprised you? The response to farmer Joel, honestly. I had no idea y'all would be so intrigued!! The feedback was fuckin incredible, and really really alleviated my anxieties surrounding the AU.

What didn't surprise you? Initially I planned to make little doodles inspired by the fics, but considering I'm still not actually finished with 100% of the prompts, it was an easy thing to drop. Maybe 2023 will be the year of Art Bailey. I haven't had a vested interest in making art since I was in high school, but who knows?

Which work did you like writing most? Difficult to say. I think finally putting words down for Chernabog was the most difficult to do, but also the most gratifying!! I loved building out their relationship and just daydreaming about alternative forms of communication with a nonverbal sentient species. Lackadaisical absurd humor is my bread butter meat potatoes and comfort zone, so getting to be real nonchalant about the fact he literally ate reader's actual fucking heart and sometimes temporarily kills her for fun tickled me. I think the obstacle of that initial hurdle is actually what stalled Day 3 - it's another Chernaboyfriend but quite a bit sexier.

What are you excited for about next week? LOTS of things but I'll just name two. The first bit of Farmer Joel I ever wrote is coming out tomorrow for Day 8 and it's sooooo atmospheric and mysterious. I'm in the middle of editing it right now and giving myself chills just rereading some parts of it. There's a few more farmer Joels getting posted on the 12th and 15th, with the rest of the works in that AU being in-universe outside of the main story, and they're non-spoilery for the most part unless you have a knack for deciphering foreshadowing and literary devices. The other work I'm excited to share is Alpha!Marcus Moreno, an idea that's been rattling around my mind like the dice in one of those lil pop-o-matic domes from the Trouble board game. Katee's commentary in the comments of that google doc gassed me up like a goddamn humvee.

fuck it bugsnax/s4m au notes

alternate title: i’m at that point in liking something where i have to combine it with everything else i’ve liked previously and today i’m making that everyone else’s problem. 

- base premise is a lil different! instead of being a journalist who was invited personally to the island by the expedition leader, you (or FK if you consider them a separate character from the player) are tasked with investigating the habitat, a budding commune on snaktooth island that may or may not be devolving into a cult. there’s just one teeny tiny problem - the commune’s leader and also your main suspect, boris habit, has been missing for weeks by the time you arrive. 

- now it’s a matter of gaining the inhabitants’ trust/getting them to come back to the habitat while hunting and subduing the bugsnax, who seem increasingly eager to launch themselves at inhabitants at quite literally dangerous speeds, in a battle of wits to keep your newfound companions fed while documenting the strange creatures. and of course, the question of just what happened to boris habit still lingers in the air. think like... talentless nana where the protag pretends to be all cute and unassuming (complete with flower motifs!) but really they’re there on Super Secret Spy Business. but of course there’s less murder. 

- oddly the bugsnax seem to have only become more aggressive after his disappearance. i’m sure it’s nothing. 

- yes everyone is still a grumpus

- there isn’t really an interview “mechanic” so much as it is a Lot of cozying up to everybody in pursuit of whatever information you can find on habit/potential group rituals/events that led to his disappearance; you get it by bits and pieces rather than a single structured interview. there is of course a lot more interactions between characters than there is in s4m’s base game bc thats like 60% of the appeal of bugsnax and i would be a fool not to think of it.

- time for ideas for specific characters! kamal is the vice-mayor of the habitat and has been habit’s right-hand grump for as long as any of the inhabitants can remember, despite their relationship becoming increasingly strained ever since their arrival on the island, and especially before habit’s disappearance. i imagine you still find him passed out but instead of collapsing from starvation he’s like "please.... toothpaste... a breath mint.... some pepto bismol. i’ve been able to taste my own breath for weeks." has been trying to divide his time between looking after the habitat and looking for habit himself (and also his best friend wallus) but the dispersal of the habitat has left him a tad Demoralized, to say the least.

- i feel like trencil would play a wambus-adjacent role in the sense that he's the one taking care of the sauce plants and also one of the first townspeople you meet. you convince to come back with you not necessarily bc he'd be able to continue farming in town but bc he would probably have an easier time looking for his daughter if he got some sleep first (but only if you look for her in his stead)

- gillis is like. a wannabe chandlo. makes you capture a bunch of snax that he Says he's gonna use to get stronger but eventually you find out he's been releasing them or keeping them in like lil makeshift pet houses bc he always takes one look at their big googly eyes and turns to mush. but EVERYONE'S eating them so naturally if they find out he's not they're gonna think he's some kinda wuss so he just pretends. 

- dallas keeps asking for sweet n colorful bugsnax to give to mirphy to impress her (sweetieflies, instabugs, etc etc.) but by some streak of bad luck they always end up being her least favorite. he tries to see if Maybe he can use them to make some new bugsnak-exclusive pigments, but like in canon they always end up turning into mush before he can get very far. mirphy meanwhile is far more interested in preserving them for a potential display, but similar to dallas, she never gets very far.

- i imagine the kid habiticians are like. a roving band of semi-feral children bc if anyone's gonna keep them in town it's definitely not kamal.

- i wanna do something with wallus SO BAD like you find him somewhere up in frosted peak but i have no idea what he would even DO its fucking killing me

- those are all the ideas i have For Now; s4m has more characters than bugsnax so there’s a lot to be done w/ them lmao. if i think of any more i’ll probably put it in another post or if anybody wants to spitball with me.......  👀

- and now we get to The Big Guns: habit.

- he was fun to work on w/ this au mostly bc despite being the rough equivalent of lizbert he’s a way different type of flawed leader than her; where liz is responsible to the point of martyring herself without a second thought and not thinking to delegate any tasks to the other snaxburg residents, which is what ultimately causes them to fall apart once she disappears, habit's deal is that he wants the position and appearance of an authority figure because it'll keep him safe, but he kind of sucks at taking responsibility for anything he does wrong because he’s spent most of his life acting according to what other people (namely his family) expect of him and being met with a negative reception no matter what, so he doesn’t really believe he has power over anything, including his own actions, despite being such a control freak for most of his own game. so his arc would need something that’s kind of antithetical to what liz had, wouldn’t it?

- so what i got so far is that au habit was tryin to covertly start a bugsnax cult bc he sees being asborbed by the snax as a sort of ascension and was eventually planning to have everyone be absorbed; it’s important to note however that bc information on bugsnax is so obscure he doesn’t actually 100% know how absorption works so tl;dr: habit became the bugsnax monarch willingly and then 5 seconds later he was like "oh no wait this fucking sucks. what have i done. shit. fuck."

- unable to cope with the realization that he was once again forced to act in accordance to someone (or in this case something) else's desires, he shuts down emotionally, becoming an empty husk of a grumpus while the bugsnax above run rampant thanks to the extra fuel and absolutely no restrictions until the Big Climax when habit is finally moved to take back control of the snax and by proxy Take Some Fucking Responsibility for knowingly luring people to cthulhu island. however this does leave the obvious question of if he was such an empty shell for most of the game why didn’t they just. eat him.

- the answer i eventually landed on was that his self-preservation instincts were still kicking on a subconscious level and during the aforementioned climax he eventually realizes that he does not in fact want to die, he just doesn’t want to keep living the way he is now (as part of an ancient hivemind beyond his understanding) or the way he was before (you know.)

- also fun fact: i was thinking about what his monarch body would be based off of bc the snakdragon, while cool as shit, didn’t feel right for him, and then i remembered that blooming onions exist. i imagine he’s in the middle acting as the flower’s “stigma”

- as for endings i’m thinking like. in the neutral ending kamal joins habit but its left ambiguous whether or not they'll ever be able to leave the island or if this is even a permanent solution (call that the paw in unloveable paw ending). in the good ending you bust habit outta his queen body after fending off enough bugsnax together and it’s super gross bc the undersnax as a whole is super gross but hey at least everyone’s leaving alive. i don’t know what a bad ending entails except most if not all of the cast is dead and habit is left alone on the island surrounded by reminders of his spectacular failure.

- hell i can even think of a sequel hook for the good ending like in canon bugsnax; some time after the ending/credits you ask habit just Where did he get the information on bugsnax that led to him being like “you could make a religion out of this” and the screen fades to black before you hear his answer. there.

- its almost midnight.
