Branches of a timeline

It was six AM when Marinette woke up in a cold sweat and with tears in her eyes. It had worked, and the awful nightmare she just had was just proving her theory. Without wasting any second, just throwing on the least atrocious outfit she could find in two minutes, she decided to transform. She had to do this, even though she hated the idea with her whole heart. Ladybug swallowed her bile and fled out of her balcony.

Ladybug rushed to Alix’s house, sprinting through the buildings of Paris with her yo-yo and a face of pure terror. Her eyes were bulging and her skin was as pale as porcelain: from her face, one would’ve thought it was the end of the World. And they wouldn’t be too far off, just not in the way any of them could ever be expecting.

Truth was that she had managed to contact the creator of the miraculi through her kwagatama. And the mage had terrible, terrible news to share, when she finally did.

“We need to go back in time, now!” she screamed at the girl, who looked at her like she was seeing someone being possessed by demons.

“Calm down girl, I just woke up,” replied the girl, holding out a carrot for her kwami to feed.

“I know, I know, it’s just… I think this is really the end for all of us,” Ladybug explained briefly. The more details she was going to tell, the worst it would be to actually convince the girl to help.

“What is it? Has Hawkmoth come back from the dead?” Alix asked, putting on a pair of jeans. Couldn’t this wait at least until after breakfast.

“There’s a problem in the timeline… it’s bad. Somehow, the entire timeline is wrong. I’ve seen it,” the hero explained with a broken voice. It’s hard to explain such things, things that are bigger than the cosmos.

“Go on.”

Ladybug looked away as Alix put on a shirt. “First, let’s get into the Burrow.”

Alix nodded in understanding, finally calling on her transformation. As the two entered into the ring of light, Marinette took a look around Alix’s room, knowing that it was the last thing she will ever see in this life.

“So?” Bunny asked, with her arms crossed. She really was starving, and she would’ve appreciated if the hero could’ve waited for her to have breakfast.

“Look, I’m going to sound insane. But you know that the miraculi work in mysterious ways, and so I’ve been able to contact the original creator. The first mage who forged the miraculi and all the other powers,” Ladybug started explaining, her hands gesturing around nervously, like she couldn’t contain her nerves in her body.

Bunnyx nodded in acknowledgment. Ladybug took another deep breath.

“He told me that making the gods and the humans interact was a terrible idea. He explained that the fact that the miraculi exist is the reason why we are doomed. That’s because the miraculi are a temporal loop problem: there will be someone in the future who’s going to come back to the creator and teach him how to make them, after he learned what Hawmoth had done. The miraculi existing is a testament to human hubris and stupidity, and the multiverse is going to pay, unless we stop it now!” Ladybug had tears in her eyes, but she didn’t notice. There was a more urgent matter at hand.

Bunnyx looked at her with a sorrowful expression on her face. The gravity of the situation was dooming on her now, and she put a hand to her heart. “B-but that means…”

“… That the current universe we’re living in is going to get destroyed, I know. But we are standing on a paradox, and it’s either now or when it will be too late. You know how dangerous paradoxes are for the multiverse,” continued Ladybug for her.

“How do we do this without creating more paradoxes?” Bunnyx asked.

“We need to go into the future, when the butterfly miraculous holder’s disciple will be tasked to go back in time and teach the mage how to forge the miraculi. Then, we will simply need to block his entrance to the Burrow somehow,” Ladybug explained.

“Sounds like a plan,” said Bunnyx, not entirely convinced about all of this. It was basically a death sentence, but it was either this way or in a much more scenic, awfully disastrous way.

Ladybug pointed at one of the windows, and Bunnyx got closer, rewinding what was going to happen.

The year was 2035, and an older Chris Lahiffe was being sent by a masked woman back in time. For some reason, the brother of their classmate had the rabbit miraculous.

Bunnyx opened the portal, and the two teens showed up in the strange, underground room. As they looked around to pinpoint the location of the young man, they were welcomed by an “old friend”.

“How many years! It’s a pleasure to finally see you again, dark wings fall!”

In front of them was unmistakably Lila, she had been the one to order to Chris to go back in time and ensure that the miraculi could exist. Ladybug tied her up in her yo-yo.

“Fucking piece of trash, of course it could only be you to cause such an awful amount of damage, order him to stop!” She screamed at the top of her lungs.

“Oh, silly. Do you really think I can control him?” the woman replied, with a mocking expression that made Marinette want nothing more than to punch her in the face.

With Lila tied up to her throne, Ladybug and Bunnyx sprinted toward the guy, who had been trying his hardest to understand how the magical clock worked.

They reached him just in time, pulling him back from the portal that would've sent him back in time. Bunnyx gave him a well-assessed hit with her umbrella. "Sorry, Chris," Ladybug said, panting heavily, "The future of the universe depends on this."

Ladybug grabbed the clock from his hands and shot it to the ground, at the same time as Alix did hers. As the two clocks became unusable, the ground behind them started trembling.

Marinette undid her transformation and ran to hug Alix. Tears strolled down their cheeks.

Marinette’s limbs started disappearing into thin air. “It worked,” she whispered, filled with pride, fear and dread. She tried to hug Alix tighter.

Catharsis. Purification. Everything turns white, like in the burrow. Mistakes and errors all wash away as everything gets corrected once more: it has happened a million times, it happens this time too. As the two girls watched each other disappear, the world around them crumble and their stories become nothing more than a possibility in another multiverse entirely, they smiled through the tears.

“I won’t forget you, in any universe,” said Marinette, putting her forehead against the head of the girl.

“You’ll be my hero in every universe,” replied Alix.

Then, it was all white.

Marinette wakes up in her bedroom, opening her eye to see a ray of sunlight come through the roller shutter. It’s just another saturday.

As she walks down the stair into the kitchen, her mother is making breakfast and watching the TV. Her father is intently looking at the newspaper for the latest football news, doing so just to procrastinate having to mow the lawn.

“Good morning sweetie. Did Theo wake up yet?” her maman asks, putting the moka on the stove.

“Mister sleepyhead wouldn’t wake up if an atomic bomb was dropped near him,” Marinette says, serving herself some juice.

“Did you sleep well?” asks her father, his eyes glued to the last PSG match on the paper.

A small smile actually forms on her lips. “You wouldn’t believe the dream I had tonight!”

How does time and time travel work with the bunny miraculous?(an unbiased opinion)

In "Evolution", when Bunny Noir uses the bunny miraculous power multiple times, we discover that its power is not easily affected by the flow of regular time and can be used multiple times until the holder feels their ready to de-transform and give Fluff a break, as such, even the younger holders are not restricted by the one time use limitation before de-transforming.

Unfortunately, this perk is not without its consequences as it is revealed that the holder will suffer side effects from using the bunny miraculous after a prolonged period of time, such as talking backwards temporarily. But aside from this, “Evolution” had additionally provided more insight to how time and time travel works in this universe.

When Ladybug and Cat Noir are guided through the burrow to stop Monarch from obtaining the miraculous in the past, Monarch is at first unaware that the heroes were aided by future Bunnyx to capture him, but additionally becomes confused over why they were able to stop him, if he was the one who used the bunny miraculous to travel through time before anyone. After all, there was no one else in the burrow when he entered it, so naturally he took delight in believing he was now in full control of the burrow and could now travel through time without any interruptions. However, after he was forced back into the burrow, Bunnyx reveals that his understanding of such power is not how the burrow and the bunny miraculous work, calling him an amateur for believing time was now his alone to do what he wanted.

Bunnyx states, “The burrow is like a car and we both got the key”, meaning that although Monarch possesses the bunny miraculous, it never meant he was the only one who could use the burrow to observe the various points in time and travel to them. The burrow(car) is a pocket dimension that can only be accessible through the bunny miraculous(key).

Bunnyx and Monarch both have the key to open the burrow because their is more than one bunny miraculous(key) capable of existing at the same time, without causing any major changes to the flow of time.

Back in "Timetagger", there were three bunny miraculous existing at the same time: one was with future Alix, but was damaged, the second was with young Alix and the third was in the miracle box back with Fu. Near the end of "Timetagger", future Bunnyx took two of the bunny miraculous: one was hers which would be taken back in time where she would raise an orphan(her descendant) and have it be passed down the family tree, until it would be once again left with her younger self in "Time Breaker", the other watch future Alix had would be likely left in the far distant future so it could be entrusted to a new holder, the day Alix was ready to retire.

But regardless of how many bunny miraculous are seen in the show, there can only be one Burrow for all of the holders to use, it is the one car they must all share to access the flow of time. So if a bunny miraculous holder is not in the burrow and is instead outside in the time stream again, then they just as easily become part of that time stream for the other bunny miraculous holder (who is still in the burrow) to control and work time around. Which is why in “Evolution, Bunnyx was able to locate, rewind and pull Monarch away from the moment in "Lady wifi", even while he came so close to taking Ladybugs earrings.

If anyone doesn't have a key, aka the bunny miraculous, then they cant use the burrow, meaning they just stay trapped inside, limited to only looking through the many portals presenting various points in time from various streams.

The car and key explanation was future Bunnyx's more simpler way of explaining how the power of the bunny miraculous works, however, her more in depth explanation better reveals what happened in previous episodes and how time and time travel is set up in their universe .

According to future Bunnyx, “Time is like a river with multiple streams and the burrow is where they all come together." To put it simply, their flow of time is as she described, a river with multiple streams.

The miraculous universe has a flowing river of time, however, there is also an infinite number of time streams flowing into it, these streams can be easily observed within the burrow in the various portals to see past, present and future events from various streams all at the same time, the burrow is after all, the one place where everything comes together.

Each of these streams timelines are not indifferent to each other, they all have the same series of events going on, and they must all have the same timeline in order to keep the flow of time on the right track and running smoothly. If any time travel is involved to change anything, then it will often times be for the better of things or simply be something that needed to and was going to happen to keep time in order. However, if Bunnyx detects an abnormal occurrence in the flow of time, she knows that something different happened in one stream to change the events of its timeline. This anomaly will inevitably flow into the rest of the streams if its not fixed. Each individual stream will gradually change into a new timeline, but the future is not yet set in stone so long as these changes have yet to fully alter their entire flow of time, their river.

In "Cat Blanc", when Bunnyx took Ladybug to another portal in the burrow to face Cat Blanc, she took her to a point in time within another stream where the anomaly( which was Ladybug writing her real name on Adrien's gift) had already taken effect and led to the destruction of Paris and its citizens.

When Bunnyx left Ladybug in one stream, her appearance in Cat Blanc's future gradually flowed into the other streams, which is why Bunnyx was able to switch from one portal to the other. Bunnyx could observe Ladybug and Cat Blanc in one stream, rewind to investigate the events before their fight, and then look into another portal where the same anomaly had already flowed into its timeline, in order to continue observing Ladybug and Cat Blanc’s fight.

However, just as we saw in "Time Tagger", when people were thrown into various points in the past, we see that the changes in the timeline of the streams are not necessarily instantaneous. Because there are so many streams, it does take a bit for any negative changes to become permanent, those changes could be severe or they could pose little to no threat to the flow of time.

As Timetagger went rampant, the heroes noted the changes in history within the museum as a person was thrown into the past. The people Timetagger sent to the past did not yet pose much of a threat to the timeline, but the heroes needed to return them to the present rather than wait and see how their entire world would be fully altered as more people were sent to the past.

Each stream can still remain relatively the same but quickly change the more a major anomaly is left unresolved, which is why future Bunnyx was still able to exist in “Cat Blanc” despite her younger self being obliterated by Cat Blanc in other streams.

Thanks to the bunny miraculous abilities, Future Bunnyx was unaffected by regular time and could remain in a state where she would always be the farthest down the river. Nothing bad happened to her yet as she remained in the burrow and attempted to resolve the anomaly that caused such a change to the other streams, but gradually, even she began to face the effects.

She lost the toy she won in a bet against Rose and parts of her body were beginning to fade out of existence, time was catching up to her fast. But despite all of this, they still had a chance to fix everything, she didn't need to fix all the streams that were affected, she only needed to fix one stream that was altered by the anomaly, once that was done, those changes would gradually flow into the rest of the streams, repairing the timelines and allowing the flow of time to return to its original course.

But just like Bunnyx said at the beginning of "Cat Blanc", if Ladybug capturing the akuma failed to fix everything, then she had to be in the burrow to figure out another plan. When Bunnyx realized Marinette and Adrien discovering each others identities was what led to such a tragic event, she saw the portal in front of her fade out and display a static, hinting that something horrible happened in the streams timeline that led to its destruction,

this was of course, Cat Blanc obliterating the entire world with his power. As Bunnyx looked to the other portal, she watched in horror as it to had switched to a static image, and as she saw more and more portals change to the same image, she knew that something happened during Cat Blanc and Ladybugs fight that led to the destruction of the world, and in turn, the destruction of the stream.

The destruction of the world had now gradually begun to flow into other streams, as a result, she could see other portals displaying the same static one after another, but not all at once. Bunnyx didn't realize yet what Cat Blanc was about to do until she continued to observe Ladybug and Cat Blanc fight in another portal where the stream had yet to disappear. Despite their worlds closing doom, there was still a chance to fix everything so long as the destruction of their world did not contaminate all the streams and reach their river of time. If it did, then everything would be over, the changes would be permanent, all the streams would cease to exist and Bunnyx would in turn cease to exist just like everything else.

Now, even though Ladybug did de-akumatize Cat Blanc, she and Bunnyx knew that even if the miraculous ladybugs repaired the world, Cat Noir would still remember who she was. Cat Noir remembering Ladybug's identity meant the anomaly was still present, and so long as it was, all the streams would continue to collapse.

Bunnyx didn't know what the anomaly was yet, but thankfully, Ladybug realized the anomaly was writing her real name on Adrien's gift. By erasing her name and by unleashing her miraculous ladybugs, the time line gradually began to repair itself. In turn, those changes, began to flow down towards the other streams, and towards their river, thus restoring the flow of time.

Ladybug could still remember the events of "Cat Blanc", despite it being repaired, simply because she wasn't left in the timeline to experience what led up to Cat Noirs akumatization. Ladybug was taken by Bunnyx to face Cat Blanc in another stream and helped figure out how to repair everything, this was now all she knew no matter what stream she was encountered in.

And so, in "Evolution", when Ladybug saw Monarch in one of the burrows portals, during her fight against Lady Wifi, Ladybug says she doesn't remember Monarch appearing in the midst of such a moment, to which Bunnyx explains that its what WILL happen if they don't stop him.

Bunnyx said at the beginning that traveling to the past can have serious consequences on the present, not the future, and this was mainly because she didn't know what would happen to the future yet. If Monarch achieved his goal of obtaining the ladybug and cat miraculous in the past, those changes would affect the present first, then the future if they left the anomaly (Monarch) unresolved.

If the timeline of the one stream Monarch entered were to be left alone, then those changes would of course affect the rest of the streams and gradually make its way down the river, endangering the natural flow of time and their entire worlds existence. Fortunately, they caught him before any tragedy could happen.

Once the bunny miraculous was retrieved near the end of "Evolution", balance was achieved, the heroes retained the memory of fighting alongside Bunnyx, their fight against Monarch, and meeting Fu in the past, all without interfering with the timeline and causing any negative changes to the flow of time.

I've seen the leaks and now I'm ticked off.

This post has potentially VERY BIG spoilers so I'm hiding this under a cut.

Again, if you don't want to know how Season 5 of Miraculous Ladybug and the whole "Agreste Arc" ends, this is your LAST CHANCE to not be surprised.

I'm assuming you WANT to know now. Well, here's how I feel about it.

I'm not mad that Miraculous Ladybug isn't closing out its biggest arc the way I want it to end. I'm disappointed because the writers chose to go with an ending that goes against not only everything set up so far for this arc but the overall message of the series. The overall message to learn to deal and recover from setbacks and to never give up hope, even though it takes work. When things go wrong, Ladybug can fix it, but fixing the emotional damage is harder than summoning a "Lucky Charm" and shouting "Miraculous Ladybug!" Basically, she can start the process to truly heal and the cheat of making a deal to get what you want never ends well. The only way out is through...by working at it one step at a time and having hope.

Instead this ending is Gabriel getting what he wants - the restoration of this wife - then becoming undone by it. This would work if it came after some effort and evaluation on Gabriel's part to truly understand why he would be unworthy of this new world he fought for, or if he hadn't already been shown repeatedly that he would destroy himself to get what he wants. Instead, he gets away with the punishment he chose for himself and at worst, the collective memory of him will be as a hero...even though he did nothing to earn this and the only person it benefits is Adrien.

This whole scenario could have been fixed by the wish granter making one important declaration.

"You can have your wish, but you cannot choose the sacrifice."

Then we could have had an alternate Wishverse, and then Marinette given the difficult burden on setting right what went wrong. Before you cry "She'd be no different from Gabriel," this IS basically what she does when she uses Miraculous Ladybug, only a step further. WARNING FANFIC ALERT! FANFIC ALERT! THIS IS OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD SO IT CONTAINS PLOT HOLES GALORE!

Imaging this scenario: As in the leaks, Ladybug is tricked into thinking that Gabriel/Monarch wants to give up. The bad guy takes her earrings and then does the whole wish granting ceremony.

We see the wish bubble expand since we know that's how it happens thanks to "Ephemeral." Before it reaches a frozen Marinette (or maybe she's not frozen here...I'm not sure if she still will be frozen in the actual episode even from the leaks), a portal appears under her feet. All of a sudden Marinette is in the Burrow. (Yes, it seems contrived, but just hear me out.)

Bunnyx has saved Marinette, and Marinette mentions that they have to go back in time to before Gabriel makes his wish. However Bunnyx explains that once a wish is made and it engulfs the universe, everything is changed, past, present, and future. (Note: This makes it a point that even the Bunny Miraculous, as powerful as it is, can't counter a wish and also shows how it differs from the Snake Miraculous, and it would also explain why the Bunny Miraculous couldn't be used in Ephemeral). The Burrow is outside of time, but once Bunnyx deposits Marinette in the new universe, Marinette can't come back. However, Bunnyx knows Marinette can set things right and sends Marinette on her way.

So then Marinette is deposited in her own room and it's a school day and she's almost late for school. Remarkably, many things are the same in the "new" world, although there are little things like a poster teasing a Tsurugi-Fathom alliance in London is coming to Paris soon (implying Feligami is still a thing...but this time arranged the way Adrigami was in canon). Chloé tries to start her bullying, but is surprised to see Marinette have a strong backbone when Marinette fires back at her, and Alya is glad Marinette stood up for herself. However, as soon as Marinette gets to class she realizes that Adrien is not there and more importantly, no one even seems to know who he is.

Marinette then goes over to the Agreste mansion and to her surprise, the gates are open people are flowing in and out of there. It's an "open house" called "Gabriel's House." Nathalie and the bodyguard are still there, but more like ushers rather than barriers, and surprisingly, Marinette is able to see Gabriel after waiting in line. Gabriel is in his atelier alongside Emilie.

At first Marinette accuses Gabriel of being Hawk Moth and being behind Adrien's disappearance, and the couple are stunned. They don't know. When she says he's their son, Emilie gets upset and Gabriel asks her to leave, but that she is welcome to come back once she learns her manners.

Marinette goes home and both does her own research (discovering Adrien really doesn't exist, as well as Ladybug or Cat Noir, and there's no information about the Miraculous or even the restoration of the temple) and consults Alya to fill in the blanks. She asks Alya if she ever heard of Hawk Moth or superheroes. Alya tells her superheroes appear in Paris all the time whenever crises happen. She says she even became Lady Wifi once....and so Marinette realizes that Hawk Moth does still exist and is still akumatizing people. Marinette then goes to Master Fu, who is still in Paris with the Miraculous Box.

At first, Fu feigns ignorance and pretends to be a healer, but Marinette explains the situation and asks him to give her the Ladybug Miraculous. He believes her wholeheartedly, but he says he cannot. Even if this world is "wrong" there is always a price to be paid for a wish and for her to change the universe again would make her no better than the villain she described.

She despairs at the thought that she can't bring Adrien back, and then a butterfly slams into her purse.

"Ladybug, I am Hawk Moth. I will help you obtain what you seek."

Marinette doesn't listen and instead rejects the akuma, thinking that Hawk Moth planned to turn her into a minion. She then goes back home, then goes upstairs to the balcony where she finds a note asking her to come to the Agreste mansion. Marinette goes over to the manion and sees Gabriel and Emilie. He tells Nooroo it's okay to appear. Gabriel explains that even though he found the Peacock Miraculous, he and Emily both decided to never use it, as the price for creating life that way was too high. After seeing what has happened to their nephew (he says "family"), Gabriel and Emilie are more convinced this was the right decision. Instead, they decided to give their love to Paris' children and adult citizens, and Gabriel would use the proceeds from his fashion line to help others. However, there was still more they could do, so recently Gabriel began to use the Butterfly Miraculous to share power with others to help them save others. In this way he could go his good from the shadows, with no one the wiser.

Marinette explains that in the world before the wish Gabriel was not a good man. Upon merely mentioning a few bad events, Gabriel and Emily are horrified.

"Perhaps the Guardian is right," Gabriel laments. "If I committed these terrible crimes, not only do I not deserve a son, but Paris is safer as it is now."

However, Marinette mentions that this world is wrong. Reluctantly, Emilie agrees. She confesses that all these years she has felt something wrong, and she knows Gabriel felt it as well. That's why the two of them were trying to atone and do good for others, but it was never enough.

With a newfound resolve, Gabriel becomes Hawk Moth and akumatizes Marinette into Ladybug. Emilie also uses the broken Peacock Miraculous to transform, which horrifies Gabriel, but she stands resolute as she knows what Ladybug must do is bigger than herself. Emilie adds, "I'll also give you a sentimonster of your own choosing. If you're going up against the Guardian you will need all the help you can get."

Ladybug would tempted to bring back Adrien with the amok, but instead she knows what she has to do. In order to beat Master Fu if it comes down to fighting. She then recreates Cat Noir.

"As a sign of good faith," Hawk Moth says, "we give you these."

After this, he then not only removes the brooch and turns back into Gabriel, but gives it to her alongside a kwatagama. Emilie also takes off the Peacock Miraculous and gives it to Ladybug.

"These are the Peacock and the Butterfly Miraculouses," Gabriel says. "You can return these to the Guardian so they are with the others. If you are successful, we will not need them any longer."

"You trust me that much?" Ladybug asks.

"If we do have a son in this we'd like to think he'd have as kind of a heart as you do."

Gabriel does give her one final piece of advice. "Even if I am a villain in the other world, don't try to change things. I'm fully prepared to pay the price. Let me face the consequences of my own actions. Neither that version of myself nor I deserve a second chance."

"Likewise," Emilie says, "I know I would gladly give my life for my son. Now I get the chance to help set things right."

Ladybug then goes to Master Fu's. Master Fu is outraged that she has sold her soul for power just like all the mysterious "heroes" that have shown up and turns into Jade Turtle. Ladybug tries to explain that she's not a villain and that she is willing to return even the Peacock and Butterfly Miraculouses in exchange for the Ladybug and Cat Miraculouses. Fu declares that she is a villain who doesn't even know it, and so he has to fight Ladybug.

Since Ladybug's powers come from an akuma, she can use her Lucky Charm more than once. Of course, Jade Turtle counters with a barrier and says he can wait it out.

"Cat Noir" cataclysms the barrier, but Master Fu forms it again. Cat Noir's ring pads begin to disappear. Ladybug uses her Lucky Charm and is able to win the fight. (Okay, I haven't worked this part out yet.)

She repeats a variation of the speech Fu had given her in "Miracle Queen."

"Master Fu," Ladybug says, "you are the best Guardian I've ever met. You taught me that we all make mistakes, but what matters is to fix them. Please, trust me, and let me fix this mistake."

Jade Turtle then yields then becomes Master Fu again. Cat Noir also doubles over as his markings disappear on the ring finger. Ladybug doesn't understand, but he reminds her that he's not the real Cat Noir just before he disappears. She realizes that this is because he's just a recreation of the Cat Noir she knew, but she did not know who was behind the mask so he ceased to exist when he switched back. She gives Master Fu the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculouses, but not the kwatagama (it's still in her yo-yo, and, yes, this is an important point for future arcs). Master Fu then gives her the Ladybug and Cat Noir Miraculouses, and then she wears them and makes the wish. But Marinette wished for everything to be it was...with one exception. She wishes that Gabriel Agreste wasn't Hawk Moth or Shadow Moth or Monarch any more so that Adrien could have a father.

This wish recreated the world as it was with one exception...Instead of being Monarch, Gabriel has lost his memory of being Hawk Moth, the Miraculous, and just about everything since he met Emilie. However, because he is no longer Monarch...he no longer has a hold of the Butterfly Miraculous...and that Miraculous ends up in Lila's possession. Because Gabriel does not remember Emilie, the power fades and she passes away in her coffin unnoticed to the world. However, Gabriel decides to be there for Adrien, no matter that he does not know his son any more, and he and Nathalie act as parent and guardian to create new memories for each other. So...yeah, I kind of went overboard there. But my point is letting the bad guy win, even when redemption equals death, leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

*Important note. Just like the new leaks confirm, it's clear Ladybug still does NOT know Cat Noir's identity and vice versa. EDIT: I realized a big plot hole in the above is that Colt Fathom is supposedly the one who gave Gabriel his money...so I pretty much have to wait until the episodes air before finalizing the details of my FixitFic.

Okay so... Not entirely sure what this little tidbit will be. Whether as a prologue to the postseason 5 fic that popped into my head or just background for... Whatever I continue from this... Actually no. New idea that just hit as I'm writing this. I've shown how Faybon is with Marinette and Adrien, how he supports LB and Chat the best he can, touched briefly on his interactions with Alya and Nino. I've also hinted at an uneasy alliance with Felix and I may have said a bit about his thoughts on Chloe. Under the cut? How he managed to deal with Bunnyx.

"Stay out of trouble." That's the last thing Bunnyx ever said to him, of course had Faybon known that would be the last time he'd ever see the time traveller? He may have been a bit kinder to her.

As it stood, all he could do was look around at the destruction Strike Back was causing in the city before turning to glare at the bunny peaking out from her burrow. "Would it have worked?" He had asked instead, holding down the anger that threatened to bubble over.

"Yes. But what it changed sent the timeline careening into disaster." Faybon had left it at that, it had been a long time since he cared enough to ask what damage his need to help caused. He just accepted the fact that future Bunnyx knew best and there was no point worrying otherwise, if he could have made a difference then she wouldnt be stopping him.

So Faybon went home, he ignored the giant sentimonsters as best as he could, shut his eyes and ears to the cries of the Miraculous team as they were being overwhelmed, and instead chose to keep the kids from hurting themselves taking too many big risks. Only when the marks on the back of everyones necks were erased by the magical ladybugs did he actually relax and consider that he should probably apologize to Bunnyx when he next saw her... Then came the announcement of the newly named Monarch.

Watching the swarm of butterflies mock the heroes for failing, the symbols of all the Miraculous surrounding the faux head like some kind of bizarre clock, it filled Faybon with equal parts rage and despair. Shards of ice digging into his heart as fire flooded his veins. This was the preferred outcome? This is what Bunnyx couldn't let him change? He couldn't believe it. Something had to have gone wrong.

Over the next few days he managed to piece together exactly what had happened, starting with learning that their classmate Alix was currently going on a vacation through time to keep Fluff away from Monarch. So, yes, this WAS what Bunnyx wanted to happen and now he had absolutely no way of telling her just how pissed he was at her. Well, other than holding onto it for the years to come that is which, while tempting, only opened him up to getting akumatised.

That just left the question of HOW Monarch got the other Miraculous and, while the lack of the peacock during his little monologue gave Faybon an idea, it wasn't until he heard Adrien talking about it to the rest of the class that he figured out just how deep Felix's betrayal went. Handing over the Miraculous was one thing, but under the guise of being Adrien and helping out Ladybug? Well... Faybon was amazed he hadn't been akumatised at all during that week. Most likely because it was when Monarch went silent for whatever reason.

He was tempted to go to London, kick down the door and beat the prick until he was as blue as Duusu's outfits. In his calmer moments he thought about visiting and proposing some kind of alliance, but the same thing stopped him from doing that as what prevented him from threatening grievous bodily harm on Adrien's lookalike. There was no chance he would manage it. Faybon was an average kid and Felix had a Miraculous and some serious martial arts training if his Wikipedia article was to be believed. Felix had outsmarted Ladybug, bargained with Monarch, and got away scot-free. Faybon wouldn't be able to touch him in a million years.

So that left Faybon with no idea on what to do next. Ever since the future Bunnyx had saved him from Egypt, coincidentally enough TimeTagger had sent him just a few years after Bunnyx had been trapped there with a broken watch, he'd more or less relief on her guidance. If he ever got the idea for some big morale boosting party, or ideas for the heroes to help with patrols and catching HawkMoth, she'd show up and either tell him to stop it or ask for popcorn so she could enjoy it. Maybe it was because he didn't really have a great relationship with present Alix, or because she was the one who brought him to the orphanage to begin with, but he did feel a connection with her at times. She was like the big sister he hadn't seen in years but still treated him like a child. Now that she was gone? He had lost the only person who knew what was going on just as much as he did.

Sure she preached secret identities as much as Ladybug did, and was quick to point out just how many times his actions forced her to actually do overtime trying to fix things. But she still let him into the burrow, sat him in a chair, and showed him some of the crazy scenarios that Marinette and Adrien made up to try and keep their secret. It took hours before he could stop laughing over how embarrassed Ladybug was catching Adrien in the shower. Sure it felt a bit surreal watching his friends like some kind of soap opera, but it was nice not having to be serious for once.

So, with all those thoughts weighing on his mind. As Akuma's got Miraculous powers granted by some strange ability that was like nothing he'd heard the kwamis mention before, as Nino had the beyond ridiculous idea to form a resistance and anger Gabriel? Faybon made his choice. He held up his hands, said no, and stepped back. The whole class was shocked obviously, out of everyone they thought he'd want to help Ladybug and Chat Noir the most and had a hard time accepting that he didn't.

It didn't take long for the heroes themselves to ask about it, wondering if he was okay or if they'd done something to upset him. He'd managed to get them to accept that, with Akumas being more powerful and only two heroes to combat them, the best way he could help was by keeping the emotional children of Tules orphanage as calm as possible. Something that took a lot of work on his best days but now had become so much harder.

They'd left it at that and Faybon had a moment to himself to think back on everything. "Stay out of trouble." She had said it with a laugh, like she knew it wouldn't happen and yet.... Surely she knew that was the last time they'd meet? Maybe ever since there was no guarantee that the Bunnyx who left his class would be the same one who went back to save him. If she'd go through those moments they'd shared or if it was something only he would remember. However it went he knew one thing for sure. Future Bunnyx, the adult version of his classmate Alix, had wanted him to stay safe. So that's what he'd do. He owed he that and so much more.

“You and Ladybug go ahead. I need to recharge for a moment.” Paint le Panda spoke as Ladybug heads over to the Ponts de Arts bridge where Bunnyx is fighting against the evil Ladybug.

“This wasn't part of my agenda, but I'm always happy to crush another hero. It'll teach the rabble to get in line. To show there is no hope." The evil Ladybug spoke to Bunnyx. "Doesn't anyone but you believe in your lies? You're worse than Lila!" Bunnyx shout as they clash. During the struggle, the evil Ladybug drops a gem similar to the Phantom Ruby as the evil Ladybug uses her yo-yo and turns it into a mace, sending Bunnyx to a wall. "Seeing is belieiving." The evil Ladybug said about to crush Bunnyx until Ladybug arrives to deflect her yo-yo. "Tag out, Bunnyx. I'll take it from here." Ladybug said as Rena Rouge and Carapace arrive to pick up Bunnyx.

"Well well, look who's come back from the dead. The pretender who wears the Ladybug Miraculous. And what's this I smell? Oh, that's right. Fear. Good to see I left an impression since our last bout." The evil Ladybug said. She looked like Ladybug, but her suit was black and red spots all over with the Phantom Ruby in her yo-yo. "Nope. That's not fear. I jumped above place to place to get here. And you haven't left an impression. I don't even know anything about you. Even your name, Faker." Ladybug said.

"Fine. I suppose you can call me, "Phantombug". And the real faker I see is you since I happen to be the original Ladybug. Dark Moth said so." Phantombug said towards her counterpart. "See Phantombug, we're getting to know each other. What's your favorite color? What's your favorite macaroon to eat? What's the source of your power?" Ladybug asked as Rena Rouge and Carapace take Bunnyx in their arms. "You can skip the first two questions, actually." Ladybug said to her counterpart.

"Zizzi, there you are. Tokitoki hatched another universal egg and we got new Time Scrolls." Chronoa spoke to Zizzi. (@muses-of-the-memory)

"Another egg?" She had soon turned back to her as she looked excited. "What are the new Time Scrolls like?" She asked as she got up on her feet.

Gale Reviews: ML Season 5 Episode 1 Evolution

Spoilers for the start of the new Season

So it starts RIGHT after the finale

-Okay so he is calling himself monarch right out the bat

-Paris is a mood

-Chat noir jumping up and breaking the shield casually. Boss!

-Oh they are doing the side by side speech thing. (also the kwami cowering that MONSTER!)

-Sass trying to warn him only to BE SILENCED. KWAMI ABUSE

-Chat noir "We will never be silenced" rude

-Gabriel really turning up the evil

-Nathalie telling him to wait, but Gabriel is like "Nah bitch I got this" (spoiler he does not)

-Oh damn they showed the perspective of the future version of them from the past.... Wow that is perplexing

-Bunnix is finnally here! after an entire season!

-So the bunny is the most powerful miraculous of all cause time travel

-Seriously though, gabriel really screws the pooch on this

-Wait, so he just sucked them all into the cane?

-and now we see clips of previous akuma fights

-So Gabriel tried to use the lady wifi encounter to steal the miraculous but Bunnix knows to rewind time to stop him

-So the unify when Monarch uses it doesnt change the costume

-Oh look multiple miraculous use being dangerous FINALLY

-Okay so this time he went to Nathalie. Okay there is a smart move for once.

-Well for once he feeds the kwami

-Young fu looking at them as they explain they need a miraculous

-"Yea I ship it, so I believe you."

-I missed the old box so much

-GASP He is giving them BOTH the speech about choosing wisely.... Never had I needed something so badly without knowing it.

-Young Fu is a gem

-Alix wanted to study engineering

-Remember when we thought Mr.Kubdel might be hawkmoth? I remember thinking it was dumb. Cause He is a good dad

-He knows his daughter is leaving, He knew the exact time. MY HEART!!!!! I CANT

-Alix is a bean and I love her.

-And she is surprised its the dog, wonders what happened to the bunny

-Mr.Kubdel reveals the pictures of the past on how he knew this would happen

-This explains Bunnyx in Chat blanc to.

-DOG ALIX IS BABY! I WOULD DIE FOR HER

-OH LOOK, TRAUMA FOR ALIX

-And Alix does her part

-So they plan on baiting him using the heroes day moment

-Nathalie is feeding them. Finally someone is

-Nathalie suggests her plan. WHICH MAKES SENSE!

-Gabriel seems like he is gonna do it

-So he is searching, he found the moment

-OMG ALIVE EMILIE.

-He carries her off. Thats cute, also. ARE THEY JUST LITTERING WITH ALL OF THAT. F***ing rich people

-YOU IDIOT! YOU COULD HAVE DROPPED OFF THE DRIVE RIGHT THERE! YOU FOOL! YOU GOT GREEDY

-Canigirl! I think its fine name

-He got tricked!

-UNIFY WITH ALIX! SHE DID BOTH

-And apparently, that ball cant travel through time.

-Gabriel realizes he done goofed

-Did... Did they just strand him in the past?

-Chat noir spoke backwards for a second.

-PERMA USER ALIX!!! HELL YEA

-fLUFF got de ja vu

-This episode was an apology for the lack of alix this season.

-Fu is like "Huh... that happened"

The monarch thought he had a chance, but then Bunnix is like "LOL NOPE!"

-So Monarch escapes using Longg's powers. But totally got owned by bunnix.

-Chat noir cheers up ladybug in that cute moment. Seriously, she is so soft for him

-Gabriel appologizing to Emilie

-Also, nathalie is calling but like, she would know if it worked cause time travel impacts s*** so...

-Oh s*** I forgot this all happened the same day as Risk and Strikeback

-Also NATHALIE. ABOUT F***ING TIME YOU SAID IT. gOOD ON YOU FOR FINALLY REALIZING HE AINT WORTH IT

Overall, it was a good episode. I was worried with the time travel, but I would say this episode handled it the best. Alix and Chat noir got a lot of shine, and the episode ACTUALLY REMEMBERS the consequences of multiple miraculous use. Good to know

I give this an 9 out of 10

I think there could have been more, but Alix really got a lot of development and I know we wont see her for some time which does stink. But hey, It has a lot of good and I think the pacing was decent.

Could I get like… a basic rundown of Evolution.

Bullet points if you must, I’m seeing some contradictory information or maybe I’m getting something wrong somewhere.

Ok spoilers

Takes place immediately after Strike Back, Chat Noir and Ladybug are like "aw yea we're gonna get monarch now hrrhrhrh"

Gabriel transforms with Fluff and Nooroo with a plan to take the miraculouses when Ladybug and Chat are weak and early in their hero journey

Chat and Ladybug see, suddenly, Monarch weakly running behind them- chased after themselves, and they're very confused as they disappear into portal, when Bunnyx appears

Monarch goes to Lady Wifi to steal Ladybug's miraculous when Bunnyx rewinds that moment in time to yank him into the burrow just before he takes LB's earrings

There's a fight and Bunnyx gets venomed and he escapes to Riposte

Chat takes Bunnyx's watch and gives it to LB to chase after him, but she lets him use it instead

Wacky shenanigans as they chase Monarch through several old episodes (We see DjWifi kiss in the Animan episode, it's cute!)

Then, we hit the 1930's, during the Backwarder flashback where Master Fu was younger and escaping the nazis(yes this is canon).

Monarch collapses from the time travel stress, body literally being electrocuted, and they nearly get the watch, but just then, the heroes get distracted by Master Fu he snatches the watch back and he gets away.

Monarch runs to Nathalie for help, she gives him this thing that will help cure Emilie Early and they can end everything before the problem even started (also she fed the kwami, its cute)

The heroes go to young Master Fu who, is very confused by them, but lets them borrow a miraculous.

Cut to Alix and her dad at the Louvre. He brought her here to talk and they have a cute lil father daughter chit chat, Alix apparently wants to be an engineer and they talk about how loving what you do is the best reason to have a particular job or something

Alix is like: i should build a time machine for us lol Alim is like: lol like right now and they look over to see Ladybug and Chat appear

Ladybug's plan involves Alix temp using the dog to get the rabbit watch back for herself, Alim reveals he's known she was and was going to be Bunnyx this entire time cause Future Alix has been casually sending him post cards of all the places in time she's been

They set a trap during hero's day, a very obvious trap, cause it's a trap in a trap, trap

Cutting back to Gabe, he has a choice to make, going to save Emilie for the one time he can, or when he sees the heroes in their obvious trap- go for them instead.

He goes for the heroes.

And they immediately ambush him. Alix swipes the watch and goes duel bunny and dog for a short bit. They miraculous cure everything, Future Bunnyx cheers Alix, and Alix keeps Fluff permanently

Episode ends on Gabriel being returned back to the present by Bunnyx AND NATHALIE DUMPS HIM SAYING SHE QUITS

The end

oh and Alix takes a selfie with Master Fu for the lols

Might be a bit of a reach, but I was rewatching Chat Blanc -idk why I subjected my self to that- and there was this scene where Bunnyx explains why ladybug entrusted her with the bunny miraculous, when she says "because I can keep a secret", I can't help but think this is some sort of forshadowing towards how things are going to play out with Luka knowing both Ladybug and Chat's Identities, I'm worried they are going to paint him in a bad light in order to make Alix's hero debut more -uhh idk- "important". Since they are both time related heroes, and also I don't think that the writers are above this. (Might also be the final jab to lukanette).

I’ve come to realize the massive double standards in this show with trust issues.

Marinette’s issues with Tikki in “Kwamibuster”? Absolutely reasonable, but resolved by the end of the episode and by “Dearest Family,” Marinette’s issue is believing in Tikki too much.

Ladybug’s issues with Chat in “Miraculous New York”? It’s framed as her fault and she feels so guilty after he quits that everything’s resolved minutes later (he even gets a hug). If you consider it part of the canon between Seasons 3 and 4, then “Lies” even goes out of its way to talk about how they just trust each other so much.

Chat’s issues with Ladybug in “Rocketear”? He’s given misleading information about it, purposefully bottles it up, and we know that it’s going to come back to bite Ladybug.

You don’t have to be a fashion designer to see a pattern.

She was given another chance to be good by Ladybug, who used to idolize but now knows as Marinette in trying to save Paris, hoping for a chance at redemption. Hawk Moth aka Gabriel Agreste. Kwami - Nooroo. Has the power of Transmission. Father of Adrien Agreste, and former enemy of Ladybug and Cat Noir. He tries time and again to use his powers to turn butterflies into akumas making people turn into supervillains to get his hands on Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculous to bring back his comatose wife, Emilie Agreste who has some connection with the damaged Peacock Miraculous he repaired. His identity as Hawk Moth was exposed by Dark Mills alongside his assistant, Nathalie Sancouer aka Mayura by using Lady Wifi and Prime Queen's powers on live television. He then learns his son was Cat Noir, and fights alongside the defenders of Paris against the Akuma Army. He even attempts to use his powers for the good of humanity. Mayura aka Nathalie Sancouer. Kwami - Duusu. Has the power of Emotion. Assistant to Gabriel Agreste. Used to be akumatised as Catalyst to help Hawk Moth become Scarlet Moth on Heroes Day, but their plans were foiled by Ladybug and Cat Noir. She also used the damaged Peacock Miraculous to make Sentimonsters, but at the cost of her health to help Gabriel's schemes. Her identity as Mayura was exposed along with Hawk Moth by Dark Mills, and was imprisoned with him. She then joins the Resistance to atone for her crimes. Spies Volpina aka Lila Rossi. One of Ladybug and Cat Noir's enemies, inside and outside their true identities. Her lying caused trouble for the two heroes, and was akumatised by Hawk Moth to become Volpina when her lies were exposed, and again as Chameleon to get revenge by changing her appearance to someone else she kissed. She was another love rival of Marinette competing for Adrien's affection. She was identified as Hawk Moth's spy when she approached Gabriel Agreste, and was exposed when PJ was akumatised as Dark Mills. Feeling responsible for her deception and wanting to atone for the trouble she caused helping Hawk Moth, Lila Rossi joins the Akuma Army, but faked being evilised acting as the mole for the Resistance just to get close to Dark Moth to find out his TRUE goal with his Phantom Ruby-enhanced akumatised supervillains; kill all heroes and use the Miraculous to create a world where villains rule for eternity. -------------------------- Others have also joined the Resistance to save Paris from the Akuma Army, like Penny and Jagged Stone. Especially Mr. Damocles being the Owl, despite that his school was turned into an akumatised slave factory. But I made this Miraculous Resistance to help Ladybug and Cat Noir stop Dark Moth before he and all the illusions of the villains Hawk Moth and Mayura created would rule all.

Random Miraculous Thoughts: Evolution Edition

(I’m late as usual but oh well)

Monarch looks kinda ridiculous wearing all of the miraculous at once but at least it’s a little better than the Shadowmoth outfit

Also I think it’s funny that he’s not even covering up his hair anymore lol

I LOVE that the whole city is behind Ladybug. That makes me so happy.

I am unfortunately always a sucker for time travel shenanigans so this episode was right up my alley. The CALLBACKS.

Also I just love Bunnyx and I’m always glad when she shows up.

Cat/bunny unification! Yay! Is it just me or has Chat not gotten a unification in forever?

Speaking of unifications, lol at Gabriel still trying to make “dual metamorphosis” happen. It’s not going to happen.

MASTER FU I MISS YOU. I WISH THERE WAS A WAY FOR YOU TO COME BACK.

Gabriel stealing the butterfly Miraculous is really coming back to bite him in the butt huh. If he’d gotten it legitimately he would’ve had someone to warn him about what happens if you unify too many at once.

The kwamis reminding him that they need to eat was funny but also does not bode well for how he’s going to treat them. He’s been feeding Nooroo right? RIGHT?

Controversial opinion but Alix might’ve had a better outfit with the dog miraculous than Sabrina or Felix did.

Also I love that she sent her dad postcards from her time travel. That’s cute.

Speaking of Alix, SHE GOT THE RABBIT MIRACULOUS!!!! I’ve wanted this forever and it finally happened! And she’s a permanent holder now!

“You could’ve saved me. You could’ve saved Emilie. Instead, you chose your obsession with Ladybug and Chat Noir.” GO OFF NATHALIE.

Man I really hope she ends up on the heroes’ side I would love that.

LILA?! How is she going to factor into all of this?

In conclusion that was a heck of a way to start the season and I’m very curious about where it’s going from here.

Why didn’t they go back to prevent the Miraculous from being taken? Evolution spoilers

When Ladybug and Cat Noir were using future Bunnyx miraculous to stop Monarch from taking their miraculous in the past, the question that came to mind was why they didn't use the bunny miraculous to go back in time to the point where Ladybug’s yoyo was taken by the dog miraculous and prevent Monarch from taking all the miraculous in the box?. Now, the reason they didn't go back to this exact point and prevent Monarch from obtaining the miraculous, is because they were not suppose to.

When Bunnyx appeared in “Evolution”, she wasn’t there to help Ladybug and Cat Noir go back to the exact point in time when Ladybug would lose her yoyo, she was there to help them figure out what point in time Monarch traveled to, in order to stop him from potentially re-writing history. Now, surprisingly enough, the thing that was not re-writing history was Monarch possessing all the miraculous, meaning that time was still moving as it should despite Ladybugs loss.

Monarch obtaining all the miraculous within Ladybugs yoyo near the end of "Strike Back" was something that needed to happen, because if it didn’t, Monarch would not have attempted to mess with time, and from there, Ladybug and Cat Noir would not have met Master Fu in the past, which guaranteed their future as miraculous holders.

Fu had always been cautious about entrusting miraculous to others, but when the time came for him to select new holders, he knew that his test in "Origins" could have drawn anyone to come and help him, but because he had already met the heroes in the past, Fu always knew it would be the two he saw long ago, even if he didn't know their identities as a result of the miraculous quantum masking effect.

But aside from this, if Gabriel hadn't obtained all the miraculous, even if he didn't know their identities as a result of the miraculous quantum masking effect. But aside from this, if Gabriel hadn't obtained all the miraculous, young Alix would not have been asked to help retrieve the bunny miraculous and become its permanent holder, while Ladybug and Cat Noir would not have gone through the much needed process of repairing their bond.

Ladybug and Cat Noirs only mission was to stop Monarch from leaping through time and get the bunny miraculous back. So when Monarch laid unconscious after suffering the effects of using to many miraculous, Ladybug and Cat Noir were not quick to take the other miraculous, not because they didn't want to, but because they knew that so long as they obtained the bunny miraculous, Monarch would simply be left as another person whos time could be manipulated through their power alone.

And as we saw near the end of "Evolution, that's exactly what Bunnyx did when she returned Monarch to the present so Ladybug and Cat Noir could capture him with ease. And yet, despite feeling victory was within reach on multiple occasions, the one thing they continued to struggle in accepting was that their fight against Monarch was no longer about just them gaining the upper hand in a fight, it was now about him gaining an advantage over them as he wielded the other miraculous.

They knew what he could do with just two miraculous in his possession, but now that he had 16, there was no telling what he was capable of. And sure, Ladybug could have just tried to go back in time to prevent Shadow Moth from taking all the miraculous, but she didn’t, because she knew from Bunnyx and from her experience in, “Time Breaker”, “Time Tagger”, and “Cat Blanc”, that time is something you should NOT mess with so easily.

Ladybug and Cat Noir could've gone back, but by altering the past, they would have no idea how it would affect the present and future. So given everything that’s happened, Ladybug was just more responsible than Monarch and knew not to mess with time, she left that to the professionals.
