I'm trying to write a college au 9-1-1 fic.

but I can't figure out what major to give the characters.

age-wise I decided:

Ravi and Albert: freshmen

Eddie and Buck: sophomores

Maddie, Hen, Karen, Chimney: seniors

Bobby and Athena: professors

Harry and May: hs sophomore and senior

Chris: 3 years old.

Yes, almost everyone is aged down but otherwise this cannot be a college au.

ANYWAY.

As of now I only have

Bobby: Theology Professor

Athena: Law & Ethics Professor

Eddie ended up as a psychology major because he's had so much trauma (had Chris at 16, while actively being forced by his parents in a supernatural war, HES BEEN THROUGH A LOT) and he wants to give back.

Buck is an Elemental Literature (similar to world literature) major cuz in his alternate life coma dream he was a teacher.

Maddie is an Healing Studies major (basic med essentially) because nurse.

chim AND hen: alchemy & potion making majors (the hands on version of medicine) because I felt like it fit them to be more direct (?)

Karen is an aerospace engineering major because someone had to have a normal major. and also rocket scientist. her and chim met freshman year bc she was the only one who sat with him at lunch. Chim introduced them. henren already canon

Albert is an Elemental history major (but maybe he'll switch to business at some point I'm still on the fence), bc I genuinely didn't know what to give him.

ravi is obviously a property management major because as we're all sadly aware he is in fact a landlord.

oh, and technically Bobby's course is called Namology. and Athena's Elemental Law & Ethics. but same thing. oh, and Bobby's classroom is Class 118, obviously.

if anybody then wants to know their specieses lemme know.

Funny addition: did not realize this beforehand but I had previously literally already named the School of Law college ATHENA SCHOOL OF LAW. Athena Grant-Nash is really THAT GURL (technically it's named after the Greek Goddess but ssshhh that's a detail)

Despite loving his job, Eddie was ready to quit about 20 minutes into his first lecture with Evan "Buck" Buckley seated in the front row. The younger man had bright blue, almost beaming eyes, slightly tussled sandy blonde hair and apparently no shame, because he was wearing a light pink cropped t-shirt and dark blue jeans that hugged his ass just a little too tightly. Normally, Eddie didn't care what his students wore to his classes unless it was disrespectful or discriminatory, but he didn't know how to categorize this one. Across Buck's chest, the phrase, "use me" was written in black cursive letters and Eddie couldn't even argue against it without making it too obvious. Because not even three weeks earlier, Buck had been in his bed, riding him and gripping onto his skin like it would the last time he ever had sex. They hadn't exactly left much time for talking when they met in a bar at 1 am, Buck seemingly having lost his friends. Which Eddie later learned was a ploy to get him to go home with the younger man. And it had worked perfectly. So suddenly seeing him in the front row, looking as good, if not better, than the day they met, threw him off and he had to clear his throat as he did the first roll-call of the year. And Buck was smiling at him innocently, very clearly playing coy but as soon as he opened his mouth to answer Eddie's question, he was far from it. He was well-versed in English Literature and didn't take no for an answer. And it annoyed Eddie to no end. At the end of the class, Eddie dropped down in his chair with a heavy thud, pinching the bridge of his nose as he listened to his students gathering their things and shuffling out of the lecture hall. When a set of hands made its way onto his desk, Eddie recognized them a little too quickly because he had spent some time memorizing how they looked resting on his thighs as Buck had given him the most enthusiastic blowjob of his life. "I didn't know that you were a professor," Buck said as he let the tip of his tongue trace along his lower lip, Eddie unable to keep his eyes from following it. "I think-... that's kind of sexy" Buck moved his hand across the table to touch the professor. "I can't-... I can't do this. I could get fired if anyone ever found out" Eddie shot up from his seat, almost making his chair tilt backwards. Evan tries to swallow, then clear his throat before simply shaking his head in response.

They make some progress on their papers. Eddie is slightly in awe of Buck’s ease with Chris. He’d expected he’d give his son their usual library talk - you can try to read anything you can reach, legos are for playing, not throwing, and no shouting unless it’s really, really an emergency - but Buck had pulled a chair up and asked if Christopher wanted to help them study.

Chris loved that idea, though Eddie suspected that was because Buck asked, and not because his kid was suddenly interested in the political landscape of Brazil a couple decades before he was even born.

“Right, so we’re gonna read this paragraph here, and then we’re gonna ask your Dad a question about it. And if he gets it right, that’s great. This is why he doesn’t let anybody in. This is why he doesn’t trust anyone. Because people get hurt. Because he gets hurt. And the last thing he wants is for Buck to get hurt.
