Okay, what should've been a quick expository line about Rook and Neve passing through another Talon's territory in Bastion sent me down a rabbit hole.

As far as I can tell from Eight Little Talons + Veilguard + DAO + what the wiki has of World of Thedas (I didn't pull it off the shelf to confirm), here's what information we DO have about which Talon Houses have territory in what parts of Antiva + some guessing on my part for the rest.

Keep in mind that a) it's guess work and I may have missed a throwaway line somewhere b) some major cities do seem to be shared territory even before the Antaam invade Antiva and c) there are spoilers for Eight Little Talons if you haven't read it.

Rough Outline of Antivan Crow Territory

(moving from North to South)

Brynnlaw (in “the North”, could be further North or South than Treviso):

Pre-Invasion: Possibly House Kortez? Emil Kortez says "The Qunari will not be satisfied with the Imperium...They have invaded Antiva before ... in Brynnlaw, there are still buildings defaced by gaatlock powder. It is a common sight in the north.” He's then told not to make it North vs South.

House Kortez is also the House approached by the Antaam to buy their way into Antiva, which would make sense for a very northern House.

Post-Invasion: It's strongly implied Caterina is going to have Lucanis kill all of House Kortez, so a different House would have had to be elevated to Fourth Talon and a different House would have to govern this territory. (Not necessarily the same House.)

Alternately, depending on how fast the Antaam moved or how weak the new House was, it's possible the Antaam hold this area

Treviso: 

Pre-Invasion: House Valisti  (Claudio Valisti was born in 9:08 Dragon to the Valisti dynasty, a family of merchant princes operating out of Treviso) + House Dellamorte (Lucanis’s family home). 

Post Invasion: Cantori Diamond (possibly pre-existing?) + center of Antivan resistance/ reformist Crows (Viago seems to be living in the Diamond, not Salle). Rook de Riva calls Treviso "my city", but Illario implies they're new/a tourist.

Antiva City (Capital):

Pre-Invasion: Teia has somewhere there for Viago to stay (individual or House Cantori holdings?) + Zevran Arainai was purchased from a brothel there

Seleny: 

Inland, unlike other Antivan cities, along a river (not the Minanter River)

Pre-Invasion: The lake to the west of Seleny, Lago di Novo, is vacation country for Antiva’s elite and thus “Every house was permitted to take contracts in this region, marking it neutral territory. Even ground.”

Theoretically Seleny could be House Nero territory if their pearl diving happens where the river meets the Bay and just Lago di Novo is neutral territory.

Unknown Location for House Nero:

Pre-Invasion: House Nero’s wealth comes from pearls, and Bolivar Nero is said to “spen[d] coin as if Rialto Bay had an infinite supply of pearls”

Could possibly be further south than Rialto or Salle or further North than Antiva City & Treviso while still technically being on Rialto Bay… placed for convenience/symmetry. 

Theoretically Seleny could be House Nero territory if their pearl diving happens where the river meets the Bay and just Lago di Novo/ the general lake country is neutral territory.

Rialto: 

Pre-Invasion: Mentioned to be where Teia Cantori is living most of the time, where she stables her horses and is returning to after the Talon’s meeting, etc.

Post-Invasion: If Teia is consistently helping the resistance in Treviso, either Rialto is being held by an underling or it's fallen. No indication either way.

Salle:

Pre-Invasion: Only mentioned in terms of Viago de Riva living there/returning there

Post Invasion: If Viago is consistently helping the resistance in Treviso, either Salle is being held by an underling or it's fallen. No indication either way.

Bastion: 

Not mentioned in Eight Little Talons or associated with a House from WOT or one of the games. 

Pre-Invasion: This could be House Balazar's territory. Dante Balizar is the one who replies to Emil Kortez saying "It is a common sight in the north" by saying “Don’t make this a competition between north and south.” He's not otherwise associated with any particular geography.

Trump Annoyed That He Actually Has to Run Country

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Claiming that this was not what he signed up for, President Donald Trump has reportedly grown increasingly frustrated in recent weeks over the gripping responsibilities that being president entails. According to Trump, he was under the impression that being president wouldn’t be too different from his campaign, so when he was suddenly expected to lead the country out of its economic troubles, he was naturally in for a shock.

“Things were so much easier when I was just running for president,” Trump sighed to White House staffers. “All I had to do was complain about Sleepy Joe and the radical left at my rallies and then all my supporters would cheer and cheer. But now, I’m suddenly expected to read intelligence briefings, attend public policy meetings, and make decisions about foreign policy or whatever. Don’t these people know that I have a life too? I simply don’t have time to be bombarded with all this crap.”

In an effort to take much of the workload off him, Trump has suddenly decided to put most everyday responsibilities on DOGE director Elon Musk. “They say that he technically can’t be president because he was born outside the United States,” Trump said. “But nobody said that he can’t help me as president. I’ll still be president, but it’ll be a much more ceremonial position, think like the King of England but much more sexy. Elon will be like the Prime Minister, but with more unchecked powers. This will give me time to do more important things, like go golfing at Mar-a-Lago.”

At publishing time, Trump was seen inside the Oval Office, eating ice cream in front of the TV while Musk signed executive orders for him in his name.

Matt has always scrutinized the persecution of powered individuals. So when he meets you—a powered individual and former Avenger—of course, he’s not appalled or scared or anything like that; if anything, he’s intrigued. He wants to know more about you. And it doesn’t take much for him to fall in love with you because you are damaged, too. 

You have your history, and a lot of what happened when you were still an Avenger made you reject the powers you were born with. The way people looked at you after Sokovia and Lagos; the way you were all put into the same drawer and treated like imbeciles, obviously didn’t leave you cold. So, you try to use them as little as possible when you first start dating Matt because even though his senses are heightened beyond what could be considered normal for a blind man—he is Daredevil—he’s still only human. 

But Matt being Matt doesn’t let you get away with hiding. Okay, at first, maybe he would because he wants to give you time to open up, and you’ve just started dating, but he’s less tolerable once you grow closer. 

The first time he kisses you, you’re so caught off guard by this handsome, kind, and unbelievably good-hearted man actually kissing you, that you lose control of your carefully constructed reality for a moment, and the vase on his coffee table starts to levitate. 

And when you finally realize, your hold on the inanimate object eases, and it shatters.

“I’m so sorry,” you blabber, blood pulsing in your cheeks. But he shushes you with that signature smirk of his and says, “It’s alright.” 

It feels weird though, being this way around someone whose ‘abilities’ are solely reduced to his four working senses. 

Maybe he tells you, “Look at me. I don’t care if you have horns or a tail, or you can make a vase levitate several feet off the ground. This is you, and I… I love you, okay? I love you.”

There, he said it. You think it’s a joke, at first, but the look in his unfocused hazel eyes tells you that he’s being honest. You can’t hear his heartbeat like he can hear yours, but you can feel it thumping steadily under your palm and you know he would never lie to you.  

Matt’s infatuated with you. Your uniqueness doesn’t make you any less human or stunningly beautiful to him. Of course, he can sense that you’re different. His senses are so sensitive to the slightest changes in the atmosphere and the human bodies around him, and even on a molecular level, he can sense when something is out of the ordinary. But it doesn’t hurt him.  

He can’t really explain it to you, but there is a buzzing in your veins he can hear and feel. It took him some getting used to, sure, because he doesn’t often experience it, but it’s not unpleasant. Your body doesn’t feel different under his touch—soft as silk—yet he can tell that you’re not ordinarily human. He can feel the power coursing through you, and when you use it, the atmosphere shifts in a way that makes his skin tingle. 

Some nights, when he’s had a rough day and his senses are burning from overstimulation, you take his favorite flowers that have long wilted, and you bring them back to life. You let them float around him until the scent has seeped into his soul. 

You can manipulate the world around you to make it more bearable to him. He doesn’t even have to tell you to do it; when he comes home with his jaw set in stone, his head hung low or his fists bloody, you pull him to the floor and you make the world go quiet. You make him experience all the things that make him happy, and that’s how he falls asleep. 

He knows how to tune out the world on his own, don’t get me wrong, but not if he’s already been trying to do it all day and all night, only focusing on what’s important. When he loses control, that’s when he needs you. And you have the actual power to make it all go away. He’s addicted to how it feels when you use your powers on him or for him, and he would never ask you to stop. 

Or when you place your hand over his racing heart, closing your eyes and trying to get it back to beating normal, he feels you coursing through his very veins, and his pulse slows to a crawl. 

Perhaps, after you express the wish to go with him on patrol—and he would shoot you down the first couple of times out of fear of losing you—he eventually caves when he notices how badly you crave it, seeing him do it every night. He knows you want to make a difference again. To help people. That’s why you became an Avenger in the first place, and after you lost that, you obviously started missing it. 

Is he worried about your safety? All the time. He’s scared someone might hurt you, or someone might arrest you just for being who you are. He’s afraid of losing you. But he also knows you can take care of yourself. 

Let’s be honest, if you were someone with the powers to manipulate nature and a former Avenger, you would be the one protecting him most of the time. Because unlike him, you actually can’t get hurt that easily. So, he caves and he makes sure you fight the good fight together.

Needless to say, Matt would do anything for you.

The melody is your escape, a sanctuary from the weight of the Sokovian Accords and the chaos that seems to envelop your world.

Exhaustion clings to you like a heavy cloak, but the song demands to be finished. Each note is a release, a fragment of emotion woven into the fabric of the music.

Ever since that ill-fated mission in Lagos, the Avengers' world has been turned upside down. The compound, once a haven of camaraderie, now echoes with the tension born of differing opinions on the Accords. It's torn your makeshift family apart, leaving you grappling with your own stance on the matter.

It is expected of you as a super-powered member and also as the reason for Lagos being a failure. The plan had gone awry, and in the chaos, you deviated from the carefully laid out strategy. Overwhelmed by the enemy, your powers were not enough. It was Wanda who came to your rescue, a selfless act that saved your life but led to a devastating consequence.

You don't immediately respond, caught in the grip of your creative trance.

"Couldn't sleep," you admit, the weariness evident in your voice. "Needed to get this out."

Wanda's gaze softens, understanding the therapeutic power of your music. But her concern doesn't wane.

"And you? Why are you up?" You inquire, curious about the restlessness that brought her into your space.

A hint of sadness crosses her features as she confesses, "I had another nightmare.”

That hasn’t happened in a while, only on a rare occurrence since she started to heal from the events in Sokovia. Her war-torn homeland.

The pain of her brother's death used to haunt her dreams frequently, the agony vivid and raw in her memory. You remember when she first told you how it felt that day, the overwhelming emptiness as she felt her brother’s life slip away as if it were her own.

That was the first time she lost control of her powers.

A surge of empathy washes over you, and you instinctively reach out to touch her hand.

"I'm sorry.” You whisper, your own exhaustion momentarily forgotten.

She manages a small smile, her eyes lighting up.

“Well, I was thinking," she begins, her tone almost conspiratorial, "maybe you could come sleep in my room tonight. You know, like a sleepover?”

You can't resist the charming plea in her eyes, even though you know it’s all fake. Laced with fear of falling asleep just to end up back in another nightmare.

Usually, the sleepover ends with her clinging onto you tightly, whatever movie you both decided on long forgotten, as she sleeps peacefully. The nightmares suddenly gone as soon as you're around.

“Alright." You agree, setting aside your messy sheets. "Lead the way, m’lady."

The piano sits in silent anticipation as you follow Wanda out of the room, leaving the notes hanging in the air.

Later into the night, you both settle into her bed, the warmth of shared dreams replace the chill of nightmares. Wrapped in the comfort of each other's presence, you both drift into a peaceful sleep, leaving the half-finished melody to linger in the stillness of the night and challenges that await with the morning sun.

That was the last time you slept with Wanda.

Delhaye 135 Competition

Born in 1894, the Italian Giuseppe came to Paris at the age of 14 and initially worked as a coachbuilder. After the First World War, he was able to take over a small body shop and soon began working for Bugatti, as well as Duesenberg and, from 1932, Alfa Romeo. But he made a name for himself mainly with his bodies for Delage, with pretty cabriolets and coupes with sweeping lines being his speciality. In 1935, Ovidio Falaschi joined the company primarily as a financier, and the new company not only changed its name but also switched from being a Delage specialist to a Delahaye specialist. In the same year, the Italian French also presented the so-called ‘flowing’ design for the first time, which Figoni & Falaschi saw as an answer to the increasingly conservative shapes in the bodywork of the time. And it was also an answer to the Mercedes-Benz 540K ‘Autobahnkurier’ by Erdmann & Rossi, which was presented in 1934 and was generally regarded as the most beautiful vehicle of its time. In 1936, Figoni went one step further. A Delahaye 135 ordered by the French racing driver Albert Perrot is considered to be the first vehicle with the design that later became famous as the ‘Goutte d’Eau’, water drop, (especially as a body on the Talbot-Lago). But, yes, there were also Delahaye ‘Teardrops’, six examples, of which three are said to still exist.

FELA KUTI Toronto 1989

Even though it went unpublished anywhere for over twenty-five years, my 1989 portrait sitting with Nigerian musical legend Fela Kuti is probably one of my most important shoots. It happened because, to put it plainly, I wanted it to happen, and did my level best to make it happen. I was a fan and had photographed Fela at a press conference here in 1987, doing publicity for a concert that ended up not happening for two more years. I was in a bit of a lacuna in my career when a new concert was announced, first at a soccer stadium not far from where I lived, before it was moved to the old Masonic Temple downtown, also known as the Concert Hall. I wasn’t shooting regularly for any publication at the time, so I was working strictly on spec when I contacted Gary Froude, the promoter of the show, to see if I could get permission not just to photograph the concert but possibly a few minutes for a portrait sitting. To my surprise he said yes.

Fela Anikulapo Kuti was born to a prosperous family in Nigeria in 1938 and made his name with Africa 70, his first big band, attracting the attention of musicians like Ginger Baker and Paul McCartney. He also became a vocal opponent of Nigeria’s government, criticizing them as he recorded prolifically, on albums like Confusion, Expensive Shit, Zombie, No Agreement and many others. In 1977 his Lagos compound was raided; Fela as beaten severely and his mother was fatally injured when she was thrown out a window. By the end of the decade he’d formed a new band, Egypt 80, and began releasing records like Army Arrangement and Teacher Don’t Teach Me Nonsense on labels in Europe and America. The Nigerian government jailed him on charges of currency smuggling in 1984, and in 1986 he performed at an Amnesty International concert in Giants Stadium. But ticket sales for his show in Toronto in 1989 were slow, forcing it to be moved to a smaller venue; I’m not sure the promoter made any money on it, but I remember it as one of the best concerts I have ever seen.

I showed up to photography Fela Kuti around soundcheck and set up my modest lighting in a big dressing room in the basement of the Concert Hall on Yonge Street. Most of all I remember that Fela was one of the most intimidating men I have ever met, and that we began the portrait sitting with a series of rather straightforward shots on my Mamiya C330 camera. After finishing a roll Fela signaled for a break; he stretched out on a couch and began smoking the largest joint I had seen in my life for over a half hour. When the portrait session resumed he was, as I once wrote, rather heroically stoned, and these photos were far looser, as Fela glowered and pulled at his face. I’ve included every worthwhile frame I shot that afternoon on this post – the first time many of these shots have ever been published. Fela Kuti died of complications from AIDS in 1997.

I returned that night to shoot the show, going through several rolls of colour and black and white film, after which everything sat in my files for over two decades until I posted a few shots on my old blog. They came to the attention of Rikki Stein, Fela’s onetime manager, who arranged for them to appear for the first time in a 2017 box set of Fela’s records curated by Erykah Badu. Since then my Fela shots have been reprinted frequently; they were featured as part of a nightclub set on the Netflix reboot of the prime time soap Dynasty, on a line of t-shirts made by Carhartt, and in a Fela exhibit in Paris in 2023. Last year one of my live shots of Fela was on the cover of the debut issue of Rolling Stone Africa, which felt like vindication for that spec shoot I’d begged to do almost four decades ago. (Though I still wish they’d gone with one of these portraits.)

Duro Olowu

Olowu was born in Lagos, Nigeria, to a Jamaican mother and Nigerian father.He grew up in Lagos, spending summers in Europe and immersing himself in multiple cultures.

He moved to the United Kingdom when he was 16 , and like his father before him, Olowu studied law in England and later returned to Nigeria.

He soon gave up a legal career and moved back to London to pursue his true vocation as a self taught fashion designer, first designing womenswear collections for the now defunct London based label Olowu Golding.

In 2004, Olowu launched his women's wear label, beginning with a Spring/Summer 2005 collection, his womenswear label is known for its innovative combinations of colors and patterns, harmonious juxtapositions of vintage textiles with custom fabrics, and impeccably tailored silhouettes.

Olowu’s aesthetic vision is informed by his multicultural and international background, art, and other creative practices.

An empire-waist multi print silk dress from his debut collection, discovered by American Vogue editor Sally Singer, became an international hit. Selling out in renowned stores in New York, London and Chicago

In 2005, Olowu won the New Designer of the Year Award at the British Fashion Awards. The only designer to do so prior to their first catwalk show.

In 2009 he was named the Best International Designer at the African Fashion Award

In recent years, Olowu also began curating contemporary art exhibitions in galleries and museums beginning with his highly praised exhibitions, "Material" (2012) and "More Material (2014) at Salon94 gallery in New York.

His first museum exhibition was 2016, the critically acclaimed, "Making & Unmaking" at the Camden Arts Centre in London.
