Artemis will disassemble and clean a fountain pen with the same level of intensity as Butler disassembling and cleaning one of his guns.
#artemis fowl#Artemis will just automatically include the upkeep of Butler's his mother's Juliet's and Holly's fountain pens in the upkeep of his own#Holly and Juliet tend not to use their pens often (which they have because Artemis gifted them pens) so Artemis will help whenever they vis#visit. Then with Butler it is largely due to the man not having the habit of building 'frivolous' rituals of care into his day so Artemis w#will care for the pens as Butler does (at the end of it all) adore the devices#with Angeline I feel Artemis is just so wholly dedicated to that kind of small act of care when it comes to his mother#(thinking of him composing a unique ringtone for her calls)#I think Fowl Sr is more of a ballpoint pen or a pencil fellow and Artemis will sometimes include his father in the hobby by cleaning#and repairing pens in his father's study while the man works (so he will have the experience of being included through the upkeep)#Tim does appreciate when Artemis shows off some of the special/exclusive inks he purchases#he finds the beauty of the ink a much more accessible aspect of the hobby#that diane ackerman quote about crying in a museum while looking at a piece of yellow sulfur and thinking about how lucky we are to live on#a planet of a natural yellow that is so marvelously yellow#Artemis will do ink tests (when you get a new ink and experiment with it on good quality paper) when his father is in the room for this rea#reason

How do I stop feeling so lonely??? I can't go out and breathe air neither can I speak to real people. HOW DO I NOT FEEL THIS LONELY. (I'm sorry)
This is the thing, if you are gonna sit forever in your room all by yourself the space around you will be occupied by loneliness ,
( I will assume you are not hospitalized)
"I can't go out" no ! You really really have to make an effort to go out for a walk everyday even with all your anxiety to the point it becomes a routine/habit , you need to feel the air passing through you , sun shining upon you when you walk your lanes, you need to know the trees in your area and the birds which stay on them , you need to visit your park and know all the flowers that grows there, you need to breathe among them, watch everything that happens there,all these things are growing with you in the same area you live in ,you will feel little less warn torn when you are amid of all these things and choose and different route for coming back to your place , try to observe things and feel them.
If you are hospitalised and can't walk at all , open your room windows let the air flow in ,let the sunlight sit on your skin, get 10 of your books on the bucket list( don't read the sad ones, read the ones which build up your interest and niche) read them slowly let yourself live in the books and develop a hobby which will keep you really really occupied, and do it for few hours without fail.
Start hitting a library everyday and sit among the people there, even if you don't speak to them you will at the very least know that you are not the only one not speaking, try to find people there who are reading stuff similar to yours or reads the same kind of book as you or try to pick a particular time everyday to be in library this increases the chances of you knowing the same people and if one of you makes a move may be you will end up speaking with them (even if just a bit ) .
Try to learn how to cook This is one very good way to kill time and make yourself occupied .
Try to find more about yourself and things which want you to engage your time in, research, paintings, literature, academics, your work etc could be any of these things for example,,,try new things on yourself too .
These are all the things i have done ✅ , and I still do them everyday , I still visit library everyday, i keep myself a bit occupied digging up new Literature works or reading books every whenever possible,i now know how to cook 13 dishes (altho it took me many months ) , i have been trying new things slowly , lonliness has not gone away for good but I have experienced more emotions while doing all those things, so much of life also depends on what we can do now , how we use the time we have now.
Irrespective of how things have been and how they are now , that's not how they are always going to be if and only if you are willing to make up an effort to change things just not with your way but any way you possibly think of, and believing in the fact they will.
#things takes time to change and you have to keep showing up untill it happens#building new habits is hard but its still better than living in the old same way#last but not the least life is not simple but not really really complex we have little power over things we can bring to chnage in our life

got a good grade at the dentist today against all odds 😇 it's been uuuhhhh 8 years since my last check-up (i know, i know, i have a final boss-sized mental block against dental care), but i have NO new cavities, only a tiny bit of gum recession, and LESS gum inflammation than my last visit! all i need is a basic cleaning, to have a couple existing fillings touched up, and to be fitted for a night guard. the hygienist said she was "surprised and impressed" that my mouth was so healthy, which the dentist herself attributed to "very good home care." 😌😏
#ctxt#normal to want & possible to achieve. if you're me#E has been bugging me to go to the dentist for like 2 years so now i can finally be like#SEE I WENT AND MY MOUTH IS BASICALLY FINE ARE U PROUD OF ME U SHOULD BE PROUD#(she is)#my dad has No Teeth now after a lifetime of horrifying dental problems & it was one of those things where#like growing up watching both of my parents smoke cigarettes & have chronic shitty coughs & try/fail to quit repeatedly#something formative in my Self clicked firmly into the “no thanks! i will take every possible measure to avoid that fate!”#when it comes to taking care of my teeth. the professional care is extremely long overdue but i brush & floss meticulously#and it's paid off in a big way it seems!!! could've been so much worse. i was bracing for them to discover all sorts of new decay & gum shi#and from here on out i will schedule my next cleaning before leaving the office after my upcoming cleaning so i don't lapse#i truly hate going to the dentist so much so this is gonna have to be one of those 'set & forget' things if i'm gonna build good habits

writing fic more consistently than i have for, yikes, like 8 years??? is funny because i keep realizing i'm writing directly in conversation with myself? like i find myself raising points that i inadvertently answer in something else? just internally, i mean, i don't think it is/should be noticeable from the outside, per se. but for example the time loop fic had the "when did you stop believing in me?" line, and in the knife to the throat fic i kind of realized i was writing it directly in response to that idea? idk it's just interesting when writing more consistently how my brain is just doing a call and response across different stories? i always feel so awkward talking about the process of writing lmaooooo, but anyway general reminder you can always block that first tag <3

the best protip i could ever give to fellow adhders (but also applies to everyone) is to always keep an eye out in conversation for people who start to say something then get talked over, and once the current conversation thread ends, swing back around to them and go "what were you about to say?"
benefits:
- that person knows they were heard and feels validated and supported
- the person who interrupted them realizes they did so in a way that doesn't publically call them out, allowing them to process it on their own without shame clogging the pipes
- you yourself are less likely to interrupt others, and the times you do are more likely to be easily forgiven bc the other person knows it wasnt because you thought what you had to say was more important, but just because Mouth Move Faster Than Brain Sometimes
- there's automatically a new topic of conversation waiting in reserve
- professional environments see this as "attention to detail" and "mindfulness" and "teambuilding skills"
- helps combat subconscious bigotries/power dynamics that lead to certain people getting talked over more than others (eg misogyny/racism/homophobia/transphobia/etc)
- ^ again may help you be more mindful of those patterns in yourself and work to unlearn them
- people who like you will want to emulate the behaviors of yours they see as good
- i know people will say "create a positive space around yourself and itll domino effect" all the time and it sounds like wishy washy hippie bullshit but genuinely i cannot emphasize enough that it really does work
- like ive watched it happen in real time, i don't think i have a single friend now that hasn't picked this up from me because They Like When I Do It, It Makes Them Feel Good
- nobody likes being interrupted and everybody gets interrupted All The Goddamn Time. like i need to really drive it home that im not exaggerting when i say you'll be a sorely needed reprieve if you make an effort to do this
- and they really will start doing it in return, likely without you even having to ask if that stresses you out
- it's a small and easy way to make the world a bit kinder for everyone
