I think a lot about Leo’s tendency to push his way into the spotlight despite clearly being a natural in the shadows. Hell, you could argue that his worst moments are when he’s forcing himself onstage, and his best are when he does things no one notices until it’s already been done.

I adore the way the HC of Shiki being a dysphoric trans girl ties in so neatly with her whole Thing about identity and valuing yourself and being so jealously coveting of what someone else has which in your head has been built up to be the epitome of what you think you want.

What dysphoric trans person hasn't wished they could wake up cis one day? Wished they could just swap bodies with their identity compatible trans friend?

Waking up as Eri, as an 'actual' girl, Shiki would initially be over the moon. It's everything she wanted- except. Except.

Internally she still feels like a fake, because she's trying to be like Eri instead of herself. And eventually, her dysphoria would catch up with her again just in a different flavour because the face and body she sees in every reflection isn't hers, she doesn't look like herself. She has the body she's always coveted in her friend, been jealously green eyed over, and it ruins her because she doesn't look like her.

'Shiki' is erased the more she tries to be Eri. Tries to be cis.

A trans Shiki not only learning how valuable she is to herself, but her value to herself also lies in appearing as, and being true to, her genuine self- something she can't do borrowing someone else's appearance and mannerisms.

Shiki doesn't have to be Eri; doesn't have to act like her, look like her, be cis like her, to be valid as a girl. Shiki, as herself, was always enough.

#twewy #I just have a lot of feelings about Shiki's whole journey over her gaining perspective of the value in herself.#And how it's not tied to her feelings for a boy. Shiki's journey about how she feels about herself is entirely focused on HER #And how SHE grows to care about herself from a genuine place instead of being shallowly propped up by compliments from Love Interest Boy-#Without actually learning how to care about herself without him constantly complimenting her.#One is genuine self confidence. The other is gonna crumble the moment she no longer has that source of self esteem around.
