SVT pekar mot EBUs beslut och att en stor del av osannolikheten av Israels uteslutning är att en huvudsponsor för ESC är ett Israeliskt företag.

i malmö har det i nuläget(02/22) bestämts att frågan om Israel i Malmös eurovision skall tas upp i kommande lokala kommunmöten. Man kan som medborgare ta del av dessa möten. I nuläget är det endast vänsterpartiet av regeringspartierna som driver frågan, men man kan ta kontakt med kommunrepresentant för att själv framföra frågan och ämnet. Svenskt ställningstagande i “konflikten” är som följer:

Israel har en självklar rätt att försvara sig mot terrorism och urskillningslös raketbeskjutning.

Civila måste skyddas. 

Humanitärt tillträde är fundamentalt. (Jag vill belysa att regeringen här menar på att “ett stort ansvar för den humanitära katastrofen i Gaza vilar på Hamas som styrt Gaza sedan 2007” och även följande: “Sverige är en stor kärnstödsgivare till flera av de humanitära aktörerna på plats." Med grund av dessa uttalanden som bl.a direkt beskyller Palestiner för de över 30.000 dödade av den Israeliska militären är det inte överranskande att medier i sverige genast är vinklade, till ingens överraskning. Den senaste artikeln jag råkade ha öppen för att göra den här posten har språket

“Sydafrikas regering har anklagat Israel för folkmordsliknande agerande mot Gazas befolkning”

 “kriget i Gaza, som inleddes efter Hamas blodiga attack i Israel den 7 oktober. EBU har sagt att Israels public servicebolag inte brutit mot några regler och kommer att få tävla.”

Inga ord om att ICJ dömde Israel för detta “folkmordsliknande” beteende, eller vad som skiljer folkmord från “folkmordslikt”, medans attacken gentemot Israel är rentutav "blodig". På denna nivå överlag ligger journalistiken i Sverige. 

Det är viktigt att vi som medborgare belyser att Sveriges regering inte bara är åskådare utan är medbrottslingar i Israels fortsatta utrotningsförsök mot det palestinska folket. Vi bör vara väl medvetna om propagandan som inte bara kommer utifrån, utan inom sverige, och bekämpa denna.

Exactly, everything about this!!! I feel like Dazai can never bring himself to really look at Akutagawa, because if he does, the only thing he'll see is how cruel he himself is. In a way, it's the perfect opposite to his relationship with Atsushi, you know? Atsushi depends a lot from Dazai; but the same can be said the other way round too. Dazai is addicted with Atsushi– addicted by the vague, delusional hope Atsushi gives him of being good, addicted by the feeling of someone looking at him with something different than fear. And that's why Dazai is addicted to Atsushi as much as he's repulsed by Akutagawa, because through the way they see him, they make him see himself as the best or the worst he could ever be.

About Dazai sending Atsushi to Akutagawa, who knows. Maybe it was his twisted way to make up for what he did to Akutagawa? A sort of “I couldn't fix him (I made him worse), but he can”. Except it didn't really work, because in the end, Atsushi ended up being even more repulsed of Akutagawa than Dazai; maybe as a very reflection of Dazai himself in the way he treats Akutagawa. Maybe because Atsushi looks up to Dazai so much, he can see how much he despises Akutagawa. (Even though, I don't want to excessively take from Atsushi's agency– Atsushi's beef with Akutagawa is PERSONAL lmao). And it's something weird to see: let's just recall that time Atsushi and Akutagawa met on the Moby Dick, and Dazai was once again being straight up cruel with Akutagawa in ways that would result truly concerning if not outrageous to anyone witnessing, yet Atsushi seemed to be perfectly cool with it. Or how Atsushi acts plain ruthless towards Akutagawa of his own in chapter 51: “It's no wonder Dazai-san chose to abandon you and disappear”, like, that really hurts. It's so devastating, even Akutagawa can't bring himself to answer. You have Atsushi touching a subject that hits so hard that even he, Akutagawa, can't retaliate?? This much really is reminiscent of Dazai's cruel psychological manipulating of Akutagawa.

Regarding Dazai gushing about Akutagawa in Dark Era but only when he's not there, I think about it so much... It's so perplexing how he can go from “Akutagawa, you could train for a hundred years, and you still wouldn’t be able to beat him” to “[Akutagawa] is soon to become the strongest person in the whole mafia” in the span of one day. Dazai's feelings for Akutagawa really are conflicting.

There's also that time in chapter 52 Akutagawa went “nothing special about that. I suppose he's far crueler than my own mentor”. And it's extremely interesting to see how Akutagawa DOES acknowledge Dazai was cruel towards him, at least to an extent. I feel like sometimes we tend to interpret him as a lot less self-aware than he actually is. Akutagawa does know that Dazai's treatment of him is overly cruel; he just either believes that that's what's right, or that that's what he deserves. On that note, the Atsushi / headmaster and Akutagawa / Dazai dynamics parallels are so interesting. Both Dazai and the headmaster ultimately thought that was the best way to raise their disciples and prepare them for the real world– but in the end all they did was fuck them up badly, didn't they? Makes me wonder if Dazai might have been thinking of himself as well when he told Atsushi “you were in hell, and hell raised you right”; like he was trying to reassure himself too that what he did to Akutagawa was for his own good, and had to be done.

Another element I've never seen anyone discuss but that on the contrary I find so meaningful is the fact that in the Heartless Cur Dazai explicitly asks Akutagawa if he was okay with being trained in the most cruel and painful way– and Akutagawa willingly accepted. Dazai unequivocally told Akutagawa that he would have granted him and Gin a comfortable life even without them having to join the mafia (it's hard to tell if he would have followed through, and according to the Beast events it doesn't feel like he would have; or maybe it doesn't even matter, because Dazai was so sure Akutagawa would have accepted, the alternative offering itself is meaningless). But Akutagawa was given a choice, and in a way one could say that he gave his consent? Which is twisted and fucked up because he was only about fifteen, but like. Eh. I think people shouldn't forget the fact that Dazai gave Akutagawa a choice before staring training him– a choice he may have wanted for himself when he was fifteen, and wasn't given.

I’m trying to finish reading Dark Era after a few months long break, and Dazai and Akutagawa’s relationship is so fucked up, because I’m pretty sure Dazai does care about him, but he’s also so blatantly cruel to him.

Like in the scene where Oda wakes up after the thing with Ango and the ball, Dazai mentions Akutagawa by name two separate times unprompted. And then he like gushes about him for a bit. And it’s like… where’s this energy when you’re talking to Akutagawa himself? And this is like a day after he tried to shoot him for fucking up.

And there are other times where it feels like Akutagawa is genuinely an important person to Dazai. It’s perhaps not a good kind of important, but it’s at least the kind of importance you place on someone you invested a lot of time and effort in. He’s one of the three people Dazai let know about the alternate universes in BEAST, implying he at least partially trusts him. And he seems to have tried to give Akutagawa a better life in that universe. And there’s Akutagawa’s backstory, where Dazai does seem a little fond of Akutagawa (he was nice to him for at least a few minutes before he devoted himself to destroying his self esteem). He tells Akutagawa that it’s a good answer when he starts howling, and he drapes his coat over his shoulders to welcome him into the mafia, and it would all almost be sweet if it weren’t for the context. And there’s the scene where Atsushi tells Dazai about the deal he made with Akutagawa, and Dazai smiles fondly and compares him to Oda (the only person we know for a fact Dazai genuinely liked).

Idk, their whole thing just seems very complicated. I think Dazai has a lot of conflicting feelings about Akutagawa. I think he’s proud of him, that’s his protege, and he feels as though he has prepared him for the future through his cruelty. But I think Akutagawa also represents all of his personal failures. His lack of patience, his cruelty, his mafia connection itself. Both in his own past actions towards him, and as a reflection of himself. I think he has convinced himself that the harsh way he treats Akutagawa makes him stronger, but he’s also just taking his own self hatred and frustrations with the situation he’s ended up in out on him.

I also think it’s interesting that while Dazai definitely likes Atsushi more, his intentions towards him were to pair him off with Akutagawa from the very beginning. So he at least still thinks about Akutagawa a lot. And he almost seems to be using Atsushi as both a weapon against Akutagawa, and like a vessel for Akutagawa’s character development? (And a buffer between Akutagawa and himself??? Maybe?) (And I think there’s a lot more to explore there than the fandom thinks). Which all kind of points to Akutagawa being the central point there kind of????? Like at least from the angle that Dazai knew him first and was working this plan off of him and Atsushi simply happened to be what he needed to complete Akutagawa. But he also ended up really liking Atsushi as a person along the way.
