After a long day, it was so nice to take a break and enjoy an evening walk / run with our pups. Last night we headed over to the Lecht Mine again … Hugo and Henry had a blast, so many different things to sniff and explore. I really love our adventures together … 🐶🐶🌲⛰

Scruff.  This dog portrait was done as a commission.  When I’m drawing dogs, I try and work directly from life, just as I do with people.  I can work from photos, but the energy I get from quick sketches with the subject (and the owner) there is much more fresh and interesting.  The original is SOLD.  You can commission dog portraits or see other similar pieces on my website or on my Instagram.

I love where we live. Like proper love it. 😁 Living by the beach may not cure cancer, but a good old walk on the beach with my buddy here always helps me process stuff. This week needed that walk on the beach. We had a bit of disappointing news a few days ago, and it looked like something that has kept me going through the last round of treatment (a holiday abroad for the fam) looked like it wasn’t going to happen. I was gutted.

Holidays take on a new meaning when you are in the daily grind of chemo. Without trying to be dramatic, they are a chance to process and come to terms with the trauma (because that’s what I class it as) of treatment. More importantly, they are a chance for the kids to see me as just “mum” again, where for a lot of the last few months, I haven’t been as much fun. At best, I’ve been tired and poorly. At worst, the eldest has cared for and worried about me. 😞 But after today, I’m feeling reenergised and thinking of ways around this latest conundrum. 🤔 We May not make it away, but I’m determined to give it a damn good try. 😁
