do u think physical build is an important part of being security? im 5'5 and think i look very timid, but ive seen some entry level security job listings around me that ive been interested in.

I've only been private security for around five years, so I'm still relatively green compared to my colleagues, but I personally am about 5'3" and I've been doing great!

And again, I'm not incredibly experienced, but if I were to make a hire, I'd be prioritizing a number of things before considering height.

Physically you need to be capable of doing your duties without pain- so if you have chronic pain, foot patrol may not be your bag, but CCTV monitoring might work. If you can't drive, being a site manager may not work, but working door duty somewhere local might be.

Physical presence- in regards to 'looking timid'- is something that you can work on if you want to, but sometimes an unassuming appearance is your advantage.

A "problem demographic" (using HEAVY quotations there) for a lot of places like malls and downtown areas is adult women with trauma, addiction, and mental health issues- they're seen by a lot of clients as "crazy ladies" and treated less like people by the general public, and a good number have very good reason not to trust men ESPECIALLY in uniform, but are more often than not perfectly easy to get along with if you're polite, respectful, and don't come off as a threat or authority figure. Being able to offer menstrual products and having resources around the area you can recommend is good, too.

And if I HAVE to move people out from behind buildings and such, saying "fuck off asshole" like folks imagine is NOT as effective as "Hey, sorry, this area is restricted, but here are some other places that might be okay- I need to do another check in about an hour, so heads up, and the church up the street is doing hot chocolate right now".

Really, if you want to do well in security- at least basic work- I'd say you want to focus on the following:

Wear your uniform and keep it tidy

Show up prepared and on time

Be able to approach strangers and talk to them

Keep a positive, non-agressive attitude, and be willing to give people the benefit of the doubt

Learn deescalation techniques to diffuse conflict

Have a strong handle on your personal emotions and opinions

Kerp calm and rational in an emergency

Learn basic first aid and get certified if you can, it's not technically necessary but I've used that more than I'd like to admit

Keep a strong moral compass

Really, I'd say it boils down to keeping to your sense of ethics, showing up on time, and knowing how to follow orders with nuanced interpretation.

Beyond that, you're golden

reminder to everyone that trauma IS a valid reason to use aspec labels. "i don't know if i'm aspec or just traumatized—" protip!!! you can be both!!!! the thing about labels is that they're not immutable states of being that you're born as. they're literally just words that we use to describe our lived experiences, and if asexual or aromantic or any related label feel relevant to the way that you experience attraction, whether it's a result of trauma or not, they're there for you to use. having trauma as a cause does not invalidate the fact that someone is experiencing lesser or no attraction. that's still the aspec experience babey. use the label if you want it's there for you <3

the mischaracterizations of both Viktor and Jayce are killing me because:

They are both fucking nerds/geeks like those two believed in magic not only when it was banned and could get them exiled but also when 90% of the world didn't like. they were absolute geeks. canonically they spend 75% of their time together, and the other 25% is either them alone, Jayce with Mel/the Council, and Viktor with Sky (sort of) or talking to Singed.

Jayce is definitely as introverted/lonely as Viktor. He had no friends besides Caitlyn in S1A1 and only gained MAYBE 2 more after Viktor. He did not have a partner nor trusted anyone with what he was working on. No one else came to his defense at the trial. Boy was a loner, not a popular academy student with tons of friends.

VIKTOR IS GOOFY. Look at his face when Jayce asks him if he thinks their plans in act 1 will work! He's like "Crank it!" after seeing Jayce use it. He tries to use a bedroom lie when he gets caught breaking in. He steals keys TO break in just cause. He's excited explaining new creations to Jayce. He's excited (at first) when Jayce gives the speech!

Jayce is smart!!!!! Like yes he is very much a himbo in the sense of his energy, but he's not the "dumb one" of his and Viktor's pair, they're equals. just rewatch how he explains the arcane/hexcore/hextech to Ekko, or the whole scene in general. he keeps notes on Viktor while he's in the hexcore despite never having any prior experience with anything like it before. They understand each other easily. the braincell they share has an IQ of like 1000.

Viktor not only wears all his emotions on his face (in fact, he is very emotional) he also doesn't shy away from touch! His reciprocation is allowing the touch from Jayce (hands on back, shoulders, sides, hugs) because he also likes it! and he's not afraid TO show emotion! (that's why the whole machine herald thing was so intense, he went from having ALL the emotions to like 1 or 2 traumatically).

Viktor admires Jayce as much as the reverse: it's why he's mad/annoyed at him during the politics era: he knows the real Jayce, and not "his Jayce" but the real Jayce who is a scientist who wants to help people. It's why he's so open with him, why he's so betrayed and leaves when Jayce uses the hexcore on him, because his heart was broken. because the Jayce he knows is incredibly intelligent and focused and wants to actually help people.

JAYCE IS SELFISH. THEY BOTH ARE. From day one these assholes are only thinking about each other, they have each other on the top of their respective lists, but they don't know it. Viktor almost dooms an entire universe out of a selfish perspective to "cure" the world (forgetting choice is the upmost important thing) and after he got rejected from the one person he loved.

Jayce has always put Viktor first, even despite Viktor's wishes (the hexcore) and from the end of S2A2 on, his only main priority is Viktor, it just so happens saving Viktor also saves the world. this asshole tells Viktor in front of the whole hivemind that magic (which did improve everyone's lives basically until it got corrupted) wasn't worth it because he loses Viktor. because any other writing would have had Jayce be like "im letting him go to save the world" and Jayce is "I'll never let him go, even if it dooms the world".

i'm a jatherine truther in that i don't think they would have a super healthy long term relationship but them falling for each other was real and important and had a lasting impact on both of them both in their relationship with each other and their relationships with themselves and their understanding of life. like. i personally think long-term they'd end up not working out romantically but being best friends because of how I choose to understand them. but jack falling for Katherine and feeling for the first time like he's worth the attention of somebody he would usually see as above him. and Katherine falling for jack and actually living the theoretical ideas she's had about class divides and social structure. it's good for them. Katherine gets a glimpse at the world she's never truly understood before, puts her own privilege in perspective while also having the chance to get them to see it's not truly us vs them when there's also so many layers to being a woman in 1899, especially a woman with career ambitions and a controlling father with the ability to kill her career with a single word. even being an heiress doesn't stop your father from being an asshole who wants to ruin your life because you don't want to play by his rules. and jack gets to see that there is kindness and softness is the world for him, and not just the kindness and softness he has to fight his way to. he gets to experience somebody who knows him and knows his flaws and failures and the way he crumbles under too much pressure from himself and still chooses to love him despite all of that, he gets to have a soft place to land and also a place to learn and grow from somebody who parallels him in a lot of unexpected ways. they but heads and argue and maybe it isn't always smooth sailing and maybe they realize eventually that their love has settled into something other than romantic, but those changes and lessons and life experiences are there forever and changed them and made them better.
